1Spiaggia di Catania

Public beach
Spiaggia di Catania is a public beach conveniently located near the city center, making it easily accessible by taxi, bus, or even on foot. Despite some negative reviews during off-peak seasons, the beach is worth visiting year-round. It offers a long stretch of sand with calm waters and a stunning view of Mount Etna. While parts of the beach closer to the city may have cleanliness issues, moving further away provides a better experience.
Excelente beach. Service at the beach is great - ordering cold drinks... We had lunch here - a lot of options and prices 15 eur. As well there is entertainment team - kods were having fun. Definitely worth of visit
Mima L — Google review
This beach could have so much potential. Though it has so much waste. Looks like a wasteland, not a beach. Sharp things including broken glass hidden in the sand. A lot of sellers trying to sell you various stuff.
Aurimas T — Google review
Dirtiest beach I have ever seen in my life. It made me sick to my stomach and I didn't even enter the water as there was trash floating and shattered glass in the sand everywhere. People on the beach were lying among garbage. The only people I noticed that were taking their own garbage from the beach were not Italians but Polish and Germans. I add a video I made.
Free Y — Google review
Absolute mess! Never seen so many trash at the beach. Seriously for the first time of my life I was worried not to step on a glass or syringe. Recommend to spend time at the beach by beach bar, where sand is clean and riddled. Water full of oils.
Raviq11 — Google review
I was at the beach at the beginning of October. Only the road to the beach was dirty, the beach itself was perfectly cleaned. The sand is super soft and fine, the sea is shallow far inland and the water is also clean. There is a bar where they sell all kinds of drinks. Overall, I am very satisfied considering that the beach is free, if you wish, you can rent an umbrella for 6 euros and a sunbed for 7 euros from the bar.
Dimitar D — Google review
The beach is dirty and poorly maintained. Everything looks old and neglected, definitely not a pleasant place to relax.
Masha T — Google review
The beach and the surrounding area have so much potential. There’s a wide sandy beach, a beautiful shoreline, well-organized bike paths, and plenty of greenery and blooming trees. But the amount of trash is horrifying. I’ve never seen a beach like this. It’s truly heartbreaking, there’s a lot of litter on the beach, and even more along the way to it. The grass near the sidewalks is covered with garbage, and it doesn’t seem like it’s being cleaned. The parking lot also looks like a dumpster. I really wish this place is better maintained and that people are more responsible. I’m giving it two stars instead of one, the nature is still beautiful, and I really wish things were better here.
Anna B — Google review
I got here at the begining of october. Fine sand and shallow water, you walk 50m or more and the water is just 1m deep.

Notable street
Via S. Giovanni Li Cuti is a popular narrow beachside route that offers stunning views and outdoor cafe seating. The beach, formed of black volcanic rocks and sand, is a local hotspot where fishermen still use the small harbor to moor their boats. Visitors can witness the fishermen setting out or landing their catch at the right time of day.

Nature preserve
Park
Riserva Naturale Oasi del Simeto is a stunning nature reserve offering hiking trails that wind through wetlands, dunes, and salt marshes, providing a habitat for migratory birds. The area boasts diverse landscapes, from the lava caves and waterfalls of Etna's slopes to the bustling life around Lake Piana degli Albanesi and the tranquil Bosco della Ficuzza in the heart of Parco delle Madonie.
Truly an oasis from busy Catania, this place offers birdwatching, hiking trails, ample parking, and the opportunity to enjoy nature close to the city. The combination of the sea and the river results in a diverse collection of flora and fauna. Come for the quiet and beauty, and wonder at the colors and peacefulness.
Stacy P — Google review
Real nice place to visit in Catania but unfortunately no parking place. Some parts of the beach are full of woods, Garbage cans, bottles and other stuff... Cause most of the time fire. Sad for nature.
M D — Google review
Left the car for a 30' minutes walk, found it broken into with personal belongings stolen. The other car was much more damaged (broken window) with a camera and three lens stolen. It's a real pity, since this natural reserve could be a great place for whoever loves nature and wildlife, ideal for birdwatching. Unfortunately there are also humans around, so be careful and leave your car open with nothing inside, just to avoid damages.

