Pub
Nestled in the heart of Weston-Super-Mare, The Black Cat Micropub is a charming little haven for beer enthusiasts. This pint-sized pub, adorned with whimsical feline decor, offers an inviting atmosphere that feels both cozy and slightly gothic. Housed in a former clothing store and conveniently located near Grove Park, it features a striking mural of a black cat that adds to its unique character.
This was a fabulous pub for drinking, featured a dark theme that feels captivating to visit during the night! The mural of a black cat strengthens the theme and the dots of light around compliment the darkness well, including at the slick counter. Beverages are listed all around even above the counter which is a solid touch, I appreciated how the coasters and logos appear on walls too. I was privileged to have a Strawberry Cider here as these drinks are easiest to find down in Somerset, seating is comfortable and had been kept clean too!

Small micropub with a good selection of real ales. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Card payment only. Nice little place with music being piped through which was of my era. A great hand painted picture on the main wall which was wonderful. Enjoyable place. Pleasant experience. Enjoyed my visit.

Absolute gem of a pub. Stumbled across this the other night after our usual venue was closed and so glad we gave it a try. Huge selection of ales cider beer gin and other spirits. Tasty choice of nuts crisps and other snack. A warm welcome and nice atmosphere. Fantastically decorated. Just an absolutely brilliant pub to visit. Will be back for more!
Rhys D — Google review
Small-sized pub with plenty of locals and a reasonable range of beers, though only a few cask ales available. The feline-themed décor is unusual and gives it a distinct look.
Evgeny N — Google review
A little gem of a pub. Very chilled. Bar staff very helpful in the wide choice of beers. Perfect if your looking for a real ale pub in Weston super Mare.
Mark T — Google review
We only had a sandwich here, but it was lovely. We tried several beers etc here and all of them were very good. The service was brilliant and the staff very polite, friendly and extremely knowledgeable of all the drinks. Had a really lovely few hours here. Well worth a visit if in Weston-super-Mare.

Tuesday 9th September 2025 This is a belting micro pub. This pub has a fantastic music played mostly 1970s blues /rock bands whilst i was in. The clientelle was fantastic propper real ale drinkers The pub had a ample collection of real ales of a rarer persuasion which were all well looked after by a landlord that appreciates real ale. I will now state that when coming to Western super_Mare to drink real ale this pub is an Essential visit. Well done all involved
Darren S — Google review
Quaint little micro-pub just outside the main Weston town centre, nice atmosphere, helpful and friendly bar-staff, impressive selection of cask and keg ales and ciders. Could have stayed here all evening if we didn't have somewhere else to be!

The Nut Tree Worle is a family-run gastropub known for its delectable British dishes, real ale, and impressive wine selection. It's a great spot for families with children, offering a spacious beer garden and dedicated play area. The venue is dog-friendly and features a warming wood fireplace. Visitors can enjoy an extensive menu that includes upmarket pub grub, afternoon tea, and Sunday roast.
A wonderful big welcome as we entered the car park (literally, it's painted on the tarmac). Well kept, clean and tidy paths and outside area, which is gated and dog friendly. Treats for our pup were offered to us at the bar. We had a late lunch after a long day walking and enjoyed speedy, polite service of very tasty food. We ordered the panko chicken burger and a salad of prawns, crayfish, smoked salmon and avocado with a side of cheesy, garlic ciabatta. Very fresh and utterly divine. The real ales were good too 👍🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (9/10) Visited The Nut Tree Pub for their Wednesday Night Burger Night and had an amazing experience! The deal — 2 burgers and 2 drinks for £35 — is fantastic value. The burgers were absolutely delicious and really filling. The pub itself was spotless, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole evening even more enjoyable. We even tried French toast for dessert — a first for me — and it was surprisingly amazing! Overall, I’d give it a strong 9 out of 10 and would definitely recommend The Nut Tree to anyone looking for great food, friendly service, and a relaxed pub vibe. Will definitely be back! 📍 34 Ebdon Road, Weston-Super-Mare

Travelling down to Cornwall, after a little research we found the nut tree to be our half way point so reserved a table. What an excellent choice! So accommodating towards are approximate arrival time, and greeted with a friendly welcome. Very clean and quick service all round. Food was delicious and a fair price. Recommend the panko chicken burger! Beautiful day, so we decided to sit the beer garden afterwards. Great atmosphere. Thanks guys, wonderful stop off for us!

Absolutely lovely place and great atmosphere to it too. They gave us a doggy menu which I think is a great idea as it was cheap for how many treats came in the pot. Our food came out within 30 minutes even though they were still a bit busy inside. Food portions were amazing value for the price. Would definitely recommend to anyone

Brilliant pub! Awesome food, lovely staff, nice inside and we felt very welcome 😊 We would definitely come again.

Booked a table for six Sunday lunch on 22 June, and I had roast beef and all the trimmings. I must say not only was the food presented in a 5 star fashion, the beef was top quality, cooked to perfection and the selection of vegetables was great. The waitress was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and had a very friendly nature. I would definitely go there again.
Darren G — Google review
Lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere and where they allow well behaved dogs inside. My daughter & son in law have eaten here and they said the food was nice. We all enjoyed a glass or two of Guinness during our couple of hours here before heading back to my daughter's house, of which was within walking distance. A nice place to take some time out especially after an afternoon of Crazy Golf in Weston Super Mare. I would definitely be returning to this lovely local pub when I next visit my daughter and her other half 😁

What a lovely friendly pub. this is set just off back street in Weston-super-Mare 5 minutes from centre. Went in here first time and was felt welcomed straight away. Had a lovely afternoon in here and Emma and Steph were brilliant behind the bar. Would recommend and go again

We didn't have food there, but the filled rolls did sound amazing. The service and atmosphere were great though, a lovely pub to have visited as part of the Magnificent Seven Ale Trail! 🍻

Popped in here for a drink on a sunday evening. They had a quiz going on at the time and all tables were filled. Lucky enough there was another room we could sit with drink which also had a pool table. Did want a game but the label with the price was warn and so we didnt know how much it cost and didnt really want to go back into the packed quiz room to ask.

