Went for a dog show. Nice venue, clean. Rented stall for grooming space, that was great! Lots of room. Enjoyed seeing the horses showing and in pastures on way out. Lovely grounds! I noticed they have pony rides for kids and horses for adults, I assume for trail rides.

What a wonderful and relaxing experience! Being in Kentucky, home of The Kentucky Derby, my initial thought was that this place was strictly about the thoroughbred but I was so mistaken. They covered every type of horse, horse event, history of the lineage of horses, and so much more! It was truly a great and educational experience. Everyone was nice, professional, and encouraged us to ask questions and had plenty of answers. Such a rich history at this 1,200 farm, filled with horses to pet. A review doesn't do it justice. You need to experience this place. Everything was on a schedule (if you like structure as I do) and timed at a leisurely pace so you can get to the next event on time at a comfortable pace. Or you can experience it on your own schedule. So much h to do! This place needs to be on your bucket list. Entrance pricing is very reasonable and so are items at the gift shop. Make a day of visiting history!

When visiting the Kentucky Horse Park I have had nothing short of an amazing experience. The Horse Park is in a great and easily accessed location, being right off the highway. The Horse Park has a great show facility. The rings have good footing and are very spacious and well kept. The big grass cross country field is every horse persons dream. Along with the layout of the horse park is really nice with having the horse show on one half and the museum and other activities on the other side. The museum is very easy to get to and has tons of parking. It was also super fun to have the chance to meet the horses that live in the big barn and the people who care for them. It was super interesting to get to walk though the other side of the horse park because I spend most of my time horse showing there. The horse shows are always done so well having food trucks and plenty of fun thing to do other than show! Overall a great experience every time.

This is really a great place to get a feel for the Kentucky horse country as you're passing through. Can definitely spend two mornings there. If you try to make it one long day it'll probably be too much at one time! When you buy a ticket it's good for the second day also. You'll see all kinds of breeds of horses and there are several museums on-site, you can go for a reasonably priced nice horseback ride, there's scheduled events throughout the day for visitors to see. Very pretty, well done, worth visiting.

Absolutely loved our visit to the Kentucky Horse Park! It’s one of the most well-organized and family-friendly places we’ve ever been to. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and it’s very clear how much effort goes into making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. I was so impressed with how they use every barn in a creative way—you can tell they’ve thought about how to turn every part of the park into something entertaining and educational. The museum was a highlight too—super informative, well put together, and beautifully presented. But what stood out the most for me were the people. Everyone working there is incredibly passionate, kind, and genuinely seems to love what they do. They smile, they engage with visitors, and they talk about the horses like they’re family. It made the whole experience so warm. The horses themselves? Huge, clean, friendly, and so well cared for. My kids had the best time petting them, taking pictures, and just being around them. It felt like being on a peaceful, happy farm, and the weather made it even better. We really enjoyed being outside together as a family. One thing I really appreciated was how they honor the horses’ history and origins. They give credit to the countries and places that donated them, and everything is well documented with lots of interesting stories. It adds a deep, respectful touch to the whole experience. Truly, it’s a special place. A must-visit if you’re in Kentucky. So enjoyable from start to finish. 🐴🌿😊

Wow, just wow! What an amazing experience. I'm traveling from PA and this was a great opportunity to experience a wise variety of things for the day. From the museum, to horse rides and even learning about breeds. This was a fantastic day! I'm really glad I visited. You will not be disappointed!

Going to Kentucky Horse Park was a wonderful experience. The horses were beautiful, well cared for and we were able to pet them. Terrific people available to explain about the horses and answer questions. The museum was filled with all sorts of plaques and various horse-related items. Sandwiches were good at the cafe but I'd pass on the French fries next time. All-in-all a great day trip.

The nature center was small but the lady working was very helpful with the trail maps. The trails we walked were well kept but still very natural. Easy walks for kids. Not good for strollers. Highly recommend though, really nice place.

This park has always been one of my favorites, so it's crazy that it is my son's first time going. He attended camp here for a day and had the best time. The park is just so beautiful, teeming with wildlife and flora. He enjoyed sampling a few wild blackberries. There are fields, forest, and streams. Truly a beautiful slice of Kentucky. No pets allowed in order to protect the environment.

This place is awesome. A ton of great trails. Beautiful, quiet, serene. The place is super well taken care of and the maps are easy to real. Check out their FB page or the visitor center to get a schedule of events.

I went to ravens run on Friday for the first time in a while. I decided to do one of the shorter trails since I didn’t have very much time, but it was definitely still worth it. The trails are very nice there, and it felt good to be able to throw on some music and just walk on the trails for a bit. I think the best thing about Ravens Run is the number of trails they have, and how they are all different from each other. Some of the trails are a lot longer and harder, and the other ones are shorter and a lot easier. Another one of my favorite things about this place is how peaceful it is. Being able to walk on the trails and see all of the gorgeous views and hear the sounds of nature is definitely worth it. I highly recommend that everyone visits here.

Not too crowded, and very gorgeous! We hiked about 6 miles and barely ran into anybody, even though the parking lot was completely full. They have many different trails with different lengths, and everything loops around, so you can't get too lost.

