The 50 best spots for macarons in Montreal

When I went there, there were two lines: one for people eating on the premises and another line to pickup your food. I was alone waiting in the pickup line for 10 mins and had to go and approach a wait staff myself in order to be served, whereas everyone who arrived after me would be served by the wait staff in the other line. At those prices and such reputation, with so many employees, well....better is to be expected from them. As for the cakes, they were Ok. Nothing to write home about (just generic tasting patisseries that look good, but that are not that special as far as flavours are concerned ). I had better French patisseries in Montreal.

In my opinion it is exquisite pastry. I really can't fault them. Not even when I dined in and had a club sandwich with a perfectly dressed salad that had lettuce so delicate it was a degree away from melting in your mouth. (Can you tell I went more than once on a weekend away trip?). Even their to-go box is fancy, such that I had people dying of curiosity to know what was inside on my flight home. It only made it worst for them when they found out because now we were on a flight out of Montreal at the terminal and you could see them putting in the balance potentially postponing their flight for a day. I really can't exaggerate the pastries. I do fault them on the macaroons. I had a bite of the coconut flavored one and I spat it out. Tasted like butter. That was the one and only that I purchased and didn't give it a second try, I was put off too much.

Pretty French Bakery is nestled in the heart of view Montreal. Fresh baked goods croissants, pastries, macaroons are well crafted by the chefs. Illy coffee and cappuccino compliments the nicely. Breakfast menu is only available on the weekends.

I visited this cafe in several several times!! Desserts and cakes are perfect! But it is actually overpriced. It’s 8.5 dollars per table. And we have been charged for 16 dollars (3 ppl) it’s some kind of service fee. But it tastes really really really awesome!!!

Came for a quick lunch on a weekday. Friendly service, great food, and no rush to finish on a cold afternoon. Some bakery items had sold out, and we were told coming back earlier (8am or so) would get us an almond crossaint.

We went here for brunch and pastries on Sunday morning. They have two lines that you can wait to be seated or wait to buy pastries front the display. I had the hot chocolate which was rich and deep and well presented. I also had the Brunch special which consists of a few choices. I went with the smoked salmon eggs benedict which was a savory dish delight. It was served with fresh fruit, and an amazing slice of French brioche toast alongside mouthwatering melted carmel sauce instead of traditional maple syrup. And if that wasn't enough, I had a canelè which was not too sweet, and a chewy composition, with an apricot taste - different than what I'm used to so it was "okay" IMO. The one star knock is because our food did get served cold because the chef burned herself and had to remake a plate and the staff seem overworked or busy. :(

Lots of yelpers recommend Maison Christian Faure for bakery and cakes. As it is just steps away from my hotel, I decided to give it a try. I am not a fan of sandwich, so this review is not bias at all. We ordered a smoke salmon sandwich and Millie feuille tradition (cake) for our lunch. The portion of the sandwich is kinda small, but comes with lots of chips to fill you up. As a person who don't like sandwich, my first impression was "meh". However, after the first bite, it turns my impression to "wow". The sandwich is so good. Also the cake is impressive, love the overall texture of the cake. I would probably be back for the cake for dessert, the sandwich is great, but small portion.

The Best fresh and Tasty macarons in Montreal. Ive had this Since 2016, they have so many flavours to choose from.. they’ve got the best cream cheese macarons. Not too sweet.

The macarons are perfect! They're so flavorful and the flavor develops in your mouth. The texture is incredible too: a chewy interior with a slightly harder shell. I was craving macarons and this really hit the spot. Plus, the lady at the counter was really friendly. I will definitely be coming back for more :)

I hadn't been in a few years but their deal of 1$ per macaron was just too good to ignore. The light and airy little bites of fresh melt-in-your mouth goodness were a great treat (and were consumed very quickly because they're not very filling) While all of them were delicious some flavours (such as Red Velvet, Chocolate and Raspberry) were really amazing. Maybe we won't let 4 years pass before we go again this time 😅

A beautiful shop. I have been here often and the service is superb, the staff have always been friendly. The best deal for macarons is the box of 24 for 38 and there is a wide variety to choose from. Its a little walk from the metro Mont royal but this time of the year, the lights are so so pretty. Perfect for a gift or to bring as a snack/dessert for loved ones.

Stellar boutique bakery shop in the Mont-Royal District that specializes in unique macaroon flavours, with reasonable prices compared to similar specialty shoppes in Toronto. The pistachio, in particular, had such a strong pistachio flavour complementing the pastry, and is wonderfully not too sweet (in all the best ways that we can mean this!), with a soft and creamy texture. Supremely friendly service staff even during a busy day. We did not come in expecting to make this one of our new 'must-go' destinations in Montreal, but now can't imagine us coming to the city without making a stop to pick up a box. Bonus: the containers they sell their macaroons in are very well designed to protect the macaroons from being crushed or damaged. Buy with trust that they will be brought back unharmed from your trek here!

My mom loves this bakery, so I imagine that some of their desserts must be done well, however, these macarons were unacceptable. I wouldn’t give these macarons away for free, let alone sell them in my dessert shop. The cookie itself didn’t bake well & the cream inside is curdled. My mom doesn’t know much about macarons so she didn’t realize, but the store should have known better than to even sell these to her.

Quaint café. Feels like a doll house. Love it. I ordered a bday cake, sent them the model as shown here and the owner Vanessa was up for the challenge. My kind of business, the type that doesn’t shy away from novelty. The result was mitigated however. Some guests liked the cake. Some noted too many buttery layers which made it too sweet. I personally loved the texture and the raspberry perfume but I set aside the layers. Had it been one layer, it would have been perfect. Jessica had confirmed by email that the cake would be ready on given day and when I asked What color will be the hair, clothes etc..., I got no answer. I also did not know it would be a high cake quite different from photo. That is a lesson for me to confirm every detail! Nice job regardless.

The brownies I ordered were too sweet from my liking. But the place is cute. They have dog treats too.

We were attracted by the exterior decor and once inside we realized it gets better. So many things we would love the purchase including prayer style candles with pop stars or celebrities on them which we loved. Apart from the beautiful and elaborate interior we enjoyed some magnificent, homemade tasting macarons in various delicious flavours and French toast latte, yes read that again, it's as good as it sounds. We also couldn't help but get the cookie adorned with lucky charms which was too  if to finish but still wonderful.

A place for ppl who fancy chocolate. They have a variety of brownies, jars, and other treats ready for takeaway. There is a place to sit and enjoy a bigger menu with lots of options with crepes, waffles, and drinks. They do have some savory options as well You need to love chocolate really a lot to enjoy these treats. The service is okay, but the ambience is pretty good. The prices are slightly higher.

Cute place for a dessert stop. They were able to accommodate a party of 9 for us very quickly. They majority of their menu is dessert based but they do offer a few savoury options. I was hoping to try their new milkshakes/puff pastry however it wasn’t available that day.

Oh this is a good one. The desserts are exquisite! The caramel brownie is epic and would recommend anytime. Also their cookies are so big and delicious! The brownies came with a caramel sauce which is neat. They accept cash and card. Definitely try it!

We tried it for the first time on our 3 days visit to Montreal. It was totally worth it, amazing desserts and shakes. They had some salads as well which we didn’t try. The desserts were so intriguing that we had no space for anything after. The shakes weren’t too sweet and tasted great as well. Over all It’s a must try for everyone with a sweet tooth!!

Service is a bit slow but SO worth the wait. The desert here are absolutely decadent stylish and unique. It's a whole experience and worth every single Cent. I recently visited this branch and I will always give it a five stars for the quality of hospitality and food. The most delicious treats, cakes, and chocolate I have ever tasted. The service also is a five stars.

Staff is very young but they try very hard to make customers happy and satisfied. They have 3 menus. Not sure why but eventually we got what we wanted. Parking is tough around there, specifically late in the day. I was surprised how great the coffee was. Will try to go there again soon.

Good bakery. Cute packaging. Not sure if the mini cardboard logo was necessary, I would of have a whole other opinion if that would have been chocolate. The macarons were tasty and big but some tasted a little bit old. The prices are somewhat reasonable. Overall a nice experience.

Had 2 hours to grab pasteries for a corporate event and Les gourmandies de Marie-Antoinette were so on point with everything! Within 20 mins, the cake was written on, macaroons and petits choux were boxed and all the French pastries were ready to be eaten! Im proud to say that all 20 people present only had good comments about the delicious desserts.

I just love their different flavored cream puffs! They also have gluten free dessert options which is a must in our family. My favorite pastry shop by far!

I visited today to inquire about ordering birthday cakes. The clerk was friendly and helpful and gave a great service. I also ordered lime cake (to try prior to ordering the birthday cake) and chouquette. The lime cake had a various layers of different flavours but the lime flavour was unfortunately over-powering. Sadly, I did not taste the white chocolate, although it has a great texture. The chouquette were good but I would not say it's the best I had. I would have preferred that they would be more "crispy". Overall, good value and a cute place.

