Tate St Ives is a stunning modern gallery that offers breathtaking sea views and features a diverse collection of local and international artworks. The iconic white building, located near Porthmeor Beach, provides an immersive experience with its ongoing and changing displays that showcase historic paintings, sculptures, ceramics, film, media, and photography. This must-see attraction houses seminal works by artists connected to St Ives as well as pieces from international artists.
Lovely display of various creative arts. The staff were exceptionally kind and friendly. Great location. Enjoy a stunning view of the beach from inside the building. Even the staircase is a genius display of art and architecture. Clean atmosphere and great display of artwork by some of the best artists.
Faye F — Google review
visited Tate St Ives and it felt like art meeting the ocean. The building itself is bright and open, almost sculpted by the sea breeze. I loved how the light poured in, making every piece feel alive. The works of Hepworth and Nicholson connected beautifully with the town’s spirit. The changing exhibitions kept it fresh and surprising. And stepping outside—those beach views were a masterpiece on their own.
AJay S — Google review
Wide selection of thought-provoking modern art, including a Kandinsky and large-scale installations. Great cafe on top, with super views of St Ives.
Gary B — Google review
don’t even know where to begin… the outside facade and the architecture in this building is amazing! sees one of the most wonderful beaches from the top and the waves are so peaceful. yet i had low expectations of its curation based on reviews here. i visited with my 6 yo daughter and i could not even do justice in close to three hours. the pieces are so good, galleries are so distinct, installations and interactives are balanced with laintings, and the works are amazing. staff was super helpful. shop selection especially books were lovely. i visited london tate many times for free but this experience was worth more than the 14£ ticket price. cafe was crowded as it can be visited for free but the best view is from the galleries.
Ezgi M — Google review
a lovely experience! most of the reviews i read said they were disappointed and that it wasnt worth the visit however the collection of art is beautiful though perhaps not accessible to those not into modern art. even still, i think the environment and the building itself its worth the visit - though i did get slightly lost and the gallery is smaller than i expected. even saying that, i could spend hours in here staring at the pieces. the cafe and shop are lovely too. staff are kind and welcoming. bought tickets online as part of the 16-25 tate collective for £5 which is well worth it!! maybe not worth anymore if youre not into modern art though.
Thea — Google review
The building itself is a beautiful round landmark overlooking Portmeor Beach. We stopped by for a short break and enjoyed a cream tea at the café on the 4th floor. The view was amazing, the cream tea was delicious, and the staff were super friendly
Mahsa K — Google review
Setting is amazing right by the sea, with a good cafe at the top selling nice, good value food. The main collection is small but interesting. I loved the exhibition.
Sarah C — Google review
Lovely gallery the big round building is beautiful and as you go in there are some sheltered outdoor seating area with cushions which is a nice spot to relax. Tickets can be purchased as you go in, and the galleries are on the third floor, there is a lift. On the fourth floor there is a gift shop and a cafe. We sat on the balcony. Amazing views of the sea.

Nestled in the picturesque town of St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden offers a captivating glimpse into the life and artistry of one of Britain's most celebrated sculptors. Preserved as it was in 1975, this enchanting space showcases an array of Hepworth's sculptures, drawings, photographs, and documents within her former home and studio. Managed by Tate St Ives, visitors can wander through her garden where many significant pieces remain in their original locations amidst lush subtropical plants.
I knew little of this sculptor when I visited and was ultimately transported by this little place. I read all about the lady in the room downstairs, which was very interesting. Having gone up to her work, I tried to follow the meanings in the book of her work and was totally lost. I put down the guide and just wandered into her garden on a sunny day. I took in all those fabulous sculptures once in the garden and loved them. I only took these 4 photos, I recommend just sitting and enjoying the garden. I could have spent hours in this amazing place. A great place to write.
Karen C — Google review
If you like Barbra Hepworth this is such a special museum. There's a lot of information about her life and you can see her studio where she worked. The garden is my favourite spot. It's one a beautifully peaceful place where you can walk or sit and look at her sculptures and the gardens that surround them. You can imagine how carefully she placed the sculptures because each of them seems to be framed by the others in some way. A visit to St Ives is not complete without a pilgrimage to this place, in my opinion.
Kat M — Google review
What beautiful place! Well kept gardens provide the backdrop for Barbara Hepworth’s perfect sculptures & artwork. We visited on a Sunday morning which was pretty quiet & felt miles away from the crowds of the town. Great place for some inspiration!
Louise G — Google review
absolutely beautiful. so well curated. super small location with it being Hepworth's house but its incredibly welcoming and inspiring. staff are all wonderfully friendly. there was a school trip happening on my visit which slightly hindered my experience but once they left it was beautifully tranquil. could spend all day there. joined tate collective for 16-25 year olds and only paid £5 for a ticket but itd be worth any price. already want to return
Thea — Google review
The museum's atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. Whether you're a seasoned museum -goer or just looking for an inspiring way to spend your afternoon, Barbara Hepworth Museum is a truly enriching experience that you won't want to miss.
Bartyuk M — Google review
I’m not a great fan of Hepworth’s work, but when in St Ives… it’s expensive for what, in essence is a ten minute walk around a garden. I’ve been told since, that the ticket also allows entry to the Tate, which if true, provides better value. However, there were no signs advertising this, and no talk of it at either reception desk, so perhaps the deal has been discontinued. For lovers of Barbara Hepworth it’s a must-see, of course, but I found very little to love in her sculptures.
Martyn D — Google review
The sculptor's home and garden provides a delightful setting for her sculptures. Her workshop shows the effort required to deliver such complex pieces of art
Bob D — Google review
While it maybe a small museum it is well worth a visit. The sculpture garden is full of her amazing sculptures- well worth taking the time to walk around and view the sculptures from different angles