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is an absolute gem in Lexington, but I will warn you to be ready to actually hike. The trails are well maintained; however, there are steep inclines along with uneven terrain making it harder for young kids or older individuals if they aren’t properly prepared. However, if you do go, all the trails are absolutely beautiful and there is a ton of variety, I highly recommend the trails that end up at the Kentucky River overlook because the view is absolutely stunning. However, if you are lucky enough to go there right after a big storm you might even be lucky enough to see their waterfalls, but unfortunately if it was a drier week there likely wouldn’t be any water flow. When I went, I got there around the middle of the day and there was still plenty of parking and I didn’t see anyone else on the trails, I also went into the visitor's center and the people in there were extremely helpful and gave my friend and I amazing recommendations for a trail to go on. Overall, if you are looking for a more intense set of trails, I recommend checking out Raven Run.

They have so many neat and historical exhibits on display here. They have exhibits from the early days of aviation to modern exhibits. All of them are very fascinating and educational. There's many military and commercial aviation exhibits on display. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The location next to the airport means you can watch smaller aircraft takeoff.

Lots of fascinating aircraft and related exhibits on display to enjoy. I had a wonderful conversation with local retired military pilot who flew helicopters and was there every Wednesday to talk to guests. Kids can sit inside several aircraft as well. Only complaint was how warm it was inside the hangers. It was uncomfortable.

I visit Lexington several times a year and finally gave myself a few hours to tour the museum. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I engaged in conversation with one of the tour guides for a little while about the CF6 display engine. Great variety of static displays with many decades of aviation history represented. I need to revisit so that I can take in more of the smaller displays that I missed. I would like to see a little better variety of items for sale at the gift shop though. Overall, at least 4 stars experience. Give yourself probably 3 to 4 hours to take your time and take it all in.

This place had quite a few planes but also a lot of historical memorabilia and information. People who are into aviation, aviation history, and war history will find this place very engaging. They also had activities for small children and some cockpits that you could sit in and manipulate the controls. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You are close enough to the planes to touch them which is uncommon and places like this. I think it is well worth a visit.

Had a great time. We were able to get into a helicopter and a small trainer plane. My boys, ages 5 & 11, would have spent all day. There are nice chairs and seats for the videos while the kids played. Highly recommend

Very nice indoor facility with two large areas with both more modern and vintage aircraft. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of displays, artifacts, and information. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area and an aircraft enthusiast.

Traveled for work and this was my only personal stop before leaving and it was a wonderful stop. Got a lovely tour around, you can tell the gentleman giving the tour was passionate and loved to learn as much as he could about planes/helicopters (and other topics, a great space section A great stop. Fascinating tour and introduction to the world of horse racing. I had no idea as to the complexity and tradition behind this historical way of life. You can walk through on your own but I would not have gained the appreciation for all that goes into this organization had it not been for the tour and our gracious guide, Carol Sue.

Awesome place for kids on saturdays in October! 8a-10a it’s FREE, watch the horses practice! Kids games, arts and crafts, fun giveaways, stickers, concessions, good place to relax, chill and enjoy the track! They have the headless horseman walking the concourse once during that time! I loved having the opportunity to view of these beautiful horses exercising. They are awesome athletes that deserve huge respect. The facility is beautiful and our guide gave lots of great information and track history. Would definitely recommend.

What a fun day trip! Tips for visiting: 1. There are guys that will teach you how to read the program and how to make smart bets. 2. Wait to see the horses and the jockey before you bet. They will walk outside the betting area. Get a vibe for how they are doing today. 3. You can bet $1+ for any race. Bring cash. 4. They will ask you, what race, and what horse number, and how much your bet. Look at your ticket, to make sure they have you what you paid for. I trusted the person heard me correctly and it was the wrong horse. I was upset, but I also should have looked at my ticket. 5. You can bet for a horse to “Win” (1st place), or “show”1st, 2nd, or 3rd). I enjoyed betting to win on a long shot who looked good or had a solid name, and then bet on a horse with solid trainers/ owners and better odds to place. Find your own rhythm, but this was exciting to me and I won twice.

As long as you like horseracing ,it's a very neat place to see, even better when they are racing... We saw the whole track, winner's circle, store, bleachers etc. Our visit was topped off with an appeal of many of the horses doing morning workouts. Our host provided numerous insights as to how rCes, warmups, etc were conducted and had us some history on the park as well . FASCINATING!!! 👌👌👌

Keeneland is a premier thoroughbred race facility. Always a great time. Try out the track kitchen and watch some early morning works. You will not be disappointed.

The Mary Todd Lincoln House is a spectacular historic house. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint was that the guided tours are only after 3 pm. So, unfortunately, we did the self guided tour.

A great find! Imagine, finding such a gorgeous house along the main road amongst new modern places. The Mary Todd Lincoln House! They were closed the day we came through, but we were able to check out the exterior and look through the bricked fence at the floral courtyard. The stately brick manor looks especially beautiful with the black shutters. I can just picture the family living here and tending to their everyday life inside their home and in the garden area. We hope to make our way back to KY during open hours to tour the interior. Admission fee for self guided/guided tours. Active military discounts and live performances. Good for kids. Gift shop available. Open Monday-Saturday (Closed Sundays) 10am-4pm *wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot. Onsite parking and paid street parking.

