Museum
History Museums
Royal Cornwall Museum, located in Truro, is a treasure trove of art and culture. Established in 1818 by The Royal Institution of Cornwall, the museum showcases a diverse collection of over one million artifacts from around the world. Visitors can explore exhibits on minerals, wildlife, and the region's history. Notable highlights include an Egyptian mummy and the Rashleigh mineral gallery.
Highly recommend the exhibition currently running at the Royal Cornwall Museum, “Uncharted - Sea Journals of a Cornish Mariner” by artist Julia McKenzie who has created an amazing body of work inspired by her great-grandfathers sea diaries from the 1890s. The work is absolutely exquisite, the stories are incredibly moving and the history is so interesting. On until 2nd November. Plus at the RCM is the amazing new interactive Rocks and Minerals gallery.

This was our first visit, and we really enjoyed it! It’s a small but interesting museum in the heart of Truro. It took about an hour to walk through, and there was plenty to see. I really liked the old furniture and antiques. The museum is great for all ages, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Kamagra U — Google review
I haven't been here since I was a kid when my mum used to take me and my brother every Friday after school to see the mummy! Absolutely fabulous building and is immaculate, the 80's exhibition brought back so much nostalgia 🥰 The staff were all amazing and we had a Learning Assistant come and talk to us about the paintings we were looking at, he was so knowledgeable and a credit to the team. Will definitely go back again and not leave it so long! Well worth a visit .
Tamsin — Google review
Cornwall Museum is a quiet triumph of curiosity and local pride. Each gallery feels like a small doorway into another chapter of Cornish life, from the region’s deep geological story to its artistic pulse and maritime grit. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, easy to explore, and clearly created by people who care about the place they’re sharing. The staff are warm and genuinely happy to guide you, and the interactive displays add a welcome spark for families. It’s the kind of museum that doesn’t shout for attention; it invites you in and rewards you with details you didn’t know you were missing. A wonderful stop for anyone who wants to understand Cornwall beyond the postcard views. Highly recommended.
Bryony R — Google review
Superb museum, well worth a visit. Situated in the heart of town, has all the history of Cornwall, art, playing spaces for kids. Variety for everyone. Building itself is worth seeing from the inside. Highly recommend
Mantas — Google review
A nice county museum, with interesting collections, nicely presented. The building is lovely, and quite accessible. Good museum shop, with an excellent cafe.
Peter B — Google review
Had a wonderful time re-visiting my younger days at the 80's nostalgia exhibition 👾👨‍🎤🎶🕹📼📺
Catherine H — Google review
This is one of the best museums we have been to, the only ones that are better are the big ones in London, it is extremely well set out, the displays are very relatable and creatively put together and the minerals collection is marvellous. The art exhibitions were fantastic, the Tony Foster is a must see and the book that accompanied the exhibition is beautiful and inspiring. The 1980s exhibition with really delighted this 80s teenager and my sons were fascinated by the unwrapped Mummy. The museum is great value for money and they have put a huge amount of thought into their displays, it's full accessable and has good facilities.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Truro Cathedral is a stunning Victorian Gothic Revival Church located in the heart of Truro, Cornwall. It was constructed in 1880 and is the only cathedral built in the UK after St Paul's in London. The cathedral boasts three spires, with the tallest reaching 250 meters high, making it one of just three cathedrals in the country to have this feature.
Very interesting and nice looking Cathedral in Truro centre. Well worth a visit and entrance is free. Nice little square with benches at the main entrance.
Peter M — Google review
Fabulous cathedral, lovely stain glass, marble fonts, stunning ceilings & decor. Great display of tapestries depicting Genesis & how God created the world. Well worth a visit. Free to enter, but encouraged to make a donation.
Julia H — Google review
Medieval Gothic might be preferable but for the County Town, the Victorian version works just fine. Some wonderful art treasures and connections with the past. It's the light which impresses and the private chapels. The 19th century glass is superb
Peter S — Google review
Great experience at the weekend as the Cathedral had a silent disco. Three DJs light's and lazors. Also a bar for drinks. Fabulous evening. With a huge planet Mars suspended from the ceiling.
Ian — Google review
absolutely beautiful and fantastic cathedral not as big as so many in the UK however has a certain charm to it has all the usuall things you would expect no toilets disabled accessible beautiful vicar and a lovely volunteers that help the cathedral run keep up the good work
Matthew B — Google review
The Cathedral is great, although our visit was somewhat spoilt by the annual judges and solicitors etc awards night being set up in the main area. Loud sound check music and disco lights isn't what you expect in a church.
Phil S — Google review
Beautiful cathedral, well worth visiting if you have the time.
Luke B — Google review
This cathedral is a beautiful place to visit I visited Truro Cathedral with my family this summer and was amazed by its stunning Gothic Revival architecture. The intricate stained-glass windows and tall spires created a peaceful and awe-inspiring atmosphere. The interior was beautifully maintained, and the staff were welcoming and informative. We enjoyed the quiet reflection time and the lovely surrounding area. A truly memorable visit and a must-see landmark in Cornwall.