The self-serve concept could definitely feel a bit impersonal, however the staff are very friendly and always happy to help with your order. You can warm up your breads on-site as well - the breads are baked fresh. The espresso drinks aren't bad either. Worth stopping by to try if you're in the area!

The ambiance, design and architecture of this place is top. Really clean, sleek, and modern. They have plenty of bread and dessert options and some frozen also. The chocolatine I ordered from here was so deliciously buttery!

After the renovations, the changes are more than architectural. What was once my main place for exercising my spoken French (ordering and chatting with the young and kind staff) is now self-serve with an app, scan the product and checkout with Google pay. Of all the places to go this route, Mamie Clafoutis is the last one I expected. Otherwise it is the same great baked goods and variety... with one exception - the ficelles with blue cheese and walnuts are now refrigerated (I am afraid, this change I literally cannot swallow...)

The bread quality is amazing. You've got other options to bake at home or just for a sweet snack. You also have options to drink: latte, cappuccino, etc. It's such a shame that there's only a small space to sit.

The staff was friendly and the pastries are good. Our visit was disappointing because we were expecting tables and space to eat indoors. There are several boxed sandwiches & desserts too but we were expecting a fresher feel all around.

Very disappointed about my latest experience. Long time client and first time doing a pickup. Was a nice Sunny day and we wanted to eat outside.. we spent 100$ and for our surprise the bags had no napkins and no chopsticks.. we came back and ask for it and was not given. Wow! Sorry, but as a business owner as well this is very surprising attitude.

First time here - wonderful experience. Restaurant is very quaint. Had the omakase menu for two. Great variety of dishes and great quality. Some of the best sushi I’ve had. Sushi pizza is a must!

Delicious and fresh food, the service was incredibly quick and the decor is very maximalist but cute and cozy. I really recommend this place! It's quite small so make sure you have a reservation to not have to wait outside.

The food is very fresh, they have a great tasting menu it looks a bit small on paper but it was actually pretty good portions and we were pretty full just ordered an extra miso soup that was absolutely delicious. Make sure to reserve as they are very busy most days. They also do take out.

The dishes are always very fresh and of top quality and never disappointing. However, the staff could improve their customer service. They seem annoyed by our presence and can be quite brusque when serving the table. Improving the service would make the overall experience much better.

I went here for my anniversary and absolutely LOVED IT! and as sushi goes it was pretty affordable compared to other sushi places of this quality. over all the staff was lovely, the food was excellent, and the price was fair. Highly recommend!

We were travelling on our daughters birthday - we stopped in to buy some cupcakes for her and they were so kind - there were birthday candles and they let us light them in the store for her to blow out. Thankyou for the delicious cupcakes and the very memorable experience !

Love the mini cupcakes here. The size is perfect. I really enjoy the box of mix assortment. Moka and Salted Caramel flavour is my favourite.

Lots of different varieties of cupcakes. The one we had - the salted caramel and cream was great as it was not too heavy on the cream, but instead just right. The base of the cupcake was fluffy and soft. They also have a variety of icecreams. The choco orange seems to be popular as I was able to get the last order. Tasted pretty good too.

Was looking for a cupcake place and came across this store via Google. For 6 cupcakes, the cost was around $27. The lady in the store was polite but the cupcakes looked like they had been sitting out for a while and the decorations looked a little sloppy. Still decided to give it a try. What a disappointment. We found hair on two of the 6 cupcakes and had to toss those out. The other cupcakes were so dry they had to be at least 2 days old. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience here. Will not be going back.

These cupcakes are so good! I stop by the shop in Old Port every chance I get, and when I'm in the area. They have many great flavors and I've had amazing service every time. They also offer a small cupboard handle if you need to carry your cupcakes home 🧁

Reviewing the croissant and the atmosphere only: Croissant lacked cooking time in my opinion. It was barely browned on top and lacked the crunchy I'd be looking for. Tasted good otherwise but texture was not there for me. Very good atmosphere to get coffee/brunch with an old friend to catch up. I would come back to try their sandwiches and other pastries.

We went here a few days ago and we liked their pastry and breads. I can say we liked it and not loved it as I’ve had better ones before so I give it 4 stars. The sandwich was delicious and I saw them cutting good provolone cheese at the kitchen, so i would say the material quality was good too. I would be happier if the sandwich was cheaper. My wife got a creme pistachio pastry she loved. I also got a olive and tomato bread that was awful! 😖

We ordered a sandwich of jambon beurre, a sandwich dejuner, a cream puff, hot chocolate and cafe latte. A sandwich was really good. I liked it. The cafe latte and hot chocolate were too light for me. The cream puff was filled of cream. The cream was also too light.

On a rather quiet road with a warm atmosphere and good pastries. I loved the pistachio éclair, but unfortunately didn't get anything else. They serve matcha, coffee, bread and sandwiches. On the side they have a little fridge for canned drinks like Loop.

Superb ambience and they had some great options for sandwiches and bakery items. Their avacado toast was amazing but the eclairs I felt were a tad bit too sweet for my liking. But overall amazing experience. Worth visiting atleast once when you are in Montreal.

Went for a quick bite on Boxing day. Very little choices as items still being cooked. Selected a Coconut custard bun and a Sesame Ball. Review is on Sesame Ball. The pastry could have been cooked a minute or two longer as the filling was still slightly cold inside. I have had better elsewhere.

You can never go wrong with a good ol' traditional Chinese bakery! This lovely little Chinatown spot features a wide selection of Chinese breads and pastries, all displayed in little self-serve cases. I dropped by around 6 PM, so I was expecting the selection to be pretty sparse and/or stale, but I was quite impressed by (1) the quality and freshness of the remaining bread, (2) the number of options still available, and (3) the number of people who managed to cram into this tiny space. The evening seems to be prime Chinese bakery hour, and it looked like folks were stocking up on desserts for the night and/or breakfast for the next morning. And I can't blame them - the buns all looked absolutely gorgeous. I ended up grabbing a green tea and red bean bun. The bread was super soft and moist, and it was the most beautiful forest green colour. I can't say that I could really taste the green tea, so I imagine most of it was just in the appearance. There was a good amount of red bean filling, and I appreciated that it was subtly sweet...all-around, it was the perfect late afternoon / early afternoon snack after a long day of exploring Montreal.

Nice little pastries to try out in Chinatown. I'm usually not really into these kind of dessert, but those here are really good. There are different kind of pastries to try, either hot or cold, and it really depends on your current taste. For instance, egg tarts are good. They used to have more choice, but it looks like they cut down a bit on what they do. I would recommend, but only if you pass by. It's not worth a detour for.

Delicious sweet buns with a clean, easy service method. Self selection is nice and staff provides easy checkout. The buns are fresh, soft, and tasty. Great selection of options. We tried the curry beef and chocolate filled- yum! Great prices, great food, great service!

Compared to the Chinese bakeries from Vancouver (even at $0.75-$1) more per piece, this is by far the best buns I've ever had (these buns are to the left hand side of the store). There's an abundant filling in every bun and they all taste delicious!! Will definitely need to make another stop before moving on to Quebec City. 5/5 Now, moving on to the right hand side of the store where they sell bubble tea, my daughter ordered a fresh mango and melon slushy, and it was more melon than anything and it didn't stay slushy. It was pure juice after 5 mins. This was a disappointment. 2/5 stars

Amazing Pastries!! Tried few Custard, Almond, Coconut sweet flavors and chicken bun. We went two times back to back to buy more. Reasonable prices. Most of the food is around $2 each. Highly recommend this place for Pastries. Fast services and friendly staff!

Amazing selection of breads and other baked goodies! They have almost everything you can think of, from the classic pastries and breads to some remarkably innovative combinations. I was incredibly tempted by everything in the display case -- especially since the bakery smells like butter and sugar -- but eventually settled on their white chocolate brioche. The chocolate is mixed into the batter to give the entire roll a slightly sweet flavor, which is delightful when paired with the already soft, pillowy, and buttery brioche. I can't wait to go back and try more of their selection!

Came here as part of a food tour and my only disappointment was we couldn’t buy more foods to sample (without taking arms full of breads and pastries home!). We ended up ordering some items to our Airbnb before we left Montreal this morning because our food tour ended late and we couldn’t go back to purchase anything else! What we did eat on the tour was delicious though! The Champignon chocolate blanc et vanille was absolutely divine. Would absolutely recommend getting one if you are nearby and also trying a few other things. Please be advised the bakery has moved just down the street but it’s well posted on the old building :) We will definitely be back next time we are in Montreal!

I absolutely love Guillaume Bakery! I went there with my nieces, and they became obsessed with the pastries. I also grabbed some croissants for my husband, and he’s super picky about croissants, but these are his absolute favorite! Their sourdough bread with dates is my absolute favorite. We literally finished the loaf in one day—it was that good. We keep coming back because everything is consistently delicious, and it’s become my go-to bakery. Sometimes I order from Uber Eats when I can’t make it there in person. I can’t recommend them enough!

