I travelled with my nephew to visit Betreed for an experience as rural and as close to nature as possible. And that's exactly what we got. Upon arriving, we were treated to witness several peacocks roaming the grounds, a deer casually passing by and families of macaques teaming in the trees close by. Sharyn and Ben, the hosts, have created a unique getaway that i will never forget. The house you stay in is simple and very basic, but so incredibly comfortable with a stunning outdoors shower. The Zipline above the trees canopies is exhilarating. You can visit Old temple ruins on one of several nature walks, where we got to see black and red squirrels, among other wildlife. Molly, the tame, yet wild, gibbon came to visit us twice for her breakfast. And one little monkey became a very good friend to us (see in pictures). Prasat Preah Khan is a large temple located close by with stunning engraving on the walls, though sadly much of it is laying in ruin. But well worth to see! We were the only people there! Sharyn's cooking and Ben's stories were absolute highlights of our stay. These guys are doing such incredible things for Cambodia's wildlife and fauna, living in the heart of the jungle, protecting it from illegal activities such as logging and poaching. The sad reality is, if Ben and Sharyn weren't actively protecting that region of forest and jungle, it would already be destroyed. I would hugely encourage anyone with a sense of adventure to visit this incredible place, while you can. Truly off the beaten track - bring books and games to detox from screens too. :)
Best to come for a few nights so that you can have time to relax in the nature. Ben and Sharyn’s are just lovely and their work to conserve the wildlife sanctuary is admirable. A bit far but you will definitely enjoy the time here, listening to birds and insects and other animals in the morning, hiking up the mountains or going for a jog in the forest, or zip lining if you are even more adventurous, and of course bird watching and hanging around with some animals around their house like Sok the monkey, Molly the gibbon, Sammy the civet, the peacocks and the two horses, just to name a few.
Lovely hosts who have lived in Cambodia 20+ years. They know the area inside out. Delicious food and amazing forest. Do 2 nights if you can. Zip line also fun!
I stayed there and it was the best time ever. Getting up to the forest, birds singing, and the sounds of other animals were so unreal. It is not just an eco home stay. It’s where you can see protecting forest and wildlife. You can also go on zip lines and explore the hidden cave. Highly recommended
Mesmerizing stunning place in the heart of wet jungle. Protected area in a proper and good hand of one couple. They arrange everything - perfect hospitality, cleaning, supply food and adventures. Came to where with open heart and don't say anybody about this palace. It's must be unique.
Great place for ecotourism and quietness. More chances to see wildlife while staying here. A chance to see American family who live here inside the jungle and try to preserve the jungle. I love the treehouse, amazing small house up the tree for 4pax. Amazing, better book in advanced for availability.
I super enjoyed staying there! I got to see so many types of wild animals and met awesome people. It's quiet and relaxing. Looking forward to seeing it again.
I love this place so much. If you are people who like nature, you shouldn't miss Betreed advanture. It has a very beuatiful view and other differences wildlife animals. You can see many kinds of attractiveness animals , and you can also claim the mountain to see temple and other places on Tnoat mountain. Mr. Ben and his family are very friendly also.
