I think I was brought the Burratina which is pretty much the same except the Calabra has some spicy Njuda sausage which mine had none. I still ate it, I don’t recall having to many pizza’s which cold globs of Buffalo Mozzarella, but I was hungry and that filled the void. I also found there was too much rocket for my liking. It almost seemed like I had ordered a salad on flat bread. It was an experience and I am not sure I would recommend it, but I will most likely not go again if I were to visit again.

They have a lot of different pizza Roma style and classic. I couldn’t decide in a pizza so our waiter(Aldo) suggested a pizza and I LOVED IT. Our attempt at introducing American sandwich culture to our shores is lazy, flawed and ungenerous. As can be clearly demonstrated in places like Whole Bagel. I made the fatal mistake of ordering the ‘New York’ bagel. I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy bagels from New York City itself so my expectations were way too high from the start. I was served a small, half toasted bagel with ONE slice of pastrami inside but lashings of mustard and salad. I basically had a salad and mustard bagel. It was bad. Just really really bad with no seasoning or flavour to the pastrami which seems almost impossible given pastrami is literally brined beef. The UK just needs to stop, we are getting it so wrong when it comes to American casual dining. Places like this are one of the reasons why I like Greggs so much. Our only hope is if I finally commit to opening a place - but I’m not sure the UK deserves it if it rates places like this 4/5 starts.

The burger sauce added the final tip of of the iceberg when it came to turning a good burger into a great burger. We ordered the fries in both the plain and loaded variety. I really recommend the loaded fries if you like gherkins... but, that being said, the standard fries hold their own and are also really good. Edit to add: The halloumi fries came with a hot honey glaze that was again, an improvement to the standard. Not too sweet and not too spicy, just a really delicate balance of the two which paired deliciously with the slightly squeaky halloumi goodness. The literal only negative that I can pick on (and this is me clutching at straws for anything to criticise) was the lotus biscoff shake tasted VERY peanutty to me (although less so to others in the group). The Oreo shake was delicious, and the chocolate shake was also well received. All in all, I would say that it was worth driving for an hour to get there and Magu is likely to see us back there at some point.

The only person who could have enjoyed this food is either someone drunk with no memory of what they’ve eaten, someone without the faculty of tasting or someone put to gunpoint and forced to lie about what they really think. Fifthly, the chicken honestly tasted awful, I didn’t think it was hard to get chicken wrong but It was so dry and had NO flavour inside and strange unclean charcoal taste on the outside. Did not feel like good quality chicken, even the smell of it was not fresh. Sixthly, I don't mind paying for sauces but the quantity of sauce given for 50p was shocking, having spent £1.50 on sauces, it would have been nice to have more than a couple teaspoons of sauce. Seventhly, the giant slice of cucumber in my burger caused the bun to go super soggy on the inside reducing it to mush. Probably wouldn't have noticed or cared much but the previously mentioned stuff made me dissect everything. There was a very friendly and helpful person fronting up the store giving out vouchers for when they were open and ready. I used mine yesterday (which has to be done via their app) and other than the teething issues they are experiencing from opening a new site the coffee and food are on point. Both orders were ready 10 mins later than requested, which is forgivable but worth bearing in mind. The store was not ready when I visited at 8.15, tables everywhere and screens switched off. Team members seem annoyed an order had come in so early. Flat white is king! Baked fries are an absolute winner and the koerean chicken wrap is taaaaaaasty! I did have the hash browns with my morning coffee and they were a little underwhelming (little cold and soggy). Love that they don't charge extra for alternative milk, and much of the menu caters for vegans and veggies as well as meat eaters. I'm sure once they are up to speed this store will hit all the markers which make LEON great. Certainly will be a strong contender for lunch given the loyalty app and the ability to order ahead of time.
