Lovely Gaudi building. The building process documented on interesting display boards in Spanish and English. The highlight for us was the Goya etchings, the Los Caprichos, on the 3rd floor. A look into the mind of a genius artist.

One of only three Gaudi buildings outside of Barcelona, Casa Botines is perhaps Gaudi's most conservative structure. That said it is still wild in its irregular beauty.

The building is very nice, but the museum part is very plain. Maybe it is because I am a foreigner, but I couldn't watch and analyze too long some modern arts and old house parts, just like the bathroom. There are 3 levels, and there are rooms where just posters about the architecture and methods. I don't regret this 9 euro, but I thought it would be something amazing (according to the lot of good reviews).

What a horror of place. The Morcilla is good but not the best and definitely not worth to take the insults and bad character of the owner and cook. The guy insults people, accused and agreed several groups during the 20min we were here. From “I’m not serving you” to calling bad names to some girls there. Really AVOID this place!

Rude. We went to try what is supposed to be he best morcilla but the cook was so rude we didn’t stay. I have never been treated so badly in one instant. Avoid this place

if you want to try the best morcilla in Leon, you need to know your place, make the queue, no special requests, only local wine, pay cash and enjoy!! Worth it!!

I am basing my 5 star review only based on the Morcilla de Leon. It was one of the best ones I tried in Leon as well as being the spiciest version which I really enjoyed. The owner was there alone and was friendly but I could see service being an issue although it was not my experience. The Morcilla is worth any other issue in my opinion.

This place is nice to go only for some tapas. The morcilla is a must to try! I liked it a lot that I even bought some take away. Quite affordable and giving a bar/cantina vibe. Great place to meet for a tapa and a picudo wine before dinner.

They won't serve you if you're not Spanish and they are rude about it. Have some self respect and go elsewhere.

If you’re American, The patatas picantes free tapa rival Bojangles fries. They’re that good, great selection of inexpensive local wines!

Take your drink... (we are in Spain, wine is the best option) and you will have a small plate with amazing french fries made on the spot. A full immersion in the typical Spanish experience.

Really good & abundant spicy fried potatoes pincho washed down with good organic albarín white wine. The best, the owner Inmaculada. Pilgrim friendly bar.

Disappointing experience. Views are great and our starter was very nice but the veal main was chewy and overcooked. Couldn’t eat half of it and although the manager apologised I was still charged the full amount. The fish was nice although contained some bones.

First of all, I would like to point out the terrible, unacceptable length of the waiter's (or hostess's, don’t know exactly what he was doing constantly near waiters, it seems was helping them) nails, Pablo's. It's horrible and shameful if you allow staff with such nails to serve people. The second thing I would like to point out is the absolutely poor level of the cuisine. We took tuna tartare and, apart from the spiciness, we didn't feel anything at all. It shouldn't be like that. We also took the tongue and it was old, not at all fresh. They barely grated the cheese. Then we wanted to order two cocktails. As it turned out, it was impossible to order either a negroni or a caipirinha, or most of what's on the menu. With all this, the prices look pretentious. The only good thing about this place is the view of the city.

Very tasty olives and cheese board. The service helped us find out where to buy the good olives, but we didn’t find them unfortunately. A very good spontaneous experience.

Excellent food, however, the bill (la cuenta) was totally incorrect. We were charged twice for at least half our meals. When we queried the bill, the waitress seemed angry and rude, and also didn't even ask what was wrong, which to me seems that they knowingly gave us an incorrect bill,which is very dishonest. This left a very bad taste for us, despite the amazing food. I would recommend this place for sure, but be sure to check the cost at the end.

Service was slow and unorganised really. Food was ok, turbot was over cooked which was a huge shame.

Price - 32E for 8 croquetes on a plate and 8 slices of manchego on a plate with two tiny bits of bread. I’ve paid 8E total in other places for this. Drinks also expensive. The waiter seemed annoyed from start to finish.

Horrible service. Mechanical and rude service. We came for some food and drinks. We asked if they had a couple of Tapas they have on the menu and the barman said NO, only Olives, Chips and Salmorejo. After some time I see other people getting the Garlic soup and other things. So I really didn't get this type of discrimination on what you can order. Leon is full of Tapas bars... don't waste your time here and go somewhere else.

My favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere. It’s nostalgic in that the decorations, bar, and staff uniforms seem to come out of a time from Spain’s past. They serve the best rice tapa in town. I come here every time I’m in Leon. It’s also where many locals go, which means it’s good!

