Architectural Buildings
Gloucester Cathedral, an 11th-century building, is a significant historical site with remarkable architecture and the tomb of King Edward II. It showcases various periods of medieval church architecture, particularly Romanesque and Perpendicular styles. The cathedral offers tours and features a coffee shop and gift shop. While most areas are wheelchair accessible with the aid of wheelchair lifts, some sections have narrow entrances.
An impressive building. It's amazing what was built back then with simple means. Compared to today, we can't do anything without electricity, steel, and glass. I highly recommend a visit. The staff are friendly, and the £5 donation is perfectly acceptable. The restrooms could be a bit cleaner, though.

This must be one of the most beautiful Cathedrals that I have visited. You can feel the history as you walk round. There are a number of wonderful chapels throughout. The vaulted ceiling is stunning as well as the stained glass windows. I would recommend going up to the whispering gallery. The views down into the Cathedral really worth it and tovaee the magnificent organ up close.
Karl D — Google review
We really enjoyed visiting Gloucester Cathedral. The construction began in 1089 the Nave was completed in 1130.Over the centuries mor parts were added with different architectures styles. A magnificent building and it's said to be one of the finest ecclesiastical building in the UK.We really enjoyed ambling around the ethereal cloisters(a special treat for Harry Potter fans) and the beautiful stained glass windows
Vera R — Google review
Visiting Gloucester Cathedral was a truly wonderful experience. The architecture is absolutely mind-blowing — it’s incredible to imagine how such a magnificent structure was built during that time period. The cathedral is vast, with many areas to explore, each more impressive than the last. One of the highlights was seeing the filming locations for the Harry Potter movies, which added a special touch to the visit. Overall, it’s a beautiful and historic place that’s definitely worth seeing.
ROBIN J — Google review
What a magnificent building! I can't emphasis how must have this cathedral is. Search for top 10 facts about it, learn about its history and enjoy visiting. If you are a history lover, you need at least three hours (maybe five for a best visit) to completely appreciate the whole visiting experience. Would highly recommend donating as it costs a lot to maintain this fascinating building.
Peyman F — Google review
Poppy Fields by Luxmuralis - Premium Experience Great experience. A premium ticket allowed us fast track entry (it was raining, so this was much appreciated) & a faster entry to the 1st experience. It also allowed access to an upstairs section which had good views, plus a cheeky glass of sparkling wine. The cathedral looked lovely lite up. Great experience overall & a good reminder of the sacrifices made during war & that peace is better than war.
Lesley G — Google review
Gloucester Cathedral is breathtaking from the moment you step inside. The soaring ceilings, fan-vaulted cloisters, and magnificent stained glass fill the space with light and history. A perfect mix of art, faith, and architecture.Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gloucester.
Navodi K — Google review
This is a lovely cathedral that combines solid Norman design with some of the earliest examples of graceful Gothic perpendicular architecture, and demonstrates how cathedral design evolved over the centuries. One will be impressed by how the huge, solid pillars in the nave - still tinged red by fires in the 12th Century - contrast with the delicate, magnificent fan vaulting of the cloisters. The cathedral is the burial place of a king, and the intricately carved tomb of Edward II is splendid. Similarly, the Great East Window, which was the largest of its time when installed, glows with medieval glass. Carved stone ball flowers, a 14th Century decoration feature, abound inside and out. Amazing gargoyles, some of them new replacements for older carvings, decorate exterior eaves. Entry to the cathedral is by donation (£5 suggested) and taking a £8 volunteer-led Highlights Tour is recommended (our guide Mags was excellent). Since Gloucester Cathedral was used as a film location in three Harry Potter movies, it was fun to learn where scenes had been filmed, see the temporary fixes that had to be done to camouflage such things as light switches, and to hear how those familiar with the cathedral were amused with film studio continuity having actors enter one door and then appear on the other side in some completely different location. If driving to Gloucester Cathedral, one will find many pay by phone parking spots on nearby streets. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours for your visit.

