It's a port where you can overlook to honshu lsland from kyushu island, to of the 5 islands in Japan. The scenary and fantastic with good sunlight. A place to relax, but not much happening. Just some beautiful old style buildings there and a bridge connecting 2 islands
Visited Mojiko Retro District on September 12, 2025. Even in mid-September it was still hot and humid, but the retro-style buildings, old port atmosphere, and relaxed vibe made it a very enjoyable stroll. That day there were several pop-up shops selling dog goods and many visitors with their pets—possibly a special “Dog Day”—which gave the town a cheerful and lively feel. We also enjoyed the shopping area, where visitors can eat local dishes, relax in cafés, and shop for souvenirs. The retro setting makes it a pleasant place to wander and take breaks. In the early evening, we went up to the 31st-floor Observation Room near the waterfront. For just ¥300, we got a stunning 270° panoramic view of the port, the Kanmon Strait, and Shimonoseki across the water. Seeing the scenery shift from daylight to dusk, as the town lights began to glow, was unforgettable. I recommend visiting in the afternoon through the evening so you can enjoy both the daytime stroll and the magical night view from above. Mojiko Retro is compact, walkable, and offers the perfect mix of history, culture, food, and scenery.
A lovely port town with beautiful, European-style buildings and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for taking leisurely strolls and capturing scenic view.
Not recommend if you do not have free time. Nothing to do much. The view is amazing and beautiful but that's it. The banana soft cream is wonderful. However, overall is so so.
If you want to see one of the greatest examples of how western influence made its way in Japan, visit Mojiko Retro. It’s a beautiful dock with many European buildings and tons of dining options, shops, museums, view points and water features. The train station itself is already a great attraction.
Assuming this is the geotag of the wharf area, this is the most lively location where tourists and local partake in souvenir buying and eating, if not for the yaki curry to the east of the station. Made in Japan products and handicrafts line the bay area and many take shelter from the rain indoors. Since you are here, just get the banana products like cakes and tarts. I managed to buy a stack of Tirolian for my students back home. Feedback was that it was delicious, as is all snacks.
Mojiko Retro (in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka) is a historic port area famous for Western-style buildings, sea views, and its signature yaki curry. It’s one of the best places in Kitakyushu for a relaxed photo walk.
it's a wide open space park. There were flea market when we visited. There are some old buildings made by nostalgic red bricks and the bridge separated and opened letting some boats go in and out.

I first saw this place while out on my morning run (a short distance from Royal Rihga Hotel). It's in a beautiful urban area next to the river and is contrasted by modern architecture, shopping areas and restaurants. Inside the castle is educational, with many displays. There is a cafe on the top, 5th floor. The highlight for me in the castle were the massive tiger paintings.
Quite a small castle but fun to visit. Especially for kids. Some interaction games are good for learning which won’t make you bored. Excellent view of the Kokura city from the top floor. Well maintained and arranged inside out.
Kokura Castle is a genuinely lovely stop in Kitakyushu, offering a great mix of historical charm and engaging modern exhibits. While the current main keep is a 1959 reconstruction (the original burned down), the builders did a beautiful job. The castle exterior, surrounded by the moat and the peaceful Katsuyama Park grounds, is very photogenic—especially during cherry blossom season! Inside the castle, you'll find a well-designed, interactive museum. Unlike some older castles, the displays here are fun, with hands-on elements that bring the Edo period and the castle's history (including its famous residents like Miyamoto Musashi) to life. It’s definitely engaging for both adults and kids. The view from the top floor provides a nice panorama of the city, showing the blend of history right next to the modern Riverwalk Kitakyushu complex. Pro-Tip: Make sure to grab the combo ticket that includes the main keep and the adjacent Kokura Castle Garden for a great value and a peaceful break. Overall, it's a very pleasant, worthwhile, and affordable way to spend a few hours in the city.
So beautiful and the story of the castle and shogunate. I really like the place and the history. Everything is near. And there is a festival too. First time we visited here. Kokura Castle is also known as Cherry blossom castle🌸🏯
A small but charming castle with a huge parking lot just across the street. You can take the paid elevator up to the castle. There aren’t many interactive activities, but the view from the top floor is lovely and relaxing. The souvenir selection isn’t particularly exciting, yet the overall visit feels easy and pleasant — a nice, laid-back castle experience.
A historic castle. It's very beautiful and you can go inside. It has been burned down and rebuilt many times. It has the history of Japan written inside. It was very moving! You should definitely go!🏯
A nice town worth visiting, once you arrive at the Kokura station, use the south exit and walk along the way by using your google maps, nice walk no worries. A lovely garden nearby. Just buy the ticket upfront.
Rebuild after war , beautifully combined the new and old part of the buildings, and inject many vibrant elements into this historic site. Interactive devices applied to attract young people to getting to know the history of the city and its surrounding.

