Fortress
The Alcázar de Segovia is a romantic medieval castle that has been restored after a fire. It features ornately decorated rooms and houses an armoury museum. The fortress, dating back to the 12th century with construction believed to have started in the 11th century, was completed in 1587 during the Renaissance period by Spanish architect Francisco de Mora.
We had a very nice visit to the historical and beautiful Alcazar in Segovia. The museum itself can be seen in an hour and is well worth the cost of the ticket. We wish we had used the audio guide to explain more about the exhibits. The highlight was the climb to the tower with an incredible view to be had. We booked our visit on line and had timed tickets. It was great to skip the queue for tickets and head right in.
Linda B — Google review
Beautiful castle. Be aware the tower steps are steep, uneven and claustrophobic. Views are amazing! We even saw a rainbow in the sky. Lots of armor, architectural beauty, a garden maze and the remains of a drawbridge. Castle is surrounded by park like setting and lots of flower gardens!
Tonya T — Google review
My husband and I visited the Alcazar on a Thursday in late March. It was a little chilly, but that was mainly the elevation difference from Madrid. We had booked an 11am audio tour, but our train got in pretty early and we were able to get into the Alcazar early as well, which was great and we nearly had the place to ourselves. There are signs in many languages pointing you toward the Alcazar from Segovia town center, so it's hard to miss and a nice walk. It's a wonderful castle and the audio tour does a great job of enumerating the areas, and the sites you're looking at. From the moat to the armory, great hall, and many outside areas. We got a lot of great history and a lot of the designs reminded me of the Alhambra, of course. An unexpected delight was the gift shop. There I was able to get an English language book on Isabella of Castille, which had I looked for unsuccessfully in multiple Madrid bookshops. We also got a lovely cloth castle ornament. I do wish we had been able to go down the hill to see the ship-like cliffside view of the Alcazar from that lower angle. But our knees hurt from nearly two weeks of walking around Spain.
Chelsea D — Google review
The Alcázar of Segovia looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Its distinctive ship-like shape perched high on a rocky hill makes it one of the most beautiful castles in Spain. Originally built as a fortress in the 12th century, it later became a royal palace for the Castilian monarchs, a military academy, and even served as inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle. Walking through the Alcázar feels like stepping back in time. The Hall of Kings (Sala de los Reyes) is breathtaking with its detailed ceilings and portraits of Castilian rulers. The Throne Room, the armory, and the chapel each tell a different story from Spain’s royal past. Everything inside is remarkably well preserved. Climbing the Tower of John II is the highlight of the visit. The view over Segovia, the cathedral, and the surrounding plains is absolutely stunning.
Tareq T — Google review
It's best to get tickets early for the fortress and tower. In warmer months, the top of the tower is very warm. Overall it's a wonderful tour. The Artillery Museum is interesting but no English signage. But the audio guide for the palace is worth it. The vistas from the fortress were impressive. There's a cafe down in the old Laboratories building outside the main gate. This is where your buy tickets.
John S — Google review
Awesome castle to see. There are great views all around. Great and well preserved history in the castle. Oh, and dont miss walking up the castle tower to the top. Beautiful!
Neil B — Google review
Impressive Disney-like castle (Disney was inspired by it). I didn’t get a chance to visit the installations inside but the views and architecture outside are impressive. It’s also In Great condition. If you get a chance, see the back part, less visited and not least of impressive.
Deborah L — Google review
Not a great deal to see inside as Royal Palaces go but the building is very photogenic and there is a nice (if a little bit chaotic) cafe with a beautiful garden seating area in which to enjoy your coffee and pastry. Well worth a visit.

Iglesia de la Vera Cruz is a 13th-century Catholic church with a distinctive 12-sided exterior, originally built by the Knights Templar. Situated on the outskirts of town, this isolated Romanesque church offers a captivating visit for those intrigued by medieval history and legends. The unique architectural style, adorned with the Knights emblem carved into the stone, evokes images of crusades and chivalric orders.
Magnificent austere church located on the way out of Segovia along the road leading to Zamarala. Attributed to the Templars it has a round nave and a spartan altar with just a crucified Jesus. There is a modest fee to visit.
Stuart M — Google review
Really excellent, worth the 3 euros entrance fee. Climb the tower for great views. It’s very tight in the stairs and claustrophobic but it does warn if this bothers you. Interesting leaflet provided on entry with historical notes. Great walk from the Alcazar, steep stairs but well worth the effort. Follow the river for magnificent views of the Alcazar.
Al B — Google review
Looks interesting from the outside. Unfortunately, it turned out to be closed on Tuesday afternoon when we arrived after a hot walk. The hours only seem to be published on the door - see photo.
Simon Y — Google review
Our walk led us out of the Alcazar grounds and then down a very steep, wooded hill before crossing the river and climbing the other side to the Iglesia de la Vera Cruz. This is a beautiful 13th century church, possibly Templar in origin but now owned by the Sovereign Order of Malta, descendents of the Hospitallers. The church is twelve sided with an attached belltower and originally held a fragment of the True Cross. Entry was €3 and the interior was plain other than a couple of paintings including an altar screen (I think). We climbed the bell tower, which had a very worn and very narrow set of spiral stairs, to enjoy the vista of the Alcazar at the top of the hill before leaving to continue our walk.
Marcus H — Google review
Small but incredibly fascinating as a piece of history plus a great view from the tower even if the stairs are very very narrow plus it’s cash only entry

Come here at sunset! I was on a wine tour and our driver stopped us here to take in the sites and see the town from the church and the views were absolutely breathtaking at twilight.

