Cagsawa Ruins is a popular tourist spot in Legazpi, known for the remnants of a 16th-century Franciscan church tower and its stunning views of the Mayon Volcano. The site offers activities like Cagsawa ATV rides, allowing visitors to explore the area. Other nearby attractions include Lignon Hill Nature Park, which provides panoramic views of the city and volcano, as well as Embarcadero de Legazpi, a waterfront complex with shops and dining options.
A must-visit spot in Albay! We visited on a weekday, so it was not crowded. Just outside the site, there are souvenir shops and stalls selling affordable and cheap items. You can also find vendors offering ATV rides, which lead to various trails near the base of Mt. Mayon — a great way to explore the area. The ruins themselves provide stunning photo opportunities, especially on a clear day with Mayon Volcano in the background. Additionally, local photographers are available on-site to take professional photos for a reasonable price, ensuring you get beautiful memories of your visit.
Aaron C — Google review
People visits this place due to its popularity, history and scenic view of Mayon with the Bell tower Ruins. There is not much going on here but the cleanliness can improved. There is another entrance fee at back for which seems to be a private place with flower gardens and fish ponds. To me it is killing the historical scenic view of the place. But it is what it is. Best to see early morning when it is not crowded and the sun is not up.
BRYANT I — Google review
I can’t believe I finally witnessed the beauty of these ruins. If you’re lucky, you can see the stunning Mt. Mayon as a backdrop. Sadly, during our visit, Mt. Mayon was hidden from view but the place is still worth visiting if you want to relax and enjoy. There are also plenty of food stalls where you can grab something to eat.
Checkerra C — Google review
Great visit to Cagsawa Ruins! The historic bell tower with Mayon Volcano in the background is stunning. Loved the variety of shops inside selling local souvenirs and crafts. The tour guides and management were very polite and helpful throughout our visit. Highly recommend!
Jam V — Google review
been here several tomes and it never failed to remind me how blessed i am to see this place in person when i could only get a glimpse of this attraction in textbooks and magazines. the majestic volcano is truly a sight to behold. but it's also a natural equalizer once it wreaks havoc during an eruption. the cagsawa ruins js a stark evidence of how this volcano could claim lives and bury properties. tourists are aplenty, as expected. there are lots of stalls selling souvenir items including food, shirts, key chains, bags, coin purses among many others. there are also nearby restaurants to satisfy your hunger. visit this place if you're in albay. it's really picturesque. the natives here truly knew the right angles and poses that you could upload in your socmed account.

September 28, 2025 It’s so beautiful here! There are so many places to visit, and they even have chili ice cream — we really had a great time. If you’re a student or a senior citizen, make sure to bring your ID because you’ll get a big discount on the entrance fee.

What a spectacular site i would encourage anyone to visit dont miss out the view of the volcano is spectacular I visited twice on my stay in Ligao Bicol it was a trip to remember the people were out off this world

Church
Churches & Cathedrals
Daraga Church, also known as Nuestra Senora de la Porteria Parish Church, is a cultural gem in Albay, Philippines. Built in 1772, this Catholic church boasts a unique architectural style that blends Renaissance, Gothic, and Mexican influences. Made from local volcanic rock, the church's relief-filled facade and baroque design have captivated tourists for centuries.
This church is a stunning historical landmark. Perched on a hill, it has breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Adding up to its' charm is the church’s old, weathered facade. I've seen countless photos of the beauty of Daraga Church and the Majestic Mayon in the background that's why I was persistent in visiting. However, Mayon, as elusive as it is,hides behind the clouds just when I was ready to snap a perfect shot. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of its majestic peak, but even if you don’t, well the church itself is worth the visit. The peaceful atmosphere, intricate architecture, and panoramic view of Albay make this place special. If you are visiting here this church for history, faith, or just a scenic escape, Daraga Church won’t disappoint. Guaranteed.
Gemini W — Google review
Visiting Daraga Church was an incredibly magical journey for me. I discovered a deep connection between my spirit and the universe, leaving me hopeful that my aspirations will soon manifest. This is more than just a church visit; it's an encounter that promises to surprise and inspire you.
Salazar R — Google review
Visiting Daraga Church, also known as Our Lady of the Gate Parish Church, was such a memorable experience. Perched on a hill, the church gives a stunning view of the iconic Mayon Volcano, which perfectly complements its centuries-old beauty. The baroque-style facade, with its weathered stones and intricate carvings, truly speaks of history and faith preserved through time. Inside, the atmosphere is solemn and peaceful. The altar is beautifully designed, creating a sacred space perfect for prayer and reflection. I was able to attend Mass, and it felt very meaningful in such a historic and spiritual place. Daraga Church is not just a place of worship, but also a cultural and historical treasure. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Albay—whether for devotion, reflection, or simply to admire the breathtaking view and architecture. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) A must-visit landmark in Bicol, blending history, faith, and nature all in one place.
Jay R — Google review
One of a historical places you can visit near Legazpi, as you get to see how they design a baroque church in the past. Nice place to visit and on the side of the church you get to also see the view of Mayon Volcano.
Jezra B — Google review
The ancient church in the town is very antique and unique. People still come and do activity here. If you have lucky day, you can see the church with Mayon Volcano.
Jiraporn ( — Google review
This church is an absolute wonderful. I went here with my colleagues in the university and with my classmates in masters for the second time around. I have more photos of them but I seemed to delete them already hahah. I’ll be adding them once I find those. There are a lot of people going in this church and if you are lucky with the weather condition? The Mayon volcano can be seen as mesmerizing as it should💥🌋
Paolo C — Google review
Whenever I am in Albay, I see to it to visit Daraga Church. When I was in college, I am attending the mass here. The Mass Celebration here is solemn. Choirs give pleasant music that makes the celebration lively. Great view for Mayon too.
Rosemarie B — Google review
Easy to access the place and a must visit especially for catholic people and if you're lucky enough you got to see the Mt. Mayon because the place have a viewpoint. Parking is provided with minimal fee.