Beach
Porthmeor Beach, located near the iconic Tate St Ives building, is a picturesque sandy beach that attracts surfers and swimmers. It boasts seasonal lifeguards and dog-friendly access with some restrictions. The beach offers convenient facilities such as a cafe, toilets, and a surf school. Its easy accessibility includes a slipway on the east side. Porthmeor's golden sands and impressive waves make it one of the top surfing beaches in West Cornwall.
Can beach for body boarding or surfing as a novice. Coast guard present so safe as a beach can be. Lots of space. Lots of amenities but parking is very challenging so use car parks on the edge of town such as the one off Park Avenue rather than the main car and coach park which is an even further trek.
Owen — Google review
It is a stunning spot, perfect for anyone who loves both beautiful scenery and beach activities. The golden sand is soft and clean, and the views across the water are breathtaking. The beach is popular with surfers, and even if you’re not catching waves, it’s a great place to watch them in action. The location is lively but still has a laid-back vibe, with plenty of space to relax or take a stroll along the shore. A must-visit if you’re in St. Ives!
Highway V — Google review
Beautiful and wide beach Now at this time of the year it's not busy as it's cold. But people are still driving into the water. Nice white sands and stunning views from the top where you actually need to park your car.
Florin S — Google review
Fantastic spot for beach lovers. The view is amazing, and there are some great cafes nearby. Perfect for a seaside stroll.
Jaya G — Google review
Probably the best family beach in Cornwall. Great for children.
Mat H — Google review
Love this beach. It’s not so busy as to be crowded and not full of dogs crapping everywhere (no dogs allowed during peak months). The beach bar is amazing. Open from early until 8pm, cheapest bar in st Ives (£16 gets beer, white and a coke). And the kids chicken nuggets are literally to die for. Drinks, watching the sun go down, nothing better.
Etienne P — Google review
Beautiful evening overlooking the beach. Nice walk along the coastal path.
Manjit — Google review
Crystal clear waters and reliable waves make this a great surfing spot right in St Ives town. There's showers, toilets, cafe, shop, surf school and surf hire, all directly on the beach. Dogs are only allowed on the beach outside of summer time.

Seal Island, located just 3.5 miles west of St Ives, is a haven for a colony of grey seals and offers daily boat trips from the harbor. The excursion provides stunning views of Porthmeor Beach, The Island, and the rugged Cornish coast. Visitors praise the professional and knowledgeable staff who offer insights into the area's wildlife.
All of the staff were super helpful and friendly. We took our toddler on his first boat trip, they helped each of us with our life jackets and once we got to the boat they all offered to help get our son on and off. We had a lovely tour of the lighthouse where there were lots of seals. 10/10 highly recommended
Kelsey P — Google review
Really magical! We were lucky to see both seals and dolphins! Great skipper who told us lots about the seals at the island too. We went at low tide and lots of them laying out on the rocks. Highly recommend this company. Nice boat (‘little mermaid’) and good health and safety- life jackets properly fitted at the harbour etc. Fab day out for all the family- my kids are still buzzing about it.
Katie K — Google review
Great trip! Skipper Hugo was brilliant, really knows his stuff. Had a lovely time here. 1 hour trip to Seal Island, there were loads of seals chilling on the rocks. Couldn’t see them well on photos as they were well camouflaged but you can easily see them from the boat. £25 per person which isn’t bad at all. Thanks Hugo
IT — Google review
We had a fantastic time on our sunset journey. We had booked online for the later cruise, but given we had turned up 45 minutes early, we were put on the earlier one, as the sunset was earlier and it died everyone to go straightaway. We went out to Godrevy lighthouse and saw seals in the water, a barrel jellyfish and a sun fish. Iain, our skipper, also told us a little about the history of the island and why the lighthouse is there. The views and the sunset were incredible. Would definitely recommend.
Kathryn S — Google review
Fantastic experience today. Hugo was really friendly and informative. We saw lots of seals then he found out where others had seen a pod of dolphins and he took us over. The dolphins came up close to the boat leaving our children thrilled
Alison H — Google review
We both really enjoyed our trip out to Seal Island with Callum & Connor. They both are very knowledge and clearly knew what they're doing. Thanks guys. Also a special shout out to John and his expert help getting in to the life jackets! Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Toby H — Google review
We booked the sunset trip to seal island. They rang us to say waters were getting too choppy for the boat, but offered a RIB ride instead. Absolutely delighted - it was a thrilling experience, we saw many seals and even a porpoise. Skipper was good fun and it was a highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend
Stu J — Google review
Absolutely loved the Seal Island boat trip! Amazing views, and we saw few seals. The staff were friendly, the boat was comfortable. Highly recommend!

St Ives Harbour is a charming and historic fishing port in Cornwall, UK. The harbor bustles with activity as fishing boats come and go, creating a picturesque scene for tourists to enjoy. Visitors can explore the sandy beach that stretches along the harbor, lined with small stores and fish 'n' chip spots. During low tide, colorful beached fishing boats create a vibrant display along the shore.
Stunning location, we did the park and ride (on train) from St Erth. Hassle free and beautiful views of Hayle beach and Carbis Bay. It’s a short walk into town, you can stay low or else you can climb up a hill and drop into town. There are lots of shops and places to eat, both street food and restaurants. Book ahead though because it’s busy. We took the Blue Thunder boat tour and saw some seals (would highly recommend)
Jonathan D — Google review
Well it’s a very quaint harbour . St Ives is a very busy place even out of season . If you want to park , get here early. It is a very photogenic place and has very aggressive seagulls . The harbour front is awash with pubs and coffee shops and the town is full of nice little artisan shops . Including Joe Downs , who makes the most amazing things out of glass . Her copper fish are my personal favourite. Enjoy your stay , be patient with the townsfolk who have to have deliveries to bring the food, drink and all the other things you will buy.
Jon R — Google review
I recently visited St Ives and it honestly felt like stepping into another world. On a sunny day, it’s like being transported to a foreign country – the sparkling turquoise sea, golden sands, and stunning scenery are simply breathtaking. The town itself has such a charming, welcoming atmosphere, with its winding streets, independent shops, and plenty of spots to sit and take it all in. Whether you’re strolling along the harbour, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a drink with a view, everything about St Ives feels amazing. It’s one of those places that leaves you in awe and makes you want to return again and again.
Jason O — Google review
Absolutely beautiful spot for a little rest and a bite to eat, parking is none existent so I wouldn’t even attempt driving down in to the town. I’d recommend parking up by the leisure centre and taking the 10 minute walk down the hill. Parking is £7 for 4hrs or £11 for the day.
Lee M — Google review
Best beaches anywhere! Lots of interesting shops and small art galleries to visit. Not a place to drive around as roads very narrow so walking is essential and this can be steep at times but that does mean great views.
Sandra A — Google review
A truly pleasant, albeit often overcrowded place to be. Plenty of shops and restaurants with fantastic views out over the harbour. Seals can also sometimes be spotted within the harbour, although that sadly wasn't the case when I visited.
Luke B — Google review

