Sam Mountain, located in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, is a significant peak and holy site with numerous temples. Rising 284 meters above sea level, it offers picturesque views of the surrounding plains. Visitors can explore historic structures like Thoa Ngoc Hau Tomb and Temple of Confucius before heading to the mountain. The area around the base of Sam Mountain is home to several pagodas and temples, including Ba Chua Xu Temple.
Amazing place. What a surprise. The mountain is has a cable car to the top. There you find a magical instagram able site and snack stalls and garden but it was the Temple at the bottom which is tardis like, and developed into so many cave rooms; that really blew us away. So peaceful and beautiful. Plus lots of Vietnamese come here to take lovely photos of themselves in national dress. Loved it here.

2 ways to reach the summit, drive a vehicle or take a cable car. I'd prefer the first one. There are many beautiful pagodas on the way up to the mountain, you can drop by. This is the highest mountain in the Mekong Delta, a nice place for overview of the area and also a sacred place. The statue of Ba Chua Xu was found here and then was moved to the current temple.

Tay An Buddhist Temple

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Tay An Buddhist Temple, located in the Sam Mountain complex, is a 19th-century pagoda that showcases a blend of Vietnamese and Indian architectural styles. The temple's facade features three round onion-shaped roofs adorned with vibrant colors, creating a harmonious and visually striking appearance. With an area of 15,000 square meters, the temple is home to over 200 statues, predominantly crafted from wood with intricate designs that reflect both cultural and artistic values from the early 19th century.
I don't understand all that is happening here but it seems to be a vietnamese pilgrimage. It's a 5 hour drive from HCM. We drive through the night and arrive well before the sun is up. I think it's to beat the crowds. The local Buddhist people go to pray. Only takes a few minutes. Then have a feed and back in the car for the drive home.

Many people come to worship even not a special occasion. The area inside is quite small and narrow but the architecture is interesting and impressive.

Xian Temple, also known as Xian Chua Temple, is a Buddhist temple located at the junction, at the foot of Sam Mountain (now belonging to Nui Sam Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province). This temple was classified by the Ministry of Culture as a "national art and architecture monument" according to Decision No. 92 / VH.QD dated July 10, 1980; and officially recognized by Vietnam Record Book Center as "the temple with the architecture combining Indian art style and the first ancient architecture in Vietnam". Tay An Pagoda is located on a high, airy ground, in an area of 15,000 m2. Behind, there is Sam Mountain as the screen breaks out with a dark green color. The most impressive point of the pagoda is the main face with three ancient houses, which are round bulbous in shape, with colorful but harmonious colors. The temple is built in the style of "tam", with architecture combining Indian art style and ancient Vietnamese national architecture. The pagoda was built with durable materials such as bricks and tiles, cement. At the gate of the three gate is the statue of Quan Am Thi Kinh, inside the gate is a small pagoda yard with a high column of 16 m. The front of the pagoda, in the middle, is a two-storey Buddha worshiping tower. On the upper floor is a statue of Buddha standing in the middle of a high floor, especially in the middle of the front of the pagoda is a tower built in the style of Menara Azan of the mosques (Islam) with a round, high dome. This is probably the influence of the architectural styles of the Muslim villages (Islam), namely the holy mubarak, Chau Giang on the other side of the Hau River, not far from Xi'an pagoda. Four pillars on the lower floor are guarded by guardians, and on the front are two elephants: white and black. The main hall is a large row of houses, two-storey roofs, roofed with large tubes, wooden pillars, plugs, tile floors. The two sides are the gong floor and the quadrilateral drum floor, decorated on top of the statues of sacred animals (long, unicorn, qui, pho) very fine art. The great grand rose in the bell tower was created in the 32nd year of Tu Duc (1879). In the main hall there are about 150 [6] statues large and small: Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, Bat set of vajra, Jade Emperor, Huynh Emperor, Shennong god, etc. elaborate and fine art, representing Vietnamese sculpture in the 19th century. In addition, the pagoda also has many galleries and couplets, vibrant colors. In 1847, the governor of An-Ha (An Giang and Ha Tien), Doan Uan (1795-1850), was happy to set up a great army to defeat the Siamese army, pacify Chan Lap and built a throne. pagoda with brick walls, green stone rolling background, tile roof; and named it Xi'an himself, which implies quietness in the West. In 1861, Venerable Hoang An (Nguyen Nhat Thua) restored the main hall and the post-ancestors. In 1958, Venerable Thich Buu Tho (1893–1972) mobilized to build three new ancient houses, the main and the main hall, so the pagoda has the appearance like today. The first abbot was Venerable Nguyen Van Giac (1788–1875), the legal name of Hai Tinh, who followed the Lam Te sect, so some people called Tay An pagoda the Lam Te pagoda.

