The Mary Todd Lincoln House, located in Downtown Lexington, is the historic childhood home of Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of President Abraham Lincoln. This iconic site offers tours and events for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history of one of America's most famous First Ladies. The house is adorned with mid-19th century period furniture, family portraits, and Georgian-style architecture. It provides a glimpse into the life and times of Mary Todd Lincoln and her family.
We had a great tour. I love the self guided tours...move at your own pace and take it all in. Just a small complaint..for those of us that love taking historical photos...the signage in the middle of things is just a distraction. Just my thoughts....Other than that great place to visit. And such a comparison from visiting Abe;s log cabin earlier in the day. To the see the stark contrast in how each was raised.
Tony K — Google review
The Mary Todd Lincoln House is a spectacular historic house. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint was that the guided tours are only after 3 pm. So, unfortunately, we did the self guided tour.

A great find! Imagine, finding such a gorgeous house along the main road amongst new modern places. The Mary Todd Lincoln House! They were closed the day we came through, but we were able to check out the exterior and look through the bricked fence at the floral courtyard. The stately brick manor looks especially beautiful with the black shutters. I can just picture the family living here and tending to their everyday life inside their home and in the garden area. We hope to make our way back to KY during open hours to tour the interior. Admission fee for self guided/guided tours. Active military discounts and live performances. Good for kids. Gift shop available. Open Monday-Saturday (Closed Sundays) 10am-4pm *wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot. Onsite parking and paid street parking.
Dede K — Google review
My wife and I did the self-guided tour. After a thorough introduction by the staff member, we went through the home. Each room was well-identified and the provided (written) description of the room was complete. The gift shop had a broad selection of items at reasonable prices. The staff members were very friendly!
James G — Google review
A nice visit with history. Outside gardens were wonderfully designed. The house has been restored and retains the structure of the original Todd home. I felt the admission was worth supporting the mission of the building and enjoyed the gift shop.

Amazing place to take a trip and visit. The staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable. It was like walking back in time to another way of life. Very well laid out and organized. Can't wait to go back another day!

Very interesting. It's a self-led tour. Stay as long as you like

Located in the literal heart of downtown Lexington Kentucky is this wonderful historical sight. The docents are very knowledgeable. Extremely interesting to look into the past of the early 1800s. Both the interior and exterior are very well presented and maintained. We enjoyed the "backyard" garden. We highly recommend this niche of Americana. The tour is very well done. Must see.

The park also features various event spaces such as the Man O War Memorial, Club Lounge, Campground Pavilion, Alltech Arena, Rolex Stadium, Covered Arena, Hunter Jumper Complex Rings, Walnut Stadium, Dressage Complex and Cross Country Course/Steeplechase Course.
Amazing beautiful day of horses and two horse museums. A must see, you can spend most of the day here! Be sure to book horse rides early when you get there, they sell out fast! Gorgeous grounds, so many horses and shows and educational opportunities to learn the worldwide history of the horse. Love this place!! For all ages. You can see how those that work here truly love what they do and love the horses they care for. 🥰
Beth A — Google review
Went for a dog show. Nice venue, clean. Rented stall for grooming space, that was great! Lots of room. Enjoyed seeing the horses showing and in pastures on way out. Lovely grounds! I noticed they have pony rides for kids and horses for adults, I assume for trail rides.
Willow M — Google review
What a wonderful and relaxing experience! Being in Kentucky, home of The Kentucky Derby, my initial thought was that this place was strictly about the thoroughbred but I was so mistaken. They covered every type of horse, horse event, history of the lineage of horses, and so much more! It was truly a great and educational experience. Everyone was nice, professional, and encouraged us to ask questions and had plenty of answers. Such a rich history at this 1,200 farm, filled with horses to pet. A review doesn't do it justice. You need to experience this place. Everything was on a schedule (if you like structure as I do) and timed at a leisurely pace so you can get to the next event on time at a comfortable pace. Or you can experience it on your own schedule. So much h to do! This place needs to be on your bucket list. Entrance pricing is very reasonable and so are items at the gift shop. Make a day of visiting history!

When visiting the Kentucky Horse Park I have had nothing short of an amazing experience. The Horse Park is in a great and easily accessed location, being right off the highway. The Horse Park has a great show facility. The rings have good footing and are very spacious and well kept. The big grass cross country field is every horse persons dream. Along with the layout of the horse park is really nice with having the horse show on one half and the museum and other activities on the other side. The museum is very easy to get to and has tons of parking. It was also super fun to have the chance to meet the horses that live in the big barn and the people who care for them. It was super interesting to get to walk though the other side of the horse park because I spend most of my time horse showing there. The horse shows are always done so well having food trucks and plenty of fun thing to do other than show! Overall a great experience every time.

This is really a great place to get a feel for the Kentucky horse country as you're passing through. Can definitely spend two mornings there. If you try to make it one long day it'll probably be too much at one time! When you buy a ticket it's good for the second day also. You'll see all kinds of breeds of horses and there are several museums on-site, you can go for a reasonably priced nice horseback ride, there's scheduled events throughout the day for visitors to see. Very pretty, well done, worth visiting.
RicK — Google review
Absolutely loved our visit to the Kentucky Horse Park! It’s one of the most well-organized and family-friendly places we’ve ever been to. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and it’s very clear how much effort goes into making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. I was so impressed with how they use every barn in a creative way—you can tell they’ve thought about how to turn every part of the park into something entertaining and educational. The museum was a highlight too—super informative, well put together, and beautifully presented. But what stood out the most for me were the people. Everyone working there is incredibly passionate, kind, and genuinely seems to love what they do. They smile, they engage with visitors, and they talk about the horses like they’re family. It made the whole experience so warm. The horses themselves? Huge, clean, friendly, and so well cared for. My kids had the best time petting them, taking pictures, and just being around them. It felt like being on a peaceful, happy farm, and the weather made it even better. We really enjoyed being outside together as a family. One thing I really appreciated was how they honor the horses’ history and origins. They give credit to the countries and places that donated them, and everything is well documented with lots of interesting stories. It adds a deep, respectful touch to the whole experience. Truly, it’s a special place. A must-visit if you’re in Kentucky. So enjoyable from start to finish. 🐴🌿😊

Wow, just wow! What an amazing experience. I'm traveling from PA and this was a great opportunity to experience a wise variety of things for the day. From the museum, to horse rides and even learning about breeds. This was a fantastic day! I'm really glad I visited. You will not be disappointed!
Stephanie C — Google review
Going to Kentucky Horse Park was a wonderful experience. The horses were beautiful, well cared for and we were able to pet them. Terrific people available to explain about the horses and answer questions. The museum was filled with all sorts of plaques and various horse-related items. Sandwiches were good at the cafe but I'd pass on the French fries next time. All-in-all a great day trip.

Waveland State Historic Site is an antebellum plantation in Lexington, offering a glimpse into the city's history. The site showcases the life of Joseph Bryan and his family, as well as the enslaved individuals who worked there. Visitors can explore the Greek Revival mansion, stroll through gardens, and learn about the 1850s hemp industry. The property includes a historic house museum and outbuildings on 10 acres of land.
I have lived in lexington for over 20 years and yet I had never been here before. What a waste of 20 years, this place is awesome! We came after it was closed so only enjoyed the playground and surrounding area but it is SO beautiful. The trail leads right up to the railroad tracks and we got to watch a train go by super close so my son was overjoyed. Beautiful gardens, a cool little swampy pond, historic objects an building's. So much space, I could imagine they host many weddings and events. Cannot wait to come here again!

Waveland historical plantation house in Lexington, Kentucky, was a very nice visit. The guide was a young woman dressed in period clothing. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a toss between Waveland and Ashland, which was the best to us. We love them both for different reasons. The history is deep and rich.
Joseph M — Google review
Simply beautiful. We catered two weddings there in a month. The venue is gorgeous and perfect for events. They have a building for bathrooms and a barn! Finally took a tour and the lively lady brought the entire family and estate to life. Do not miss this when in Lex!

Our tour of Waveland was amazing. Kennedy was fantastic. She took time to answer questions and was very personable. We arrived at a time that is usually between tours but Kennedy took her own personal time to give us a tour. She was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Thank you Kennedy.

A nice old house and garden. We walked around the garden. Too expensive to go in and it's a guided tour only.

The home and tour are an excellent step back in time to learn more about our early history in a beautiful setting. Be sure to say hi to Susan Miller the Interpreter. Her book is on sale there and contains many beautiful photographs with detailed descriptions.