The Saint Ives Museum is a local history museum in the centre of town that contains a varied collection relating to the town's past. It is run by friendly volunteers and open Easter to end of October.
Great little private museum full of local artefacts, especially local items, to St Ives. Also, various videos are running about the local history and pottery. Plan a visit. it's not just for the wet days when out. Recommended better value than the Tate Modern.
Whatsinaname W — Google review
Excellent museum with a broad & diverse history of St Ives. For a small entrance fee this is great value. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Steven G — Google review
Such a wonderful museum all about St Ives. A great place to spend a few hours especially on a rainy day. Really enjoyed it and the staff are lovely.
Lucy — Google review
Very interesting place showing a lot of local history. Only £5 for adults to go in. The museum was originally the seaman's mission, so the building itself is great to look around. Disabled access via a stair lift, so not suitable for someone who is unable to transfer. The ladies were very knowledgeable and helpful. Great on a day like today we're the weather is a little wild.
Alice — Google review
A gem! So many interesting collections and we loved learning about the cultural history of St Ives as well as about the industries there. Great little cats activity for younger kids too. Thanks to Eddie and the other volunteer guide (sorry his name escapes me) for making the visit so warm and welcoming. A must visit whatever the weather!
Katie K — Google review
Lovely museum slightly off the beaten track. Decent admission price of £5. Children free. Slight problem for one of our party were the stairs to enter, leave and visit one of the floors of exhibitions. Lots to see. New exhibitions from our last visit a couple of years ago. Good couple of hours spent learning about St Ives history. Recommend.
Sonia B — Google review
Nicely presented and interesting selection of memorabilia, from all areas of the history of St Ives. Staff were lovely and encouraged the children to do little activities that they had set up for the holidays. £5 Entry for adults and children are free.
S E — Google review
This was my first time visiting the St. Ives Museum and I really enjoyed it, down stairs is exhibitions of Farming, Mining, Fishing and processing of fish, with some very informative videos. Upstairs is more local history items showing life in Cornwall and its strong ties to the Sea. They had a gest exhibition of local artists that was a real bonus, but they regularly have such gest exhibitions. We didn't have to queue to get in and admittance was a very reasonable £5. The entrance is up a flight of stairs but for those who are disabled or can't manage stairs there is a ground floor entrance that leads to a chairlift, so all good. Really nice museum that if the weather was not so good for us adults you can easily kill half a day just by looking, reading and watching everything.

St Nicholas Chapel, located on Pendinas Island between the harbor and Porthmeor beach in St Ives, is a historic site with original stone carvings and modern figures adorning its piers. The chapel offers far-reaching views of St Ives Bay and the town. Once used as a lookout for smugglers, it fell into neglect but was restored in 1911 due to public outcry. This one-room granite structure is also a haven for bird-watching enthusiasts.
Nice place. Scenic views…Not too far from town. Nearly 20 minutes walk from St.Ives train station.
JISON J — Google review
It’s perched on top of a hill overlooking the town and the ocean, the chapel offers stunning panoramic views in every direction. The peaceful atmosphere of the chapel itself adds to the charm, and it feels like a quiet retreat from the more bustling areas below. The walk up is definitely worth it, especially if you enjoy scenic views of both the sea and the surrounding landscape.
Highway V — Google review
I come to St Ives usually at least twice a year and yet never seem to walk up to this little church. It’s a little bit of a steep trek but not too bad, certainly well worth it for the views but sadly not wheelchair friendly as it’s steep uneven grass on the way up. The church was closed the day we visited (Friday) so bare that in mind.
Gareth T — Google review
St Ives is home to some of the most beautiful beaches. The walk to St Nicholas Chapel from Porthmeor Beach takes just 5-10 minutes, while Porthminster Beach kicks off a stunning stretch of golden sands that extends all the way to Godrevy Lighthouse. The views are absolutely breathtaking, especially from the chapel. So next time you're in Cornwall, be sure to visit this amazing spot!

Lovely walk to the headland and up to the little church. Great views in all directions including beaches and town. Church itself has an interesting history after being demolished then rebuilt by the army. The building is open limited hours depending on weather.

It features a cafe and rentable 2-story huts with deck chairs for visitors to enjoy. The beach is popular for activities like feet-paddling, sand-castle building, and relaxing under the sun. Families particularly love this spot due to its golden sands and very sheltered location.
Loved this beach. Many benches to sit on at the top with lovely view of the beach, and plenty food and gifts shops around. The waters are clear and clean and the sands are soft on your feet.

Lovely little cove beach area, with a big cafe serving coffee, cocktails and food. Although dogs aren’t allowed on the beach between 10-6 you can sit and have a drink and watch your kids if they are older and able to play on the beach without you

There are some really nice views around here. I found it impossible to get far being disabled as there are steps everywhere and the roads are really narrow so not great when competing with cars. That aside though it has a nice feel and the views are worth the effort.

It was very windy when I visited Porthgwidden Beach, but it’s still an incredibly beautiful spot. The water was a vibrant blue, and the sand was clean and soft, making it a perfect place to relax despite the breeze. St Ives has some of the most beautiful beaches, each with its own unique vibe. Porthmeor Beach is a hit with surfers, while Porthminster Beach kicks off a gorgeous stretch of golden sands that runs all the way to Godrevy Lighthouse. The views are amazing, especially if you take a walk up to St Nicholas Chapel. So next time you're in Cornwall, make sure to check out this incredible spot!

Awesome beach, clean sandy beach, blue water, sunny day...what else you would need for a perfect beach day. Be ready to do some hiking. This beach is accessible from St. Ives station, a 15-20 min walk. Absolutely beautiful. You can stay in Carbis bay and reach to St.Ives by train in just 1-2£ ticket within 10 min, and 20 min by walk. Best time is summer, so you get a sunny daylight. I visited in the end of august, where two days were sunny and 1 day was extremely windy and cloudy. So be prepared with suitable clothing. Now about food, You shouldn't miss the Cornish pasty which gives you cheapest and savory option. Also on the way, you can enjoy St.Ives' beautiful market and have a drink with beautiful sea view.