Semplicemente… the best! Tapas and Raciones absolutely of top level, really typical environment, nice to be here. You can’t miss it

Important to book a place in advance!! There is the Bar, the Restaurant and the terrace. Would definitely recommend to go and have the experience and the food there, a little bit expensive but the view from the terrace is magnificent viewing on the cathedral. Next time I’m in town I’ll go there again.

One of the highlights of my May/June 2016 camino. Fantastic atmosphere, packed with locals on a Saturday afternoon, moms, dads, kids, grandparents... real slice of Spanish life. Best paella (as a tapa!!!) I ate in Spain. Love the server's outfits with the oversize flowers. A must to see the real Spain on your camino.

Nice restaurant. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Didn't speak English but that's our problem to get around which we did no issue at all. Food was delicious.

Rude staff. Wouldn’t allow us to drink outside as it was busy, then when inside waiter literally pushed my wife multiple times to get past. Passive aggressive behaviour. Generally rude. Shouldn’t behave like this. Should be addressed by the manager.

The waiter obviously objected to our lack of Spanish and was very unhelpful. Came out with the other parties meals and three plates treating it like tapas. My meal didn’t come until I had left. Worst dining experience in Spain so far. I have been here over a month. Don’t stop here. We saw others leave and should have. Saw that I could add to venting my spleen about this restaurant. My wife and friend stayed as their food had come out but my meal was about 30 minutes after theirs. The waiter continued to be awe full to them and was rude and aggressive to them even more so after I had left. He tried to Bully them. The rudeness and aggressiveness continued to the till when they paid. The man at the till continued the rude aggressive behaviour. We really wish we had left before we had ordered like a table next to us did who had the same waiter. Don’t go to this restaurant. There are several in the plaza and I am sure they won’t be as bad as this one. Appalling.

I was visiting Leon for one day, I stopped here to get some Tapas. The food is very reasonably priced and is good quality. The owner of the bar was extremely generous and friendly. I even saw him give a free plate of patatas to a refugee boy who came in hungry and asking for food. A nice experience all around and a business worth supporting!

I ve been lead by the google recommendations and got proven right. The food was excellent. As i ordered and communicated in spanish, everything was easy goin. i ordered patatas bravas, croquettes and a plate of jamon with a beer. all my specials wishes and questions have been answered and fulfilled and the food was very fine. The prices are okay. full recommendation!

Beautiful location in a nice small square, with lots of bars. Very busy inside and out. Had drinks and free tapas of ham and potato Bravos. Also tried a small bowl of there lentil soup which was lovely. Food going out looked good.

This building is stunning. Just had a wine with free tapas chips & meatballs which was lovely. Food menu looks great. Abit pricey if your on a budget, but looks amazing menu.

Decoration outstanding. Medieval style with much wood and stone everywhere. Quality of food far from ideal. I did not expect such a bad quality in such a beautiful place. The menu is not very appealing. Music is not for the place and it is too loud. Id expect more background and calm music. Locationnis good.

Fantastic Vermouth experience in the romantic barrio of the old town! Staff was very friendly and helpful making good choices in the large variety of Vermouth offered! Also the food was very well above average of the rest of town. I would recommend smaller groups and as always some kind of Spanish language knowledge.

Here 1:30 pm Mon/8 Aug. The daily special requires 2 people and as I didn't feel the urge to eat twice the food or take one of them to go, i opted to order off the regular menu. I enjoyed the Iberian Secreto pork cut, quite tender and reminds me of veal. Friendly service.

We needed a quiet break from touring and tapas/pintxos. This place was perfect and we had an excellent, delicious hamburger (no me crtiques por algo más americano) with papas fritas-- lightly fried potatoes. For the purists, I had an excellent vino rosado.

There are many choices for a good dinner, but this spot sure is one of the best. Iinformal but very well attended, mix with the local to have Vermu, or just a delicious dinner to start El Camino. For dessert, ask for the "pijamas"... a sampler of home made sweets.

Patio dining under cover and foliage. Hard seats but good atmosphere in a great city. Recommend garlic prawns and certainly the scallops. Budget a starter and two mains with bread and a bottle wine at around €35

🙋‍♂️The service was great, They recommended the "Solomillo patio" and it really tasted like a speciality. 🏠The place is pretty and you really don't feel cold but neither warm, if it's windy sometimes it can be cold. 🍗The food was really good, I just needed to include some bread because I ordered it after and they just give me from some of days ago..... 💰Talking about the price, the quality and taste of the food was great and the space is great and in the center of the city so is not expensive. 🌟7/10

Horrible service. As soon as I stood up to go to the toilet, they cleared the table, and put a reserved sign on the table. They even moved my bag from the table to behind the bar. I wasnt offered the desert that's part of the offer. Just because I don't speak Spanish they did not treat me like a normal customer. Won't be going again.