Peaceful, green, river - when you want to see different part of Catania not very far from the city center, it will be a good place to visit🌿

Lido
Lido Cocoa Beach Catania offers a choice between a small free beach or paying to access the private beach clubs along most of the coast. While there were no sun loungers with umbrellas during one visit, the crystal-clear water makes it ideal for swimming. Visitors can enjoy a bar/restaurant with friendly staff and fair prices. The spot is recommended for chilling out away from the chaos of Catania's city center, offering clean and well-priced amenities.
Unfortunately there weren't any sun loungers with umbrellas on our visit but otherwise everything was fine. For me the main appeal is being able to swim as the water is crystal clear here. There is a bar/restaurant where we had lunch and some drinks. The staff were friendly and prices fair.
Ian C — Google review
it’s very expensive (15€ per person), very small, and the music is soooo loud it’s unbearable 💀 but the service is nice and there’s also wi fi on the area.

Spent the end of our afternoon there - nice staff, great drinks, honest prices & the best (and unexpected) DJ. Who was mixing on 10th September 2022 around 8pm - we were absolute fans of the song choices ? Highly recommended
Anna — Google review
Very noisy place with incomprehensible rules. Descent to the sea is quite deep. The temperature on this beach is extremely high perhaps because of specific beach location. Sunbeds have mattresses which are getting warm from the sun.
Dżesika M — Google review
Nice to chill and swim under the sun. The music needs improvement as well as the choices on the menu but the rest is acceptable and affordable for the price paid of the sun bed 👌

Lido Azzurro is a well-established and luxurious beach destination in Catania, offering sun loungers, cabanas, a swimming pool, and a bar/restaurant. It is known as one of the most exclusive beach clubs in the area, providing a tranquil escape from the bustling Sicilian beaches. The resort boasts the largest stretch of beach in Catania and offers amenities for both adults and children.
Great lido on a beautiful sandy beach. Good value with showers changing rooms restaurant and cafe. Music in the morning and afternoon with activities for the children. Very nice staff and not overly busy. Good relaxing and comfortable day at the beach.
Helen S — Google review
I recently visited this beach club and paid €17 for a sunbed and umbrella. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, for a private beach club, I was surprised to find a lack of rules regarding noise. Customers were blasting music from their portable speakers and watching Reels and TikToks at maximum volume. This cacophony was further exacerbated by the club's own music. The result was a complete lack of peace and relaxation. In today's world, where consideration for others is often lacking, it is crucial for establishments like this to enforce rules. The staff should ensure that these rules are respected so everyone can enjoy their time. Simple measures, such as putting up signs and requiring the use of headphones, would greatly improve the experience. Moreover, the water was not clear and was quite dirty, it also had a lot of algae. While I understand that this is not all the club's fault, it did detract from the overall enjoyment of the visit. In summary, without some changes to the current environment, I find it difficult to recommend this beach club for a relaxing day out.
Mafalda L — Google review
A little run down, 20€ pP for the lounge chairs in the back, restrooms and changing rooms available and in OKish condition. Sandy Beach with a lot of sea weed but clean water with the port nearby, not cristal clear!
Katrine I — Google review
My phone showed me memories from our vacation in August, and we were shocked to realize we hadn’t left a review about this wonderful place. It’s truly perfect for relaxation: there are different zones, not too many people, and a very clean beach. We took sunbeds in the first row — the view was amazing, with Mount Etna clearly visible. We also tried drinks at the bar — everything was great. The takeaway food was tasty as well. The location is convenient, and the infrastructure is well thought out, with changing rooms and everything needed for a comfortable stay. A place we would definitely love to come back to!
Anastasiia S — Google review
Felt really safe (as depicted in the photo). Beach was clean. Contrary to the reviews, the place was really quiet, apart from the beach lounge area which has party vibes. Or, maybe because it’s already off season. Unfortunately, the changing rooms are SO far away.
Godfrey C — Google review
On holiday from Cambridge England, can assure you this is the best beach club with food and drinks at a reasonable price, the seats at the other beach clubs are significantly more expensive for the same experience. come here if you want good service and good beach chairs.
Javier S — Google review
Highly recommended. Ornella, Jose and Peppe are super nice hosts. Great location and great facilities. We stayed a day and didn't want to leave ❤️