Phước Điền Tự, also known as Hang Pagoda, is a Buddhist temple located atop Sam Mountain in An Giang province. Built around 1840 - 1845, it is a nationally recognized historical relic with a serene and ancient charm. The pagoda features statues on hillside staircases leading into a network of shrinelike caves, creating a unique and mysterious atmosphere that draws visitors from across the country.
Lovely temple, free to enter, motorbike barking 10K. Includes a climb up the hill with many different places to worship and a cool cave/tunnel system to explore as well.

The pagoda is halfway up on Sam mountain, with many steps to climb up to the pagoda. The architecture of the pagoda is massive, divided into many sections worthshiping visiting apart from the main hall. I was there on Jan 20, when this pagoda was under maintenance and repair, and there weren't many worshiping activities.

A huge pagoda with many constructions inside. Beautiful and impressive. The landscape around is quite nice.

One of the most beautiful religious sites and pilgrimages in Chau Doc. The sanctuary is my favorite compared to commercial shrines in town which I would like not to mention. If you look forward to seeing a quiet, calm, and truly Vietnamese shrine, the Hang pagoda should be on your list. The location is perfect, on mountain side facing the wide delta with numerous rice paddies. The architecture is beautiful and the plants are lush and green

A beautiful temple complex om Sam Mountain. Must see if you are in the vicinity. The entrance is free. The visit is mostly along stairs - being on a mountain - but it's not a hard walk. Nice views of the surroundings.

This pagoda is a magnificent construction. You can see it in the middle of Sam mountain from the way back from Tri Tôn. There are many steps to walk to the main hall, reasonable design, good view around, peaceful and calm when you come here. Especially there is a temple in cave and Buddha statue on the cliff on top.

Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum

Mentioned on
8 lists
The Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum, also referred to as Son Lang, stands as a remarkable testament to the architectural brilliance of the Nguyen Dynasty in southern Vietnam. Nestled near Sam Mountain and alongside the Vinh Te Canal, this site exudes a serene and respectful ambiance. It serves both as a tomb and temple honoring Nguyen Van Thoai, who played a pivotal role in exploring and developing the An Giang region.
Thoai Ngoc Hau tomb, also known as Son Lang, formerly belonged to Vinh Te commune, now belongs to Nui Sam ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang province. This is a famous landscape, an ancient architectural work during the feudal period, and a national historical monument of Vietnam (ranked in 1997). Son Lang is located at the position that Thoai Ngoc Hau (real name Nguyen Van Thoai) chose to make him a permanent resting place for him later. The work was started in an unknown year, only knowing that when his second wife, Truong Thi Miet, died (July 7, Tan Ty, 1821), he buried her there (on the left of the tomb). his in the future). In October of the year of Binh Tuat (1826), his main wife, Chau Thi Te, died. He was also buried there (on the right of his grave in the future). Thus, it can be said that Son Lang was built by Thoai Ngoc Hau (unknown whether it was basically completed or only partially) before his death in June of the Year of the Ox (1829). Son Lang is located at the foot of Sam Mountain, and is adjacent to Highway 91 today. This is a huge but harmonious architectural block. Want to go to the tomb, must go through nine laterite steps over a hundred meters long, build a trapezoid and then to the yard. The patio is flat, wide, with two small houses built by the following people: one used to store Thoai Son stele (copy) of white marble; two were used to make the statues of horses and foot soldiers ... Next was the ring and the gates of the semicircular mausoleum were cast thick, so the tomb looked like it was solid. Notable artifacts where the wall has the entrance, is the stone tablet by the following people gathered and attached to the wall. The middle beer is most likely the Vinh Te Son beer erected in 1828, four years after the Vinh Te canal has been dug. The stele was taller than the head, made of sandstone, and carved 730 Chinese characters. Because it was left outdoors, without care, the stone surface was cracked and eroded, so the words were no longer readable. The remaining four steles have also been smoothed out by time, so it is unclear to leave ... Through the gate are three tombs located in the middle of the square. Mo Thoai Ngoc Hau is in the middle, the two tombs are the main tomb of Ms. Chau Thi Te and the second tomb of Truong Thi Miet (built a little back to show respect). All of them were built with umbrellas because there was no cement at that time. At the top of the three tombs is a screen lined with Chinese characters. At the foot of the tombs are inscriptions. Follow the stairs up, out of the square is the temple of Mr. Thoai. The temple leaned against Sam Mountain, and was later erected [4]. In the temple is beautiful decoration, there is a bust of Thoai Ngoc Hau with enough ceremonial clothes, creating a cozy and dignified space ... Nghia Trung, the burial place of the dead during the digging of Vinh Te Canal. In the inner tomb and on the left and right side of the square there are also two large areas of land. There are more than 50 tombs built with opaque lake, tombs built with elephant pictures, tombs built in a long or square shape, etc. These tombs are anonymous, most of which are the remains of people. he abandoned himself while digging the Vinh Te canal, which Mr. Thoai gathered. Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum belongs to the Sam mountain scenic area which was recognized as a national historical monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information of Vietnam on December 1, 1997.

