Fortress
The Alcázar de Segovia is a romantic medieval castle that has been restored after a fire. It features ornately decorated rooms and houses an armoury museum. The fortress, dating back to the 12th century with construction believed to have started in the 11th century, was completed in 1587 during the Renaissance period by Spanish architect Francisco de Mora.
We had a very nice visit to the historical and beautiful Alcazar in Segovia. The museum itself can be seen in an hour and is well worth the cost of the ticket. We wish we had used the audio guide to explain more about the exhibits. The highlight was the climb to the tower with an incredible view to be had. We booked our visit on line and had timed tickets. It was great to skip the queue for tickets and head right in.
Linda B — Google review
Beautiful castle. Be aware the tower steps are steep, uneven and claustrophobic. Views are amazing! We even saw a rainbow in the sky. Lots of armor, architectural beauty, a garden maze and the remains of a drawbridge. Castle is surrounded by park like setting and lots of flower gardens!
Tonya T — Google review
My husband and I visited the Alcazar on a Thursday in late March. It was a little chilly, but that was mainly the elevation difference from Madrid. We had booked an 11am audio tour, but our train got in pretty early and we were able to get into the Alcazar early as well, which was great and we nearly had the place to ourselves. There are signs in many languages pointing you toward the Alcazar from Segovia town center, so it's hard to miss and a nice walk. It's a wonderful castle and the audio tour does a great job of enumerating the areas, and the sites you're looking at. From the moat to the armory, great hall, and many outside areas. We got a lot of great history and a lot of the designs reminded me of the Alhambra, of course. An unexpected delight was the gift shop. There I was able to get an English language book on Isabella of Castille, which had I looked for unsuccessfully in multiple Madrid bookshops. We also got a lovely cloth castle ornament. I do wish we had been able to go down the hill to see the ship-like cliffside view of the Alcazar from that lower angle. But our knees hurt from nearly two weeks of walking around Spain.
Chelsea D — Google review
The Alcázar of Segovia looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Its distinctive ship-like shape perched high on a rocky hill makes it one of the most beautiful castles in Spain. Originally built as a fortress in the 12th century, it later became a royal palace for the Castilian monarchs, a military academy, and even served as inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle. Walking through the Alcázar feels like stepping back in time. The Hall of Kings (Sala de los Reyes) is breathtaking with its detailed ceilings and portraits of Castilian rulers. The Throne Room, the armory, and the chapel each tell a different story from Spain’s royal past. Everything inside is remarkably well preserved. Climbing the Tower of John II is the highlight of the visit. The view over Segovia, the cathedral, and the surrounding plains is absolutely stunning.
Tareq T — Google review
It's best to get tickets early for the fortress and tower. In warmer months, the top of the tower is very warm. Overall it's a wonderful tour. The Artillery Museum is interesting but no English signage. But the audio guide for the palace is worth it. The vistas from the fortress were impressive. There's a cafe down in the old Laboratories building outside the main gate. This is where your buy tickets.
John S — Google review
Awesome castle to see. There are great views all around. Great and well preserved history in the castle. Oh, and dont miss walking up the castle tower to the top. Beautiful!
Neil B — Google review
Impressive Disney-like castle (Disney was inspired by it). I didn’t get a chance to visit the installations inside but the views and architecture outside are impressive. It’s also In Great condition. If you get a chance, see the back part, less visited and not least of impressive.
Deborah L — Google review
Not a great deal to see inside as Royal Palaces go but the building is very photogenic and there is a nice (if a little bit chaotic) cafe with a beautiful garden seating area in which to enjoy your coffee and pastry. Well worth a visit.

Casa De Los Picos is a 15th-century building in Segovia, known for its facade adorned with 617 granite points and a Renaissance courtyard. The city's Jewish Quarter, once home to a thriving Hebrew community until their expulsion in the 15th century, offers picturesque narrow streets and historic buildings.
Nice looking walls, great architecture from the 15th century.
Sujay S — Google review
It was built as a fortress in the late 15th century by Don Pedro López de Ayala. It is called the House with Peak wall because of its granite exterior wall decorated with 617 pyramid shapes. The Renaissance Terrace is also famous. It is currently the headquarters of the Segovia School of Art and Design.
Seokjin H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Casa de los Picos – Segovia One of the most unique buildings I’ve seen in Spain — and one that immediately caught my eye as an architect and developer. The Casa de los Picos, built in the 15th century, is famous for its striking granite façade, where each stone block is carved into a pyramid-shaped point (“picos”). It was originally the palace of the De la Hoz family, one of Segovia’s most important noble families. Legend has it that the spiked façade was designed not just for beauty but also as a symbol of strength and prestige — a way to stand out among the city’s wealthy households. Over time, the building became a landmark of Segovia and is now carefully preserved as part of the city’s architectural heritage. Today it houses the Segovia School of Arts and often features exhibitions, ensuring it remains alive and part of the community. What I love most is the creativity of the façade — taking a simple material like granite and turning it into something bold, textured, and unforgettable. It’s inspiring to see how historical architects played with light, depth, and geometry centuries ago, and it gives me new ideas for my own projects. Definitely worth a stop when exploring Segovia — not just for the history, but for the inspiration it leaves behind.

The Monastery of Santa María del Parral, located just outside the walls of Segovia, is a remarkable Roman Catholic monastery complex with a rich history dating back to the 15th century. This impressive site showcases late Gothic and Mudejar architectural styles and is home to a stunning church with an impressive facade. Notable artworks and the tombs of King Henry IV of Castile and Queen Maria of Aragon can be found within its walls.
Beautiful monastery with rich history. Founded in 1447, supported by wealthy Segovian families and made holy by King Enrique’s interference. On Saturday morning the door open and you are guided by the one of (the few) monks. When interested in a holy touch and trying to avoid touristic crowds, this is definitely a recommendation!

Nice visit but be advised that the backdrop to the alter is under repair and has a printed cloth covering all of it. See the photo. The very pleasant guide said that hopefully it will be finished around February 2025.

Segovia Aqueduct is a towering Roman monument with 167 arches, making it a grand landmark. The old quarter of Segovia and the Aqueduct are part of a World Heritage site, offering visitors a glimpse into the town's rich history. Exploring the city walls reveals other notable attractions such as Casa de los Picos, Alhondiga, Torreon de Lozoya, and the church of San Martin.
This is absolutely worth a spot on a Spain tour itinerary. Seeing the Roman architecture integrated into the daily lives of the local people and tourists was stunning. This was one of our first stops, and I was so glad we made it. Parking with a caravan can be tough, but it is possible if you are willing to walk a little bit. The area itself is quite large and well kept, so foot traffic was minimal and stress free. They have lots of food and shopping options nearby so there is something for everyone. We loved it!! It's definitely a stopping point for any tourist interested in seeing actual history in person. A++