Built in 1891, updated in 1914, this Neo-Renaissance train station sits on a square with a fountain.
Slide 1 of 8
Mojiko Station is a station on the JR Kyushu Kagoshima Main Line in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu. The current station building is a wooden station building that was completed in 1914. It is a Neo-Renaissance style, symmetrical design, and is the first railway station building in Japan to be designated as an important cultural property, and is a representative tourist attraction in Mojiko.
Mojiko Station is beautiful—it really feels like stepping back in time. I actually visited twice in a row. The first time was during the Kanmon Festival, so it was extremely crowded. The second visit was the next day, and it was much quieter, which allowed me to enjoy the station more. I stopped by the information center (the staff there were very welcoming), and also visited the lost and found office next to the tracks—though that older building wasn’t as charming. Overall, I’m glad I came. It was a wonderful experience.
Mojiko is our first destination using the JR North Kyushu Pass this trip. Located in Kitakyushu, one can overlook Honshu from the port area. It's not a big place and it's not as crowded compared to Yufuin and the urban areas. We come here for the banana cuisines (beverages, snacks and incredibly banana baked curry) and the sea breeze. Many restaurants serving baked curry line up the streets along Mojiko Station. Head to the nearby observation tower for an unobstructed view. Before you reach, you will pass by a souvenir store for more banana goodies. The banana auction site, located a few metres out of the station was where bananas from Taiwan was auctioned off in the early 90s. There is another shopping arcade that encircled the port area, that's where most of the action is. Most of the attractions are located south of the station, making this an easy itinerary for a day trip.
A nostalgic journey back in time. Mojiko Station is a beautiful and historic place, perfect for exploring the charming streets and enjoying delicious local cuisine.
Mojiko station is a small train station that has a lot of history. The fountains for example are relects from 1914 and are still working. The buildings around it also look like they were built a long time ago. There is a fountain in front of the station. Across the street is the Moji Port. We took a ferry to go to the Karato Fish Market and visit tbe attractions nearby. We used the same route going back to Hakata.
This station faces the Kyushu Railway Museum and is a historical station. (The station building was completed in 1914.) The history of the station dates back to 1891. There were no bridges or tunnels in the Kanmon Strait when it first opened, and this station served as the gateway to the railways of Kyushu. The station building is an important cultural property and is popular among Japanese railway enthusiasts.
Very well kept station. None of the credit card readers actually work so bring yen if you feel bad about not paying. The staff here is chill. The fountains are sometimes turned on in the front. The station is clean and they have some cute plants by the rails.
Very nice retro European-esque station here.

A must visit place when you're in mojiko, here you'll learn the history of kyushu trains then and now. As a JR pass user I always wonder why there are old trains and newer trains and all these are explained here. Some interesting exhibits are old tickets, old trains that re removed, tracks types
Good for children. Paid for ticket. The outdoor train simulator requires ¥300 for 2 people. The indoor train simulator is free but takes a long time for waiting, STRONGLY suggests reserving the indoor train simulator first.
Kyushu railway history museum is a nice museum to understand more about trains, although not a very big one. You can try the train simulator and play with the model train for ¥100. You can even take the mini train ride to become a train captain for ¥300 but could be close due to bad weather.
What amazed me is how much they can fit inside of the tiny park area. With the ¥300 yen ticket per adult you can check out historic trains from the last century parked in a row, a mini outdoor railway park, a diorama room showcasing all the N-gauge Shinkansen and other iconic express trains in Kyushu, a train simulator room, a library of real, ancient relics on train history in Kyushu and so on.
Great museum. Tons of artifacts. Great layout. Just wish things were translated into other languages for non-Japanese speakers. If they were, I would give this five stars.
my sons love trains so when they know there is a train museum in kyushu, they keep nagging to go here. quite nice, not too big like the one we went on another city but they still like it. there are several old trains on the train garage with each of their history. we can also go inside the museum which shows many old things related to trains. kids also can play train simulator by paying 100 yen only, but you need to get ticket reservation because most children would like to play this.
Boring, nothing to see here but a few trains that you cannot enter. Bunch of Japanese kids running around and shouting. Perhaps this is what hell looks like. Everything that seems fun is paywar. Save the 300 yen for a menchi katsu instead
As a train fan this is the place I’ve been owing to go while in Kitakyushu. Adjacent to Mojiko Station there are old train carriages outdoors on display with three of them you can enter inside, as the interior is well preserved. The main building hosts a small 1900 carriage and an exhibition room upstairs with railway artifacts, station and destination signs and old photos. Though not as big as the one near Omiya it is great that there is one.