Live music bar
Pub
Nestled in the vibrant Grove Village, The Brit Bar stands out as one of Weston's premier live music venues, offering an inviting and intimate atmosphere for all who visit. This lively spot features performances on its outdoor stage, creating a unique experience that draws both well-known acts and emerging talents across various genres. The bar is a fantastic place to enjoy local music while mingling with an eclectic crowd.
A great find in Weston super Mare. We went to see the open mic Friday night (for bands). Awesome. Great atmosphere. Very eclectic mix of people ... all welcome. Easiest access to the Brit Bar is from West Street. Loads of seating inside and out. Quick and efficient bar staff. Good prices on booze and beer. What more could you ask for ... oh yeah, great music too. The live bands play outside the bar in a porch area. There are picnic bench seats out there, as well as room to stand and watch some bands. Great vibe. We saw HELLENBACH play - awesome metal band playing original songs, and a few other bands playing covers. Great fun. I will definitely be going back. No parking on site, but after 6pm you can find street parking for free - not easy, but you'll find somewhere eventually (or use the multi-storey).
Stu L — Google review
Live band there on a sunday night. Only place we went that did have something on a sunday. Was abit of a rowdy group in there but the door staff kept on top of that well They also serve Lilley's Cider. So I got to try out a new one which is great. Not cold but ice is available. Outdoor seating where band is playing but also indoor seating by the bar.

What a great little pub. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Compact place but quirky. Well worth a visit. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good so was the atmosphere. Enjoyed my visit.

Very good place for a drink with a food selections of Ales as well as Lager and cider including Lilleys. There is a long seating alleyway out of the back with tables. Well worth a visit when you are in Weston and especially if you like your Ales. The staff are very good too here.

Music oriented pub. The pub itself is quite small but there is a fair amount of outside seating. Nice range of real ales. One of the better pubs in WSM.

Tuesday9th September 2025 This pub is a bloody gem for real ale drinkers The music is good and lively, and great bar staff the cliemtelle a younger people who don't just drink hand pumped ales. The pub is a style of the 2020s and it's clean and well looked after When the weather is fine it has a satisfactory outdoor drinking area but when all is said this pub is an essential visit for real ale drinkers when in Western Super ,Mare simply because it has a bloody great choice of hand pulled real ales of interesting breweries

Brilliant bar. Lovely friendly staff and locals. Tried the local Milk Stout as they don't serve Guinness or Murphys or Beamish. Loved the local Mango cider & their jukebox & artwork on the walls. We shall be back. 💚💚 Flossy & Erik & Ella the Doggy

Pub
Bar
Restaurant
Nestled just a short stroll from the sandy shores of Weston-super-Mare, The Criterion is a charming traditional British pub that exudes warmth and character. Renowned for its impressive selection of real ales and fine ciders, this beloved establishment has earned its place in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide on two occasions. With a cozy ambiance enhanced by a crackling open fire during the colder months, it’s an inviting spot to unwind.
If you're not a local, or not following the Cask Marque Ale Trail, you are going to miss this place - and that will be to your disadvantage. The atmosphere in this tucked away local tavern, is the definition of good cheer, geniality and bonhomie. Off the beaten track, it is easily missed and those wishing to experience an atmosphere of genuine cordiality, miss something that the English pub is all about. This is just the place where I would bring American, or any foriegn tourist to see an ideal version of how we do things in Britain - I just wish every local pub was like this and I also wish it was my local. Those with an interest in history, will be interested to know this is one of the oldest buildings in the town. The late Victorian building eventually evolved over the years from a lodging house into a pub. The interior has some regional importance being almost unchanged since the time, the main interest being the impressive old curved counter and the fine mirrored bar-back. Snacks are available and the free cheese and nibbles on the counter on Sundays, is not so often seen now-a-days. And, being on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, the discerning imbiber can be assured of a perfect pint. This reviewers opinion of the Tribute (St.Austell Brewery 4.2%) was in perfect condition. K, the landlady, like many of the patrons, was affable and interested in any new faces. Well worth more than just another visit.

What a great pub, proper old type place. Usual tap beers and a few real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. This is how a pub should be. Enjoyed my visit.

A little gem of a pub located behind the main stretch of the seafront, often missed. Obviously a locals pub but definitely a good thing. The landlord has a keen eye for quality and service which reflects in the beer and service on offer. Very friendly environment and welcoming. They have events and entertainment on offer. I would thoroughly recommend popping in! I'm very glad I have

Fat Head Brewery & Taproom is a charming microbrewery nestled in the vibrant Grove Village area of Weston-super-Mare. This inviting spot not only brews its own unique beers but also showcases an impressive selection of locally crafted beverages, including spirits and non-alcoholic aperitifs from The Drinks Kitchen, as well as refreshing ciders. Visitors can indulge in delightful beer flights that highlight the brewery's offerings.
This was a lovely brewery for drinking, situated in a compact building with the brewing equipment out there to be seen to customers! The lightbulbs with curves between them and signs like Nobody Gets Out Sober create a quirky vibe, staff were welcoming and talkative too. I really liked how the beverages are listed in black and white lettering then their coasters are shown at the side, counter is presentable too even for sitting at! I tried one of the ciders which was as fresh as you would expect down south in Weston, area is very clean throughout.

