It was a delightful meal at a reasonable price. The freshly baked bread was such a lovely way to start, along with the bouquet garni butter which was very moreish. We had an oyster each, which we didn't regret! We've never had a better Oyster, and the flavour pairing of jalepeno and honey worked so well. We had the starters of duck salad and cuttlefish, which was pleasant. The main course was the highlight, the mixed grill of seafood was awesome, and the smoky charred flavour was addictive! The desserts were brilliant, especially since it was my first soufflé ever! So delicious. Thanks to Keane and the rest of the team at the Elderflower for a lovely lunch.

I chose the KF Fish wings as my starter. This chef must be mad to come up with the idea of fish wings KFC style. It’s so hard to eat without getting frustrated by a bone here or there; but it is soooo worth it. A totally tasty, barking mad, delicious starter. Being a Friday I followed by posh fish n chips. If I had known in advance I wouldve chosen a different venue for our lunch. The standard dining-in experience may have been given the AA 3 Rosettes, but the takeaway option sadly doesn't live up to that grading at all. Communication of expected delays in advance and knowing stock levels could be improved significantly. From what we saw whilst ordering, the quality of food being carried to tables inside looked great. A last tip if ordering the takeaway is to check your order by opening the box before leaving to confirm that you have salt and vinegar on, as they didn't add any to mine despite confirming it at the counter. Not worth £16.50, grab a sandwich from the store opposite, save yourself £10 to use on a flapjack, coffee and 30 minutes of your holiday.

Although the restaurant staff were nice the food experience was a letdown. First of all, the portion size was shockingly small for a £25 meal — it felt more like a starter than a main course. To make matters worse, instead of the potatoes I ordered, I received plain noodles, which made no sense. For a dish that’s marketed as a premium option, this felt lazy and overpriced. Their menu seemed to specialise mostly in types of ploughman’s. We ordered 1 ham and cheese, saying we’d share it between us. When it came it was very large and delicious! Plenty for the two of us. We were greeted by friendly bar staff and were placed in a lovely bay window table. All the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The roast chicken was very tasty and portions are not stingy here, we all got so full up. And the serving staff I think might not be allowed to speak to customers as I never got anything from the young lady serving us. Still feels like a pub with some personality unlike the copy paste interior of some chain pubs. However, the food was a real let down. Pasta was unsalted and bland, it didn't seem to have been seasoned at all. The chorizo was watery and tasteless and the prawns were tough as old boots. Having had chips the previous day that were really nice it was a shame to be let down by our mains the following day. Definitely worth a pint in the sun but I wouldn't waste your money coming for dinner.

As someone who has been a wheelchair user a long time, I would never have proceeded to book a table had I not felt 100% assured of the accessibility of the place. So many 4x4's crammed in, almost couldn't get the wheelchair in and out of the boot because of the cramped space. We also had to wait a while to leave as there was so many cars going in and out and getting stuck. I really don't complain often about things but I felt so utterly embarrassed today in front of a pub full of increasingly more irate people. Getting stuck like that and then having my sister and her baby turn up to get the buggy stuck too... Beautiful pub, beautiful food but definitely not suitable for wheelchairs. At all.

