Smedsuddsbadet is a popular family-friendly beach located on the southern coast of Kungsholmen island. The beach is known for its spacious area and is ideal for spending an afternoon with family and friends.
The no. 1 go to for summer nights and naked swim🏊 But the water quality has dropped the last two years so. It is advised not to swim there. Unusable bath water testThe latest test shows unsuitable bathing water. A new test will be taken. About it: Every year from June to August, the environmental administration monitors the water quality at the city's official beach bathing. The environmental administration takes samples for bacteria on behalf of the city districts. The samples show the presence of certain intestinal bacteria (E.coli and intestinal enterococci). The inspector also measures the temperature of the water and checks the presence of waste and other things that can affect the bathing water quality. Sampling takes place in the same way throughout the EU. The samples are taken at one or two fixed points at each bath, for example at the far end of the jetty and at the shallow part of the beach. They are then sent off to a laboratory for analysis.

Nice sandy beach in Stockholm. Suitable for family and all age groups.Big grass area . There is small ice cream shop available. WC available. There is no play area for kids on the beach, but there is one big play area 400meters from the beach. Summer days will be crowded.Near by parking in 400 meters. There is kayak rental place around the beach.

Great little beach nestled in Kungsholmen close to where we live. Lots of space to put your stuff down. Ice cream stand and hot dogs for sale. Great to spend the afternoon with family and friends. Close to Rålis.

Fredhällsbadet, located on the southwest of Kungsholmen with a view of summer Stockholm, offers an idyllic rocky outcrop where experienced swimmers can jump into the clear water. The spot is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking with its stunning view over Lake Mälaren. While not ideal for children due to steep rocks, it's a refreshing place for a swim on warm summer days.
Beautiful area in the summer for laying out and getting a workout in!

Just on the right side of the harbour you will find some really nice cliff's from with you can dive in the dark water of the baltic sea. It may not look inviting but belive me in a warm summer day there is nothing better than this spot in town. Beautiful Scandinavian woman and a nice refreshing place at the water for your soul and mind

Beach
Badplats Stora Flaten, also known as Flatenbadet, is the largest open-air bathing place in Stockholm, located in Skarpnack. The area offers a clean and family-friendly environment with various activities such as diving from the tower, swimming from the jetty, sunbathing on the beach, and playing opportunities like mini-golf and beach volleyball. Additionally, there are amenities including an outdoor gym, tennis courts, canoe rental, and petanque.
It's a really nice beach with plenty of private spots, sand and shaded areas. There is a jumping tower and a few smaller jumping places. The scenery is beautiful. Also it has a kiosk and places to change and toilets. Some people however where not conscious of their surroundings. Overall it was a great experience. Definitely recomend to check it out.
Madli N — Google review
Great location, water temperature was nice, some water activities for children and play equipment. Quite a bit of rubbish though and portable toilets overflowing with waste. With a good clean up it would get 5 stars.
Andy R — Google review
Packed, warm, awesome sand beach with a shop and changing rooms. The water is generally okay once you get used to it, and it also has a fun jump tower that i believe is 5 meters high.

Lilla Essingebadet is a charming swimming spot located on the island of Lilla Essingen, just south of Kungsholmen. It offers a convenient location for a quick dip in the water, with its jetty featuring a ladder for safe access to the deep waters. While lacking amenities such as a beach or shower, it provides a peaceful setting for sunbathing on the lawn.

Park
Tantolunden is a bustling park in Stockholm, offering grassy lawns, jogging paths, and a sandy bay beach. It's not just your average park - it also features amenities like bicycle hire, a volleyball field, mini-golf, an open-air theater, and even options for camping and hostel stays. The area was originally designated for growing potatoes in 1915 but has since transformed into a collection of colorful cottages surrounded by beautiful gardens and orchards.
The lark itself is decent imho, but these small cottages with their own cute gardens are soooo cute and pleasant to see. The weather and atmosphere is filled with calmness. I recommend everybody to dedicate some time (20-30 minutes will be enough imho) and to visit this beautiful place. It’s not so far from the city centre - roughly 10 minutes going by bus
Maksim H — Google review
Lovely park tucked away in the southwest corner of Södermalm. Thee are lovely small cottages (private) with beautiful gardens scattered throughout the park. Mini golf, swimming, fields, playgrounds. Something for everyone but really nice stroll on a nice day
Robert F — Google review
It is a great place to spend a day with family or friends, with playgrounds, a beach, a swimming area, food trucks, and of course amazing scenery.
Behzad B — Google review
Tanto is a very beautiful and sizeable park in the heart of Stockholm. There's a lot to see and do in just the park grounds alone, nevermind the rest of Södermalm. You have your pick of exploring it's beautiful gardens, playing beach volleyball / minigolf / football, diving off the docks to go for a quick swim, and of course, bringing a picnic basket so you can waste the day away with good company. That's barely scratching the surface, though, and it's no wonder the park is a local hotspot during the summer.
Josh ( — Google review
It's a nice place in the midle downtown. It's a clean and organized place.
Nancy P — Google review
The park quite extensive, accessible from both the highway and the sea. It has some dedicated places for whichever games you want to play, and has some decks you can use while swimming during the summer, or other seasons if you don't mind freezing water. It has very cool bike lanes so you can enjoy biking there and afterwards join the highway or along the beach depending on where you want to go. In autumn the trees are just magnificent. Good photos have been taken here.
Phillis P — Google review
I went there to play frisbee golf. It's very nice, very hilly. There is only four holes one twenty meter one fifty seven meter one sixty seven meter. And I don't remember the other one.So not very far. Great views from the top