Market
Chau Doc Market is a popular destination in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province. Located at Bach Dang Street, it's known for its friendly locals who are always willing to help visitors find their way. The market offers a vibrant atmosphere with colorful shop fronts and is the largest town near the Vietnamese/Cambodian river border crossing.
If you like gritty, authentic local markets that don't cater in the slightest to tourists, this is the place for you. Lots of variety and quite extensive. I have read it's a great place to eat, but we came midmorning and only found a few options.
Jonathan K — Google review
An eclectic mix of stalls with hairdressers, nail bars, tattoos, massages etc. scattered among the vegetables and t shirts. Jam packed with stalls, might be a problem if you're claustrophobic. Fun people watching and taking pictures, if you ask stall holders whether they mind first.

Good food. However if you can't eat fish sauce, you shouldn't try bún mắm or bún cá
Hiếu Đ — Google review
Lots of goodies. Make sure you check a few stalls as prices vary.
CT N — Google review
It's a market.. It's a boreing market. Why you ask.. Unfortunately in Vietnam especially.. When you vist a market all the stalls are selling the same food products. I have seen this across my extensive trips around Vietnam... If you have one stall selling mango. I gaurantee you have 20 more stalls selling mangos. There is know variety here it's the same thing at each stall Which is disappointing.. And the vendors get very pissed if you do not buy from them... So yes it's a market. But it's a very boreing market after the first 5 minutes..

Lady Temple at Sam Mountain

Nestled at the base of Nui Sam, Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, also known as Mieu Ba Chua Xu, is a bustling religious site in Vietnam. Devotees can be seen preparing offerings outside the temple, including whole pigs, roast chickens, fruit towers, rice cakes, and pink lotus blossoms. Inside the temple are numerous statues dating back to the 19th century and several stupas dedicated to deceased monks.
The Lady of the Land Temple is currently located at the foot of Sam Mountain in Sam Mountain Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, but the statue of Lady of the Land was previously located on the top of the mountain. Later, people invited her down to the foot of the mountain for the convenience of burning incense and taking care of her statue. There are also mysterious stories about moving the statue down the mountain that cannot be explained. In the past, before the temple was built, Vietnamese people went up the mountain and accidentally saw a long-forgotten statue. People did not know if it was a god, a saint or a religion, but they followed the custom of worshiping and worshipping, so they placed an incense burner to burn incense and worship their spiritual beliefs. But the special thing was that Lady of the Land was very sacred at that time, making people especially believe in and worship her.
Adventurous — Google review
During our first visit to Vietnam, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, and it truly was a unique experience. What made our visit even more special was that we arrived during one of their important celebrations — a vibrant gathering of locals and visitors alike coming to the monastery to make offerings and participate in traditional rituals. The atmosphere was lively and deeply spiritual, with many people paying their respects and celebrating together. We visited around April 5th or 6th, which coincides with an important date in the local calendar (possibly the Hùng Kings’ Festival or another regional observance). Witnessing the temple in this moment of communal devotion was unforgettable. The monastery itself is beautiful, serene, and rich in cultural significance. If you find yourself in the area, a visit to the Lady Temple on Sam Mountain is an absolute must — whether you come during a special occasion or just for a peaceful day of exploration.