Nice hike uphill. The pathway is brushed and clean, plants and blooming flowers by the sides. Beautiful viewing point at the top. 👍 Would be nice to have a drinking water station (little fountain) at top pavilion.
Velana — Google review
This nature park that is synonymous with adventure, thanks to its exhilarating zip line experience. As you glide through the air, surrounded by lush greenery, the rush of wind against your skin is a sensation you'll cherish. This isn't just a zip line; it's a journey of thrills and scenic wonder that connects you with the very heart of nature. And speaking of heart, prepare to have yours stolen by the breathtaking view of Mayon Volcano and the city from this vantage point. Back then, this place is really good, there are mini stores that you can buy from, there is also the Zipline, and other fun activities that you might want to try. but the last time I've been there, which is January 3 or 4 this year 2022, there is no entrance fee than the very last time we went there. There are no mini store as of now, but the place is very pretty, and I love it, and the best time we got there is 5 pm and the view of sunset is very very very beautiful believe it or not, the sunset is genuinely beautiful in personal
Vicky C — Google review
We were unlucky. We spent four days in Legazpi in January, and it was constantly cloudy and rainy. Because of this, we only caught brief glimpses of the Mayon Volcano. The view from the viewpoint was poor. Otherwise, it must be a great view. The infrastructure is outdated, and the platforms are rusty. During our visit, there was construction, and we had to walk up the asphalt road for 13 minutes because the road was closed to taxis
World T — Google review
It is so fun to walk from the foot of the hill to the top, especially when you're with your friends and loved ones. The view from the top is so good. There are a lot of souvenirs and food items. The place is so accessible. Loop 1 and 2 jeepneys are available at the foot. The place is so nice. The view of Mt. Mayon and Albay Gulf is so good. You can also watch airplane landing and take-off because the airport is also visible from the top.
Honey R — Google review
We visited the park after the rain, late in the afternoon, so it was a bit cool at the top. There were a few good spots for picture-taking. There were also some souvenir shops that were open at the time. Unfortunately, activities like the zipline was not available during our visit so I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get to ride it.
Chelsea E — Google review
Idk what or when it happened but this place had been shut down. I'm a backpacker and my friend took me here. I was blown away that a place that looked like it had strong business and a nice place to relax has now been lost to nature. Still a good visit and it's a steep hike to the top fyi. 💡someone needs to put one of those giant hands there🤙

Sumlang Lake is a picturesque recreational spot offering stunning views of Mount Mayon. Visitors can rent boats, enjoy picnics, and capture beautiful photographs. The area has undergone renovations and expansions, resulting in an increased entrance fee. However, amenities such as restaurants and coffee shops are now available nearby. Activities like water biking and kayaking are offered at an additional cost. The lake also features a bamboo raft rental for a serene experience on the water.
We went here to celebrate valentines and it provided such a nice ambiance. Paddling around, and watching the sunset was worth the wait. There’s not much people around but there’s an entrance fee, and a parking fee so be mindful of that. There’s also a restaurant and food nearby. It’s nice to visit and stroll when you have some free time.
Joleen — Google review
I would say Sumlang Lake has gotten better than the last time I went in 2017. It has now a cafe and restaurant inside that is perfect with the picturesque view Mayon Volcano. They also offer water activities, bike rentals and photo souvenirs. Actually, I didn’t do much during our visit, I just really enjoyed the serenity this place has to offer. If you’re in Albay and just looking for a place away from the busy streets and noise of the city, with not much crowd and just want to take a breather or enjoy nature or just visiting Albay, I would recommend paying this place a visit :)
Shaine A — Google review
A perfect venue for wedding and the like and a good scenery for family picnic -- while, restaurant is also available in the area. Boating and balsa are offered as water activities as well. Unfortunately, again, not the best time for me to visit since weather is not desirable for mt. mayon view with the lake. Still, enjoyed it though.
Aaron M — Google review
Peaceful escape at Sumlang Lake! Loved the relaxing bamboo rafts and the amazing view of Mayon Volcano. Perfect spot to unwind and take in nature’s beauty.
Christian M — Google review
Best for people who want to stay longer and chill and watch the scenery, drink your coffee or refreshers while watching the clouds pass by Mt. Mayon. A great place to unwind without any worries and capture the reflection of Mayon in the lake. This was our last stop on our Bicol trip, and I’m so glad we made it. My boyfriend and I love places like this - just soaking in the tranquility of the sky and the peaceful surroundings. It’s a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sadly, we have to go home that time which we were pressured by our time and we should’ve visited it earlier. Since we are early and the restaurant is still not open and they referred us to the open coffee shop, we dined our breakfast. Everything is great, food is good, drinks are too milky for us (wrong type of order hehe, I should have ordered the juice na lang). I think this is best for people who are patient and willing to wait for their orders. Ours took almost an hour before they served our food and forgot to serve the potato chips we’ve ordered when we billed out na since it was taking too long for us. But anyways, everything is great. Nothing bad in Sumlang Lake, just a wrong timing of visit since we have time to catch. Thanks, Sumlang Lake. We will visit again soon without any hurry. My stay is not enough to grasp and try their activities here.
Lois A — Google review
Honestly, quite boring if you prefer travelling with adventure or a little fun and excitement but if you have kids they might enjoy the place because they have like go carts. The fish sanctuary is no longer open when we were there. But if you like a place to stay where you can relax, like what I did, just stay at the hammock and look at Mayon's view then it's a place to visit. We just pass through for a few minutes to rest and see what they offer before we went to Bulan in Sorsogon. BTW they have aqua biking activity by the lake.
Angie L — Google review
Sumlang Lake is the Lake Kawaguchiko of the Philippines. What a great spot on viewing Mt. Mayon while having a snack or meal at the Socorro's Restaurant. People can enjoy aqua biking, rafting, paddle boarding, fishing, and other water activities. Kids may also enjoy pedal bikes or trikes inland. Sumlang Lake is a must place to visit in Bicol and nothing compares to this place. The Mayon view is amazing, but you may have to ignore some of the squammy structures on the backdrop of the Lake.