Amazing history, culture and charm. Great cathedrals. A castle and Rubens paintings! Oh and the food, people and vibe are great too. Worth the trip from Madrid. Easy day out.
Natasha S — Google review
The old city of Segovia was settled by the Romans 2000 years ago. Their major contribution which still exists in its original form is the aqueduct. This is the most amazing piece of engineering and enabled the expansion of the city providing it with fresh water from the mountains. It extends for 17 kilometers and much of it is underground. There is a staircase you can climb to be at the top and it is truly spectacular. The city itself is charming.
G M — Google review
Seeing the Aqueduct of Segovia in person is just amazing. Honestly, pictures don't do it justice at all. When you stand there and see the scale of it, and think about how old it is and that it's still standing, it's just incredible. It's so well preserved and right in the middle of everything. We spent ages just walking around it and admiring the construction. It's a true masterpiece of Roman engineering and an absolute must-see. We were completely blown away. 5 stars, easily.
Eric F — Google review
The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the most impressive ancient structures I have ever seen. Built by the Romans around the first century AD, it stands as a masterpiece of engineering and endurance. The fact that it was constructed without any mortar, using only perfectly cut granite blocks, makes it even more incredible. Standing beneath the aqueduct, you can truly appreciate its scale and precision. It stretches across the city with more than 160 arches and reaches almost 30 meters high at its tallest point. It once carried water from the mountains over 15 kilometers away to supply Segovia, and parts of it continued to function for centuries. It is remarkable how well preserved it remains today, blending seamlessly with the modern city around it. The surrounding plaza is lively, filled with cafes and shops, and offers perfect views for photos both day and night.
Tareq T — Google review
Absolutely spectacular must-see Roman aqueduct. Photos cannot do it justice. Reasonably easy to get to. There is a high speed Renfe train station a few miles out of town and a regular bus service that runs directly to the aqueduct from the station. Segovia itself has plenty of other sites to visit and I spent all day here.
Dave P — Google review
Segovia is truly a wonderful destination for travel. There are so many ancient buildings, churches, and castles. Of course, we visited the aqueduct, which is the main attraction, but the Alcázar Castle is also incredibly interesting. We also visited the Mint, which was fascinating, and we spent three days strolling around the city, exploring many cozy cafés with delicious food. We had a fantastic time with family and friends, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Wow Wow Wow! Beautiful Aquaduct. Romans built it without any cement or binding but simply by piling up one stone on top of the other with such precision and geometry. Really amazing. One of the best roman Aquaducts and well preserved

Restaurante José María is a long-standing venue in Segovia known for its robust and traditional Segovian cuisine. The lunch service is quite a spectacle, with whole suckling pigs being served at the table by the owner himself. For a lighter meal, visitors can stop at the bar for a glass of wine from the restaurant's own exceptional wineries and enjoy some raciones.
Absolutely the best meal we had in Spain! The suckling pig was incredibly tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked—truly a standout dish. The ham was delicious, and the croquetas de jamón were creamy and full of flavor. The judiones caldo was rich and comforting—an amazing traditional dish. The sweet ponche de Segovia was delicious and refreshing, Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere beautifully combined tradition with comfort. A must-visit in Segovia—worth the trip on its own! Many don't know but Segovia is a beautiful small town.
Franklin D — Google review
We made a reservation the day before visiting, and went on a Monday night. Jose Maria's is a beautiful and good sized venue. Great atmosphere. The waiter's detected my struggles with speaking Spanish and gave us English menus and conversed with us without issue. Staff were very friendly. We ordered a soup dish (1 portion) and said we would share it. They kindly split it into two bowls. The main dish was the suckling pig. The waiter brought it out and theatrically carved it jnto six portions using a dinner plate to carve it. The dish tasted amazing. Suckling pig is a specialty in this region of Spain, and Jose Maria's serve and amazing dish. I'd go back and highly recommend it to other visitors.
Warren B — Google review
Excellent food and service, recommended by so many locals and friends. The suckling pig was fantastic and the little show that precedes it with the cutting up of the meal was entertaining. Service was really exceptional and the food was very, very good. Your wait for the suckling pig may take longer than you expect as they roast one pig for a few tables in case you ordered less than a whole pig. Each portion per person costs about €32, so a whole pig costs €128. Its a bit of a walk from the town center but we'll worth the visit. Book in advance.
Laplander D — Google review
Very traditional place to come and try the famous "cochinillo" dish in Spain. The place is very well decorated with a combination of modern and traditional traits. The service was very tentative and the food itself was very tasty. We had to try the cochinillo and it did not disappoint. We did not have a reservation but a table was made available for us within about 15min. We got a drink at the bar while waiting. The overall experience is worth it with friendly staff and good food and great atmosphere. Price wise, its more expensive than other places but given the quality of what is being served, it is worth it. Highly recommended.
James D — Google review
Outstanding meal at Restaurante José María in Segovia! We had dined at Sobrino de Botín in Madrid and there is no denying that this restaurant is far superior in quality of food, wine and experience. The service is impeccable and personal. The house wine is delicious as is the suckling pig and all other foods we ordered. The dining room is spacious and seating relaxed and not cramped. Watching the suckling pig being cut and served using plates, not knives was incredible to witness. The meat was so tender! We purchased extra bottles of wine to bring back to Madrid, it was so good. Our servers were kind and patient with our inability to speak much Spanish. Thank you. Highly recommend reserving a table.
Linda B — Google review
After taking some photographs at the aqueduct then walking towards the cathedral, we stumbled upon this restaurant which was very convenient when you’re tired and hungry from all the walk. The interior had good heating so be ready to remove that extra layer of sweater or coat you wore! The staff were friendly. They had a wooden high chair for babies and toddlers. The star of the show was the Cochinillo. The skin was crispy while the meat was tender. You need to dip it to juices when it was cooked to add some saltiness. There were no pungent taste so that piglet must had a good life! All in all a great experience as I’ve heard that Segovia was the home of the original cochinillo. PS. If you have babies, they’ll gift them a little souvenir which is the icing on the cake
Robert U — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Segovia for sure! Everything we had was amazing, particularly the cochinillo asado and the ponche segoviano. The service is super friendly, the owner of the restaurant Rocío actually comes around the tables to check that you've enjoyed your meal, very nice. I will definitely recommend to friends!

Iglesia de la Vera Cruz is a 13th-century Catholic church with a distinctive 12-sided exterior, originally built by the Knights Templar. Situated on the outskirts of town, this isolated Romanesque church offers a captivating visit for those intrigued by medieval history and legends. The unique architectural style, adorned with the Knights emblem carved into the stone, evokes images of crusades and chivalric orders.
Magnificent austere church located on the way out of Segovia along the road leading to Zamarala. Attributed to the Templars it has a round nave and a spartan altar with just a crucified Jesus. There is a modest fee to visit.

Really excellent, worth the 3 euros entrance fee. Climb the tower for great views. It’s very tight in the stairs and claustrophobic but it does warn if this bothers you. Interesting leaflet provided on entry with historical notes. Great walk from the Alcazar, steep stairs but well worth the effort. Follow the river for magnificent views of the Alcazar.
Al B — Google review
Looks interesting from the outside. Unfortunately, it turned out to be closed on Tuesday afternoon when we arrived after a hot walk. The hours only seem to be published on the door - see photo.
Simon Y — Google review
Our walk led us out of the Alcazar grounds and then down a very steep, wooded hill before crossing the river and climbing the other side to the Iglesia de la Vera Cruz. This is a beautiful 13th century church, possibly Templar in origin but now owned by the Sovereign Order of Malta, descendents of the Hospitallers. The church is twelve sided with an attached belltower and originally held a fragment of the True Cross. Entry was €3 and the interior was plain other than a couple of paintings including an altar screen (I think). We climbed the bell tower, which had a very worn and very narrow set of spiral stairs, to enjoy the vista of the Alcazar at the top of the hill before leaving to continue our walk.

Small but incredibly fascinating as a piece of history plus a great view from the tower even if the stairs are very very narrow plus it’s cash only entry

Nestled in the southern section of Segovia's historic city walls, Puerta de San Andrés, also known as Arco del Socorro, stands as a magnificent testament to medieval architecture. This impressive gate not only connects various parts of the fortifications but also served as a vital entry point to the Jewish Quarter. With its towering structure adorned with steep arches and intricate cornices, it’s truly an architectural marvel that captures the essence of Segovia's rich history.