Iglesia de San Millán is a remarkable 12th-century church in Segovia, known for its monumental Romanesque architecture. Situated beyond the fortified historic center, it offers stunning views of the old town. The church features a Mozarabic tower, atrium, and apses, showcasing Segovian 12th-century art. Its architecture reflects both Romanesque style and Islamic influence with Caliphate-inspired vaulting and ornamentation.
Beautiful church. We stumbled across this after dinner one evening to find an elegantly illuminated church that appeared historic and memorizing. Wanted to go inside but it appeared they were having a service.
Callum K — Google review
The Church of San Millán is a true Romanesque jewel, one of the most important and best-preserved temples in Segovia and in all of Castile. Its exterior, with a beautiful porticoed atrium, immediately captures the eye, while the sculptural decoration of the capitals—featuring scenes such as the Three Wise Men—adds an extraordinary artistic richness. Inside, the Romanesque ensemble of the main altar stands out as a highlight. Built at the beginning of the 12th century, the church has retained its solemn beauty through the centuries, and its designation as a National Monument in 1931 feels more than deserved.
Q G — Google review
The Romanesque architecture for churches is the more common one in Segovia. This church is a fine example. It took two centuries to finish building Iglesia de San Millán (11th to 13th). The results are simply beautiful. It's unfortunate that many churches in Segovia remain closed most of the time. As a tourist, you only get to see them from the outside. Try to get in on Sundays when some of them are open for liturgy.

Segovia Aqueduct is a towering Roman monument with 167 arches, making it a grand landmark. The old quarter of Segovia and the Aqueduct are part of a World Heritage site, offering visitors a glimpse into the town's rich history. Exploring the city walls reveals other notable attractions such as Casa de los Picos, Alhondiga, Torreon de Lozoya, and the church of San Martin.
This is absolutely worth a spot on a Spain tour itinerary. Seeing the Roman architecture integrated into the daily lives of the local people and tourists was stunning. This was one of our first stops, and I was so glad we made it. Parking with a caravan can be tough, but it is possible if you are willing to walk a little bit. The area itself is quite large and well kept, so foot traffic was minimal and stress free. They have lots of food and shopping options nearby so there is something for everyone. We loved it!! It's definitely a stopping point for any tourist interested in seeing actual history in person. A++

Amazing history, culture and charm. Great cathedrals. A castle and Rubens paintings! Oh and the food, people and vibe are great too. Worth the trip from Madrid. Easy day out.
Natasha S — Google review
The old city of Segovia was settled by the Romans 2000 years ago. Their major contribution which still exists in its original form is the aqueduct. This is the most amazing piece of engineering and enabled the expansion of the city providing it with fresh water from the mountains. It extends for 17 kilometers and much of it is underground. There is a staircase you can climb to be at the top and it is truly spectacular. The city itself is charming.
G M — Google review
Seeing the Aqueduct of Segovia in person is just amazing. Honestly, pictures don't do it justice at all. When you stand there and see the scale of it, and think about how old it is and that it's still standing, it's just incredible. It's so well preserved and right in the middle of everything. We spent ages just walking around it and admiring the construction. It's a true masterpiece of Roman engineering and an absolute must-see. We were completely blown away. 5 stars, easily.
Eric F — Google review
The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the most impressive ancient structures I have ever seen. Built by the Romans around the first century AD, it stands as a masterpiece of engineering and endurance. The fact that it was constructed without any mortar, using only perfectly cut granite blocks, makes it even more incredible. Standing beneath the aqueduct, you can truly appreciate its scale and precision. It stretches across the city with more than 160 arches and reaches almost 30 meters high at its tallest point. It once carried water from the mountains over 15 kilometers away to supply Segovia, and parts of it continued to function for centuries. It is remarkable how well preserved it remains today, blending seamlessly with the modern city around it. The surrounding plaza is lively, filled with cafes and shops, and offers perfect views for photos both day and night.
Tareq T — Google review
Absolutely spectacular must-see Roman aqueduct. Photos cannot do it justice. Reasonably easy to get to. There is a high speed Renfe train station a few miles out of town and a regular bus service that runs directly to the aqueduct from the station. Segovia itself has plenty of other sites to visit and I spent all day here.
Dave P — Google review
Segovia is truly a wonderful destination for travel. There are so many ancient buildings, churches, and castles. Of course, we visited the aqueduct, which is the main attraction, but the Alcázar Castle is also incredibly interesting. We also visited the Mint, which was fascinating, and we spent three days strolling around the city, exploring many cozy cafés with delicious food. We had a fantastic time with family and friends, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

The Monastery of Santa María del Parral, located just outside the walls of Segovia, is a remarkable Roman Catholic monastery complex with a rich history dating back to the 15th century. This impressive site showcases late Gothic and Mudejar architectural styles and is home to a stunning church with an impressive facade. Notable artworks and the tombs of King Henry IV of Castile and Queen Maria of Aragon can be found within its walls.
Beautiful monastery with rich history. Founded in 1447, supported by wealthy Segovian families and made holy by King Enrique’s interference. On Saturday morning the door open and you are guided by the one of (the few) monks. When interested in a holy touch and trying to avoid touristic crowds, this is definitely a recommendation!