Theaters
The Hall for Cornwall, also known as the HFC, is a renowned theatre in Truro that offers a diverse range of live performances including music, drama, dance, and comedy. Since its conversion in 1997, it has been captivating audiences with international touring productions and an annual panto. Originally Truro's Market House in the 18th century and later transformed into the City Hall, this historic venue now hosts a variety of shows from stand-up comedy to family-friendly musicals.
Staff were amazing when we came in with my mum who has lost her vision. They were very attentive and helpful. A lovely woman came up to us throughout the concert and checked in to see if there was anything they could help with. Thank you to the lovely staff working the waterboys show!!
Nina B — Google review
Brilliant little venue with lots of local parking, warm friendly staff and some great acts, well worth a visit. Handy little 'spoons over the road too for those cheap pre show drinks. 😉🙂
Jeff R — Google review
I really enjoyed seeing a show here. As an agoraphobic I was worried but we were directed our seats, it was easy to find the toilets and exits and even though we had balcony seats I could see the stage without needing my long distance glasses. I'd happily go again, even on my own now! Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Saranne H — Google review
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the venue was very clean and well set out. There appeared to be mixed feelings of the unisex toilets, lots of comments from both men and women of how uncomfortable they felt. I am not sure I am a fan of the pre-ordered drinks being lined up on a long table with your name under, it's not clear how long they had been there, I won't be using that service again. Overall a wonderful evening was had
Kit P — Google review
We went to see Derren Brown... It was fantastic.... Not allowed to say more except he blows your mind! Hall for Cornwall is a beautiful building in centre square of Truro. Will defoe go there more often. Staff friendly, organised. Shops all around you. Cathedral right there. Cobbled roads which get slippery when wet, where good walking shoes. Best way to get there is use park & ride. Cheap fares, discounts on group tickets, buses run every 15mins, loads of parking, not busy even for Saturday afternoon. It's easy to find park & ride on Google maps, takes you straight there. Had best day. Fabulous time had by all family.
Tina L — Google review
It's always a pleasure to visit the Hall for Cornwall in Truro. A wonderful venue to stage some amazing plays, musicals and more. Check their website for upcoming events. I have to make a special mention for the unpaid volunteer ushers, on whom, the theatre depends. Well done ladies and gents!
Les P — Google review
We saw LaVoix here. It was a great show and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They took me from the entrance to the wheelchair space. The view was perfect. Its a wonderful venue.
Richard B — Google review
Gold star to Ben from the access team for providing such helpful information on the phone & in person when I went to view the wheelchair spaces available, nothing was too much trouble. Booking is available online, in person & over the phone. The website offers wheelchair space dimensions for each seat space, which for someone like me (arctic lorry length) is much appreciated. The building itself clearly benefited from feedback from the disabled community. Large, open spaces in corridors & the cafe. Personally I would have liked to see more disabled spaces available, especially near the front of the stage, especially as this venue holds music events where the public could stand, totally blocking the view. The changing places toilet isn't the largest, but it does get plenty of green ticks for keeping the hoist fully charged, red cord hanging to ground level etc. If you like audio description with your toileting, you are in luck! My only other feedback would be to add the lift dimensions, although then Ben & I wouldn't have had such a lovely chat, who made me feel very welcome ;)

Victoria Gardens is a lovely outdoor space in Truro, perfect for a leisurely stroll or simply enjoying the natural beauty. The gardens feature an array of trees and plants, with summer flower displays adding vibrant colors to the surroundings. Visitors can also find seating areas, including some undercover spots, making it ideal for relaxation. A notable highlight is the wildflower plot that attracts plenty of bees, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
Lovely small park and gardens. No play equipment but grassed areas, numerous benches and a bandstand where there are sunday afternoon free concerts in the summer. There is a coffee and snack hut on site. Poor toilet facilities. Very little parking available except for on Sundays, when you can park on the roadside.
Jim O — Google review
Nice walk around the gardens today. Stopped off at Pollen Café for a nice cup of tea. Lovely.
Peter H — Google review
A very pleasant stroll through gardens that are well maintained. Lots of lovely blooming flowers so it's clear they're well kept. Toilets are quite rammy though so I'd go elsewhere if youre desperate!
Ian G — Google review
Wow! Nestled close to the heart of Truro city centre is the beautiful garden! I only discovered it by accident, but if you have time, this is well worth a visit. Plenty of seating available, and a little cafe is in there too. When I'm next in Truro, I will be going back! I only had time to look at some of the paths, and I want to walk them all!
Leanne R — Google review
Fabulous park, grab a coffee from the "Pollen" cafe seasonal. Beautiful gardens just a minute or two from the shops

Love visiting the bandstand on a Sunday to hear a brass or silver band (for free) and sitting in the lovely gardens watching the bees whilst listening to lovely music and eating an ice cream from the Pollen tea rooms.