My wife and I did the self-guided tour. After a thorough introduction by the staff member, we went through the home. Each room was well-identified and the provided (written) description of the room was complete. The gift shop had a broad selection of items at reasonable prices. The staff members were very friendly!

A nice visit with history. Outside gardens were wonderfully designed. The house has been restored and retains the structure of the original Todd home. I felt the admission was worth supporting the mission of the building and enjoyed the gift shop.

Located in the literal heart of downtown Lexington Kentucky is this wonderful historical sight. The docents are very knowledgeable. Extremely interesting to look into the past of the early 1800s. Both the interior and exterior are very well presented and maintained. We enjoyed the "backyard" garden. We highly recommend this niche of Americana. The tour is very well done. Must see.

First time here with family just to look at the cherry blossoms and geese. . Cemetery is huge once inside cherry blossoms were quite in full bloom yet maybe in another 2 weeks but it was a fantastic experience make sure to take lots of pictures. . Cherry blossoms located closer to the middle end sections 47-48 to the left and you can park on the right or further down on the left plenty of space to get your steps in and bring your dog

This cemetery is massive and there are mosoleums, grave stones, monuments and a few underground tombs.make sure to stop in at the office and get the map and pamphlets. The Clay Henry monument and grave is massive. Well worth the visit.

Love this cemetery. Many old and gorgeous tombstones. Beautiful scenery, lovely ducks/geese. Henry Clay's monument is stunning and perhaps my favorite one that I discovered showed Jesus raising up a man from his grave. Spectacular! Well worth a day's visit.

Beautiful cemetery with well-kept grounds. It was perfectly scenic for a peaceful morning walk. Really enjoyed my time here, and look forward to returning. There is some kind of commercial property toward the back of the grounds (I couldn't tell if it belongs to the cemetery or is a another business), but cars were speeding through the grounds to get to this location. Just something to be mindful of if you're planning a visit.

Lexington cemetery is really beautiful. They have signs on the edge of certain sections that tell you, you are at the grave of someone famous or very important to Kentucky history. Not all famous have those signs. The reason I kept it from 5 stars is the speed limit. 20 mph is way too fast in a cemetery. Speed limit should be around 10, maybe 15. 20 is too fast and people walk around the cemetery with their pets and people don't slow down when passing another vehicle. Can't tell you how many times I encounter an unsafe vehicle at the cemetery during my visit.

We were in Lexington this past weekend for a concert and drove past a cemetery about a mile from our downtown hotel. The next morning as we were leaving town, we decided to spend a little time going through the cemetery. It was the last weekend in October so it was absolutely beautiful. Such rich history and includes the tombs of Henry Clay, the Todd family (Lincoln’s in-laws), and Coach Rupp of Kentucky basketball fame. It also had a national cemetery within its borders as well as an arboretum. If you love old cemeteries, this is a wonderful location to visit if you were in the Lexington area.

One of the most beautiful cemeteries in the entirety of Kentucky! It is really well kept, and has great scenery. There is the large Henry Clay memorial which has got to be over 200 feet! There is also some veterans tombs, and really old stonecaps!

@Aug.2025 Located in the city, easy to access, nice place to take a little walk. Most of the trails are paved and very easy to walk. The first little pond shines in beautiful blue when it’s sunny. There are enough parking spots and welcome center has a bathroom.

McConnell Springs Park is an absolutely gorgeous part of Lexington. I walked into the welcome center fairly early in the morning (right after they opened) and was greeted with super kind staff members that asked if I had any questions. Overall, very friendly staff. The stone walls, log cabin, and bridge were all absolutely stunning and very well built. There were so many turtles in the lake that were just chilling on the logs and swimming around, there was also a really pretty bird I saw chilling by the water watching for fish. The trails are very child friendly, but if you are looking for a more challenging hike, McConnell Springs probably isn’t for you because all of the trails are very wide and well maintained, making them quite easy to navigate. The blue hole was another thing that was definitely worth a visit; the water was very clear and pretty to look at, and at each of the stops along the trail with cool sights, they had helpful signs to tell you what you were looking at. Overall McConnell Springs Park is very pretty and worth a visit if you’re just looking for a non-strenuous stroll in the woods.

Anytime I need to clear my head, McConnell Springs Park is one of the top places that comes to mind. If you're local to Lexington, you definitely need to check it out. It's a hidden gem located in a seemingly industrial area, but once you arrive, you'll start to feel submerged in nature. There's about 25 acres but the actual path is approx 1-2 miles worth of walking. Only downside (for me personally)--no dogs allowed. It's a very peaceful stroll with several areas worth stopping to see. Fun fact: McConnel Springs is a historic site where Lexington was first named by a pioneer, dating back to 1775!

McConnell Springs Park is truly a secret spot! It’s in the middle of an industrial area so you would never expect to find such beauty tucked away in the midst of it all. It’s definitely a peaceful escape, with well maintained, easy to navigate walking trails and natural springs that are truly beautiful, the park is definitely worth the trip! I find the scenery to be quite relaxing..especially as the weather cools a bi. The park also highlights the historic significance of the park! The only thing I find to be a con of the park is that it doesn’t allow pets, this isn’t a deal breaker for me as my animals are back home in Louisville, but I do wish all parks were pet friendly, even though I understand why it’s not. The whole space is well cared for and clean both by workers and volunteers alike. While nature is enough to keep me coming back, they also host events like poetry under the trees! McConnell Springs is definitely worth the visit!