Historic site by Daniel Boone's relatives. Tour inside was not available at my hour of visit but grounds are open from dusk to dark. Playground, gardens, and some unique buildings. Fitting tribute to the enslaved people who helped build and run that place.

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, sprawls across 100 acres on the University of Kentucky's campus. It features a diverse collection of plants and trees representing each of the 7 physiographic regions of Kentucky. Visitors can explore formal gardens, natural areas, and horticulture display gardens while strolling through the Walk Across Kentucky or admiring the rose gardens. The site also includes the engaging Kentucky Children's Garden for young nature enthusiasts.
The arboretum is so beautiful and a good size, not too big or small. It’s well maintained and plenty of easy walking paths. There’s no admission to the main garden but we would love to have gone to the children’s garden but it was closed the day we went. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it while you’re in Lexington.
Erin S — Google review
The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The insects, birds, and rabbits are everywhere. It's well maintained and the staff is very friendly. It's free and fun for the whole family. There are numerous paved paths for walking, jogging, or taking the kids for a stroll. The trees are absolutely gorgeous.
Joseph M — Google review
The arboretum is a beautiful place, and it makes for an amazing opportunity for you to step away from your daily stressors. Especially with it being so close to the University of Kentucky, it's a great place to go right before a big exam to take a break from studying. The first time I ever went there was right before one of my chemistry exams and I have to say before going there I was an absolute mess but after being able to spend time in nature I was able to take a deep breath and realize everything was going to be okay. They also have a very touching statue of a flock of birds flying away to commemorate the lives lost in a plane crash which happened in 2006, which is a very tragic yet beautiful sculpture which adds a touch of history to the landscape. If you have any extra time, I would 100% recommend giving the arboretum a visit.
EG C — Google review
A Green Oasis in the Heart of Lexington The Arboretum, officially the State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, is a 100-acre treasure located right on the edge of the University of Kentucky campus. It is widely praised as a beautifully maintained, free-to-enter public space perfect for escaping the city bustle and connecting with nature. The standout feature is the Walk Across Kentucky, a paved, two-mile loop that guides visitors through living collections representing the state's seven major physiographic regions, from the Bluegrass to the Mississippi Embayment. This educational and scenic path is ideal for walking, jogging, or a leisurely stroll. The paved trails make it highly accessible for strollers and wheelchairs, which is a major plus for families. Beyond the main loop, visitors consistently enjoy the specialized areas, including the Home Demonstration Gardens and the serene Arboretum Woods, one of the last remaining examples of Inner Bluegrass woodland. For families, the Kentucky Children's Garden (which charges a small separate admission fee) is a huge hit, offering interactive, hands-on learning environments like a digging pit, a water wheel, and a creek for splashing. Overall, the Arboretum is a must-visit. It's a wonderful, safe, and free destination—except for the Children's Garden—that showcases Kentucky's diverse flora and offers a peaceful setting for people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors. Just be aware that it occasionally closes for UK home football games, so it's wise to check the schedule before visiting on a Saturday in the fall.
Ronald D — Google review
We had time to see one thing in Lexington on our way home, and The Arboretum was what we picked. It was a good decision, even if it was a hot day for it. Love seeing all the native plants, though we often wished there had been a bit more signage.
Jennifer C — Google review
Love that this wonderful oasis is available in the middle of the city. Great trees and gardens. We were there at the end of the summer and the garden was close to being spent. I could appreciate all the plants. Will definitely go back at different seasons.
Suellen N — Google review
Beautiful native garden with so much thought given to the experience while walking through the garden. Totally recommend a visit. Sit on a bench, close your 5 breathe!
Angie N — Google review
If you like natural beauty, visit The Arboretum at the University of Kentucky. We really enjoyed the relaxed stroll with our daughter and her boyfriend and dog. Wonderful fall weather. Free to the public. Just be aware that during UK home football games the area is also used for tailgating. We went at 11am and were informed that it would close at noon to visitors due to tailgating. We spent a leisurely hour. We could have spent longer but did not want to interfere with festivities, although I doubt they would enforce the timeline. We also visited Keeneland horse track race. If you are in the area, enjoy it!

Ashland - The Henry Clay Estate is a historical site that was once the home of the influential American statesman, Henry Clay. Visitors can take guided tours of the 18-room mansion, which has been meticulously restored to its 19th-century grandeur. The estate's sprawling grounds and gardens offer a picturesque setting for exploration.
This is the beat historical home museum in Lexington! The tour was a well done and the guide was very knowledgeable. Henry Clay was quite the statesman. There's an indoors guided tour as well as a large outdoors green to venture out in.
Joseph M — Google review
We visited on 5/29 around 2-4p. Lady at ticket area was a bit snooty and curt in her demeanor as all four of us in our small group confirmed afterwards. Pricey IMO ($25). No discounts offered other than AAA members. Our tour guide was awesome!
Bernie A — Google review
This place is a real gem, with a beautiful garden and a peaceful area for relaxation amidst the trees. There’s a small parking lot, a gift shop, and a cafe all nestled in historic buildings on the estate. It seems like the main house is only accessible during tours. The garden was absolutely lovely and well-maintained, with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the estate’s beauty.
Eddie H — Google review
Really cute space- but NOT Henry Clay's home. They do take AAA discounts and student discounts for admission. It was his son who tore the house down and rebuilt it. The guide spent 20 minutes of us just standing in the entry way giving is history. I recommend they put that on video for folks to watch so we don't have to just stand as they take up time rambling on. I could hear others in the group talking and meandering and the guide doesn't get that talking gets old after about 7 minutes. Each room had neat stuff- but again this isn't a history Chanel show that I'm watching and because of the small space can't even see the faces of the folks mentioned. If someone has to use the restroom they have to be escorted through the house and we had 2 in our group that needed restrooms at about the 1 hour mark: which meant they had to call someone each time. Our guide was a little overzealous and mentioned numerous times she was "worried" something would be ruined on the tour. If you need an elevator there is not one and the steps in and out are old and somewhat steep in spots. Some items are said to belong to Henry, and they kept mentioning enslaved . A nice pics of history. Glad I got discount tickets. Not worth $25 adult price within a discount though. Grounds are lovely.
Kelli K — Google review
Wonderful tour. Our guide, a volunteer, clearly loved what she was doing. You could see that she was very proud of Henry Clay as an important statesman in the history of the United States. She was so full of knowledge about his life and the artifacts we were looking at, I left feeling like I knew a lot more about the Clay family. It was a great stop to make in Lexington. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I would suggest to future visitors, is to check the tour time schedule. They aren’t very often and I had to wait for about an hour to start my tour.
Claeys F — Google review
Loved my visit to Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate. Our guide made the history feel alive, and the house itself is beautiful with tons of little details to notice. I strolled the shady grounds afterward—peaceful paths and giant trees made it easy to linger. Friendly staff, easy parking, and absolutely worth a stop in Lexington.

Visited for a bourbon tasting. The food and drinks from The Commonwealth Bash are not standard here of course but it is a beautiful spot with a lot of history. The huge trees are beautiful too and it’s a nice shady area

The Lexington Cemetery is a must-see attraction, housing the final resting places of notable figures such as authors, horsemen, war heroes, activists, and politicians. The cemetery's natural beauty is also a draw, featuring over 200 tree species and thousands of tulips. Visitors can pay their respects while strolling through the peaceful grounds or admire the stunning winter landscapes and spring blooms. Additionally, it holds historical significance with three sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Beautiful cemetery right off Main Street in Lexington. The cherry blossoms are a big draw every year when they are in bloom. We might have missed peak by a few days, but they were still worth the drive. We did make it a point to go by John Breckenridge and John Morgan's grave. The Morgan monument used to be downtown but was moved to the cemetery.

First time here with family just to look at the cherry blossoms and geese. . Cemetery is huge once inside cherry blossoms were quite in full bloom yet maybe in another 2 weeks but it was a fantastic experience make sure to take lots of pictures. . Cherry blossoms located closer to the middle end sections 47-48 to the left and you can park on the right or further down on the left plenty of space to get your steps in and bring your dog

This cemetery is massive and there are mosoleums, grave stones, monuments and a few underground tombs.make sure to stop in at the office and get the map and pamphlets. The Clay Henry monument and grave is massive. Well worth the visit.