Strait

Both pleasure boats & cargo ships travel on this straight between the islands of Honshu & Kyushu.
Slide 1 of 8
A strait that separates the main island of Japan from Kyushu. In the past, a battle that greatly affected the history of Japan was fought at the foot of this bridge. Directly under this strait is an underground tunnel through which people can pass. The total length is about 780 meters and it takes about 15 minutes if you walk normally. It is better to go out to the exits on both sides and enjoy the two views.
The Kanmon Strait is very pleasant on a sunny day. It's a historic site where significant events took place, and arriving there felt very moving. If you're passing through by bicycle, there's a small fee of 20 yen.
It is a transit from South Korea to Japan and vice versa, named kannmon strait. The surrounding looks wow.If you passing in night then it looks more good. The colour of lights catch your eyes. Plenty hotels are there. It's a lifetime experience. If anyone get chance then don't missed out. Kannmon Bridge also looking very good from my ship.
My ancestors put their mark on history here.
(Translated by Google) The weather was not good, it was snowing and raining, and walking across both sides of the Taiwan Strait made everything seem unreal. (Original) 天候不佳,下著雪雨,徒步穿越兩岸,一切都顯得不夠真實

(Translated by Google) The scenery is amazing! There are not only bridges but also tunnels that can be accessed on foot or by bicycle. Despite the scenery and hot history (the downfall of the Heike clan, Ganryu Island, the end of the Edo period), I get the impression that tourism resources are not being utilized effectively. There aren't many tourists (you can usually park in the free parking lot right away. Is Mojiko Retro only more famous?).
(Translated by Google) I walked from Shimonoseki through the tunnel to Moji, but it was quite a distance. I had planned to take the Retro Line to Moji, but it is closed from December to March and there is only one bus per hour. It is essential to check the public transportation schedule in an unfamiliar place. The flowering season comes only once a year usually around early may, tickets go on sale in April online. Book you time slot for ¥500pp, when you arrive depending on the flowering quality you will need to top up to ¥1500pp like we did (full bloom) Ample parking, well coordinated and overall an amazing experience. Highly recommended. After ticket inspection, take the far right path. It's much easier to walk up. Please NOTE - this is NOT a place to have a picnic, you're not supposed to bring in any food or drinks. Don't be those people, ignorance is not an excuse.
We arrived around 9 AM on a Thursday, and the crowd was quite light—not many people, so it was easy to take photos with just a short wait. The flowers were in beautiful bloom, and there was a gentle floral scent in the air, which I found really pleasant—something like jasmine or Calendula officinalis. When we arrived by car, there were staff members helping with parking directions. There are restrooms available—fairly clean. The women’s restroom had four stalls, while the men’s had three, though one of them seemed to be temporarily out of order. The walking path is marked as one-way, but there didn’t seem to be any strict enforcement. We saw a couple in wedding attire—hopefully they got some lovely photos. There were also a few small items available for sale near the entrance, but not many.
We arrived at around 3 pm and was told we need to reserve a slot but I was having issues signing up online so the lady allowed me to pay with credit card. The flowers were already in bloom and it was a beautiful sight but there were too many people to be able to take a nice shot. Overall experience was great. And worth the travel. Very pleased with what I have seen and experienced.
It’s a nice place to visit if you are around kokura. Please buy tickets online and show the QR code to the staff at entrance. The flower tunnels are enchanting, and there are many benches for people to sit and appreciate the ambience. You may find different types of flora collection along the way too. This place is well managed with many staff to direct the traffic and parking. Parking is free. There are also some mobile toilet stands outside near the car park area.
We almost skipped this park because the ticket-buying process is a real headache: confusing website (at least during golden week there is no other way to get a ticket, not even on side) and there were even different prices depending on how “pretty” it currently is (felt a bit like a scam). Once inside, though, it was well worth it. Even during Golden Week it never felt overcrowded and everything was beautifully arranged which made this a worthy stop on our trip. If they could simplify the admission steps and ditch the beauty-based pricing, this would be a top-tier destination. As it stands, the flower park is fantastic, but the experience starts on a sour note.
If you don’t have car you need to get a taxi from yahata station even from mt sarakura too . Return around 3000 yen x2 . Now it’s 80% blooming, very pretty well look after wisteria flowers garden. * easier get tickets from 7-11 or Lawson for 500yen but when you go to the garden you will need to pay 1000-1500yen depending on the day of the flowers conditions.
Already almost full-bloom in late April 2025 (24th). Not too crowded on weekday. Beautiful wisteria tunnel, spherical cave filled with wisteria. Beautiful and nice place to go for sight-seeing. Have 3 tones of colors; white, pink and purple wisteria Recommended for flower lovers and photogenic persons.
A Hidden Gem Worth Visiting This stunning and affordable destination is open to the public twice a year, drawing a large number of visitors. Due to its limited opening periods, it's crucial to purchase tickets online in advance to secure your entry. While there are no restrooms within the premises, visitors can access clean and well-maintained facilities at the entrance. The venue's size is smaller than anticipated, allowing for a quick and enjoyable exploration.