The temple is located at the base of Sam mountain and there are many tourist destinations nearby. This is a spiritual place and a sacred temple. There are several legends about the statue of the lady and about this temple that make this place become more and more famous. The temple's most important festival is held from 23rd to 26th of the fourth lunar month. Thousands of people from across the country gather to workship and celebrate. I came on a weekday, just a normal day but still very crowded and a bit difficult to find a parking lot.
Han N — Google review
Been to Sam Mountain five times now and I still love it. Great views, lots of temples, and a really calm vibe. I always pick up the holy bead bracelets here to bring back for friends — they make great souvenirs and are said to bring good luck.

This is considered a sacred pagoda, a destination for visitors, especially on the occasion of Lunar New Year. Update: came back after 5 yrs still a pleasant, value place to visit. No need to buy ticket. Came in weekday so was not crowded. Took approximately 6 hours driving by car from Ho Chi Minh City to here. Highly recommend to come with a trust local travel guide because local people do not speak English.

Tra Su Cajuput Forest, located in An Giang Province, is a vast 800-hectare mangrove landscape that serves as a sanctuary for numerous bird species. Visitors can explore the area by small boat, navigating through narrow channels surrounded by gnarled cajuput trees. The forest is home to a diverse range of colorful birds and other wildlife such as storks, herons, bats, snakes, and turtles.
Incredible place. Apparently it was re-wilded in the 1980s and protected since 2004. Absolutely magical. The biodiversity and wildlife is amazing. The boat trips (one gentle canoe) and two long tail boat trips were fantastic. I could have spent all day just gently floating by. We were super lucky as it was really quiet. We only saw 2 other tourists on the delta that day highly recommend a visit.

Tra Su Cajuput Forest is absolutely a must-visit destination. We booked our trip through our hotel in Chau Doc, which offered a convenient all-inclusive package including tickets and transportation. This was essential because the forest is quite remote—definitely not a place you want to navigate on your own. Our driver took us there, waited patiently during our visit, and brought us back to the hotel, making the whole experience stress-free and seamless. The entrance tickets were included in the package, so there were no hidden costs. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the boat ride through the serene waterways of the forest, which is part of the ticket price—no extra fees. The lush greenery, peaceful atmosphere, and unique landscape make Tra Su Cajuput Forest a truly mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended! PS: Do not forget your mosquito repellent.

Beautiful forest with many birds and plants. We bought a combo ticket for 230K that included entry, paddle boat and motor boat. I really enjoyed how peaceful the paddle boat was. The motor boat was a little disappointing - rushed straight through the forest without taking any time to appreciate it. Many other boats were stopped for a long time to get pictures but we just zoomed straight past. They drop you to another part of the forest to explore and then take you back which was nice though. The entry point we put into maps was Thốt Nốt Sữa (Trà Sư) which had free motorbike parking. Definitely recommend going early in the morning.