Lido Arcobaleno is a popular destination known for its clean, sandy beaches and clear, inviting sea. The Spiaggia Libera 2 and Spiaggia Libera 3 are public beaches equipped with amenities such as showers, toilets, and bars to ensure a comfortable visit. Additionally, there is an Italian restaurant offering a variety of pizza, pasta, salad, meat options, and seafood dishes.
We went to the restaurant four times in our four-day trip. A large selection of great food, including delicious fish and seafood, always prompt service and lovely staff. One of the gentlemen on the wait staff was particularly attentive and embodied the spirit of true Italian hospitality and humour. 100% recommended!
Luciana M — Google review
Unfortunately, not a great place. We spent half day at the end of May. The restaurant looks deserted and in disrepair from the front. The boardwalk is a very deteriorated wood with lots of trip hazards and holes. The impression isn't better inside. Maybe off season but still the restaurant looked badly furnished with sagging sofas, no buffet on display. The service in the restaurant was very slow even though there were hardly any customers and plenty of staff. The best I can say about food that the French fries were good. Grilled vegetables were cold and burned, bruschetta was soggy (how can someone ruin that) and seafood pasta was average. The beach was good, mostly clean and there were plenty of sun loungers. But, the wind was so extremely strong directly off the sea that it was hard to enjoy. Children's play area was there but again, with broken or unusable parts, like noone actually cared and no seating near it for parents. Just disappointing.
Martina W — Google review
I cannot really recomment this place. The beach is wonderful sandy. The food is bad. See photo of fruites. If you have the joice, try another beachbar/restaurant or just stay at the beach. We paid 9€ per person. Thus is not expensive, perhaps it variates during season.
Thorsten E — Google review
terrible service, bad food, slow waiters. we spent multiple days here the beach is good but the food and service is absolutely terrible. We had a fully hard boiled egg in the lasagna it was a bad experience overall
Xiao Q — Google review
Amazing experience. Staff is very friendly and nice, the owner treats everyone with kindndess. The bartender didnt shy at all on the aperoll, and since its september the beach wasnt crowded at all. The price for 2 beach chairs and one umbrella was 10 euro and the staff went frequently on the beach to make sure nobody is stealing. We didnt try the food
Dragoș B — Google review
Overall, our experience there was good and we enjoyed ourselves there. Taking a point away for the condition of the beach. There was a board with a rusty nail in it, and unfortunately, my gf stepped on it. There were quite a few cigarette butts and some trash in the sand. We expected a bit more for 11 euros per person on the weekends and 9 eu/p during the week. The gelato was amazing, and I also enjoyed the fruit cup.
Alexander R — Google review
Dinner here during stay nearby. Good value for money, nice food and wines with quick and efficient service. They also sell bus tickets here, although you'd never guess. Can't comment on beach facilities, never used them
Paul G — Google review
I recently visited Lido Arcebolano during my trip to Sicily. While the food itself was delicious and well-prepared, the overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the extremely slow service. We waited a very long time not only to place our order but also to receive our food. It wasn’t just us—other guests around us also experienced similar delays. That said, I want to make it clear that the wait staff was not to blame. The servers who were present were clearly working hard and constantly on the move. It seemed more like an issue of understaffing rather than negligence. If the restaurant had more staff to match the number of guests, the experience could have been much better. Still, if you’re patient and not in a rush, the food is definitely worth trying.

This is the closest beach to the Catania Port and it is not taken care of well at all. It's so sad to see, piles of trash after you walk by the squared off area for tourists it is nothing but trash. Some actual trash bags, most of it just washing up and along the coast. There were large dead fish washed up in spots as well. People sitting amongst the trash...playing in it. I wanted to cry honestly. I wanted to see how long it would take for me to walk the coast until I saw 0 trash and it never happened. I dont recommend coming here unless you're going to help clean it up.