Skinners Brewery is a family-owned brewery that produces pale ales and bitter. You can enjoy a tour, listen to live music, or sample their beers at the Tap Yard Bar. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Dogs are welcome in the bar area.
Skinner's brewery is just the best, super nice atmosphere amazing ales, and just great. There's boots inside and stools + benches, or sit outside all lit up and lovely. Would recommend Betty Stoggs, Porthleven and Lushingtons 🍻🍺🍻👌💪. We also got some cans from the shop to takeaway - so will be having Cornish Blonde, Cornish Trawler and some more Stoggs at home 💪👌🍺! Awesome! ☺️

Nice range of locally brewed ales and spirits and great atmosphere. But I have eaten there three times now trying different things and I just don't rate the food I had boneless chicken wing they arrived cold and absolutely smothered in bbq sauce for the price you pay for the food give it a 4 out of ten sorry just my view on the standard of the food

I have been on quiet a few brewery tours in my time, Skinners was interesting and informative to say the least. Dave our guide was excellent. The tasting session after the tour was the best I have ever done 🍺. It's a family run brewery and ALL the employees are so happy in their jobs. Thanks to you all 🍻
Andrew E — Google review
Me n the Mrs were the only ones there on the tour and what a welcome, the boys there couldn't do enough for us. Friendly and knowledgeable and customer service was brilliant. The tour is well worth the money and and really informative. The little shop there is fantastic and sells everything they brew. Missed out on a cuddle with Betty Stoggs, but made up for it with a few bottles of her beer instead. Come back for a beer and a t-shirt, just the same, excellent beer and customer service 🤓

Truro, a charming Cornish city with its striking neo-gothic Cathedral and cobbled Georgian streets, offers pet-friendly pubs and cafes for a relaxing time after visiting Boscawen Park or Victoria Gardens. For more adventure, take a seasonal boat trip from Truro down the River Fal to Falmouth where dogs can explore Pendennis Castle or visit the dog-friendly Tudor castle in St Mawes.
One of the best parks I've been to. Clean & loads of swings etc for kids. 2 full size football pitches with nets up & tennis courts. Changing rooms available & a lovely cafe aswell. And the view is amazing! Feels like you're abroad, not in the UK
Ismail H — Google review
I visited Boscawen Park with my son and we had such a lovely time. The play area is excellent for children with plenty of space to run around and explore, and it felt really safe. We stopped at the café afterwards, which was welcoming and had a good selection of ice creams. The pond nearby was stunning too. So many benches with a wide variety of ducks. A truly peaceful spot to sit for a while. The whole park is well kept, friendly and a great place for families.
Grant M — Google review
The biggest drawback to this park is the sewage treatment plant just across the river which wafts it’s fragrance across the park to varying degrees throughout the day, as you may imagine this is not conducive to picnics or al fresco dining. There is a good view of the cathedral which is quite picturesque for a couple of hours around high tide when the river is full but the rest of the time it’s an expanse of slimy mud. Good tennis courts which have to be pre booked a kids play park and toilets. Parking free at time of writing but it will come as no surprise that the council propose to start charging next year (2026)
Fred N — Google review
Nice park to walk around. Has table tennis, free water, free toilets, away from traffic. Some beautiful trees, they are building a sports building for the cricket and foot ball pitches this which could improve it further.
Adam R — Google review
Fab park to take the kids to, even in the rain. The cafe is warm and welcoming, coffee is just what you need on any given day and the food is yummy too. Toilets are accessible which is a bonus.
Rosie J — Google review
Nice park, even has a disability swing. Beautiful, well kept duck pond over the road next to the cafe behind the park. Paths at the back lead up to a wood walk

I didn't think municipal parks with beautifully planted flower beds still existed, but they do - at least in Truro. Absolutely stunning displays of flowers and well-tended lawns. Delightful, and hats off to the gardeners!

Located in Truro, Hub Box is a vibrant restaurant offering beachside breakfasts, loaded burgers, and dirty fries. The American diner-style eatery features colorful artwork and low-hanging lights with large glass doors providing an ocean view. Originally a pop-up in a shipping container, it has grown into a successful burger empire with locations across the southwest of England.
Super cool venue with extra tasty food inside 😋.. Converted church now churning out a fine selection of bugers and other sides, this was our first visit and initially was curious due to it being an old church. Very trendy decor, awesome 80's playlist on in the background and the staff super friendly. We enjoyed our food and drinks here and would recommend it absolutely. Kids eat free Mon - Thursday 11 - 5 pm currently, so make the most of that. Burgers were delicious, onion rings were huge and tasty, chips were awesome and the kids enjoyed theirs, job done! Thanks, Hub Box.

Couldn’t have been nicer! Burgers are fantastic and sides delicious too. Good selected of beer. Well looked after. Has baby changing.