5Legazpi Boulevard

Legazpi Boulevard, located in Legazpi City, offers a picturesque coastal road network that spans nearly 1 kilometer. It provides stunning views of the Mayon Volcano, Katipunan Hill, and the Albay Gulf. The boulevard is a tranquil spot where visitors can enjoy activities like morning jogs while taking in the breathtaking scenery. Despite some issues with trash on the volcanic black sand beach along the coastline, tourists still flock to capture nature's wonders.
This is definitely a chill spot to hang out if you're in the area. The long stretch along the coast offers a great view of the sea, with plenty of spaces for a casual stroll or just sitting and taking in the breeze. It’s well-kept, with nice pedestrian walkways, benches, and gardens that give it a relaxed vibe. That being said, if you're hoping for that iconic shot of Mayon Volcano in the background, you might be in for a disappointment. Sure, I've seen many other photos with clear skies and the perfectly cone-shaped volcano showing it's beauty and grandeur. In our case, Mayon was elusive, as I feel it often does, hiding behind clouds or just not showing itself at all. It’s kind of a tease—like, it’s there, but not there, you know?lol I’ve been to Albay a couple of times, and it feels like Mayon plays hard to get. But when it does pop out, it’s unreal—those perfect symmetrical slopes are breathtaking! Even without the volcano, though, there’s something peaceful about the place. It's great for a jog, a lazy walk, or just people-watching. There’s always something happening, but it’s never overcrowded. For me, it’s one of those low-key, underrated places that doesn’t need a volcano to be beautiful.
Gemini W — Google review
Legazpi Boulevard is one of Legazpi City’s most scenic and well-loved attractions. Stretching for about 7 kilometers along the Albay Gulf, this coastal road offers a picturesque view of the iconic Mayon Volcano, a refreshing sea breeze, and a peaceful atmosphere—perfect for both locals and tourists looking for a relaxing break. The combination of ocean scenery and the majestic Mayon Volcano creates postcard-worthy views, especially at sunrise or sunset. It’s a favorite spot for photography and drone shots. Well-Maintained and Clean The boulevard is generally clean and well-kept. Landscaping and lighting have improved in recent years, making it both pleasant and safe, even during evening strolls. Great for Outdoor Activities Ideal for walking, jogging, biking, or simply sitting by the sea. Many locals use the boulevard for fitness routines, and the wide sidewalks and bike lanes are a plus. Peaceful and Relaxing Atmosphere Away from the city center’s hustle and bustle, it offers a tranquil environment for reflection, casual dates, or small picnics with friends and family. Food Stalls and Eateries Nearby Local street food vendors and some seaside eateries are available nearby, offering local favorites like BBQ, halo-halo, and bicol express. Legazpi Boulevard is a must-visit when in Albay. Whether you're into photography, fitness, or just want to admire the view of Mayon Volcano while enjoying the sea breeze, this spot delivers. Its beauty, accessibility, and serenity make it a gem in the Bicol region.
Kevin T — Google review
Legazpi Boulevard is one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots in the city. Stretching along the coastline, it offers a breathtaking view of Mayon Volcano on one side and the vast sea on the other. The cool breeze, wide open spaces, and scenic backdrop make it perfect for jogging, biking, or simply enjoying a peaceful stroll. The place is clean, well-maintained, and family-friendly. It’s also a popular hangout for friends and couples, especially in the late afternoon when the sunset paints the sky with stunning colors. At night, the lights along the boulevard give it a vibrant yet calming atmosphere. Whether you’re here to exercise, relax, or just take in the beauty of Legazpi, this boulevard is a must-visit. Truly, it’s one of the city’s gems that combines nature, leisure, and community. It is (100/5) for me A perfect blend of sea, sky, and Mayon’s majesty—Legazpi Boulevard is a place you’ll always want to come back to.
Jay R — Google review
Mayon was hiding at the time of our visit :( will come back in the next days I'm here in Legazpi just to get a glimpse of the perfect cone of Mayon.
Marissa M — Google review
This place is perfect for running, jogging, or walking without the fear of being hit by a vehicle. However, I’m worried that it will become the next Manila Bay, with polluted and dirty water. Hopefully, people will stop throwing garbage into the ocean.