Nice little taphouse with a good selection of ales. There were a couple of stout offerings the nitro stout was favourite for me. The food offering was great for a snack. The staff were friendly and helpful. Seating was limited and the window stools were less than ideal. All in all a nice little snug.

Landing Light is a family and dog-friendly pub in Weston-super-Mare, offering traditional British dishes, beer, and wine. The pub welcomes dogs inside the bar or the garden and provides a water station for them. Known for its rotisserie chicken, it's a great spot to enjoy a meal with your furry friend. Visitors can expect delicious food, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere.
Fantastic staff so friendly and pleasant. We stayed nearby 3 nights and ate there every night. Kennyah and Paul looked after us very well. The food was plentiful and cooked superbly. Had mixed grill and that was enough for me. Nice place , good decor, all the staff were exceptional. We will be back next time we're down that way.

Nice pub, great service, Didn't wait long for food to arrive. We have been here a few times. Only gripe is the mixed grill has gone up in price and they have taken the Lamb chops off the mixed grill also only half a mushroom. I must say it's very tasty and well cooked. Price of a pint of Guinness £6.25 .. bit steep luckily we had a 40% discount code. .. Overall we were very happy 😁

I wanted to share my admiration for the way today's situation was handled at your establishment. With my background in hospitality and my family's ongoing involvement in management, I was thoroughly impressed by the manager's professionalism. It's well-known that booking a table on a Sunday is ideal, so despite living just two minutes away, I made a reservation for myself and my daughter. Upon our arrival, we were promptly and warmly greeted, with the manager's delightful sense of humour making my daughter feel like 'the boss'. We were informed of our table number, given menus, and guided on how to order at the bar area. After ordering drinks, we enjoyed a pleasant chat. The food, when it arrived, was generously portioned, and with my daughter's help, we managed to finish it all except for the parsnips (I can never get used to them). Midway through our meal, a lady entered the building without waiting by the clearly marked 'please wait to be seated' sign and proceeded to the bar area. Her partner followed, but the manager politely inquired if they had a booking. Unexpectedly, the lady demanded a seat with a high back, and when the manager explained that the only available seats were the ones she could see, she accused him of discriminating against disabled people. The situation escalated quickly when the lady's partner became very aggressive, swearing and threatening to punch the manager. Despite this, the manager remained calm and politely asked him to leave, as the gentleman was causing a scene in front of a restaurant full of families with children. Eventually, the situation was de-escalated, although the couple threatened to leave a bad review, citing disability discrimination. From the manager's perspective, and having experienced similar situations myself, I applaud the entire team for their exemplary handling of this incident. My daughter wisely advised me to stay seated and not get involved, knowing I was ready to support your colleagues. You are amazing, and don't ever let anyone make you feel otherwise. Keep up the great work, as I know how challenging it can be. Lots of love and support. Michelle xx

Great experience. Staff were lovely from start yo finish. There was a 40 minute wait for food but im sure it came sooner. Food was excellent. Can't fault the price and then 40% off the mains. Amazing value before the discount. Staff checked back on food before we had finished unlike most places that as when they clear. Plates were cleared within minutes of finishing food. The pub surroundings are lovely. Tho the outside lamps were not working when we left so the carpark was a little dark. The pub Interior was very inviting and toilet facilities were very clean and well stocked. Overall a lovely place to eat. Will definitely return and recommend

Went for lunch with my mum. We were seated straight away, the place was spotless and the ambience was lovely. We ordered drinks and looked at the menu. Absolutely spoilt for choice. We had starters mum had prawn cocktail and I had garlic and cheese mushrooms. Both were fresh and tasty. For mains we had a lamb combo, it was piping hot and delicious. We waited a bit to order pudding. It was a chocolate dome melt, soooo delicious and indulgent (extremely naughty) but so tasty. Our bill came to just under £80 but I have a taste card so we paid just under £60. It was a lovely place with friendly helpful staff, we plan to return. Thank you ❤️

Booked a table here with my family for Sunday Lunch. Shown in to table and introduced to our host, Shannon, who was extremely friendly and helpful. She ran through all the options and we ordered the Roast trio for the 4 adults and a kids meal. The food came out quickly and was well prepared. As the staff brought the food out I was the lucky winner of the super roast dinner, which was amazing. A huge Yorkshire pudding with the roast and veg served inside. This just added to an already great experience. Special shout out to the staff especially Shannon who looked after us all afternoon. Will definitely return!

Initial service was friendly and polite. Unfortunately a few choices were not available. However we weren’t told when seated. Starter of sharer baked Camembert was pleasant. 1st choice of Seabass wasn’t available 2nd choice chicken flatbread wasn’t either so chose fish & chips and sausage and mash for mains. Fish & chips was again pleasant. The same can not be said for the sausage and mash, the gravy was overwhelmingly sweet. Completely over powered any other flavour, unable to eat more than half a sausage. When waitresses came to clear, she asked if everything was alright. Explained it was inedible due to the level of sweetness, she apologised more out of not knowing what else to say or offer any other response. She then asked if we would like a dessert to which we declined. You just want the bill then? A little taken a back I said yes. It arrived with no apology or removal of the inedible food. Very poor response and customer service. Will not be returning nor will I be recommending it.