Delicious, fresh, made daily pastry/bake shop. Unfortunately they just have outdoor seating and just two picnic tables, but they have lots of bread options from brioche to blueberry tarts, to croissants, to cinnamon bread, multigrain bread, baguettes, and more and more and more! Don't be confused. There is one entrance for the bakery and another couple doors down for the actual kitchen where they bake. Guy said it happens often.

Cheese croissant is just amazing here, white chocolate and vanilla mushroom too. They even have many types of sourdough and everything is freshly baked. Their olive ciabatta bread is just delicious. I visited the place many times and I got a very good service from the staff. I would really appreciate it. They recently released a new thing called browkie I guess brownie+cookie which is interesting. I definitely recommend this place if you love traditional sourdough and baguette.

There’s a lot of great spots in the Mile End but there’s something very special about Guillaume. Everything I’ve tried here is amazing quality, and prices are great too. The Queen Elizabeth cake is unbelievable. 🔥

Phenomenal boulangerie and clearly worthy of winning the people's choice award for the best butter croissant in Montreal! The croissants are massive and quite dense, but also extremely flaky and airy -- how they managed to strike such an impressive balance is beyond my understanding. They're remarkably buttery and rich, and perfect for a quick, delicious breakfast on the go. It's a bit entertaining that they chose the crescent shape for their butter croissant (breaking French tradition), but the croissants are beautiful. The space is a bit small and crowded, so it's pretty hard to find a seat. However, most people pop in and out quite quickly, so you usually don't have to wait too long to snag a table.

Tried this place for the first time and it was incroyable!! The croissants were unbelievably fresh and light (despite their size!), so addictive. The chocolatine and butter croissant is the best I’ve had in my life and worth the higher price. Service was very kind and helpful. I can’t wait to come back again.

The place is impressive and the pastries looked divine, so I was looking forward to trying their apple raspberry turnover. Unfortunately what a disappointment! Very flaky on the outside and huge in size, but almost no filling. I actually tore it apart to see what was in it, and all it had, was a thin layer of apple sauce. It wasn't even pink from the raspberries because there were none. You would never get away with that in the Plateau! I threw it out. Now I don't feel like going back again.

We went here quite a lot during our month in Montreal. We would often pick up a treat for our daily tea and found them consistently delicious. My daughter came for her birthday and chose the lemon cake for her special day. She loved it!

Took a chocolatine and croissants aux amandes. When reheated, the chocolatine was nice and crunchy, but the croissant aux amandes was a little bit of a disaster. It’s not nicely presented with the way the almond cream and almonds are on it, it was soaking wet with syrup, and there’s a bit of an artificial taste. Service wise at The viennoiserie counter was very friendly, but not at the cash. There was the main cashier and her two friends talking the entire time and giving me an odd look during some pauses. It was quite odd of an encounter.

The place is very clean and nice. The stuff friendly and polite. The sandwishes excellent. For my Chocolat and rasberie croissant I was a little bit disepointed as the chocolat was non existant, only the lines on the outside. Will I go back. 100%. There are so many more items I want to test. Thank you.

I guess it’s fair enough for me to say it’s eight dollar. ]I like the packaging which was really cute. I bought one croissant and the coffret dégustation de bûche. I enjoyed the croissant a lot, probably one of the best croissant in Montreal. It was very crispy on the outside and tender, but slightly chewy inside. I didn’t even need to heat it up. On the other hand, the cakes were average and a bit pricey ( around 8 dollar for a small piece). The taste was not bad, I just thought the colorant in the Macaron not necessary. The icing on the raspberry one was not evenly spread. But overall, I would come again for their croissant.

Had some friends pick up some pastries for a get together. The cannolis were delicious and not soggy. The shells were still crispy even a day later. The pistachio Sfogliatella were excellent. The layers were crispy on the outside but tender inside. A real treat and definitely recommended. Will be back.

The Granita al Limone was super refreshing, rich in taste, not overly sugary, and served in a very generous portion. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the shop offers so many options, birthday cakes, wedding cakes, a variety of cannolis (pistachio, Nutella, Oreo, and of course the classic), as well as a wide selection of cookies. It’s a truly authentic Italian pastry shop with a warm atmosphere and delicious treats.

First time trying out this little gem , it was my wife birthday and this bakery was recommanded. It was delicious , we had the Almond cake and a few small cakes. Definitely worth it!

Pasticceria Alati-Caserta has an incredible variety of pastries to choose from. We tried the tiramisu and the cannoli as they were recommended to us and both were good. A true classic spot that lives up to its reputation.

After living in Montreal for a decade and trying countless bakeries, I can honestly say this is the gold standard for Italian pastries in the city. The cannoli here are out of this world-crispy shells, filled to order with the creamiest ricotta filling (not too sweet, just right). I’ve brought friends from Italy, and even they were impressed! I also recommend trying their sfogliatelle and marzipan cookies-everything is made fresh and you can truly taste the quality. If you’re celebrating something special, their custom cakes are beautifully made and always a hit. The shop itself is charming and feels like stepping into a little corner of Naples. It can get busy, especially on weekends or around holidays, so be prepared for a bit of a line. But honestly, it’s worth the wait. The staff is friendly and will happily help you choose if you’re not sure what to try. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian desserts or wants to experience a true Montreal classic.

Holy moly! I asked her for something with lots of chocolate in it, and this does not disappoint. This is the richest, densest dessert that I have ever eaten. The chocolate is so thick that the plastic spoon was bending. They did not overdo it on the sweetness either. The texture is like a truffle all of the way through, and even the crust is a nice chocolatey crumble. It’s the perfect energy boost to eat in the middle of a 70km Bixi tour.

Very good selection of baked goods. The Babka is very well made but you need to get there early to get one as they fly off the shelves. Good coffee, the staff does a very good job and is always courteous and friendly. One of my go-to stops whenever I am in Montreal.

Best oatmeal cookies in Montreal and their baguettes are amazing! This hidden little bakery on the Plateau makes exquisite pastries with a friendly smile, and I’m happy to see that it’s become very popular recently for coffee or lunch, which is well deserved. Try their white “milk” bread!

Best croissant in Montreal!! Buttery, crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. Can’t have enough of it! You have to go early in the morning… they sold out so quickly! It took me few visits to be able to get the croissant. Enjoy! 🥐

I believe I got the ricotta & zaatar pastry which was DIVINE. I’ve gotten bread here too and it’s always been great. The coffee, however, isn’t the greatest but definitely come here for the food!

I enjoyed the coffee so much! It’s been a while since I had a latte with acidity. Milk foam on top and latte art was perfect. The cafe smelled of fresh bread! I tried the baguette, croissant, and a few pastries; they were good overall. I had hoped the croissant would be a bit more crunchy, but the overall experience was nice with friendly staff. A local classic and no frills spot that will always have a line up because it’s damn good! Dishes are delicious, seating is limited. BUT don’t get their regular coffee - two thumbs down on that weird watery one - sorry.

!!BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I was going to go buy some food with my mother and she said “hi where can we order”. She said it 2 times since the employees didn’t seem to hear. An employee named Anais mockingly said “hi you can order right here” with a rude tone and raising her voice. My mom said “ I said hi, no need to be rude” And then she left thinking she was a confident and good employee? We went to the cash and the cashier Elise didn’t seem to care until my mom said she was going to go speak to the manager. The cashier then started being very polite. When my mom went to talk to the assistant manager Chloe, she said she understood and just dismissed it. Anais didn’t seem to care that we put a complaint, she was acting very disrespectful. We left right after. Honestly, horrible customer service I wouldn’t recommend this place. If I could put zero for service I definitely would. Never in my life have my mom or me ever had been served like this or needed to write a review.

I came to purchase a freshly baked bread, ideally a whole wheat one. I was happy to find such, and was also to see that they have got a slicing machine. The disappointing part is the ridiculous size of the bread. For a similar price ($6.75), I do get a significant larger whole wheat bread. The taste of the bread is fine.

I’ve been coming to this café almost every week for several months now with my son, and it’s become our little ritual. We often order a hot chocolate, and the waitresses always make sure it’s not too hot for him. The tarts are definitely worth trying! The atmosphere and quality of service make every visit a pleasant experience. Everyone is always welcoming, attentive, and smiling. It’s a cozy place where I feel right at home. My only small complaint would be that the ordering areas could be more clearly indicated, as it’s not very intuitive and people can easily get confused.

They have very good sandwiches and croissants. They have a good selection of desserts that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I had a good experience. However I was disappointed with the little choices of salads.