I saw two gates to the city during my treks around the walls of Segovia. Puerta de San Andrés was the more dramatic. It also happens to be the one that you will most likely see because of its location not far from Plaza Mayor or La Judería, closer to the main tourist attractions. Worth the detour.
Georges Y — Google review
Puerta de San Andrés (San Andrés Gate) also known as Arco del Socorro, the most monumental of the three that have been preserved and in which the Interpretation Center of the Wall has been installed, where visitors will know their history first-hand. In addition, here we can access the adarve, from where there are wonderful views of this side of the city; In it, a series of explanatory panels have been placed in which we are told about what we can see from the point where each of them is located, as well as part of the history of that area. Open on the south side of the wall, the first time that the Puerta de San Andrés appears documented is in the year 1120, although the one we see today is due to the works carried out at the end of the 15th century, or the beginning of the 16th , and practically to the present. Through it one entered the aljama9 of Segovia from the tanneries10 and orchards of the Valle del Clamores, and from the suburbs. The arch has a tower on each side, which are in turn attached to the wall, one of them polygonal and the other square; both have preserved the battlements and the merlones11 of Mudejar style. Also, it was the old guardhouse, where the Interpretation Center mentioned above has been installed. It should be noted its interior, where there is installed a dressing room in which the Virgen del Socorro is venerated, hence the nickname of Arco del Socorro. As a curious fact, it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument on June 3, 1931, that is, ten years before it was the complete set of the wall and all its doors and shutters. In the 1970s, it was restored by Alberto García Gil, as well as in 1989, in this case with works by Federico Coullaut.

There's a €1 entry fee here to walk the walls, but it's worth it, as the views are nice.

This is one of the 3 gates which gave access to old privileged side of Salamanca, this Puerta is next to Jewish quarters, it's might seem insignificant to go and see only this gate but it's definitely worth taking a walk along fortress seeing beautiful old side of the town make sure to notice signs on doors and floors which indicates different historic facts about particular place.

Mesón de Cándido is a legendary restaurant located in a rustic 1800s half-timbered house beneath a Roman aqueduct in Segovia. It is renowned for its roasted suckling pig, which is the most famous local dish. The city also offers traditional museums such as the Antonio Machado House-Museum and surprising new spaces like La Carcel, a former prison turned into an exhibition and cultural center.
Service at this restaurant is extraordinary, with delicious “cochinillo” and great environment and location at Segovia. Promptly welcomed for our 1pm reservation, and fortunate to be seated at a central location upstairs, were served by an ever courteous waiter that was attentive and anticipative to our needs. Following the Cochinillo ceremony by Don Candido, descendant of the founder, we enjoyed the succulent cochinillo and other dishes, and house wine. Reasonable prices. This is a very famous restaurant and destination, but happy to report this is by no means a tourist trap !
Jose R — Google review
Meson de Candido in Segovia offers a traditional Castilian dining experience with mixed results across their classic menu offerings. The decent chicken caesar salad provided a familiar, reliable start to the meal without any particular distinction from standard preparations. The interesting mushroom dish, Setas de Segovia, showcased local ingredients but proved a little too earthy for my taste. While clearly fresh and regionally authentic, the intense earthiness may appeal more to mushroom enthusiasts than casual diners seeking milder flavors. The seabass was very good, demonstrating the kitchen's capability with seafood preparation through proper cooking technique and seasoning that highlighted the fish's natural qualities without overwhelming them. The cochinillo (roast suckling pig) - the restaurant's signature dish - was good but could use more herbs and seasoning to elevate it beyond basic preparation. While the meat was tender and properly cooked, it lacked the bold flavors that would make this traditional Segovian specialty truly memorable. The dining experience was significantly enhanced by the stunning location - we loved the view of the Roman aqueduct, which creates an unparalleled backdrop that adds historical grandeur to the meal. This magnificent setting transforms an ordinary dinner into something special, making the restaurant as much about the experience as the food. Meson de Candido succeeds in providing traditional Castilian cuisine in an extraordinary setting, where the breathtaking views of the ancient aqueduct create lasting memories that complement the regional food offerings. Unfortunately, the staff were quite rude and unenthusiastic, rushing us to eat and leave.

We had such a great experience there! We were there 1pm on Tuesday, it was already very busy. We didn’t book a table but we were lucky enough to have a table! Because when we went in a few minutes after it opened, the restaurant was packed! We ordered 1 portion of a suckling pig, and a potato truffle omelet. Both of them were amazing! The owner of the restaurant himself did a small breaking the plate show to us and also to every room that day! It was amazing! Definitely recommend! (And the view from the restaurant is the Segovia Aqueduct itself! Truly beautiful). And the staffs are very nice.

While in Segovia, I dined at Mesón de Cándido, the city’s legendary spot for roast suckling pig. With such a reputation, expectations were understandably high – but the experience, unfortunately, didn’t quite live up to the hype. We had a dinner reservation, and although the place wasn’t fully booked, the staff’s service felt rather indifferent – not rude, but lacking warmth. It gave off the impression of a restaurant resting on its fame rather than striving to impress. We ordered a salad, pig’s ears with beans, the famous roast suckling pig, and roasted lamb. The pig is undoubtedly the headline item here, but to be honest, it felt overrated. The skin – usually prized for its crispiness – was soft and slightly rubbery, likely due to excess moisture. With better treatment of the skin, the dish could have lived up to its reputation. Surprisingly, the roasted lamb outshone the pig – crisp skin, tender meat, and full of flavor. Overall, while Mesón de Cándido holds undeniable historical significance and name recognition in Segovia, I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit purely for the food. Unless you’re particularly drawn to the tradition and history of the place, there are probably better culinary options in town.

Of course it was a must when visiting Segovia. We had a reservation and we didn't have to wait to be shown to our table. The interior is very cozy and the views beautiful. We had the segovian mushroom and grilled Eggplants with ham as starters, duck and the suckling pig as entre and as dessert the sogovian ponche cake. All very tasty, especially the two starters stole the show. The staff were really friendly and tried to help us considering our very limited Spanish.

We loved the experience. The history of the restaurant and how many people they have served. The cochinillo show was a fantastic close to a very nice meal.

I was a group of seven and we were able to sit outside for lunch. Most in the group ordered the sucking pig and they enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken - I wasn’t what I expected but was okay. There was also an order of fish, which was the best meal at the table.

Large servings of food. We only wanted one dish but our server said it might not be enough for two. But when it arrived, it was good for at least 2. Oh well, something to eat at the hotel later. Service was very good, we got a table right away. I had the veal steak and it was very tender. My wife had the suckling pig roast and she liked it. The bread and wine are just okay. We also had the poncho segoviano and it was really good.

The Catedral de Segovia is a stunning late-Gothic cathedral in Spain, featuring 1300s stained glass and art-filled chapels. It was built in the 16th century to replace an earlier cathedral destroyed during a revolt. Designed by Juan Gil de Hontanon and executed by his son Rodrigo, the cathedral showcases a transition from Gothic to Renaissance style. The interior is illuminated by 16th-century Flemish windows and features a wooden neoclassical choir.
What can else can I add to the mountain of reviews. This place is a piece of history, architecture is amazing and makes you wonder how everything was put together. Just a heads up, while the church can be viewed during their normal hours, you will need to buy separate tickets to tour the famous tower. If you’re looking for a killer view, would recommend the tours during their normal hours evening. Ours was at 9:30pm and it added to the experience.

Segovia Cathedral – Simply Breathtaking One of the most beautiful and largest cathedrals I’ve ever seen. The interior architecture is flawless — every detail feels grand and timeless. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. Walking inside feels humbling, like stepping into history itself. A must-visit if you’re in Segovia.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cathedral of Segovia – A Masterpiece of Faith and Architecture The Cathedral of Segovia is truly one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever visited. Known as the “Lady of Cathedrals” for its elegance, it was begun in the 16th century and took nearly 200 years to complete — and you can see the painstaking detail in every stone. Its late Gothic design with soaring spires, intricate carvings, and stunning stained glass makes it not just a religious site, but a living piece of art. Walking inside, you’re surrounded by chapels, vaulted ceilings, and priceless artworks that feel timeless. Segovia itself is one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in Spain, and the cathedral is its crown jewel. I highly recommend everyone to experience it in person — photos don’t do justice to its scale and artistry.