Kokura Station is a key railway station in the Kitakyushu area. It is a transportation hub where Shinkansen, Kyushu Railway, and high-speed railways pass through, and it is the starting and ending point of travel in western Japan. There are various shopping malls and attractions around Kokura Station, including Aruaru City. In particular, Kokura is the hometown of Leiji Matsumoto, the author of Galaxy Express 999, and you can see statues of characters from Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock standing like mascots inside and outside the station.
"Kokura Station" is the northernmost Shinkansen station on Kyushu. It serves as the main junction for the "Kagoshima Main Line" and the "Nippo Main Line", with all Shinkansen trains traveling from Honshu to Kyushu stopping at this station. One convenient feature is that if you have a JR ticket from the "Kitakyushu City Area" but do not have a Shinkansen ticket, you can transfer to the Shinkansen without exiting the ticket gates at "Kokura Station". Simply purchase your same-day Shinkansen ticket from the green ticket machine. After purchasing your ticket, proceed to the platform and wait for your Shinkansen train to arrive. Once it arrives, you can board the train and enjoy your journey to your destination.
Kokura Station has an impressive hall that is spacious and welcoming. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, so you should have no trouble finding your way around the station. You will also be able to see the monorail line within the station, which is a great way to get around the city.
The train bursts from tunnels into new light — Kyūshū at last. Kokura hums with market energy and castle calm. It’s both gateway and greeting. Tourist Tip: Transfer to Kyūshū Shinkansen and Nippo Main Line. Visit Kokura Castle, Tanga Market, and Mojiko Retro District nearby.
Kokura Station is clean, modern, and easy to navigate. It connects Shinkansen, JR lines, and the monorail, making travel very convenient. Lots of shops, restaurants, and Amu Plaza nearby. Great location, friendly staff, and safe area — perfect for travelers in Fukuoka.
Very gorgeous station! After getting off the Shinkansen, going inside wasn't difficult. When you get near the exit and path to Monorail, it is a very nice view! Tons of stuff to see inside the station. Food and gifts.