If you’re looking for a place that perfectly captures Vietnam’s diverse forests and stunning natural beauty, this spot is an absolute must-visit. The entrance ticket costs 120,000 VND, with optional rides that make the experience even more memorable: a motorboat ride for 70,000 VND (round trip) and a rowing boat for another 70,000 VND (round trip). I highly recommend trying both! The motorboat takes you deep into the heart of the forest, where you can admire the vast scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Then, switch to the rowing boat — it glides through narrow forest paths, offering a closer, more intimate view of the surroundings. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a few birds up close! 🐦 On top of that, don’t miss the observation tower — the ticket costs only 5,000 VND, and it’s absolutely worth it! From the top (about five to six stories high), you’ll get a panoramic view of the forest stretching endlessly beneath you — a breathtaking sight you shouldn’t miss. 🌳✨ And here’s a fun bonus: the pigeons here are surprisingly friendly! You can buy a small pack of dried seeds for just 10,000 VND to feed them — some will even perch on your arms to grab a snack. It’s such a wholesome experience, and if you’re curious, check out my video below for a better look at the moment! 🎥✨ The staff here are super friendly, too. You’ll also find a few small souvenir stalls selling charming keepsakes like keychains, traditional Vietnamese costumes, and other handmade items — all at very affordable prices. I even got myself a mini coconut-leaf fan for just 40,000 VND

Although I was not interested in the scenery like this, it’s still worth visiting. You should visit it in the afternoon, then, you can see lots of birds. On the way to the forest from main gate, I found a bubble tea store, they had Palmyra palm milk tea which tasted good.

Vietnamese restaurant
Quán cơm Bảy Bồng is a popular dining spot located at 22 Duong Thuong Dang Le. The restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious and fresh dishes, with a focus on the sweet flavors typical of the southwest region of Vietnam. The menu is extensive, catering to both locals and visitors. While the atmosphere may not be particularly romantic, the friendly staff provides kind service in this simple-looking establishment.
Tasty local food in Chau Doc. Friendly staffs. My family and I love it so much!
Duc H — Google review
We had an order of catfish in a clay pot (70k) and frogs in a clay pot (70k). Portions were small for the price, and the fish consisted of three pieces of catfish in a thick sauce and a plate of rice. There were no vegetables included. I've had better food nearly everywhere else.
John Y — Google review
The best place for meal. It attract many tourists come here.
Mr. T — Google review
Foods are deliclous and fresh, it tends to be sweet which is typical flavor for people in south-west of Vietnam, it will be cooked right after the ordering. However, the price would be a bit expensive compared to the general price in this area

Good normal meal for dinner. Traditional Vietnamese food , like eating at home. Small places , better order table to be sure to get your place as it's always crowdy.

Very tasty, local, and price-quality ratio is great

Bassac Restaurant

Restaurant
Bassac Restaurant in Vietnam offers a satisfying dining experience with its delectable cuisine and splendid ambiance. Customers can relish the well-prepared dishes while enjoying a picturesque view of the Mekong at sunset. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and discreet, ensuring a pleasant visit. From appetizers like scallops to main courses such as Vietnamese chicken curry and clay pot fish (ca basa kho), every dish is flavorful.
Wonderful buffet breakfast indeed! Nice location and helpful staff!
Nit S — Google review
We just came to Bassac restaurant in order to enjoy dinner out. We arrived at the lobby, yet NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY welcomed us, and it’s supposed to be Victoria. We are accustomed to use Victoria (Mui Ne branch) for years. The receptionist saw us but didn’t even budge or call anyone to accompany us. After waiting for 10 minutes, I saw a female staff coming and talking to other customers, she passed in front of me several times pretending not seeing me, she was nice to them, spoke to them in English (that detail is important), smiled to them and was about to return to the restaurant. I had to yell “HELLO” multiple times before her neurons were able to process my call and finally turn her head. I spoke to her in English, she didn’t understand ; then I spoke in Vietnamese and she didn’t understand either. Finally after understanding my request, she coldly told me we had to wait for 45 minutes if we wanted to attend at the restaurant. Not even a smile, nothing. The POOREST service I have ever got from a 4 star hotel and restaurant. As I previously stated, we are regular customers from Victoria hotel chain and so far the service has been great. But Victoria Chau Doc is a joke. The personnel was just unprofessional. If I could rate 0 star, I wouldn’t have hesitated. Whether you are a hotel resident or an outside customer, everyone shall be treated with respect and politeness. This experience has tarnished the image I had of Victoria Hotels. Hope my message was clear.

The staff were amazing and so was the food. Very accommodating for our two Gluten Free family members. Recommend the Vietnamese Chicken Curry and the cocktails. Steak was delicious also. Highly recommended!