The location is great, the drinks ok, but the service is horrible. Some young guys walk there as if they own the place.

It was fantastic, I am a study abroad student and have been living in various cities in Spain for the last two months and this restaurant was definitely my friends and I favorite. High quality food, large portions, great drinks, very affordable and very very nice atmosphere. 10/10

I went to this bar because I’ve seen it had good reviews. But the burger I ordered had not well cooked meet inside. In some parts was raw. I hope I won’t have food poisoning. Turns out that the good reviews is for the previous owner of the place.

Great food and atmosphere where there is friendly service to go along with the great beer too. I found this place to be just off the main strip but close to where people still pass through so you can sit and enjoy the outside when nice. Tapas are great and the beer is spot on with variety and flavor. Definitely a spot you have to try when in the city.

Craft beer and a tapa of Jamon and fresh baguette. Goes well together and delicious. Love the outside space with glass covered roof. Great to see young kids and adults alike in a pub/ bar enjoying an evening out.

Outstanding beer selection (I believe that we tried them all), and they come with thinly sliced Serrano ham, which was excellent too. Busy on the day we visited, but very easy to find some space near the bar or adjoining spaces.

Service was excellent by the lady who served me The beer is also very good. The octopus was good but not great because towards the thick part, it was tough and chewy.

We didn't even get in, as we went early to try the famous croquetas, but long enough after their opening time, and they just told us to wait outside because they were not open yet. Literally, they kicked us out. Not cool.

Great busy, divey diner in León. Probably the farthest north bar in León’s main bar areas. Unlike the rest of León this place is not really for tapas - though housemade fried potatoes with mayo and optional paprika are served free with drinks. It is expected that you order a racion. Plenty of good stuff to chose from. Mussels in paprika and tomato sauce is always a hit, everything else looked good too especially the pig ear and asadura (pig organs). 1 full size racion is more than enough for 2 ppl to split with bread, maybe get a half racion for 2 people if you’re planning on having other tapas in Leon too Service is gruff but friendly, classic old man bar vibes. English probably not spoken. Packed with locals, gets full at peak hours. Fun, boisterous, loud, familial atmosphere.

Disclaimer: I love patatas in general, so my review can seem a bit biased for those who don’t love them, but those who do, it’s nr 1 place to go! I visited this place 6-7 times before I wrote this review, to be sure that It’s not my first impression which is typically better than the actual deal. Additionally I visited around 4-5 other bars where they also offer patatas, just to have a comparison point. So in conclusion this is for sure the best place to go for a glass of beer/wine + some patatas. Patatas are homemade and really good, the quantity is good also. But it’s not about the patatas only, it’s the combination of good atmosphere, good patatas and beer and authentic people working there. The main barman there (dark haired man) is one of coolest people I have met in food industry, he is genuine, authentic and really welcoming, as is all the other staff. You really do feel that this is your “home bar” (a term that I did not understand before) where you are welcomed when you enter. Bravo for excellent service and great experience! Anyway if you are in Leon and want to have a beer with tapas (I suggest patatas) in authentic chill environment then try not to miss this place.

Came to have tapas mid-afternoon; found the place to be small and rather chaotic. Once i managed to order food, service was fast and the pulpo was amazing!!

We were refused service (for drinks/tapas) as we weren’t ordering portions/rations so went elsewhere, it was one of our favourite bars on our last visit to Leon so a bit of a shame

Great, simple, local tapas bar tucked away in a little backstreet just 2 minutes from the Basilica. Generous portions of delicious food made this one of the favourite experiences on our trip.

Very slow service for simple food when it is not busy. Had the pimientos con patatas, Leon Morcilla and croquetas. It was all home made but took too long to come >45 minutes. The bread I was given was stale.

With lots of restaurants to choose from you are never sure you will make the right choice. We definitely did! Delicious "raciones" (croquettes, padron peppers, scrambled eggs, empanadas) and the best calamari I have ever eaten. All brought out with friendliness and enthusiasm. And of course, you get to see the people of Leon coming and going through the plaza in this beautiful city.

Great sardines and chicken wings! Good chicken wings in Europe always surprise me but they were worth it. The calamari was from a big squid, my least preferred type so I took off a star for that. Maybe it’s out of season so they little ones are hard to come by.

Very cute tapas place with very large portions- they give you the option of ordering halfs and when the food comes you are wondering how big the large portion would look like. Everything we tried was quite tasty! Extra bonus the guys who were working there were superkind!