The Catedral de Segovia is a stunning late-Gothic cathedral in Spain, featuring 1300s stained glass and art-filled chapels. It was built in the 16th century to replace an earlier cathedral destroyed during a revolt. Designed by Juan Gil de Hontanon and executed by his son Rodrigo, the cathedral showcases a transition from Gothic to Renaissance style. The interior is illuminated by 16th-century Flemish windows and features a wooden neoclassical choir.
What can else can I add to the mountain of reviews. This place is a piece of history, architecture is amazing and makes you wonder how everything was put together. Just a heads up, while the church can be viewed during their normal hours, you will need to buy separate tickets to tour the famous tower. If you’re looking for a killer view, would recommend the tours during their normal hours evening. Ours was at 9:30pm and it added to the experience.

Segovia Cathedral – Simply Breathtaking One of the most beautiful and largest cathedrals I’ve ever seen. The interior architecture is flawless — every detail feels grand and timeless. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. Walking inside feels humbling, like stepping into history itself. A must-visit if you’re in Segovia.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cathedral of Segovia – A Masterpiece of Faith and Architecture The Cathedral of Segovia is truly one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever visited. Known as the “Lady of Cathedrals” for its elegance, it was begun in the 16th century and took nearly 200 years to complete — and you can see the painstaking detail in every stone. Its late Gothic design with soaring spires, intricate carvings, and stunning stained glass makes it not just a religious site, but a living piece of art. Walking inside, you’re surrounded by chapels, vaulted ceilings, and priceless artworks that feel timeless. Segovia itself is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in Spain, and the cathedral is its crown jewel. I highly recommend everyone to experience it in person — photos don’t do justice to its scale and artistry.

An amazing and beautiful Cathedral that is a must see in Segovia, like every review says. We took the 12:00 pm tower tour and loved it. The tour is in Spanish but we were given an audioguide with descriptions in English. Highly recommend this tour for a great view and the ability to see the amazing bell tower.
Linda B — Google review
My husband and I visited the Cathedral on a Thursday in late March. It was an easy landmark to walk past and because we were able to visit the Alcazar earlier than planned, we had time to hit the Cathedral before lunch and our earlier train back. You do have to pay to visit this Cathedral, but it is well worth it as the last Gothic Cathedral built in Europe. There was great natural light when we visited, even on a chilly day, and it really showed off the Cathedral to its best from a massive illuminated manuscript to the cloisters, and a random moon installation, everyone tried to touch on their tiptoes.
Chelsea D — Google review
The Cathedral of Segovia is absolutely breathtaking — a must-visit if you’re exploring this historic city. Often called “The Lady of Cathedrals” (La Dama de las Catedrales), it’s one of the last great Gothic cathedrals built in Spain, completed in the mid-16th century. What makes it so special is how it beautifully bridges late Gothic architecture with touches of Renaissance style — tall, elegant vaults, intricate stained glass, and a calm golden light that fills the entire space. Inside, the chapels are stunning, each with its own art and story. You can also visit the cloister and the museum, which hold centuries of religious art and artifacts. I especially loved how peaceful it felt despite being such a grand structure — it truly feels like stepping into another era.
Tareq T — Google review
Didn’t get a chance to visit the cathedral inside but the outside looks impressive. You can see it from several parts of the city, one of them from the plaza. The location is beautiful. there ia lots of green space to admire and enjoy.

Iglesia de San Martín is a medieval church located in Segovia, founded in the 12th century and expanded over time with various architectural styles. The church showcases Castilian Romanesque architecture and features notable elements such as the Gothic Capilla de Herrera, which houses the tombs of the Herrera family, and the Capilla Mayor with a remarkable recumbent figure of Christ by Gregorio Fernandez.
Iglesia de San Martín (Saint Martin Church) - Built in the twelfth century, it already existed in 1117, because in the testament of Domingo Petit his abbot appears as a witness. It is located in the current square of Juan Bravo, halfway between the Cathedral of Santa María and the Roman aqueduct. It is a temple of Mozarabic origin with Romanesque style. The temple differs in part from the original, as some parts have been reconstructed or eliminated, as is the case of the central apse, which was replaced. It has three naves, a transept with a brick dome and a tripartite head. Of the temple they are remarkable the bell tower, that is of Romanesque-Mudejar style, and owns arches of brick on stone columns. It is also remarkable its porticoed gallery, which surrounds the entire church except the head. This portico has semicircular arches that rest on columns with Romanesque capitals. The cover of the western facade is one of the largest doors of Spanish Romanesque. It is a cover of five archivolts, decorated with plant motifs. It is sheltered by a portico, like a narthex, whose opening is a large set of archivolts supported by human statues representing characters from the Old Testament. (Wikipedia)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Iglesia de San Martín – Segovia The Iglesia de San Martín is one of those hidden gems in Segovia that quietly takes your breath away. Built in the 12th century, this Romanesque church is a masterpiece that has stood for nearly 900 years. It sits right in the heart of the city, surrounded by arcaded galleries, and is instantly recognizable with its striking Mudejar-style bell tower and beautifully carved stone details. The church was originally constructed by the powerful Caballeros de San Martín and later became a hub of religious and civic life. What’s fascinating is how it blends Romanesque architecture with Moorish influences — a reminder of the diverse cultural history of Spain. The stone porticoes with semicircular arches give it such character, and the sculpted capitals show the level of artistry from that era. Personally, I loved walking around the church, taking in all the angles of the façade. My wife and I took plenty of photos here — the kind of place where the architecture feels alive, telling its own story through every arch and column. It’s peaceful, inspiring, and a must-see for anyone who appreciates history and design.
Mr. D — Google review
This is a perfect example of a medieval church and located just down from the Plaza Major in Segovia. The interior is simply styled with a barrel vaulted ceiling and a beautifully gilded altar. The exterior has the original carvings around the doors and in the corners but of real interest are the capitals of the pillars. They are all different and in fairly good condition considering their age and exposure to the elements. A lovely church to visit.