Långholmsbadet is a popular municipal swimming bay located on the green island of Långholmen, just before Södermalm and near Västerbron in Stockholm. The area features a lawn, sandy beach, showers, restrooms, and nearby cafes. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing on the grass or relaxing on the small sandy beach with designated swimming areas marked by buoys. Despite its narrow beaches, it is a favored spot for swimming.
Nice and quiet place. I was there in end of August and weather was still warm.
Bojan S — Google review
I loved the place! Not too crowded, everything is nearby including wc. The water is quite nice. Perfect picnic area

I heard that you shouldn't swim here because the water isn't good. So I guess it's only nice for sunbathing and relaxing.
Oh G — Google review
Great spot. You can literally camp here all day with your family. They have all the facilities...showers, toilets, bins, restaurants around, fun water activities, you can bike around, water is warm
Abongile M — Google review
Quite a wide beach with sand so it's easier to get in the water. However it has one of the worst water quality in Stockholm, in fact swimming is not even recommended. But the scenery is great. They also got open showers for when you get out of the water.

Brunnsviksbadet is a serene swimming spot located in the northern part of Stockholm, near Hagapark. Surrounded by lush forests, it offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Accessible by metro, it provides a great place to swim with its picturesque view of Hagaparken and relatively warmer water compared to the sea. The kid-friendly shore features a small pier for jumping and has minimal traffic, allowing visitors to swim and relax freely.
Great swimming spot! Super accessible, 10 minute Uber from the city centre. Easy access via the jetty or beach plus vibe and portals nearby. Great atmosphere!
Bethan M — Google review
Nice, quiet small place yo sun and swim. One pier large rnough for several groups to spread out. Some sand to build sand castles. Not too busy on the Saturday afternoon we went. Except for dog poo on the beach, which turnedme off from swimming, a nice, if small, place. The view is superb, green and peaceful. There are paths from the metro to the beach, a little hilly, so not for people with mobility problems.
C W — Google review
Visitors have several choices, sandy beaches, rocky hills, grassy and a naturist (naked) beach. Some spots are quite crowded but by walk along the path, one might find a secluded location by the water, I am quite like it,
Jody R — Google review

Ellen R — Google review
The area is nice , sandy beach with nice and clean water, 200 m away is nice area on the grass where is mostly young people, no kids becauce it is only deep water. So everyone can find a good place⛱
Oliwia Z — Google review
It's a great place to swim. The view to Hagaparken is really nice. The water is not as cold as the sea too. And the walk there in the park is also beautiful. It's kid friendly as the shore is not steep, and you also have a small pier if you want to jump. The lake here has almost no traffic so you are really free to swim and relax.

Very beautiful park and beach. It's big so you can explore around the park. There's a hidden personal garden in this park that I loved a lot. It's a good place to walk around narrow trails and enjoy beautiful gardens. And then go to the beach and enjoy sunny days.
Zahra B — Google review
Love Tanto and people at Tanto. For them, it is never to cold to swim!
Iuri B — Google review
The downtown setting has it's pros and cons - the views are not the best, but it's very vibrant and friendly, with toilets and plentiful food options nearby. More importantly, it's six meters deep with a tower, so this is the site to go to if you love jumping and diving. Certainly one of my favourite swimming spots in Stockholm.

Nature & Parks
Hagaparken is a stunning and expansive park situated on the picturesque western shore of Brunnsviken, just north of Stockholm's bustling city center. This enchanting landscape garden showcases a blend of lush lawns, serene woodlands, and open spaces adorned with remarkable architectural features. Among these are the Echo Temple, a charming Chinese pavilion, and an intriguing Turkish kiosk—all commissioned by King Gustav III during his reign.
Such a nice and extensive park with many different paths, gates, beaches, monuments. If you want access to nature while being in Stockholm, look no further. Lots of people exercising, reading on the grass. Very good atmosphere.
Stanislas T — Google review
I love this park. It’s beautiful, big enough for runs, amazing scenery, and very peaceful. Gets busy on weekends but evening runs are just lovely here! There are cafes scattered around too :)
Dionne C — Google review
Amazing place for a morning walk! I came here around 8:15 on a Saturday and it's a pleasant place to for a nice walk looking at the lake, buildings around it. The path is also wide and you can see many people jogging. There is also a free toilet (well maintained) ! I went out around 11:15 or so to grab my lunch. Overall a beautiful place for a 2-3hr relaxation. And, when it's sunny, its even more worthwhile !
Harish A — Google review
A central city park, well maintaned, it is a fantastic oasis/escape, amazing scenery, and very peaceful. It boasts a butterfly museum and art installation, water inlet (its not actually a lake) and even has a small beach. Amenities include paid parking, toilets and at least 2 cafes. Cafes however, are a little overpriced, so could be an idea to bring a picknic/drinks. Parking by yet another of Stockholms multiple parking apps (I wished there was just 1). A very cosy and popular park amongst Stockholmers and visitors alike, for walks/strolls/jogging and is free and open all year around.
Anton S — Google review
What a beautiful park this is! In summer, it's lush and green all around—an ideal spot for picnics and spending quality time with friends or family. This is actually my second visit; the first time was in winter when the trees looked quite lifeless. Seeing the seasonal transformation has been amazing. I haven’t explored the aquarium yet—I’ve deliberately saved it for a future visit, giving myself a reason to return again and again.