Love this cemetery. Many old and gorgeous tombstones. Beautiful scenery, lovely ducks/geese. Henry Clay's monument is stunning and perhaps my favorite one that I discovered showed Jesus raising up a man from his grave. Spectacular! Well worth a day's visit.

Beautiful cemetery with well-kept grounds. It was perfectly scenic for a peaceful morning walk. Really enjoyed my time here, and look forward to returning. There is some kind of commercial property toward the back of the grounds (I couldn't tell if it belongs to the cemetery or is a another business), but cars were speeding through the grounds to get to this location. Just something to be mindful of if you're planning a visit.

Lexington cemetery is really beautiful. They have signs on the edge of certain sections that tell you, you are at the grave of someone famous or very important to Kentucky history. Not all famous have those signs. The reason I kept it from 5 stars is the speed limit. 20 mph is way too fast in a cemetery. Speed limit should be around 10, maybe 15. 20 is too fast and people walk around the cemetery with their pets and people don't slow down when passing another vehicle. Can't tell you how many times I encounter an unsafe vehicle at the cemetery during my visit.

We were in Lexington this past weekend for a concert and drove past a cemetery about a mile from our downtown hotel. The next morning as we were leaving town, we decided to spend a little time going through the cemetery. It was the last weekend in October so it was absolutely beautiful. Such rich history and includes the tombs of Henry Clay, the Todd family (Lincoln’s in-laws), and Coach Rupp of Kentucky basketball fame. It also had a national cemetery within its borders as well as an arboretum. If you love old cemeteries, this is a wonderful location to visit if you were in the Lexington area.

One of the most beautiful cemeteries in the entirety of Kentucky! It is really well kept, and has great scenery. There is the large Henry Clay memorial which has got to be over 200 feet! There is also some veterans tombs, and really old stonecaps!

McConnell Springs Park is a 26-acre nature sanctuary located in the heart of Lexington, Kentucky. It holds historical significance as the site of the first settlement in Lexington and offers educational programs and events. The park features natural springs, including Blue Hole and Final Sink, along with paved and dirt trails suitable for strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. Visitors can enjoy picnics amidst native wildlife while exploring the area's geological wonders.
This is one of the more beautiful and scenic parks I have visited that is within a large city. The wooded areas were beautiful and lush when I visited in early May. The boardwalk around the pond makes for a nice chance to see turtles and fish in the pond. I loved exploring all the natural springs and caverns here. The "blue hole" is definitely a spot to check out.

@Aug.2025 Located in the city, easy to access, nice place to take a little walk. Most of the trails are paved and very easy to walk. The first little pond shines in beautiful blue when it’s sunny. There are enough parking spots and welcome center has a bathroom.

McConnell Springs Park is an absolutely gorgeous part of Lexington. I walked into the welcome center fairly early in the morning (right after they opened) and was greeted with super kind staff members that asked if I had any questions. Overall, very friendly staff. The stone walls, log cabin, and bridge were all absolutely stunning and very well built. There were so many turtles in the lake that were just chilling on the logs and swimming around, there was also a really pretty bird I saw chilling by the water watching for fish. The trails are very child friendly, but if you are looking for a more challenging hike, McConnell Springs probably isn’t for you because all of the trails are very wide and well maintained, making them quite easy to navigate. The blue hole was another thing that was definitely worth a visit; the water was very clear and pretty to look at, and at each of the stops along the trail with cool sights, they had helpful signs to tell you what you were looking at. Overall McConnell Springs Park is very pretty and worth a visit if you’re just looking for a non-strenuous stroll in the woods.

Anytime I need to clear my head, McConnell Springs Park is one of the top places that comes to mind. If you're local to Lexington, you definitely need to check it out. It's a hidden gem located in a seemingly industrial area, but once you arrive, you'll start to feel submerged in nature. There's about 25 acres but the actual path is approx 1-2 miles worth of walking. Only downside (for me personally)--no dogs allowed. It's a very peaceful stroll with several areas worth stopping to see. Fun fact: McConnel Springs is a historic site where Lexington was first named by a pioneer, dating back to 1775!

McConnell Springs Park is truly a secret spot! It’s in the middle of an industrial area so you would never expect to find such beauty tucked away in the midst of it all. It’s definitely a peaceful escape, with well maintained, easy to navigate walking trails and natural springs that are truly beautiful, the park is definitely worth the trip! I find the scenery to be quite relaxing..especially as the weather cools a bi. The park also highlights the historic significance of the park! The only thing I find to be a con of the park is that it doesn’t allow pets, this isn’t a deal breaker for me as my animals are back home in Louisville, but I do wish all parks were pet friendly, even though I understand why it’s not. The whole space is well cared for and clean both by workers and volunteers alike. While nature is enough to keep me coming back, they also host events like poetry under the trees! McConnell Springs is definitely worth the visit!

This park is a great size for kids. You can get all the way to the end in 10 minutes if you wanted to or spend hours walking around. The springs are really cool, tons of wild flowers, a play area for kids, and a visitor center with bathrooms. There’s a picnic area too if you want to bring a lunch.

I absolutely love coming here and taking a few moments to appreciate what exactly makes Lexington such an amazing little place. Standing quietly amongst the wild flowers and little shaded trails, listening to the water, birds chirping and the industrial complex together is just a really cool thing to experience. It's been a helpful spot to take my kids as a reminder that we can utilize some resources while protecting others. They love watching the turtles bask and it's helped them appreciate the "cuteness" of all earths critters 😅

Visitors can explore historic aircraft, try their hand at piloting in flight simulators, and view captivating aviation industry photographs. The museum is a great escape from horse-themed attractions and offers an educational experience for aviation enthusiasts. Children can marvel at authentic aircraft and interactive displays while learning about the history of human flight.
Thank you to the docents for all the information & the volunteers that keep up the facilities, gift store and the airplanes! ✈️ Very informative such as the first flight in Kentucky, had a great time.

They have so many neat and historical exhibits on display here. They have exhibits from the early days of aviation to modern exhibits. All of them are very fascinating and educational. There's many military and commercial aviation exhibits on display. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The location next to the airport means you can watch smaller aircraft takeoff.
B A — Google review
Lots of fascinating aircraft and related exhibits on display to enjoy. I had a wonderful conversation with local retired military pilot who flew helicopters and was there every Wednesday to talk to guests. Kids can sit inside several aircraft as well. Only complaint was how warm it was inside the hangers. It was uncomfortable.

I visit Lexington several times a year and finally gave myself a few hours to tour the museum. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I engaged in conversation with one of the tour guides for a little while about the CF6 display engine. Great variety of static displays with many decades of aviation history represented. I need to revisit so that I can take in more of the smaller displays that I missed. I would like to see a little better variety of items for sale at the gift shop though. Overall, at least 4 stars experience. Give yourself probably 3 to 4 hours to take your time and take it all in.

This place had quite a few planes but also a lot of historical memorabilia and information. People who are into aviation, aviation history, and war history will find this place very engaging. They also had activities for small children and some cockpits that you could sit in and manipulate the controls. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You are close enough to the planes to touch them which is uncommon and places like this. I think it is well worth a visit.

Keeneland Association Inc, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a renowned thoroughbred horse racing course and farm with a rich history dating back to 1875. It is known for hosting a variety of races throughout the year, including prestigious events like the Breeder's Cup Classic as well as lesser-known but significant races such as the Spring Fling Handicap Race for 3-Year-Olds.
Very interesting place. My daughter and I and two of my grandkids went to check out the place. We heard in the morning between 6-10 you can go watch the horses get exercised. We got to talk to a few of the people who worked there and even got to pet one of the horses. Learned several things about race horses. They find it hard to get weight on them since they are so active. The horses drink 15 gallons of water a day and eat at least 15 lbs of food a day. I loved watching them a lot and learned a lot. You have even have breakfast at the race track kitchen.

Fascinating tour and introduction to the world of horse racing. I had no idea as to the complexity and tradition behind this historical way of life. Awesome place for kids on saturdays in October! 8a-10a it’s FREE, watch the horses practice! Kids games, arts and crafts, fun giveaways, stickers, concessions, good place to relax, chill and enjoy the track! They have the headless horseman walking the concourse once during that time! The bathrooms are heated so it’s nice during the cold months October through march. YouTube: Taylor Grayson 33 headless horseman for video!