Not a bad one, visited the beach by the end of October. There is not so much garbage as reviewed by the others, however, the beach would need some "update" - it looks very old, the buildings around etc. do not leave a good impression. Overall, good for one or two hours but I would spend a day there.

International airport
Airport
Vincenzo Bellini Catania Airport is a major hub for both domestic and international flights, serving the southern and eastern regions of Sicily. Located just 7km southwest of the city center, it offers convenient access to the beautiful region of Catania. The airport provides transportation options such as the Alibus service, connecting travelers to the city center.
My 5 star review goes to the staff in particular, the facilitators for special assistance. There is a guy by the name of either Alberto or Alfredo... He treated my mother like a diamond. His English is excellent. He has amazing people skills. We spoke of Portugal. I even invited him to visit us next time....he exells in PR, very well spoken and really made a stressful day so much lighter. The airport itself can be a tad confusing but the staff definitely compensate for this. This beautiful gentleman who works for special assistance could do with a promotion. And not just a glorified title but also his Salary. He was training new collegues while tending to my mother. His patience and leadership skills are rare to come by in today's scary society. If the airport administration is reading this, please go and commend this charismatic guy!
Jasmine G — Google review
Arrival hall doesn’t show any departure flights. Just go to a random departure floor upstairs to find any departure info, and if you are in terminal A and need to go to terminal C, you must go to the ground floor and go outside again. There is no duty free shops in terminal C, and only 3 toilets for women for entire terminal C. The only store is a small cafe with very few selections of food souvenirs. Very pity to miss the chance of earning tourist’s money.
L C — Google review
Very bad airport. The space is very very small and you can’t go to the toilet because you need to wait more than 30 minutes to get in, you don’t have seats to wait your plane.. it’s really chaotic and I didn’t had good experience here. For example, during the checking, there is a lot of place to seat but you can’t because at the same time different companies were doing the plain checkin. This airport need to improve the service for tourist experience
Daiana C — Google review
My first 1-star review ever for this abomination of an airport. From the highway, the roads and signage to the airport are scant and hard to follow. Rental car return areas are very difficult to find, with each provider scattered randomly along the typical Sicilian narrow 'roadways' shared with people walking with luggage, children, strollers, wheelchairs, from randomly located parking lots, rental lots, drop off points, etc. The signage for the rental car return provider has logos too small to see unless you're standing in front of it waiting to get hit by vehicles attempting to navigate, drive and avoid hitting pedestrians. When you finally find the rental car return lot for your company, locating a spot can be challenging. The quick return 'kiosk' (Avis) asks for a QR code, but there's no QR code on your key fob tag. Attendants may or may not be present at the desk. Walking from the rental lot (no shuttle of course) is equally circuitous and dangerous. The route is not marked in any way, requiring a maze of busy street, tiny walkways, steps, curbside, etc. A person with any disability whatsoever would be unlikely to survive this cluster of a route simply to get to Concourse A. Once inside the terminal, a sea of people with waves of movement seemingly without clear intent as to where theyre headed. The check-in desks are in the same general area as the lines for the security checkpoint right smack in the middle of everything else. Once through the single file line through security, one bright spot was there were a good assortment of food vendors adjacent to gates 7-17, although only one with coffee. Our family members at higher number gates reported only a single vendor of any kind at gates 18 and above. The gate areas are very crowded and seats are difficult to find. For the handicapped or anyone that has difficult with stairs, I did not see an elevator anywhere. Even if there was an elevator serving the upper floor, anyone/everyone is likely to encounter stairs at some point, with no other options. Then...lines for the gate are crowded, tight with a lot of pointless gathering of people that could not find seats in the gate areas and have no choice but to stand around while the movement through the general gate areas slinks their way through the masses. Once through the gate check in, down the ramp leads NOT to an airplane, but to 4 flights of stairs to a shuttle that, once crammed with passengers, heads off to your airplane, somewhere on the vast tarmac. When we arrived at the plane, there were more steps up to the plane, however, they kept us IN the shuttlebus for 20 minutes with no explanation, while we sweated our shirts off breathing the diesel exhaust. Then, apparently there was an issue with the plane, but there was no announcement as the shuttle bus turned back around towards the gate, sat below the stairway for 15 minutes then we had to go back up the 4 flights of stairs back up to the ramp where we exited back to the gate area wondering just what the heck is going to happen... An hour passes... departure board indicates the flight has boarded and boarding is closed... another hour passes, no announcement regarding the flight. I wait in a line of people at the desk, all with the same question... no answer except they're still working on the plane. Because they haven't canceled the flight, we can't re-book another flight back to the U.S...an ambiguous holding pattern. Calling the partner airline was no help as the flight is not canceled. No telling whether we're getting out of Catania today. I hope we can at least get to Frankfurt where our chance of getting a flight back to the U.S. are likely greater than this 3rd world airport. Oh, and all of the urinals in the men's bathroom were closed. Update... mass of people move toward the gate, still no announcement about the flight, or boarding. Standing in the cattle maze, no apparent zone boarding order at the moment. No attendants at the desk. Gate sign changes to another destination...