The Old Moji Mitsui Club is located on the right side of Mojiko Station across the street. Mojiko is lined with old-fashioned Western-style buildings centered around the first pier, and one of the closest ones to the station is the Old Moji Mitsui Club. It is even more famous because it is said that Einstein and his wife stayed here. The first floor is a restaurant, and the second floor exhibits 200 items related to Hayashi Fumiko, a writer from Mojiko.
I came all the way to Japan, planned the trip to go to Kitakyushu, purposely booked a day tour that make a stop here so I can visit this historic place and try the baked curry– all that to be turned down upon entry with no explanation??? The day I visited, the nice host lady greeted me and my friend, asked if we’re here for lunch or the tour. We wanted to eat lunch first (it was around 14.00) and go upstairs to tour the place and check the Einstein room. Suddenly came this younger male staff, rudely keep saying “no lunch no lunch” while crossing his arms and keep pointing the exit to us. The lady staff look confused as well because she was ready to show us to our table. About a minute later, came this group of influencers with loads of cameras, equipments and all. They were very loud and don’t even care that other people are still in the premises (there are 2-3 people inside the restaurant). They just roam around like they own the place, leaving their equipments around the premises too. We understand that this group probably already booked and pay in advance for the event, but what about the other tourists like us that paid travel all the way here to visit, to be just rudely turned down WITH NO EXPLANATION? Will you compensate us for our time and the tour we paid? No right? I visited Japan so many times and this is my first time being so disappointed and feel disrespected in Japan. Luckily there’s this small restaurant nearby called “Curry Honpo Mojiko Retro” with high ratings and we can still try the baked curry there. Although I’m still upset that I cannot tour the Einstein room.
This is a guest house as the original purpose at 1921. Einstein stayed her at 1922. very good place to eat the famous fugu 🐠. #Einstein spend around 5 days in this place and he wrote magnificent letter describing the visit to Japan. The service of the place is extremely good, kind waitresses, and delicious Fugue. It is near train station and surrounded by secret love icons for couples to challenge their love and search for it.
You can pay ¥150 to visit the second story where you can see the room where Albert Einstein and his wife stayed as well as a large exhibit on the author Hayashi Fumiko. English translations are available for the exhibits on Einstein, but is very sparse for the rooms dedicated to Hayashi Fumiko. Her exhibit is very detailed and I was wishing I was more familiar with her work.
Before coming here, I didn't have any idea that Albert Einstein has been to Japan. Although Mojiko is visited by many Korean people, there is no Korean translations for visitors in this buildings or others. I was lucky to read Japanese and English. But you shouldn't ignore people from other nationalities who often visit the area. You have to take off your shoes if you want to see the second floor. That's why it would be better to have a bag.
Worthy of paying a visit to see this beautiful old mansion’s inside (ticket will set you back 100 yen per pax), although you won’t understand much of the exhibition there because all the information are in Japanese.
The vibe around is really cool even if I came on a rainy day People are really nice and the view is good

There was an awesome exhibit of nautilus fossils, a good collection of minerals and crystals - I'm a huge fan. A very well curated artefacts on the history of Japan, with lots of information on the different samurai clans. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hrs visit.
This has been the most mindblowing museum we have ever been to. The amount of information and the interactive exhibitions are truly exceptional! If you are ever in Fukuoka this is just one stop in the bullet train back in the direction of hiroshima. So you can be there in about 20 minutes. The dinosaurs are in the main hall and there are so many and so big that it's almost impossible to fit them in a proper photo. The only thing we regret was not going earlier as we didn't have time to buy anything in the gift shop because it was closing already. There were lots of things that were worth buying.
The Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History & Human History is a great museum that covers both ecology and history of Kitakyushu. The museum has a large area talking about how the earth was formed and how creatures evolved until now. For this part, they are doing well like other museums. After this section, then they focus more on both ecology and history of Kitakyushu. Overall, it is a very good museum and you will properly spend 1-2 hours there. During my last visit, the building was renovating outside but they have provided arrow signs to guide visitors to the entrance.
Wonderful museum... A must visit..
The museum is a sprawling (6,100 sqm) place, the largest nature museum on Western Japan. It has an impressive display of dinosaur skeletons that are conveniently and strategically positioned at the ground level of the museum. Themed "Journey in Life" the museum has a time travelling room and a natural history zone that has 4,500 exhibits including the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras
Great experience of visit, especially if you are really into Geography and history I’m sure you will gain a lot of knowledge. Not only serves merely information about the past, prehistoric period, it has the live attraction movie-like except it has the robot that similar the real dinosaurs about how dinosaurs live in the past, although the explanation given in japanese i was astonished by how they managed to make the visitors get the insights.
It is a museum that displays not only skeletal specimens, but also stuffed specimens, models, and dioramas in a variety of ways. The museum is very large, and it would take about two hours just to tour it in a normal way. The explanations are simple but to the point, and the tour is well-paced. In the latter half of the museum, there is an introduction to old Japanese culture, which is very interesting. There are many exhibits that can be touched as well as seen, so children can have fun.