Visited lunchtime on Sunday 3rd Aug 2025 for carvery. Tried to book a few other venue's prior, without success, but booked here on a recommendation. Superb! Lovely food, great portions, decent price, nice ambience, great service 🙂

The Woolpack Inn is a charming family-run pub that offers a delightful dining experience. The menu features generous portions of homemade food, wood-fired pizzas, and authentic Greek cuisine. With its spacious outdoor area and newly added firepit, it's a popular spot for enjoying drinks in the sunshine. Additionally, visitors can explore the on-site farm shop and deli for quality groceries. The friendly staff provide excellent service, making it an inviting destination for families and even accommodating to mums with young babies.
Attended a funeral (booked at short notice). Had the private section, with a bar. Plenty of food served, both hot and cold. Selection was really lovely. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only downfall I'd the car park is just a bit too small. However, due to its location there was ample street parking without causing any nuisance to the locals. Great access to the main roads and motorway.

Very nice space! Came here for a lunch and it was very quiet and cozy. Love the new decor after they renovated everything, it makes the space a lot nicer and relaxing to be in. Would think it's very nice for a little family outing too, given the outdoor seating and fire pits out the back. Food was ok, nothing special or amazing but filling and good pricing for basically standard pub fare. Would definitely like to come back and try a Sunday roast here.

Our first visit to the Woolpack , definitely won't be our last . The food , service and atmosphere were amazing. First time in ages I've had an edible meal 😊 . The rest of our party equally enjoyed their meals. We came out to celebrate our granddaughters birthday, it didn't disappoint. I even asked our server to compliment the kitchen staff ( unheard of from me ) . Highly recommend, will be back to try the Sunday roast. Keep up the good work lovelies 🙌🙌🙌

Nice dog-friendly pub with plenty of seating outside. The space is tidy and pretty. We ate lunch here and ordered the Greek salad with chicken and the signature Woolpack burger. I was disappointed that they didn't have ingredients to make the traditional ploughman's but it was nice fresh food.

We went for lunch and the staff were very friendly and attentative. Lunch menu options would all around £10, with the wider menu available and it was great

Although we have had a few bad experiences in the past, we decided that, after several years, it was time to give The Woolpack another try. Very glad we did! It was quite quiet when we visited, midweek late lunchtime, hence the slightly lower mark for atmosphere. Service was generally very good and the food was delicious. Nice to have a choice of menu which was somewhat different to the usual chain outlets. Not overpriced for what we had. We will certainly be back.

Mixed. The prices were surprisingly good. Nearly everyone at the table said the food was 'ok'. Not great, not bad, just 'ok', when you're paying 'ok' prices, I guess you should accept 'ok' food? The issues were noise and heat. I think there was a Hen party behind us and boy were they loud. Too much colourful language for our tastes. I had a 9yr old and a 3yr old and they shouldn't have to listen to expletives every other second. Lastly, the heat, my god, every diner was complaining about how hot it was in there. It was crazy. In the smoking/vaping area most people just popped out to escape the heat. It was crazy stuffy. I'm sure you could set it to a nice 18/19 degrees? Overall, everything was ok but my god and would visit again but my God, please turn the heating down, literally everyone was complaining.

This is a classic old British pub with a modern flare. If you like your food, you will not be disappointed by the portion sizes. They are BIG. Staff here are friendly and on the right side of funny. It helps to create a pleasant atmosphere and they should be proud of this. There is one woman in particular that brings the atmosphere. She has her children working there also, and she is a delight. It's important to recognise such service. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a proper local with hearty food and an even heartier personality.

The Captains Cabin Bar & Restaurant is a friendly freehouse located by the seafront in Weston-super-Mare. It offers delicious seafood and typical pub fare, welcoming both children and dogs inside. The recent interior spruce-up has enhanced its cozy atmosphere, especially during winter with a log fire. In summer, the outdoor terrace provides stunning views over the waterfront and hosts live music events. Under new ownership, the establishment promises great things with an improved front and side entrance.
Just popped in on a sat afternoon i may. Was lovely. Very friendly and dog friendly in side and out plus have a lovely terrace over looking the sea with a bar

This was our first visit to Captains Cabin in a very long time, and we left the venue at the end of the evening agreeing we would definitely be back again soon. For anyone who has never been to the venue, from the outside you may think it is fairly small, but in true Tardis fashion once you walk through the main door the venue continuously opens up to bigger and bigger areas. On arrival you walk into a really nice-looking bar area with a pool table, with plenty of seats. The venue has a wide selection of beers, ales, wines and spirits and we were welcomed by a friendly lady behind the bar. After purchasing our drinks, we walked through the restaurant area before walking downstairs into an outside sun terrace. The sun terrace was big and has an amazing view across to Wales, the North Devon coast, Weston, and its surrounding areas. On an evening, the sunsets really are amazing and seeing is believing. There is also a well-stocked bar in the sun terrace so you can buy your drinks from here as well. After a drink we then decided it was time to proceed to the restaurant which was our main purpose for our visit. We were welcomed by a friendly gentleman who went through the menu with us. We decided to have Panko Whitebait and a Scotch Egg for our starters, both were massive portions and tasted perfectly. For our mains we had a Cider battered cod, pressed peas, curry sauce and chips and a Peri-Peri Chicken with salad and chips, again both portions were massive, and both dishes were perfect. Sadly, as all the portions were so large we didn’t have room for one of the tasty desserts on the menu. We returned to the bar area where we got chatting with both staff and a were made to feel really welcome. We would both highly recommend a visit to Captains Cabin, if not for the amazing food, for the amazing views from the outside sun terrace instead.