Porthgwidden Beach is an absolute gem tucked away in St Ives, and it quickly became one of my favorite spots during my visit to Cornwall. This small, sheltered beach offers a perfect retreat from the busier, more crowded beaches in the area, making it ideal for those looking for a peaceful day by the sea. The beach itself is stunning, with soft golden sand and clear, calm waters that are perfect for swimming or just wading in to cool off. The size of the beach adds to its charm—it's intimate without feeling cramped, and the surrounding cliffs provide a sense of seclusion that’s hard to find elsewhere. The views out to sea are breathtaking, especially during sunset when the sky lights up with vibrant colors. One of the things I loved most about Porthgwidden Beach was how family-friendly it is. The gentle waves make it a safe spot for children to play, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and relax. Despite its smaller size, it never felt overcrowded, even during peak season. The beach also has a few handy amenities, including clean public restrooms and a lovely little café right on the beachfront, which serves delicious snacks, ice creams, and hot drinks. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee and enjoy the views. Another highlight is how clean and well-maintained the beach is, with clear efforts made to preserve its natural beauty. The community feel is strong here, and it’s clear that locals and visitors alike take pride in keeping the area pristine. Overall, Porthgwidden Beach is a must-visit for anyone in the St Ives area. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to unwind, a safe spot for children to play, or simply want to soak up the natural beauty of Cornwall, this beach has it all. I can’t wait to return on my next trip to Cornwall!

Very lovely beach although it gets quite busy in the afternoon with car parking so I recommend coming early and spending the whole day down there

We had an unforgettable experience at this stunning beach. We parked at The Island car park and made the short walk down to Porthgwidden beach, which was practically abandoned on a sunny but windy Tuesday morning. We'd toyed with the idea of booking a wildlife boat tour out to seal island, but had decided not to. To our surprise, within 10 seconds of arriving on the beach, we had a seal playing in the waves just feet away from us! The beach really is a hidden gem. It never became crowded, even when people arrived to enjoy a dog walk or to launch their foil surfboards. A fantastic place to sink into soft, golden-white sand and watch the waves crash against the rocks on a windy day - the perfect peaceful cove before heading into the tourist haven of St Ives!

Small beach with calm crystal clear waters and enclosed by a few big rocks. Parking nearby with amenities and toilets also close. Good if you have children or want to go for a quick dip. We could see a few crabs chilling in shallow waters it was so clear but water was quite cold.

The Leach Pottery in St Ives is a rustic arts facility that houses pottery exhibits, a studio offering classes, and brick kilns. Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, it is known as the most influential pottery studio globally. The site also features a museum dedicated to Bernard Leach, who is considered the 'Father of British Studio Pottery.' Additionally, the facility offers workshops for individuals interested in learning the art of pottery from skilled professionals.
Well, we seemed to end up visiting a load of galleries and workshops on our visit to Cornwall this year and the Leach Pottery came out as our favourite. The staff were helpful and friendly and the museum is modern and attractively laid out. There was a range of modern and original Bernard Leach pieces on display and interesting easy to access information displays and videos. Highlight was getting involved in pottery decoration. It seemed to be a holiday special event but was well organised and kept everyone entertained. Hopefully the pieces survive firing and they will be sent to us 🤞

Unfortunately a rather underwhelming experience. Definitely not worth the 20 minute treck uphill or even the discounted ticket at £6. The founder's passion for pottery and business tenacity is certainly to be admired, but the studio is small and lacklustre. No more than 30 minutes to see this place. There is some interesting history with a Japanese potter from Mashiko who resided in St Ives for a while and thus the towns were twinned, hence the sign pointing to Mashiko. Speaking for myself, save the works of one or two artists, I didn't find the pottery here terribly aesthetically pleasing. About 1/3 of the museum's groundspace is dedicated to their shop, showcasing items at prices that reflect their handmade status. That is to say prepare yourself and your wallet well if you're thinking of coming here to pick up some handmade pottery. There are also many artists selling gorgeous pottery at more attainable prices down by the harbour, so I would advise to do your research before splurging.

The Leach Pottery is an essential visit for anyone with an interest in ceramics. The facilities are excellent and the history of this place is outstanding. If you're in St Ives then a visit should be a priority. Recommended.

5 stars for Bernard- the vision and anything pottery. Not sure it would be worth the £8 entrance fee if you only had a vague or half interest, especially as I suspect they own the building and sell their own pottery- should maybe rely on income from the shop and just get more footfall/interest through the door by being free? I love pottery so happy to pay the price to stand in the footsteps of a great potter.
Andrew M — Google review
Went on a weekday, was very quite which was nice as we didn't feel rushed, though because it is still currently a working studio you are looking around while people are working. It did feel like we was intruding so felt like we couldn't actually enjoy the museum and due to them working rather loudly it was hard to listen to the video. Even though there was lots of beautiful pieces, the video was informative and there was original part of Leach's studio there, you wouldn't spend more then 30 minutes here and not sure I would say coming today and our experience it was worth £8 each. I would recommend going if you have a spare hour but I wouldn't rush to come see it unless your a massive pottery fan.
Hannah B — Google review
A lovely insight into the history of Bernard Leach and his studio, the tour is a bit pricey for what it is, but it was empty when we went and we had the time to watch the documentary narrated by Leach himself and explore the pottery. The Shop is curated beautifully with lots of pieces from the potters themselves. The lady at the shop was very chatty and friendly. The walk up the steep hill from St. Ives central is well worth it
B L — Google review
This was a complete rip off. Basically charging £8 per person to see a shop. You couldn't see the workshop apart from looking through a closed door window. There was very little to look at...3 empty kilns and some cabinets with pottery displays.....no clay area as mentioned on website....nothing in the factory section...just some empty wooden shelves.....staff didnt acknowledge visitors...one member of staff walking around and packing clay away...nothing going on. We were in and out within 10-12 mins. Boring.
Debbie S — Google review
Visited because of my fascination with the story behind the potters and the history of the Leach pottery. The history was ably described by the narrator and potter David Griffin. It is a difficult balancing act between the historic interest and the deceased potters who created the pottery and supporting the pottery and the potters involved in its continued development. There is some fabulous pottery for sale made by the current potters and other exhibitions of the pottery from past years. It is a pity that as the pottery fell into decline at various stages of its evolution, it sold off by necessity its Crown Jewels to ensure its survival but survive it did. Pieces by BL, JL, Shoji and Bill Marshall were among my favourites. I also loved the BL tiles which visitors walk over to enter the pottery itself. They are dotted around the pottery as well. Of particular interest was the struggles the pottery went through, from sourcing clay from St Just to firing the kiln and the influence that DL had on the business and the practical aspects of running a pottery.

Accessible by descending steps opposite St Ives Museum, this small sandy oasis is perfect for splashing, swimming, and games of fetch with your furry friends.
Amazing little beach to visit. Provides great views of St Ives bay. The tide hardly tends to stay above sea level most of the day allowing for visits at most times. The beach is always in great condition and is never littered.