Pedestrian drawbridge overlooking the Kanmon Strait, said to bring happiness to lovers who cross it.
Slide 1 of 8
Blue Wing Moji is a pedestrian bridge built in 1993. It was built as a special drawbridge to allow ships to pass. When the bridge opens for about 20 minutes every hour, six times a day from 10 AM to 4 PM, pedestrians are restricted and ships pass between the two bridges. When the bridge is fully opened, the bridge rises until it reaches almost 60 degrees, which is another spectacular sight. Blue Wing Moji is especially popular with couples, as there is a popular saying that if you hold hands and cross the bridge when it closes, you will be together for the rest of your life. As a result, it has become a well-known mecca for lovers, and tourists also visit this place as a tourist attraction.
It is a small bridge in the Mojiko area, which can be opened to allow boats to pass through. As I had seen the opening process of the much large London Tower Bridge, I just skipped and did not wait until the opening process. However, visitors who wish to watch the opening process can conveniently find out the time of opening and closing easily as there is an information board about the time next to the bridge.
Blue Wing Moji is a pedestrian swing bridge that operates a few times a day by allowing boats to pass. However, we didn't see any boats passing during its operation on both occasions. An non-obedient tourist will likely be cut off from the group if they did not heed the instructions of their tour guide. We saw a few groups of China and Taiwan tourists, judging from their mono colour umbrellas and accent taking photos and videos of the bridge and then running across the bridge dangerously. We used the bridge to get to the observation deck and then when returning, we explored the wharf area. Note: You don't need to access the bridge to traverse the retro area.
The bridge was inactive (due to New Yesr holidays?) and not many tourists during the day. However, the scene was very nice & quiet during the holidays.
Observing how the movable bridge operates to allow boats to pass beneath it was interesting. Literally, it was as if the bridge's wings were spread out into the clear blue sky. If you're ever in Kitakyushu City, I highly recommend visiting "Mojiko Retro." It's a beautiful place to explore.
Blue Wing Moji bridge is one of the signature tourist attractions in the area. It is not a huge bridge but it could be one of the easiest bridges for you to see how a bridge raising and lowering. It has a schedule to raise and lower so you don’t have to try your luck. You only have to come here as per schedule and you will be able to see the raising of the bridge. I highly recommend visiting this place if you visit Moji Port. You can refer to my photo to find the drawing schedule of the bridge and plan ahead.
Cold and Breeze in November 12, 2023 Nice landmark for chill and relaxing by the river.
A special bridge that open and close at certain times, for ships to pass and people to cross over. One of the attraction at Mojiko Retro.

Good location for travellers. There are a variety of shops and restaurants, so it was a good place to spend an hour or two on a hot summer day. It's right next to Kokura Castle, so it would be a good idea to park here and look around. Parking is quite expensive in Japan. I haven't read it exactly, but according to the explanation, parking is free if you have a purchase receipt after parking. It seemed to be divided into 1 hour and 3 hour sessions depending on the amount. There are also Ropia, Daiso, and Starbucks, so it won't be difficult to get a receipt. If I had known it would be this close to Kokura Castle, I would have parked here.
The building itself is spectacular and what’s more, it’s an excellent place to take pictures of the Kokura Castle.
its really a good place to spend a day there walking along the river bank. beautiful view and freash and cooling during winter
This place is very close to kokura castle, some cafes and restaurants, mall, and the river.not such a big place, but for sure it such a nice place to spend time with family and friends
The architecture is great, location is incredible but the shops sadly lacking. Very plain and basic. Nothing at all fancy...like cake or chocolate! Nothing! Very disappointed!
i love how this place near the Kokura Castle. so if u wanna have fun this place should be one of the recommended lists. in the bridge near the entrance u will see alot of pigeons who resting around the bridge and theres this elder who feed em with bread. its actually not a good idea to feed em but the elder seems so happy to feed em
This mall looks huge but only some shops are interesting. There are 7 shopping levels in this mall with familiar shops such as ABC Mart, Taito, Super Sports Xebio, 3coins+ and CanDo.
i loved the riverside view at night especially on winter. you can see decoration lights around the bridge near canalcity. and there was food street tends near the shrine on new year night.

