We wanted to try an inexpensive Asian restaurant. To start we had the crab cheese and then finished with sesame chicken and seafood noodles with chow mein. My wife specially had the sesame chicken which was also very good. I think I liked her meal more than I did mine. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating of us. We did a long road trip and the stop at this place energized us. Price is affordable, great amount and very friendly service. I highly recommend the soup because they are sour just as we wanted. The Thai tea is really refreshing also. They also have small lucky cookies for us when we left. Bad I don’t have any bad point for this place, except for the atmosphere- i hope they can improve it to attract more customer. They worth having more visitors.

We are familiar with the 2 other more popular Vietnamese restaurants in town, but decided to try this little one which at the time of this review has only 15 reviews but all highly rated (which we thought must be skewed reviews from friends and relatives!). Driving there we almost missed the restaurant because the name was a bit different on the restaurant’s sign (Asian Bistro - Star Cuisine). It was spacious inside and we were greeted pleasantly and presented with a colorful menu that featured both Thai (e.g. pad Thai), Lao (papaya salad, thum noodle), and Vietnamese (pho, hu tieu) dishes. That was quite a variety and while ordering pho and Pad thai we were a bit worried and hoped that the foods were not “jack of all trades but master of none” as are often the case with a restaurant featuring mixed cuisines from different ethnicities. Boy we should not have to be worried! Because our pho had that distinctive authentic Vietnamese pho’s aroma and was delicious, and was served with a fresh side dish full of mung bean sprouts and herbs just like it should be. The pho’s beef flanks were meaty and the meatballs were plenty. Our Pad thai was equally flavorful and tasty in its authentic Thai’s way; and the only thing that we missed was some crunchy peanut bits that weren’t there. We were stoked to find this little restaurant gem serving authentic southeast asian fares in Amarillo out of all places. Our waitress was a little young lady and she was especially courteous and professional. We felt especially welcomed, and along with the great food experience, we will make sure to visit this family kitchen whenever we will be near Amarillo even if it means having to make a detour.