Discover the enchanting town of St Ives, Cornwall, through the captivating 'Shanty Baba's Lantern Ghost Storywalk.' Led by storyteller Shanty Baba, this 75-minute guided tour unveils the historical and mysterious side of St Ives. Departing from Westcotts Quay, near the RNLI Lifeboat House, you'll be immersed in tales of smugglers, ghosts, and intriguing local legends.
Ahoy, fellow ghost enthusiasts and fearless sailors of the supernatural seas! If you're in the mood for some spirited adventure and phantom fun, look no further than the "Shanty Baba" Ghost Tour in St. Ives. Prepare to embark on a spectral journey filled with eerie tales, spine-tingling excitement, and maybe, just maybe, a hint of the afterlife! Upon arriving at the meeting point, we were greeted by Captain Shanty Baba, a ghostly pirate guide with a flair for storytelling that could raise the dead! He took us through the cobblestone streets, once home to notorious pirates and mischievous spectres. Now, while we did hope for a few more firsthand accounts of actual ghosts, I can't deny that the tales of haunted taverns, spooky lighthouses, and a few too many accounts of dead children to be entirely appropriate or normal did set the perfect eerie atmosphere. Just when we began to wonder if we'd encounter any actual phantoms, the unexpected happened – the tour took an electrifying turn! A real ghost (yes, you read that right) made a cameo appearance, and luckily, I managed to get a photo. It happened in the middle of the graveyard portion of the tour - right on cue. Captain Salty Bones handled the ghostly encounter like a seasoned sailor, and I must commend him for keeping his cool amidst the supernatural shenanigans. In conclusion, the "Shanty Baba" Ghost Tour is an entertaining and spooky adventure worth experiencing. With Captain Salty Bones at the helm and a genuine ghostly surprise, it's a hauntingly hilarious way to spend an evening in St. Ives. Whether you're a sceptic or a die-hard believer, this tour will surely leave you with a tale to tell – and maybe even a spectral dance partner! So, hoist your ghost detector high and set sail with Shanty Baba – where real ghosts party! 👻🎉

Cannot recommend enough. Shanty is a consummate storyteller. The stories are just the right amount of chilling & scary but Shanty's faultless delivery elevates it to street theatre. Compelling & brilliant. Do not miss it when in St Ives.

I went on Shanty's folklore walk in the summer and absolutely loved it! He was really knowledgeable, a very engaging story teller and it was lovely to do something different after visiting St Ives for the last 20 years! I was keen to explore a few of the places mentioned in the stories and Shanty kindly recommended some local ancient sites which I was so grateful for. My brother goes on Shanty's ghost walk every year and loves it. Shanty always looks out for him and he was thrilled to hold the lantern this year! I highly recommend booking one of the walks if you're staying in the area.

Absolute first class. Extremely helpful to us as novices. Booked beginners and improvers surfing, and coasteering. Would recommend without hesitation.

Had an amazing time in my surfing class today. The waves were big, but that made it even more exciting. I really enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely be back for more

Visited here on the 20th of August for a beginners lesson with my partner who had booked this as a suprise and it was one of the best experiences and would definitely recommend trying it at least once! The instructors were very knowledgeable and friendly, a short brief on the beach was then followed by catching the waves lying down and then a little break and learning how to stand then back into the water. It was great conditions and I was standing up in no time on the board riding the waves! 5* for St Ives surf school, it's a must!

Great lunch! It ain't cheap but lunch at the Porthminater was the food highlight of our trip to St Ives. Our dog Herbie was offered a bowl of water, very important to us as dog owners, and the service continued to impress. Polite and prompt, it is not surprise that you can find the Pothminster in the Michelin guide, the service was excellent throughout our lunch. The food was excellent, my pork cheek and my wife's monk fish curry are worthy of particular mention, and was complemented by stunning views across Porthminster beach. We booked a table for dinner at Porthminster Beach Café and were seated by the wall. I asked if we could move to an empty window table, but was told it had been booked and the guests would be arriving shortly. However, by the time we left, the table was still empty. It felt like they could have let us sit there with the understanding that we’d need to vacate by a certain time. The food was fine, but nothing particularly special. Overall, a bit disappointing given the reputation, price and location.

The Capt Sir Richard Francis Burton Museum, located in St Ives, Cornwall, UK, is a unique attraction housed in a private residence. It offers visitors an insight into the life of Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton, a renowned British explorer and scholar known for his linguistic abilities and extensive travels across Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The museum is modeled after Burton's smoking room in Trieste and provides an entertaining narration of his extraordinary life through various exhibits within an 80-square-meter space.
What a pleasant surprise! Reading the reviews I didn't have particularly high expectations. What I found was a small museum in a single room very tastefully furnished in an oriental style with pictures of Burton's life lining all the walls. You will be taken through a 1h narrated audio tour of the pictures giving you a view of the fantastic (literally) life of Richard Burton. I had no prior knowledge of Burton but will for sure need to learn more. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely visit again.
Kristoffer S — Google review
This is a labour of love by Shanty Baba who should be applauded for the courage it takes to dedicate a room in your house to the great man. More a shrine than a museum, simply because it is a single room about 8’0 square and an entertaining narration of Burton’s extraordinary life is played over the course of an hour referencing various exhibits around the walls. 4 stars rather than 5 because a casual visitor with no interest in Burton’s achievements might find it rather too niche. As an RFB fan of long standing I was thoroughly entertained.

St Ia's Parish Church stands as a remarkable testament to the rich history of St. Ives, dating back to the early 15th century. This stunning church is renowned for its captivating Madonna and Child sculpture nestled in the Lady Chapel, alongside a striking tall tower that reaches approximately 24 meters (80 feet) high, constructed from impressive Cornish granite blocks.
Very unusual and pretty little church. The exterior is like most others, but inside is quite unique.

A very appealing church that overlooks St Ives and its beautiful scenery. Had the pleasure of taking a look inside, the inside of the church is stunning and is a very peaceful place. One church member was here and she was very friendly and polite.

Only had the pleasure of walking past this lovely church, but from the outside it's an impressive building in a lovely location

Very peaceful church with beautiful inside carving and stone work. Also has an outdoor space for teas and light refreshments with views across the harbour.