Great food in chau doc. Excellent staff. Magical atmosphere. You can try some amazing local food here - he portions are generous and the prices are reasonable for the hotel. They do have western food here too eg spaghetti Bolognese, Hawaiian pizza etc - but really I recommend trying something new and ordering a local dish.

Quán Mekong

Mentioned on
+1 other list
Restaurant
Nestled within a charming French-colonial villa that once belonged to a Nguyen Dynasty official, Quán Mekong offers an authentic taste of Vietnam with its diverse menu featuring southern staples like seafood, eel, quail, and frog. While the setting resembles a parking lot more than a picturesque courtyard—with basic metal tables and plastic chairs—the tablecloths add an unexpected touch of elegance. The restaurant is located in a historic area near the Victoria hotel but lacks river views.
I have been eating here since I was a child. Whenever my family needed a place to gather and dine, this restaurant was always our first choice. The food is delicious and still retains the same flavor as in the past.
Khoa T — Google review
I had a fantastic dining experience this restaurent. The food was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Every dish was well-prepared and beautifully presented. I especially loved cha gio and muc chien gion which was bursting with authentic taste. The service was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The staff made sure we were comfortable and provided great recommendations. The atmosphere was also cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend Mekong to anyone looking for high-quality food and great hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming backkk
Đỗ T — Google review
I was attracted to this place by the extensive and unusual menu. The food was fine, but not exciting; everything seemed to be a bit tame, which made sense given that all the patrons were Westerners. Overall, an enjoyable meal, and the server was delightful, but if I had to do it over again I would pick a more local establishment.
Jonathan K — Google review
Nice food was quite tasty. It was a little busy so the service was a bit slow. Looking for value for money and good food Quan Mekong is the place to go.
John W — Google review
We visited this restaurant while we were staying in a hotel nearby but we wanted a more authentic experience. The place is very simple but the food was excellent. The lady who took our order was really nice and kind always smiling. We tried shrimps and a great braised fish with a tasty sauce.
Federica G — Google review
I visit this place every time I'm in Chau Doc for almost fifteen years now. It has a brilliant location inside a quiet courtyard in front of an old, dilapidated colonial villa, and if it wasn't for the small plastic chairs and tables, this could be a romantic, upmarket dining spot. As it is, though, it's just a basic local eatery, but that's not a bad thing. I never had a bad meal here, actually. They have an English menu and cater to tourists as well, so you pay a little bit more than in other basic street eateries, but the food is still inexpensive by any standards and I like the atmosphere here.
André M — Google review
Just of the street restaurant with Vietnamese food (and an English menu). Food was of good.quality and portion.
Bert B — Google review
The food was good! The service rather less so! Our order was only taken after 15 minutes! Then nothing worked anymore! Although there were only 3 tables with 2 people each. After 10 minutes I was thirsty and went to the boss, she called the waitress to serve us the drinks! When ordering, I said that we wanted spring rolls first and then the main course (all in Vietnamese), but it was ignored and everything was served at once!

If you're on the hunt for an authentic Vietnamese culinary experience, Tiệm Cơm Mai is a must-visit destination. Nestled along Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in Chau Doc city, this charming eatery specializes in broken rice dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Their standout offerings include fragrant grilled ribs and crispy pork, which melt in your mouth with every bite.
Absolutely delicious! I had the rice with crispy pork — honestly I think that’s the one dish they do, but trust me, you don’t want anything else — and it was truly amazing. The pork is tasty and, even tough it’s crispy, it melts in your mouth. I had two portions of it, that’s how good it is. True authentic Vietnamese experience. Small street food cart, insanely tasty. And super cheap as well. I paid 55K for 2 portions of rice with pork and a bottle of water. That’s just 2€… insane! Totally recommended

Chau Pho Hotel is a modest yet convenient accommodation option in the heart of Chau Doc City, offering amenities such as breakfast and Wi-Fi access. Situated just a short drive from various tourist attractions and historical sites, it is a popular choice among budget-conscious foreign travelers for overnight stays. The hotel's rooms are well-equipped with modern conveniences, including flat-screen cable TVs and minibars.
The hotel has a convenient location, close to the city center. Rooms are clean, modern, and well-equipped. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is varied and of decent quality. However, soundproofing could be better, as it can get a bit noisy. Overall, a good choice at a reasonable price.