Tried this place because of google review. Basic food. View is nice. The kitchen service is okay but quite difficult to catch their attention. The bar man seems to be snobbish with tourist, as we can see he’s very chatty and helpful with the locals. Food looks nice, the pork is drowned in soysauce. Btw, difficult to talk to each other as they have a band.

Found this place by accident while walking to see the old pier at Biernbeck. What a wonderful spot ! We sat at the outside bar bar looking over Weston beach and the Severn. Ordered food wife had sea bass friend had fish and chips and I was going to have lasagne but ran out. Got to get in early for that one. Anyway second option captain's burger 🍔 but that really did not disappoint huge hand made beef patty proper thick bacon onion perfectly cooked chips. Got to say maybe one of the best burgers I've had. Sea bass wife said was amazing cooked to perfection. Only thing she did mention it comes on a bed of potatoes too many for her maybe bit more veg. But still amazing. Fish and chips also amazing. Good selection or beers and wines. Staff super friendly sorry didn't get bar person's name. Had a really nice chilled couple of hours here thanks all 😁👍

Had an amazing time here, food was incredible and Shanky's Whip behind the bar. Which, unlike the other places in Weston that serve Shanky's they have made a little cocktail menu using it. The Shanky's espresso martini is to die for! And the Irish Mule was really good too. We had several of all 3 options Food was too good to stop and snap a photo of, but highly recommend the pork belly starter and the brisket lasagne. The garlic bread is bizarrely fantastic as well, not sure what they do to it to make it that good!

Wow wow wow. I've driven past this place a million times and never really thought of going in! Now I have I will definitely be back! Service was good, prices were reasonable and food was excellent. There's a great sun terrace at the back with amazing views. Lots of steps inside so not very wheelchair accessible inside, steep ish slope to the sun terrace, but accessible with a bit of rearranging. Definitely a place worth visiting, and I will definitely be returning!

Located in Weston super Mare, the Duke of Oxford is a popular bar and grill that welcomes people and their furry friends inside. There's a huge menu of home cooked dishes and seasonal specials, as well as a stonking selection of beer and wine. If you're lucky, someone might be playing the piano, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. The facility is wheelchair accessible and there's even highchair availability!
This was a superb pub for drinking, with a grand feel that incorporates feeling of an older pub in its design! The pillars and large lights help do this, writing engraved on the walls is entertaining in itself. The counter is neatly presented with a variety of ciders of course for Somerset and I enjoyed a Mango Cider, sitting comfortable at a round table!

What a lovely, "proper" pub with comfy nooks, beams, and a traditional feel. We didn't want a wide open, all the same level, chain-type, generic venue. We wanted to eat somewhere that felt special and unique, and this did. The food was excellent: generous portions and well-cooked. All the staff were really friendly and our waitress was so helpful. We came for a special meal with our adult family members and it was perfect. We spent quite a lot, but that included a significant amount of alcohol too! 😂
Jane G — Google review
As a frequent visitor to WsM, we have decided that the Duke of Oxford is now our favourite pub and so, our regular :-) Not to say that we wont continue to try out other pubs around the town. There are a few comments on here about difficulties getting food - especially on Sundays. So here is the number one tip....book a table in advance, and the earlier the better. Yes, they do run out of the Sunday Roast - if you haven't booked. I don't know of any decent quality places that you can just walk into and expect a Sunday lunch tbh. Possibly the only exception being a Toby Carvery - who don't let you book - so that one is pot luck anyway. I presume that they cook enough meats for the Sunday bookings to avoid waste. The Sunday lunches are popular. We booked for 12:30 and our meal arrived within 5-10 minutes. Piping hot. A super plate of roasted vegetables - clearly seasonal - including potatoes, celeriac, swede and a side dish of greens and carrots and a delicious piece of pork draft. Not sure why my partners meat was almost twice the size of mine mind! There is an offer on for a desert with a standard 'roast'. I had my desert to take out as I was full. Apart from Sunday Roasts, the evenings and daytime atmospheres are very good with a decent range of beers on draught, in very interesting surroundings. Not the cheapest, but good quality, a nice welcome and customer service as well, all adds to a pleasant time to be had.

Nestled in the charming village of Uphill, The Ship Inn stands as Weston-super-Mare's oldest pub and a beloved local gem. This dog-friendly establishment welcomes furry friends with open arms, offering complimentary biscuits and water bowls while their humans indulge in generous portions of hearty pub classics. After a refreshing stroll along the nearby sandy beaches, visitors can unwind with a hot coffee or enjoy a pint in the inviting atmosphere.
I had the pleasure of being the official wedding photographer at The Ship Inn, and I can't recommend this venue highly enough! The large garden, complete with a beautifully decorated marquee, provided the perfect backdrop for stunning wedding photos. Every detail of the venue exudes charm, making it an ideal choice for couples seeking a picturesque location for their big day. The staff were absolutely amazing—friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making the day special. Nothing was too much effort for them, and their seamless service made the event stress-free for everyone involved. The food was exceptional, with every dish prepared to perfection and presented beautifully. Guests couldn't stop raving about the quality and flavor. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines a stunning setting, outstanding service, and excellent food, The Ship Inn should be at the top of your list. A huge thank you to the entire team for making the day so memorable! Ian Phillips Photography