This park is a great size for kids. You can get all the way to the end in 10 minutes if you wanted to or spend hours walking around. The springs are really cool, tons of wild flowers, a play area for kids, and a visitor center with bathrooms. There’s a picnic area too if you want to bring a lunch.

Always well kept and clean and fun to walk and explore! SAFE for my kids and very educational. Beautiful place

I absolutely love coming here and taking a few moments to appreciate what exactly makes Lexington such an amazing little place. Standing quietly amongst the wild flowers and little shaded trails, listening to the water, birds chirping and the industrial complex together is just a really cool thing to experience. It's been a helpful spot to take my kids as a reminder that we can utilize some resources while protecting others. They love watching the turtles bask and it's helped them appreciate the "cuteness" of all earths critters 😅

Waveland historical plantation house in Lexington, Kentucky, was a very nice visit. The guide was a young woman dressed in period clothing. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a toss between Waveland and Ashland, which was the best to us. We love them both for different reasons. The history is deep and rich.

Simply beautiful. We catered two weddings there in a month. The venue is gorgeous and perfect for events. They have a building for bathrooms and a barn! Finally took a tour and the lively lady brought the entire family and estate to life. Do not miss this when in Lex!

Our tour of Waveland was amazing. Kennedy was fantastic. She took time to answer questions and was very personable. We arrived at a time that is usually between tours but Kennedy took her own personal time to give us a tour. She was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Thank you Kennedy.

Waveland art fair is what we attended. Lots of cool vender and some food trucks picked up so good stuff.

The home and tour are an excellent step back in time to learn more about our early history in a beautiful setting. Be sure to say hi to Susan Miller the Interpreter. Her book is on sale there and contains many beautiful photographs with detailed descriptions.

Historic site by Daniel Boone's relatives. Tour inside was not available at my hour of visit but grounds are open from dusk to dark. Playground, gardens, and some unique buildings. Fitting tribute to the enslaved people who helped build and run that place.

Really great experience led by our guide Michelle. Really knowledgeable, very friendly. We were able to get up close to many beautiful horses with their foals (not the stallions of course). Fed the mares carrots, scratched/pet the babies. So much fun and interesting history & insights

We decided to go on a horse tour, as we have been to Lexington several times and don’t much about horses or horse racing. We choose to tour Mill Ridge Farm. Our tour guide, Michelle was beyond amazing!!! It was a fairly small group (5 total). Michelle provided very detailed information about the horse industry, horses, and history of Mill Ridge Farm. She answered all of our questions. Michelle introduced us to the Stallions and then we got to feed carrots to the mares.i must add my favorite stallion is Oscar Performance…what a character! After the tour we purchased several items from the gift shop to show our appreciation of Mill Ridge Farm. This was one of the most informative tours I have ever taken. You could say she kept me on the edge of my saddle! Thank you Mill Ridge Farm and Michelle for hosting the tour and all the information we learned!

Mill Ridge Farm was such a great experience! The farm is beautiful, and getting to be around the horses up close was really special. Michelle was our tour guide and she was amazing. She is so friendly, easy to talk to, and knew so much. You can tell she loves what she does, and it made the whole tour even better. I’d definitely recommend this to everyone!

My family had a great time on our tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to go into great detail on what it takes to become a reputable horse breeder. This tour was also very family friendly as my 3 year old had a blast!

Our 90 minute group tour of the farm was a highlight of our trip to the Lexington area. Shay (sp?) provided a wealth of information about the history and horses associated with the farm. The property is beautiful and the multiple stops during the tour allowed guests the opportunity to interact with the gentle thoroughbred and feed them carrots! A must-do while in the area and we are glad we planned it into our travel.

Mill Ridge Farm was one of the highlights of our trip to Kentucky that exceeded my expectations. The farm itself was beautiful and well maintained. Our tour guide, Ryn, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The horses were absolutely amazing, and I had so much fun watching my children having an opportunity to feed and pet horses. We live in the city, so this meant so much to us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with or without kids. Thank you Mill Ridge Farm for such a unique and wonderful experience.

This tour was absolutely incredible. Michelle was the most amazing guide. 10 stars isn't enough for the knowledge, kindness and joy she brings to the tour. She was so informative with the history of the farm, the family and all the horses. She had all the answers to the verrrrry many questions I had and you could really tell she loved being there and part of the Mill Ridge family. The tour was so hands on and never felt rushed or forced. It was such a surreal experience to see award winning horses, feed them carrots, learn about their champion offspring and pet all the mares and babies. I got so many great pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. I started recommending the tour to my friends as soon as I got back into my car before I even left the farm. Loved it so much. Thank you!

A must see for anyone that admires horses...especially racehorses. Silver Charm turned down shredded carrots and doesn't have many teeth yet, so if you want to visit him, go soon. Touch Gold is the same age. Lava Man looks fantastic. The tours are informative and give you a chance to feed carrots to your horse heros.