What a fun day trip! Tips for visiting: 1. There are guys that will teach you how to read the program and how to make smart bets. 2. Wait to see the horses and the jockey before you bet. They will walk outside the betting area. Get a vibe for how they are doing today. 3. You can bet $1+ for any race. Bring cash. 4. They will ask you, what race, and what horse number, and how much your bet. Look at your ticket, to make sure they have you what you paid for. I trusted the person heard me correctly and it was the wrong horse. I was upset, but I also should have looked at my ticket. 5. You can bet for a horse to “Win” (1st place), or “show”1st, 2nd, or 3rd). I enjoyed betting to win on a long shot who looked good or had a solid name, and then bet on a horse with solid trainers/ owners and better odds to place. Find your own rhythm, but this was exciting to me and I won twice.

Bluegrass, Breakfast, and a $2 Bet 🍂 October in Lexington means crisp mornings, thundering hooves, and a whole lot of heart at Keeneland. Between Sunrise Trackside coffee and paddock tours, autograph signings with legends in silks, and Heroes Day tributes that hit you right in the chest—this month’s race meet is more than sport. It’s tradition, adrenaline, and community stitched into every stride. I’ve never gambled in my life, but I might just take the plunge and make a two-dollar bet. 😆 Lucky Shot’s got long odds and a name that feels like a dare. Planning my perfect Keeneland day: • ☕ Start with coffee and morning workouts at Sunrise Trackside • 🐎 Meet the horses in the paddock at 8:30 a.m. • ✍️ Grab a jockey autograph at the North Terrace • 🎖️ Salute our heroes on October 19 • 📱 Download the Race Day app for picks and replays • 💸 Maybe—just maybe—place that first bet The Breeders’ Cup is calling next fall, but October’s already galloping with magic. #KeenelandFallMeet #LexingtonKY #HorseRacingTradition #SunriseTrackside #HeroesDay #JockeyLife #BreedersCup2026 #LuckyShotBet #TwoDollarPlunge #BluegrassStrong #NeverGambledButMaybe #KeenelandVibes

With a seating capacity exceeding 23,000, it ranks among the largest arenas in the United States.
Beautiful venue. We were at a sold-out show, but there was no waiting for concessions or bathrooms. The staff was friendly & helpful. We didn't encounter any issues. Key Park is a beautiful place to lounge before the event.

Being a Kentucky Basketball fan, this place really hits the spot for me, the size of the stands, it was great, and I am very excited to go see this season and I can’t wait for it to begin. Since it’s the off season, I was only able to walk around in the main concourse with hallways to convention halls. Furthermore, you get a great look at the different concourses, along with that, the facilities are very clean and well organized. Watching games on TV has only brought me joy for the future season and watching the cats play top-tier basketball. Also the outdoors is very nice with fountains and easy to navigate walkways as well. There is also plenty of parking that is a very easy walking distance and many food spots for either before or after the game. Overall, Rupp is one of the best facilities in college basketball and home to one of the best teams, so if you live in Lexington, or are visiting, I very much recommend going for a game.

We seen Creed here and it was our first time at this arena! We had pit seats and they were great! Well lit parking lot.

Recently I attended the Eric church concert here and had such a wonderful experience at Rupp Arena. The entire building was so nice and with beautiful architecture. The energy and atmosphere were so comforting and hype which I love. All the staff there were so sweet and extremely helpful for helping you figure where you are supposed to be going. The hot dogs are delicious at the concessions, the lines were long and did take a bit, but we were able to make it back to seats before the concerts started with the help of the amazing workers. The bathrooms were clean, and the lines were long, but they went by fast and the entire time I was in line all the girls were all bonding and talking which was so nice and comforting. Getting out of Rupp Arena was honestly not hard at all and it went smoothly. Rupp Arena is not only known for there concerts but for the basketball games played there. I went to many Kentucky games growing up and this building is such a wonderful place to watch these games. Every seat has a pleasant view of the court and the stage so even if you are sitting all the way at the top, you will still have a pleasant view and an enjoyable time. Overall Rupp Arena is such a fun and lively place that always guarantees a fun time no matter what event you go to.

The show we went to see was amazing. Sound and lighting were very well done. My only complaint was that a drink (fountain soda) was $7 - $9, and bottled water was $5.
Mari L — Google review
I’m a freshman at the University of Kentucky and going to a basketball game at Rupp Arena is honestly one of the coolest things I’ve done here. The energy inside is crazy, and you can feel it from the second you walk in. Everyone’s yelling, wearing blue, and just completely locked in the whole game. When the team hits a big shot the crowd goes nuts, and it feels like the whole building shakes. Even if you’re not super into basketball, it’s still something you’d end up enjoying because the atmosphere makes it hard not to. The seats are good almost anywhere you sit, but the food and drinks are kind of expensive like most arenas. Getting out after the game takes a bit since there’s always a huge crowd, but that’s pretty normal. Overall Rupp Arena really shows how big basketball is at UK and it’s one of those things you’ve got to experience at least once while you’re here.
Griffin C — Google review
Prices, of course, are high, including parking. But it was easy getting in and out of the parking lot and arena. Very surprised tbh. I appreciated the police and security directing traffic and pedestrians.
Brittany K — Google review
Rude, Rude, Rude! I Will Not Attend Another Event at Rupp! My husband and I drove three hours to meet up with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons to attend Disney On Ice at Rupp Arena on 4/5/25. While the show itself was magnificent, the experience with the venue staff left us feeling angry and disappointed. We were seated just a few rows up from the floor with our 2-year-old grandson and 3-month-old grandson. After the show, we chose to stay seated a few moments to let the crowd thin out while my daughter was trying to get the baby secured in the carrier, and we were collecting our things. That’s when a worker came up and rudely said, “We need to get up through here and clean. We have another show tomorrow.” When we asked for just a minute, she shooed us with her hands and said something like, “Yeah, we need you to go on!” It was completely unnecessary and disrespectful, especially with small children in tow. She wasn’t carrying anything and didn’t appear to be doing urgent cleanup, just scanning the area. We made eye contact and she knew she was being rude. I reported the incident to someone who said they were a supervisor, and as luck would have it, the same staff member walked by while I was speaking. I doubt anything will be done, which is why I’m leaving this review. To make matters worse, a severe storm hit as the event ended. We were trying to exit toward the parking lot we paid to use (across the street), and were told we couldn’t use the closest door unless we were waiting to be picked up. Staff instructed us to walk around to the front, which in turn would have had us walking further in the pouring rain with two small children. Again, staff were pushy and showed no concern or flexibility. And the parking lot situation? A disaster. It took nearly an hour to get out because no one was directing traffic. Vehicles weren’t alternating to let people out safely, and cars on the main road weren’t slowing down. It was dangerous, especially crossing on foot in the rain with young children. No overpass. No one helping people cross. And this was a children’s event—they knew there would be many families and little ones trying to get across those busy streets. Rupp, you have got to do better. Your staff need training in basic courtesy, and your crowd and traffic management need serious work. The show was magical. The rest of the experience was anything but!

An amazing theatre and historical landmark in Lexington, the Kentucky Theatre is one of my favorite places to watch movies. I've been plenty of times and it's always a great experience. The interior is beautiful and has an elegant vintage vibe. Even the entrance has an old school marquee that really sets the stage for the type of theater it is. The screening rooms are always clean and the seating is pretty standard but the halls themselves look amazing. The screen and sound are just as good as any modern theater. The last movie I saw here was Mickey 17 in their main theatre hall and I loved it. They have plenty of concessions and the staff are super friendly. The pricing is pretty good considering what most theaters charge nowadays. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Overall its an amazing place and a must see if you're visiting Lexington.

I bought tickets for a comedy show to see Eddie Griffin perform. It is an older venue that is historic in Lexington I believe. Tickets were pricey for working-class people on a budget but also very reasonable for the act I believe. I grew up watching him on TV and comedy specials, so for a little under 250 with parking is a steal in my eyes. Security was on point and was focused on their jobs. The drink and snacks are quite pricey but we all know that's expected for a night out. The seating was adequate for an average-sized person but if you are tall or larger in width it might be tight fitting. You will have to stand up to let folks walk to their seats in your row, so that's something to think about when purchasing tickets. Middle is always the best I think. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing, allowing you to mingle/network or just focus on the person/people you came with. Overall, I would recommend visiting this location again. The experience was smooth and it's in a prime location for you to go out and enjoy our city of Lexington!