Spring may be teasing us that it’s on its way, but an independently owned pub with as much going for it as The Ship Inn in Uphill will always have its place in the community 🍻🍽️🔥 We had: 🩶 Mac n Cheese Bites 🩶 Chicken in a cream and chorizo sauce 🩶 Fish & Chips 🩶 Burger & Chips 🩶 Lasagne 🩶 Kids Nuggets, Beans & Potato Faces 🩶 Lemon Meringue Pie 🩶 Chocolate Fudge Cake Aka, a feast for the five of us! The chips were those slightly curved ones (hard to explain, zoom in!) that we as a family have a thing for, so they were an immediate hit. It can be a worry when you see a big menu but each of us enjoyed what we ordered - nobody had a dud! It was good honest pub grub done well, comfort food to get rid of our never ending colds 🤧 Prices are reasonable (e.g. Cod & Chips £14.95, kids meals from £5.25 for a main) but if you’re keen for an offer, there’s a and a brilliant value mid week lunch deal. It runs Monday to Friday from 12pm to 2.30pm with a range of dishes for £8, including my favourite, scampi 😋 They also have seasonal specials (the spring menu featuring treats such as ox cheeks with creamy leek mash) and this week they’re taking part in British Pie week with a different flavour on offer each day 🥧 Drinks wise it’s a traditional venue with all the usuals, but I was also impressed with the alcohol free selection. Perhaps something to do with the several team members going sober in Feb, raising over £500 for Ovarian Cancer in the process? 🙌🏻 The Old Mout 0% Berries and Cherries I had was very refreshing! There’s a small car park, a beer garden, dogs are welcome, you’ll also find a pool table, darts and skittles plus live music and quizzes too. A true all-rounder! (Review copied from Instagram)

This pub was at the end of my walk, from Berrow to Uphill. Lovely clean pub. Friendly staff. A nice pint.

Still wobbling on sea legs after a perishing overnight sail to anchor on the tide in the nearby creek . . . decided to seek sustenance and the Ship was still serving. What better to take revenge on the sea than to eat of its children? Beer battered cod and the usual accompaniments. At a 'normal' sort of price a normal experience would do . . . but, no. This was exemplary, perfect in every way, crisp batter sealing the fish to steam within, succulent fish (hard with cod 'cos it's on the bland side), chips crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, peas just so and, surprise, a freshly prepared crunchy and crisp salad to help it all down! Two pints each of a well kept real ale and we were set for the night!

While in Weston for a week with family and dogs, we were on the look out for dog friendly places to eat locally. We have 3 Rommie rescues (between 2 families) and 2 of them are still recovering from awful experiences in Romania, so when we book places, we hope to get seating that allows us to give them security where they feel safe and will therefore be less reactive to passers by or other dogs. Well when we arrived having asked for a table in a corner, we were blown away by the way the staff had reserved a really great table, away from the hustle and bustle of the bar, allowing our pooches to have a really chilled time. Service was friendly, swift, efficient and on point. We had a vegan in the party and the menu catered for them very well too. The food arrived very quickly, piping hot, was beautifully cooked and tasted lovely. Overall, this was an absolute gem of a find. If we're in the area again, we will definitely revisit this wonderful pub.

I was most dismayed at the service at the Ship. We had our main meal and would have liked a sweet, but after the plates were cleared away and we asked about ordering a sweet, we waited for the staff to return to take our order. Eventually we gave up waiting. I went to the bar, paid the bill and left. I don't think we could blame the young lady behind the bar as she was trying to serve a number of people who had come from a funeral and serve on the tables. Just bad management. We went to celebrate one of the parties 80th birthday which turned out to be very disappointing. Not a place to be recommended.

Called in after a meal at the Japanese Ikanji restaurant a few doors down, so didn't try the food here, though the reviews do look good. The atmosphere, for a Friday night, seemed a bit quiet. Not a large range of beers for a 'tap' house (not sure if that even means anything anymore), but nicely served. Not as big inside as it looks from the outside. Toilets upstairs. The furniture is a clearly sourced to provide a comfortable, perhaps themed environment. Some nice pieces. Lots of lighting, generally made from pieces of pipework. So I couldn't quite get the theme...partly industrial, partly shabby, partly basic wood. All in all pleasant enough, and I will be back to try the food :-)

If you haven’t been to this place you have to! Very good service, large portions and the food is incredible. I have found my favourite pub. Who would have thought it was so close to home. I just had the Chef’s Special 8 hour braised beef rib and I hope they will be moved to the main menu and be always available. In the off chance there is still space for dessert, they are amazing!

We decided to try this pub for an evening meal while on holiday in the area after reading good reviews. The choice of food, which included a tantalising Specials Board, was amazing and reasonably priced. I had the home made Turkey Stroganoff which was delicious and full of chunky turkey. The warm chocolate fudge cake for dessert was the best I'd had anywhere. We went back the next day for lunch and I had the Chalfont Chicken which again was fantastic. It is best to book as it understandably gets busy. The pub has a designated dog friendly area. All the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. The Bear Inn is a no-nonsense hotel with unpretentious rooms and a pub featuring two terraces and free Wi-Fi. Located just a two-minute walk from the seafront, it offers cozy traditional pub vibes where guests can bring their dogs inside and even stay in the guest rooms. The pub serves a variety of beer styles, has a skittle alley, and a function room at the back.
We booked a twin. It was very spacious though it didn't have a wardrobe but it had a set of drawers. Only thing that was missing was a mirror and a shelf in the bathroom and had to request extra towels on arrival as there was only one set in the room. The owners were lovely an accommodating and the pooch loved them considering he is nervous around males, he really took a shining to those that worked there. Ideal location for the beach and not too far from the shops, had no noise from the bar downstairs. Will be definitely staying again!