Good place to take a photo of Mt. Mayon with the port as foreground, but very little else to do for a tourist. Complex seems to be used primarily to host small government events and also have satellite offices of some government institutions. However, upkeep has not been maintained and there are unclean washroom, missing urinals, missing elevators, etc. i saw one or two government offices moving out when I visited and there are plenty of vacant spaces. There is a supermarket, small casino, and small technical school. There is also a hotel but I couldn't find it with the numerous dead ends. There are also quite a few small food establishments but I was not really drawn to trying them out.

better at night for the windy ambience great potential for businesses i just wonder why the building looked so abandoned during the day.

Embarcadero looks tired now, unexciting locator and general lack of vibe can be felt. I like the Padre Pio Chapel and the view of Mayon and the sea wall environ is very exciting from this point. I wish it can regain the good vibe it used to have!

Embarcadero had its elevate installed less than 6 months ago, for the last 2 months it has been out of order. While there has been some good improvements to this mall/building it is still far from well maintained. Are there any cleaners here
Stephen B — Google review
Large commercial space with a great view of Mayon Volcano. However, try to visit in the afternoon or evening to experience the buzz and noise of the place. When we visited in the morning, most dining spots were still closed and the place was still quiet. The good view of Mayon Volcano and the sea breeze compensated for it. You may enjoy some pizza and milk tea from the food court in the outdoor dining area.
Liza L — Google review
Visited last August 3, 2023 during the job fair. Although it is now quiet due to some businesses have already left and moved to a strategic location, it is still one of the best places to view Mayon Volcano aside from Legazpi Boulevard especially with lava flow at night. Highly recommended for foreign tourists or local tourists from other nation visiting Legazpi City. ☺️🤗👍

One of the highlights is the wildlife area where you can see different animals up close, making it both entertaining and educational, especially for kids. The surroundings are well-kept, and the atmosphere is calm, making it ideal for bonding moments. Another plus is its accessibility—it’s a budget-friendly destination where you can enjoy nature, animals, and open spaces without traveling too far.

Nice zoo , 50p entry for foreign. The park needs some TLC and some maintenance Some of the animals were a bit stressed. It needs some information graphics for some of the cages . The rest I'll let the pictures talk.. it's a nice family day out....just needs someone to love it....

It was a fun experience. Small park. Not a lot of animals. They have a Tiger and a Lion which was nice. That was about the fun of it.
Dami S — Google review
Went here about an hour before their closing time. There's definitely no waiting line, locals were very welcoming! Cost: 50 php for adults Things to do: Walk around (go up the stairs if you see them!), biking, boating, etc., Food: There are stalls inside. Most of them are snacks but there are heavy foods available as well! Parking space: Spacious for both motorcycles and cars. (Might vary depending on the number or visitors during your stay) Tips: 😺For pawisin people, I would definitely recommend wearing loose/breezy clothes since you'll definitely sweat a lot. Bring fans or handkerchiefs as well. 😺There are lots of enclosures that aren't that visible. Go up sa mga stairs if you see them, there are usually more cages there (monkeys, birds, etc.,)
Saykan D — Google review
Such abuse. The tiger and the lion are in small cages, only one in each cage. No room to even move, when I visited both were sleeping on a rock. The water is dirty and half empty, its very dirty everywhere, unclean environment for the animals. I saw a pony also alone in a small encaged space with nobody. And the birds! and dont get me started on the monkey cage. So many monkeys in one small lengthy cage. They were holding the bars looking outside as if begging to go out. I would rate this 0 if I could. I came here as a kid but never knew coming here when I am older now to finally understand that this is just animal cruelty. Theres a ton of peacocks in a very bad area, theres no enrichment for these animals. Animals deserve enrichment. If I had photos I would provide some, but don’t even go to see for yourself because it is so sad.
Kadence B — Google review
Great place for kids! Place is wide and they even have their own canteen inside. Food is affordable and delicious. You can also rent bicycle for kids and adults. You can do many things inside the park, highly recommended for family bonding ☺️ See it for yourself and enjoy the view. There are 300+ animals inside and don't forget to look for Zimba 🦁 and Trixie 🐯. Have fun!!

During my last visit in Bicol, I was blown away by how Mt. Mayon stunning it looked. The perfect cone shape was impressive against the blue sky, and the green fields around it made for a beautiful backdrop.

It truly lives up to its name. Witnessing this natural beauty feels like such a blessing. It’s best to view/visit Mt. Mayon early in the morning, as by around 10 a.m., it is often covered with thick clouds if luck isn’t on your side.