The restaurant is beautifully laid out with a lovely homely feel although there is a small garden area and covered outdoor area too. The vibe is classy yet casual but there is nothing casual about the food they serve. I could have happily worked my way through the entire menu but a shared starter of double cheese soufflé was the order of the day followed by duck confit for me and a lovely cod fillet with samphire and sweet potato fondant for my better half. The food was sensational , beautiful cooked, bursting with flavour and decent portion size. Pricing was also spot on for the obvious quality of ingredients and overall experience. I will let the photos below do the story telling but the tastes and flavours were as good as the pictures show and I think without a shadow of a doubt we will be back again to sample some more of their fayre. It would be rude not to indulge in dessert too when in a quality establishment in my mind and a shared lemon syllabub (where do you see that on a menu nowadays) was decided upon and was again sensational !!! The hotel is in a wonderful location. Very easy central access to the whole new forest with walks on the doorstep (albeit a short drive away). The town of brockenhurst is very nearby and walkable with restaurants and shops. The hotel itself looks wonderful and picturesque. The lobby and all restaurant areas are decorated to a high standard. The rooms felt modern and comfortable, with the exception of the bathroom which was ever so slightly dated and could've felt more high end in keeping with the rest of the room. We chose to do afternoon tea and a 60minute treatment for two separately. Afternoon tea was delicious and Kseniia looked after us wonderfully! Our 60 minute massages were with Tida and Onsri who were two women who can work miracles. We left floating as our bodies had been taken to heaven and back again within the 60 minutes. The hotel itself is having renovations and it’s not easy to navigate where reception is if it’s your first visit. Toilets are currently vacant hotel rooms with men and women using different number rooms. The spa will do blue light discount but the website doesn’t explain this so call them and book on the phone. The pub was busy (Uni move in day) and so service was slow, but we were warned before ordering and our server Tabi was absolutely lovely and proactively kept us updated, so no issues or complaints about that. The food was delicious, an amazing vegan lentil cottage pie! I’m not vegan and can’t really say why I ordered this, I probably wasn’t thinking clearly with the emotion of dropping off our baby at university… anyway I wasn’t expecting it to be that good and was kind of regretting the order until the moment I tasted it. It was stunningly good. An amazing depth of flavour, a generous portion, and delicious gravy. What a delicious treat! We’ll ba back as soon as we can, to visit our child, and to enjoy the food here again.

In all honesty, I wasnt expecting anything great. For £24, at a bar in town...I thought it would be pretty standard. But, I will admit this was possibly one of my favourite afternoon teas I've had! The sarnies were great, and perfect portions! The sweet treats were delicious and beautifully presented!! We were offered a complimentary glass of prosecco when we arrived, and again as we were paying up! Service was great. Staff would check all was well and then left us to it, while remaining nearby should we need refills etc. Our table was 12-2.30, but we never felt rushed to leave (we left about 3.30!) and could have easily stayed there into the evening. It took just over 40mins to get here, navigating through the village of Lyndhurst and numerous wild ponies. The hotel and surroundings are magnificent with views of the New Forest as far as the eye can see. But as impressive it all is,we are not here for that. We are here for the food of Hartnett Holder & Co. Angela Hartnett & Luke Holder are in charge of the kitchen here,serving Italian influenced dishes. As we were early we managed to get seated on the terrace in the glorious sunshine with our doggies. While admiring the surroundings a member of staff brought out a bowl of olives and nuts. We ordered a couple of zero alcohol Erdinger beers £11.(driving). Menu wise,there was a choice between the bar, a set lunch and an A la Carte. We chose from the bar menu. Risotto Milanese £16 Saffron infused, aged parmesan & butter. Spaghetti Bolognese £15 Somerset Saxon Chicken Milanese £20 Lemon,parmesan & rocket. Cornish Fish £30 Tenderstem broccoli, lemon & green leaves. Chips Skinnies £7 Although we were full,we could not leave until we tried the Tiramisu £15. Everything we had was just as expected. Simple dishes, beautifully executed and full of flavour. With lots of parmesan to add. We didn't get to see much of the inside of the house as doggies are not allowed in. Hence that's the reason we dined outside. But we did get first class service and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Thank goodness the weather was on our side.

My friend and I are huge Great British Menu fans, and we were very excited to visit. We started our visit in the bar where we had a gorgeous signature fizz, Rock Story. For mains, I had an amazing veal dish, and my friend had the hake. Every mouthful was flavoursome and tantalising. We end our meal with a cheese board and espressos. One piece of advice is to give yourself a whole afternoon. Our reservation was 12:30pm and we finished up around 3:00pm. Perfection cannot be rushed. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. When we pointed this out it seemed to hurry things up a bit thankfully. Management then went above and beyond with our request for a goodwill gesture, which is very very rare - we were very grateful for it but still would have preferred a more timely service (eg a wait of maybe 20-30mins for our mains at max). Food was lovely and service was great,lots of choice of beers and cider and extensive wine list. Nice walk to the local village which has everything from bike hire to witches shops. One more thing as the hotel is in the forest and it is so quiet in the night its worth getting up and going for a little walk.