I had them for the first time yesterday at my niece's birthday party. I've read that some people find them the "Best" in town.... to each their own. I've had better. Everyone's experience is different. I appreciate the attempt in making different flavors. I tried the lemon meringue. The filling tasted artificial and had a strange aftertaste, plus I could taste the oil with every bite, I had to throw it out. I tried another with chocolate and meringue on top. No filling. It was slightly better just because the chocolate masked the taste of the oil a bit. They look pretty though. I'm not sure from which location they were bought from, but I certainly did not enjoy them, and unfortunately this is my first and last time trying them.

I’ve always loved their donuts, but my last visit really left a bad taste in my mouth. A few weeks ago, I stopped by the café and walked up to the counter only to be completely ignored for a full seven minutes. There was no one in line; the previous customer had already paid and sat down. I understand being busy, but basic customer service isn’t that hard. As a paying customer, a simple acknowledgment goes a long way. The cashier, who had light colored hair and glasses, didn’t greet me or even say “I’ll be with you in a minute.” She just continued packing orders without a word. None of the other employees said anything either they all avoided eye contact. Out of frustration, I even pulled out my phone and timed how long it would take for someone to acknowledge me. Only after finishing the previous order did the cashier finally speak to me. If you can’t show basic manners or respect toward customers, you shouldn’t be working in customer service. There are plenty of people who would happily do that job with a better attitude. The owners should know their staff’s behavior is driving away loyal customers. I’ve been coming here for a long time, but after this experience, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

My sister recommended this spot for some awesome donuts. We went on Easter Sunday at 1pm so they didn’t have much of anything left but the donuts we got were delicious. The donuts are chewy and have an old fashion taste that takes me back to the 80’s. The young woman at the counter was not very welcoming or helpful at all and was just there to put the donuts in the box and take our money. Customer service was not impressive at all but donuts was the point of the visit. Definitely a great little spot for a meet and greet and a good donut.

Best doughnuts in Montreal! The raspberry assortments are my favourite! I love the coffee, salads, soups and sandwiches too! I would like it if they served a full menu with other options on the weekends too. Prices for soup can be a bit high in my opinion

The donuts were fresh and delicious. I had a donut connoisseur visiting me and she said these were the “best donuts” she had ever had and that she “could taste the effort put into making the donuts.” The staff were helpful and friendly.

Donuts are donuts but these are something else. Their passion fruit donut is really good. It has a unique passion fruit glaze. Today it felt a bit too greasy but like i said: donuts are donuts You better get there early because they won’t have much options left if you get there in the pm. It’s on me but I was there a bit late and they were preparing a donut box and they seemed a bit annoyed at my being there near close time. Service was a little formal imo but it was ok. It’s a little tough to fit going there in your schedule, you have to plan ahead. On an other note, the ambiance is nice, the decor is too, it’s simple but they have a few design statement items. The rest of the furniture is either simple and straight and simple or victorian. I’ll try to go there a little earlier next time and hangout, will keep y’all posted! You can tell that these people have taste, they’re also providing foccacio for the restaurant nextdoor which i’m looking forward to try!

I can only comment on their Galette des Rois (apple and caramel). It was okay, but I wouldn’t try it again. Especially considering the price, the quality/taste didn’t match! Overall, the open visible kitchen looks very nice and clean, and the French-inspired design is quite nice and inviting. The breads and pastries looked great (not tried them), but I can’t recommend the Galette des Rois that we tried!

Bread and pastries are amazing. Their croissants are probably the best in Montreal HOWEVER the place is dirty every single time I’ve visited. I can never find a clean table to sit and enjoy my chocolatine. That’s just too bad for a bakery that offers such good quality products. I don’t care about the lack of decor but a decent place to sit would be nice

I am not here to rate the food. Instead, I am writing about an unfortunate accident that happened while exiting the cafe. There’s a small step just before reaching the main door. I didn’t see it so lost my balance, partially fell & twisted my ancle. Staff said there’s a warning message placed on the inside glass door. However, the door was wide open so when leaving you won’t see it. I was told several clients have complained about the same issue but apparently nothing extra has been done. The shop needs to place a sticker saying “Watch your Step” on the floor for more visibility.. is that very hard to do so????

Decided to try out the local places in the neighborhood and found this one. I liked the environment and the service, however the croissant and the latte I had were disappointing. I probably did not get a croissant from a fresh batch so I will have to come back another time since it was a bit dry

Came to Montreal in search of the very best chocolatine aux amandes. Fred’s was very underwhelming, but still tasty. Also had a nice raspberry pastry with custard.

We went to Fous Desserts for "La semaine du Japon" to try the Japanese desserts. We tried the Flan Matcha and Chouchou Kinako. They were good, but it's not something I would try again. The pastries were not too sugary, but the bean paste kinda put me off from it. However, we then ordered a Mille-feuilles. Well, that was amazing. The custard was so good. It was crispy and flaky.

Perfect place to visit for that morning pastrie/coffee. I have been to a lot of places and sampled their croissants, and this place is a top 5 location in my mind. I always go out of my way to visit. They also have some regular and Asian flavors for ice cream. The Black sesame is always a must, and somtimes they even have Houjicha. Ps. Staff deserve a huge Christmas Bonus! 😉

Came here specifically for the Religeuse and it did not disappoint. I love the texture and the flavour. The outer shell is firm with a bit of a crunch to keep the inner cream from sogging up the dessert. I love the burnt sugar on top and that there is real vanilla extract in the cream. The dessert was not overly sweet or heavy. I would definitely get it again.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a coffee shop. Next door had a weird getting but here was super friendly and helpful. The lady let me try some of their ice creams and the black sesame was so good. The matcha and hojicha you can tell have really tea powder in them. I ordered a chai which they make fresh and is in the another, slight spice side. I also ordered a shot of decaf. I thought they had wifi but they do not so I couldn't work here. They also sell chocolate and pastries which looked and smelled really good.

Great selection of warm drinks. I had the chance to try their hojicha latte with soy milk. They have many vegetarian friendly desserts from macha-almond croissants to yuzu flavored chocolates, Unfortunately apart from drinks and a small selection of sorbets, there weren't any plant-based pastries or cakes. Nonetheless, it's a pretty unique fusion (Japanese-French) to see for a bakery.

Probably the tastiest Croissant ever and the black sesame gelato is unique and nice. Hidden gem.

We had one of the best croissants of our lives here. It was so good that on our way back from Quebec City, we stopped by again and even planned our trip so we could have breakfast here once more.

2.5/5 As a long time visitor it pains me to say that my last handful of visits to Le Pain dans les Voiles have been disappointing. The fluffy, crisp and delightful pastries that I knew and loved are no more. Instead they have been dry, hard and often bland to the taste. The coffee is still excellent, but I fear I have eaten my last danish at this establishment. I will keep telling myself that it is better to have loved and lost, than to never have known love at all. But this loss is spectacular in its intensity. I can only hope that they will have "wind in the sails" once again, so that our affair may be rekindled.

Update: 2024. I tried this place again and enjoyed some other bread selections which were very good. The service was very pleasant as well. Here's my past review from 2 years ago: I really wanted to give top ratings to this popular bakery, however, I found what I bought a little disappointing. The vienoisseries had very little of the croissant-like texture that I look for. The raisin bread, although well baked, tasted bland. Unfortunately, I will be moving on to other bakeries. It's really too bad, because, the employees were absolutely welcoming and pleasant.

Super cute place! They have a fresh menu and I tried the pesto salad as well as the croissant à l’érable which is a must try! The place is clean and the interior is lovely for a nice cup of coffee. The mocha is excellent! I really enjoyed it.

A simply brilliant local bakery with a lot to offer. I especially love the variety of their breads with nuts, including the one with poppy added generously, not something you find often. Check out their coffee as well, it is really nice, and as a summer special they make a fantastic affogato with Les Givrés delicious ice cream! There are as well other local goods sold here, like the flowers during the season, honey or jams. Also the employees are always sweet and helpful.

They have chocolate and framboise bread. You certainly know the combo from chocolate and raspberry right? It's yummy !! They have a terrasse in front of the shop. The hot chocolate is also good and sweet. The staff is friendly. A bit expensive compared to our expectations but it was worth it.

Nice atmosphere on Wellington. We stopped in for dessert and coffee while on a walk, the bright atmosphere drew us in. However the coffee and dessert were average. While I was not familiar with this café previously, it seems they have changed ownership and completely renovated the interior. It is beautiful inside and is a nice place to take a break.

Love this coffee shop. Its not too crowded compared to other spots on wellington street and plenty of room between the tables. The desserts menu is great and they have cute mugs. Great for studying or catching up. Staff are super kind too.

2/5 star rating is purely for the food and cleanliness of the bathroom. Service was 5/5!! Staff was extremely sweet and super considerate. Asked for my patisserie to go and had it all nicely wrapped in a box. However, coffee is extremely expensive and very mediocre. I payed 10$ for an oat milk latte that was very mid. Pastries and sandwiches are expensive but good at least. You’re paying for the atmosphere of the place. Very dainty, floral and feminine vibe to the cafe. The bathroom should be a lot cleaner especially with the expensive pricing.