Amazing place to visit, did the sky drive ATV ride to the black lava trail, although it was cloudy, still a great little ride and good viewing spot for the volcano, There is a short little Zipline, not bad for a quick thrill.

Mt. Mayon or Mayon Volcano is captivating! A must-visit! This volcano is known to have the “perfect cone.” In fact it was regarded as one of the world’s most symmetric volcanic cones! Mt. Mayon is located at Albay province, Bicol region, Island of Luzon, Philippines. Went to the municipality of Cagsawa to see it for ourselves and did not disappoint. Mt. Mayon flaunted its beauty. I was captivated. So charming it took us til night to finally depart from the site. I was in awe! We tried the Bicolanos famous cuisines, laing and bicol express as well as their spicy level 3 ice cream with Mt. Mayon view. Right at the parking areas are stalls where you can buy pasalubong and souvenir items. Brought home some Pili for the Gods, Chicoli and Sugar Coated Pili.

The Japanese Tunnel, located in Camalig, Albay, Philippines, is a historical site dating back to World War II. Originally stretching to the city hall and used as a storage facility by Japanese forces during the occupation of Legazpi in 1941, this L-shaped tunnel now measures about 40 meters long with a depth of 2 meters. Despite natural weathering and soil erosion reducing its length, visitors can still explore its narrow passages that are only 3-4 feet tall.
Wear a Face mask I still can smell something there✌🏾
Vin Z — Google review
I'm not sure we entered the proper tunnels but we went down some stairs just in front of the Quituinan ranch, went across the white pillars of a house and followed a paved path between some banana trees and coconut trees and then a soil path as stairs leading to 2 tunnels with mud ground. We didn't get it but there were a couple of boots in the entrance. We even went on further on and saw another entrance covered with bamboo and palm branches. There's a pili nut tree right there so you can find some pili nuts easily on the ground. Bring mosquitoes repellent.
Patricil C — Google review
It was built by Japanese during WW2. Interesting place to visit once you’re at Quituinan Hills (it is included in the price). Short walk down (10 m). The tunnel is on the left. Up front is the decoy.
Anna K — Google review
You need to walk down around 5 minutes to reach this tunnel. Not so special but since it is near Quituinan hills it is ok to visit. You have to enter with a guide and pay her P100 aftee the visit.

In Oriental-Legazpi, you can visit a Japanese-dug tunnel from 1941. This tour is good if you have a translator but would of been good if they speak english to explain the story. The price they charge for this is not worth it. I am sorry for leaving this review but for me i expect more bang for my buck the tunnel one part of the tunnel was closed off as the Japanese tools remains in that tunnel but was blocked off so no one can steal them. Atlease put them in a museum or something to show them off. I was hoping to see the tools.