Honestly appalled! Me and my friend, who are 40 years of ages walked into this pub completely sober and got refused access for “being too drunk” . Not only that the bar staff started swearing at us saying absurd language calling us words i don’t even want to repeat. Absolutely disgusting behaviour! would not recommend. Would give a 0 if possible.

Shocking, booked 3 times, cancelled 3 times, would not recommend, if you’re in Weston better to stay at spoons, better staff and facilities. Just wanted a weekend away with some friends and they have ruined it.
Drew H — Google review
Great location only a stones throw away from the main beach and at a great price. However, you do get what you pay for. It was a basic rather tatty looking room, not very clean, un-hoovered, mould all round the bath edges, taps that worked one minute then not a drop of water the next. Thin poor fitting curtains with a street light right outside the window so the room was like daylight all night (Room 16). Other rooms may be better?? For a budget room but in a great location it's ideal just don't necessarily expect a modern clean functional room. The pub below looked great, staff were very pleasant, noise from it was not a problem, the pub was quiet at a reasonable time and the side door to access the accommodation without having to go through the pub was a great idea.

The kitchen door banged every time someone walked through it which became very irritating. The overall decor is rather tired and has the token filthy carpets which seems to be common in hungry horse.

Stopped here on the 17th May 2025 for a drink and some food. Was not too busy at the time so plenty of availabile parking. Were were asked upon arrival, greeted by a very friendly member of staff and was asked if we had booked which we had not, however was invited to find an unreserved table and order, brilliant 😀. All seems clean and tidy however some areas looked a bit tired. Gents WC's were ok but my wife said the ladies was awful. Food was ok to be fair and good size portions!! We would definitely dine here again. Using the app to order was a doddle.

Visited on Good Friday in the evening. Had booked a table. Was asked to order using the app if possible which we did but it meant that interaction with any staff was minimal. Haven’t been to a Hungry Horse for years but from memory, was looking forward to a good amount of food at a reasonable price. Unsure what happened to my sad bacon and cheese burger. As pictured, it was very sad. One teeny bacon slice and no sauce whatsoever. Also barely a handful of fries. My husband had the mini mixed grill which he enjoyed though. Sports on the tv was quite loud. Probably wouldn’t visit again because there are other pubs closer by to us that we’ve tried and tested. Bit of a shame.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Weston, Summerhouse is a spacious and family-friendly pub that boasts an extensive menu featuring mouthwatering burgers, juicy steaks, and hearty sandwiches. This inviting venue not only serves up delicious real ales but also hosts lively quiz nights throughout the week, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. On Mondays, you can test your trivia skills at their engaging pub quiz, while Tuesdays bring another chance to shine at the Coachhouse's quiz night.
Fancied a change from our usual haunt and suggested the Summerhouse. Booked a table online. Took advantage of voucher available. Found table easily as clearly labelled. Ordered through QR code on table. Drink and food delivered promptly. Great service throughout. Excellent food and brilliant staff.

Nice place usually - bar staff great. Steak took an hour and a half and was well done, not medium rare as ordered. No onion rings either as the menu promises. Had to scran as needed to catch a train but jaws aching from the steak still.
Josh S — Google review
Lunch deal-not a deal at all. £8.50 per head for a smaller than child's portion. Egg overcooked and still served with the smallest loin of bacon/gammon I've ever seen. Could count the chips on the plate. Not a deal for the customer...a cut price deal for the profit making pub. Crap quality and tiny portions for the price. We could get 2 for £12/13 in most pubs and have a much better portion size.
Donna H — Google review
Just been for a meal before catching the train to Bristol, and really disappointed with the food. Ordered the Nachos for starter, and paid £4 extra for pulled pork and got a SPOONFUL of pulled pork !!! Asked for some more and was told that it comes in ‘ portions ‘ which i apparently had to accept !!!! Then the waitress bought out a tiny bowl of extra pulled pork and said this should have been on it in the first place !!! Then the main course, we noticed the curry was sat under the heat lamp for a good 10 mins, and mine and my husbands steak was supposed to sirloin steak, and it was a vile piece of chewy meat. We will NEVER return to this restaurant and now understand why it was so empty !!!

Took my mum out for some lunch and it was lovely. Food was delicious and the gentleman, Jamie I believe, serving us was so friendly!

We had a lovely Sunday roast here on 26th Oct 2025. The staff were very friendly, the roast beef was great, and the jam sponge pudding was delightful. Karen and Beth made us very welcome.

A great, friendly pub that immediately makes you feel like it is your local pub, no matter how rarely you get to visit. Great food and great staff. Our favourite eatery whenever we are in Weston Super Mare

I have been coming here for many years. The food and service is always great. Throughout these years I have been served by Karen or Beth. They are excellent hosts, always happy to ensure everything is just right. On the very odd occasion the food hasn't been to the normal high standard it has always been replaced with sincere apologies.

