We had an excellent experience at Rockfish in Brixham Harbour with my wife and our Labrador, who was very well looked after. The menu offered plenty of tempting choices, and we especially liked how the waitress described the specials, circling and pricing them on the menu as she explained each dish – a nice personal touch.
The food itself was excellent and beautifully prepared. While the prices felt a little on the high side (more like London prices), the quality and service made it worthwhile. Our server was outstanding – attentive, friendly, and very helpful in guiding us with our choices.
It all made for a really enjoyable evening. As an added bonus, because we were renting a local fisherman’s cottage, our first drinks were complimentary, which was a lovely surprise.
Rockfish is a great spot for excellent seafood, warm service, and a relaxed atmosphere with good views of the working harbour.

Rockfish in Brixham is an absolute winner. The staff are superb, making you feel instantly welcome—plus, it's a huge bonus that they're dog-friendly. The fish is stunningly fresh; I had the John Dory, and my girlfriend had the monkfish, both of which were cooked perfectly. And seriously, the curry sauce is the best I've ever tasted. We had a lovely meal at Rockfish - the fish was so fresh and the waiter told us about all of the fish that was caught on the day. Sardines and calamari to start and the prawn tacos for main. We sat on the outside terrace, which is coveted and that was lovely. Would recommend.

After walking around town a few times checking the local menus I decided to go here. It’s got a nice deck out the back overlooking the harbour which is nice. It’s got an extensive fish menu so if that’s your thing this place is definitely for you. I couldn’t get past prawn tacos on the menu and I’m glad I picked it too. Yes! They were bloomin’ lovely!

Lovely find whilst on a ferry trip to Brixham. This place had ample seating. The service was fantastic. The ladies who served were very accommodating whilst dealing with very fussy diners ( i.e my kids.) We opted for classic fish and chips. The kids also went for the mozzarella sticks which had the most incredible cheese pull.The batter on the fish was perfect. Loved the curry sauce too. A very cute touch were ketchup and mayonnaise in little glass jars. We did have to pay 10% service charge as there were more than 5 of us, however I didn't mind as it was well deserved. It is pricey but it is money well spent.Would definitely recommend this place!!!

This unassuming corner, chip shop, hides a really great seafood restaurant. The service is unobtrusive and there when you want something. The food was really good quality, monkfish and prawn curry is very special. Good portions in the children’s menu as well.

Searching for a good restaurant to have lunch, I spotted Simply Fish close to the harbour, and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be an excellent choice! The lady who greeted me was friendly and welcoming. The interior decor is eye-catching and modern, with a relaxing blue colour scheme and silver fish across the ceiling. There's a separate entrance for the takeaway. The banquette was comfortable, and the tables and restaurant as a whole looked very clean. The menu offered a good choice of starters and main courses, mainly fish and seafood, ranging from fish and chips to more sophisticated and expensive dishes, but there were also some burgers and vegetarian/vegan options, and a children's menu. I decided to try something different, so I chose the monkfish and prawn curry with a side dish of rice, mango chutney, and a large poppadom. The meal was well presented, with generous portions. The monkfish (the first time I'd tried it) was quite meaty, and the curry was thick and filling with coconut and lots of vegetables in it. Pleasantly aromatic, but also hot and spicy. There was a small selection of homemade desserts for afters, but I was much too full! So I just ordered a pot of tea, and it was very good. Service was both quick and attentive. One of the pricier places in Brixham to eat fish and chips. So is the extra cost worth it? Well yes and no really. The lightly battered hake was immaculate - the batter crisp, the fish chunky and flaky. My sides of curry sauce was probably the best I've ever tasted; the tartare sauce and mushy peas were both excellent. However what could have been an exceptional meal was let down by the double cooked chips - a few of which were undercooked. Double cooked chips seems an unusual feature, why not triple cook them? Shame really, as what would have been a 10/10 meal I could only score as a 7/10.
Two fish and chips meals, sides of curry sauce and mushy peas, plus two soft drinks came to just shy of £58. A discretionary service charge of 10% is added to tables of five or more, with tipping encouraged for smaller tables.