Superb and unmistakable church in St Ives, Cornwall. The 80ft tower dominates the town. The inside is well kept, prayerful and had an excellent standard of liturgy. The organist is also top notch and encourages a strong Anglican musical tradition. Of note beyond the beautiful interior is that this church was built via a special papal degree and at such a precise time just before the Reformation that it is the benchmark in dating other features of West Cornwall churches.
Kevin K — Google review
Beautiful church at a beautiful spot in the heart of the city. St. Ives is a little busy in the summer, so we stayed in Carbis Bay. It is only a 10 minute drive to St. Ives and we have been there regularly.

St. Ia's is a lovely little Anglican-Catholic parish church in the heart of St. Ives and worth a short visit. The inside I wouldn't call spectacular, but it has a warm atmosphere to it, and the café will offer you prices that compare favourably to the coffee joints in the neighbourhood. The extremely welcoming volunteers will inform you about the history of the church and St. Ives.

Outdoor Activities
Carbis Bay Beach is a picturesque and sheltered sandy beach located just a short drive from Riviere Sands caravan park and east of St Ives. It is the most protected among the sandy beaches along the coast, making it ideal for families with young children due to its calm waters, perfect for swimming. The beach stretches about a mile and boasts stunning views of turquoise waters and sub-tropical plants.
Fantastic beach, beautiful sand and clear blue water. Gentle seas are perfect for swimming and younger children, but still a few waves to keep it interesting. At low tide a ship wreck is visible and you can walk around it and you can also paddle around to the next beach - which you can also get to on the coast path. Food, drink and facilities behind the beach, but they can be pricey due to the location. You pass Carbis Bay on the coast path and St Michael's Way pilgrimage footpath. Both routes you can follow for a while if you want to... Or you can just relax on this magical beach.
Kevin K — Google review
Fantastic view! It's worth the taking the coast trail from St Ives. This trail walk also provides very beautiful views of the coast. It's easy to manage for even normal people. Beach is very clean and surreal. There is cave kind of structure at one end of the beach, you can peep inside (not recommended to enter). Train station is just around the corner. So, it's easy to catch the train back to St Erth from here, instead of catching it from St Ives.

Great beach gets busy and is hilly but worth it. Has toilets and beach shop for refreshments and ice cream and beach toys...

Lovely small beach, but boy the hills are steep to get down there and back up again.

Carbis Bay Beach is absolutely stunning – the perfect spot to truly feel the essence of summer! The golden sand, clear turquoise water, and breathtaking views make it a dream destination for anyone looking to relax or explore. It’s not just a beach, it’s a wonderful touristic place where you can soak up the sun, take refreshing swims, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Cornwall. The area feels peaceful yet lively, with plenty of nearby cafes and activities to make the day unforgettable. A true gem where summer really comes alive – highly recommended! 🌞🌊

Beautiful beach with calm waters, perfect for swimming and relaxing. Stunning views!

Gorgeous wide expanse of clean, fine white sand - perfect for sandcastle building and sand sculpting! Strong winds and big waves when we visited so worth taking windbreaks and warm layers, even on a sunny day. We parked - free after 4pm - in the car park at the top of the hill. Steep descent to the beach; not accessible and a tough hill climb for myself, as an able asthmatic on the way back. Well worth it though: we'd definitely go back.

The Island in St. Ives is a picturesque area featuring the 13th-century St Nicholas Chapel and offering stunning sea views along a relaxing walking route. Despite being more of a peninsula than an island, it provides easy access from the town center and is relatively flat, making it suitable for leisurely strolls with older dogs or families with children.
Fantastic views. St Ives is the best place I have been in Cornwall, it gets very busy after midday that you will not find any parking so I recommend that you go early and have a cup of coffee somewhere until the shops open at 9/10:30. Note: if you eat a Cornish pastie on the street you may get attacked by seagulls, I saw a lady losing hers and almost got mine taken.
Alberto S — Google review
Fantastic place for a short walk and to get away from the crowds of tourists in St Ives. Great views over the town and beyond.
Luke B — Google review
This is definitely one of the best spots on St Ives. Had a great moment watching the sunset, meditated for a while, just sitting on the bench and overlooking the Bay Area. There’s no better way to appreciate our Mother Nature than embracing the wind, listening to tides and taking in all natural smells. I can only wish to spend more time observing the view and make the most out of it.

Fantastic hillside that provides some amazing views no matter the weather. The entirety of St Ives and the bay can be seen from here. Great place to set up a picnic or for some family relaxation.

Scenic Walking Areas
We did the long coastal walk from St Ives to Zennor, and OMG the views are spectacular. You can expect to see seals, cattle, and waterfalls. Fair warning this walk is not for all levels, the path is unprotected, there is no shelter, and if it rains it can be tricky as it gets very muddy. We went the day after it rained and really struggled with the mud in some areas where it would reach our knees. Consider about 11.5 km with a fair elevation. Nonetheless absolutely gorgeous views and worth it!
Valeria — Google review
Stunning views on the walk from St ives to Zennor, its is not for the faint hearted, steep drops and some rock falls make it quite scary if you have no head for heights (like me). That said, I am glad I did it and was rewarded with fantastic views and a well earned pint in the Tinners arms
Kate — Google review
Fantastic walk and scenery. Tricky walking in places with large boulders. Boots or proper walking shoes recommended.
Steven G — Google review
Lush, subtropical vegetation and splendid views along the rugged coastline. If you time it well, you can make use of the excellent bus services along the coastline to bring you to your starting point, or pick you up from your destination (5£ for a day ticket). If you don’t like hiking there and back, check OS Maps or other apps for circular walks. Zennor car park is a good base for a circular walk.
Daniel P — Google review
Pick up the South West Coast Path anywhere along it's route and you will see spectacular vistas, panoramic views and mine engine houses. You will see wildlife including hawks, seals, snakes and lizards, dramatic cliff faces and seas of flowers. Many coves and beaches adorn the coastline, most of them accessible. There are many car parks next to the pathway where you can just sit and enjoy the wonderful view The tranquillity the whole route is amazing as is the fresh sea breeze. No better way to exercise your body and you will be glad you made the effort.
Ewan B — Google review
Beautiful walk from St. Ives or Travalgan Touring Park towards Zennor (and then talking the bus to return). Long interesting walk with a wonderful view. You can see the sea lions and sometimes some other animals crossing your way. Nice beaches where you think you are in the Caribbean instead of being in England. There are some more difficult large rocks - so you should wear some good shoes.

Excellent spot. The hill billy shooting range is up there with the pyramids as days out go. I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better way to spend a pound than on 30 shots at the range. Hours of fun for all.

