The menu had a great range of options, and the service was top-notch - immediate and attentive, despite it being quiet. We travelled to Bombay palace from princes Risborough after hearing sound reviews. Entering the restaurant it was aesthetically very pleasing. A warm welcome and swiftly shown to our table. Plenty of seating within for what I’m sure are busy Friday and Saturday nights. The staff were all very well mannered and attentive. You could see the experience and quiet confidence in how they looked after us throughout the evening . Drinks ordered and delivered before the poppadoms which is always a big tick from me. Drinks well chilled, poppadoms and dips all fresh and crisp. A great start. Perusing the menu there were plenty of options for all tastes and a good range of new/house dishes to read through. As a table of 4 we ordered chicken naga, chicken dansak, king prawn tawa, king prawn khatta mitha, pilau rice, mushroom rice, sag bhaji, sag paneer, begun bhaji, keema naan, garlic naan, peshwari naan. Tastebuds now positively tingling with anticipation. Poppodoms were cleared in advance and hot plates delivered. Drinks refreshed, the mains were delivered on the house cart. Everything was presented beautifully and laid out on the table. The aromas filled our senses and we couldn’t wait to tuck in. Every dish had individual character. Deep thoughtful flavourings. In comparison, some establishments overuse the same curry base for most or all dishes but I must say with this meal everything on our table had its own uniqueness. The stand out dish for me was the king prawn khatta mitha. Perfectly cooked prawns and a creamy well spiced sauce that paired perfectly with shellfish. I could highlight and recommend any of the dishes served to us. Execution was on point. Well done chef. Plates and table cloth cleared as we entered the twilight of our evening and we were then served a complimentary drink for a perfect end to a perfect meal. Congratulations Bombay palace. A real gem of a restaurant we will be sure to visit again.

One of the waiters, Dulon, was incredibly attentive and ensured that we had everything we needed alongside taking the time to get to know us and share stories. The other waiters within the establishment were just as wonderful and would check in with us too. The food was incredible and we all agreed that it is the best Indian food we have ever tasted. We all ordered different dishes and were so impressed we were sharing with each other so we could taste all the options. The food was absolutely delicious — full of rich flavours and beautifully presented. What truly made the evening extra special was the service. Paul was amazing from start to finish, so friendly and attentive. To top it off, he surprised us with shots on the house to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. How disappointing. The service was shockingly bad and slow. Mistake after mistake. We warned the waitress about a broken chair at the beginning of the meal and rather than take it away, she just left it which I suspect will end up coming back to haunt them. The waitress was away with the fairies and kept forgetting things and was extremely slow to attend to us to the point where were waiting 45 mins for a coffee, despite getting up to ask several times. The food itself was average. They put pork in the 3 meat roast instead of chicken without even asking if it was ok to do so. The roasts are supposed to come with veg and cauliflower cheese, one would assume that is per roast, but instead they make you share a inadequate plateful. The dining area was freezing and cramped, to the point that you struggled to get through the entrance to it because they had placed an Xmas tree right next to a table. The chairs all need replacing as they wobble and are extremely uncomfortable. It's safe to say we will not be returning and we are genuinely amazed that this place receives any good reviews.

It's a nice alternative to a chain like Costa/Starbucks/BlackSheep in the Eden Centre. There is some outside seating which is lovely in the summer with some smoking seating at the end. Just shows how social media can be deluding. Don't get us wrong, the service, staff behavior and environment were very good but the food was exceptionally disappointing. The food was standard but took a while to come (~30-40mins). When we enquired about our food, we were told food had been put "on hold" (this is an approximation - I couldn't quite hear what was said) by the kitchen and that our order would be with us shortly (of which it was with us within about 10 minutes). It's very surprising how a simple breakfast, which is probably the easiest to cook can be so poorly done. To begin with, they didn't have scrambled eggs. Both nights the food was excellent. They had everything in stock that we ordered (other Nando’s we have been in recently never seem to have the butterfly burgers and other menu items available). I can attest that this was better than the ones served in other well known South Indian Restaurant chains. We absolutely loved the taste of them. Onion Rava dosa was thick and wasn't very crispy in the middle and was thick instead which isn't to my liking but I do know some people who like it that way . I would have preferred red onions instead of white ones considering the strong taste that the former gives. My partner liked the Chicken Kutthu Parotta and the owner checked the spice level he wanted to make sure it would be to his liking . It was very flavourful and filling he said. We had a candid talk with the owner and he seemed to be very nice and warm. He did acknowledge that the place isn't the poshest looking of all but are willing to customize and improve the food's quality and taste for their guests. This is the best thing I found in him. I know for a fact that if I go in there again and mention , for example, that I like my Dosa crisp , he will be more than happy to deliver it to my expectation . After our talk , I had an impression that to them ( his wife who is the chef and himself) that what matters to them is keeping their customers happy by serving food they are craving to eat. I mean, is this not what everyone should be looking for rather than just focusing on profits ? When I went the the bar to ask for a small amount of ice - the female service -(in a somewhat irritated fashion) took my glass and put a full scoop of ice (as you would in a cocktail) in my glass - thus rendering the wine not drinkable. We understand that bars get busy - but there is no excuse for poor service and rudeness. If the staff had told us we wouldn't be able to get a drink for an hour - then we could have made other choices. The staff are friendly and always welcoming. One of the few places I feel genuinely comfortable being alone as the staff are always so attentive. The food is also great so that's a bonus. It's become one of my favourite places over the last few months and the staff are some of my favourite people now.

Portions are large and staff are more than happy to prepare takeout containers for any leftovers. Super friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about the menu. The special dishes are all fantastic, especially the praha biriyani and the tandoori salmon. Very comfortable seating and the tables are a good size (I often find that you run out of space with all the food at other places but not here!) Music is pleasant but not too loud and the decor inside is tasteful and cultivates an overall amazing vibe. This is our go-to restaurant now, and it's obvious that a lot of thought and hard work has gone into every aspect. I couldn't recommend it more highly! There is also a wide range of dishes and drinks that accommodate dietary requirements so no worries about bringing a large party! There is a good amount of seating so you don't necessarily need to book ahead, but it is always busy even on a weeknight!!

Had an Ox cheek, rump and Guinness pie on the menu. Checked with staff if it was freshly made to which I was given a thorough run down of how fresh it was. Two pies ordered which arrived shortly after. Perfectly cooked and served. Pastry was perfect, meat was tender but still had some bite. Sauce in pie not too peppery which is common. Greens and mash were perfect complement. All in all 10 out of 10.....and to you, whoever served us....well done. You showed interest and passion. Shame you are not closer to us.