Walking from "Mojiko Station (in Kyushu)" to "Shimonoseki Station (in Honshu)" was an amazing experience! I took many photos of the beautiful "Kanmon Bridge" from various places on both the "Kyushu" and "Honshu" sides. I even had the opportunity to walk through the unique underwater "Kanmon Tunnel", which made the entire experience unforgettable! *This walk is approximately 8 km long. Along the way, there are many spots to see, visit, and enjoy; it's a fascinating discovery walk. I recommend it!
Kanmon Bridge is a bridge connecting Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture. It opened on November 14, 1973, and is 1,068m long, and the height of the bridge is 61m from sea level. There are rest areas with good views on the north and south sides of the bridge.
If you are driving pass the bridge, would highly recommend to stop and enjoy the scenery land amazing architecture of the bridge. The stop area was located at Fukuoka prefecture side. Free parking are provided and there are also a restaurant to stop by.
A very beautiful place as well as surroundings. The authority always take of this places which is praiseworthy indeed.
suspension bridge that spans the Kanmon Strait, connecting the cities of Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture and Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The bridge is a prominent landmark in the region and is widely regarded as one of the most impressive bridges in Japan. The bridge is approximately 1.2 kilometers long and stands at a height of 47 meters above the water. The view from the bridge is stunning, with the sparkling blue waters of the Kanmon Strait stretching out in all directions. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the island of Tsushima in the distance. One of the best ways to experience the Kanmon Bridge is by taking a leisurely drive across it. The road is smooth and well-maintained, and there are plenty of pull-off areas where you can stop and take in the view. There's also a pedestrian walkway on the bridge, which is a great option if you want to take your time and really soak in the scenery. Another popular way to experience the Kanmon Bridge is by taking a boat tour that passes underneath it. This is a great way to get a different perspective on the bridge and really appreciate its scale and grandeur. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Kanmon Bridge if you're in the Fukuoka or Yamaguchi area. It's a beautiful and impressive structure that's definitely worth seeing in person
Although the weather was not really good, but the bridge is still beautiful and amazing.
Breathtaking views from Mekari parking bay. There's an observation deck. Lovely views, even during winter! We visited on 9 December.
went through under the bridge 4:00 AM on a ferry

His fans will certainly enjoy it and will never get tired of visiting again and again. You can learn a lot about Seicho Matsumoto with many valuable
He is a giant of Japanese literature and a true national writer, and he is the father of the social mystery novel, who created and led a new genre called the social mystery novel. He expanded the mystery novel from a cult audience to the general readership (office workers and housewives). He changed simple detective novels into mystery novels.
The Kitakyushu Municipal Matsumoto Seicho Memorial Museum is a literary museum located in Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu, that exhibits works related to the life and achievements of the author Matsumoto Seicho. After Seicho's death, it was decided to build a memorial museum in his hometown of Kokurakita-ku, with the aim of honoring his achievements and passing them on to future generations. It opened on August 4, 1998 (Heisei 10) in a corner of the southwestern edge of the Kokura Castle ruins. Inside the museum, Seicho's achievements as a writer are introduced through videos and exhibits. One of the highlights is the exhibition room that faithfully recreates the exterior of his home in Takaido, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, as well as his study, library, and reception room, donated by his surviving family, to the way they were when he died.
This is the Seicho Matsumoto Memorial Hall, where the have reconstructed the life and literary works of the Japanese 'Maigret', author of over 300 books, many of them describing the adventures of Inspector Imanishi. For the fans of his works this is undoubtedly an excellent museum. For non-Japanese visitors it will be a letdown as there is no English explanation except for the well made brochure. Avoid this place unless you are a fan of this man's work.
Modern space with interesting exhibits of work and life. However no signage in English, although English brochure is provided. Air temperature is only decent.
Shares about Matsumoto Seicho's life. Pretty interesting, if the timing of the film was informed in advance would be better
(Translated by Google) In Kokura, I had a hard time deciding whether to visit Matsumoto Seicho or Matsumoto Leiji. This is a memorial museum for Matsumoto Seicho, a great Showa-era literary figure and novelist. It explains Matsumoto Seicho's upbringing, touching on the historical background and various incidents. The highlight is the impressive display of what appears to be all of Matsumoto Seicho's works (this is the only place photography is allowed). Another highlight is the replica of Matsumoto Seicho's home and study. The permanent exhibition, "Mystery Theater," is fantastic, showcasing the behind-the-scenes of Seicho's works through rare old footage. A great deal is available with a ticket that covers all three locations: the Matsumoto Seicho Memorial Museum, Kokura Castle, and Kokura Castle Gardens.