"The Dolphin" is a charming village pub located near the beach, making it a convenient stop for locals and visitors alike. Under new management, the pub offers excellent meals and a variety of drinks, including Stella. The friendly staff creates a welcoming atmosphere for all guests, including dogs, with indoor and outdoor seating available. With events like quiz nights and local gatherings, this pub provides an opportunity to mingle with both locals and tourists.
Love the Dolphin following its recent refurbishment. The staff were so lovely, and the food was of good quality for the price. My only request would be background music playing to create a better ambience.

Popped in for a quick drink. Staff very friendly and met a few of the locals who were chatty. Dog friendly inside nd out and they serve food most days (which we will definitely revisit to try) Seating indoors and out the back. Some free parking spaces, customer toilets, children welcome and disabled access. Prices much the same as other pubs. Located in a small village near the beach and local walks so great place for a quick stop off if in area. The only thing it is lacking is, it looks a bit tired and tatty. Could do with brightening up inside a bit and new garden furniture as its looking a bit rotten. Hopefully the owners will invest in this pub to keep it the hub of the village.

Absolutely love the fact we have a decent pub with amazing food in walking distance. This has changed date nights amd family get togethers for the better. Awesome service staff are friendly and even remember our wine order. Atmosphere is relaxed and ia a really enjoyable place to be. Thank you for bringing such a gem to the area

Popped in for a drink and a nosey .wow what a lovely surprise the place looks absolutely fantastic and the garden area too. Would have stayed and had some food but they were fully booked . Will definitely come again when we are in the area .Be nice if the outside was given a new leash of life but everything tales time . Good Luck ! Regards Mary & Gerald Dartmouth.

Drinks were expensive, food excellent. Quite noisy as the low ceilings appear to make sound echo. I think it is a work in progress and doesn't quite meet the prices yet

Restaurant
The Queens Arms, located in Bleadon on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, is a charming 16th-century country pub that exudes character with its open fires and beamed ceilings. As part of the Butcombe Brewery chain, it's a stop on the Butcombe trail, offering great beers and real ales along with delicious, locally-sourced pub favorites.
Thought we'd call in for a light lunch. Opted for sandwiches. We had the ham, cheese and tomato. Great sandwiches. Doorsteps. Price included a portion of skinny fries, salad and a delicious homemade coleslaw. In essence it was more a meal than just a good old sandwich. Thoroughly enjoyed it and very filling. Service was very good and attentive.

Popped in for lunch today with my wife and elderly father, plus two King Charles cavaliers. Made us feel very welcome, and the food was really good. I can heartily recommend the risotto with hake. Delicious. We will definitely be returning with other family members. A great find.

Nice little pub tucked away in a quiet village setting. Some seating outside, food was fabulous and well worth the money. Staff are lovely friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend

Love love this pub.... its got the most cozy local pub in the village feel about it. Everyone is incredibly friendly. The owner and bar staff are all very attentive and provide a fabulous service. The food is lovely I've tried most of the menu and have not been disappointed. Definitely try the roast dinner. Portion sizes are generous and you get value for money.

What a hidden Gem! 💎 We went here through recommendation and was not disappointed. Food was made and presented very well and sold at a reasonable price. The lady working today was very kind and welcoming which made the visit even better. I highly recommend the Posh Fish Finger Sandwich 🥪 Will definitely be back!

Bar
"The Vaults" is a town center venue with a wine bar ambiance that also caters to real ale enthusiasts with a selection of creatively named brews from the local Pinkers Craft Brewery. The place can get quite busy, especially during special occasions like New Year's Eve, but it offers good customer service and live jazz music. While drinks may be pricier compared to out-of-town establishments, the experience of enjoying wines and beers along with delectable cheesecake makes it worth visiting.
We go to Vaults most weekends- Attentive friendly staff - great atmosphere - has entertainment - is cleanest bar in Weston 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Jackie L — Google review
Arguably Weston's most up-market nighttime option with an excellent selection behind the bar. Good food during the day too. I've been to a couple of events and special occasions here where it felt that they needed more overall thought to what went where and what would happen when. They need an event management-experienced person on staff

Nestled in the heart of Weston-super-Mare, The George and Dragon Pub stands out as a quintessential local watering hole. This welcoming establishment is not just for adults; families—both two-legged and four—will find themselves at home here. Amazing, we walked in here as strangers whilst on a 2 night visit to WSM, Andy and his regulars made us so welcome, we had a couple of drinks with them and such a laugh, back the next day we went and brilliant again, the owner (Andy, he might work 1 day!) staff and everyone else are unbelievable, good memories thanks Chris and Vic

Large place inside with pool table and dartboard. Typical local pub with the usual tap beers and one real ale available. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was good. Enjoyable visit.

Only been here once but it is a big place with pool tables & a skittle ally, friendly lady behind the bar & they do bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale.I shall visit again next time I am in Weston-super-Mare.
Paul G — Google review
Regular customer for the last 2 years now, usually brilliant customer service by the owner and other staff apart one, older lady with white hair made us feel very intimidated and made me feel embarrassed in front of everyone on the bar and made me feel unwelcome in front of other customers, very unpleasant. But hey ho lets not ruin our time here because of one staff member

Gillmore G — Google review
Fabulous evening, a lovely outdoor setting and indoor cosiness. The weather definitely worked in our favour as the 60th birthday crowd spread both indoors and outdoors mingling with other visitors. This is a local Worle pub with lots of regular clientèle. I believe it is more of a drinking than eating pub. However, I stand corrected if that's not the case! The landlords are really friendly and hospitable, and the staff are great at coping under pressure. They can accommodate live music both indoors and outdoors and regularly hold events to please the crowds