Filipino restaurant
1st Colonial Grill is a popular Filipino and Asian restaurant located in Albay Province, known for its local cuisine and unique dishes like chili ice cream. It's a moderately priced dining option with outdoor seating available. The restaurant has garnered positive reviews for its delicious Bicolano-inspired food and accommodating staff. With its diverse menu and pleasant ambiance, 1st Colonial Grill offers an enjoyable dining experience for both locals and tourists visiting the area.
THE ICE CREAM IS AMAZING! I had level one and it was really really good! The staff were accommodating even if we came in a bit late and they're almost closing. We got the set meals, it was unlimited rice but we weren't able to have refills because the serving is huge. The sisig was crispy, I just recently had my braces adjustment and it hurts sooo much! But it was delicious nevertheless! The pinangat was really creamy but not much of meat. The bicol express was really good and salty but not spicy enough for me. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely order again here! Its a nice welcome in Bicol!
Cassandra C — Google review
Food is overpriced in my opinion. The pork sisig came with no egg or mayo. It was really dry and difficult to eat. The embutido was filled with hotdog and egg, cheap filling for the price. I asked for mayo for the sisig and the young male waiter wanted to charge us 20 pesos for some mayo. I needed the mayo because the sisig was so dry. I won't be back.
Craig O — Google review
Sili Ice cream is a must try 🌶️ .. it has 4 levels of spiciness . Tried Level 2 - it was good 😋 also tried Pili and Carmelado flavors.. both did not disappoint 👍
Anna C — Google review
My cousins brought us here since it’s the pride of their city and I can see why. We had the Bicol Express which was my absolute favorite because it was perfectly creamy and flavorful. The Tinapa Fried Rice was served in a big pan making it great for sharing. We also tried their Laing made with dried gabi leaves cooked in coconut cream. It’s not really my thing but it was still pretty good. The Pork Sisig was also a standout and super tasty and crispy. The most interesting part was their Spicy Ice Cream. It was definitely unique. We only went for level 1 but even that had a nice kick. Another fun touch was that while waiting for the food they give you crayons and a placemat with a drawing of the Mayon Volcano to color. It kept the kids busy and honestly brought out my competitive coloring skills too haha.
Ronald P — Google review
One of the lunchtime staff likes to tell departing customers "see you tomorrow!" and, indeed, I had a meal here three times over four days. 1st Colonial is one of the most well-reviewed restaurants in the city and our first stop after unloading our bags at the hotel. Dinuguan (P109) 2.5 My benchmark for dinuguan is the one from Aristocrat. This is not better than Aristocrat. The meat is tender and there is no funky taste you get from other restaurants but they balance using meat (rather than innards) by adding kamote as well which is a no-go for me. I don't think the kamote really brings anything to the dish apart from being filler/extender. Bicol Express (P389) 3.0 Same sentiments for Bicol Express. Authentic Bicol Express is very much hyped by Bicolanos and this may not be the version being hyped. Coming from Manila, this is perfectly good bicol express but I did not feel like I was missing out on my entire life by having Manila Bicol Express if this was the point of comparison. If anything, this will make me search harder for "super authentic" "homestyle" Bicol Express. Spiciness is fair for someone who orders spicy food. Did not break into a sweat from the spice. Tinapa Rice (P65) 2.5 This is okay, and a reasonable price above their plain rice (P40). That said, we paired this with the dinuguan and the bicol express so the flavors of the tinapa were overpowered. I suggest ordering this with the spring rolls, fried chicken, etc. for better flavvor balance. Pasta Bicolana (P175) 5.0 This was my favorite among the savory dishes we tried during the trip! As someone who likes preparing oil-based pasta for myself, this is what I aspire to make. I will order this again every time I visit Legazpi. Pancit Bato (P175) 2.5 I've never had pancit bato but it is the regional variant of pancit and as someone who appreciate pancit I had to try it. The flavors are okay but I think I need to read about it more and try the dish again to better appreciate. Wasn't something that immediately struck me as something to look for in a menu or try to cook for myself. This also suffered from being ordered with the Pasta Bicolana. Vegetarian Spring Rolls (P149) 3.0 This is a great pairing with the pancit bato. I couldn't quite pinpoint what filling they use (no standout flavors like tofu or mung beans). I would have wanted a spicier vinegar to pair this with. Would be good to pair with sauce dishes. Sili Ice Cream (P129) 4.0 I ordered Level 2 and this was just right for me. You can definitely feel the spice and the slight numbing of your tongue, but not to an unbearable degree. I think the greatest asset of sili ice cream is how well it pairs with every other flavor because the kick of spiciness is so novel. I personally would not order three scoops of just sili ice cream and I find it much more interesting in seeking out what it pairs with best. Pili Ice Cream 2.5 I would want to better taste the pili in this in the same way as you would in peanut butter ice cream. Pinya Ice Cream 2.5 The texture of this was a little bit like a sherbet and different from the other flavors I tried. Slight sweet and sour taste. Carmelado Ice Cream 2.0 I don't know what carmelado is (caramel?) but this was the plainest flavor I tried and was definitely overpowered by the sili. Gabi Ice Cream 3.0 Had gabi chunks which was great but a little too close to ube ice cream to ditinguish itself. Pinangat (145) 3.0 I think the kitchen flubbed this order since I ordered the spicy variant and didn't really get a lot of spice here. While it's not exactly laing, the overall taste is really pretty close. You'll like it if you like laing and you won't if you don't. Pork Sisig (325) 2.5 Perfectly ok sisig but doesn't reach the highs of what I've had from other fast casual restaurants and places in Manila (particularly Congo Grille and a jollijeep near Three Salcedo). While my hit rate for the restaurant is not high, they have an extensive menu exhibiting local flavors so I will likely dine here again.
Jet K — Google review
Was actually amaze by their sili icecream. Food is great. Service is excellent
Farah A — Google review
Had mixed feelings about the food and service. It's disappointing that the restaurant didn't live up to my expectations when it comes to their signature dish, the Bicol Express. The small serving skze and serving the dish not hot was totally a let down. However, I enjoyed the Kandingga, which is Bicol's version of bopis. The Pasta Bicolana and Tinapa Fried Rice both received positive ratings for taste, but the fact that they were served not hot could be improved. It's also worth noting that the servings are only good for 1-2 people, which may not be ideal for those dining with a group. On a positive note, the ice cream flavors sound unique and delicious. It's definitely a must-try. Lastly, service is slow and it's a bit inconvenient that the restaurant only accepts cash and Gcash. It may be helpful for them to offer more payment options in the future to accommodate customers' preferences. Overall, it seems like there are some hits and misses at this restaurant. While it's good to try new things and support local businesses, it's important to manage our expectations and make informed decisions when dining out.
Kristal G — Google review
Went here on a weekday to try their famous sili ice cream. I only tried level 1 since I'm not a fan of spicy food. It tasted great, very creamy and with just the hint of spiciness (like when you accidentally used your spoon to crush your chili and then use the same spoon to scoop some ice cream) will try the higher level next time. Staff is very accomodating and I was assisted in a timely manner

Legazpi Airport is a small yet busy airport in the Bicol Region, offering flights to and from Manila and Cebu. Despite its size, it provides a nice view of Mayon Volcano. The terminal has recently been expanded to accommodate more passengers and cargo traffic. It features good air conditioning, clean restrooms, a nursing room, and a play area. There are limited boarding gates and seating can be insufficient at times.
Small airport servicing flights to/from Manila and Cebu. Nice view of Mayon Volcano. Right now only two airlines are using it - Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines. Only two boarding gates. Because it is just small it can get cramped and not enough seats at times for all waiting passengers. Clean and drinking water available for free so bring water bottles with you and just refill inside. There are recent additions of a coffee shop/stand and a dumpling stand (Mister Siomai).
Emmylou N — Google review
Small but nice airport. Surroundings is clean. No free Wi-Fi though. There are hotels and restaurant around. When the weather is good you'll will have a picturesque view of the beautiful Mayon volcano.