Exceptional. Particularly good options for low carb type 1 diabetic. How choice double cheese with no bun and salad. Excellent presentation of the food (we’ve seen some awful things in other restaurants). Well done.
RJ S — Google review
I've been here twice. I'm pretty sure the first time I came, I ordered a chicken burger that didn't appear on the menu the second time around but regardless, both times, I was presented with one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Such fresh, tasty, well seasoned chicken, fried in a batter in fresh oil that left a light, airy crisp coating. Perfection. Service is on point, accomodating, super friendly and prompt. All of this whilst set in what I believe is a converted church. Heavenly indeed
Ben — Google review
Our experience here has been nothing short of exceptional, we came in for a quick bite and left with a good experience and come back to spot, service was friendly, efficient and all around 5 stars, the food was incredible exactly as described on the menu and the atmosphere was also very fun, positive and welcoming, definitely would come back!!!
James H — Google review
I visited here on the 18th June 25 at 20:00hrs and ordered the Smoky B (a brisket type burger). However what I actually got was thin strips of cold grey meat that tasted rancid, I have a feeling that there may be meat storage and hygiene issues on these premises and I have reported it to Cornwall Council. The signs were all there dirty tables, sticky floors and we should of turned around and legged it, but one of our group was insistent that we try it, rather than walk too far, this was a big mistake. Why do staff ask if you enjoy your meal and when you say no, still charge you? I paid because I actually felt sorry for the staff member, but my advice is to stay clear of this spot. If the owners of the company need to know how Brisket should be cooked they need to contact me and I will show them, it's very poor, please stay clear. the place is a disaster. Regards Shaun Kent.
Shaun P — Google review
Exceeded expectations, the food was absolutely phenomenal and the bathrooms were the cleanest and nicest bathrooms I’ve ever experienced in a public space! Such friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed. Me and my partner ordered the halloumi fries, onion rings and cheese burgers and it was truly the best burger restaurant I’ve ever been to. Best spot if you’re in Truro, will be coming back next year!
Bella — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place! The premises is well done and looks the part. The food was key for us as we had two coeliac's in our party so gluten free was important! The burgers were amazing and juicy and the gluten free buns perfect! Even better was the gluten free onion rings which are hard to get so we really appreciated it. The kids menu was great value too on top of the large portions so we all left full and happy. Couldn't recommend enough!

Visitors can enjoy the sight of dragonflies, birds, and take a leisurely stroll in the woodland area. The gardens offer activities for children and are free to enter with parking available. Lovely lily ponds and a woodland walk. Beautiful autumnal day perfect for sitting on veranda of coffee shop looking over the gardens. Gardens are free and there is free parking.
Jo W — Google review
We spent a lovely while in this beautiful place. Dogs are very welcome so long as they are on a lead. Even on a dull day in September there were still plenty of waterlilies blooming, delightful maples showing different autumn colours, pampas grass, lots of lily ponds, dragonflies, birds and a little woodland walk. We didn't see another soul there but they've done an amazing job and created a splendid water garden that does them proud. There are bits for children to do too. 😊

The menu features a variety of seafood options, including fish and chips, seafood curry, shellfish platters, and scallops. For those who prefer non-seafood options, there are plenty of choices available on the tapas menu.
I walked in during dinner time, and although there were no available tables, the staff kindly offered me a seat at the bar table. I ordered scallops, mussels, and king tiger prawns as starters—all of which were fresh and delicious. For the mains, I had the mushroom truffle pasta and the fish of the day, which was John Dory. The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly, and the overall experience was excellent. Highly recommend!

Hooked: A Welcome Return and Delightful Dining Experience We recently revisited Hooked after a few years, and we were pleasantly surprised by the changes! The interior has been redesigned, with the open kitchen relocated to expand seating capacity. Despite the changes, the staff remain as helpful and welcoming as ever. We were particularly grateful to see the addition of a ramp at the entrance and an easily accessible disabled toilet, which was very helpful as my wife recently had foot surgery. For starters, we both enjoyed the delicious mussels. Hooked was incredibly accommodating, preparing my wife's portion with a dairy-free sauce due to her intolerance, and it was still absolutely delightful. Our main courses were the fish curry and the shellfish platter for one. Both dishes were lovely, and the shellfish platter offered a generously sized portion. My only minor quibble was the slight messiness of de-shelling the large prawns. The bread served with our meal was light and tasty, though we found the sea salt a little too prominent for our preference. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, and we found the prices to be reasonable. It's also worth noting that Cornwall Pard cardholders receive a 15% discount. Thank you, Hooked, for a wonderful dining experience! .

Come here for the seafood platter! Fresh and tasty seafood, and well worth the price tag. Also loved the crispy light haddock and chips - those chips were fried to perfection, and stayed crunchy until the end. Service was also really friendly.