We arrived around midnight and found the airport quite small and easy to navigate. Check-in was fast, which was a plus, but there aren't many places to sit or rest comfortably — definitely not ideal for spending the night. There were only a few shops open, and the outside of the building isn’t particularly attractive. If you're arriving late or have a long layover, I’d recommend booking a nearby hotel instead of staying at the airport. It's functional for quick arrivals and departures, but not a place to linger.
Svetlana M — Google review
❗ I recommend allowing extra time and arriving early at Catania Airport, especially if you’re flying with Ryanair and need to check in a bag. We waited well over an hour just to drop off our luggage. Security, on the other hand, was fairly quick and smooth. The airport itself is quite small and seems to struggle with the number of passengers it handles. Surprisingly, the lounge was better than expected.
Sunny N — Google review
Horrible airport in all fronts! The route to get to the airport is scarily bad! A pretty sketchy neighborhood, with lots of tight streets and horrible drivers! A total chaos! The airport terminal looked more like a bus terminal! No signs in English!! And the WiFi did not work anywhere in the entire airport! So disappointing and frustrating!
Vahid S — Google review
Mediocre airport. Not much to rave about. Could be better adapted to older people and people in wheelchairs as some toilets are downstairs without elevators.

11City in Hostel Bed and Breakfast Catania

Hostel
City in Hostel Bed and Breakfast Catania is a vibrant and relaxed accommodation option that provides complimentary breakfast, a bar, and a courtyard. It is popular among young people in Catania not only for its nightlife but also for its unique feature - the famous Amenano River flows through the cellar of the restaurant, enclosed between ancient medieval walls. The hostel offers clean rooms with meticulous furnishings and helpful staff who provide local information.
Bed bugs, Rude cleaning staff and strange vibes I arrived at the hostel at 12:30 pm and politely asked to leave my bags. It was a hot day, and I just needed a moment to sort out my things and change out of my boots. But the lady who let me in was rude and rushed me out. I left my bags but wasn't allowed to change my shoes. I’ve been traveling for over a year now, staying and working in many hostels. Allowing guests to quickly sort their belongings and prepare for the day is a standard part of hostel life. Being rude on top of that was unnecessary. I should’ve read the other reviews more carefully, as several mention rude cleaning staff. I no longer felt comfortable staying there, so when I returned at 2 pm for check-in, I asked to cancel my reservation. I explained what had happened, but they said it was just the cleaning staff and refused a refund due to hostel policy. I should’ve cut my losses and left then as now I’ve left with bed bug bites. I told reception about the bites, but they weren’t apologetic at all. Aside from all that, the hostel doesn’t look like it does in the photos. In the lounge, the couch was piled with blankets like it was being used for storage. The courtyard and the location are decent, at least, but there’s no real atmosphere here. I wish I’d spent the extra €5 and booked somewhere that treats their guests better.
Tom B — Google review
Great location, however cooking essentials were not provided. Bathrooms did stink and there was no hot water half the time. There’s a very small fridge to share between dozens of people and no noise restrictions whatsoever. Music blasting well past 2am. Rooms all have a nice little balcony and patio area is cute. It could be such a lovely place with better management. I would stay again bc the location + price but I’d bring ear plugs
Mel — Google review
Avoid - bedbugs!!!! It’s a recurring issue I’m certain staff and management are aware of due to the number of reviews that already mention it, but it seems like nothing is done and they try to blame it on guests’ “allergies to mosquitoes” instead. Poorly managed, hard to get a hold of staff who can actually help, and they are truly unapologetic and take no responsibility at all. Helpful only when prompted. This is coming from someone who never writes bad reviews too, but I think fellow travellers should save themselves the nightmare and just book a place that costs a little bit extra. It’s cheap for a reason.
YC L — Google review
Hostel to avoid! There are bedbugs in the beds — I’m speaking from my own experience in the dorms. But the worst part is that there have already been reviews mentioning this and nothing has been done about it!
Andrea M — Google review
Bedbugs! Don't think I've ever been chewed up so badly in my adult life. Very unfortunate as I liked the hostel and the location. The bites can last two weeks. Even with medication it's really terrible. I recommend always googling how to check your place before you unpack your suitcase! And of course Google reviews in advance which I wish I did now.
Ben K — Google review