Went there for a quick snack and the workers there barely greeted us. I had to try to say hi multiple times to grab her attention even though they clearly were not busy and just chatting away amongst themselves. Granted, it was at 6h30PM so they were maybe tired, but it didn’t feel nice. I bought two pastries that totalled 23$, which is pretty steep for what they are. I asked what one pastry was and she just answered “pistachio”, and kept every answer to my questions as one word replies. Anyhow, a very uninviting interaction, only to bite into a tasteless pastry that had water condensation from the fridge on it. My friend had the cheesecake and it was so thick you couldn’t actually swallow a bite. I couldn’t finish it. I would’ve been better off buying stuff at the store. The place is cute to sit at though, I’ll give them that.

I didn't want to leave a harsh review, but seeing the other comments kind of validates my experience and I think the new owners need a reality check. 7$ for an extremely mid coffee is a scam. I would tolerate the price if it was actually good, but would still find it expensive. Service is mid, it lost all of its charm with the renovation. It really just feels like the new owners thought they would become millionnaire without having to put any efforts in the quality because coffe shops that look cute are trendy.

I ordered a coffee, 1 sugar 2 milks. The server looks me in the eye and pours 3 sugars and 1 cream. Tells me to sit and wait for my pastry. 20 seconds later gives me a box at my table. There were flies. The pastry was bland. This place used to be really great. 12 dollars for a small coffee and single pastry.

Nice cafe/shop atmosphere. They bake all their pastries fresh in house. I piece a spicy decaf latte with soy milk. Really nice of them to customize my drink how they did. I think this place would be next level if they welcomed people more. Like seating, wifi, more outgoing, friendly service.

What a great bakery and they have great coffee! There are vegan options but I didn't try them. Everything we got was delicious and the service was amazing!!!!! SO nice and very cute inside! The one disappointment was I wanted to buy one of their shirts but they didn't have any available. That's literally my only complaint. This place was fantastic!

Lots of bread, sandwiches, pastries and some cold cheeses, along with pantry items like coffee beans, jams, etc. Yes, it takes a while to get my coffee sometimes but it's always good! There's only a few spots to eat inside and no patio, so mainly a take away spot. They have vegan croissants so that's always a bonus for those that need it. There's lots of choice so it's hard to choose as everything looks so good!

La fabrique Arhoma 🍞 This bakery was on my list for a long time, and I made it recently. The location is quite far from my place, yet it was totally worth visiting. I got a chocolate pecan croissant for my afternoon snack and cinnamon bread loaf for the rest of the week. The croissant was chocolatey, nutty and flakey in a beautiful way and I really enjoyed it. It was perfect sweetness for a monotonous afternoon. Their small chai latte with oat milk was also nicely done! The staff was super friendly, and the service was great and fast. This place looks like a little paradise for pastry lovers. Full of a great selection of bread and dessert pastries! They just have four or five window seats, but there was no problem for me sitting there to have their food for a bit.

The place has lots of bakery items that I have no idea what to select. In the end I choose the cheesecake since it looks different from what I eat before. I have to say that the flavor is not so amazing but it tastes good. The only complaint is that I have no seat to eat inside the place.

Such a good bakery with delicious baked options ranging from loaves of chocolate bread to almond croissants and other delights. My wife and friend and I went there in the morning to get chai lattes and pastries which we ate and drank there, then we bought more to bring back to the hotel and for our journey home.

At the entrance itself you get those festive vibes (even if it's not festival time). Open an old door, and you have a fragrance to welcome you. Ambience is lovely, welcoming staff, veriety of breads, croissants, cakes, pastries, pizzas and many more. Tried there croissants, French bread and a coffee - no regret. I'm gonna plan more visits to taste all what they serve and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Wonderful bakery in Plateau Mont Royal. Mom and Pop bakery with amazing pastries handmade and updated seasonally. Almond croissant was amazing as well. Plus the owners were extremely kind and welcoming. Cannot recommend enough!

Such a cute spot this! Went on a snowy day yearning for a croissant, and wasn't disappointed one bit. Their ham and cheese croissant and the chocolatine were both lovely, as was their service. Plus, their tables by the window are a great way to enjoy the falling snow. I'll try and be back soon : )

I passed by and went in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! I asked the nice and friendly girl at the counter what her favorite pastry was, and after her recommendation, I got the almond croissant pictured. She was right, it was very flakey and delicious and not too sweet. It quickly became my favorite almond croissant I've had in Plateau yet, it was surprisingly massive too for its price. The quality is all in the food, their place is small but they have a big heart. They also sell cheese, quiche, loafs, buns, desserts, cookies, and more.

I have been going to Afroditi for over 25 years I think. One of my favourite strawberry shortcake. Most of their cakes are amazing. At times the older ladies that works there aren’t that “friendly”. The last time I was there, the worker was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find parking spots anywhere.

A staple of park-ex, and of every birthday celebration my family has had for decades. Their tiramisu cake is my personal favourite. The individual cake slices and cookies pair nicely with a coffee in the morning, and are always a hit when I gift them to people for an occasion as well. The bakery itself is stunning and welcoming. I could honestly stay there all day.

I walked into the store around 3:40pm on September 27th to buy a cake and at first everything was fine, I chose a 45$ cake, but before anything was packed and finalized, I politely asked if I could switch cakes. Instead of simply making the change, the worker gave me horrible attitude, acting as if it was a huge inconvenience for me to change my mind. She made me feel like I was doing something wrong, like I wasn't allowed to want another cake. Everything in the store is high quality especially their cakes, but the worker was completely unprofessional even though it should've been a simple purchase.

Atmosphere -1 because they have a lot of flies/fruit flies and it was a bit annoying Service was great, employees were wonderful. Pastries look good but didn't try. Friend loved his grilled cheese and it did taste good! Presentation, meh. Avocado toast is where you lost me. Small toast. Avocado wasn't spread and fell off the toast. Barely any red onions! No egg? And the salmon didn't taste entirely fresh. Super disappointed for the price, because I can make a better one at home. And I have also seen better elsewhere. Presentation not so great. I am not closed to returning and trying other stuff. It was a very cute location and the staff was nice. The pastrie did look nice as well.

Used to be my go to pastry/dessert place. Now keep coming back for breakfast. We had croissant sandwich and traditional breakfast plate (2 eggs, bacon, potato, brioche, fruit). Matcha latte is so refreshing! Cozy place but not many seats could get crowded, in summer the nice terrace helps a lot.

Good service. Nice place. But if you’re going to sell a pre-prepared, refrigerated smoked salmon bagel for over $18 in Montreal (no sides!), it better be delicious. This one wasn’t. Plenty of better options around town.

The atmosphere was really nice outside and inside. Their cappuccinos are good and their twisted raspberry viennoiserie is amazing. I got a couple butter biscuits and you can’t go wrong with them

My first trip to Cafe Bazin. Having a mobility problem I was very pleased that there was a ramp and on leaving a staff member to help with the door, as we were inside. The staff members were all helpful and very courteous and made me feel welcome. The highlight was the Tout Choco dessert. I have never eaten anything quite so light, but satisfying, and for a chocolate lover it was one of the most amazing desserts I’ve ever eaten. I will definitely return and bring friends and family.

Cute cozy place in Westmount. The visit to the cafe left a good impression. Pastries are amazing!

You can hardly find seating for a big group at this location but the one near place des arts has a gringotts ambience (harry potter). The tigré cookie is a must. Best to skip the shakshuka cuz it’s very lack lustre and the poached egg is often over cooked.

I still very much enjoy this long standing institution which can be counted on for continued quality. The staff is always so pleasant. Every day of the week gives you one more reason to visit. Thank you for keeping up your excellence.

I visited from the Greater Toronto Area and loved this bakery tucked away around Jean-Talon Market. The baked goods for the day are posted online. I got a baguette, half a brioche, and an almond croissant. The baguette was so good that I ate it in one sitting. I regret not buying another baguette. Prices here are also cheaper than in Jean-Talon Market. Loved it and can’t wait to try more when I come back to Montreal!

Very bad croissant, bland and poorly made and rubbery, not flacky, not crispy, no butter in there. And the best one is the cashier charged me with extra money, i was on my phone i just paid without checking. I felt scammed taste and money wise.

Best bread in the city. Their olive fougasse is one of the best I’ve eaten. They use organic flour and pricing is really good much cheaper than expected for this caliber breads. There’s not a single bread that has disappointed and we’ve been going for over 5 years now.

A pretty unique place. Excellent selection of individual breads loaded with stuff (some sweet, some savory). The Mythique is excellent, so is the Choco Plaisir. The olive Fougase is always a sure bet. See the selection for that day of the week on their website (more selection as you get closer to the weekend). Make sure to bring cash (debit ok, but no credit card).