This is a very special place that truly lights your soul. These horses, Derby winners or not, they are ALL incredible and Old Friends offers us the privilege to say “hello” and engage with them all the same. The horses welcome visitors and we are provided with the opportunity to feed them carrots or Mrs. Pastures cookies. The horses are grateful and graceful with all visitors. We visited five days ago and I cannot stop wishing we were able to be back there in those special moments with those “Old Friends”. Great for your heart, good for your soul and they now sell whiskey to take home ;)

If you love horses or horse racing or just walking on beautiful grounds you have to go here. Multiple famous horses are enjoying their retirement here and you can feed them carrots what's not to love? Our guide was super informative and did a great job telling us the history. My favorite part though was getting to know their personalities. I really loved Lavaman I'll have another and alpha (who deserves the hall of fame ) but every one of them is a very good boy and deserving of all the carrots. Couple of things you don't meet the mares. Wear comfy walking shoes or boots and leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy the farm. Cute little gift shop there too. Highly recommend as a must do attraction.

I am a life-long racing fan and Old Friends is the promised land. A place I happily drive a few hours to spend time with the heroes of my youth and not-so-distant past. Derby winners Silver Charm, I'll Have Another and Big Brown top the roster as famous retirees, but the real gems can be found on a private tour with the founder of the farm, Michael Blowen. On our most recent visit, we visited with Green Mask, Awesome Gem, Bold and Bossy (a truly amazing horse), and the last horse bred by Secretariat's owner, Penny Chenery - Groundshaker. A recent addition to the farm is a continuous loop video of Old Friends residents running their races - home stretch after home stretch - showing the athleticism and heart of these magnificent creatures. A wonderful, peaceful place to visit. I highly recommend you visit here if you like horses or even if you don’t, it’s still very interesting. They have a lot of former winners here. Loved it.

Charlie Brown was our tour person. He was outstanding, so knowledgeable and lotsa personality. Meeting all the “Old Friends” was a treat in itself. We were fortunate to be on a golf cart. Great place to find out what there all is in Lexington - where to stay, eat and what to see. The staff is super friendly and very informative. Lots of maps and brochures available. Also, the building is fun and their new LEX sign was just installed outside which is perfect for photos.

Came in to the visitor center, upon walking in while the two people behind the front desk were talking and chitchatting, and as soon as entered they went into complete silence, never greeted me, never asked if they could help me. I honestly felt like I was bothering them every time I asked about something. The guy was looking on his cell phones the entire time. I really felt uncomfortable, I bought a couple of things from the gift store and they still didn't say anything to me. I did not feel very welcome for this being a visitor center. (I believe the lady's name was Debby and the guy didn't have a name badge on, but he was younger with his hair, pulled back in a ponytail) Visit center was small but nice.

If you were visiting Lexington, definitely stop in and get some information from the visitor center. They have adorable local things for sale, You can smell different Bourbons, and take a picture with the Lexington horse. The staff was so friendly and we felt so welcomed. #sharetheLEX

The friendliest, most welcoming and informative visitor center I have ever been to!

The statues and fountain were neat to see. The problem we encountered while there was a family swimming in the fountain. They had their dog tied around one of the lights and all it did was bark while a little boy splashed everything. Then a lady that is with said boy gets in the water wearing only her bra and puts a kitten in to swim. All this is taking place under the do not swim sign. Then at the other end, there was a couple dry humping at the mini horse statue. The whole visit was a great family experience. There is a cool park right across the street we retreated to and spend about an hour there

Very nice and life like. Parking can be hard to find. However there is more space behind the statues.

Stunning sculptures await at Thoroughbred Park This park spans 2.5 acres, and is a tribute to the Thoroughbred industry. You can admire seven incredibly life-size bronze racehorses, all masterfully crafted by renowned artist Gwen Reardon. There are 42 plaques honoring industry legends as you stroll through the park. While the vicinity can be a bit challenging with parking, locals are welcoming. Nearby street parking is also available across the street in a gravel parking lot. Truly, it's a photo-worthy dive into history!

This is a tiny little park located at the intersection of a busy road. It is worth a stop though to check out the beautiful statues of the jockey ridden horses.

Really cool little scenic park to take pictures of statues and read about some of the all-time great people in the racing industry. Kids love to splash in the fountains or run up and down the grassy hill behind the fountains.

Nice Peaceful park where you can go read a book and relax. There is a coffee shop rite beside the park. Benches are provided. However, there are some homeless folk who hang out here as well (just in case you have some type of aphobia) For the most part they won't bother ya!! Enjoy!!

Gorgeous sculptures! The horses were super realistic. The neighborhood was a bit rough, but everyone we encountered was friendly. Parking could be a bit difficult, but street parking is available nearby.

Great to visit a local art space that is also dedicated to community education. So glad this exists!

We visited on 5/29 around 2-4p. Lady at ticket area was a bit snooty and curt in her demeanor as all four of us in our small group confirmed afterwards. Pricey IMO ($25). No discounts offered other than AAA members. Our tour guide was awesome!

This place is a real gem, with a beautiful garden and a peaceful area for relaxation amidst the trees. There’s a small parking lot, a gift shop, and a cafe all nestled in historic buildings on the estate. It seems like the main house is only accessible during tours. The garden was absolutely lovely and well-maintained, with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the estate’s beauty.

