Nestled in the heart of Nîmes, Le Napoléon is a charming brasserie that whisks you away to the grandeur of the 19th century. With its stunning Second Empire architecture, adorned with intricate mouldings and gilded accents, this historic café has been a beloved gathering spot since 1813. Whether you're stopping by for a delightful coffee and cake or indulging in their plat du jour, every visit feels like stepping back in time.
the waiter is nice, the food is delicious, there is no chair for children
Elina C — Google review
Really nice old cafe with an impressive ceiling, bar and seating arrangement. It is usually crowded, especially during the winter and in the afternoons. The food is not that great. I can only recommend the burger which I enjoyed in one of my visits. Service is really relaxed. Maybe more than what you would expect in a historic cafe. Also, prefer to sit outside or if you go inside choose the tables in the bar area if they are available. The tables in the second room are not that great, the set-up is darker and you get the noise from the kitchen and the people visiting the toilets all the time. I prefer going there for a quick coffee or a hot chocolate with the kids, rather than for lunch or dinner. For that i would give it 5 stars, but the lunch/dinner experience is not that great.
Iason S — Google review
Good place for lunch. Burgers, steak and frites were excellent.
Huy H — Google review
We enjoyed a soirèe with friends last week, the drinks were very nice, but the snacks could be better, nevertheless there are a bunch of things to choose if you like snacks or salted things. The place is beautiful
Ignacio G — Google review
Beautiful place with relaxing, great atmosphere for a drink with friends or just to sit there and read a book whilst enjoying a nice drink and some delicious pie perhaps. My wife and I went here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch but unfortunately in the weekends the chef doesn’t work so there’s only option for pie or cookies. And drinks, of course. The only person working at the time was a young guy who works here parttime as a student. Even though he was running all over the place he was a good host and always cheerful. This place is lucky to have him (unfortunately I forgot to ask him his name).
Remco P — Google review
Very beautiful the food was good but the service was not so good she couldn’t speak English and talked like nothing interested her. Very good chocolate crossaint.
Martin B — Google review
Really unique/pretty setting to stop for a drink or small bite.
J P — Google review
The place is visually really nice. The lack of interest in serving me was appaling. The moment I stepped in the place I got the impression they didn't want me there. Initially ordered a coffee and then I was asked to move to a neighbouring table for a bigger group, which I didn't mind at all, the way they went about it though was very was poor. I mentioned I didn't speak French and then the servers arms went up in the air as if he was really put out and continued to talk about me to the new occupants of the table I was sat at. Then came to the bill which I requested. 15 mins later, the bill still hadn't arrived, so I asked again and was just told to go to the bar area to pay. Again I don't mind that but don't make me wait 15 mins, they were taking payment for other tables while they were seated. Then they overcharged me charging for the order of the table I was sat at initially. Only after payment went through did I realise (no bill was produced and I paid by card) this was raised and then rectified by paying me back in cash.

Gorgeous little cafe with fantastic bread, pastries and breakfast. We ate here twice during our trip to Nîmes. The staff are really friendly and patient with our limited French.

Been there 2-3 times for coffee and dessert. The location is perfect and the interior is impressive. We visited the cafe both in the summer and the winter. Our last visit was on a Saturday afternoon. The cafe was packed but we were lucky to find a really nice window table. Waiters don't take orders, so customers need to queue in the interior to order and pay. This creates a continuous flow of people in and out of the cafe which is a bit noisy and messy sometimes. The staff was kind and service was quick. I forgot our umbrella so I called a couple of days later when I realised it. The lady on the phone was really kind and willing to help. Coffee and desserts were really good, but on the expensive side. Overall it's worth it, especially during the sunny days.

Great lunch in a relaxed setting. Perfect fish and chips and generous salad. Service good. Quiche divine. Love the parasols that spray vapour to cool you down.
Colin T — Google review
Nice breakfast! For people who don’t speak French like us,it is very difficult to order the meal to the waiter who only speak French! Thanks to the kind help of people sitting next table so that we can enjoy the food on that morning!

Stopped here for a late breakfast ( very few places were open) and we very much enjoyed our food. Beautiful interior and wonderful outdoor patio
Nicole T — Google review
We ordered 2 Burgers and a Salad. The Salad was okay but we had to wait for nearly 90minutes. My Burger was rare and the meat was not edible. It looked like cooked for 5 seconds from each side and than served..
Nico G — Google review
Great place for brunch - had a delicious iced café au Lait with coconut milk and the eggs Benedict. The price was very reasonable. They made my bacon crispy just as I asked, which is not something a lot of places are willing to accommodate, so I was extremely grateful. All the staff we interacted with were lovely and kind. The negative reviews I saw seemed to come from entitled or impatient customers. We saw several ourselves who didn't seem to notice the signs on all the tables stating you need to order inside. The interior is beautiful anyways so it's a great opportunity to look at the original architecture. If we have time I'll definitely be back for another iced café! Thank you so much!
B K — Google review
Lunch was…fine, but our meal was not homemade (see the picture of the jar of polenta, veggies, and pesto), which was disappointing. Salad was mostly undressed. Quiche was okay, but again, nothing special. If I had known, I would have chosen somewhere else to eat.