ZERO customer service. My wife bought us CCR revisited tickets for our anniversary since I am a fan. The day before, my wife got sick and we couldn't go. I tried using the website to resell my first row aisle seats, but the feature was "not turned on". I made many phone calls that day and the day of the concert, but there is no live person to talk to on weekends. The seats went unused. I emailed customer service twice asking for a response, no reply either. Instead I get multiple emails asking how I enjoyed the show. Thanks for the memory Lexington Opera House.

It was awesome! The only problem wasn't the venue - it was all the people talking (so loudly!) during the performance. Kind of a bummer, but what can you do. Great beers and the absolute best hospitality, starring the fabulous Mary, tending bar and suggesting the tastiest “pick any five” flight. Trust me, trust her with this weighty decision. If you’re hungry, don’t leave without trying something off the menu at their neighbor, Smithtown Seafood.

My favorite place to go in Lexington and they make my favorite IPA! Make sure you grab some food from Smithtown Seafood and don't forget the oysters! Make sure you follow them on social media too and look out for special events and special menu items. I went to their Lexington location for their super bowl bash and their derby party and had a great time for both.

Awesome service and fantastic selection of beer. Seriously, had a very eclectic selection to include a Tripel (which I had), a Donut 🍩 stout (which I also had), and a lager IPA, which was super tasty. Went to Mass around the corner and then grabbed a beer (as any good Catholic will haha). Overall, great location, beers, and beer tenders.

Awesome staff. Awesome selection of craft beer. Great food next door, which can be ordered and eaten here. Good choice amongst good choices.

Hendrick was our beertender today at this fantastic brewery. This is a must visit just for variety of beers. My friend Tim had the Pay it Forward Porter and raved about the complex and beautiful upfront flavor and gentle finish. I had a flight of IPAs and the worst one was terrific. The other part of the recommendation is the inland seafood restaurant next door.

West Sixth Street is a very good brewery in Lexington. The brews are great, and they are regularly coming up with new flavors. If you're not sure about a description of a particular style, ask for a sample to try before buying an entire glass of it. There is inner seating in the tap room with additional seating in the brewery, not to mention the tables outside. Bring the kids, bring the dog, bring a friend, and bring them all. Sit back and enjoy! If you get hungry, order something to eat from Smithtown seafood attached to the tap room of West Sixth.

Visited this college campus on a school counselor bus tour. I’m only a little familiar with Lexington as I have a friend who lives here. Our hosts were friendly & gave an informative presentation; they also provided us with a delightful lunch from DV8 Kitchen. We went on a toasty tour 🥵 & in my opinion, there wasn’t anything aesthetically pleasing about the campus, from the outside anyway. Huge public research university; undergrad & grad students it’s like 36,000 folks!! 🤯

The school does everything they can to cost the students (basically their parents) as much money as possible. The meal packages are designed to cost dorm residents the maximum possible. They offer meal plans to students living off campus that are better and cheaper than plans available to students living on campus. 175 anytime meals that don't expire for $1600 per semester for off campus, compared to 10 meals per week for 16 weeks (160 meals total) for $2050 to students living in a dorm, and the meals expire at the end of every week if not used. This is just one example of their predatory practices. They know every angle on how to extract money from the parents, while telling the parents they cannot talk to them about their child, and the child needs to make all requests for changes or information etc. They take advantage of barely adults because they know basically kids don't know any better and usually do not follow through on things.

It was the worst experience of my life, I lost my was to be husband today! I was the surrogate of his medical and had a directive and they ignored it and gave him morphine until it killed him. All within 15 mins. Then yesterday a nurse gave him a deathly combination of meds to a person with lung cancer and put him is respiratory distress, it took all day just to get his blood pressure and vitals normal. This place is a death sentence... And not to mention how rude the nurses & Drs were. I asked for a self discharge and was told by 3 practitioners that he wasn't going to get very far with there tubes in his side , and he wouldn't have enough oxygen to get to the parking lot Bec he wasn't taking there's! They tried to force me to sign a DNR! I hate this hospital, and I felt something uncomfortable and kept saying I'm ready to get outta here, but they wouldn't allow it.

Food & Drink
Located in Lexington, Kentucky, the James E. Pepper Distillery is a historic site dating back to the 19th century that has been restored and now operates as a working distillery. Visitors can take a tour of the building to learn about its fascinating history and sample some great bourbon. The distillery also offers an in-depth tour where visitors can learn about the unique process of crafting their spirits.
My wife and I stopped by for a tasting. The tasting room is small, but most people were coming through for tours, so we had places to sit. The story of the distillery is really cool, and there is a lot of history. The current owners have restored the original distillery building on the original site, and it now houses various restaurants and shops, inside the various parts of the old distillery building, which is really cool. It's a really popular area overall now sitting right next to a river. My favorite pour was from their special edition decanter series.

The female staff member provided excellent service and gave very informative details about Bourbon. I was truly impressed! Unfortunately, we had other places to visit, so we didn’t have a chance to join the tour this time.!

Great tour, informative and fun. Will, our tour guide, was funny and kept the tour flowing and lots of cool information. We tried the mash and the high wine which was a wonderful to try the different levels of distillation. The bourbon and rye were delicious, great product with an incredible history. Highly recommend scheduling a tour and tasting, you won't regret it.

We visited this distillery a couple of weeks ago. Kira was our guide and did a great job. The tour was informative and Kira was knowledgeable. However, the tour itself was pretty typical and didn’t really stand out from other tours we have went on. They do have a new(ish) outside Bar called Ella’s Patio Bar so even if you don’t do a tour you can still partake in their bourbon. I believe the hours of Ella’s is limited.

If you love history, this is your tour. Pepper is a small craft distillery. This was our first tour and I’m glad it was. It is not overwhelming. If you get the amazing Kaylee as a guide, you are going to get a thorough understanding of the process from the grain selection to the end product. Also a great story that is over 200 years old. Kaylee set the bar very high for all our other tours through KY.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Journey Through Time at James E. Pepper Distillery Stepping into the James E. Pepper Distillery in Lexington, Kentucky, felt like walking through a living chapter of bourbon history. Established in 1880 by Colonel James E. Pepper, a third-generation distiller and passionate advocate for whiskey innovation, this distillery was once the largest and most technologically advanced in the United States. After being dormant for over 50 years, the distillery has been meticulously restored, with distilling resuming in 2017. The commitment to authenticity is evident, from the use of the original limestone well to the revival of historic recipes. The tour was both informative and intimate, offering insights into the distillation process and the storied past of the Pepper brand. Tasting their signature 1776 Bourbon and Rye was a highlight—each sip a testament to their dedication to quality and tradition. Beyond the distillery, the surrounding Distillery District is a vibrant hub of activity. I enjoyed a slice at Goodfellas Pizzeria, known for its New York–style pizza and craft cocktails. A visit to Crank & Boom provided a sweet treat with their artisanal ice creams. For those interested in craft beer, Ethereal Brewing offers a diverse selection in a cozy setting. The James E. Pepper Distillery is more than just a place to taste exceptional bourbon; it's a destination that celebrates the rich tapestry of Kentucky's bourbon heritage. Highly recommended for history buffs, whiskey enthusiasts, and anyone looking to experience the soul of Lexington.

J.E.P. Distillery's 4-year aged, 100% rye, barrel proof whiskey is stupendous ($68). We went to James Pepper Distillery for the tour at noon. Inside the "showroom", there were excellent adornments, quality bar, and premium shelving for their stock of whiskeys. Slade, our tour expert, gave us a vivid history of Jas Pepper and his wife's involvement in the early years through its bankruptcy to now its current ownership by Amir Peay, a well known bourbon ambassador. Throughout the clean facility tour, we were greeted by the warm yeast mash of the pot stills, interesting differences between corn/rye/barley in fermentation, and had a few samples of their rye-based and corn-based whiskeys. I would gladly go again if I had a group of my friends.