Really cute space- but NOT Henry Clay's home. They do take AAA discounts and student discounts for admission. It was his son who tore the house down and rebuilt it. The guide spent 20 minutes of us just standing in the entry way giving is history. I recommend they put that on video for folks to watch so we don't have to just stand as they take up time rambling on. I could hear others in the group talking and meandering and the guide doesn't get that talking gets old after about 7 minutes. Each room had neat stuff- but again this isn't a history Chanel show that I'm watching and because of the small space can't even see the faces of the folks mentioned. If someone has to use the restroom they have to be escorted through the house and we had 2 in our group that needed restrooms at about the 1 hour mark: which meant they had to call someone each time. Our guide was a little overzealous and mentioned numerous times she was "worried" something would be ruined on the tour. If you need an elevator there is not one and the steps in and out are old and somewhat steep in spots. Some items are said to belong to Henry, and they kept mentioning enslaved . A nice pics of history. Glad I got discount tickets. Not worth $25 adult price within a discount though. Grounds are lovely.

Wonderful tour. Our guide, a volunteer, clearly loved what she was doing. You could see that she was very proud of Henry Clay as an important statesman in the history of the United States. She was so full of knowledge about his life and the artifacts we were looking at, I left feeling like I knew a lot more about the Clay family. It was a great stop to make in Lexington. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I would suggest to future visitors, is to check the tour time schedule. They aren’t very often and I had to wait for about an hour to start my tour.

Loved my visit to Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate. Our guide made the history feel alive, and the house itself is beautiful with tons of little details to notice. I strolled the shady grounds afterward—peaceful paths and giant trees made it easy to linger. Friendly staff, easy parking, and absolutely worth a stop in Lexington.

Visited for a bourbon tasting. The food and drinks from The Commonwealth Bash are not standard here of course but it is a beautiful spot with a lot of history. The huge trees are beautiful too and it’s a nice shady area

Went over the weekend and had a fantastic time! Our tour guide (Demetrius) was very knowledgeable about the house, and had a great personality that added so much to an already great tour. The house itself has an interesting history, and has connections to many major historical figures both inside and outside of the Hunt-Morgan family. Tour was $12 a person for adults and took about an hour and a half. Highly recommended!

Great historic house in Lexington, KY. We arrived at 11:00 only to discover the next tour was not until 1:00. Fortunately, the Hopemont House had brochures for a walking tour of the historic district. Great way to kill some time. Paul, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and its occupants. We enjoyed our visit and recommend a stop if you are in the area.

My family and I had a fabulous tour of Hopemont yesterday. Our guide, Paul, was so interesting and informative. Because we were the only people on the tour, we had the luxury of having him all to ourselves. He took his time, explaining so much about the history of the families who lived in the home, the process of hemp production, the Civil War and slavery as they pertained to the Hunts and the Morgans. The house itself is lovely, with many impressive architectural details like the winding staircase and the second story palladian window. It is furnished with a few important family treasures and a variety of handsome period pieces. If you have a love for historic house museums, please put Hopemont on your list to visit. Gorgeous places like this require a lot of upkeep. Whether or not the unique story they can tell will be available for another generation to enjoy depends on the patronage of the public.

Really enjoyed seeing this house and learning about the history of it. This is a gorgeous and well kept-up historical location in the middle of downtown Lexington. The guide was extremely personable and answered our many questions. This is definitely a hidden gem worth checking out!!

This historic home is a must to visit. It is also a beautiful event venue, one of our favorites to cater! The home is amazing, there is a private lot for out door use, and a formal garden that is breath taking. The remodel on the kitchen is a catering dream!

I enjoyed an entertaining, informative tour of the Hunt-Morgan house on July 11, 2018. Thanks to Betty (who led the tour) for the tour and for patiently answering my numerous questions. According to Betty (as well a brochure about the house and a historical marker), the house was built in 1814. She said it has been restored to look much as it did in 1814. She added that thanks to donations from family members over the years, the house now contains many original family furnishings. Regular tours are conducted on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m., as well as Saturday 10 a.m.-3p.m. from April through October according to a sign posted outside the house and a free brochure about the house. Betty said that depending upon the weather there may also be some regular tours conducted in March. But she said the house doesn’t heat very well. I took the tour scheduled for 2 p.m., which started a bit late as we waited for another tour to finish. There were only three persons on my tour (myself and a couple). I feel this gave us a better opportunity to see things and ask questions, so I felt privileged to be part of a small tour. My tour began some minutes after 2 p.m. and lasted about an hour, including the time for questions from me and the other two persons on the tour. The building includes a small gift shop, which is where tours begin. The entrance hall, impressive staircase, chandeliers, furniture, paintings, china sets, etc., offered much to see during the tour. Near the entrance is a display about the history of hemp in Kentucky. The hemp industry is where John Wesley Hunt who had the house built made most of his money according to Betty. The second floor includes a room devoted to a Civil War Museum. This room includes some items that belonged to Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, grandson of John Wesley Hunt. The great grandson of John Wesley Hunt, Thomas Hunt Morgan PhD, a researcher in genetics who was awarded a Nobel Prize, was born in this house. And Dr. Morgan’s own home is near this house. The tour included the first and second floor. The third floor (which may have been a children’s dormitory according to Betty) and the basement (where the kitchen was) were not part of the tour. But the nearby carriage house was included in the tour. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the outside of the house, including the garden. After my tour I walked through the garden. I also looked through windows into the inside of the nearby house that had belonged to Thomas Hunt Morgan. The tour of the Hunt-Morgan house costs $12.00 for adults. But at the Lexington Visitors’ Center (which is now located in the Old Courthouse) persons can purchase tickets to tour this house and three others (Mary Todd Lincoln House, Ashland home of Henry Clay, and Waveland) for one price of $25. I actually purchased my ticket last year when the Visitors Center (then about a block from where it is now) sold those tickets for $20, with a year to visit all four sites. Even at $25, I think it’s a good value. The Hunt-Morgan house is conveniently located in downtown Lexington just a couple of blocks north of Main Street. The Gratz Park area where the house is located also contains some other historic buildings that can be seen from the outside though they are not available for tours. I think persons interested in the history of the 1800s will enjoy touring this house.