Specialty Museums
Immerse yourself in the rich history of Gloucester at the National Waterways Museum Gloucester. Explore exhibitions showcasing British waterway history, featuring narrowboats, barges, tugs, and a replica lock chamber. After strolling through the ancient docks alongside Victorian architecture, continue your historical journey at the museum to learn about the utilization of canals and rivers in Gloucester over the years. Step aboard historic boats or browse through a gallery filled with snapshots of Gloucester's vibrant waterside heritage.
A great place to visit, suitable for all ages, includes a cafe and kids play area. A spoken tour at the beginning by Chris was as great introduction to the waterways, thank you. Dog friendly. Showcase of the bodicea and its great history with Dunkirk. Worth a visit.
Tracy L — Google review
Excellent value but only for repeat visits. Great Café. Everything is well preserved and presented though there’s no sense of continuity or narrative to everything as a whole. I also found the layout sightly confusing and, on my first visit, didn’t realise there was an upstairs. The many exhibits keep the attention of adults whereas the hands on stuff is very much for kids. The museum is fairly small so try and visit in half term to avoid school groups. The entrance fee is expensive for a single visit but includes repeat visits for a year. If the visit is a 'one off’ then get your money’s worth by buttonholing a volunteer to explain things. They know a lot that more than is on the display cards. All the staff are a great bunch and willing to help and offer information. The café serves reasonably priced food and drinks. The tea is good and cakes taste homemade (in a good way). If it’s not too sunny or crowded, sit in the area by the big window. There’s a small car park nearby (Southgate Moorings - Gloucester Docks), just off the main road, which fills quickly every day. The Quays shopping centre (5 minutes walk away) has a large multi storey attached to it.
Glevum O — Google review
Fascinating, perfect for an hour or so. Some of the exhibits look a bit tired, but would be great for children. Lovely shop and café. I especially enjoyed the video stories of the men who had worked on the canals. A bit expensive for what it was.
Victoria K — Google review
This was first on my list when visiting Gloucester. Tickets cost £10 and you can spend about an hour here (maybe less) if you'd like to see everything. It's on 2 floors, and details the waterways if Gloucester and the history of it all. Its quite educational if you'd like to learn about ships and the river Severn. But the museum isn't that big so there isn't really a lot to see and look around. There is a café and gift shop on the ground floor. I think £5 would be a fairer price to visit, considering how short I stayed, and I usually immerse myself with all the exhibits, photos and information. I enjoyed the Gloucester museum much more, which is a free museum and has a bit more interesting artefacts and information (though you can probably see all of that in about an hour or so). I did like the outside area where you can turn a device that plays animal sounds, asking you to guess which call it is.
Brim Z — Google review
Great day out and good value even in this time of watching every penny. The Boat trip was wonderful and well informed regarding its history as a Little Ship at Dunkirk. Good place for children and pets. Although anyone with a wheelchair might be an issue getting on board the boat. A new exhibition of the civilian Captain of the boat has just been put on display and the family was visiting the day we attended.
King C — Google review
I first visited soon after it first opened in 1988. I returned today. What a disappointment. Only two floors are now open to the exhibition space. Clearly the place is short of funds. I remembered the barge driving simulator and other tasty treats…. all gone. No worth the adult entrance fee of £10 when there is least one other free museum with better exhibits nearby.

Really nice area. Interesting history in the museum and the docks.

The high-speed track offers an exhilarating adventure for families, featuring different karts reaching speeds of up to 40mph. The team at JDR were amazing - we had a group booking of 12 for a Mini Enduro event and everyone from the front desk to the Marshalls were super helpful and polite. Everything was explained clearly and concisely, and the safety briefing video was brilliant! We had a blast and definitely got our money’s worth! Will definitely be back again soon - thanks guys!

Edward was invited for his 10 year old friends birthday party. They had 2 x 15 sessions of driving and he loved it. They had food afterwards. He didn't like his chicken nuggets. Coffee was quite cheap. Doesn't have disabled access.

I was lucky enough to go to the preview of the mini golf that’s opening next week at JDR. It’s absolutely amazing 9 holes quite tricky courses was really nice to have a challenge but also great for families at the same time, curling, shuffleboard and even a bar!!! Completely lost track of time in there with the atmosphere and the lights can’t wait to go back with A huge group of people the proper launch is Saturday can’t wait !!!!

A hidden gem in the centre of Gloucester. People drive past everyday coming into Gloucester but not many talk about it. It’s an absolutely massive area with karting, laser tag, golf and more. There’s a little cafe serving cheap food and drink. The atmosphere and aesthetic is really cool and gets you in the mood for a race. There’s safety gear and a briefing so you know how to safely race and the track is big enough that you don’t get bored after a few laps. It can be very noisy, so if you’re someone sensitive to noise, definitely grab some earplugs. Really fun experience and will definitely come for a race again!
Ashley — Google review
JDR Karting offers an exhilarating indoor go-karting experience in Gloucester. The well-designed track challenges drivers with tight corners and fast straights. Friendly staff prioritize safety without dampening the fun. While the facility boasts additional activities like axe throwing, some find the pricing steep. Despite occasional complaints about staff attitude, JDR Karting remains a popular choice for thrilling races and group events.
Enoch O — Google review
Went for my sons 9th birthday party, overall everyone enjoyed it, a couple got nervous but the staff were kind and understanding. The marshals on track were assertive but approachable, which is needed in this environment. Laser tag after was fun. Would highly recommend.

We visited Ocean Adventure Golf as a family and had such a great time! The indoor mini golf course was really well designed and fun for all ages and had a really fun atmosphere. Before playing, we grabbed a few drinks and snacks at the Tiki bar, which was a nice bonus – great service and a good selection. After that, we headed onto the course and had an absolute blast. It was a fantastic way to spend time together as a family. Highly recommend for families, groups of friends, or even a fun date idea. We’ll definitely be back!

A great place to visit as an introduction to Gloucester's long and rich history. Staff are helpful and informative. Exhibitions really well thought out. Appeal to children and adults. Maybe a few new exhibitions wouldn't go amiss, but otherwise lovely museum to visit. Shame there is not more space for extra history, but the space you have got is well filled.
Thomas R — Google review
It's a quaint local museum which is well-maintained and contains quite an interesting array of artifacts. There are exhibitions ranging from natural history items (such as dinosaur teeth and claws) found on the landmass of present-day Gloucester, as well as man-made items from various historical periods. Staff were polite here, and the location of the museum is ideal. I saw people of all ages having fun, and the entire environment is very family-friendly.