The design and architecture of hostel is creative. The personal is okey (not rude),but didn't explain anything. A lot of showers and toilets. They have wonderful place outside for take a meal or smoking. Location is good: safty region and near the castle Ursine, 10 minutes from the center.
Paulina_AirlieWoW — Google review
The room was on the first floor and there were areas where you cannot stand straight because of the inclination. The kitchen opens late for those who need to depart early or going on a tour. When cleaning the public array, the total area is out of bounds
Joseph W — Google review
The men in my room were predatory, I felt super unsafe as a woman. I told the receptionist and asked to be moved rooms and sadly she didn’t care. I had to move to a hotel at 10pm. I can’t post a review on HostelWorld as she cancelled my booking, and offered no refund. Super sad that the lady at reception was also a young woman. I would urge females not to stay here. I’m still hoping to get a refund from HostelWorld as I was in this hostel for an hour and had to leave. Very disappointing as I’ve stayed in many mixed dorms but this was not safe.

Eco Hostel is a unique accommodation located in Catania, offering casual dorms in a former theater. The hostel provides complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi for guests. It features concierge services, allergy-free rooms, and a shared lounge.
The staff were so nice and they made an effort to get to know people. Also the complimentary wine was homemade by the owners family and amazing!! The beds also have a curtain for privacy which was unexpected and an extremely nice addition. Very clean and located the perfect distance from the city center. Highly recommend !
Emily T — Google review
Excellent, the rooms were clean, spacious and you felt like having privacy with the bed curtains, despite being in a dorm. I also liked how the lights are automatic to stop some lunatic guests barging in at 3am, waking everyone up... The staff were the highlight, so friendly, personable and kind. Would recommend!
Valentin — Google review
I had a great stay at Eco Hostel in Catania. The location is perfect—right in the historic centre, walking distance to the main sights, markets, and plenty of cafés and restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to give tips about the city and Mount Etna trips. The dorms are thoughtfully designed with privacy curtains, personal lights, and USB sockets. Everything felt clean and well kept, and the common areas made it easy to meet other travellers. Breakfast was simple but fresh and a nice way to start the day.
Justyna K — Google review
Thank you sooo much to all the staff for their kindness and caring ❤ and to the nice roommates I met. I enjoyed my stay in Sicily so much and the stay at Eco Hostel was truly a big part of it. The staff makes you feel at home, nice advices on how to visit, bedrooms are clean, breakfast is nice with some cake juices, coffee, common space is perfect to share with others with darts, netflix, baby foot when I went ... Locker available for more valable stuff. Perfect location to visit Catania city center, and to take bus or train to visit Taormina, Siracusa, and Etna. Definitely going to stay in youth hostels again when traveling alone, because of the enriching social experience it offers.
Michaël M — Google review
Eco Hostel is an amazing place — super clean, comfortable, and with a really friendly atmosphere. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful, especially Gabriel, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect during my stay. I truly felt welcome here. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Catania — you’ll definitely enjoy your time here!
Shwan — Google review
I absolutely hated my stay here. The rooms were unbearably hot. The AC was set at 24 degrees and the staff refused to turn it down. I woke up many times sweating and the AC did not work well anywhere in the building. The bathrooms do not completely lock and the breakfast is just pieces of toast with strange dips. I did not enjoy my time here and would stay anywhere else in Catania where the AC actually works.
Mauricio A — Google review
Stayed for two nights in one of the dorms and it was great, bed was a king single size with a sturdy frame so no squeaky noise like other hostels. Staff was very friendly and they offered a glass of Sicilian wine for the stay!
Mark T — Google review
The place does not match the description. There is no power outlet near the bed, so you can’t charge your phone conveniently. In reality, there was no curtain and no locker for personal belongings. This is really disappointing — I ended up spending the whole evening in the city carrying my backpack on my shoulders, and when I finally returned, I couldn’t even charge my phone. I don’t understand how this is possible, especially since I booked in advance. In the end, the basic things you expect from a hostel were missing. I recommend choosing another place instead! They offered me half money back, but after posting this review they had changed their mind and requested to delete review, unfair! I have sms in WA from them. No money back and review is deleted..