An amazing and beautiful Cathedral that is a must see in Segovia, like every review says. We took the 12:00 pm tower tour and loved it. The tour is in Spanish but we were given an audioguide with descriptions in English. Highly recommend this tour for a great view and the ability to see the amazing bell tower.

My husband and I visited the Cathedral on a Thursday in late March. It was an easy landmark to walk past and because we were able to visit the Alcazar earlier than planned, we had time to hit the Cathedral before lunch and our earlier train back. You do have to pay to visit this Cathedral, but it is well worth it as the last Gothic Cathedral built in Europe. There was great natural light when we visited, even on a chilly day, and it really showed off the Cathedral to its best from a massive illuminated manuscript to the cloisters, and a random moon installation, everyone tried to touch on their tiptoes.
Chelsea D — Google review
The Cathedral of Segovia is absolutely breathtaking — a must-visit if you’re exploring this historic city. Often called “The Lady of Cathedrals” (La Dama de las Catedrales), it’s one of the last great Gothic cathedrals built in Spain, completed in the mid-16th century. What makes it so special is how it beautifully bridges late Gothic architecture with touches of Renaissance style — tall, elegant vaults, intricate stained glass, and a calm golden light that fills the entire space. Inside, the chapels are stunning, each with its own art and story. You can also visit the cloister and the museum, which hold centuries of religious art and artifacts. I especially loved how peaceful it felt despite being such a grand structure — it truly feels like stepping into another era.
Tareq T — Google review
Didn’t get a chance to visit the cathedral inside but the outside looks impressive. You can see it from several parts of the city, one of them from the plaza. The location is beautiful. there ia lots of green space to admire and enjoy.

The Restaurant Casa Duque is a long-running country-style locale for Segovian cuisine like suckling pig, garlic soup & wild boar. It's decorated with a medieval castle theme and has many pictures of the owners and celebrities on the walls since 1895. Reservations are recommended as it can get busy, and there's table service and full bar.
Amazing place, very cozy and well decorated.giving you the vibe of an old authentic Spanish restaurant. Food and dessert are very tasty. We got lamb suckling chops and pork suckling chop. Both grilled perfectly and taste very good. House wine is tasty! For the dessert we had puff pastry and taste like heaven! Really recommend this place

While the atmosphere was nice, this high priced meal fell short of expectation’s. First of all, one of the servers had a bad cold with a runny nose and red eyes. He shouldn’t have been there. We observed him grabbing his runny nose, then proceeded to grab silverware for customers. Thankfully he was not our server. My husband ordered the suckling fried pig and it was merely crackling with feet intact. Very dry. I ordered the Monk Fish with shrimp, and it was very undercooked. (See photo) Lastly, they appeared to not particularly care for us 2 Americans. We are easy folks. The only really friendly person was the tall slim gentleman in the white chef jacket and jeans that circulated around the restaurant. He was great!!!! We questioned if he was really the chef, or if we was hired to pretend to be since he was out front so often. Best part of the meal was the wine.

Lunch stop during a day visit to Segovia! This place reflects the vibe of this magnificent city - medieval sharm! Multiple rooms with cozy decor! While tons of artifacts all over the place - it doesnt give a sense of clutter! Service was professional quick and friendly! Menu is traditional Spanish dishes - we tried a little of everything - we also had various soups - i personally ordered castile soup - it was ok. Probably would opt to try something else next time - but not because of poor quality - but more of a taste preference! House wine was great! Rich and tasty! Prices are a bit above average so if you want a more budget meal - this is not the place!! Overall - solid 5! 4 stars only for food and thats only because of taste matter! But certainly no regrets. I would not advise to drive there - park somewhere outside the old city and walk Segovia!!! It is worth every step

This restaurant is located very centrally in Segovia. When you enter, you’re greeted by very friendly staff which are super professional. The restaurant itself is very traditionally decorated. The food served is traditionally Spanish. The Cochinillo is one of the best in Segovia. Highly recommended to also order the starter plate which contains different specialties from the region!

The Royal Palace of La Granja of San Ildefonso is a 17th-century baroque palace located in the town of San Ildefonso, just 12 kilometers east of Segovia. The palace and its stunning formal French gardens were modeled after the Palace of Versailles by Philip V. Construction began in 1721, resulting in a highly impressive complex with majestic rooms adorned with antiques, paintings, and tapestries.
Wow! Beautiful place to visit & explore. The palace gardens are vast and full of wonderful surprises. The extravagant bronze water fountains are truly magnificent when functioning. All with Greek mythology tales to tell. The palace can be viewed for €10 for visitors, and gardens are FREE. A lovely experience for all.

👍🏽👍🏽 Worth the trip, FREE to access outside gardens (most glorious we’ve ever seen) 🚍 GETTING HERE from Segovia is 20 minute drive, buses aren’t frequent. In Segovia, go to bus depot (separate bus company from those operating inside Segovia), pay for your ticket on the bus, €3.70 round trip, CASH ONLY (bus driver has change). Buy food in segovia to picnic out here. ❌🐶 no pets. Perfect way to spend a few hours, even if the fountains are being repaired or are turned off due to drought (check their we site). Technically you cannot bring in food, but many people picnic inside (just don’t leave any trash). But you CAN eat just outside of the entrance in the lovely park—there are stone benches. 🚾 ♿️ Very clean, accessible bathrooms. Cobblestone and small stone paths. You pay to enter the art museum inside.

Very nice, huge park, ample space for kids to run around. We spent 4 hours, without the palace itself, and didn't see everything. The park entry is free. In July they were repairing some fountains and for us the water plays were not on. Still, lots to see. Food is not permitted or available in the park, plan eating before or after in the nearby restaurants. Budget some time for strolling around the old town outside the park.

We visited from Florida, USA. We drove by La Granja. This is a Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, is a royal palace and gardens built adjacent to the town in 1721-24. Nice gardens but all the fountains are drained so whilst it was free entry it was quite a disappointment. It said the palace was free on a Wednesday afternoon but apparently that’s only for locals so we didn’t go in as I was a bit frustrated tbh

It is actually a museum with really ancient tapestries, paintings and sculptures. The tapestries were most amazing considering these are cloth based and were from the 15th-16th centuries. Exquisite chandeliers. Entry is €9. We went on the weekend but there was not crowd. The gardens are also beautiful!

When visiting Segovia, don't miss the enchanting Plaza de Medina del Campo, a historical site that showcases a fusion of Christian and Jewish religion. The area also features the Romanesque Church of St. Martin and the main places of Jewish Segovia, including its old main Synagogue. As you continue your tour, take in the majestic Cathedral of Segovia at Plaza Mayor with its exterior guarded by gargoyles and prophetic angels.
You come across this plaza while you walk towards the Segovia cathedral from the Aqua duct, this is a beautiful area with few sculptures standing tall and lot of shops and restaurants nearby. Great vibes and definitely worth a lot of pictures. Do visit!

Its name comes from Medina del Campo, which was the center of commercial trade in medieval Spain. It has served as one of Segovia's important social and cultural centers. In the center is a statue of Juan Bravo, who played an important role in the Revolt of the Comuneros in the 1520s and fought for the freedom of the citizens.
Seokjin H — Google review
Above a third of the way up the hill to the Alcazar is public square, Plaza de Medina del Campo. Flanked by beautiful Church of San Martin on one side and by nice looking hotels and shops on the other. At the centre of the square is a set of steps that take you up to the old watch tower. On the way up you'll also pass a monument to Juan Bravo, one of the leaders of the failed Revolt of the Comuneros. There's a restaurant near the top of the steps and because it's about 5 metres above the street level, it's a nice pace to sit and people watch. Don't go out of the way to see this though, as you're more likely to be walking past to get to the Cathedra, Alcazar or Plaza Mayor.