Loved this place. Le Choco-plaisir was divine, i ate it hot, cold, whatever temperature i loved it. The almond chocolatine (i’m not 100% sure what it was called but it was almond paste and chocolate) was one of the best i ever had. I was speechless eating it and i still can’t describe it now. I wish i lived near this place but whenever i’m around there i’ll have to go back.

Went in yesterday to buy some croissants and a chestnut bread loaf. Croissants are ok, the bread is good but I asked for it to be sliced and was told they don't have a bread slicer..??

This delightful little café was hailed as one of the best croissants in Montreal across multiple travel and food sites, including Reddit, everyone's favorite source of information. I was in the area, so I just had to stop by and give it a shot. Unfortunately, while the chocolate croissant was tasty, I found myself feeling a bit underwhelmed - the dough felt quite dry and almost stale, and the chocolate was hard and dry as well. The cross-section looked beautiful, with many, many layers of lamination and a beautifully crispy, golden-brown crust, but the taste and texture didn't quite measure up to the appearance. I wonder if they just happened to give me a slightly overbaked croissant, so I'll have to come back and give it another try. Beyond the pastries, the staff was super friendly and the shop was spacious, cute, and flooded with natural light. It seems like a delightful place to settle in for a few hours, so I'm sure I'll make another visit soon!

I have tried a handful of treats and this bakery never disappoints. Always fresh and well crafted. Best chocolatine in Montreal! The only downside is that most baked goods are sold out fast.

Automne Boulangerie is a small, intimate bakery with a cozy neighborhood feel—often mentioned as having some of the best croissants in Montreal. We visited on a Sunday around 3 p.m., and unfortunately, the croissants and tarts were already sold out. The only items left were a few cookies and a chocolatine (pain au chocolat), so I ordered the chocolatine for $3.75 CAD. The bakery itself is very compact. Inside, there aren’t tables for sitting, just a small counter to stand at, but there are a few outdoor tables right by the door. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the items available. They also mentioned that weekends usually bring more variety, including fruit tarts, while weekdays focus mainly on croissants. The chocolatine I tried was good—crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside, exactly what you’d expect from a quality bakery. I wouldn’t say it was the best I’ve ever had, but it was still enjoyable. If you’re in the neighborhood, Automne Boulangerie is worth a visit, especially earlier in the day or on a weekend to get the full range of their croissants and tarts.

Had a mocha, cappuccino, croissant with ham and cheese and a cruffin - everything tastes fresh and amazing. You can tell they are really experienced in French pastry especially the Danish. Staff and barista were very nice and friendly too. 👍

My wife looked this place up to try. God bless her. Hands down the best croissant that I have ever had in Canada. The bakery has some delicious pastries and beautiful baguettes. We did pick up 2 baguettes and repeatedly ask for pieces throughout the day. The cookies were also decent. Yet, as we said, the croissants are the best. They are so crispy and light. Sadly, I have had plenty of bready croissants from bakeries across this country. Automne Boulangerie will not disappoint you. I will make a stop here just for a croissant (who am I kidding, for a BAG of croissants) whenever we will be in Montreal. It will be on my must-visit Montreal list of Fairmont Bagels, New Victoria Fish, Drogheria Fine, and Kem CoBa.

A delightful experience Every Single Time. The chef is French trained (in France!). Thank God they were open during Covid! Our go-to is the Rustic loaf. Treat yourself to a framboise almandine et chocolate. Don’t forget the handmade chocolates.

OMG, this place has the best pastries!! I was born just outside Montréal but my mother still lives in NDG and everytime I come home, I hit this place and get pastries, quiches of all kinds, chocolates, croissants, cookies and cakes!! I love the semelles aux pommes ( basically an apple tart very thin in the shape of a sole of a shoe, yes, hahaha, but so good!!) Order ahead of time or get there early! Oh yeah, be aware, every great pastry place is closed on Mondays and they take a few weeks off during the summer time...

Great place, but they need to do something about the size of their pastries and how inconsistent it is. $12 for a chocolatine (half the size of a regular one), small almond pastry and a baguette. I expect regular size pastries. It’s been like that a few times lately.

Best baguettes EVER. I try to come In the morning when they open for their baguettes THEY’RE AMAZING and ALWAYS fresh. Love their croissants, especially the whole- wheat ones which are sadly only available on weekends. I just love the texture & flavour & they keep me from being hungry longer than regular croissants. There’s a timelessness to this shop that I love.

When we moved to Montreal, one of our local friend introduced this cute and dreamy pastry in middle of town🥹🩷. For 2&half years the first pastry shop pop up in my mind for birthday cake is here😍. It's local pastry shop and the baker is really kind and friendly woman with big smile and ready to explain and help you to chose🥰. We tried different types of cakes: Classic Chocolate, Orange & Cardemom, Vanilla & Honey, Rose & Vanilla, Lavender & Honey, all of them are so tasty, soft, creamy, the ratio of cake and icing is amazing, their look is cute and dreamy and simple with reach flavors and combination of flavors will be different every time you go there. I personally love other flavors than chocolate cake here. Doesn't have reservation and it's first come first serve and better to pick up cake within first hours of opening to have various choices, her cake is coming in two different sizes which is small and other one is a bit bigger. It's cash only. My friends always love the cakes I bought for their birthdays from here and they always ask for the address😍. Love this shop with all cakes/cupcakes and cute decoration🥹🥰🩷

This bakery is a true hidden gem! It’s been in business since 2005 and I’d been wanting to try it for ages, and now it’s my go-to for cakes. The portions are perfect either for 4–6 people or 10 which makes it so convenient when you don’t need a huge cake. The owner is incredibly sweet (she even offers a candle!), and the prices are extremely fair. Everything tastes homemade in the best possible way. Highly recommend!

After moving across the city, I found myself back in the neighborhood a few months ago—and suddenly, I remembered the unforgettable chocolate chai cake! SIMPLY THE BEST. The texture, the flavors—absolutely perfect. Today was my son’s 17th birthday, and that memory came rushing back… so across town I went, hoping for a slice of nostalgia. And there it was—serendipity! The last two traditional chocolate cakes (not chai, but still divine). THANK YOU, BEAUTIFUL SOUL, for continuing to make magic. ♥️

I got two chocolate cakes for a special occasion and they were absolutely delicious. One was regular, one was chai (ginger + cardamom). The crumb was so tender, and the icing was just the right amount of sweet. These are some of the best cakes I’ve ever had, and they are affordable ($10 for small, $25 for large).

Wow! I love rima! But I might love her chocolate cupcakes a little more haha! The quality and just everything was amazing! I have not found chocolate cake as good as this anywhere else in a very long time. Must try if you're a chocolate cake lover.

Charming little place, owner is very welcoming and kind. Shop opens at 12 so make sure to get there early, as she tends to sell out fairly quickly. I went once at 1pm and everything was sold out. Tried out the small chocolate cake and it was rich and delicious! Definitely a place worth checking out that offers various cakes, cupcakes & brownies.

Ordered pastries on an app to save food waste and received cakes with mouldy raspberries on them. Went back to tell them that the raspberries on the cake were mouldy and the employee removed the mouldy raspberries and replaced them with fresh raspberries. Although the pastries were purchased from a food saving app it doesn’t mean that I should be sold food unsafe for consumption. Instead of throwing away their mouldy food they sell it for a lesser amount. Mould is something that spreads and penetrates food and the food shouldn’t be consumed if it starts to mould. Excerpt from google « Mold can penetrate deeply into soft or porous foods, and even if you remove the visible mold, there's a high chance that harmful bacteria or toxins are also present. »

First time I picked up tomato pizza it was fresh and wrapped in brown wax type paper. I went back yesterday and I was very disappointed. I was given at least day old pizza wrapped in plastic wrap. When I asked the girl serving me if it was freshly made I was told yes! Well I will not be going back!! Do they think customers don’t know the difference between fresh and stale!!👎 Pizza gourmande was the best and ALWAYS FRESH! Unfortunately the mall they were in closed.

I’ve ordered from this bakery several times on Uber (have yet to go in person) and the quality is always amazing. This was a purchase from Valentine’s Day, but everything is always so fresh and tastes amazing. From their cold coffee, to pastries and cakes, it really does impress!

Local pastries with ingredients sources from Quebec. I ordered the vanilla knot and cinnamon roll and both were so good! Perfectly sweet, soft texture, but not too soft and looked amazing. They also have coffee here and some tables to work as well. I wish everything they sold was only local things but that would mean no vanilla so I get it.

A nice bakery/café with exceptional quality goods. My chocolatine was immaculately flaky and puffy, you can tell right away by the size. Variety wasn't big but didn't need to be. Prices are within reasonable range.

The best baguette I’ve ever had! By 2 p.m., it was all gone. We were late, but the coffee was good. We asked for butter to have with the baguette, and they were so nice to give it to us. We enjoyed it!