Four stars from this Yorkshire lass/lad! Being from the land of proper fish and chips, our standards are sky-high. The fish at this establishment was... fine (a touch on the pale side, if I'm honest). The chips, however, didn't quite hit the mark. Our party of 7 tried a wide variety of the unique Curious Menu, all of which we were highly impressed with the overall quality of ingredients and flavour of the dishes. 😋 Dishes included, Lobster Bisque, Lobster Bao Buns 🦞, Chicken Burrito, Beef Burrito 🌯 Both the burritos and Bao buns were delivered with a matching garnish and sauce that complemented the given dish to perfection! The Sriracha Mayonnaise on the Chicken Burrito is to absolute die for 🤤
In addition to this we also tried a range of drinks. All of the smoothies were prepared fresh and tasted as vibrant as they look 🧋🍎🍊 I personally had the BFG deluxe hot chocolate! Safe to say it was bloody bonkers! One of the best hot chocolates of my life☕️ I will be looking forward to trying the rest of the deluxe hot chocolate range!

I've avoided fish with the assumption that I don't like it. I felt that as I was staying in Brixham, it would be a missed opportunity not to try. I explained and was advised to order the catch of the day, sea bass with basil sauce.
I would definitely order again and highly recommend it. Perfect balance, not too over powering. Cooked beautifully. The basil sauce added just the right amount of flavour.

Was here yesterday evening. It was fine, if a little bit unatmospheric. However, what surprised me - and this is Brixham - is that there were no market specials on the menu. Really odd, in my opinion.
The previous two evenings I had been to two other Brixham fish restaurants, and great market specials. I come to Brixham for fresh fish.

By far the best meal we had in Brixham!
Great service, perfect food, good social distancing and tempurature checks at the door.
The quality of the food was so high, you'd expect to pay twice the price for it. ~£120 for 4 people, 3 course meal, but the quality was that of a gourmet restaurant you'd pay much more for.
Quick service and our waiter was very friendly. Vegan & vegetarian options. We had a set menu but called in advance to have a steak instead of fish (as there was no meat dish on the menu, and one of our party does not eat fish) - no problem at all.
I can't reccomend this place enough. We will definitely be visiting again when back in Brixham!

My wife and I had a lovely time at Shoals. It’s a very informal restaurant in a beautiful location, and the fish was absolutely fantastic – so fresh and full of flavour. One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten! We booked in for an early lunch (the only time available before 6pm and we were leaving that day) because we’d read fantastic reviews. It was a bonus to find out on arrival the Banjo, my dog, was also welcome! Because it was lunch not dinner we just had a main course each but my gosh, what a main course it was! I chose the scallops and monkfish in a whisky cream sauce with bacon and the whole meal was just heavenly. We had a brilliant meal at The Old Market House – the setting by the harbour is beautiful, with lovely views of the colourful hillside houses and boats bobbing on the water. We visited this restaurant whilst on holiday and chose it due to having some dog friendly tables, excellent views and good reviews.
We weren’t disappointed. The food is wonderful. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The beach location and views are amazing, particularly if you get a window table at sunset! Booking advised as this restaurant very popular.

Located next to an old WW2 bunker and shore battery on top of a cliff (if you love your history), the Guardhouse does the best fish & chips around. Sourced from the local Brixham fish market, it is noticeably fresh, delicious and well presented.
Having parked the car, we explored the WW2 sites overlooking the sea before eventually making our way to the Guardhouse for some deserved rest! The outdoor seating area is dog friendly, has lots of space and is walled off high enough to provide shelter from the coastal winds. It’s a great place to visit, cheap-ish parking (5min walk), fantastic views and best fish & chips around. For these reasons, it does get REALLY busy, and you may have to wait to be seated. The fish & chips alone are worth the wait!

The food and service was absolutely amazing!! Visited over 2 weeks ago with my dad and son and we all absolutely loved this restaurant. Staff are so friendly from the moment you walk in the door. The food was honestly un-believable- I had never really had seafood before. I opted for the mussels on the specials menu and safe to say it was delicious! The children’s menu had a good selection (not just the typical nuggets and chips like most other restaurants). My son who is auHD demolished the food on his plate and was at ease the whole time because the atmosphere was so calm and staff was amazing with him. The chef came out to greet customers at each table to make sure they was happy with the food, we never got this type of service at any other restaurant during our stay in Brixham.
We loved the whole experience so much that we came back again on our final night during our holiday and once again, blown away by the whole experience.