Iglesia de San Millán is a remarkable 12th-century church in Segovia, known for its monumental Romanesque architecture. Situated beyond the fortified historic center, it offers stunning views of the old town. The church features a Mozarabic tower, atrium, and apses, showcasing Segovian 12th-century art. Its architecture reflects both Romanesque style and Islamic influence with Caliphate-inspired vaulting and ornamentation.
Beautiful church. We stumbled across this after dinner one evening to find an elegantly illuminated church that appeared historic and memorizing. Wanted to go inside but it appeared they were having a service.
Callum K — Google review
The Church of San Millán is a true Romanesque jewel, one of the most important and best-preserved temples in Segovia and in all of Castile. Its exterior, with a beautiful porticoed atrium, immediately captures the eye, while the sculptural decoration of the capitals—featuring scenes such as the Three Wise Men—adds an extraordinary artistic richness. Inside, the Romanesque ensemble of the main altar stands out as a highlight. Built at the beginning of the 12th century, the church has retained its solemn beauty through the centuries, and its designation as a National Monument in 1931 feels more than deserved.
Q G — Google review
The Romanesque architecture for churches is the more common one in Segovia. This church is a fine example. It took two centuries to finish building Iglesia de San Millán (11th to 13th). The results are simply beautiful. It's unfortunate that many churches in Segovia remain closed most of the time. As a tourist, you only get to see them from the outside. Try to get in on Sundays when some of them are open for liturgy.

Iglesia de San Martín is a medieval church located in Segovia, founded in the 12th century and expanded over time with various architectural styles. The church showcases Castilian Romanesque architecture and features notable elements such as the Gothic Capilla de Herrera, which houses the tombs of the Herrera family, and the Capilla Mayor with a remarkable recumbent figure of Christ by Gregorio Fernandez.
Iglesia de San Martín (Saint Martin Church) - Built in the twelfth century, it already existed in 1117, because in the testament of Domingo Petit his abbot appears as a witness. It is located in the current square of Juan Bravo, halfway between the Cathedral of Santa María and the Roman aqueduct. It is a temple of Mozarabic origin with Romanesque style. The temple differs in part from the original, as some parts have been reconstructed or eliminated, as is the case of the central apse, which was replaced. It has three naves, a transept with a brick dome and a tripartite head. Of the temple they are remarkable the bell tower, that is of Romanesque-Mudejar style, and owns arches of brick on stone columns. It is also remarkable its porticoed gallery, which surrounds the entire church except the head. This portico has semicircular arches that rest on columns with Romanesque capitals. The cover of the western facade is one of the largest doors of Spanish Romanesque. It is a cover of five archivolts, decorated with plant motifs. It is sheltered by a portico, like a narthex, whose opening is a large set of archivolts supported by human statues representing characters from the Old Testament. (Wikipedia)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Iglesia de San Martín – Segovia The Iglesia de San Martín is one of those hidden gems in Segovia that quietly takes your breath away. Built in the 12th century, this Romanesque church is a masterpiece that has stood for nearly 900 years. It sits right in the heart of the city, surrounded by arcaded galleries, and is instantly recognizable with its striking Mudejar-style bell tower and beautifully carved stone details. The church was originally constructed by the powerful Caballeros de San Martín and later became a hub of religious and civic life. What’s fascinating is how it blends Romanesque architecture with Moorish influences — a reminder of the diverse cultural history of Spain. The stone porticoes with semicircular arches give it such character, and the sculpted capitals show the level of artistry from that era. Personally, I loved walking around the church, taking in all the angles of the façade. My wife and I took plenty of photos here — the kind of place where the architecture feels alive, telling its own story through every arch and column. It’s peaceful, inspiring, and a must-see for anyone who appreciates history and design.

This is a perfect example of a medieval church and located just down from the Plaza Major in Segovia. The interior is simply styled with a barrel vaulted ceiling and a beautifully gilded altar. The exterior has the original carvings around the doors and in the corners but of real interest are the capitals of the pillars. They are all different and in fairly good condition considering their age and exposure to the elements. A lovely church to visit.

Nice but not amazing after having visited Segovia Cathedral. You'll certainly pass by it when walking from the Aqueduct to the Cathedral (and further to the Alcazar) or the other way. There is a fee to visit it. If you have enough time in Segovia you might visit it, but not if it mean having less time for the Alcazar, the Cathedral or the Aqueduct, the main attractions in this city.

Nestled in the heart of Segovia, El Sitio is a charming restaurant that perfectly captures the essence of regional cuisine. The establishment boasts both a lively bar on the ground floor and an upstairs restaurant, making it an ideal spot for any occasion. El Sitio prides itself on using high-quality ingredients to create traditional dishes at reasonable prices.
We were finally able to get here for lunch on a Sunday and it was worth the wait! We had the mixed salad, ham croquettes, and pork in grandma's clay pot. With drinks for two our total was less than 40 euros! Love the atmosphere and the service was friendly and efficient. Note that the kitchen is only open from 1200 to 1630 and 2000 to 2330, so plan accordingly. This place is very popular with the locals and was completely full and spilling into the street when we left at about 1400.

I’m amazed by the perfect flavor of the famous cochinillo. The skin separates from the fat, feeling crunchy and tenderness in one bite. The service is wonderful. The waiters are well dressed like gentlemen and offer attentive service. Although I sit by the table for lunch, I love the vibes in the bar area at noon time. Everyone is standing there, chatting and drinking beer. So cool!

What a find. We were really well looked after by Xavier who had offered to speak English but when I joked that I had been rehearsing my Spanish he spoke only in Spanish and helped me out when I got stuck. When we said we liked to share our main courses he asked the chef to serve us a fish course on two plates and then a meat course on two plates, very civilised. He also advised with the desserts, when we inadvertently ordered two very similar ones he recommended choosing an alternative to provide variety. The food itself was absolutely delicious. We had the seabass in a garlic and tomato sauce, then veal escalope with chips. For dessert we had the segovian speciality, a cake with custard, and a most amazing "fig cake" which was like homemade ice-cream with figs and cream. Everything beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. All the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Conchillas and judiciones were the foods I wanted to try when in Segovia. That’s what I found at El Sitio. Judiciones at $8 were 5 stars but the conchillas at $28 were 4 stars because they didn’t have any seasoning and some parts were dry. Some servers were attentive and would ask if I was finished with my dish but some were not attentive aka they would dust off their dish cloth in front of my table. The music was American sad pop that’s quite unfitting for the ambiance. It is recommended to find a different restaurant that has better pricing if you are not looking to spend $50 for a meal.

Waiters didn’t see us at first but were more attentive and made up for it once they realized we were new guests. They also gave us broth from the Cochinillo they serve to warm us up, a nice gesture. We ordered: - Croquetas (underwhelming, I’ve had better) - salpicón (very good) - chorizo and potato (my favorite) - tortilla Coffee was very good here as well! I’m sure the non tapas menu is even better.

The bread, olive oil and especially the balsamic vinegar was absolutely out of this world. I’ve tried to find it online and can’t, unfortunately. The service was excellent. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. Since we needed to get back to our bus back to Madrid, we informed the wait staff and they were very timely. Make this restaurant a priority on your trip to Segovia. You’ll be happy you did.

Excellent value for the tourist menu. Roast pig was very nice and delicious. Sad was that it cooled down quickly for sitting outside. Service was prompt and nice. Beautiful view and vibes to sit outdoor during sunset time.

It was two of was We spent 44 euros per person for one dish and one desert (shared) 1/4 of lamb plus the Segovia’s traditional desert with one salad (ensalada) without drinks was about 88 euros. The lamb was good some may find it smelly. I could only eat it with salad. But my friend loved it. I recommend the dessert.