Airport has good air conditioning. Comfort rooms are clean. They have a nursing room and play area. TV is also provided as entertainment for waiting passengers. Given the small space, a lot of seats are available. It also looks like the seats have been recently replaced. There is also a buffet restaurant outside the departures area at the parking lot. Only issue with this airport is their radio or voice over system. It needs to be replaced soon as it is hard to understand important announcements.
Mirei T — Google review
Airport is not bad. Wifi isn't available but I got 4G with Smart. There should be more concessionaires though. Food choices become limited when you're flight gets delayed. You have limited choices too for last minute native goodies. Inside the waiting lounge is just fine. Air conditioning is alright.
Jose A — Google review
The busiest airport in Bicol Region. It offers flights from both Manila and Cebu. One unique facet of this airport is its view of Mayon Volcano in the background. The terminal is small yet it was expanded just recently to accommodate more passenger and cargo traffic, while the newer and bigger airport is still under construction at Daraga town. There are no concessionaires or stores inside the terminal building. However, the stores are located just within the airport lot, just in front and on the sides of the terminal. You can buy your pasalubong and souvenirs from the Canteen and Airport Cafe nearby. The airport is prone to flight cancellations on bad weather, so better prepare a contingency plan and bring a lot of patience with you.

When visiting Tiwi, Albay, don't miss out on the delightful experience at DJC Halo-Halo & Snack Inn. This cozy restaurant, owned by Djohn G. Clutario, began as a small halo-halo stall and has now expanded to offer budget-friendly breakfast, lunch, and snacks. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a quick iced dessert while exploring the area.
They have a small kiosk in Pacific mall which brings the original Tiwi DJC Halo halo in legazpi. The best in town, and they have maintained their signature taste over the years. And for the price point, it's definitely worth your money. Their halo halo has the right blend of everything, not super sweet. Highly recommended.
Nashrene R — Google review
The stall is located at the Food Plaza (foodcourt) of Pacific Mall. Live music is sometimes played at the foodcourt but since there are many vacant spaces, the general atmosphere is not great. I'm not a huge fan of halo-halo so I just went with the "midget" size which was more than plenty for me. Midget Halo-halo (P85) I found the halo-halo pretty good and I might add cheese to my takeout from other places in the future. Brings a sliver of cheesiness and creaminess to the halo-halo which can often be too sweet. No ice cream needed. If you're just ordering this as an after-dinner snack, I think the midget is enough for two people to share already.

Sumlang Lake is the perfect spot to witness the majestic Mayon Volcano, offering a breathtaking view of its perfect cone shape mirrored in the tranquil waters of the lake.

The lake is small but you can do a lot of activities. The view of Mayon is great. At night, you can see the glow from lava flow.

Sumlang Lake is a small park with not many tourists, but it does not affect its beauty. The lake is clear and the reflection of Marong volcano is very beautiful. The boat (bamboo rows) in the lake is another flavor, it is worth playing.

Safety is a top priority, with well-trained guides ensuring a secure and enjoyable adventure. Whether you're a first-timer or looking for an adrenaline rush, this ATV experience is highly recommended for anyone visiting Albay.
We had an unforgettable experience with the Green Lava Trail ATV tour! The ride takes you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes, from lush greenery to volcanic terrain. Our guide was fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we felt safe and comfortable throughout the ride. One of the highlights was the videos he takes while you're riding. It's such a great way to relive the adventure after you’re done. The ATV was in great condition. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a beginner, this tour is definitely worth it.

We had so much fun doing this ATV adventure! We chose the longest one - 2018 Lava Trail. We started early and staff greeted us at the entrance, filled up the log and had the orientation. Our tour guide was friendly and took lots of photos and videos. Choose this trail if you are in for off-road adventure. It took us over 3hours to finish it. We passed by cemented road, residence area but 80% of the trail is rough. We got really close to the foot of the volcano and the view there was beautiful. It was quiet and relaxing. There's maybe not a lot of people who chose this route on the day we visited.

The Green Lava trail is worth every penny! It was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a long time! Before arriving I wondered if I’d be able to get the hang of driving an ATV, but they were super easy to use! The trail offered so much variety too, from rivers to forest, to roads to lava (!!!). It lasted a long time and yet I still didn’t want the experience to end. The views of Mayon were absolutely spectacular. Definitely worth getting there for the earliest time slots! All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful as well. HUGE shoutout to my guide JC who was the best guide I could ask for! He took tonnes of awesome photos on my phone and didn’t stop looking out for me or smiling the whole time. 11/10 activity - really couldn’t have been better. Thank you all :)

I arrived in Legazpi earlier than expected so I messaged their page asking if I could still make it at 4:30pm. They happily accommodated me and said I could still do the activities :) There was only one other group with me on the zipline, but it was just me at the hamster wheel. Very peaceful and I really liked the solitude. I wasn't expecting to see Mayon since it was raining the whole afternoon and it was cloudy on my way. But lo and behold, she came out just as I was riding down the zipline and running along the hamster wheel. It was really beautiful and I was super lucky. The guides were friendly and helpful with taking photos, which I especially appreciate because I went there on my own. They kept me company as I was just chilling in the wheel hanging above the river. The rides were affordable and fun -- I would've wanted to ride the zipline again if I could! There's also an official photographer who went with me and took photos and you need to pay to have it printed. Would highly recommend this establishment~

Great experience! Visited this place twice(Black Lava and Green Lava. Tour guides were kind especially Vener and Phillip. If you're looking for a medium to extreme trail, Green Lava is worthy to choose.