Nice but not amazing after having visited Segovia Cathedral. You'll certainly pass by it when walking from the Aqueduct to the Cathedral (and further to the Alcazar) or the other way. There is a fee to visit it. If you have enough time in Segovia you might visit it, but not if it mean having less time for the Alcazar, the Cathedral or the Aqueduct, the main attractions in this city.

Wonderful staff and excellent food in the centre of Segovia. Good prices, not the typical tourist trap. We were six and had all the menu with different dishes so we could try them all, the food was delicious and good quality, and the service was great. A place where we will go back!

OK, it's only 4 euros but you have only 4 numbers on the audio guide. A visit is over in 10 minutes and the church is far from impressive.

Mirador de la Pradera de San Marcos is a free lookout point offering stunning views of the medieval Alcázar castle in Segovia. The hike up to this grassy area may be tiring, but the panoramic vistas of the castle's spires and its rocky foundation make it worthwhile. Located below the castle, this viewpoint provides an excellent vantage point for capturing photos of the castle, often likened to the front of a ship.
Just type this Mirador in Maps and you'll reach this amazing spot. There's a small parking in a dead end street, and 1 min walk takes you to the lawn beneath the castle. Amazing views, bring your drink or snack to cool down and enjoy this beauty

Great place to stop by. The view of the castle is amazing. Its a steep downhill or uphill walk to get there but its worth it, cause not many tourists go there. When we visited the place was practically empty and we had it for ourselfs.

When visiting Segovia, don't miss the enchanting Plaza de Medina del Campo, a historical site that showcases a fusion of Christian and Jewish religion. The area also features the Romanesque Church of St. Martin and the main places of Jewish Segovia, including its old main Synagogue. As you continue your tour, take in the majestic Cathedral of Segovia at Plaza Mayor with its exterior guarded by gargoyles and prophetic angels.
You come across this plaza while you walk towards the Segovia cathedral from the Aqua duct, this is a beautiful area with few sculptures standing tall and lot of shops and restaurants nearby. Great vibes and definitely worth a lot of pictures. Do visit!

Its name comes from Medina del Campo, which was the center of commercial trade in medieval Spain. It has served as one of Segovia's important social and cultural centers. In the center is a statue of Juan Bravo, who played an important role in the Revolt of the Comuneros in the 1520s and fought for the freedom of the citizens.

Above a third of the way up the hill to the Alcazar is public square, Plaza de Medina del Campo. Flanked by beautiful Church of San Martin on one side and by nice looking hotels and shops on the other. At the centre of the square is a set of steps that take you up to the old watch tower. On the way up you'll also pass a monument to Juan Bravo, one of the leaders of the failed Revolt of the Comuneros. There's a restaurant near the top of the steps and because it's about 5 metres above the street level, it's a nice pace to sit and people watch. Don't go out of the way to see this though, as you're more likely to be walking past to get to the Cathedra, Alcazar or Plaza Mayor.

Nestled in the heart of Segovia, the Iglesia de San Esteban is a stunning medieval church that dates back to the 12th century. This architectural gem is particularly famous for its impressive Romanesque bell tower, which stands at an astonishing 56 meters—making it the tallest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula.
Iglesia de San Esteban - It comes from the twelfth century, surely supported on another earlier. It lost its Romanesque apse in favor of the horrendous current head crowned with a spire. It has three naves, double atrium and two covers. Inside it is possible to hide Romanesque elements covered by the many retouches, especially the Baroque. It maintains in one of its chapels a wonderful Romanesque Christ that belonged to the neighbor and disappeared church of Santiago and that has its own legend. On the outside, the atrium maintains part of the original floor with some tombs and enough capitals in not very good conditions, others must have been replaced. It is surely the most modern among the Romanesque of the city, as can be appreciated by its richness and sculptural perfection that is not only seen in the capitals, but in the corbels and metopes of its eaves.