Transportation in Chau Doc

Getting around Chau Doc can be a little daunting if you’re new here. We can help list some of the major public transportation methods if you don’t want to rely on a car.

Nearby airports

Can Tho International Airport

International airport
Can Tho International Airport is best visited between December and February for cool, dry weather. It's clean and spacious with smooth operations, but has limited dining options. The airport is not overcrowded, making it easy for international passengers to navigate. However, some travelers have reported limited food choices and unfriendly security staff. Despite being small, the airport offers reasonably priced amenities and quick check-in processes.
Smaller airport, but that makes it much simpler for everyone. I had a vietjet flight from here and the lady who gave us the boarding pass was extremely helpful. The check-in and security was easy and fast. There is no public transport so you will have to come by taxi (grab), which you can get even in the early morning. There are a couple of cafes as well for you to eat and drink.
Pratyush S — Google review
Considering the size of airport in this south Vietnamese city, Can Tho airport is clean and modern. Unfortunately there is no direct transportation so you’ll need to come by taxi. (12/2024) there are cafes landside and airside for one each. Airside gift shop sells some local products but not so many.
Shioka O — Google review
Airport is very clean and not over crowded. International passenger will find it very easy to go through the process. Smoking area is present for smokers. Seating for visitors is adequate and clean.

A very clean and spacious airport. Everything runs smoothly and on time. The only complaint I have is that there is only one restaurant. This restaurant does not offer any vegetarian or fish only meals. Luckily we only had an hour layover.
Janna K — Google review
No tourist friendly, no car rental, no sim card shop, no tour guide. Consider it is small city, it is ok. But thr are only 3 shops available.
X T — Google review
It's an international airport but it's quite small. Everything is not too expensive to buy with acceptable cost. I didn't have a good experience with security scanning staffs, they're so rude !
Hiếu H — Google review
Approaching to the airport is fast thanks to its near-the-center location 👍 It is doing just fine, the process is really smooth. I'm hoping for any further upgrades and new routes.

Phnom Penh International Airport

Phnom Penh International Airport is a modernized travel hub served by various international airlines, making it accessible from different parts of the world. The airport offers a comfortable atmosphere with ample seating and relaxation areas for travelers. Additionally, it features popular dining options like Dairy Queen and KFC, providing convenience for passengers. Moreover, the presence of well-known brands such as Starbucks and travel accessory stores adds to the overall convenience for travelers.
Phnom Penh International Airport is very clean and well-organized. The staff are friendly and helpful. The check-in process was quick and easy. The waiting areas are comfortable with good facilities. I had a smooth and pleasant experience overall. The shops and restaurants have great options. Security checks were efficient and professional. I would happily travel through this airport again!