It took a while to get seated. It seemed like they were closing. There weren’t a lot of people in the restaurant. It was dinner time (American time it was 18:00). I had a list of must try Spanish foods and drinks and roasted suckling pig was on the list. I like pork. Especially ribs and pork chops. However, I was not impressed by the roasted suckling pig. It reminded me of chitlins. But the wine was good. The potatoes were tasty. The service was typical for Spain. I would go back, but pick another dish.

The service is FAST!! If you’re in a hurry, this place is highly recommended. The ordered food hit the table in approximately 10 minutes after ordering. And it arrived hot, freshly prepared. The cheese and jam appetizer was the highlight for me — that was quite enjoyable. I don’t know what to expect with the monkfish meatballs, but they were surprisingly good — loved the sauce. The salad was a salad. The food coming out quick is the highlight of the customer service experience. The server was in quite a rush bouncing from table to table trying to move people out quickly — he wasn’t the friendliest. If you’re pressed for time, this is the place to try.

We had lunch here about a week ago. Service and food was very good. Waiter made good recommendations, portions are huge as prices are as well not small but you get good quality and huge size portions. Croquetas were amazing, chorizo and the pig were also very good.

Restaurante Taberna López is a charming eatery located in Segovia, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere that takes you on a journey through time. The restaurant is known for its emphasis on homestyle meals, particularly roast meats, served in a warm setting with stone walls and wooden beams. Visitors are welcomed by the owner who provides attentive service despite language barriers. Guests highly recommend trying the cochinillo (suckling pig), which is described as perfectly cooked and flavorful.
Fantastic dinning experience with great attention and fantastic food! The suckling pig is so crispy outside and so tender inside. Much better than the one so tried from the famous Meson Cándido. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try the famous Segovia Suckling Pig!

What an incredible experience at this beautiful restaurant! We visited on a quiet weekday night out of season, but the owner made the utmost effort for our dining experience. His recommendations for both food and wine were excellent and we felt very welcome.

Amazing food, we had a half pig between 4 people along with the recommended beans and soup and it was amazing. You truly feel like you are back when knights were wearing armor, lasses were slinging beer and the goats were roaming free. Highly recommend!

We came on a Thursday at 8pm and were the first guests, The owner handles everything himself and was a great host - despite not talking any English he knew how to communicate and help with the selection. We had a wine of recommendation - very good price value (15.80), the traditional bean dish - a bit bland for my taste (I like the Mexican version better) and the suckling pig for two - perfect on point and could have served three. Shared the only available dessert and had a coffee - both perfect - to finish. He served us a homemade Honey liqueur on the house and we were in a happy food coma. Local atmosphere, great food and a personal service experience - 10/10 would visit again. PS: He offers free taxi to his place, so maybe call him for that Improvement point: The breadbasket was a bit dry and bland

I visited this place recently. This was my second time in a month, and we always sat at the terrace. I found the food to be very tasty and of great quality, with a great selection. However, I'm not giving it 5 stars because the waiters could be a bit more friendly, and this is something I experienced both times. Delicious food with beautiful presentation. We had the suckling pig - crispy skin, succulent and tender meat, well seasoned, amazing potato on the side; stuffed leeks - refreshing, interesting textures; and flat bread topped with creamy pork and mushroom - crispy bread, flavourful topping. Prices are slightly higher than average, but portion is very generous. Location of the restaurant is slightly hidden on a quiet alley, but easy to find. Excellent service - swift, courteous, not pushy. Nice, cozy ambience; very clean; charming interior. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a cochinillo that won't break the bank, this is definitely the place. Booking recommended as it gets quite busy during the weekends. Fast service too. The atmosphere is like a family restaurant atmosphere, clean and warm. It’s pretty good. The food is tender and tasty. I like the soup and squid. The location is not on the main street but it’s like less than one minute away, which is perfect for us as it’s not a crowded with tourists. After we told the staff we were kind of in the rush, as we are with group tour, they arranged the dishes very efficiently and they’re warm and friendly. Overall, highly recommend.

A two minutes walk from Real Segovia Hotel, the restaurant has a pleasant and warm atmosphere. I had not eaten all day so I showed up without reservation at 8 pm, so for Spain is quiet early so I was given a table without a problem. I had the risotto with mushrooms and bacalao well seasoned and salted it was so delicious I enjoyed every bite. A glass of rioja to drink with and yes I know red wine and risotto but it is cold outside and the warm creamy texture of the risotto would have been ruined by a cold drink (my taste). A very large portion for one person, still had room for desert. I tried the Coulant de chocolate con helado de cafe (chocolate volcano) nice, soft and warm. Very nice! The service is fantastic, the food is great, I still have a few days around here so I will be back.

This restaurant serves typical Segoviano dishes. It’s a good 5-10 minute walk from the aqueduct. The ambiance is less crowded. We made a reservation for lunch. Awful place. We had a reservation at 15:30, they didn't seat us until 16:00, and didn't immediately bring the menu. Then we had a vegetarian and a vegan in the group, asked what they could eat. El Fogón Sefardí is a restaurant in a medieval-style building with murals of suckling pigs that dates back to the 1400s. There's a pretty reasonable price tag for all the food on offer, and the setting is charming and cozy.

Came for the €18.50 three course menu which also included red wine (about two glasses very drinkable), mineral water and bread. Food was superb, cooked to perfection. We had pork cheek and cod for mains. Both amazing for the price. Had to wait around for a few minutes in the bar to be served, but was worth it. Nicely air conditioned inside and historic interiors, nothing fancy but nice. Compared with prices elsewhere nearby this was great value and so tasty

Elegant, beautifully decorated, delicious food. I first heard about this restaurant in a TV show that praised the best restaurants in Segovia that one must dine in, even if only for tapas and drinks. They list their tapas by the year of award, and 2007, 2010 and 2014 are must-eats. Bartender was sociable, attentive, and very pleasant. Eat and feel a little bit of the enchantment of Jewish Spain. Love this place.

Restaurante La Concepción is a classic and family-friendly restaurant situated in the heart of Segovia, right on Plaza Mayor. It offers a lively atmosphere and features a terrace where guests can enjoy their meals while taking in the vibrant surroundings. The restaurant is known for its affordable and simple lunch options as well as sit-down evening meals. One of its standout dishes is the octopus with white sauce, which has been highly praised by visitors.
One of the best meals of my travels by far. Elegant and so simply sophisticated. A classic and not touristy at all if you are looking for that. Ask for the red peppers off me ur simply served. Lemon sorbet with cava - incredible but off menu. Loved every second.
Marcia K — Google review
Certainly, here’s a scathing and detailed review: I had high expectations for La Concepción in Segovia, but my visit was a complete disappointment. To start, the food was bland and uninspired. The supposed “signature dish,” a roasted pork belly, arrived with a soggy, rubbery skin instead of the crispy crackling you’d expect. The accompanying vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mush, and the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can. The service was equally abysmal. Our server seemed indifferent, bordering on rude, and acted as though we were inconveniencing them by being there. It took over 20 minutes just to get our drink order, and another 40 minutes for the food to arrive—even though the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. The portions were laughable. I ordered a main course, but the serving size would barely qualify as an appetizer. My partner’s meal wasn’t much better—three small ravioli on a plate with a sad sprinkling of cheese. And the prices? Outrageous. For two mains, a bottle of mediocre wine, and a shared dessert (which, by the way, was a rock-hard slice of “homemade” cheesecake), we paid over €120. For that price, I’d expect Michelin-star quality, not what felt like a reheated meal from a chain restaurant. Save your money and your time—there are far better dining options in Segovia that don’t rely on inflated prices and a reputation that is clearly undeserved. Avoid La Concepción at all costs.
Tssi L — Google review
Restaurante La Concepción offers a delightful dining experience. During our family lunch in the first week of January 2024, we enjoyed a variety of appetizers that showcased a range of flavors and textures, setting a positive tone for the meal. The main course, a perfectly cooked steak, was the highlight of our dining experience. It was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. Although I can’t recall the names of the appetizers and dessert, they were both delicious and complemented the meal well. The service was attentive and friendly, making our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience.
Jonathan P — Google review
My husband and I visited this restaurant for lunch on a Thursday in late March, it had been recommended on a blog about visiting Segovia. I loved the plaza location where we could watch a farmer's market and we had a view of the Cathedral we had just toured. We sat out on the patio because there was no wait for a table versus inside. While it was chilly, the server went around turning on the heating stoves, which made it very pleasant. We had some delicious crusty bread as a starter, each a bottled water, and entree. We were close enough to talk to people at the table next to us and our food was quite tasty. Our total was US $65
Chelsea D — Google review
This restaurant deserves 5 stars for the simple reason that it's one of the few restaurants which serves food between 4 and 6 in the afternoon. If you missed the lunch windows, there aren't many places available, but this is one of them. It is true that it was more expensive and the service could have been a little more friendly, but the food was good and the view over the central Plaza made it worth it.
Radu C — Google review

