Lovely atmosphere (wood beams, low ceilings, wood burner perfect for a cold October evening), plus a lively local clientele. Situated just across the street from St. Davids War Memorial (town square) and minutes from the amazing cathedral. Real ales on offer and the best burger I've had in some time. We enjoyed it for dinner on our first night in St. Davids and came back for after dinner drink the next night.

If you browse the menu and find it expensive be assured we thought the quality of the food was worth it as a little holiday treat. I had the Sunday Roast which had a perfect ratio of veg (well done roast parsnips and carrots married with a bed of crunchy sugar snap peas and cabbage) to meat (two generous thick slices of lamb). My friend had the cow burger. The addition of a dollop of Welsh rarebit on the burger giving it a fun twist. They also commented the coffee was particularly nice. I had a small Pinot Grigio which was smooth and inexpensive. Most tables had dogs with them at Sunday lunchtime so be aware if you’re not keen. Especially on wet days. Parking is limited, but plenty of room a minute down the road at the public car park opposite the lime kilns. Will be recommending to friends to make it a feature of a day trip out from Swansea.

We've had countless meals here now over the last two years, and sampled many an ale from Bluestone, the most phenomenal West Coast Collaboration in the local area. Every time we're back in the area, we're sure to visit. From the delectable pizzas, to the glowing service and excellent craft ales on tap. I can't recommend a place highly enough. Plus, if you love the European cabin experience, the outdoor and indoor seating areas really foster that atmosphere, especially in the warmer weather. Ever in anticipation of our return!!

Sea air and top class pizza is better than melatonin and nytol it turns out. Grain's mission? "To pair outstanding handmade pizzas with brilliant craft beer, all served in a warm, welcoming space in the heart of St Davids." Stand down Tom Cruise. Mission accomplished. The courtyard is makeshift, functional. The inside bit just rigid enough to feel like these people are here for the long run. The key here isn't comfort as the wooden benches will politely remind your bum and lower back after your second slice. The key is quality living cheek by jowel with informality. You get more than you would reasonably expect from the set up. Pizza that bursts with flavour. Crusts you could lay your head on for a 20 min snooze. Olives, almonds and other assorted nibbles as generous as they are high quality. Served by young people with nose rings who are more confident and charming than they should be at that age. Summer jobs these may be for all concerned but the key is that a team has been curated who care first for the food, second for the envelope at the end of the week. Booking is essential. City it may be but finding somewhere good to eat after 4pm is not easy here. A constant stream of couples, families and a smattering of locals tip up throughout the evening. Crack open a locally brewed beer and people watch for as long as the back can take it. It's mesmerising. Everyone is happy. Not even yelping jack russels can ruin this. My 'strumble head' pizza was salty verging on the dangerous. Mackerel AND anchovy? Each bite drew moisture from my body. I watched as my skin became translucent and paper-like and shrink-wrapped around my veins. Had I the requisite muscle I could have shown out at Mr Universe by the time I was devouring my sixth slice. Totally worth it btw. The missus went puttenesca. Never boring when done with love as this was. Outside in another tent, a team of three beaver away furiously in front of a big wood fired pizza oven. Order after order. One after the other. Bosh bosh bosh. Is this a holiday to them too? They seem to be enjoying it. Grain is the official heartbeat of Britain's smallest city. A wonderful reminder of what's possible with a patch of concrete, a couple of tents and a grasp of what good pizza can do for the soul. The day they call it a day I will be driving up with the difibrillator, screaming, wailing, pumping volts like a demented Dr Nick. Places like this should live forever.

This is a serious failure in duty of care. No waiver, no disclaimer, no responsibility taken. The food itself was decent, but the handling of allergens was reckless. In 2025, it’s shocking that a restaurant can advertise allergy-friendly dishes without staff training or safeguards. To top it off, no apology in the form of a reduced bill or gesture of goodwill, just poor service and dangerous business practice. If you have any kind of allergy or intolerance, avoid this place. Rather than a shop as sorts she runs this out of her own home and has fresh crab and lobster brought to her from the harbour each afternoon. I telephoned and they admitted their error but said I'd have to call in to get the item refunded. This would require a special journey as I am on holiday and have no reason to go into St David's agian.
