I dated someone who attended and had started bringing me. I haven been in church my entire life, I had an amazing experience at first. Maybe because everyone was friends with the man who brought me. I thought I had found somewhere I was accepted exactly for who I am. As Jesus said, come as you are. I felt that. The person who had brought me had me get involved with the same Bible study group. I felt judged from the start but I thought, This could be my insecurities. This could be the devil. I was unfortunately wrong. The group isolated me, a group of girls I had gotten close too and opened up too, which is so hard for me to do with anyone, I was so venerable and open, had left me and all blocked me when I had left my ex. This experience was so heartbreaking for me to the point I’m today no longer sure what I believe. It’s not Gods fault that people treated me so poorly, but I didn’t and still don’t understand how people who are so proud to be a projection of him, could be so cruel and judgmental. I have never felt so alone. All of this being said, there’s a lot of detail I would prefer not to share and I’m sure is more than this post allows. I did have some people I met there that are the only reason I felt the love of Jesus and the love of a genuine person. And I’m grateful for that: the overall view I left with, was I was too much, I wasn’t what fit the picture, of what vision wants to portray. I’ll be forever grateful to the few who gifted me the connection, and showered me the true love of God. That being said, I will never get the church hurt back I experienced. And I do feel that there was a lot of click and drama that should never be what going to church is about. I hope that anyone who attends finds everything a church is supposed to be for someone, I just didn’t have that experience.