We had a very lovely dinner here. The food was tasty and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The highlight for us was finding Hake Kiev on the menu – as Ukrainians, it was such a joy to enjoy this dish away from home, and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Beautifully cooked fresh fish and mussels with a selection of fabulous local wines. What a delightful fish restaurant, I only wish I could have brought my wife and friends. For starters I had the St Austell Bay mussels for starters which were beautifully smooth and silky in a lovely white wine sauce. And I couldn't resist saving the bread to mop up some of the left over sauce. For mains I had the catch of the day which was pan fried plaice with steamed vegetables and lyonnaise potatoes. The plaice was perfectly cooked - soft, moist & very easy to take off the bone, with a nice gentle amount of seasoning. One of the highlights for me was the addition of samphire, I love it's crunchy texture and slight saltiness. I paired all of this with a glass of the Knightor Trevinnion, a wine from Cornwall which did not disappoint with its soft fruit flavours. And finally, the staff were lovely - appropriately attentive and appreciative of me being a solo diner. Thank you. Ps if you've read this far then stop and just book it now.

The food was fantastic. Loved everything we tried. Would recommend booking as we turned up for dinner without booking and they didn't have space for us so we had to come back an hour later.

We visited Hooked for a pre theatre meal while in Truro and were very impressed. Loved the decor and the atmosphere in the restaurant and all the staff were so friendly and helpful, it has a great vibe. The food was so tasty, I had the Hake Kiev which was really good and tasted so fresh. Overall a great experience and will definitely be returning.

Restaurant
The Cornish Vegan is a cozy cafe located in Truro, Cornwall, offering a variety of globally inspired comfort foods made entirely vegan. The owners, Rob and Graham, who are also vegan, take pride in using locally sourced and sustainable ingredients to create their delicious dishes and cakes. Whether you're craving mac n sheese or gluten-free tofu katsu, this restaurant has something for everyone.
Incredible place run by the most wonderful people. Food is absolutely delicious with something to suit everyone - from fresh and vibrant to warming and indulgent. I'm not vegan but have always loved the food here. Highly recommend - you will be very well fed and looked after, plus the interior/garden is stunning. Perfect for a cosy hot choc or a summers evening under the stars.

What a wonderful little gem in Truro. A very nice selection for vegans, gluten free, and it is very well priced, should be more expensive than it is! The restaurant itself is very clean and has a lot of space as well. Its LGBTQ+ friendly, and even better that they accept dogs as well! I should also mention the staff that served us (7/12/2024) was super friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Alexa B — Google review
I couldn't rave about this place more! The food, the decor, the atmosphere, and the staff were all incredible. Not to mention very very reasonably priced considering it being in the heart of truro. I've been itching to try a meal here for years and finally made it to which it did not disappoint. We came at lunch time so there was a smaller menu than in the evening, but still with more than pleanty to tempt anyone. Both my partner and I were blown away not only with the taste of the food but also the quality of the ingredients, the presentation, the quantity, even the crockery was lovely. Additionally, we were made to feel so incredibly welcome and looked after, the staff were an excellent testament to the cornish vegan. They were friendly, attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable, warm, and speedy though at no point did we feel rushed. I wish I could come regularly as I not only wanted to try everything on the menu, but would love to give the cornish vegan the patronage it deserves.

Went for dinner with family and had the carbonara, hash browns, burger and the stir fry. Food was absolutely amazing, good portions for prices, tasty and very filling. It was our first time trying proper vegan food and we were definitely pleasantly surprised. Service was brilliant, super friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.
Sanam J — Google review
We had a wonderful meal here - it's a proper powerhouse for all things plant based so a real treat for vegans but at the same time, as it has such a wide range of dishes on the menu, it's also the perfect place to bring anybody who is just interested in trying some new flavours and ingredients. You'll find something to tempt you on the menu no matter who you are. Options span the range from a decadently delicious double stacked tower of vegan pastrami with smoked cheese, roasted red peppers, baby spinach and microgreens finished with sriracha mayo, to the Lunch Bowl bursting with colourful goodness and featuring sweet chilli tofu, lemon and dill marinaded carrots with homemade houmous alongside a range of epic vegetables and topped with a wasabi mayo dressing. The puds were seriously good too! The venue was relaxed and inviting, the team were super friendly and the food was 1st class. This one comes highly recommended as one of Cornwall's finest spots to indulge in original, delicious flavours and try some top notch plant based culinary magic first hand.

Great vegan restaurant that even the meat eaters enjoyed! One even said it was there favourite meal of our holiday! We are a group of 6 so booked ahead for a table and they were lovely on the phone to help accommodate us. Service was good and the food was great! As a vegan it was brilliant to have the choice of the entire menu! I went with the pasta of the day, which was mac and cheese and it was lovely. Two of the meat eater went for the chicken burger and loved it. Also another member who really enjoyed their had the mushroom fusion. Also a shout out for the gravy too. Everything was lovely, would recommend for all not just vegans.

Four different meals ordered, and all were absolutely delicious ! My wife is vegetarian so she just adored it, I’m a meat eater but it just doesn’t matter when food tastes as fantastic as this does ! Great service, price was surprisingly low, and even my trusty four- legged friend was brought a water bowl and a doggy biscuit on his own plate ! My daughter and her partner were extremely impressed and will return to the restaurant as they live locally. A big ‘thank you’ to all involved at The Cornish Vegan 👏🏼

As a non vegan - I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Who knew tofu could be so delicious. All the food was so filling too, we actually struggled to finish! The staff were so welcoming and lovely and it's a really cute place. Definitely recommend for a nice get together. The basket of feminine hygiene products in the bathroom was a really thoughtful little touch.