We love going there. It is small but very well presented and plenty to learn. Wr love the regular events. Perfect activity for a rainy day

Great trip to the museum on Monday. Lots to see on 2 floors, particularly liked the facinating Roman section with reconstructed areas and part of Roman wall. Also interesting were wall pictures of old streets of Gloucester. Has a cafe and toilets. Free admission

We went to the Museum of Gloucester today to see what it was all about. Fantastic experience the lady on the front counter was really nice and told Us where to go. We also noticed they had the Star Wars exhibition on as well. So that was fun. If you a fan of star-wars and history then this museum is great fun.
Joe B — Google review
A lovely local museum. It is free to enter and view all the local history. It is very well curated, taking you from the Jurassic period, when Gloucester was under water, through the Roman and medieval periods up to the modern day city. They also have exhibitions for which there is a £4.95 charge. There was plenty to see for free - though it would be worth paying if you didn't remember life in the 80s too well. There is a self service cafe and a small museum shop.
Judy H — Google review
Fascinating museum full of the history of Gloucester and surrounding areas. From the time of prehistoric times up to modern. If you are able, take a tour or two, underneath the city to the time of the Romans and medieval times. It’s amazing what you walk over every day that predates our times, without even realising. The guide is fabulous, really knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the history and answer questions.

Lovely place for a walk for a scenic walk and beautiful view from top of summit . It was a pleasure seeing Gloucester city from the top and what a lovely weather to enjoy . Kids really had a great time. No doubt reaching top is a little bit tiring but reaching at summit will make all your tiredness a blissful experience 🤗
NABILA M — Google review
Wow... The experience here is like no other. The walk around the hill to the summit which by the way is breathtaking is worth it. The view is best experienced in person. If you are not afraid of heights and you want to get to see the whole town then you should go to the summit. The park itself is well maintained with ample free parking spaces with beautiful spots for BBQS and family and friends hangouts. The kids are not left out with slides and swings. Well-done Gloucester county for this awesome experience PS... To access the car park and toilets ensure you come into the park from the Reservoir road

Alney Island Nature Reserve is a tranquil sanctuary for leisurely strolls, cycling, and birdwatching amidst picturesque grasslands and riverside views. Just a short drive from Gloucester lies the impressive Wallsworth Hall, home to an extensive collection of nature-inspired art featuring works by renowned British painters and illustrators. Visitors can immerse themselves in workshops such as plant pot creation and bird feeder crafting, offering engaging activities for various age groups.
Raw countryside and wetlands right next to city centre. So lucky to have this green space here. Love watching the Severn bore here where the river divides. Though the council are planning 300 more houses on the flood plain. Sounds like a recipe for disaster after 2007 floods. Existing home owners will suffer consequences.
Amanda T — Google review
Great inner-city reserve. I have walked the trail (and it’s many variations) a few times now. My eldest (11) and I are intending to do a nice walk across Alney Island to Over, where we shall reward ourselves with a carvery! My youngest (3) and I regularly walk the shortest circular route (approx. 1 mile). It was a bit under-loved on our last visit, with graffiti on a couple of signs and litter on the last stretch of path. However, the beauty of Alney Island is that it is a nature reserve in the heart of a city. Sadly, whilst not right, these things tend to happen more regularly in cities than in rural areas. There were no cows on our recent travels (Much to my son’s disappointment. Although walkers should anticipate there being so) and we parked at Castle Meads Car Park (although the walk can be accessed from numerous points).
Gabrielle — Google review
I disagree with most comments about this place. It absolutely is NOT a beautiful place. It's an okay walk, it could be beautiful with a little tlc. There are some lovely spots as you walk through this nature reserve but you can't see them because of the overgrowth. There must be thousands of people living in Gloucester who'd be more than happy to volunteer to help maintain this place. Such a waste of a space with great potential and benefit to the local community.
Martin — Google review
Nice bit of countryside in the city, but more interpretation boards would be good, and rubbish bins, unless i missed them. Some footpaths were overgrown. maily with the very invasive water balsam, which if not dealt with, will in no time at all completely take over the whole of the reserve.
Jane G — Google review
Bit more rundown since my last visit. Loads of rubbish everywhere and not a pleasant walk to do on your own. Any place that has more activity at 3am than 12pm, well, it speaks for itself.
Natasha — Google review
I’m sorry but is not a nice place to walk. It’s completely overgrown, homeless people camped up in tents all along the field, graffiti everywhere. It’s just not pleasant, don’t waste your time

Military Museums
The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum is a captivating tribute to the soldiers from Gloucestershire, spanning over 300 years of history. Housed in an early 19th-century Custom House with a colonnaded front, the museum offers a poignant insight into the lives and experiences of these servicemen. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of soldiers by trying on uniforms, exploring First World War trenches, and discovering the challenges faced during various conflicts.
The museum tells the story of a Great British Regiment, that my oldest Brother served in The Gloucestershire Regiment. He served in Northern Ireland in 1978. Sadly 10 years ago My John passed away. I will enjoy Visiting this very special museum. Thank you.