Ideally situated in the pedestrian center of Nîmes. We went on a very hot June day and the sitting area outside is very well shaded with big square umbrellas and there are misters so the heat was bearable. Nice choice of drinks and ice cream and the service was quick.
Veronique S — Google review
In the whole of Provance, the washrooms are characterized by unclassifiable undeclared pretentiousness. The toilet seat is also missing here, it's a disgusting and dirty toilet. The place is expensive and the service is slow.
Előd V — Google review
Good waiters. Unlike so many in the hospitality industry who just look but see nothing, that is certainly not the case here Very good. The waiters are also a bit older, so not students who generally add little besides being cheap. We had the Tarte Salée of leek and fish with salad for €8.50. Good portion, good quality. The bread however could serve as a huge crouton, a day old. Didn't see any of the disturbances read here. My experience here was fine
Andre — Google review
Slightly unfriendly service, but at least <5mins waiting time for a coffee. The espresso is a 5/10. The small place is nice to sit. I had to pay my coffee twice although showing the waiter the booking voucher in my bank-app; second time with cash.
Jo L — Google review
Super busy little terrace for a drink stop in the cool shade to catch a break from the sun! Right under the scenic clock tower. The umbrellas periodically spray a mist over the tables which is lovely and cooling.
Lucy C — Google review
We are two ice creams in the outside seating area. Table service. The ice creams were okay if a little pricey. The waitress was gruff. We paid up and went inside to use the toilet. Here we were confronted with a different waiter who aggressively refused our request, saying: "The toilets are not for you. They are only for customers." We explained that we had eaten at an outside table. He did not believe us, twice, and got more aggressive. After a longish palaver the gruff waitress came in and identified us as customers. Grudgingly and without an apology we were allowed to use the facilities.

We were just walking around during free time on our tour and randomly stopped here for an espresso (not a big coffee drinker, but it is so good in Europe. Couldn't resist the crepes and we weren't disappointed. Nice relaxed atmosphere. If you happen to be in the area, give this place a try. You know, if you find yourself wandering around Nimes.
Kevin W — Google review
This low rating isn’t about the food (which was fine), but about the service. It was really frustrating that we were constantly ignored. It took us 15 minutes just to wait to order. It took another 15 minutes minimum just to get our crepes. He completely forgot about our food btw and I had to remind him about what we ordered. Then I had to ask three times to be able to pay and the server kept saying he’ll come but he never did - in the end, after another 20 minutes of waiting around for him, I thankfully found cash in my bag that I used to pay so I didn’t have to wait anymore to pay with my card. Extremely disappointed.

Not so hygienic, it’s dirty and the coffe is horrible, the crêpe was good but not the right amount of Nutella. The service was bad and really slow..

Service was very slow and dismal from what I witnessed. Wait staff was clearly selective on who they attended to. We left immediately after we saw some rather discriminatory behavior from the wait staff. Washroom had no toilet seat and was not clean.

Bonjour Nimes City!! Great taste cup of Joe & classic toasted baguette with butter and jam + freshly squeezed orange juice...perfect breakfast!! Great place to stop by on ou r fist day of visit in the city. Excellent friendly customer service.

BE CAREFUL! The service lady decided to get some cash out of us and lied that her card machine doesn’t work due to electricity issue. After the breakfast I had to run around to look for ATM to get some cash and pay my bill. After we told her that bank will charge us a 6 euro fee and won’t do it, her card machine miraculously started to work. Very mediocre food and dishonest business!

Kinda pricey but tasted really good and you get to watch the arena.

Small lunch menu (lots of sweets) but the food was excellent! Best savory crêpe lunch I had in France.

The bakery Ange is great for fresh bread that's also nice and crispy on the outside. You can either buy sandwiches here or enjoy a classic loaf of bread.

(Translated by Google) As soon as I come in, they ask me what I want before I even have time to look at what is there. I ask if the salmon poké is really fresh and not smoked. They confirm to me that it is fresh salmon (which is not the case when I open it to eat it, it is smoked). Not even saying goodbye. I do not recommend this “bakery” Obviously the staff was not in a rush there were only 3 people with me so really poor service.

(Translated by Google) What you sell doesn't match what we see in the window. The croissants look beautiful in the window and when they are given to us they are small, warm and flat. As for the chicken sandwich, the salad isn't fresh from the day. It has changed a lot. I know we have to save money since you opened a new store. But still. Sorry, I'm going to change ice cream shops. Ça a bien changé. Je sais bien qu'il faut faire les économies vu que vous avez fait un nouveau magasin. Mais quand même. Désolé je vais changer de crèmerie. ( Boulangerie)
