What began as a vacation planned 2 years in advance for a destination wedding became a dire situation when we found out Hurricane Melissa was approaching landfall. Unfortunately, Jamaica (God bless Her) decided to close all airports; therefore, we were all stuck there to ride out the storm. Sandals' general manager, Carol Bourke, communicated with us daily regarding the plan for sheltering in place and assured us that we were safe. While waiting for the airports to reopen and receiving several flight cancellations, Sandals treated its guests like Kings and Queens, comping our extended nights along with providing full meals and unlimited drinks of our choice. We heard so many horror stories in regards to what other resorts were doing and how they treated their guests; charging them for the extra nights and feeding them little to nothing. We couldn't believe it and were so thankful we chose to stay at Sandals. After several flight cancelations, some of our party were able to catch the charter plane that Sandals/Beaches Resorts opted to pay for in order to get their guests to the U.S.A. From that point, we were responsible for getting a flight home. I won't say the charter flight was without flaws or perfect, but I am so thankful we and the entire wedding guest list, bride and groom, made it home safe. It was our first time visiting Jamaica and staying at any Sandals Resorts. And with the stellar service we received, let's just say we are Sandals fans for life!!!!!!! Many windows without screens and malfunctioning shutters. During our 7 day stay we had “something” enter the home and turn over the trash and leave it all over the kitchen floor. We couldn’t do anything to the floors; because neither the broom nor mop were useable. Broom handle kept falling off. Mop was commercial size, with no bucket nor was it squeezable by hand. Fridge had leftovers from previous guests, we wiped it and the counters and cabinets down to decrease smell and detour the bugs. Faucets leaking, hard to turn off, chef tried to fix but…. Old food was on floor under cabinets (carrots, etc). A man’s underwear and shirt left in master - we discovered these items a few days in. The shirt beside the couch and the undies hanging beneath the “shareable” robe. During our stay the landscaper and pool guy came and did a fabulous job to the exterior. But upon our arrival their was garbage already by the front door. Our chef, Jason was amazing as was the Houskeeper, Keisha. They were the reason we continued to stay in the property. Their patience and willingness to listen and help was what we needed to calm our fears. For the price just go elsewhere. We spent a lot of $$ on supplies, transportation, and food. The view of the ocean is the best thing about this property!!!! It is one of a kind.
