My partner and I went here after reading many wonderful reviews, and had high expectations due to them. We rarely complain when it comes to restaurants. I will start with the strengths: Service: The service was incredible. Our server Tami went above and beyond and had us laughing the whole time. She was the highlight of our experience! Some food: The scallop ravioli was definitely worth the hype. That was an incredible dish, perfect in every way! The green bean tempura had some hard bits that couldn’t be chewed but overall the flavor was there. Big weaknesses: The main entrees we ordered were disappointing for both of us. I got the scallop risotto and while the scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the risotto underneath (which was a big bulk of the meal) was so salty it was pretty much inedible. My boyfriend got the Marlin and was very disappointed in the texture (overcooked/dry and fibrous, almost like a canned tuna) as well as his fish being over salted as well. Overall, it is clear there are servers that love their job here and carry the experience, but if the quality in the entrees does not improve I would unfortunately not recommend a visit.

The service was great and the server explained the dishes to us as they came. Everything was fairly quick to come out and was delicious. The yuzu beurre blanc in the scallop ravioli was my favorite and they gave extra bread so we could get all the flavor. The braised beef was perfectly tender, and all the sauces in all the dishes were fantastic. All the scallops were also perfectly seared and cooked. The creme brulee didn't crack when we hit it but not sure if that's intended. The pistachio ice cream was also fairly salty and overpowered the pistachio. We flew in from HNL and got in around 2030 hours so was looking for a quick spot to eat. Found this place was open until 2130 hours so quickly headed to it from the airport which was a 5min. drive. Parked in the slanted stalls outside of the restaurant and walked in using their ADA ramp leading towards the front near the register. When you walk through their screen door, right away I get mom and pop shop kine feels. Super laid back, local, NO a/c so when we came in at night, i'm assuming that was cool for what it usually can be. It's open air jealousy windows. You don't have to check in at front, you just find an open spot on their counters where small brown stools are provided for you to sit on. The counters have all the amenities needed for this saimin shop. Once you take a seat, a server will come over and give you menus to start looking. They offer fountain drinks and can sodas as well. The server came took our orders and within 15min started to bring our food out to us. The broth was hot but not piping hot. The skewers were flavorful however a little on the tougher side and not as moist as I would have thought. Still very good. I ordered a medium saimin, 2 beef and 1 chicken skewer and that filled me up just right. Came out to $20.75. ( I only had water)) The bathroom is a single for all to use and was clean. Since it is open air and windows are open as well there was not a strong smell. The building is smaller and gives plantation home vibes. Cute spot for some ono saimin. Broth was nice and smooth, not being too salty, which I was surprised since we came closer to closing so I would have thought we would be getting the bottom of the pot. Didn't get to try to pie, but did get almond cookies to finish and that was really ono too!

Very solid, it’s kind of pointless to leave the resort for breakfast when you have a solid breakfast offering as such. For lunch, sliders with truffle fries, which were satisfying and a delicious pairing. And for dinner (in which we had 2 dinners), I had a steak dinner that was cooked to perfection (of my liking) and my lady had a lobster gnocchi with big servings of lobster. I want to give a shot out to the exceptional service of Noah at Red Salt. I’ve been to countless restaurants but he has to be the most hospitable , meticilous, and courteous professional that I have EVER met to tie in the dining experience. The mix of scallops, crab, dynamite sauce, and eel sauce had that perfect balance of savory, sweet, and salty, so good we immediately ordered a second one. The black cod was tasty but not something I would rush to get again compared to the dynamite. For rolls we had tekka, kappa, spicy tuna, kai, kazan, and kawa. All were fresh and generously filled, but the kazan (volcano roll) was the clear favorite and we ended up ordering three of those. Great kick from the jalapeno and spicy tuna, balanced perfectly by the dynamite sauce. We finished with otoro and uni sashimi. The otoro was buttery and melted in my mouth, and the uni had that perfect ocean flavor and richness. Drinks were a mix. The Sunburst and Strawberry Twist mocktails tasted like watered down soda with a splash of syrup and I would not recommend them, but the Hawaiian Banana Split mocktail was decadent, thick, and exactly what you would hope for. We usually go to the other locations so this was our first time at this one. We were immediately seated and able to order within a reasonable time. I loved the soft shell crab bun and the thai tea. The fish here is incredible, especially the yellowtail with Jalapeño in a truffle ponzu sauce which is the best thing I’ve eaten in recent memory. After about 10 min, I asked for my super greens and mushroom chicken since they had already put that in my eating container, and I wanted to enjoy it while it was still warm. When I got my teriyaki chicken, the 2 pieces I received had a lot of visceral fat in them, so they were a bit too fatty and chewy for my taste. At least in the south side I figure more business is done out of food trucks and what is described as “hole in the wall” kind of restaurants than the typical sit down style restaurants. We went to Craving Thai because of the vegetarian options and also their advertised flexibility in customizing. We were not disappointed. There were quite a few vegetarian options and we settled on the vegetable rolls, Pad Thai and a Thai curry dish where we substituted meat with tofu. The vegetable wraps were delectable. They had tofu, rice, carrots and some other veggies served with a side of peanut sauce. Very tasty. The Pad Thai was good though different from the Pad Thai I typically find at Thai restaurants. Their noodles were much smaller potions and not the typical flat, rice Pad Thai noodles. Their sauce was very bland. Pad Thai comes with a strong sauce liberally smothering the noodles. They had some veggies and a side of peanut crumbles. They also did not provide for the side of sauces that typically come with the dish. Then again this is a food truck and perhaps unfair to compare them with the typical restaurant cuisine. The taste was good though. It was dry but I finished the dish with some appreciation of their flavors. The tofu curry dish was a disappointment. It was essentially peanut sauce and fried tofu with a seasoning of some spices. The combination of tofu, peanut, coconut milk made it very heavy and the taste was average. I would give it no more than a 5/10. The prices of the dishes are on the higher side. But that is typical of Kauai, considering that it’s a tourist town and expensive to begin with (gas is about a $1 more per gallon than in mainland). When I had a moment to really connect with them, they offered some tips about local beaches and eateries and I really appreciated that. The fries were okay. We chose to sit down and eat inside instead of going the the drive through window. Prices were reasonable considering its Hawaii. We got a sprite and two cheeseburgers that come with fries and we spent $33. The soda was 2.75. There were a good amount of food options, not just burgers. The service was good 👍, no complaints at all. ❤️ Really relaxed, low key place, exactly what we needed after 11 hours in the air. Nice people behind the counter, and patient since we were new customers. It seemed a local favorite. Everything we got was pretty mid, we ordered the Hawaiian plate, katsu curry chicken, and some burgers. The Hawaiian plate was okay, the salmon side had interesting noodles and not much flavor. The katsu curry was okay, the chicken wasn't overcooked or anything just needed more sauce and generally more flavor. Mac salad was a big mushy and mostly tasted of mayonnaise.