Le Capannine is a trendy beach club located in the Playa area, offering tiki huts, sports facilities, and lively parties with DJs. It's part of the vibrant nightlife scene along the coast, particularly in the former industrial area of Le Ciminiere. The beach club features dark volcanic sands, umbrellas, and sunbeds for relaxation. Visitors can also enjoy coastal cafes and restaurants for refreshments.
This is the best beach in Catania. We went there almost everyday during our vacation. The staff are really nice and kind too. Looking forward to see you next year.
Shaila T — Google review
Nice beach. No dogs, almost no kids. Easy to book on spiagge app or website. The cost is 30€ for one umbrella and two sub beds. The distance between the umbrellas is pretty decent, which is good. No towels, no small table for drinks/food. The territory is very clean and neat. A lot of grass and trees.
Alexandra M — Google review
The beach is well organized, nice place - this is the reason for giving one more star. The fee of renting a sunbed is just discussing. 20€/ person. I understand that the owner has got to pay the bills and stuff, however a sunbed cost a max of 25 € at decathlon. The place is very nice, unfortunately this was the first and last time here. It is a shame that people would like to come here and enjoy the see, holiday etc. and there is always something that just feels you have been robbed.
Gregorian B — Google review
Perfect! Nice beach, nice restaurant, nice bar, nice WC and showers facilities, nice view to Etna! Super close by to Catania, you can either reach it by public buses or by Uber. Price wise is good for the facilities and the ambient, is a great place to recharge and relax.
Jairo B — Google review
Very clean beach, one of the best in Catania in my opinion. Suitable prices for entry and for food here. As a tourist, you can reach it by bus and short walk from main road.
Miroslav M — Google review
Great beach with really good waves!! Is a beach club during summer and free beach in winter!! Waves here are really good quality on sand bar!! With offshore there are great waves with barrels a- frame!! Best conditions are with waves with south and south-east swells!!

Really nice and organized place. Planning of space for any beach activities with super clean water. Minus one star for not having a non-reserved area. I rented a space for beach chairs and sun umbrella, but people whom didn't was trying to share same spot of me.

I believe it worths the money you pay. 1 euro for the Parking, 5 entrance and Then 15 if you choose an umbrella with 2 beds. The beach is really beautiful.