Superb regimental museum covering the long history of the Gloucester Regiments from the 1700s to today's combined Rifles Regiment. So many historic battles and distinguished engagements. Truly inspiring. Good varied displays with information boards, artifacts, medals, pictures and staged scenes. Allow a couple of hours to do it justice. Well worth a visit. 😎👍👍👍👍

Spent a good 90 minutes there today and could have spent another 90 on top, so much fascinating information and displays about all the past wars. Thoroughly enjoyed the displays very informative, gutted I had to leave to be honest. The sacrifices all those men made and it was great to see all there uniforms and medals. Thanks for a pleasant visit. David Thomas

Old custom's house now housing the museum of soldiers of Gloucestershire. Great insight into the history of the Gloucester regiment. With plenty of information including the Napoleon wars and of course the world war 2 with a small exhibit on operation overlord the D day landings. There is a Gift shop and cafe on site.

Loved the museum and so did the kids. Wonderfully laid out and offers something for both the adults as well as the kids. Parking nearby is possible but it's a nightmare. Entry prices are great and really reasonable with £10 for a family with 2 adults and 3 children. Lots to see and there are interactive computer screens available for the kids and the adults. There is a dress up at the end and a gift shop as well so you will have a great time exploring the interesting history of the soldiers if Gloucestershire and their noble and varied history

Great facility to have locally. We attended a beginners lesson for snowboarding here. The lesson was great, very relaxed. Alan- the instructor- was excellent. Very reassuring and patient. The children enjoyed themselves immensely. Great cafe/bar/restaurant area. In which, the coffee was excellent. On a side note. The party doing the "tubing" session seemed to be having a great time, too. Might be worth a try... Absolutely would recommend the place, based on our experience so far. Edit. We can't stop coming back! Great instructors and such a welcoming place. Definitely retaining its prior 5 stars from me!

Amazing value too with included lunch and both tea & coffee available throughout the day. Can't recommend enough and I never post Google reviews, felt like I needed to.

I'm absolutely in-love with this place! I've only recently discovered it, now I can't stop going! Compared to a lot of 'functional' dry ski slopes in the South, this has such a superb atmosphere! Always excellent staff, punters and the bar is always such a great facility for a post-ski beer and burger. It's not my local slope but it sure is my favourite! Skiing instructors are good AND fun which makes a fun activity even better. Highly recommend!

Great for pre season training! Lovely place with friendly staff. They have a small ski shop. Got some boots fitted there. The kids ski lessons usefully for getting the basics so you don't have to waste time on the slopes. The adult evening lessons are great value as you can ski prior to and after the lesson. It worked out to be less than £10 per hour! Would highly recommend.

Took a couple of little ones here for a tubing session. The ski slope has obviously seen better days (I remember when it was first constructed!) but is still perfectly serviceable. The tubes themselves look brand new. The instructor, Callum, was great: calm, helpful and good at managing young people including nervous first timers. The bar area was clean and tidy and not too expensive.

Recommend to join the class to learn how to ski. The instructors, Joe + Harry are extremely nice and patient to teach students how to ski. Very thoughtful and knowledgeable. Appreciate that.

Great place to bring kids or go with family/friends or groups. I went tubing and had great fun at a reasonable price. The half hr session was just £12 for an adult. I would recommend you bring gloves to save you extra money as they are required to do the activity, but I was told you could purchase them for £2 if you forget.
L C — Google review
No thought about access for wheelchair users. My wife called and asked if they were wheelchair accessible and they said they were, but could not provide activities for wheelchair users. So not really accessible at all. We decided to meet with others to take the kids tubing. There was only one disabled parking space and no proper route to the centre from the car park. My wife went to the centre to ask about how I could get in. A young man opened a gate to a very steep and uneven slope that we only just managed because we're strong. We had to move the tubes off the path because it hadn't occurred to him to make room for my chair. The family thought the tubing was OK, but not very exciting. The matting is very aged and tired. I doubt we'll ever come back. I certainly won't. I'm going sit-skiing in Italy next month, pity I can't get any practice in here.

Gloucester Docks is a captivating blend of old and new, characterized by its striking red-brick warehouses that once bustled with activity. The area is home to the National Waterways Museum and Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, offering visitors a journey through time to explore the rich history of this location. Strolling through the docks presents picturesque scenes, from ducks on the water to the towering presence of The Candle sculpture.
Worth a visit. Plenty of places to sit and eat if you wanted. Lovely walking area with plenty of room, especially for prams or wheelchairs, very accessible. Car park at the docks, can be full very quickly, close to the Quays shopping centre. Lots of bars/restaurants/cafes and the watershed and soldiers museum is worth a visit.

We moored in the area for a week or so, and used the water and elsan facilities a couple of times. Very pleasant surroundings, and lots of places to walk and things to see. Many different types of boats to see, both moored and moving. Convenient restaurants and shops, a grocery store, and a bus stop within a short walk from the free moorings. There are also cruises you can book and long-term moorings in the area. It was a nice place to spend some time.

Gloucester Docks, the most inland docks in England. The powers that be did a good 👍 job of renovating the area which now has an eclectic mixture of shops, activities, and eateries. From a branch of 'Spoons to fine dining (sorry, 'Spoons!), the area is capable of feeding the five thousand in a way that the bloke in the bible didn't. We have museums for those who feel the need to be educated. Shops are contained within covered centres thus avoiding the need for umbrellas 🌂 ☂️ when the weather can be described as inclement. There is also an occasional outdoor market which offers, amongst other things, a wide range of munchables from around the world. The old warehouses have been repurposed, one, for instance, houses a collection of purveyors of antiques. The area also is an ideal place to explore, walks along the canal banks to looking at all manner of water craft docked in the area. Well worth a visit for a grand day out.