(Translated by Google) The church of San Esteban is located very close to the Canonjías neighborhood and the cathedral. Built at the beginning of the 13th century, the church is a Romanesque temple with a three-nave plan. On one side there is a portico with semicircular arches supported by double columns with sculpted capitals and decorated with human, animal and plant figures. During the 18th century and after a fire that seriously damaged the church, the interior was redone but without respecting its Romanesque origin and adopting the baroque forms typical of the time. However, some late Romanesque sculptures and a 13th century calvary are still preserved. Also in the 18th century it lost the original Romanesque apse. But what stands out most about the church of Saint Stephen is, without a doubt, the large six-story bell tower more than 50 meters high. It is one of the highest Romanesque churches on the Iberian Peninsula along with the church of Santa María la Antigua in Valladolid. At the end of the 19th century, lightning struck the tower, causing a fire that damaged it, leading to its restoration at the beginning of the 20th century. The first floor is completely plain, the next two with blind double-arch windows and simple archivolts on columns, the next two floors also with double-arch windows but already open and the last floor with triple windows with smaller arches. After the restoration carried out in the 20th century, a pyramidal slate spire with a steep slope was placed on the upper floor, which is crowned by a ball on which sits a rooster-shaped weather vane with a cross on its body, which makes it gives greater slenderness and elegance. Unfortunately, currently, you cannot visit the interior of the church as it is undergoing restoration. However, the greatest attraction of St. Stephen's Church is found on the outside, especially its bell tower. Although for me there is plenty of parking in the same square and the cars that surround a Romanesque church that is unique for its beauty and singularity.

Nestled in the heart of Segovia's Plaza Mayor, the Iglesia de San Miguel is a stunning Gothic-style church that dates back to the 16th century. This architectural gem was built after the original church dedicated to Saint Michael was demolished. It stands as a testament to both faith and history, having served as a vital community hub where significant events unfolded, including the crowning of Queen Isabel.
The Church of San Miguel may go a little unnoticed, despite being located right in the Plaza Mayor of Segovia, directly across from the majestic Cathedral. Originally, it stood in the center of the square, and it was here where Princess Isabella was proclaimed Queen of Castile, becoming known as Isabella the Catholic — the Queen who changed the destiny of Spain and the Americas. Although its architecture may appear modest compared to other monuments in the city, the church holds immense symbolic value. Every visitor, especially those coming from the Americas, should take a moment here to reflect and honor Queen Isabella, who envisioned integrating the native peoples of the New World as full subjects of the Crown. A place small in appearance, yet monumental in historical significance.

Iglesia de San Miguel (Saint Miguel Church) - There was, from the time of the repopulation, a primitive Romanesque church of San Miguel in the space of the current Plaza Mayor. Next to this temple was proclaimed queen of Castilla Isabel the Catholic on December 13, 1474. This church was demolished in 1532 to expand the plaza and began the construction of the current church in the vicinity of the Plaza Mayor, on the current street of the Infanta Isabel. The church housed in the past one of the several public libraries that existed in Segovia to consult neighbors. It is a church made of stone with a large Gothic nave of considerable height, wide transept and chapels on the sides. The façade rises above an atrium, with an elevated tower and the Romanesque portal that was moved from the original church. The entrance of the church is presided by a set of three reliefs embedded in the southern wall in which San Miguel, San Pedro and San Pablo appear. Inside, the main altarpiece stands out, completed in 1572 and the work of the sculptor José Ferreras with paintings by Pedro de Prádena; the Chapel of the Christ of the Blood (which in turn contains the Chapel of Our Lady of Peace, which was the "Triptych of Descent" left by the hand of Ambrosius Benson, nowadays housed in the Cathedral of Segovia); and the Chapel of the Lagoons, which functions as a baptismal chapel, and in which the famous Segovian physician and naturalist Andrés Laguna is buried. El Bernardino is a traditional Spanish restaurant that has been in operation for over 70 years. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including garlic soup and crispy sucking pig. The restaurant also has a Michelin star rating.
What a wonderful meal!! We ordered the suckling pig to share, plus a salad. Mistake!!! Don’t even THINK of sharing this meal with anyone else, it’s just too good. We quickly ordered a second one. The bread, olive oil and especially the balsamic vinegar was absolutely out of this world. I’ve tried to find it online and can’t, unfortunately. The service was excellent. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. Since we needed to get back to our bus back to Madrid, we informed the wait staff and they were very timely. Make this restaurant a priority on your trip to Segovia. You’ll be happy you did.

It took a while to get seated. It seemed like they were closing. There weren’t a lot of people in the restaurant. It was dinner time (American time it was 18:00). I had a list of must try Spanish foods and drinks and roasted suckling pig was on the list. I like pork. Especially ribs and pork chops. However, I was not impressed by the roasted suckling pig. It reminded me of chitlins. But the wine was good. The potatoes were tasty. The service was typical for Spain. I would go back, but pick another dish.

The service is FAST!! If you’re in a hurry, this place is highly recommended. The ordered food hit the table in approximately 10 minutes after ordering. And it arrived hot, freshly prepared. The cheese and jam appetizer was the highlight for me — that was quite enjoyable. I don’t know what to expect with the monkfish meatballs, but they were surprisingly good — loved the sauce. The salad was a salad. The food coming out quick is the highlight of the customer service experience. The server was in quite a rush bouncing from table to table trying to move people out quickly — he wasn’t the friendliest. If you’re pressed for time, this is the place to try.

The Monastery of Incarnation, located north of the city walls, is a significant Renaissance monastery where Santa Teresa embraced monastic life for 27 years. It offers visitors the opportunity to explore three main rooms, including the one where the saint resided. The monastery also functions as a convent and place of worship, rather than just a museum. Visitors can witness relics and items used by Saint Teresa and Saint Juan de la Cruz.
It is a cloistered convent of Carmelite nuns. This is where Teresa of Jesus, also called Teresa of Ávila, became a nun in 1535. It is said that she established the foundation of the Barefoot Carmelite Sisters here. Traces of Teresa can be found inside the building. You can enter the monastery museum for 2 euros. The staff are very friendly.