Upon arrival we toasted with their Classic Old Fashioned and it was great way to start our visit. I really liked the history portion of this tour and “B” was a great tour guide. Restaurant
Blue Door Smokehouse is a popular BBQ joint in Lexington, known for its no-frills, counter-serve setting and delicious smoked meats. Established nearly a decade ago by two Lexington natives, it offers a variety of succulent smoked meats, classic sides, and sandwiches. The 'Blue Door Special' allows patrons to sample all the available proteins on any given day. This traditional American BBQ spot is perfect for those seeking authentic down-home cooking without the hassle of doing it themselves.
Food was seasoned well, cooked with care and delicious! Slaw with vinegar was tasty, I’d compare it to Smithfield’s Chicken N Bbq (southern US chain restaurant). Seating inside and outside.
Meaghan J — Google review
I got the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. The brisket was surprisingly only okay, pretty dry but not that bad. The sausage was average, not super flavorful. The potato salad had no seasoning at all, it was so bland and boring. The collared greens just tasted like straight vinegar and nothing else. Wish it was better considering all the great reviews.
Nancy G — Google review
Went here with my boyfriend and his brother. I got the pulled pork sandwich with creamy slaw. The meat itself was amazing! The slaw was kind of bland but still good. My boyfriend got the pulled pork plate with collard greens and ranch beans. He gave his food 9/10. And his brother got the brisket sandwich with ranch beans and gave it an 8/10. This is def an amazing bbq place that’s super affordable and I highly recommend it.
Amber S — Google review
This Smokehouse is a wonderful, somewhat hidden gem in the Lexington area. When this place is open and in stock of food, it is very tasty and is high quality barbeque food. The big downside, however, is the frequent shortages of food, as well as the hours that make it strictly a spot for lunch. Every time that I have been to Blue Door, I had to order something different than I had in mind while entering the place. This is because they ran out of what I had originally wanted. I understand why this may happen, however. And I am also happy that they do not blow up their prices to compensate for these shortages, so I will say thank you in that regard. Nonetheless, when this place has got the food, it is amazing and very filling. I love the sauces they put at the table, and they compliment the food greatly. The building itself also has a unique atmosphere as it has a great outdoor seating section, as well as big windows to get some sunlight. Overall, this place is great, and I enjoy every time that I am there with friends and family.
Justin O — Google review
Generally my opinion on BBQ is that there are only two levels of quality; good enough and not good enough. It reminds me of a lot of British meals in that respect. People talk about “the best fish & chips” or “the best roast”, but I’ve never really understood it. I’ve only ever had two types of those meals; one I’m enjoying continuing to eat, and one I’m not. With BBQ though, there are a few exceptions, and my binary perspective falls apart further when I haven’t eaten BBQ for a while. Enough of my hand wavy food philosophy! What I’m slowly digging at is, Blue Door is great. It’s not life-changing, but it’s safely in the great category. We got the 2-meat plate (sausage and brisket) with beans and vinegar slaw. The brisket is excellent, textbook melt-in-the-mouth beauty, the kind of thing that would take an Englishman off of his BBQ binary high horse. the sausage left a little bit of flavour and spice to be desired, the coleslaw was pretty good and the beans were great. The house-made sauces were varied, they have a nice vinegar-based one that we both loved, and the habanero sauce is a nice lil spicy surprise to inject just a touch of tex-mex into the meal. I’d go again when my BBQ-meter has reset.
Sam F — Google review
Keep in mind they only open til 3pm on weekdays and often brisket will run out. With that said beef brisket is the number one choice and they give you a nice health cut without hesitation. Baby back ribs is a good alternative. Their sides are a little basic. We visited them twice in three days in Lexington.

Thoroughbred Park, located at the intersection of East Main Street and Midland Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky, is a small but beautiful outdoor museum and cultural landmark. The park features a dozen life-size bronze statues of horses, including the thoroughbred stallion Lexington, as well as over 40 plaques dedicated to prominent figures in the Kentucky horse industry. Visitors can enjoy the serene water fountain and vibrant flower gardens while strolling through the park to admire the magnificent horse sculptures.
This is a fun stop on your way through Lexington. The statues are beautifully detailed, and the park is rich with the history of impactful individuals who shaped this industry. You can take a stroll around and see more statues and read these plaques. The park was quiet, and beautifully done.

The statues and fountain were neat to see. The problem we encountered while there was a family swimming in the fountain. They had their dog tied around one of the lights and all it did was bark while a little boy splashed everything. Then a lady that is with said boy gets in the water wearing only her bra and puts a kitten in to swim. All this is taking place under the do not swim sign. Then at the other end, there was a couple dry humping at the mini horse statue. The whole visit was a great family experience. There is a cool park right across the street we retreated to and spend about an hour there

Stunning sculptures await at Thoroughbred Park This park spans 2.5 acres, and is a tribute to the Thoroughbred industry. You can admire seven incredibly life-size bronze racehorses, all masterfully crafted by renowned artist Gwen Reardon. There are 42 plaques honoring industry legends as you stroll through the park. While the vicinity can be a bit challenging with parking, locals are welcoming. Nearby street parking is also available across the street in a gravel parking lot. Truly, it's a photo-worthy dive into history!

Founded by a passionate local couple, the museum features an impressive collection of over 5,000 objects, including works by renowned artists from around the world. Visitors can explore everything from old masters to contemporary pieces while also enjoying art workshops and creative writing challenges inspired by the collection.
This is a really great small museum, even though the primary building is currently closed for renovation. It is very accessible if you have limited mobility. Be sure and note the date and time of opening since it is limited. We went for a specific exhibit of works by Charley Harper. It was very well done. There’s also a very interesting shell grotto built from the collection of one of the original owners of the property. One of the highlights of the permanent collection were a series of very large doll houses from the 1960s owned by the Whitney family. Very intricately designed and furnished.

Truly loved this museum. Many beautiful things see in the jewelry room. We are big fans of Charley Harper so we were excited to see the large display of art. The rooms with mid-century furniture and Charley Harper art was a great idea. The room with miniature homes was amazing too. We also toured the grounds and house with the sea shell collection was amazing. It was a beautiful drive out to the museum.

Wonderful!! A perfect setting for a very large art exhibit. We saw Henry Faulkner’s art which I was unfamiliar with till I saw this exhibit. His art is kind of folk art which I always enjoy. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The drive there from Louisville is enjoyable except for the sun in your face from the east on the way and the sun in your face from the west on the way back. Lol The shell grotto is very into see also. Oh we were not allowed to take photos of the Faulkner exhibit or I would have taken some!

The University of Kentucky Art Museum boasts a diverse collection of art, featuring sculptures, decorative arts, paintings, and rotating exhibits. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions that showcase various forms of art. The museum is also known for its public art initiatives and street art festivals that bring internationally recognized artists to create large-scale murals in Lexington.
Just the right size for an art museum. It could be bigger, but they have an large number of exhibits that fit the space nicely, and I didn't get tired of art before I was done seeing everything. The current photograph exhibit is a bit weird to me (perhaps a bit forced) but also neat in its own way.
Sam S — Google review
We enjoy it every time we go there. The staff are friendly, the space nice and the exhibits varied. My kids like the elevator the best usually but we're working on that.
Steve H — Google review
The space was smaller than I expected (we visited without knowing anything about it) but I did enjoy a lot of the pieces that I saw. The front desk staff were friendly, and there is a small gift shop in the lobby area.

Very small museum, not a ton of art. They offer free Family Days periodically (once a month?). I've attended twice with my 10yo and 7yo kids. The first time was great, an employee discussed a few peices on display and told us about color theory, after which the kids mixed their own clay colors and made their own sculptures. The second time, a guy gave us blank paper and markers and told us to color. I'll give Family Day another try, but won't be visiting just to see the small collection.
Robyn S — Google review
Nice small gallery. Worth a visit.
Douglas A — Google review
One star, because they had a nice exhibit on pottery that was quite well done. But, in my opinion, the rest of the museum stunk. There was a large collection of photographs of pretty much nothing, most of the pictures looked like pictures you would take by accident and delete from your camera. Some of the artwork was vulgar, that's not art.
Duane P — Google review
Was not anything like we imagined. Very clean open and art was just not what we expected. There was some neat 1000+ year old pottery on display that was amazing. Took us 40 minutes to read what we wanted and restrooms were very clean as well.
David — Google review
Wonderful rotating exhibit areas change often, however; the permanent collection has faded over time and shows signs of serious deterioration/lack of proper care, which is quite disappointing. The entirety of the first floor smells...and smells very bad. I am not sure what the smell is exactly, but it smells....like....I don't know. It smells like urine. I don't know what else to say there, it is pretty rough. Small and lacking care. Pretty much a disappointment on my visit to KY.