Gloucester Docks and Quays is a lively, scenic, and family‑friendly destination for weekend shopping and strolling. With its monthly artisan market, seasonal festivals, high‑street bargains, riverside charm, eateries, and historic sites, it’s the kind of place where you can spend couple of hours happily browsing, tasting, and soaking in the atmosphere. Recommended for a fun city‑centre excursion!

I was pleasantly surprised by the rejuvenated Gloucester Docks. The whole area was clean, tidy and well maintained. There was a good selection of pubs. cafés, shops, restaurants, museums, artwork and interesting information panels providing interesting detail on the industrial legacy of the area. I visited midweek in September 2025 and the area had a positive feel to it.

The Warehouse Climbing & Caving Centre is a unique facility housed in a converted warehouse. It features climbing walls suitable for all skill levels, as well as a party room and a spacious café with comfortable seating. The center also offers special holiday activity tickets that allow visitors to experience various activities such as caving, auto-belays, DigiWall, bouldering, and the Kids Zone. Additionally, during the February half term, they are offering discounted prices for their sessions.
My son had a voucher for his birthday & he seems to climb everything else so it was a great opportunity for him to trial this out. He absolutely loved it. Although it appeared to have been oversubscribed for that session they all still got plenty of wall time. A week later they announced they will be closing the end of November to relocate to Bentham / Brockworth - Good luck & hopefully once you've settled into your new location we will give this all another go again! 😁
Neil J — Google review
Our original welcome was a little frosty and we were only allowed on the top floor boulder section - in their fairness, this was a spur of the moment booking. We had good fun for around an hour and then exhausted all that we were able to do. We would’ve loved to have stayed longer and tried some of the other climbs.
David P — Google review
Awesome indoor climbing facility. Definitely fun for everyone. They offer lessons to new people that range in prices. They have walls for beginners and walls for the more advanced. The staff are friendly and helpful. I will definitely be going more often.

My first visit to the warehouse and I'm sure it wont be the last. Staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive. The sign up process isnt too lengthy and the actual climbing and bouldering activities are great fun. Would recommend it to anyone who wanted to give it a try!

We went here on a Saturday morning for bouldering and it was amazing! We spent two hours in the center trying a variety of challenges and routes along various walls. The center has a cafe, rock climbing, bouldering, changing rooms (with showers) and lockers to keep everything safe while you focus on having fun. We will 100% be back, we loved it

Brought the boys in for a RockRatz session over half term and they had a great time. The instructor (Martin) was excellent (give this guy a promotion and a pay rise). Highly recommended 👌

Stopped in as my 4yr old had been rock climbing a couple of weeks before. We were just around the corner so thought I would enquire as to how it all worked, I'm not into climbing myself and know NOTHING. The person that served me was so lovely and informative, they talked me through the process and asked if I wanted to book a session. The next session happened to be in an hour, we had lunch in the cafe and then my lad had his first rock mice session. The instructor on the session was lovely the 8 other young "mice" to deal with they did a great job at getting them engaged and listening. It was lovely to be in the room and watch as they played games on the interactive we all for to the first 30mins and then they got to go on the auto belay. Hats off to the instructor again for getting them all engaged and climbing. My lad really enjoyed it, although we'd had a busy morning so he was tired before we started. We will be back for sure
Ashley — Google review
Loved it. 😍 Cafe was too expensive for what it is, sausage roll and coffee £6 and waiting 25minutes for my coffee to be made. but the kids adored their sessions and the instructors were absolutely fantastic with the kids.

Nature & Parks
Barnwood Park and Arboretum is a picturesque natural area featuring formal gardens, walking paths, a pond, and seasonal grazing farm animals. It's a notable stop on the 'Of Earth and Sky' cycle routes, offering a tree trail, beautifully carved tree trunk, and diverse wildlife. The park occupies the former Barnwood House Hospital grounds and boasts mature trees like Giant Redwoods, Dawn Redwoods, Indian Bean Trees, Cedars, and Pines.
Beautiful tranquility, very calm and peaceful. Clean and lots of character. Less people at times so it's good for a long walk to clear one's head.
Ovindhi P — Google review
Barnwood Park is an interesting small green space in urban Gloucester. The park is also described as an arboretum as there are many large trees here, including oaks, coniferous giants and more. One can walk about inside the place. It is accessible to us from different ends. Unfortunately, apart from walking, there is little else one can do. No facilities, no bins, no water taps, no children’s area. I did take some photos.

Lovely little free place to take kids for a walk. Bonus round was to walk through an area with very friendly cows. Went on the hunt to find a monkey puzzle tree.

Gorgeous! We would definitely visit again. My son was particularly taken with the small bridges on the pond, the butterfly ‘wild’ areas and the (three) Dexter Cattle 🐄 😂. They seem to have a bit of a rat problem at the moment. Although , once again, my son was very happy to watch the rats dart from bush to bush from a distance.