Bowling alley
Truro Bowl is a charming and classic bowling alley with a friendly and helpful staff. The place may seem a bit dated, but it offers clean facilities and reasonably priced food. While the arcade might not be the main attraction, the overall experience is enjoyable. Visitors can expect some issues with the bowling lanes, but despite that, they are likely to have great fun and would consider returning for another visit.
One of the best, if not the best, bowling alley in Cornwall. The lanes are well kept and oiled and the balls are in good condition. Drinks are well priced, staff are friendly and approachable. Went here last weekend with my partner for the first time, had 2 games for a decent price. Our only issue was the small amount of seating at the lanes, with 2 large groups next to us there was no seating for us but wasn't too much of an issue. Overall Truro Bowl is a lovely spot to knock down some pins and spend time with friends and family. They also have, air hockey, pool, bar machines and a classic Outrun 2 game which is pretty cool! Responding to other reviews, The facilities are a little bit rough but they are clean and usable. The decor is dated but I find this gives the place some charm! Will be going here more!

It was alright, nothing special. We went for a work do, I asked for a cheese burger with no bun, got a cheese burger with a bun 🙄. A couple of my colleagues couldnt eat their food, one was under cooked, the other was a veggie burger and she didnt managed one bite before giving it away to someone else. It's more of an activity place than a food place though, so cant expect much. Bowling was fun for everyone.
Laura G — Google review
Have been going since I was a young kid, was one of my favourite places but I can see this is slowly falling apart due to the construction outside and not much have changed inside within a decade of going. The prices are reasonable, excellent staff service and the food is standard, would suggest better options for fussy eaters though. One of the very few good social places left in Truro for people to hang out at, need more.

The dude working that day really didn't want to be there and wasn't afraid to let people know. In all my years of customer service I have never come across someone who has no business being in a position of customer contact than this guy. Rude doesn't come into it. Complained of noisy children (spoiler, it was a children's party) only turned on a few machines(there were 12 of them) and then ridiculed a parent when she was trying to explain her child has sensory issues. Luckily the kids took no notice and had a good time but staff need more training. Maybe check your prices too, paying that much we would expect all machines to be switched on.

We took my son and a friend to Player Ready Truro for a birthday treat. They were both inexperienced with VR, but the member of staff explained everything in a really accessible way, and was so helpful and calm. He picked up on when they were getting stuck and would go to help them before they had the chance to get frustrated. He offered them water when they were getting hot (because it does get hot!) He made good game suggestions to them and even let them play on the Xbox when they wanted to take a break from wearing the headsets. The venue was great, the equipment was great and the selection of games were great. (We paid for the arcade session.) I didn’t catch the member of staff’s name. But he was working on Saturday 5th July in the afternoon. So big thanks to that guy! We will definitely be back. My son absolutely loved it. Big parties with lots of people can be overwhelming for him, so we scaled back this year and we are so glad we did! Thank you for having us.

Absolutely awesome experience. We booked for 4 people to do a VR escape room as a birthday present for our nephew, and we had such a good time. The staff were really friendly and helpful, putting up with all my silly questions! The space is really cool, it's super easy to get to with parking across the road. The price for the session was really reasonable as well. I would definitely recommend checking out, and I'm sure I will be back again!

We have been 3 times over the past 4 months (Oct 2022, Dec 2022 and Jan 2023) and my girls LOVE it! They have tried 2 escape rooms and 1 individual game session. Two have been organised birthday parties. What makes the experiences 5 star is the manager on site (think he is called Sam?). He is a godsend!! He is SO patient and understanding. He would make an excellent teacher as he spoke to the children as individuals, consoled my girl who was in tears, tried a few things to make her feel better and generally an all round superstar. Player Ready should make sure they keep hold of Sam!

"The Drummer" is a captivating piece of art that offers an immersive experience. It showcases the beauty and complexity of traditional drumming, drawing visitors into its rhythmic world. The performance is a mesmerizing display of skill and passion, leaving a lasting impression on all who witness it. With its powerful beats and dynamic choreography, "The Drummer" is a must-see for anyone seeking an authentic cultural experience.
An eye catching, creative, thought provoking, awe inspiring statue that renders you speechless and unable to look away. Kudos to its creature, truly a treasure to Lemon Quay and its surrounding city of Truro. A must visit!
J M — Google review
This 15ft high statue, sculpted from bronze and Cornish tin, and mounted on a globe in the middle of Lemon Street's busy market area, caught my eye on a recent visit to Truro. Sculpted by British artist Tim Shaw, it represents the unique identity of Cornwall. An eye-catching work of modern art, though it looked in need of a good clean when I saw it!
Valerie H — Google review
It's a great piece of art but in the wrong place and out of context. Its " personal features" are on full show, so not ideal family viewing on a major concourse. Much to the amusement of every inquisitive child who points them out.. Also, what is its significance in Truro? What and where is the explanation or context.. surely a miner or a fisherman would have meant more to visitors and tourists alike. It's different, controversial, yes, thought-provoking, and well made. But it's wrong in that place. It's a drummer!! And I can see no simple obvious Cornish reason for it being there. Saying the cornish drum to a different beat doesn't work. That statue, in that pose. Does not show that in a meaningfully contextually interpretable way. Hopefully, the place will be redesignated as our version of Trafalgar Squares 4th plinth and the statue moved and changed for something else. Do we have a music school it could stand in front of or a greek war museum?