Excelsior Lido Srl is a fantastic destination with well-maintained facilities and friendly, helpful staff. The ample parking space, though requiring key handover, ensures convenience for visitors. The dining options offer a wide selection of delicious and reasonably priced meals in a pleasant environment.
Great place. Clean, well cared for, staff very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of parking available but be ready to hand over your keys 🤭😊 Excellent choice of food for lunch at reasonable prices and lots of good space to eat it in. Lovely dining facilities.
CHRISTINE D — Google review
The lido is intended mainly for locals, elderly ladies with their habits, families of a very mixed level. You can experience the kind of parenthood from the previous century, adults smoking around children, adults not interacting with their kids, people clearly unaware of the dangers such as too loud music for the small ears. Ignorant management. The lido is not very well maintained, for example drinking fountain is not getting fixed for weeks. Generally the lido structure is pretty old and needs a total renovation to meet the European standards. For sicilian standards it is very average. In Europe free beaches have better and more modern facilities than this lido. Waste of money.
Asia J — Google review
The sunbeds are ok, it's quiet, most of them are elderly people and families with children. The place where you buy drinks and food is ok, but PLEASE be careful about what and how much you buy, because there are no prices displayed, as is normal, and the cashiers charge differently, increasing the prices from one order to another, the product being the same...this was my case. Also the bathrooms are pretty clean, but no toilet paper.
Andreiu M — Google review
The animations are a joke, every time during baby dance the music is so loud that it can hurt the ears of anyone, especially of a small baby. The animators dont listen to put the music down even though the amount pf decibels is dangerously over the allowed limit and our baby cries. Every time kids only draw and do nothing else. Moreover the lido charge money for everything to squeeze you like a lemon. And by the way if you want to try the worst granita in Catania you can come to lido Excelsior.
Joanna B — Google review
Lifeguards and staff are nice and helpful. Price is a bit high. Sea is clear. The low rating is for the bad conditions of the toilets (no soap or toilet papers!!!)
Ragui F — Google review
A lifeguard in black glasses is a real bottom for foreigners. I'm standing NEXT to the swimming pool without a cap, NEXT to it. order - get out of here. Local children swim normally, but my siblings are warned every 5 minutes, e.g. for grabbing the railing to hold on and swim :) We can't jump from the jumping spot, but everyone else can, and the lifeguard doesn't pay attention to it. I also think it's a big tourist town that has hired an employee who doesn't know the simplest English phrases, e.g. "where is the toilet", "is it possible to smoke here". He runs around the pool looking for people who will understand us. The beach closes at 8pm, but we were told to leave at 6:30pm even though there were other beachgoers. When we asked for help in setting up an umbrella, he helped us with great pretension. I wonder if the lifeguard can even swim or if he just complains about foreigners. Besides, it's quite uncomfortable to be constantly hanging around us and watching everything we do. On the beach it was possible to survive with him, but the pool is a real massacre and I will definitely not come back here. Even if there are some bans on jumping or grabbing onto the railings, why were we the only ones being warned? He was literally blindfolded at "His People."
Emilcia M — Google review
The pool was closed, which was the only reason we chose this particular resort. There was no information about it in the online booking system.

Lido Dog Beach, situated at Lido Azzurro, offers a delightful shoreline that is both pleasant and welcoming. The owner is exceptionally amiable, ensuring a warm and friendly atmosphere. Lido Polifemo is a charming beach destination in Sicily that offers a relaxing atmosphere and excellent amenities. Visitors have praised the welcoming staff, clean and well-maintained beach, and affordable prices for entrance, umbrellas, and daybeds. The food at the cantine is highly recommended for its delicious taste and reasonable prices. Families with children appreciate the cozy and comfortable environment with designated kids playing areas.
We spent a pleasant day at Lido Polifemo with our teenage daughter, it’s a nice atmosphere and everyone is smiling and helpful. Prices are really good at the cantine for food and drinks and the food was tasty! Highly recommended, thanks!

Probably the best lido in Catania, especially when you consider value for money. Overall, Catania's beach is very dirty and neglected so it's not uncommon to see trash while swimming but that's not the lido's fault.
Stefan R — Google review
Well..for 2021 and 2023 we chose Sicily as destination and Polifemo as favorite beach. Why? Simply because it is great: amazing food, cooked like at home of an italian family; great coffee..amazing aperols, granita..and then breaches clean and well take care off..cosy and confortable, kids playing yards. We just kept coming back. I will come again. I know. Keep doing these good things. I felt like home with my kids there. Greetings fron Romania!