Super friendly staff, if you can contribute, entrance is 2€, but it is so worth it! You get to see and walk through St. Teresa of Avilas footsteps and really soak in a lot of information. They guide you through the church attached to the monastery as well, and all the areas where she lived. An amazing experience!

Corpus Christi in Segovia is a historic site that holds the Corpus Christi Convent, originally a synagogue built in the 13th century. This medieval building features original decorations like columns adorned with pineapples and scrolls. It's one of five synagogues in Segovia and is well-preserved. The Iglesia del Corpus Christi, once a synagogue, is now a small but beautiful church worth visiting for its historical significance and artisan products sold by nuns.
Saw the place from the outside. Lot of history behind this of take overs and conquest. Do visit!

From an ancient synagogue (la sinagoga in espanol) to modern church; and restoration after 1899 fire, all these faces make it, a place of historical importance. Though, it is a small to mid sized church, located at the plaza de corpus lane. Kind of hidden gem

This is a charming, small church located right in front of the old Jewish quarter, rich with fascinating history. The entrance fee is just 1 euro. While the church itself is quite small and can be fully explored in about 30 minutes, it offers a meaningful glimpse into the area’s past. Most of the information inside is in Spanish, but upon entry, you’ll receive a concise English booklet that covers the history and key facts about the site. If you’re interested in history and want a quick, affordable visit, this spot is worth your time

Even so, when it was restored, they followed the same design as the old Jewish synagogue, despite the fact that it was already a Christian convent. A Place of Peace, History, and Stunning Views Visiting the Church and former Monastery of San Frutos was one of the highlights of my trip to the Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park. Perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Duratón River, this historic site offers not only breathtaking views but also a deep sense of peace and spirituality. The walk to the hermitage is pleasant and scenic, with panoramic vistas along the way. Once you arrive, the remains of the old monastery and the small Romanesque church, still standing strong, evoke a profound connection to the past. Highly recommended for hikers, history lovers, photographers, or anyone looking to escape the noise of everyday life. Don't forget your camera, the views from the edge are unforgettable!
Hoha F — Google review
Very nice and easy reachable viewpoint. There is a huge parking spot 100m away from the Ermita (however the walk from there is not flat) from the outside it looks like a ruin however the inside is still a “fully functional” church. Don’t only go for the Ermita but also for the many vultures nesting around and flying over

The isolated location in a countryside Spain still keeps its medieval ambiance and feeling when you look at the landscape around. You might imagine that such place hosted the presence of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza when you look at notice boards stating words and decrees of king Alfonso X granting authority and ownwership to the Priorate.

good view on the right side. I should never jump into the grass, my clothes are covered with seeds (stuck to its fabric) it is a pain to get them out.

This is a wonderful place sitting on a steep hill above a fantastic canyon. When I visited it the monastery was closed so I cannot comment on the interior, but the ruins are impressive and the countryside around it even more. This is a great place for hiking or kayaking (in the reservoir below). The most astounding thing is the vultures gliding in the hot air currents above your head. Amazing! There's no water so make sure you bring plenty with you. The hike to it is easy but on your way back to the car park it's a bit of a climb so be prepared.

Very beautiful nature and the Ermita located beautiful in the middle. Had found it randomly online prior to coming to spain and considered to drop it on the day to do other stuff as we had not heard much except that random source. Glad we did not. The river(lake) looked like the famous horseshoe bend but we could walk around all by our self. Like we only saw one other group coming down when we walked back to the parking lot. around 11 am on a friday. One of the best places we visited in spain. Also the road is gravel but in great condition and we did think "Man we are far out in the spanish countryside" when driving here. But is was easily accesible from our rout from Madrid to Burgos.

(Translated by Google) I highly recommend visiting the Sanctuary. I often visit it with clients from a travel agency in Madrid, and they love the visit, because it's unexpected and because it features several key elements: one is the impressive ironwork from 1764, funded by the Guild of Wool Merchants, which exported wool to Flanders. Another is the shop of the Carmelite Samaritan nuns who care for the temple. And two important, though lesser, elements are the stone fountain from 1824 next to the temple, and the bathrooms, with sinks and toilets, always open to the public. Don't miss the small convent shop, where six nuns offer not only baked goods like marzipan or delicious, 100% natural pastries, as well as jams and honey, but also creams formulated by a pharmacist affiliated with the congregation in Valladolid, such as arnica for pain relief and others for the eyelids and eye contour. And in front of the Sanctuary, the best view of the Alcázar, over the grassy meadow, a classic wedding photo in the city.