Smooth and Convenient Travel Experience PNH Airport is clean, well organized, and easy to navigate. Immigration and baggage process are usually quick. Staff are helpful and there are enough shops and food options for travelers. Great for both arrivals and departures!
Roknuzzaman M — Google review
I visited Phnom Penh recently and really liked the cozy vibe of the airport. It may not be very glamorous in appearance, but what stands out is the dining area with its multiple food counters offering a good variety. I tried a chicken panini and a carrot cake at one of the outlets and truly enjoyed both. The airport is also quite clean, with convenient pickup points nearby, which made the overall experience pleasant and hassle-free.
Dr. R — Google review
The Techno Airport in Cambodia was a pleasant surprise after navigating other Southeast Asia airports. Unlike Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City Airports, the Techno is clean, well organized and modern. It is a new airport, opened in 2025 and includes the most updated equipment. The baggage conveyor belt has an innovative & efficient design which contributes to a smooth check-in process. The geometrical design is beautiful and the airport personnel are polite, helpful and also proud of their new digs.
Lorie S — Google review
That must be the last time I travel through this airport. It is the busiest international airport in Cambodia and serves as the country's main international gateway. It is Cambodia's second largest airport by area. During the Japanese occupation of Cambodia they built as many as fifteen airports through the country, including on the site of the current airport. It is reported that these airports were built using slave labor. After independence from France in 1953, King Norodom Sihanouk ordered new airstrips or improvements to existing sites.
Vira T — Google review
✈️ Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) - Honest Review 📅 Visit Date & Time Visited in late June 2025, arriving around 2 PM for an international departure. 🎯 Purpose of Visit Solo international travel, business-related. ⸻ 📍 Location & Accessibility Phnom Penh International Airport is located about 10 km west of the city center. Getting there by taxi or ride-hailing services like Grab takes around 30–45 minutes depending on traffic, which can be unpredictable in Phnom Penh. Road signage is decent, but the immediate area around the airport can be slightly congested during peak hours. ⸻ 🚗 Parking & Outdoor Environment There is a paid parking lot right in front of the terminal with both short-term and long-term options. It’s not very large, but it’s well-organized and usually has available spots. Drop-off and pick-up zones are also fairly efficient, with security staff helping to keep things moving. The airport exterior is clean but relatively modest. It doesn’t have the ultra-modern architecture of major Asian hubs, but it’s functional and approachable. ⸻ 🚪 Entry & Accessibility The terminal entrance is easy to access and includes ramps, wide doors, and flat surfaces, making it wheelchair-friendly. Security presence is visible but not intrusive. Signage in English and Khmer makes navigation smooth for foreign visitors. ⸻ 👀 First Impressions The first impression inside the terminal is quite positive. While the airport is not very large, it is tidy and well-lit. There’s a calm, slightly tropical vibe with wooden accents and plenty of natural light near the boarding gates. ⸻ 🛋️ Interior & Atmosphere Restrooms: Restrooms are clean and generally well-maintained, though a bit small. Paper supplies and soap are fully stocked. Ambiance: The atmosphere is relaxed. Background music is minimal, and announcements are clear but not disruptive. It doesn’t feel overly crowded, even during busier times. Seating: There’s decent seating throughout the terminal. While not luxurious, there are cushioned chairs with armrests and charging stations in select areas. Ventilation & Climate: Air conditioning works well throughout the terminal—cool but not freezing. Ventilation is adequate, and the air quality feels fresh, not musty. Lighting: Natural light floods much of the terminal, particularly near the departure gates, creating a bright and welcoming ambiance. ⸻ 👨‍✈️ Staff Service The staff at Phnom Penh International Airport are courteous and helpful. Security and immigration officers were professional and efficient. Airline ground staff spoke English and provided clear directions. Check-in was smooth and quick, with short queues. Staff were also accommodating in helping passengers with special needs or questions about baggage. ⸻ 🍽️ Food & Shopping The airport offers a small but reasonable selection of food options. Local Cambodian cuisine is available at a few kiosks, along with international choices like Burger King and Coffee Club. Prices are a bit high for Cambodia but still lower than most Western airports. Shops: Duty-free selections include liquor, perfumes, cosmetics, and local souvenirs. There are also small convenience stores where you can buy travel essentials, snacks, and bottled water. While not a shopping destination, it covers the basics for travelers. ⸻ 🧳 Facilities & Convenience Wi-Fi is free and easy to connect, though speed can be inconsistent. Charging ports are available but limited, so finding one might take a bit of effort during peak hours. There are no lounges operated by the airport itself, but several airline-affiliated lounges are accessible with business class tickets or lounge passes. ⸻ 💰 Pricing & Value Given its size, Phnom Penh International Airport delivers decent value. There are no surprise fees or hidden charges, and overall pricing—while slightly marked up—is acceptable by international standards
최낙훈 — Google review
It's an international airport but very small. Nothing attractive for tourists. There are essential facilities only, not like entertainment. However, a good point is always less people and no need to wait for immigration.
Yum T — Google review
My flight layover here for about 5 hours, but I needed to pay for a visa to stay, which was very unfriendly. In addition, the surrounding restaurants only accepted cash, and I couldn't find a place that accepted credit cards. I had to eat in the airport, but that was very expensive. A very bad transit experience.