I'm a retro gamer - bought up on arcade games in the 90s - so imagine my absolute delight at finding this place full of arcade perfect classics such as Time Crisis 2! This arcade is an absolute gem. At the front and towards the middle, you have the usual and traditional seaside machines such as penny drops and toy grabbers. But venture further in and you'll find Guitar Hero, Star Wars Battle Pods, Virtual Racer and many more! The prices are reasonable too - many games are 50p and some £1. Highly recommended for a nostalgic trip down gaming memory lane!

I’ve got great memories of this place from the early-mid 80’s through to last summer, it’s barely changed!! There is no pressure to make a purchase in this gallery; however, the badger piece caught my attention and now adorns my bedroom wall. If you're exploring the vibrant art scene in St Ives, don't overlook the Art House Gallery. Nestled in a charming locale, this gallery showcases an impressive array of contemporary works that resonate with both locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is refreshingly unpretentious, making it a delightful stop for anyone who appreciates high-quality art without the hefty price tag. As you stroll through town, you might just stumble upon this gem—it's perfect for those spontaneous moments when inspiration strikes!
I think this is the first time my wife (a prolific and successful artist herself) and I have ever visited a gallery where we both felt that all the art on display was of a similar high standard, with unpretentious pricing. We were just on a walk through the town and came across the gallery by accident, and weren't in a position to make a purchase, but I'm sure we'll be back when the tourists have gone home and we have some space on our walls for other artists' works (as I mentioned, my wife is quite prolific!). fb.me/suehardingartist

Within seconds of walking into Art House Gallery we asked if our small friendly dog could enter. The bad tempered woman behind the desk jumped up to usher us out responding with “how could we think of letting a dog into a gallery like this with original artwork displayed?”…. Well, for your information…. Every other gallery in St Ives welcome dogs making us feel very comfortable. We live in St Ives, own many pieces of local art & we’re always on the look out for the next painting to take home. I would advise the bad tempered woman behind the desk to take an online customer service course and if she is so afraid of her original artwork on display getting damaged, perhaps she could respectfully get them off the floor & onto the wall !!
Nick G — Google review
I received a warm welcome. Was left to browse at my leisure. The owner was talking to another visitor and I was impressed at her in-depth knowledge of the subject matter, and the variety of different styles. Oh and clearly “well behaved” dogs are welcome. Not my dogs, they belonged to the other visitors to the gallery. I will definitely be going back when I have decided which of the two painting I’m going to have.
Jane G — Google review
The owner is rude and obnoxious. It’s a lovely gallery and my husband was seriously contemplating purchasing through the website, as he wanted to consider his purchase. As we were leaving without buying anything the owner decided to make rude comments saying that we “were making an excuse” not to purchase. Well I can say for sure that we definitely won’t be and if I was an artist I would seriously reconsider showcasing my work there and giving this rude woman any sort of commission. If you don’t want to deal with the public, don’t own a gallery.
Sarah T — Google review
The owner should not be running a public facing business! The moment she decided we weren’t going to make a purchase she became rude and practically ushered us out! So unbelievably short sighted because we will never go back and who’s to know we might have made a purchase on another visit to St Ives.
Rogef B — Google review
What a fantastic gallery ran by educated, intelligent and inclusive staff. This is a gallery for everyone. Never before have I seen such a cohesive collection of incredible work and artists in one place. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and are excited to explain what they know about each piece of work you might express an interest in. The work inside is very much the vibe of the place - POSITIVE VIBES! There really are price point and styles for any art lover. My husband and I have wanted to purchase some art since the start of our marriage over ten years ago, and of all our worldly travels have never been even tempted by anything we’ve seen…until we visited here and bought four wonderful pieces of art! To be honest, I could have bought more had I not used most of my savings! This place is an absolute gem and we will of course be back!
V L — Google review
Rude and discriminatory staff We thought long and hard before posting this review, but our experience was so out of sync with all our other encounters in St Ives. We enjoyed looking at the art - the staff made every effort to tell us about the art - but her whole demeanour changed when we went to leave without buying anything - she told us we had wasted her time! She then went on to insult my partner for being American, as apparently they are less likely to buy art than Brits, or so she says. The whole experience put a bitter taste in the mouth in what was a lovely morning walking around St Ives. Don’t visit this gallery, unless you are certain of buying something (which is difficult to know before you have seen any of the paintings!)
Alex — Google review
A lovely gallery and an owner who took time to talk to me about the painting in which I was interested. Galleries can sometimes be intimidating places if you don't know a lot about art but see something you really like - not this gallery. Friendly and welcoming. Market House gallery in Cornwall is renowned for its exceptional collection of artwork. The gallery showcases a diverse range of Cornish art, both historical and contemporary, without exorbitant pricing. With ever-changing displays of paintings, ceramics, glassware, and jewelry, it offers an enticing selection for art enthusiasts. Market House has gained a reputation for its reliable services and the proprietor Paul's extensive knowledge and helpfulness. It is highly recommended as one of the premier galleries in Cornwall.
Came here last year and spotted a couple of things I liked, made a visit back this year and will be returning annually. Really nice mix, some galleries locally across Cornwall don't have much variety in the styles/artists but this has a lot of versatility and walked away with an order.

Visited Market House Gallery in Marazion today - Very eclectic collection of art with lots of paintings and surprisingly a large amount of good quality studio pottery / glassware including the Leach potters everything from a Bernard Leach original to current standard ware. There were examples of most of the famous Leach potters for sale including Bill Marshall. Most interesting was the fireplace which included original examples of BL tiles. 9 signed by BL and 3 unsigned but most definitely his. Wonderful to see! Paul the owner was extremely knowledgable and honest he told me the fireplace initially came up at auction for £5000 but couldn’t sell and he bought it at a later auction for £2000. Don’t be put off by the prices as Paul said he will always look for a deal having beautiful art doesn’t pay bills. I have included a photo not because it was the best pottery on show but because I will likely be making him an offer for one of the Yunomis from Bill Marshall’s estate! Forgive my poor photography!

Walked in and had a look around.... When we looked at the computer in the corner there was an extremely graphic pornographic image on the screen.....not art of any kind either!! We had a 14 year old with us who saw it too.... Really disappointed and won't ever return. Off home for a wash now.