The Santisima Trinidad Church, constructed in the 12th century, displays remarkable preservation. Inside, visitors will discover a Gothic chapel adorned with significant artworks by Ambrosius Benson and Giacomo di Pontormo. The church exhibits a Romanesque style with an exquisite arcaded gallery granting entry to the temple. Its state of conservation is excellent, as it retains a substantial portion of its original Romanesque-style elements.
Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad - The Church of the Holy Trinity is a temple of a single nave covered with a half-barrel vault and head with a curved apse preceded by a straight section. To the south the atrium is opened, as is common in Romanesque Segovia. To the north, a Gothic chapel and two Baroque sacristies. Outside, the apse appears semi-hidden in a narrow alley, divided by two half columns in three cloths, in which open windows with columns angled decorated capitals and horizontally by three impost lines one at the height of the windowsill , another as prolongation of the summit of the capitals and another one above the arch. A cornice flown over dogs representing fantastic or real figures, completes the set. In its interior it surprises its two floors of superposed arches, with historiated capitals, vegetables, fantastic bichas, of great sculptural and iconographic value, with some remains of its ancient polychromy. To the south, as is usual in Romanesque Segovia, there is an arcaded gallery, with round arches over double columns that support very sober capitals, with a simple and elegant plant decoration, very flat. The temple has two covers, the western one of simple invoice, presents archivolts aboceladas that rest in beautiful capitals with bichas and flora. On the cover a window that serves as illumination to the main ship and the lateral cover with access from the vestibule, of great beauty in the decoration of its capitals is abre. Inside the temple has a single nave covered with a barrel vault over three arches fajones, which support half columns attached to the side walls. Next to the nave there is the tower, which forms a kind of rectangular dome covered with a groin vault. The current temple, which was built in the twelfth century, succeeded a more primitive one from the late eleventh century, whose remains were discovered after the demolition in 1984 of a baroque chapel located to the south. The oldest part of the current church corresponds to the head, being the west portal and the atrium later work. In 1513 the Chapel of the Fields was built, with a doorway decorated in an Elizabethan Gothic style, with a shallow arch topped by an ogee decorated with cardinas. During the seventeenth century, the interior of the temple was redecorated with Baroque reserves to the taste of the time. Wikipedia

No ostentatious decorations, no intrusive splendor, but pure, honest craftsmanship and a space dedicated to devotion and reflection. It impresses with its quiet majesty. (Translated by Google) Like other Segovian churches, the Trinity Church stands on the site where, at least, another previous temple existed. During the renovations carried out in 1984, remains of another, smaller church were discovered, which would date from the end of the 11th century. The current one dates from the mid-12th century – apse and much of the nave – and the 13th – what remains of the nave, the westernmost sections, and the porch on its southern side. In 1513, the Del Campo chapel was added, whose façade – inside – is in the Elizabethan, or Flamboyant, Gothic style, and displays the family's arms. New additions were made in the 17th century, part of which were removed in the 20th century. Thus, for example, removing the baroque altarpiece revealed the beautiful interior of the apse, with a blind arcade separated from the line of the windows by a decorated molding, in a similar way to how its exterior part is also organized. The two doorways through which the temple is accessed and its portico – whose arches are supported by twin columns – have a typical Romanesque decoration centered on capitals and archivolts, like many other temples in the city of Segovia.

Nestled in the picturesque Valdeolea Valley, the Iglesia de San Martín is a charming small church that beautifully showcases a blend of Baroque, Romanesque, and Gothic architectural styles. This delightful structure has roots tracing back to the late 15th century when an artist joined the local workshop of Master of San Felices. His vibrant paintings can be admired not only here but also in several other churches across Palencia province.

It is not clear what year it is, but there is information that it was rebuilt in the 16th and 18th centuries. Without a doubt the most outstanding point of the building is its tower. In the lower half we find a larger stone structure, which is located even below the bell. At the top we find that it is built in clay brick, closer to the Mudejar style. The rest of the exterior of the building is simple. There is an information sign in good condition, but another is not so good. Nestled in the charming city of Segovia, Spain, Museo Zuloaga is a hidden gem that art enthusiasts should not miss. Established in 1927 by the renowned Spanish painter Ignacio Zuloaga, this museum serves as a tribute to his remarkable contributions to the art world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum showcases an impressive collection of Zuloaga's works, reflecting his traditional and realistic painting style.
I really like ceramics so I'm not a hard sell, but I thought this place was fantastic. It is in an old church and begins with a small ground floor exhibition of some tiles and vases and so on before you enter the church proper. This contains Zuloaga's kiln, some of his work and a staircase that goes up to a roof space that I assume was originally his living quaters. It's now a small gallery of paintings by Zuloaga and his nephew, plus more ceramics and a rather charming bathroom decorated with tiles showing the distinctive skyline of Segovia. What I think is most impressive is his mastery of so many styles of decoration, from art deco to central Asian motiphs, via realism, lustreware and lots more. It only costs a few euros (and indeed was free when I visited), doesn't really need more than half an hour of your time, but is really worth it in my opinion.

Amazing place that deserves more love, but be warned. My group was fortunate enough to arrive at a time when there wasn't anyone else besides the employees. They were all very generous and one even gave us a guided tour of the place. Most of what I learned was through this tour because everything is in Spanish. The more reliable way to manage if you don't speak the language is by using Google Lense to automatically translate everything. This place itself is small but still has plenty to see. It is a church that has been renovated heavily into a tile making factory and later the museum you see today. The building itself holds so much history and has survived through all the various periods of Segovia. Various pieces of the building identify why this is the case and are pointed out by signage. Finally, the main draw is the art itself. Daniel Zuloaga was a prominent tile maker and owner of the building. While most of his work is scattered by the nature of art commissions, sketches of the famous stuff is present. This part is especially interesting since it's rare to see the process especially here. In addition, art from other members of Zuloaga's family are present and beautiful in their own right. If you're expecting something on the level of the Alcazar 10 minutes away you will be disappointed. This takes around 30-45 minutes maximum, though this is easily worth more than the one euro I spent to enter. TLDR: Neat place, bring Google Lens, don't plan your day around it.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful. It is not as big as the cathedral, but with its small size it is mystical and special. I have to say that I don't like photographing churches from the inside out of respect. I feel they are a special place and taking photos makes me lower them to any tourist beach bar. So I'll just do it on the outside. Out of respect for my thoughts and for the faithful who enter seeking comfort and prayer. Visit it. It's very pretty. (Original) Hermosa. Visitarla. Es muy bonita.