What a lovely family and restaurant! Me and my mum had quite a few food nightmares since arriving in brixham but this place pretty much saved the holiday.
The service is immaculate and you’re always greeted with a warm smile. They really do go the extra mile with the service and the waiter and son who works in the front of house are so sweet!
Food is proper authentic Italian and is the real deal. Me and my mum are fussy eaters too and couldn’t fault the food whatsoever. I’m fact, it was that good we came back again a couple of days later. It’s just a shame as I wish that I lived closer so I could eat here more often.
Would also recommend the carbonara in particular!
P.s (Sorry I couldn’t visit for one last time before leaving or leave a note through the door, it was too rainy to go to the berry head hotel so I didn’t get to try anything!)

What a find! We were nearby on holiday and looking for a Devon cream tea - THIS place seemed to fit the bill and oh wow! It was truly delicious - the scone was still hot from the oven! Tea was served in a teapot with cup and saucer. There were even the options to replace the tea with prosecco or a G&T! I also liked the eco-friendly use of washable flannels to dry hands.

Food extremely tasteless, management extremely rude.
Collected a takeaway from here , once we arrived home unfortunately the food was shockingly poor. We ordered lamb Rogan josh which looked Indian but wasn't, it lacked flavour and passion from whoever made this substandard dish, maybe the chef has lost the love for his work.
We also ordered chicken tikka naan wrap which also was bland and tasteless and the chicken was tough and tasted old, even my Staffordshire Bull Terrier turned his nose up and he's not fussy.
After a long discussion over the phone to the owner/manager he reluctantly offered a £15 refund from a £27 meal.
I was told to collect the refund on Tuesday as they are closed on Mondays but to be honest they should be closed every day.
I have just been back to Bombay mix for my refund, what a shame.
I tried to give the owner some constructive criticism about the poor food, he didn't care , his Passion has gone.
He said "I DONT GIVE A DAMN" that's no way to treat a customer or run a business.
Unfortunately all this man wants to do is serve substandard food and take your hard earned cash.
It seems to be all show with the open kitchen , this man cares more about the look of his shop but should put more love into his food, this man is in denial!
Get some passion or close down , don't keep taking the public's money for tasteless rubbish.

This post is in response to the 2 one star reviews under this one. I was sat on the couch in the takeaway when Daniel Stanoch came in the shop, he was rude and belligerent from the get go. After getting a refund he decided to get louder and louder to ram his point home because he felt like his opinion was the only one allowed. I witnessed this slick haired, leather jacket wearing idiot try to bully the owner into agreeing with him, and when he didn’t, he stormed out like a spoiled child.
There was no racism, I’ve personally known the owner for years and he’s the nicest guy. It’s ridiculous when people are trying to do a service and run a business that you have to deal with idiots like this.
Both the 1 star reviews are connected, they’ve reviewed the same areas and places in their history.
My meal was fantastic, I’ve never had a bad meal from here, it’s always good.

An absolute hidden gem! We stopped here for lunch last week before doing the coastal walk along to Broadsands Beach. The location is so peaceful and scenic and to top it all off, a Robin ate some crumbs from my hand. 5 star gourmet food? Not as such, but a very fair sausage-in-a-bun, and very good coffee, both cups, served with a genuine smile and polite conversation, and all at a reasonable price.
The things that stood out for me were the strikingly pretty view across the bay, framed by shrubby, wildlife-filled cliffs an either side of the shack, and the fearless robins come to demand their due. The girl serving mentioned that one Robin will actually hop onto her finger to feed from her palm. You've just got to admire Robins for their shere cheek.
Having easily found free parking on the hill above the cabin, the added bonus is the walk back around the bottom of Battery Park along the coast path, watching trawlers and crabbers going about their business, back up to the car.

Please don't go here. It's my new favorite place in Brixham and I don't want it spoiling by everyone else going there! Unfortunately I'm not in Brixham enough to justify keeping it a secret.
I am told The Manor has two personalities... We experienced the quiet, weeknight atmosphere of convivial boardgame playing, friendly conversation, enjoying an excellent pint or two. That's my sort of place to unwind and I loved it.
My companion, who spends more time in the town, was telling me of the evenings when The Manor hosts local bands, it's standing room only, and you have to push through the crowd to get to the bar.
I look forward to experiencing this second side of The Manor, but more so, many more evenings playing games, drinking and chatting on the quieter nights.