Beautiful outdoor park with royal charm! Hagaparken is one of the nicest parks in Stockholm — perfect for a relaxing walk, picnic, or jog by the water. There’s plenty of green space, impressive historic buildings, and peaceful views around Brunnsviken. Great for families, couples, or solo visitors. 🍽️ We also enjoyed a nice meal at the nearby Haga Forum restaurant, which had a cozy atmosphere and good food (check if it’s open, as it sometimes closes seasonally). Highly recommended if you’re in Solna or just want a peaceful escape from the city!

Cute island, very relaxed place. I really liked the chocolate factory shop and the beer 🍺 super tasty. There is workshops also.

Beautiful small island to visit ! Boat from Slussen both ways 170sek per person, 25min. Few restaurants and cafe. We ate in the first one that has beers. Very good food but seats are very less during the rush hours. Röda Villan restaurant looks very nice setting, can’t say about food though. The island has so many nice spot to enjoy the sea view. Small Viking boats and nice small handmade boutiques. Be careful with the seagulls, during May-June, they are very protective with their small babies, they could poke you. A lot of people in a tiny island on a sunny day. I definitely recommend it.

A small island with great views. A coffee Shop, a souvenir shop, if you want to visit you rather have some runners( not sandals) they are lots of stones, ups and downs around the island. Really quiet place you can drink a beer and have a nice tanning. I also put some pictures from the way to the island with nice buildings and a nice monument on the water.

A great recreational complex with an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and several exciting slides for teens and children. My friends and I really enjoyed having fun at this place, and I only hope they pay more attention to cleanliness. Another positive aspect is that there are a variety of restaurants nearby. After the pool, we went to Tacobar Hammarby, which had excellent food at reasonable prices. My younger siblings were very happy and ate a lot.

Why are there no lifeguards monitoring the behavior and safety of people (including children) visiting this public pool? I often see staff aimlessly drifting around doing...what? Today, one staff member was vacuuming the picture frames in the entrance. Apparently, that is a higher priority than public safety. When there is an incident, they will be forced to change but prevention is better. Apart from this issue, the pools appear to be well maintained.

This is a SMALL KIDS’ PARENT review. Outside area. It's not the kind of place that is worth traveling to, but it's amazing if you live nearby. I love that there is a toddler/small kids area. It includes a 25cm deep swimming pool and playground. Parents of small children can take a breath and relax for a while. There are two small kiosks for fast food, coffee ice cream. You can bring your food with you as well. There are changing rooms, inside and outside showers, lockers, and toilets. Very nice place for kids. Good temperature water in the pools and the showers. Reasonable prices.

GOT MY SHOES STOLEN. My shoes and socks were stolen while I was inside, had to leave barefoot on a cold October evening. Security is clearly a joke. Also, this place is advertised as an aqua park, but it's just a regular swimming pool. No slides, and the two hot tubs were always full. Total disappointment. Avoid it.
Kristofers M — Google review
Good swimming pool, but full of thieves/pickpockets. Good infrastructure reasonable price. The staff is usually quite helpful and friendly, unless you are unlucky and come on a week-end when it’s packed with people. But I am downgrading as in the past two months, 50% of times I was there something was stolen from me… the place is totally infested of pickpockets. So I will probably stop going there now.

Two outdoor toilets. Unfortunatelý the small icecream-kiosk, with coffee etc is closed and the small house taken down. Bring your own picknic, or coffee/tea-basket. Within 15 min's walk from the Undergroundstation Liljeholmen. Booked a sauna time slot a Saturday morning. Location is beautiful and the changing rooms, sauna and spaces around them are clean and well kept. The changing room layout (ladies) is not ideal as a row of lockers are placed directly inside/in front of the entrance door. This means you risk being exposed (to people outside the changing room) while undressing when someone enters. Service (at the sauna) also leaves something to be desired, as is often the case in the Stockholm area with "unique" locations. We were met with an uninterested look, very limited information and a bare minimum level of assistance. Too bad.

31Slussen

Mentioned on
1 list
Transport hub
Slussen, located in Stockholm, offers a glimpse into the region's glacial history. As the ice sheet that once covered northern Europe melted over ten thousand years ago, the land has been gradually rising due to post-glacial rebound. In Stockholm, this uplift occurs at an average rate of 5 millimeters per year, resulting in a significant change in the coastline over time. Visitors can explore traces of the Ice Age and witness how this natural phenomenon has shaped the area's landscape.