It is an amazing location deep into the forest with a stream nearby and lovely walks, ( it was November and we definitely needed wellies), and cycle trails from the door. We saw free roaming ponies, pigs ,cows and deer during our visit to the forest. We stayed for a comedy festival night, which was very good, ( the chairs were rather uncomfortale in the function room), in the new hideaway rooms, they are beautifully kitted out self contained with a very comfortabe beds & good powerful shower, each room had its own little patio with a table & chairs & pretty planting around the area. All the staff were friendly and helpful and couldn't have done any more to make our stay perfect. Thankyou everyone. Decided to book on the off chance with our dog and were not disappointed with either the quality of the accommodation on offer or the dinner and breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the smashed avocado and poached eggs for breakfast was one of the best we have ever eaten. It was a nice touch that our dog was offered a freshly cooked sausage for breakfast as well. The room was very comfortable. Our only word of warning, is if your dog has a very waggy tail, you should perhaps move some of the vases out of the way first, but apart from that everything was good and great value for money.

Very warm welcome from all staff. The atmosphere was lovely and country-esk. They accepted dogs which was fab. The food was absolutely beautiful, faultless and served timely and with carefully thought about presentation. We had the Monkfish Scampi and Salt and Pepper squid, both superb. The broccoli side was very under cooked and once the kitchen had closed the waiting staff seemed to disappear. My starter arrived 5 mins after ordering and I had to ask for the main to come a bit later. I was told I could have 15 mins before my main which is fine but it came out after about 6 mins. The restaurant its self is delightful but I'm really disappointed in the service. I came back to give this restaurant another go. Massive improvement in service and hospitality. Saw the improvement in the quality of food as well. If you’re staying in the hotel it’s deffo worth a try… Glad to see they take our criticism on board. We decided to get a takeaway on the way through in Lyndhurst. We ordered it online on the way there and went in to collect it and took it onto our accommodation which was 10 minutes away. None of the food had any taste at all and it was so disappointing. The food was inedible and I hadn't eaten that day either! My husband just ate his because he was so hungry. He's not one to complain as he will eat anything but he said it was awful. We don't get away very much and could have chosen to eat anywhere in Lyndhurst. We wish we had got a pizza from the forage. The only positive thing was the poppadoms... That was tasty and fresh and ironically it was free as we didn't order it! I did email the restaurant the next day asking for them to get back to me and requesting a refund but so far have had no response. I can't believe anyone can give this place a good rating and how it has 4.5 stars out of 5. I want my money back as we spent £25 on inedible food. The staff were fantastic at every point and very accommodating. We were placed in a room on the 1st floor and it was very thoughtful to have a gift pack for our dog in the room, which shows how dog friendly the hotel is. Sadly the starters were not very exciting and the same with the macaroni cheese. The gin and wine recommendations were spot on and we appreciated the Hotel Manager's suggestions. The night's sleep was decent, although if you are near the stairway, you do hear a fair bit of passing traffic. Despite there being a wedding party at the hotel, we couldn't hear anything. Breakfast was included and had a good selection - both hot and cold. It was great to be able to bring your dog with you (in the conservatory). Would recommend if you are in the New Forest as a couple seeking somewhere special to stay.