One of my favorite places, quiet and such a fun place, grandchildren absolutely love it. Can walk run and play Superb Parking is easy What's not to love Beautifully looked after, even have sheep on occasions
Chrissy P — Google review
Well thought area for all ages (and dogs). The old remnants of the Barnwood House estate have been transformed into a well managed public space. You can walk the entire park and arboretum in about half an hour but ignore it’s size as it’s more a place to dawdle and take in the variety of the plants and features. The beautifully carved benches are fascinating too. Try and find the piano. The ducks (actually Northern Mallards) are regular visitors to Wotton Brook that flows through here. Look out for the Coots (white beaks) and Moor Hens (red beaks) too. The recent addition of a deliberately constructed balancing pond adds to the charm of the area. That part of the park is a real sun trap with no cooling breeze. Being low ground it also requires wellies when wet. The old estate chapel, now deconsecrated, houses a gym so unfortunately the interior can’t be viewed but the outside is in good nick and quite photogenic. Parking can be a challenge as the gym members use the spaces adjacent to the park in Church Lane. There’s a lay-by area across the road next to the church with free, unrestricted parking. It gets full at school drop off and pick up times due to the nearby secondary school and of course on Sundays.

Such a brilliant and educational little farm in the middle of a small space! Free entry and a little space for parking. If you go after breakfast at weekends you can tour this little farm with your kids. More cities should have places like this. Brilliant and enjoyable for an hour as it is small. Good range of animals and I love the horse!

What an awesome place this is I the most unlikely of places! Not a massive amount of animals but certainly enough to keep a 2 year old entertained for a couple of hours! It was a great day with my family. We enjoyed a lot. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day but we captured some beautiful views inside the sunflower field. They were like calling us to come out to hug them. It’s an awesome place for all those people who loved nature. Don’t miss it.

What an absolutely delightful day out at the strawberry farm! We went for a family picnic and had such a fun and entertaining time picking our own strawberries (PYO) — the fields were beautiful and full of sweet, juicy berries 🍓. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, especially for the kid, and made for some great family bonding. The farm shop was a real treat too, offering a variety of fresh, local produce and goodies to take home. We also enjoyed a relaxing break at the on-site café, which had a lovely atmosphere and served delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a refreshing and wholesome day out with family or friends. We’ll definitely be coming back next year!

It has become a yearly tradition to take our kids to Spookyard, although it is a little pricey, it is well worth it. We usually spend a good half a day plodding around. There's plenty to see and do, including shows, arts&crafts, feeding animals and usually pizza trailers etc ... We did attend pick your own strawberries this year, we attended early July and unfortunately there wasn't a lot to choose from, they were either gone over or not ripe at the time we went. However, the kids still really enjoyed it, so it wasn't a big deal for us. Recommend for a fun day out ! Keep an eye out for events too !

A super fun day out! First time visiting the farm at the beginning of summer holiday with our kids. It was a Bluey Special and our son absolutely adore it. Lots of fun activities without needing to queue for a very long time. We particularly loved the foam canon as it was really nice and cooling during the warm weather. For our son, he loved the tractor ride, quad train and bounce pillow. Not forgetting the playground too, of course. We also tried the mini golf which turned out to be loved mostly by the grown ups. For the ticket price, we think it is fairprice for the fact we can play without limit in the farm.

Brilliant, price is great, pumpkin patch is fantastic, decs are just brilliant, staff are lovely! We didnt get round to trying any food or drink, but we will be going back, it is our second year there and the kids love it. Its a wonderful experience for adults and kids, take wellies/ all in ones/ coats and spare clothes. Its very muddy, but its a farm after all!

We went strawberry picking at over farm. Very good set up with proper cabin for paying, and helpful staff giving good advice. The strawberries are laid out with flags so you know where to go and we found plenty of lovely big red juicy sweet fruit take home with us. We also went into the farm shop which is very well stocked. Found a fantastic ostrich egg, some lovely ice cream and beautiful local milk. Lots of free Parking. Would definitely come back here next year.

Great place. Lots to do and staff seem to have a good attitude and work hard, though there's not many of them. Josh was great doing both departments getting people checked in and serving drinks whilst his colleague was apparently on break, even if it did mean a small wait it was handled well.
Arthur — Google review
First impressions are really poor. Walked in and saw a few friends. We then went to the bar to order drinks like any normal person. Stood there for a while and felt like we were being ignored by the bar man as he served people to the left first…. Afterwards we discovered they had a weird queuing system. He could have politely mentioned that ignore us? If that’s your “system” fine but put a sign at the other end of the line to reflect that - we don’t come here often to know. I could see another guy equally confused and frustrated when we took this picture! Place is decent plenty going on and stuff to keep people entertained for a while. However, staff obviously need training, coaching or supervision. We wanted to get a game of bowling and asked the girl at the desk is there any difference in price for one or two games, her answer “I don’t know” so we just had the one game. We were allocated lane 19 despite lanes 1-18 being empty. We walked into lane 19 saw food and drink left by the people before so moved it out to the end. That’s where it stayed for the whole of our visit. After our game we walked down to see pretty much lanes 2-16 which haven’t been in use during our visit in the same condition. Yet you’ve got staff chatting behind the bar. Surely staff are allocated to tasks like cleaning, bar, desk etc? Three stars purely because price is reasonable and plenty to do. Would I rush back in comparison to your competitors and what they offer…. Probably not! 1* Service & Standards 3* Value for Money 5* Range of things to do
Shaun T — Google review
We went for a family evening out. Our son wanted to play laser tag when he got told he wasn’t tall enough moments later they let a little girl through the same height as our son. A couple of the adults in the group played laser tag and where not shown the safety video we where told I want my break so let go. Not impressed by the overall place it was dirty stuff all over the floor. One lady was Lovley trying to sort the situation out ( she has green hair)
Amy B — Google review
Visited on the weekend for a birthday party in the laser tag room. Overall a great experience with friendly staff and lots to keep everyone entertained from pool tables to coin arcades to bowling. Food was freshly cooked and fairly priced. The manager came over to our table to inform us that no outside food was allowed in the premises due to “allergies” but this is absurd to have as a policy over watermelons and cucumber slices but to then sell M&M peanut sweets at the bar. I’m off the understanding that she didn’t realise we had paid for the use of the venue and ordered extra food. All in all we would return to Tenpin Gloucester
Matt W — Google review
We visited on a busy evening in school holidays - queues were long but Callum M was friendly and helpful which made a long wait a bit easier to cope with. Overall it was a great visit and excellent value for money.

