We were looking for somewhere to go, somewhere different. Somewhere with a bit of vibe about it. We were drawn to the Giraffe, as we have walked past it a few times and had never ventured, instead going to other places. We were shown to a table by a (slightly terse) waitress and were left to bathe in the modern ambience. I ordered the Pulled Beef Birria tacos. They were simple but delicious, a cheesy tender concoction sandwiched in a soft taco shell. V large portion size and served on a bed of chips and salad. The stand out was the beef sauce, which did a great job imitating the real Mexican beef sauces. The fries tasted generic however, like their was no love put into their creation. I also ordered the fried calamari, and this was particularly weak. When I order calamari, I expect some calamari, what I got was balls of batter. An overpowering panko bread crumb taste, lathered in mayonnaise. It makes my arteries clog just thinking about it now. My gf had the Cuban sandwich, which I had a portion of. Tasted like a good guess towards the authentic thing, with mainly the bread being the thing that led it astray (not nearly toasted/panini enough.) The star was the mustard mayo dip, which added a good tang and spice to the dish. Overall, I would categorise this place as somewhere you would take your ids to after a day out at the movies or the local swimming pool. An easy, family friendly, crowd pleasing establishment. Why I rate it higher than your typical restaurant s in this category is that it dares to aspire to more. They could have easily jus served only burgers chips and pizza. Going out and attempting different cuisines is admirable, and even though the attempts are flawed, they are still well intentioned.

However the food was some what lacking. Most of the dishes were overly salty and creamy. It did not hit the spot in terms of taste or how it was cooked. The hummus was yummy though. I feel the ethos of the restaurant is great, but some more creativity in terms of flavour and pairings as well as cooking things better, would make this place a winner. I found the portions to be big for sharing so that was great. I went because it was on the Michelin guide, so I'm slightly miffed that the main flavour was salt. Hope they can improve.

If you’re giving it a go then definitely order bread - hopefully thats a safe bet in case you also dislike the food.

I breufly looked at the menu and couldn’t find a meat lovers and the only spicy one I found was the Calabra which I order with some Nduja dip on the side. I just ordered a water and then was brought a £4 half litre bottle of water. I forgot to say tap water. The pizza came quick enough but I think they brought me the wrong pizza. I think I was brought the Burratina which is pretty much the same except the Calabra has some spicy Njuda sausage which mine had none. I still ate it, I don’t recall having to many pizza’s which cold globs of Buffalo Mozzarella, but I was hungry and that filled the void. I also found there was too much rocket for my liking. It almost seemed like I had ordered a salad on flat bread. It was an experience and I am not sure I would recommend it, but I will most likely not go again if I were to visit again.

The food was delicious and full of rich, balanced flavours (the pictures online really don’t do it justice). Every dish was beautifully presented, and both the vegetarian and meat options were packed with taste, creativity and quality. Having eaten in several Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe, we can confidently say this restaurant deserves its star. Most courses were either underwhelming, bizarre or just unpleasant. The trout was flavourless and it had a pin bone left in it. The rye bread, which oddly came four plates in, was a basic bread roll. The raviolo had so much going on that it was completely lost, and the plate included some sad wedges of leek that were truly bleak. The "islands chocolate" had so much olive oil and balsamic that it was like a mouthful of salad. The raspberries were just frozen raspberries in pieces with some meringue atop a flavourless "tonka bean" mousse. The food is pretentiousness with no substance. The staff are also a little bit too inexperienced to be able to deliver the level of service you should expect when you're paying upwards of £200 per person and they deliver every course with a level of theatre that only much, much better food can justify. The place had good reviews so we decided to give a shot. Quality of food is good but the food is EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for the amount of food we got. Portions are extremely small. The taster plate had the equivalent of 1 slice of ham for 7 pounds. The prawns tapa was 12 pound for five very small prawns. The place is very small and kind of cramped. So I’m not sure how these prices are justified. I didn’t want to ruin my trip so I didn’t complain but it’s not cool at all. Nevertheless, if you don’t mind paying insane prices for small portions or if you want to come here for a special occasion, I guess it’s fine. Really like how the place is laid out. We had a romantic little nook in the corner overlooking the restaurant. Its a great building and I love the use of the different spaces, it feels fresh and fun. We had an amazing server, dead friendly Scottish woman. She's really good at her job, makes you feel so at home and seems to be able to anticipate your every need/read your mind! But doesn't linger, can't really fault her to be honest and she made the night memorable and successful. We heard the live jazz which was nice although it did make everyone talk louder so it was a bit of a struggle on that front to talk! The food also doesn't come out all together which I'm not sure why. But, the food I had was delicious. I was surprised I could enjoy a pizza I've had many times before in a new and totally delicious way. Crispy thing crust, amazing complimentary flavours and I almost finished it all! We also ordered the baked feta with Rosemary and honey which was super moreish but very rich! My partner had a halloumi burger but unfortunately he wasn't very impressed with that. Super glad they had herbal teas as even though they aren't very "sexy" on the menu, it was the perfect way to end the evening. I did however find the website extremely confusing as to what and where was on offer. We weren't even sure which bit we'd booked and just hoped it was the live music bit, luckily it was.

You can see how popular this place is by the queue of people waiting outside for tables. It says on the website walk ins available but if your going to come here I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. So if you want a pizza it comes from one and if you want a burger it comes from the other so your food could turn up at different times! I decided to change my order on hearing this and we both had pizzas. We were then advised it was a 45 minute wait. Not an issue, good beer and live music the actual 1 hour and 15 minutes wait flew by. Out of this world, possibly the tastiest pizza I've ever had. From the entrance all the way to our table the service and staff were outstanding. The live music was a great touch. The menu looked good, but I have to admit, the food and drinks were not AS delicious as some of the other tea times that we’ve had. The Darcy cocktail sounded so promising but was a bit too bitter and flat. What you are paying for is definitely the ambiance and location. You feel like you’re sitting in a room full of so much rich history that I would’ve paid 2x more for this feeling. Wed come to Bath for our wedding anniversary and thought wed have Italian for a change. Firstly, the restaurant is set on the river and the views are stunning and restaurant is beautiful. Secondly the staff are fantastic, so so friendly and knowledgeable. Really 5 star service. Honestly the welcome is probably more than youd get visiting your favourite Auntie! Now onto the food. As I previously stated, im not a massive Italin fave but this nissan in my top 5 meals ever: Calamonki: stunningly presented and absolutely fantastic. Best Calamari ever ever had. Tagliere Del Ponte: faultless selection of meats and cheese and the blue cheese was a show stopper. Taglioni Al Nero Di Seppia: black squid ink pasta, with Argentinian prawns and Nduja!!! Breathtakingly good and best pasta dish ive ever had. Worss do not do justice to how amazing this was. I dont want to eat pasta again after this as it wont compare!!! Ragu D'Agnello: mouth watering and gorgeously rich! Dark Chocolate Cheesecake: outrageously good! Hazelnut Espresso Martini: better than at most cocktail bars!!! The service was impeccable. The gentleman was attentive, gave us suggestions on the menu but also gave us space and time to eat and talk without feeling rushed. And the food..... delicious!