(Translated by Google) The parish of El Salvador is an exceptional Segovian Romanesque jewel. Perhaps in another less monumental city it would have a prominence that is denied in Segovia, so close to the Aqueduct, the Alcázar, the Cathedral or Fuencisla. The painted Pantocrator and a small but beautiful arch over the lintel of a side door are well worth a visit. Highest exponent of the Romanesque. I was impressed by spending a few minutes in silence meditating inside this church, enjoying the artist's pure medieval strokes. The Catholic church named Iglesia Mozárabe de Sta. Eulalia, San Marcos Y San Torcuato is a remarkable and lesser-known place of worship in Toledo. It follows the Hispanic Mozarabic rite and has recently undergone restoration, reclaiming its splendor. Situated in the Jewish quarter of Toledo, this exquisite gem opens its doors at noon to visitors seeking to admire its beauty and historical significance as a testament to religious diversity in the city.

(Translated by Google) WHAT TO SEE: Horseshoe Arches + Visigoth Capitals This is one of the many buildings in Toledo that you can pass by countless times without noticing it. It is practically camouflaged in a corner where not many people usually pass by. However, if you ever find the doors open, do not hesitate to enter, since a pleasant surprise awaits you inside that will not leave you indifferent. EXPLANATION: Although on the outside the church is quite normal, its Mozarabic interior preserves the primitive horseshoe arches that rest on columns with Visigothic capitals. The church barely has images, paintings and other decorative elements, only a stone baptismal font (I would say the original) that welcomes us next to the entrance and a votive crown (one of the main permanent offerings that since the time Constantine were made to churches to honor God) that reminds us of their past. However, in this specific case, this lack of decoration, far from taking away from its charm, adds it to it, since it helps us get a much clearer idea of what this construction was like in its origins. This church dates back to the 21st century and is one of the few churches (specifically 6) that King Alfonso VI allowed to continue using the Hispano-Mozarabic rite, a rite that today can continue to be heard every Sunday at 12: 00. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT? Only if you are passing through the area. Although it has a lot of charm inside, the truth is that it is somewhat far from the traditional tourist route through the city of Toledo and since it is so simple and there is so little documentation about it, it can be seen quite quickly.

(Translated by Google) Church of Santa Eulalia. Another of those gems that are very unknown to the general public, even to Toledoans, and with an enormous and surprising history…. Although what matters most to me is that you like the photo. Many people are unaware that it is one of the oldest parishes in the city since its foundation dates back to the Muslim era, specifically to the year 559. During the Muslim occupation its cult was respected and, after the Christian reconquest, the Mozarabic liturgical rite was preserved. Tradition says that this church was where the Cid Campeador founded the brotherhood of Santa Vera Cruz. As you can see in the photo, which is what it is about, the church building is a good example of the primitive Toledo Mudejar from the 12th century, maintaining its basilica plan with three naves. Something surprising and that not everyone knows is that in the 16th century, during repair work in the temple of a wall that was in ruins, a chest appeared with several relics, and among them… Ohhhh surprise…. A piece of the Holy Cross, or Lignum Crucis, appeared. Currently this relic can be seen because it goes out in procession for Holy Week, specifically on Good Friday and is carried by the Mozarabic Knights. Another day I will expand more on this church because it goes a long way. It even has its legend that will be one of the few that I haven't told, hahaha. It is an area that I like, and very unknown despite being close to the Plaza de Padilla, and having a very steep slope as you can see in the photo... tremendous…. Happy Saturday.

(Translated by Google) Located in the neighborhood of the same name, the Church of San Tomás Apóstol is one of those Segovian corners that surprises with its history and simplicity. Built in late Romanesque style with Gothic touches in its later development, this church stands out for its stone bell tower and robust walls, which preserve the essence of traditional Castilian churches. Although not as monumental as the Cathedral or San Millán, San Tomás has the charm of neighborhood churches with centuries of history behind them. Its interior is cozy, with an intimate and sober atmosphere. You don't come here to take flashy photos, but to breathe in the silence, tradition, and faith of generations of Segovians. It is also a beloved place for locals, who feel it is part of their daily lives. The peaceful surroundings and its location somewhat removed from the bustle of the tourist center make visiting this church a more intimate and authentic experience. Right next to the church, San Tomás Park offers a peaceful haven ideal for unwinding. It's not a huge park or especially modern, but it has what it needs: tall trees that provide shade in the summer, benches to sit and chat or read, and a fountain where you can listen to the sound of running water. It's a popular spot for families, children on bikes, grandparents with their grandchildren, and locals who just want to get some fresh air. It's not your typical tourist park, but it is one of those places that makes everyday life more pleasant. Quiet, well-maintained, and with the rustling of leaves in the breeze as your only soundtrack, it's perfect for sitting down for a while after visiting the church.