I would like to make it clear, I do like Tenpin as a whole generally and the staff at Tenpin are always lovely and very helpful. I would like to thank Callum M today for his assistance with an awkward area of concern, which now I have to question certain aspects of child safety. We had made a complaint that parents had been sat inside the childs play area on their phone. They were not in helpping or assisting any children, but continued to sit inside on their phone. I appreciate this may seem silly to some, but how about if they were taking photos or videos of children, which I do not need to explain the dangers and problems! When I challenged the staff about the concerns, I was upset to find there is not policy or guidence regarding this. I have been to many establishments that clearly mark no phones/ photography within restricted areas. Why does this not apply here?

My children went to a "make and take" (I think it was called) craft day, for an hour they got to make little crafts and they had a brilliant time! Thoroughly recommend it. And it's a social enterprise company - all the money goes back to the community.

Tumble Tots Gloucester is a fantastic destination for young children, having been established in 1979 as the UK's pioneering structured physical play program. Catering to kids aged 6 months to 7 years, it offers an engaging environment filled with vibrant and specially designed equipment that encourages active play. Parents have shared heartwarming experiences of their little ones thriving in this setting; one parent noted how their son developed confidence and climbing skills from age two through his early school years.
Tumble Tots was so good for my little boy. He loved it from around age 2 through to school; it gave him confidence to climb safely and meet other children, whilst working in groups, pairs or individually. When climbing now, at age 5, i can see he has kept the skills he learnt and always climbs up and down in such a safe way. The team are great, so engaging for both kids and adults!

Visitors can enjoy guided cockpit tours of jet fighters and an airliner. The museum offers free entry with the option to make donations. It's a family-friendly destination where children are warmly welcomed, and volunteers are knowledgeable and accommodating.
Really lovely museum with the opportunity to sit in a few different cockpits. The volunteers were all really friendly, welcoming and informative. The museum is free of charge and there is a cafe

Nice and immersive volunteer run museum next to Gloucestershire Airport. I honestly hadn't previously heard about this treasure and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. The premises were clean, well organised and various, well curated airframes- with thoughtfully researched placards. My personal favourites were the Hawker Sisley Trident and Avro Vulcan narrated tours. All the volunteers were also very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Overall, will definitely recommend.

Fabulous little gem next to the busy small airport. Plenty of nearby take offs, lovely museum - a lot to see & hands on experience. Volunteers are amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Dave — Google review
Great museum, well curated, main theme is anything with a tie to local Gloucestershire air industry. No entry fee, plase give a donation. You can sit in a Vulcan cockpit and also that of the Trident airliner. Very helpful & knowledgable volunteers. Books, pictures and model kits and toys for sale. Nice cafe to visit at end for a brew and biscuit. Impossible to find anything wrong or criticise. Everything is well curated and presented. We will be back.

Biggles flies undone. December 17th, 1903. Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Wilbur Wright turns to brother Orville and angrily 😠 says "I told you we should've fitted a jet engine. We'd have got a lot further than 120 feet." "Jet engine?", replied Orville, "Frank Whittle hasn't invented them yet!" Wilbur only half heard him, his mind was on other things. War was looming, Wilbur was rethinking the design, "Where can we put the bomb 💣 bay?" he muttered to himself. Run by volunteers, whose only error was asking me to make a contribution, this is a pretty coolio place to visit. No charge to get in, hours of fun for all the family. War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing (Say it again).

Excellent museum, free too (although I donated of course) Great display, great cafe and seating in and out, good parking. The displays are brilliant. Well done!!