Restaurante La Concepción offers a truly serene dining atmosphere that immerses you in a peaceful ambience. Imagine being surrounded by the delightful chirping of birds and distant church bells, creating a tranquil backdrop for your meal. It's the perfect place to unwind with a glass of rich red wine. During our visit, we were drawn in by the charming setting after exploring the nearby cathedral. I opted for the Pipito Bocodillo dish, which was a delightful combination of flavours complemented the warm, freshly baked bread. The steak meat was cooked to perfection, tender, and juicy. My uncle savoured the mixto sandwich, which he thoroughly enjoyed. As we dined, I indulged in two delicious cappuccinos, all while taking in the picturesque views. The attentive staff at Restaurante La Concepción added to the overall experience, providing friendly service and displaying remarkable efficiency. Their patience, especially with my limited Spanish skills, was greatly appreciated. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines relaxation, exquisite food, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be.

Nestled beside the Eresma River and near the iconic Alcázar, the Museo Real Casa de Moneda de Segovia is a fascinating glimpse into Spain's industrial heritage. Originally established as a royal mint in the 16th century under Philip II, this historic site showcases the evolution of coin production from its inception in 1586 until it ceased operations in 1869. While not located within Segovia’s Old City, it's easily accessible and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Small museum, a little difficult to get to without a car but so totally worth it! The place houses 2 museums, the moneda and the aqueduct. We only had time to do the aqueduct unfortunately it between the two, we had to prioritize. This museo has fascinating information about the construction of the aqueduct, its history and how it benefited the town. There’s a short film which was done well. Small delightful dioramas were meticulously created with realistic everyday scenes in a construction site. Truly captivating. A must if you’re intrigued and in awe by the aqueduct of Segovia.

This mint museum is a hidden treasure! Not only does it cover the history and evolution of ancient minting technology in Segovia, but it also features a wonderful interpretation center about the Aqueduct's history. It's located behind the Segovia Castle. Our Cabify driver happened to drop us off there, so we were lucky to start our Segovia day trip with that background knowledge. It worked out perfectly. From the mint museum, we walked across the street and climbed about 300 steps to the castle. The view along the way was breathtaking. Highly recommend! P.S. We had intended to take the Avant high-speed train from Madrid to Segovia, but the city rail experienced some delays, causing us to miss our train. Fortunately, from the Madrid Chamartín station, we were able to hire a driver via the Cabify app to take us to Segovia. The ride was an hour and 10 minutes, and it cost us 60 euros at the time (a weekday, late morning travel in June). The cab fare was comparable to the train tickets cost for our family of four. Our Cabify driver was very nice, and we got to practice some pleasant conversation in Spanish with him during our ride.

A really excellent, interesting museum by the river. The entrance fee of €5 is extremely good value as it is easy to spend a couple of hours in there. The audio guide available in a range of languages is very informative and actually quite amusing too! There are many interesting exhibits charting the history of the building and the development of money production over the centuries. The reception staff were most welcome and helpful. There is a good café / restaurant just next door too. Well worth a visit.

The museum is educational and everything is presented well. It also includes an interesting section which talks about the history of the aqueduct.

Such an interesting place, wonderfully explained with your individual audio guide. In an incomparable green area with a beautiful restaurant just by the river and the King's fresh garden perfectly kept. A must in Segovia. Don't you miss it!!

Very well done museum with displays and audio guides in both Spanish and English. Clearly put together by a team that knows how to present information in an engaging way. Highly recommend a visit. Easy to walk to from town with some very pleasant paths to follow nearby.

Excellent museum in the old Mint, about 15 minutes walk downhill from the Cathedral. The most exciting part for me was the brilliant display of items and works of art by Ellas de Andres who is over 90 and still gives demonstrations twice a week on the equipment here. The museum has a pleasant cafe opposite the old waterwheels.

The Riofrío Royal Palace is a beautiful palace with ornate interiors, surrounded by a vast forest of oak and ash trees. The palace visit includes spectacular chambers and a hunting museum. The building is wonderful and the grounds are lovely as well. Very economical as well.
This is my favourite palace in the surroundings of Segovia. I visit it frequently and take all my guests here. Children love the animal part of the museum. Another great thing about this place is that you can bring your own picnic and have it next to the palace.

Really enjoyed this royal palace. I had the place to myself so could examine everything in peace. Only 5 euros to enter. Really interesting artwork and decoration. Great architecture. The palace is also located in a very surreal landscape and has a short trail to experience the local nature. I saw a lot of interesting birds and some deer. Great experience close to Segovia.

Absolutely underrated. It was pin-drop quiet and very serene. Well maintained and superb views and architecture. No tourists around but very accessible and no wait whatsoever, almost empty parking lot. A must-see for those who love history and nature.

I was enchanted by the Royal Palace of Riofrio. It is set in a desolate landscape, far and wide, nothing, amazing!cOnly 15 km from Grancha, it is connected with the monarchs. Together with the Palacio de la Granja, they are the two royal residences in the Segovia area.Sumptuous interiors. And the breathtaking approach to the castle. Definitely worth exploring! Nice staff.

La Tropical is a popular spot conveniently located on the road leading up from the aqueduct to the cathedral in Segovia. The restaurant offers traditional chocolate and churros, allowing visitors to experience local flavors. Guests can also enjoy an American breakfast with eggs, ham, and bread or opt for evening meals at normal times, unlike many other places in the area. The friendly staff provides attentive service whether you're stopping by for a meal or just some tapas and beers in the afternoon.
A nice place for breakfast! I love the lovely scene where people are sitting there talking to each other. The huevos fritos with jamon are not bad. When you order churros, they don't come with chocolate. The orange juice is pricey but is really fresh and big. And It's close to the acueducto.
Vanessa W — Google review
This place is mostly for locals as the staff seemed to know their customers. We were excited to eat at a truly local place as we had done in many other towns in Spain. However, the service was abrupt, not very friendly - probably the least friendly restaurant during our 5 week vacation in Spain. We ignored the reluctant and inattentive staff attitude and refused to let this bother us while we were on vacation. There were only a few tables occupied as we went a little past 2 pm and the people had left by the time we started ordering. Food wise, the torrija was pretty yummy. We ordered too much for the mediocre quality of the rest of the food. This is in comparison to the other restaurants we’ve been to. I would return for the torrija. Nothing else.
Anna M — Google review
Unfortunately, the service at La Tropical in Segovia felt unwelcoming, especially for non-locals. The staff seemed indifferent, making it difficult to get served. The quality of the snacks was underwhelming—torreznos were chewy rather than crispy, and other items lacked care in preparation. On top of that, pricing felt inconsistent, with unexpected charges for each item. Overall, not the best place if you’re looking for good service and well-prepared snacks.
Stéphane S — Google review
Nice little coffee shop at the entrance of segovia. I think this is a great stop to grab a hot coffee after you the see the aqueduct and before you venture further into the city.
Andrei W — Google review
I visited this place with my family and partner and I really liked the atmosphere and the female waiter was very friendly. We had a fantastic experience and I recommend this place to have traditional chocolate and churros like a local. I also liked that you can add the sugar yourself or have it without, something important in these times when sugar reduction on the diet becomes relevant.
Suberri M — Google review
Perfect churro! Not too sweet Perfect choco latte And not that friendly servers
Hyunkyung H — Google review
Waiters/bar staff need to understand that when a toddler is having a melt down and the bill has been requested, give the parent the bill ASAP. It is a bit like having a drunk person bothering other customers in the place and saying, "naaaaah. We'll let them continue bothering our clients instead of dealing with it." I stood at the bar and asked three times before it was dealt with. Meanwhile, a couple at a booth were like, "I don't know why they don't take the baby outside?" Yeah. I love having parenting criticized because the staff priority is everything and everyone else. We got huevos con jamón. The jamón was so bad my toddler spit it out. I was like, "I'll finish it then. I love jamón." Nope, also that bad that i ended spitting it out. And expensive. The only reason I went there was the place i had been the previous day was closed. Same menu items cost €5 with better service for what I paid for €7 there. (And the surcharge for sitting at a table bothers me too. Worse service at a table and you sure as heck can't do a toddler or baby at a bar.)
Laura H — Google review
Stopped in twice. In the morning and on our way out of Segovia in the late afternoon. Had an excellent American breakfast, eggs, ham, bread. Did not try the churros. Service was very good both times. In the afternoon stopped for a couple of beers and some tapas they have outdoor seating. Attentive service both times.