Beautiful place, delicious food, and kind staff. There's really not too much more you could ask. From the breakfast (incredible salmon!) to the coffee, and the bread (family became addicted to conchas), the only struggle can be getting a place to sit during busy weekend brunch times. Fairly understandable. Short of that, it's easy to see why this bakery is gaining such recognition in a relatively short amount of time. The interesting mix of Quebecois and Mexican cuisine and ambiance is charming, welcoming and cozy. We were super happy to be so close during our latest stay in Montreal.

We order the birthday cakes for my children’s birthdays here year after year. And with good reason! The custom decorations are always exactly as requested, and the cakes are beyond delicious! I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Really loved the place. Small but very cozy. All pastry I bought were tasty and fresh. Especially liked the carrot cake and peanut butter cake. The blueberry scone was huge and fresh. Enjoyed every piece. Definitely will come back.

Isabelle (the owner) was very helpful and patient with me as I made changes to my order and provided final requests. Housed inside a bakery, it sets itself apart with incredibly fresh bread and pastries. You can taste the difference—from the perfectly fluffy toast to the pillowy burger buns. Their menu blends classic breakfast comfort with some playful, modern twists. We couldn’t resist the banana French toast—rich, golden, and indulgent with chocolate syrup and coconut granola topping. The smoked meat burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and served on probably the freshest bun we’ve ever had. Of course, it wouldn’t be brunch in the fall without a pumpkin spice latte, and theirs hit all the right cozy notes. Portions are generous, the food is satisfying without being over-the-top, and the service is friendly and welcoming, even on a busy morning.

We went to try Fanfare in the Villeray neighborhood, where there seem to be more and more great restaurants to discover. Our brunch was simple, made with fresh local ingredients, yet full of good flavor. Since it’s also a bakery, we couldn’t resist picking up some viennoiserie to enjoy at home. A cozy spot worth visiting if you’re in the area.

One of the best French toasts in Montreal! It was perfectly moist, fresh and I really appreciated the quality of the bread, fresh granola, the crunchy texture, and it was not overly sweet. French toast at brunch places is usually disappointing, too sweet, burnt or dry and leaves you wanting more. They did not disappoint! Service is a bit disorganized and slow (although they are very nice), seating is limited and the seats are uncomfortable- adding cushions would be a great improvement.

we came with a mission: to try their famed pastel de nata. These Portuguese custard tarts are the bakery’s signature item and, as we’d heard from multiple sources, they’ve even been voted the best in town. Naturally, we had to see if they lived up to the hype. When we arrived, options were limited – only the classic and chocolate natas were left – but thankfully, they had just come out of the oven. Freshness wasn’t an issue. These were enjoyable. The pastry was flaky. The custard was good – smooth and mildly sweet.

I’ve worked in this area for many years, but last week was my first time visiting this bakery, thanks to a friend’s recommendation. It was delicious! I’ve since been back several times to try different breads, and they were all amazing. I highly recommend it! The one I circled in the picture is my favorite.

Best Natas in the city! We got addicted for a good two weeks! The only reason we had to take a brake is to have different dessert, but we would keep going if we weren't curious of other establishments.

Finally made it out to try Pâtisserie Rosário. They have natas, bread, pastries and sandwiches but were out of bread on a weekday morning. Natas are $2.00 each, cheaper when you buy more. - Assortment ($18.00 for 12) - natas (traditional, érable, fraise, citron et cannelle, pomme et cannelle), pastel de feijão amande and macaron de coconut. Natas were okay but texture wasn't flaky. Favourite was the coconut macaroons

A very cosy café with delicious Portuguese pastries. The highlight of them being Natas in an assortment of flavours. They are one of the better ones in the city and are worth the drive or the hike all the way to this place. Centrally located on Saint Hubert Street along the strip of stores, why not take a coffee break at some point and enjoy a delicious Natas at the same time. They have other products to sell like spices and canned goods. The sandwiches look absolutely delicious and we think we’re gonna go back to give them a try very soon. There’s not much space to sit inside, but heck that’s not so bad. Very attentive and quick service.

The store has 3-4 nata selections such as fruit, caramel, chocolate, ye I always prefer the classic one. The natas are moisture and yumm (if only they are less sweet). The bread and churros are also good. The new store brings modern vibe compared to the one. Price has been increased but still reasonable.

Beautiful cafe specializing in Italian imported specialties. The owner and chef is passionate about the quality of products and what he provides to customers. He carefully selects items to bring from his home country, striving to provide an authentic experience with his Italian treats. This is the place with the best panettone, pizzas, pasta, and bomboloni. I've seen the place transform from more humble beginnings in a different location to this new establishment. The coffee is great, and it's a nice place to come for an aperitivo with friends and enjoy some Italian treats.

This is my favorite café in the area. The espresso is excellent, and they also sell Italian products and fresh pasta. You can enjoy gelato and even have an aperitivo. The atmosphere is cozy, with great music and a lovely view. The terrace, with its colorful chairs, is a great spot for an afternoon coffee in spring and summer.

They place was almost empty, but when they understood that I wanted to work from them they were not welcoming. They didn't even share their WIFI with me! I had to use my hotspot! Also when I pay tip, I expect some kind of service. Like at least bringing my sandwich to my table rather than calling me when I'm on a meeting. Again, no one was there. I was the only customer. They were not busy. Coffee was good thought.

A very nice cafe/bistro on Ste Catherine street east of downtown. High ceilings and large spaces. They serve delicious coffee and pastries. You’ll also find traditional Italian pizza (forno style, cut in squares). The service was good, tables spacious and clean. There are products available for purchase like pasta, sauces etc.

Porchetta sandwich is delicious. It’s served on a delicious focaccia bread and a pickled spread $15. Juicy, tender, sumptuous but a tad messy to eat. Get extra napkins! Only available on Sunday (or weekends - I forgot what he said). The pizzas looked good as well - next time. Service is informative and friendly. Lots of other curated Italian products for the pantry.

Discovering this place was such a happy accident. Beautiful food, desserts, and coffee in a bright and vibrant environment. I had a latte and a piece of tiramisu (YUM!). I would definitely recommend this café to anyone.

We really enjoyed our stop at La Cave à Manger in Old Montréal. The café has a cozy, rustic vibe with stone walls and friendly staff, a good place to relax with a coffee. We had a pain au chocolat and a pistachio croissant with lattes. Everything was fresh and nicely made, though the pistachio croissant was very sweet, a bit too much for my taste. Still, the coffee was great and the atmosphere lovely. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the old city. ☕🥐

I am a local here and I’ve been a regular client for years here since it’s my neighborhood. I have never left any comments but this time I just have to do it. I came by yesterday and discovered this new Red Velvet Croissant that is recommended by the guy who work there. My god! It’s is so good! It’s not too sweet at all. It’s like having a croissant and a cheese cake at the same time. The filling inside is surprisingly so good!! So creamy! It’s is a light weight cream cheese filling! 10/10 Make sure to give it a try!!

Nice place to stop in for some morning pastries and breakfast . La Cave a Manger is located next to the Bonsecours market in an underground basement like area . Once you go down the steps you are met with a warm environment and a case with classic pastries including bagels , croissants sweet & savory . Coffee barista was very friendly as she prepared a cappuccino for me . I decided to get an almond croissant which was delicious . Nice flaky on the outside and moist filling inside . Ate it with great happiness. Coffee is well prepared and not too heavy . I also purchased a cheese & ham savory croissant for a later snack (not pictured) . Combination of the cheese melted and creating a crust with the pastry is awesome . Great bakery and will definitely stop in again .

Amazing bakery with plenty of outdoor seating with shade at street level. Coffees and cold drinks available. Chocolate croissant eclair with salt was incredible, was kind of a Nutella like filling. If you come towards the end of the day around closing (I came at 7:40pm) they may give you an extra treat! Very nice staff.

La Cave à Manger is a hidden gem in the Old Port. Their eclairs are absolutely outstanding—light, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The space itself has a cozy, welcoming vibe, with just the right amount of character to make you want to sit down, relax, and take your time. If you’re in the Old Port and craving something delicious with a warm atmosphere, La Cave à Manger is definitely highly recommend.

still thinking about our lovely breakfast here and missing this place already. We visited one early morning on a tuesday so it was still nice and peaceful. We went down the steps to a cozy bakery with a few seating inside and friendly staff. The pastries were made fresh and we got to enjoy a perfectly cooked smoked salmon sandwich, ham and cheese and fresh-out-the-oven pistachio croissant rolls! everything was sooo good! simple but quite satisfying for some reason. Outside seating is a delight if you dont mind cleaning up some bird poo a bit so you can sit comfortably. Overall we really had a great time. It would be nice to have the garbage bins moved to a location not by the steps though. But I get that maybe a “high-traffic” area would be best so the birds dont mess with it too much. if you stop by, definitely try their croissant rolls!! the pistachio one was just amazing!