My wife and I attended our nephews wedding, which in the main seemed to run smoothly to us. Sadly it felt a little understaffed, especially when there was only one young lady serving at the bar in the barn where the function was being held and many guests waiting to be served. The two rather fat rats we saw, did not set off a great impression either as they scurried around the back area searching scraps to eat, clearly hygiene and pest control could do with a review. The most unfortunate part of the whole day though was when one of the young gentlemen, who was worse for wear from his evening drinking was being asked to leave the premises by the manager due to his unacceptable behaviour. I personally felt the manager was well within his rights as the young man was presenting himself in a very aggressive manner. As a more mature member of the group and a teatotal chap my entire life, it felt very uncomfortable to be spoken to by the manager the way he did, his approach was quite standoffish and unprofessional. As I was attempting to assist him in guiding the young man away from the premises he felt it necessary to hang around very close by and pressure the situation with hurrying me along, he also felt it was important to remind me that he didn’t want the bride and grooms event to be ruined. A little thoughtless when I’d already told him the groom was my nephew. Eventually I removed myself from the problem as the young drunk was threatening me with violence and using rather unpleasant language, it was also at this point another sober guest, who was more acquainted to the young man took over. The service was excellent, the food seriously delicious and the rooms spacious with wonderful views of the grounds. The only issue was the bathroom and showers which weren't powerful. We are used to power showers of moderate intensity and these were weak. Opted for a bath but it took ages to fill as there wasnt any power through the taps either. No bubble bath provided. The reception did offer to help with the shower but we were only staying the one night. But the two double rooms we booked both had issues with the shower being weak. The place is tiny but the pizzas are big..on taste and crust and sauce. The tomato sauce is tangy and savoury and full of flavour. We were greeted very warmly by both owners and the venue is very welcoming and homely. The food is outstanding as well as the service and passion the owners clearly have for their amazing venture. We ordered the Pav Bhaji which was EPIC. Its normally hard to get a good well spiced and seasoned one and this one hits the mark 100%! The Potato Bombay Bad Boys were a fabulous take on a vada pav and took them to a next level and they were super in terms of the perfect portion size and flavour. Dhaba Nachos with the soya keema are again another fantastic and different way of serving nachos and were amazing as again it shows the owners take on different foods and again they hit the mark with it. Awesome dish. Tandoori Butter wings were the perfect blend of tandoor flavour with a lovely not spicy marinade that would suit any palette, really enjoyed them. We also had a Paneer Masala which was divine. The sauce was completely different to the standard sauce you get at other curry places and could not get enough of it! Was so good. The dishes were washed down with a gorgeous passion fruit martini and a Nimbu Paani which was very refreshing. Id highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be back for sure to try more of the menu out. A big thanks to the owners and staff there who made everyone feel welcome and super to see them trying different takes on dishes and most certainly being successful in doing so! See you again! It was dealt with promptly, two fresh meals served and these were perfect.

It was a hot day and we needed a soft drink. I ordered two Pepsi and it cost £7:40! Plenty of parking and you'll most likely be greeted by donkeys and ponies when you arrive! It has a large garden area with a decent kids play area and lots of tables to sit at. Its also a dog-friendly pub too with fresh water and bowls for your furry friends after a walk. I had the ploughman's platter which was generous and had a variety of cheese, meat, salad and baguettes on the plate. Main courses and drinks for 3 came to £70. Great location with interesting and spacious garden. A lot of tables and chairs in garden well laid out and clean and tidy. As a former hotelier and publican I thought providing a good level of service to a high standard is going to be challenging at peak busy times. Staff were cheerful and friendly and gave good service. Sunday Menu was good with a mixed offering of choices. Pricing was a little on the high side for what was on offer. Desserts were also similarly too high price and a simple biscuits and cheese platter priced at £15.50 not acceptable. Bar prices also a touch too high. Will be interesting to see if customer levels can be kept buoyant "out of season" at the current price point. Will go back for another visit to see midweek offering regarding service, pricing and quality of menu. From the moment I booked, the staff at the Old Mill couldn’t have done more to facilitate and enable us to have the celebratory event we wanted. I made some prior enquiries about bringing our own cake and putting up a few decorations and they were utterly accommodating. There were 9 of us, 7 adults and 2 kids. We arrived on time for our 17:30 booking. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and staff knew we were there for a celebration. From the very moment we sat down, our waitress - Grace - was attentive, kind, discreet (she helped me arrange bringing out the cake with candles) and good humoured! The atmosphere was special but familiar, drinks were just what our varied age group wanted but, apart from Grace’s service - the true star of the show was the food! We all had two courses and it was faultless. Many of us went for the lamb dish for main which was an absolute hit. We had a truly special and perfect celebration at The Old Mill and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thank you to the Old Mill staff but especially again to Grace, she is a star employee!