Housed in a former fortress, this enduring museum offers an extensive look into the local archaeology, ethnology, and fine arts. The exhibits within showcase a wide array of artifacts dating from prehistoric times to the modern era.
Great city museum with quite an extensive and well curated collection. You basically can learn the history and culture about this region from prehistoric time to present. Very friendly staff. Recommend come early and you can get the see the museum all by yourself. If you are senior you get in free. This is a hidden gem of Segovia.

One of the best value museums I’ve ever been into. It’s highly under-rated, an amazing number of artefacts from Segovia from prehistoric through to modern times. This town has been through a lot. Super quiet, we were the only ones here, the bus and day tourists seem to bypass it. Excellent and only €1 per person for entry.

A great way to spend an afternoon. :) It’s free and offers a concise, engaging overview of the city's history from ancient times to the 20th century. Relaxed atmosphere—definitely worth a visit!
Ofek N — Google review
The Museo de Segovia (Museum of Segovia) has a little of everything that has anything to do with the history and evolution of the city. At the beginning of my visit, I thought that it was going to be an anthropological museum. Soon after, it turned into a history museum showing artefacts from Roman times. A few rooms later it became a museum with a good collection of religious art from the middle ages and the Renaissance. Various industries that were part of the city's history were highlighted in other rooms. The entrance fee to this rich and varied collection is not more than 1 Euro!
Georges Y — Google review
EXCELLENT museum covering local history, from pre-historic to modern times. 1€ entry

Hidden out of sight and at first we thought closed because of the reflection from the barred gate. Enthusiast staff wanted to ensure we saw everything but they also watch you to ensure nothing is touched. Quite right because everything is very accessible, meaning you really can get a good look. Fascinating stuff and I wish more had been in English. I had to use my iPhone camera translate app all the time.

It is a very interesting museum abiout Segovia's history from pre-roman,celto-iberic period until xvii centuary, when Sivilla was an importan industrial town, with textile , glass and coins industies, the spanish industrial revolution was born here!!!

This is the last touristic attraction that I have visited in 2 days in Segovia. After 10 museums /churches/palace/factories, this museum was a good summary of the life and history in Segovia. There's a great part dedicated to the wool production (that one can't find in the other museums). Several pieces are described in English and audioguide was not available) although some items had the headphones sign beside. There's good internet coverage, one can willingly use Google Translate to scan the Spanish writings and better understand the story. Stuff was very kind and followed me throughout the museum to indicate me the path by gestures. For 3 floors of stories and items, the admission ticket is only 1€.

If you're a fan of abstract and contemporary art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Esteban Vicente is a must-visit. Located in a converted 15th-century palace that was once owned by Henry IV, this museum features the extraordinary works of Spanish painter Esteban Vicente from the 20th century. The gallery's modern exhibition spaces are entirely dedicated to Vicente's extensive collection, showcasing 153 works in various mediums.
We went on a Saturday afternoon and practically had the place to ourselves. There were two artists featured and the art was very engaging and enjoyable. Best of all it's free!

Situated in a couple of buildings in the center of Segovia is the Museum of Contemporary Art Esteban Vicente. It's worth visiting if you have the time and inclination. You won't need a lof time to cover the various exhibits on display.
Georges Y — Google review
It is okay, i guess you rely on whether you have any interest in the artist, it is more focussed on one or two rather than a collection of different artists
Russell K — Google review
Most of the museum was dedicated to the temporary exhibition. It doesn't take long to visit, and it's free, so I recommend it.
Tim G — Google review
Overall very nice. The Esteban Vicente collection currently on display is interesting in that his work covered multiple styles reflecting different aspects of his personal and artistic evolution, even though it was not all overly impressive individual pieces. The building itself has some nice features. The auditorium inside is good to peek at as well.

The friendly service provided by the staff adds to the overall experience.

Cozy and quality bar in the heart of Segovia´s historic core. It seems to be the oldest licensed bar in Segovia. But most importantly, it is probably the most notable craft beer location in the city. It is steps away from the cathedral and the main square where it also typically has a few open air tables. It has a few rotating craft taps, with two of them commonly dedicated to Segovia brewers (San Frutos and Octavo Arte), and also has a good cooler with contemporary and classic cans and bottles. It operates as a full bar otherwise, with plenty of activity managed by professional and knowledgeable staff. Serves tasty cold tapas with the drinks, but has no food menu or kitchen per se. It´s a great stop during every visit to Segovia.

(Translated by Google) What I liked least was that some light bulbs did not allow us to see the Alcazar illuminated. The view was spectacular until they turned them on. We had green salad, potato omelette, pickled quail and cuttlefish. Everything is very good, especially the quail. (Original) Lo que menos me gusto, es que alguna bombilla no dejaba ver al Alcazar iluminado. La vista era espectacular hasta que las encendieron. Iglesia de San Clemente is a 12th-century Romanesque church located in Segovia, Spain. It features a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles and is often overlooked by visitors despite its excellent state of preservation. The church's architecture, including blind arched apse and Mudejar bell, showcases the typical Romanesque style of Segovia.

Iglesia de San Clemente - The church is characterized by a semicircular apse of three arches, with columns. It would retain the Romanesque construction of the portico, and two portals: that of the nave, and the lateral, which gives entrance into the church. The tower is of low height and was revoked in the eighteenth century The altars are baroque and Churrigueresque. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was attached to the mother parish of San Millán (Wikipedia).

(Translated by Google) It is one of the many churches of the Catholic cult in the city of Segovia. It is in Romanesque style from the Xll-Xlll Century. It is very small and very close to the aqueduct. It has only one ship. I don't know how they celebrate masses. It is very well preserved, it had two entrance doors, but one of them is bricked up. La Torre suffered several medications due to attacks during the War of Independence. (Original) Es una de las tantas iglesias del culto católico de la ciudad de Segovia. (Translated by Google) Interesting Romanesque church built between the 12th and 13th centuries, located in the commercial heart of the city, very close to the aqueduct. It has a single nave, an atrium facing south, a large tower at the head and good execution plans. In its origins it was located outside the walls, next to the Verdugo bridge that crossed the Clamores stream, now buried. It is popularly known as the convent of the Reparadoras after the religious order that has run it since 1935, although it was previously occupied by Salesian nuns from Portugal.