New models, unique structures, well-spaced, high-quality park. The splash pad is the same, really nice. Not terribly far from anywhere in Lexington, and quite a bit less crowded than some of the others. Would like to check out more of the park lands, seems expansive and awesome

SO MUCH SPACE! Huge fields, large unique fun playground. Splash area. Nice large restrooms. Great spot for events such as the Kite Festival, which is what we went to today. Several covered pavilions. We will have to come back when it is warmer to play in the water. Love this park!

Love the beautiful space and the trees and grass. ONLY wish you could let your dogs run free at the park beside the fenced-in area. They have horseback riding so I understand.

Great walking and small hiking trails in the middle of town .. its my favorite trail in Lexington so far. It's not long but it's a great daily jog trail. There is different places to hike and some are close to the creek. Cicadas are horrible though when it's cicada season!

This park is dear to my heart with plenty of activity and healthy happy people around. I’ve gone to this park for over a decade now and when my children were very young and we would often hike down to the creek Skip rocks and fish. My last trip was just as equally as special as they all have been. We even got to see a bunch of snakes. Here is my son skipping stones. It’s such a pleasure to have something so close and available to enjoy.

Great place to let the kids play. Many playgrounds. Clean, well maintained, sidewalks. Mountain bike paths by the creek. Baseball fields, Frisbee golf course. Walk your dog, go for a jog, or just rest and relax. This park is awesome.

I have frequented this park for years. This is now one of my least favorite places to walk. Between the park allowing motorized scooters on the walking paths, the off leash dogs everywhere, the mountain bikers are rude and think they own the trails was told this evening while walking I wasn't allowed to be walking because its reserved for mountain bikers 🤣 just another park tainted by lexingtons finest trash. Do yourself a favor and avoid this park.

Enjoyable, informative and comprehensive tour. Highly recommended when in Lexington which is renowned as the "Horse Capital of the World" because of its rich history in thoroughbred breeding and racing. We visited several farms each with its unique role in the industry. Our tour guide Tim has a wealth of knowledge and experience He gave us clear and detailed information and answered all our questions. He was very friendly and personable. We could also interact with the horses in a safe manner. The van was comfortable and the scenery was beautiful. A must do tour when in Lexington.

We had a great tour with Daniel on Wednesday, September 17. He was fun and informative and a wealth of knowledge on horses, farms, and the Lexington area. He was so friendly and courteous. He also had us laughing most of the time. We visited Keeneland and two horse farms. The tour was well worth the cost! Bottled water was provided. They do have restrooms in their office and restrooms at Keeneland. I would highly recommend this company if you are in the area and looking for a backroads tour of the farms and horses in Lexington. We had a fantastic time at Thoroughbred Heritage Horse farm Tours with our guide, Daniel! The tour was both informative and engaging from start to finish. We visited some of the most stunning horse farms, got to pet yearling horses, toured a breeding barn, and even watched horses training at the Keeneland Racetrack. Despite the overcast weather, the scenery was still beautiful, and the experience was incredibly enjoyable. The drive through the picturesque horse farm neighborhoods added an extra touch of charm to the day. We highly recommend Daniel and this company — a truly memorable experience!

We had a great tour. See the backside of Keenland as well as just walking into the winners circle there was awesome. Nicholas Newman gave us so much insight into the culture and history. Seeing the mares and foals up close and personal. Stallion and the breeding. Beautiful countryside. We loved it.

We hooked up with a great outfit for this tour! Both the driver and tour guide boosted 90 yrs of involvement in the horse industry. We had NO IDEA how many BILLIONS OF DOLLARS is involved... We learned ALOT about the racing industry and it's set up. We got the history on what it means to be a Thoroughbred horse. We got up close and personal to about 20 different horses,taking care to stay separate from the stallions. We met several trainers, and a horse farms owner who gave her own take on the industry. It was fascinating to say the least. Our guides knew their stuff, and were greeted personally wherever we stopped. Now, we are dying to see some live racing!!! 👌👌👌

@July.2025 Although the trail is clear and easy, there are some branch trails and hard to know which is the main trail. There are steep slopes on the way to the falls, so it’s better to wear sturdy shoes. The falls are very beautiful and worth visiting. Half an hour one way to the falls but it seems trail continues further along.