Historical landmark
Roger's Tower is a fascinating historical site that offers stunning views and a glimpse into the area's quarrying history. It can be reached via an enjoyable walk through Baker's Pit Reserve, featuring wide paths and abundant historical points of interest. The tower itself provides panoramic vistas of Mounts Bay to the South and the North Coast, as well as Castle-an-Dinas quarry.
The view from this tower is panoramic, From Porthtowan to St Micheal's Mount to Mousehole. The tower has a ground floor and a domed roof, at one time it had a door and windows. The stone used looks very much like that of the collapsed walls of the ancient castle!! From Ludgvan direction you can park in a large layby and walk back to the Redruth turn off, the Bridle track is opposite this road. About a mile and a half's walk on an easy going path.

A lovely spot, with unbelievable views. Quite a walk, as we tagged this on with Chysauster ancient village which was also very interesting
P F — Google review
Stayed over night here while walking LEJOG, great detour, fantastic sunset and with wonderful views in the morning of penzance (best seen from a distance) and St Michael's. Roger did not visit me during my stay however I did hear footsteps and whispers at different times of the night.

You’ll see this folly often from the road. It’s not easy to get to - but you’ll get there easily from the walk from Bakers Pit Reserve. Great views and a great insight into the size of the quarry as it’s right in front. The walk is easy along wide paths and plenty of history to take in on the way. The Tower is only a small part of things to see.
John T — Google review
Quite a walk to get there from any direction but really worth it on a clear day for the fabulous views over Mounts Bay to the South and across to the North Coast. Just stunning and an interesting building. Also overlooks Castle-an-Dinas quarry.

Pillbox is a well-preserved Type 24 pillbox featuring bronze sculptures of "Dave" and "Bird." Visitors can access the interior via steps and stepping stones. Despite the closed door, the pillbox remains structurally sound due to its center support. The sculptures add an interesting touch to this historical site, making it a unique attraction for history enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
Type 24 pillbox with bronze sculptures "Dave" and his pal "Bird" sat on it. The pillbox is in very good condition with steps and stepping stones down to it. It had been opened when I was there so can go inside if you wanted to. The pillbox has a centre support so no danger of collapse (So why block it off).

Anglican church
Easy to see why St Uny church is popular for weddings in the summer – a very picturesque ancient church. The path to the beach runs right by the church and in the summer the roads are full of parked cars. Quite extensive graveyards around the church, and from the church grounds excellent views across the estuary and out towards the coast. Useful information boards inside the church.
Roy S — Google review
A little gem well worth a peek when walking the South west coast path
Jeroen S — Google review
Idyllic location often rushed past on way to beach (path from car park goes past church on the right and Heritage Centre on the left). The church is old and attractive with some impressive stained glass windows, but it is the views that enthral me day after day. A peaceful retreat. The graveyards feel like areas of tranquility as many graves around church and on way into Heritage Centre area are very old. Lots of interesting history (by the church see the gravestone of a man from 1800’s that illustrates the high infant death rate, more recent fisherman graves, large local business family with factory visible from graveyard etc). There are 4 graveyards - 2 by church, 1 closed. 2 by Heritage Centre, 1 closed. In summer the graveyard areas either side of path can look a mess as cost savings and supposed wild flower and bee issues reduce cutting. There seems to be a lack of respect for the graves with trees growing in graves and area of graves completely overrun. A shame, but it should not put you off exploring the Heritage Centre area. The signage is another illustration of religion gone wrong, one of the most famous graves, a local artist is omitted as in the grave is in the open graveyard which is Methodist. The pamphlet in the church is more open on the topic. From April to end October the Heritage building is open with lovely teas and cakes served. There are things to buy but it also stores a lot of local history in pamphlets and exhibitions, well worth the visit to sit, read and relax. BTW, was used for filming early in year for a Rosamunde Pilcher German broadcasting programme. They even brought s gravestone.

We started our pilgrimage walk from here, and I can honestly say that all the local churches along the way were beautiful places of quiet contemplation with a very welcoming aura

St Uny's church affords spectacular views over the whole of St Ives bay. Wether it's a brisk walk or a Sunday afternoon stroll. You will enjoy this location. There is a golf course nearby and the beaches down below. Importantly though this is a Church, and worth a visit.

A really special place as my grandparents are buried there, and we used to attend services when I was a child. Beautiful and quiet setting, usually with parking available nearby, and nice walks down towards the coastal path also.

Art gallery
This store is one of the UK's leading ceramics galleries, showing a range of contemporary and historic pottery. Pots and pieces are available to buy at very reasonable prices, making it an ideal place to explore if you're looking for some unique artworks. The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, so you'll be able to chat about the various techniques used by potters with them if you're interested.
I have been a regular visitor the St Ives Gallery for some 25yrs and met John Bedding the owner when we both studied at Sir John Cass in Whitechapel in the mid 60's. I have alway considered the Gallery to the best this side of London for showing contemporary ceramics.
John P — Google review
Amazing display of ceramics from.various artists. The quality is excellent and it was wonderful to see such a range of work in one place.
Angela A — Google review
The exhibition and quality and price of art pieces in this gallery are mind blowingly cheap. We could have spend 1000s there. Standard very high. We had the most brilliant staff member talk to us about pieces and throwing and various techniques used by potters. Highly recommend.
Ruth G — Google review
I have purchased items online from this shop before. The shop is owned by John Bedding, a potter with fantastic antecedents having worked at the Leach pottery over several years and….. all over the world. The shop has something for everyone but particularly studio pottery enthusiasts. Items for sale include pottery by Dame Lucie Rie, William Marshall, Shoji Hamada, Janet Leach Phil Rogers, Jim Malone, Walter Keeler and a plethora of other famous potters. There are items on display by Bernard Leach and many interesting details of the Leach pottery with photographs and written evidence. There are items for sale from todays Leach standard ware which are ideal as gifts to take back home will support the new generation of potters maintaining the Leach tradition and will not leave you wondering what you did with your holiday money!

It may look small from the outside but it isn’t! A wonderful surprise for anyone interested in contemporary ceramics. Beautifully laid out and works by many celebrated uk ceramicists and a bonus, some by Hamada. I could have spent a day in there and spent a fortune!

Lovely variety of different artwork. Very friendly gallery owners.

We entered this shop earlier today and saw the exhibits were not what we were seeking. Mr David Hill approached us and we politely explained the art work was not the type we were looking to purchase. I was incredibly taken aback when Mr Hill actually said “Probably too expensive for you”. I was shocked and unfortunately didn’t reply to his rude comment. Mr Hill we could most probably have afforded anything you had to offer, it was not the type of artwork we wished to purchase. Please do try in future not to be so judgemental!