Fantastic kayaking session on 21st June. Four of us went out with Adam Hawker who was very informative, helpful and relaxed! We were all novices and a little nervous to start with but soon got into it. We were amazed to find that we had covered about 3 miles in all. Saw a seal pop his head up, heard peregrine's on the cliff top and Adam showed us some jellyfish. Would definitely do it again. Loved exploring the nooks and crannies of the coastline.

We went coasteering with Joe in the Lizard yesterday and had an absolutely amazing experience. We already loved the coastal walks in the area, but climbing cliffs, swimming through sea caves, jumping off rocks, and even visiting an old smugglers’ cave took the adventure to a whole new level. Joe knows the area like the back of his hand. He explained everything clearly and made us feel completely safe — even those in our family who aren’t naturally confident in the water. We were well equipped with winter wetsuits, helmets, and buoyancy aids, which kept us comfortable throughout. Highly recommended — a truly unforgettable adventure!

Porthtowan Beach is a stunning Blue Flag beach located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Cornwall. It's a popular surfing spot with large dunes and dramatic cliffs framing the area. At low tide, visitors can walk to the neighboring Chapel Porth beach. The surrounding Coast Path features reminders of the area's mining heritage and offers breathtaking sea views. Despite being surrounded by hills and cliffs, it's easily accessible for dog walkers due to its flat land at the rear.
Beautiful beach with its lovely little beach shop from april. Car park is expensive at £2.50ph (from April also,) but a lovely clean and quaint beach you can swim or walk the dogs on

Beautiful beach sheltered from the winds by high cliff faces on either side. Well looked after by lifeguards and a few places to eat inland, plus walks up the coast, and even a rock pool built into the coastline! Gets busy in summer (as you would expect), so parking is at a premium - surf hire also available by the beach.

This is an absolutely fantastic place. I visit here regularly. The land time forgot. The car is a 2-minute walk from the beach. They have a nice play area for children. They have nice bars, restaurants, great food, delicious ice cream, and surf shops. It is a little piece of heaven. Cheers, Vince.

Cosy surfing spot also popular with families. In high season, it gets saturated with tourists so much so that the fish & chip shop run out of cod, and advance booking at the Unicorn is essential.
L W — Google review
A great beach to walk the dog in the off season when the tide is out. Rock pools to explore and the headland shelters you from some of the coastal breeze. Parking wasn't an issue and there seemed to be plenty of places to eat nearby.

Beautiful scenery, very clean with plenty of bins provided fo4 disposal of rubbish. Some cafes and a small shop on the beach front plus pub and chip shop further up the street. Kids loved the beach and swimming in the sea. Lifeguards on duty between certain day time hours with visible presence and easy to contact. Very family friendly beach and also great for rockpooling. Looks even better when the tide is out due to more little coves to explore but amazing whatever time you visit. I haven't seen 4 teen boys who usually love computers smile that much being outdoors. There is also a clear little stream that runs over the beach and into the sea which was ideal for the kids to wash their sandy feet off on the way back to the car.

A really lovely beach with easy access from the parking lot (that is if you arrive early enough to get a spot, count on before 10 am on a sunny day). Only 4 stars because dogs are banned during the high season months, a sign in the parking lot or in town would be nice. Most beaches are dog friendly along the coast I really don’t understand why this one has to be an exception ?!

They had hand-made jewellery, textiles & ceramics. Plus Cornish Ketchup / sauces, tea grown (very unusually) in Cornwall, biscuits etc. Great things, packed into a small shop. The lady serving us was very friendly & helpful.

This is a welcoming and useful place. The location is attractive and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. We were given prompt, accurate information on a whole range of topics and enjoyed our conversation. I would say this place delivers a wider and deeper service than its title would suggest, bordering on a Citizens' Advice Bureau! Thank you so much for your help and for the high-quality free maps and guides :-)

Situated in Boscawen Street, Al.oxst opposite the war memorial. Has an arrayy of pamphlets of local interest, together with slim volumes of wider Interest. There are local crafts, postcards as well

Wonderful helpful staff. Highly recommended for Cape Cod visitors. By far Truro has the best light house and great spots to visit. Thank you for your advice. See you next summer!