Lovely museum with very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Great experience, I’d highly recommend it. Don’t miss out on sitting in the Vulcan and Trident cockpits either!
Zsuzsa K — Google review
What a delightful museum! The absolute highlight was not only sitting in the cockpit of the Vulcan (genuinely, it is such a powerful and atmospheric experience), but speaking through some of the details with a former Vulcan pilot (Ray). We could’ve sat with him for hours — such a modest man. I wish we’d allocated more time for the visit. Will definitely visit again with the kids 👌

Ninja Warrior UK Gloucester is an adventure park inspired by the popular TV show. It offers a variety of obstacles to test your ninja skills, including the famous Warped Wall. The park is suitable for both kids and adults, providing an adrenaline-pumping experience for all. Visitors have praised the welcoming staff who go above and beyond to assist everyone, including those with additional needs.
Took our 6 year old for the first time for a friends' party. Fabulous place, real active kids heaven. Will be back with our other children too. Great cafe, serving tasty coffee, cakes and extensive menu. Pizza was top notch, none of your frozen pizza taste but real authentic flavour. Cafe overlooks the ninja area so you can supervise and relax at the same time. Parent paradise! Everyone's a winner, what's not to like?!

This was our first experience and my two granddaughters absolutely loved it! They are super fit and confident so were able to participate in the vast majority of the equipment, with a little help from the staff. For slightly younger children there is an inflatable area which would provide fun. The viewing gallery and cafe was useful - but viewing was limited to the nearest equipment only. The staff in the cafe were friendly and efficient and when she wasn't busy serving she was cleaning the floor area- hard working! The toilets were spacious and clean. We'd booked a two hour session but an hour would have been sufficient. However, my girls loved it and were exhausted after, but full of praise for the fun they'd had.

We celebrated my son's birthday here. Absolutely fantastic. Lovely staff on the welcome desk and around the site. So friendly and helpful and understanding! The facilities are great and the course is absolutely epic! Fun time all around. Thank you!
Abi S — Google review
My grandkids were invited to a birthday party and had a great time. The venue has recently been refurbished, and they've done a really good job. The party was a huge success. They had a dedicated member of staff looking after the kids throughout, then they all enjoyed some party food, which went down well. A great alternative for a kids party - certainly helps with the stress levels!!! Recommended.

Newly refurbished but nothing special. Prefer the old layout with the soft form pit instead of the new crash mat. The inflatable area is naff. Won't be going back much, if at all!
Wesley I — Google review
Children had a great time! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The only criticism is the lacks of trampoline. I know it’s our fault for not checking beforehand, but the kids were expecting trampoline alongside everything else. Still a great place thought:)
Masha O — Google review
Facilities are good, but staffing is poor. My child was injured because of lack of supervision by staff. Children running wild, not following the rules of the safety video, being chased by staff (!) who were then not watching the equipment. Had to leave early. No refund offered. A team member apologised to my son but then tried to justify staff behaviour as 'interacting fun' - not sure that's appropriate if it compromises safety.

Step into the world of Gloucester's past at the Folk of Gloucester museum, housed in two stunning half-timbered houses. The museum showcases 500 years of local life, with exhibits ranging from period costumes to a replica Victorian classroom. One of the houses was once home to John Hooper, the Anglican Bishop of Gloucester, adding a layer of historical significance. Visitors can expect an immersive experience that brings history to life and offers insight into the town's social history.

Fantastic historical events venue with a café. Great to see and feel its history throughout the building and the creaky floorboards add that old-world charm, not to mention it was built before Henry VIII came to power.....wow, a definite must-see. open Thurs- Sat, 10 am - 4 pm

Should have 6 stars. Friendly place with really good activities and music. Wonderful building too.

I popped in today, Tuesday 20th, to leave something for someone who was taking a craft class there. The atmosphere was very calm but inviting and there were 8 or 9 ladies there, all crafting. They made me feel very welcome and were friendly.

Lovely museum and a really lovely setting for it. Staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful. Lovely little cafe. A real sense of history for the county and the city.

A hidden paradise away from it all, a great place to visit and to relax at the café and garden. Marvelous staff, and the best coffee in Gloucester.5 stars from us!
Chris O — Google review
Impressive local historic museum and venue that also hosts various special events. The building itself is worth a visit for its own architecture, but it also contains various displays & artifacts from Gloucester and surrounding region. It also has a nice cafe & outdoor space. Including a very peaceful recreation of a Tudor garden.

Robinswood Hill, located on Gloucester's southeast side, is a country nature reserve offering woodlands, walking trails, and picturesque views of the city. Covering over 250 acres, this diverse habitat is popular with keen walkers and families alike. The hill provides an awesome vantage point at the summit where visitors can enjoy superb views of the Malvern Hills, Black Mountains, and even the Severn Bridges on a clear day.
A well maintained hill - especially lovely in the summer as there is a relatively new indoor and outdoor cafe. Great views from the top (popular on fireworks day!). Does get slippy/muddy when it’s wet.
Jasmine T — Google review
Robinswood Hill is a lovely place for a quick walk if you are in the Gloucester area. There are plenty of footpaths in the area through grassland and woodland. From some points on the hill there are some amazing views over the city and surrounding countryside. The best views are from the top where there is a trigpoint, fire beacon, topograph, information boards, and benches to rest after the climb. There are plenty of footpaths on the hill, but most of them aren’t displayed on many maps. The best way to visit the nature reserve is to just walk around without any particular aim. There are a few car parks around the hill, but there is also plenty of street parking if these are full. The main car park is free but does have a closing time. Overall, a great place to walk, but can get very muddy and slippery in winter months.

I love this place. Quiet, unspoiled and tracks well looked after by the local land owner. Great for dogs to run free when the cattle aren't roaming.