I enjoy the New York style pizza at Grimaldi’s at Fritz Farm. My order is always the same: lunch special that includes a giant slice of pizza and a small chopped salad. Coal fired oven pizzas are the best way to cook a thin crust.pie. I guess a small tub of garlic butter would put my slice over the top, but I never think to order it. One of the few pizza restaurants in Lexington on that offers a salt shaker full of garlic powder to sprinkle on your pie. I know it’s not for everybody, but it works for me. I’m often baffled that there is not a heavy lunch crowd when I dine here. The $10.99 deal for a giant slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza, chopped or Caesar salad, and a drink is really a great deal on weekdays. It’s tasty and perhaps curbs my consumption to one slice. The cheese pizza does have the correct ratio of sauce to cheese. I can taste both with each bite. This is really a good pizza joint. The NYC vibe is fun, and even include great background music to enhance the experience. I try to dine here at least once or twice a month.

I’m not even kidding, half the time we don’t buy anything and we just come here to walk laps, grab food, and spend the afternoon just being there It’s definitely become my go to for spending weekends because is vibe is always amazing. My favorite store to shop in is Brandy Melville and i love the cute clothes they have. The outdoor area is also amazing for strolling and talking which is where a lot of my best memories with friends have been made. The combination of great food options and the perfect atmosphere is why we choose to spend so much time her. It’s clean, well lit, and they got every kind of food you could want. I give it five stars, though getting a decent parking spot on a busy Saturday hard but honestly its worth the fight for the parking spot

Definitely my favorite place around Lexington. Get your nails done, grab brunch with the girl's, or head to Blue Sushi for possibly the best quality sushi around (Happy Sushi is definitely up there too!). If you stop at Blue Sushi, get the hot rock steak appetizer, it's delishhhh!

The Summit is way over priced and over hyped. Not for everyone's budget. The stores/restaurants are always turning over probably due to high leases. Parking is a nightmare. The covered parking deck near Texas de Brazil is always taken up by the Henry residents, so it is slim pickings. The back parking lot is always got spots but not always close to where you want to go. The traffic in there is a nightmare. At the entrance Incoming traffic does not stop, but no one seems to get the memo, surprised there has not been a bad wreck. There are one ways that people drive the wrong way down, so as a pedestrian you better watch out. People run the stop signs constantly and the parallel parking - it is bad idea because the majority of the population cannot seem to figure out how to do it. Probably will not frequent the Summit after living in the back for 2 years I have seen enough. Nothing much there that I cannot live without. The security there is a joke. No one should feel safe just because they are lurking in their little truck or golf cart. Crime happens here too, don't let them fool you, they like to keep it hidden and preserve their high end shopping experience.

Brevede Coffee Co. is a charming coffee shop located in the Distillery District of Lexington, Kentucky. Owned by Viorika and Nik Kopets, the cafe has deep roots in Eastern Europe. The shop recently expressed its support for Ukrainian refugees and plans to collaborate with patrons to aid those affected by the crisis. Despite opening during the pandemic, Brevede Coffee Co. has become a beloved part of the local coffee scene and is known for its picturesque setting within the historic Distillery District.
I have never been to this location before, but I absolutely found a new favorite spot. I did not know the history or the background but since I have children in the Seattle area, it made me especially interested. I love Paalm 90:12 on the wall. Cool space and my Mexican mocha was excellent. Must read their “About” page.

We are traveling through the area and we always try to support local so we found this place. I absolutely loved it! Being a coffee shop owner myself i truly appreciated all this shop had to offer. Plenty of seating, great prices, great coffee and more. I can tell this shop truly appreciated the craft of coffee itself which is so refreshing. If you’re looking for a REAL coffee shop that trains their staff to appreciate the art of coffee this is your place. The staff was very kind and everything was clean and well done. Thank you Brevedé!
Melissa S — Google review
This place has such a cozy and trendy vibe. The atmosphere is great & there’s plenty of seating (tables & chairs along with sofas). I ordered an iced Miel with oat milk and it is seriously fantastic. My only complaint is that they only have 1 size (12 oz) which is a bummer because I could definitely consume about 30 oz of this delicious coffee. My husband ordered the cold brew & he’s really enjoying it. If you’ve read any of my other reviews then you’ll know that we make it a point to try different coffee shops across the US while we travel, so we know our coffee. The barista measured out the ingredients for the Miel, so you know that every time you go it will be deliciously consistent (such a problem at many coffee shops! Please, local coffee shops of America, stop eyeballing your drinks and measure. It ensures that your loyal customers get a great drink. Every time.) So glad Brevede has mastered this! I highly recommend and don’t think you’ll be disappointed in any capacity.

Had the creamiest tastiest cortado maybe ever? I was visiting from NYC and this place made Brooklyn coffee shops look bad. The sweetest young woman made my drink too! Beautiful environment. 11/10

Been in here a few times. The staff are always friendly and the seating options are many. I generally get their espresso which is great but also love the Cafe Miel. This location is quite large and lots of seating but they get quite busy and it can be pretty loud. If you’re looking to study. It can be a challenge. I am sure if you pick a good time that won’t matter.

Love the coffee shop atmosphere. It’s very pretty inside. I got a regular croissant and it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever tried!! the coffee I got was honey cinnamon latte with oat milk because it was highly recommended by a few of my friends. It was OK but the cinnamon was a little overpowering. Would try something else on my next visit. A good place for studying, but I would recommend headphones.

Super cute cafe! I love the interior and there are lots of tables. The cafe isn’t very loud, making it a great place to meet friends or get work done. The staff was very friendly and they have oat milk. Unfortunately, they don’t have any vegan food options, so I hope they will add that in the future.

Stopped by while i was visiting Lexington. This block is all fancy out of no where lolol but i vibing. This cafe has a huge space. I mainly saw students and family coming in and out. The noise is pretty up there but you can choose to sit in more quieter areas since this place is huge. Pastry was good. Cappuccino was good. It looks better in the photos in my opinion.

Stores every where. Walking distance. They have triangle park right in middle of downtown. There are tables for setting or eating. Shaded by trees. A huge water fountian surrounds half of the park. The noise of the water and park is very relaxing and peaceful. In the winter time the same park has a ice skating ring where ppl can ice skate. There is always something to do with the kids down there. Lexington is well known for there horses and all around very beautiful scenery outside of town. The air is fresh smelling and really opens up your sinus.

Horse breeder
Established in 1962 by Alice Headley Chandler, Mill Ridge Farm is a renowned horse breeding farm spanning 286 acres. The farm has a rich history, with its founder inheriting the land and four mares from her father, Hal Price Headley. Notably, the farm had a remarkable 57-year relationship with the Queen of England. Today, it continues to be managed by the family and offers tours where visitors can interact with champion thoroughbred horses.
What a great experience. Michelle did a winderful job sharing the history of the farm and the horses. Hands on with a few horses was really special. The beauty of the farm left a lasting impression.

Really great experience led by our guide Michelle. Really knowledgeable, very friendly. We were able to get up close to many beautiful horses with their foals (not the stallions of course). Fed the mares carrots, scratched/pet the babies. So much fun and interesting history & insights
Jonathan E — Google review
We decided to go on a horse tour, as we have been to Lexington several times and don’t much about horses or horse racing. We choose to tour Mill Ridge Farm. Our tour guide, Michelle was beyond amazing!!! It was a fairly small group (5 total). Michelle provided very detailed information about the horse industry, horses, and history of Mill Ridge Farm. She answered all of our questions. Michelle introduced us to the Stallions and then we got to feed carrots to the mares.i must add my favorite stallion is Oscar Performance…what a character! After the tour we purchased several items from the gift shop to show our appreciation of Mill Ridge Farm. This was one of the most informative tours I have ever taken. You could say she kept me on the edge of my saddle! Thank you Mill Ridge Farm and Michelle for hosting the tour and all the information we learned!

Mill Ridge Farm was such a great experience! The farm is beautiful, and getting to be around the horses up close was really special. Michelle was our tour guide and she was amazing. She is so friendly, easy to talk to, and knew so much. You can tell she loves what she does, and it made the whole tour even better. I’d definitely recommend this to everyone!

My family had a great time on our tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to go into great detail on what it takes to become a reputable horse breeder. This tour was also very family friendly as my 3 year old had a blast!

Our 90 minute group tour of the farm was a highlight of our trip to the Lexington area. Shay (sp?) provided a wealth of information about the history and horses associated with the farm. The property is beautiful and the multiple stops during the tour allowed guests the opportunity to interact with the gentle thoroughbred and feed them carrots! A must-do while in the area and we are glad we planned it into our travel.