I attended Bert Biscoe's Guided walk around Truro. It was incredibly fascinating and I couldn’t believe how much history the town held. Mr Biscoe has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm over Truro past and present. I would highly recommend this, whether you are local or visiting, it is a beautiful way to explore. It was a pleasure to meet you and a delight of a morning.

Wonderful staff and great stock. We had a terrific tour of the town with Bert organised by the Tourist Centre. It has encouraged us to return to Truro

Chain retailer selling home, garden & leisure products, including furniture & kitchen equipment.
Set back off the road it’s easy to miss the turning and drive straight past, which I’ve done a couple of times 🤣 The Range is one of my wife’s go to places for pictures and frames. And today was no exception as she found three pictures to go in various rooms. For all your Halloween & Christmas take the lift or elevator to the first floor, it’s rammed with bits n bobs 🙂 Not one for following my wife around like a lost sheep, I went upstairs and enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and biscuit in the cafe that is always clean and tidy, unlike some of the aisles that were full of goods waiting to be put on shelves. You’ll be pleased to know there is adequate onsite parking, which Free for the first 2hrs, thereafter there’s a charge!

The Range has almost everything you need. Gardening, cooking, soft furnishings etc. I bought a six chaired garden set in the clearance( six high backed chairs with cushions, massive round table with glass cover). It should have been £599 but was £299. Only 2 screws missing which I had at home.

Nice retail outlet that covers a great range of items from DIY category to household and food stuff. I’m not sure but it seems to have absolve a part of Wilko and is also in collaboration with Iceland. The prices of items are also competitive.
Oghenehero B — Google review
Good store for all sorts of household items, pictures, mirrors, lamps, diy, electrical, tools, curtains, cushions, furniture, gardening equipment, garden furniture. really helpful staff and the prices are very reasonable. There is also a cafe but we haven’t tried that as it wasn’t open when we’ve been in. There is plenty of parking too.

Has the smallest range I've been in. I found it to be very useful and the staff to be very friendly and helpful, especially being dog friendly now. I do miss the calf as it was surprisingly good.

Ordered a pick up order. Staff very friendly and helpful. Just be careful when parking as you only have so long free

Purchased reduced bedding tonight and the staff on shift could have not been more helpful. Such lovely customer service

Wide range of household items available plus large Christmas section when visited. Shop is huge and you could spend hours looking at the items for sale all at reasonable prices.

Whistlefish Truro is a charming shop that offers an extensive selection of cards and prints for various occasions. From kids' birthdays to milestone celebrations, Christmas, condolences, thank-yous, and more, they have it all. The store is known for its beautiful designs and environmentally friendly approach with their plastic-free Christmas cards. While some customers find the cushion collection lacking, the paintings are highly praised for their attractiveness.
I find the shop clean, attractive ad interesting. It is good value with quality cards. I don't like the cushions much. However, the paintings are very attractive. I wish they did not insist on you paying by card, they take no cash whatsoever.
CHERRY A — Google review
Popped in to buy a Birthday card last week costing £2, and to be told ‘Sorry, we only accept card payments’. Whistlefish - I decide when my banking cards come out of my wallet, not you. As a consequence you lost a sale and I will now be buying my Christmas cards elsewhere.. According to other reviews I am not the only dissatisfied customer in regards to card only payments. It felt quite discriminating.
John A — Google review
Very helpful member of staff searched out a particular type of card. Currently offering 12 cards for £10 so they are great value as well as being lovely.
David H — Google review
Amazing cards, beautiful prints and designs for every occasion with empty inside so you can fill with your own words. Kids birthdays up to 12, teen birthdays up to 17, then all prominent birthdays eg; 18,21,30,40 etc. Everything is there literally birthdays, christmas, mourning deaths, thank you’s, holidays, mother’s day, grandmas great, anniversary, awesome uncle bla bla bla-bla-bla. Better, the christmas cards are now naked (aka plastic free) to save the environment. I buy ALL my cards for birthdays and christmas and one for my parents in July and even get a free tin I buy so many and that does me for the whole year! Great shop 👌😄
Alice S — Google review
I am a loyal fan of this store. Love its products. Only thing that niggles is it's a card only payment ! Understand reasons why but just stops some purchases
Elizabeth W — Google review
Simply a delightful shop. Unique birthday and Christmas cards on sale, very different to main stream shops. Love it😍.

Nice items in store but the woman owner is pure evil, she moaned heavily at a staff member for wanting time off to go to a perants funeral ......she was heard saying "oh fine take time out but wheres the money coming from?"
Hugo S — Google review
Very pleasant nice selection of cards and pictures. Love popping in to stock up.

Cornish Mars is an absolutely breathtaking region in Cornwall, rich with historical significance and offering a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Beautiful place to wander around. Take the cycles to the main area for some fun! The motorcycles riding around do kinda spoil it somewhat due to noise and almost knocking you down
Natalie M — Google review
Lovely place to have a mini adventure and explore. We particularly loved the mars colours the landscape has to offer.