A hidden gem- but you’ll have to break the rules to get the most out of your hike. I personally try to follow rules, but a state park is land I paid for as a taxpayer and I feel some ownership in my right to do some exploring, so long as I cause no damage and leave nothing behind. Following that mindset, the beauty of this park is all off the trails. From the entrance, just keep hanging right and eventually you will find a few small paths that lead to the creek after the meadow (you can literally hear it). Once on it, continue down the creek (the way the water is flowing) and within about 1/2 mile you will pass three waterfalls. Many people go this path and there are established foot paths but be aware if it’s wet out it will be very slippery and potentially dangerous. If you have a good dry day- you’re in for a heck of a treat. Just be good people, don’t leave any trash, don’t destroy and rock formations, don’t rip down trees. Just walk and enjoy nature and you will have a wonderful time!

Absolutely stunning views and waterfalls! The big waterfall is off the regular trail, but still fairly easy to find. If you take the main trail it is an easy hike, going off trail there are some harder spots but it is worth it for the views.

Got lost, trail that was STEEP, WET and DANGEROUS (not supposed to be trails i guess) led to water and so we went up the water to find another way up. Ended up with no reception and when we did we had to call 911, meanwhile keeping the firefighters, police and ems company was fun the hike was not! Good if you have an app for the trail but other than that it’s not marked well and should definitely have signs up!

Highly recommend! When the creek is flowing it is a favorite spot of mine.

This is a nice trail for when you don't have time to get lost in the middle of nowhere. I like to deep dive into the wilderness when I hike. However, this is a beautiful trail that's not too treacherous..and if you are able to stop and read about the history, that's a plus! The creek is relaxing. I like my solitude or being accompanied by few when hiking. So, that's being said that's the only dislike or downside... everyone knows about it. There's usually tons of cars and people. Even though the lot was full of about 20 cars or more, it was few, and in-between that, we saw or passed anyone. There's plenty of outside to go around where you won't feel overcrowded. There's a nice little spot for a picnic But reminder to take your trash. I saw too much laying around, hiding under things.. I'll be going back to pick up more when I come across it.

The trail to the bottom of the falls is roped off, but still a nice hike. You can cross the overlook bridge and see a creek. Picnic tables halfway through hike for a snack or break time.

Stores every where. Walking distance. They have triangle park right in middle of downtown. There are tables for setting or eating. Shaded by trees. A huge water fountian surrounds half of the park. The noise of the water and park is very relaxing and peaceful. In the winter time the same park has a ice skating ring where ppl can ice skate. There is always something to do with the kids down there. Lexington is well known for there horses and all around very beautiful scenery outside of town. The air is fresh smelling and really opens up your sinus.

Their vision is changing the landscape of an unique Metropolitan Area like Lexington effectively to me if you may ask...No?

Very professional atmosphere and extremely knowledgable. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for answers. My wife and thought we would have several more questions once we left, but he left no stone uncovered!

So far I have only run here and walked my dog around the trails. Both have been really enjoyable experiences, but the really interesting part about this park is the fact that you can trail ride a horse here. I've seen a few others riding but have yet to bring our horse out. The only concern I had is a general concern with walking through meadows - ticks. I have found a tick on me 2 out of the 4 times I've gone to the park (peak summer is also peak tick season unfortunately). This obviously is a risk you take when you go into nature and it isn't the park's fault, but it is definitely something to keep in mind before you leave. Always check yourself for ticks! (They like to hide on your ankles at the sock line, behind your knee, and in your hair, so be thorough). Don't let that discourage you though, this is a pretty park. Finally, there's plenty of space in the parking lot to turn a trailer around without having to back it up.

Hisle Farm Park is our favorite park in Lexington! It's a wonderful place to enjoy natural beauty, watch the seasons pass, and help our dog get tired. Miles of neatly mowed trails, an emphasis on native plants, and abundant wildlife

This is a nice little park, with not much elevation changes, and lots of green fields. It was super hot and muggy in Late July when I visited, but that's to be expected. Bugs weren't bad, and I used the 3.5 miles of trails for trail running, which it was great for. Easy access to Lexington and the interstate, would recommend.

This park is great. It's easy to miss, and kind of out of the way, but it is well worth checking out. The trails there are wonderful, they put you smack in the middle of nature. One of the best parks in Fayette County in my opinion.

God place to go for a quiet stroll. Also a place where people take and ride horses, so probably good for that, too. It's quite neat to see that many of the trees that we're planted there in April 2017 are growing well. There's a portable potty if needed.

Great place to take your child fishing. Stocked with plenty of small fish. There is Bass I haven't caught any catfish yet.

Still working to remove invasives. Great spaces; great potential. Not much shade in summer -- but great for a good leg-stretch, in winter, spring, and fall. Dogs (on leash) are welcome.

Not a very large viewing area. People were sitting all along the edges and wouldn't move so it was almost impossible to get pics.

Visitor center was very friendly. Paths were well marked and easy to hike. A great way to enjoy the outdoors

The overlook of the Kentucky River & Palisades is in the Ravens Run Nature Sanctuary. I’d recommend the 4 mile red trail loop and go clockwise thru the sanctuary. That way you’ll end up at the overlook after 2/3’s of the hike and the remaining 1/3 is easier and thru the open meadows.

Good hike, not difficult. All the trails are marked well with signs.

We enjoyed the new trail going to the overlook. Look forward to exploring more.