Mill Ridge Farm was one of the highlights of our trip to Kentucky that exceeded my expectations. The farm itself was beautiful and well maintained. Our tour guide, Ryn, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The horses were absolutely amazing, and I had so much fun watching my children having an opportunity to feed and pet horses. We live in the city, so this meant so much to us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with or without kids. Thank you Mill Ridge Farm for such a unique and wonderful experience.

This tour was absolutely incredible. Michelle was the most amazing guide. 10 stars isn't enough for the knowledge, kindness and joy she brings to the tour. She was so informative with the history of the farm, the family and all the horses. She had all the answers to the verrrrry many questions I had and you could really tell she loved being there and part of the Mill Ridge family. The tour was so hands on and never felt rushed or forced. It was such a surreal experience to see award winning horses, feed them carrots, learn about their champion offspring and pet all the mares and babies. I got so many great pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. I started recommending the tour to my friends as soon as I got back into my car before I even left the farm. Loved it so much. Thank you!

I went on a Tuesday and they had brunch!! They do brunch during the week and it was great. The banana bread sharable was amazing and my friend got the frittata. I loved the poutine fries with brisket! Amazing cocktails to go with it. I was pleasantly surprised with the menu.

We had breakfast/brunch here on Saturday and it was outstanding. The biscuits and breakfast sandwiches are amazing. We also tried the yogurt and granola bowl with fruit and that was excellent as well. Their bacon is smoky, salty and perfect!! We will definitely be back when we're in town again. We also loved their drinks and service was kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Linda F — Google review
Located in the 21C hotel the Lockbox is Unique. The Baked feta appetizer was hands down the best part of the meal, even being the appetizer. The Bibb lettuce-apricot salad was very tasty, more for one person, not two. Easy yes for another to taste but not share. The lemon noodle main course, Herbed Tagliatelle and cornmeal dusted trout were not meals either of us would recommend. My husband was looking forward to the trout and was disappointed. I like lemon dishes and this was just not tasty. The pictures in the dining room are of Cabaret girls with their faces covered, wild animals being pet by children, and a man with both hands possibly cut off, wringing blood.. Art.. is in the eye of the beholder.. and conversation pieces… however we agreed strange pieces in a dining area. Connected was the 21C museum and we walked through it after dinner expecting to see quite a lot of pieces in the main exhibition hall. There was one. There were several scattered about on different floors but if you are expecting to see many pieces… you won’t.

Spectacular ambiance. Set in a high-ceiling room in what seems to have been a space designed and used by an old style bank, the eclectic artistic decor is well twinned with the delectable offerings. We ordered the lockbox share board, and that country classic, biscuits with gravy. The board came with pimento cheese and deviled egg spreads, country ham, house pickles, crackers and biscuits. We shared it all and savored every bite with some well-brewed fresh coffee. Very attentive staff. A pricey indulgence for breakfast, but certainly well worthwhile. Enjoy!

Server was kind person. Unfortunately, I’ve worked in the service industry for 6 years and when kitchen says hands you don’t let food sit(especially without a heat lamp) for twenty minutes to the point where you have to replate it before serving(open concept kitchen is beautiful but gets you with things like this). I believe this delay was caused by the drinks being late because I only received my food after my drink and after the other table received their food and drinks. I would have appreciated at least an apology for the late drink or late food. Great plating job by the kitchen tho and the drink tasted good.
Liana B — Google review
Everything, I mean EVERYTHING was 🤌🏿. All the selections the Lady hostess recommended were ON POINT. The Pamento Mac and cheese (I know it sounds crazy) was the most surprising and hardest to stop eating. The Oysters appetizers lasted all but 10 secs at the table after trying the 1st one, lol. Burgers and fries are hard to compare with others, but I will say theirs is Top Tier. Our server Adam was very welcoming and provided his own recommendations for their signature meals (Fettuccine with added Chicken). We came back the next night for Great drinks and enjoyed the evening ambiance. We had their banana Mule "my new favorite drink" and a Last word. It is walking distance within downtown to try other restaurants, sight see, and shop. Worth everything cent spent. This is a hidden Gem in Kentucky and worth a trip of your in the area. We will visit again. Also the restrooms are one the you have to see for yourself, lol.

Good was exquisite. The cocktail menu had too many amazing drinks to choose from. We decided to share our food amongst the table, and I would highly recommend doing this to ensure that we try all the delicious offerings. We loved our slow-paced dinner and plan to visit again soon.
Emily E — Google review
For an “upscale” restaurant, Lockbox was full of surprises - mostly the kind that make you double-check your purse for your EpiPen. One of our guests has a severe tree nut allergy, which we made crystal clear. Our waitress promptly brought out the nut-friendly menu. Great start, right? You’d think we were in good hands. Wrong. We ordered dirty martinis (the waitress seemed unfamiliar with this two ingredient drink) and the feta appetizer without almonds. Thirty minutes later, the appetizer arrived… topped with, you guessed it, almonds. Bold move for a dish that could’ve come with a complimentary ambulance ride. Meanwhile, our martinis were still MIA. After forty minutes (and a half-dozen “the bar’s just backed up” apologies) the waitress sprinted over to ask what our drink order was again. That was our cue to tap out. They did comp the potentially fatal appetizer, which was considerate. Two stars for that, and for providing one of the more memorable dining experiences we’ve almost survived.

Tow truck is $150 minimum !! 3 females trying to push a Tahoe !! Folks working at the Red Mile won’t even try to help us. Fortunately other patrons are in the mud and rain with us trying to help. I have never been treated so badly from a business such as this. I know I won’t be back if I can ever get out of this parking lot !!

Stopped by Red Mile on a Saturday night and had a great time overall. The place was buzzing but not chaotic, and there’s a wide mix of “slot-style” machines so it’s easy to bounce around and keep things interesting. Drinks were reasonably quick to arrive, and the place felt clean despite the crowds. Bottom line: if you’re looking for a lively weekend spot to play and maybe catch some races, Red Mile delivers.

The concerts and bands were really good. Mainly went for Red Clay Strays. I think you should allow people to bring small camping chairs as me and my wife both have rashes now from sitting in the grass at the event all day. Also the over serving of alcohol at the event kind of surprised me I saw so many people drunk by 3pm it was crazy. We were even worried about a guy who kept passing out and drooling from his mouth where he’d been over served and no one approached him

A beautiful old building in a horrific state of disrepair. How many years til it's condemned. The "artists" work inside is utter garbage, including actual garbage like framing an eaten Ramen pack. So, lacking in any real talent for art, you make just lazy crap and throw it up. And can't be bothered to care about the one real piece of art present the building.

We hooked up with a great outfit for this tour! Both the driver and tour guide boosted 90 yrs of involvement in the horse industry. We had NO IDEA how many BILLIONS OF DOLLARS is involved... We learned ALOT about the racing industry and it's set up. We got the history on what it means to be a Thoroughbred horse. We got up close and personal to about 20 different horses, taking care to stay separate from the stallions. We met several trainers, and a horse farms owner who gave her own take on the industry. It was fascinating to say the least. Our guides knew their stuff, and were greeted personally wherever we stopped. Now, we are dying to see some live racing!!! 👌👌👌

Visitors can explore engaging educational displays that provide insightful information about the history of Lexington. The museum's amiable reception staff are knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise with visitors. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about Lexington's past, a visit to LexHistory promises an enjoyable and enlightening experience.
Thought it was a good start... hope they get enough money to add more exhibits!

Today we visited the Lexington History museum. We felt that it was nice. We had fun but it was a little small. There was a lot of great information and some very nice antiques. I was disappointed that there were not more exhibits but the space is very small. There is a $10 admission fee. Given the size of the museum, I felt that was a little steep. However, they do have free days for school-age children and their guardian. Follow us for more great reviews™

I thought the house next door was part of the museum but it is not so you couldn't tour it. Had I known this prior to purchasing my ticket I would not have gone in. It's one room of a lot of reading. The person there was eating their lunch in the smell made me hungry so I wasn't too upset that it took me less than 30 minutes to go through the museum.

The LexHistory Museum is conveniently located in downtown Lexington, with the place being a house-like structure. Admission is not expensive, if older ask for the senior discount for it is not advertised. The museum is not very large, with all the displays on one floor. The educational exhibits are interesting and informative regarding the history of Lexington. The person at the reception is friendly and is versed in the history of the place. The origin of the town along with the history of horses is covered. This museum is worth the visit for the cost one is paying.