The hazelnut noisette (basically what they have at lafayette bakery in NYC) was so fire. Also got a chicken banh mi (but in french 🥖) and it was crazyyy. Chocolate eclair croissant was pretty good too! Cool idea / texture, but the hazelnut one was better

There’s a reason this place is considered by locals as one of the top places in Montreal. The menu is incredibly original and inventive. The food is prepared immaculately and all the ingredients are fresh. A visit here is certainly on the pricier side but if you enjoy tasting quality food and trying new types of ingredients, it is certainly worth it (if you can get the reservation!). I definitely recommend ordering 2-3 appetisers per group of two in addition to a main as the portion sizes are on the smaller size, but this definitely just allows you to try more dishes!

Service is impeccable, ambiance is nice and cocktails are good. Food is good, clearly made with high quality and fresh ingredients. The lobster pasta and calamari were personal favourites. For the price point I still believe a few other spots in the city are more worth it / leave me wanting for more. Something was still missing in terms of flavour / depth.

Had a great time at Moccione, entrees were really good, my favorites were scallop crudo and the ancestral tomatos. We also had tuna tartare and the mozzarella di bufala as entrees with their bread and it was good. We had 3 kinds of pastas and they were all really fresh and the texture was perfect. For our main protein we took the duck magret and we shared everything. We ended the evening with their tiramisu and canolis! Highly recommend if you want fresh italian food

Went twice and it was undeniably delicious, but a bit pricey and maybe a tad bit overrated. My main disappointment are the portions, maybe I expected more for the price but I understand why it's highly adored, everything is perfectly executed from the sauce to the texture of the fresh pasta... Really can't deny how the flavors were on point, but for the price I am not inclined to go back. (Photos from 2024.)

The food was truly authentic and full of flavor, every dish we tried was top class and clearly made with care. However, the experience fell a little short on the personal side. We were celebrating our anniversary and had chosen this restaurant for our special day, but unfortunately, there wasn’t any acknowledgment or gesture to make the evening feel memorable. We ordered a bottle of wine and would have really appreciated a small touch, even a simple greeting or a sweet gesture, to make the occasion feel special. At a charming neighborhood restaurant, especially one recognized in the Michelin Guide and with dishes at a higher price point, that kind of personal touch is something you expect and look forward to. Overall, the food was excellent, but a bit more attention to the guest experience would have made it truly unforgettable.

Lovely croissants! I was on a mission to find the best croissants in Montreal, and Boulangerie les co'pains d'abord came up on several lists and travel guides. It definitely lived up to its reputation -- the croissants were super flaky, buttery, and rich, and had a nice crispy outer shell. I had the chocolate croissant (my testing baseline for every new bakery), and I was quite impressed. There isn't a ton of seating inside, but if you're lucky, you can grab one of their stools by the window. I can't wait to come back to try out their other items -- the staff recommended trying out a few of their specialty croissants, so I'm very excited to come back to Montreal!

We loved this little bakery café! The place feels cozy and welcoming, very local and full of charm. We had a pain au chocolat, a matcha latte, and a flat white, and everything was perfect. The pastry was buttery and fresh, and both drinks were really well made. It’s the kind of spot where you just want to slow down, enjoy the sunlight, and watch the street go by. Definitely a place we’d come back to. 💛

We ordered the fruit danish and have tried their croissants and olive bread. The fruit danish was divine— the custard was nice and the berries had a nice tarte flavor. Fresh bread and high quality croissants. Definitely among the best croissants in Montreal.

Delicious bakery. Ordered a croissant and apple pastry, Natural, fresh, and well made. They also have fresh breads like baguette or loaves, coffee, jams, and more. Staff was friendly as well. The shop itself is tiny so not so good for hanging out.

This place was fantastic. We ended up here twice for breakfast and loved it both times. Very good coffee, a big assortment of baked goods. The ham egg and cheese I'm there croissants with pesto was A huge highlight. The staff helped us and was very friendly and doing so. I did notice that if you try to engage in French but let them know that you don't speak French, they will speak English and be very helpful. That's not just in that establishment that is a citywide thing. If you are a tourist, please take the time to learn a little French to engage in conversation. But if you're looking for a good breakfast spot or just somewhere to stop in for a coffee and a croissant or the ultimate dessert, the kouign amann give this place a try.

So far the best bakery in Montreal. I love how everything is 100% vegan! The chocolate croissant was perfectly flaky with high quality chocolate inside, mini pizzas were delicious and my favorite was the chocolate ravioli cookies. This place is busy, popular, and cozy. We were able to get a seat by the window but there isn’t much seating. I can’t wait to go again the next time I’m in Montreal.

I must have briefly died and brought to this heavenly place. I have never walked into a cafe/bakery where I wanted to try every single option. And when I did try three, each one was exceptional. The focaccia topped with squash blossoms with a hint of lemon, the olive and tomato topped pizza, the strawberry filled donut… I have never had anything like it. I am glad this bakery is so far away from my home… otherwise I would have spent every single penny I have here. 100000% coming back.

Amazing affordable food and coffee in a beautiful neighbourhood. I loved the focaccia! My husband loved the sandwich and calzone. It was tough to choose what to order because there were so many great vegan options.

Shoutout to the server with the bleached eyebrows for the masterclass in getting everything wrong. We travelled all the way here, carefully chose our order… only to unwrap something entirely different. A bold move - surprise dining! And what she packed? Truly underwhelming. But hey, at least it was confidently incorrect. Thanks for the adventure we didn’t ask for.

Best cafe we visited in Montreal and great value for the high quality of food! There was such a wide selection of sweet and savoury baked goods - all Italian inspired and vegan too! Super friendly staff and nice cafe atmosphere.

This is one of my favorite places in Montreal, and such a hidden gem! I've been taking here and recommending this place to everyone I know, and in turn anyone who tries it becomes obsessed with it. For some time, I would come here every weekend and walk about 35 minutes each way just to eat here. Food: absolutely delicious. I'm from Italy and their food just brings back all the best memories I have from my home. The pizzas are my obsession and every week they change their main dessert, always hitting that sweet spot in my heart. Ah, did I mention that all this is 100% vegan?? 😍 Drinks: if you want to try an authentic italian coffee, come here. Staff: Nico the owner is always super kind, smiling and I always enjoy to chat with him in Italian. The rest of the staff is also very kind, despite the busyness of the place. Tip: avoid coming between 11am and 1pm as it's usually the busiest time, unless you do takeout. Unfortunately they don't have many seats, but then again, if you are not rushing, you are able to get one eventually.

For me it's all about the BREAD. No other bakery I've ever found compares. It's great fresh, but I prefer the slices toasted. Takes about 6 minutes in my toaster oven and comes out crunchy and delicious. I keep the sliced loaf in a plastic bag in the fridge so it doesn't get moldy, ready for the toaster. It's my" daily bread" and I really missed it when they were closed for summer holidays.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve been a fan of La Meunerie for 2 years, and their recent expansion only solidified my love for this place. Despite the growth, the line is still long—but don’t worry, it moves quickly, thanks to their friendly and efficient staff. The atmosphere is warm, and the pastries are absolutely worth the wait. However, I didn’t see much in terms of gluten-free options for those with allergies. If there are any, they weren’t obvious to me, so it would be great if they were more clearly labeled or expanded upon. My only other gripe is that even if you preorder, you still have to wait in line, which seems unnecessary. Management, please consider changing this—preorders should have a dedicated pick-up line! Still, the quality of their baked goods keeps me coming back. Highly recommended!

I adore this bakery. Their bread is divine, and you can get it sliced at no extra cost (which is great, because I can’t cut bread straight to save my life). Their croissants are absolutely delicious, and in my opinion, they are the best in NDG (yes, I’ve tried a LOT of croissants around here!). Their cookies are also a yummy treat. They have a self-serve section, so you don't have to wait in line if you’re just picking up a loaf of bread. The store is step-free and once you’re inside, it’s both wheelchair- and stroller-friendly. One small note: the door doesn’t have an automatic opener, so folks may need to wait for a friendly passerby to help. Luckily, it’s always busy and there’s usually someone around.

Delicate pastries but a little too greasy for my taste. My butter croissant is very airy and the crust is very crispy and thin, however I would prefer it a little less greasy. Its flavor is very unique, feels like there is just a hint of spice or something but not overwhelming at all. Pain Suisse is a little too chocolaty 😭 Overall just not my style, but I do appreciate the level of craftsmanship that the chef has put into making his baked goods.

This place does not need a good review from me. Anyone who has tried the bread or pastries from here, already know that they’re top. If you don’t already know, quickly make your way. There are many kinds of bread. All made with easy to digest flour. Delicious and fresh. You can buy some and freeze to have. Unfortunately for me, their croissants, pain au chocolate, muffins, cookies… all delicious. It is pricey but not expensive because the value warrants the price. It is great to see that they’re expanding. We want them to be around for a long time.

Organic artisan bread, pastries, and viennoiseries made to perfection, baguettes are as good as what you find in france.