I highly recommend doing the ATV adventure when you go to Albay! I was scared and hesitant at first but it was an experience that I will never forget. We arrived before 6am before there was a crowd. We had safety orientation then took our helmets and had a quick practice on their grounds with a beautiful view of Mayon! We did the combo trail and it was really fun! Wouldn’t mind doing it again! The guides were helpful and talented in taking photos! Will definitely go back here and recommend this place to my friends!

Stunning views of Mayon. Went there at around 4pm (golden hour) so the view of Mayon and its surroundings is great. Very accommodating staff as well, Irene responded quickly to my queries and we were able to quickly process everything. There's changing room and free use of huge lockers as well. The guides are also quite good photographers. We had fun, but I must warn that the 30min track is quite "bitin", we wanted more time!

St. Gregory the Great Cathedral (Catedral de San Gregorio Magno) is a 19th-century church located in the heart of Legazpi city. The cathedral showcases rich Catholic architecture and features a lovely facade with greenery growing out of its masonry. Adjacent to the cathedral is a small chapel where weekday masses are held, and volunteers are ready to serve church-goers with extra chairs.
One of the churches I never thought I would able to visit. I am very lucky since it's there festival and able to offer mass and talked to the priest who is in the bicol region for 30 years from Italy.

Old church centrally located at the Old Albay District. Currently undergoing renovations (repainting) as of August/September 2024 but appears to still be open to the public. I assume that mass is still conducted regularly.

The priest who celebrated the Holy Mass made our celebration truly amazing! Not to mention how big and beautiful the Church is inside. It is well maintained and kept clean. Sound system is good too. Thank you for this wonderful memory!
Chi K — Google review
Provincial church but less neo-baroque and not overly full with saints and other typical ingredients of Catholicism. Just at the moment we arrived there was a wedding about to start. We thought to stay outside but people asked us to go inside and not feel to be bothering.

Been here 2 weeks ago visited this church near to the hotel I stayed. Very solemn inside, simple and I think it was hundreds of years built because of its structures. Will definitely come back if could pass the exam here. Thank you to the preist assigned when I attended for the first time in this church for the good homily that definitely radiates within my soul. Hope God will continue to bless you with good health and everything for you can touch other souls Fr. Manny. Sorry I forgot your surname. Great experience I had in this church even if its a shirt time. May this church grow and its people.

Very good place for worship. However, some beggars come in and asks for money which sometimes distract you from your the service.
Roberto S — Google review
The Franciscan missionaries established established themselves in this area around 1587. The original wooden structure of the church stood here around 1635 only did it become concrete in 1834. The previous structures were destroyed by fire and war. Today i stands as the seat of the arch diocese and the cathedral of Legazpi. Located in the old district near the plaza and government offices. Beside this area is a fast food chain, milling around this area is save and a good jump off point if your on your way to Cagsawa. #RP

Airport
Bicol International Airport, which opened just two years ago, has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most scenic gateways in the country. With the iconic Mayon Volcano providing a stunning backdrop for arriving flights, visitors are treated to a breathtaking welcome. The airport offers a clean and spacious environment with efficient luggage services and excellent security measures, even at night. Additionally, there are various food options available at reasonable prices.
Bicol International Airport is one of the most efficient airports I've encountered during my frequent travels (about 40 to 45 flights each year). The new airport is impressively clean, and the check-in process was swift. Both the initial security check at the entrance and the subsequent gate security checks were quick and efficient. The same applies to baggage handling - my luggage arrived just 10 minutes after landing. Additionally, Grab operates at the airport, so there's no need to worry about being overcharged by local taxi drivers. Both my incoming and outgoing flights were punctual, which speaks volumes about the airport's management. Bicol International Airport has a relatively low number of arrivals and departures, ensuring a calm and organized atmosphere. In the departure area, there are numerous eateries where you can grab a bite before your flight. While the prices are higher and portions smaller compared to Legazpi itself, it's to be expected at an airport. Overall, a fantastic airport experience. Highly recommended!
World T — Google review
Good decision to have this new airport for Bicol Region. Love the architecture and of course, one of the unbeatable views of Mt. Mayon - the only experience you will have before your flight. We flew to Manila via Philippine Airlines! The departure area also has many dining and shopping options.

Bicol International Airport in Daraga is a small yet modern and well-maintained airport. The interiors are clean and aesthetically pleasing, creating a comfortable atmosphere for travelers. There are plenty of eateries offering good quality food, giving passengers great options while waiting. The facilities are organized, and the overall experience is smooth and pleasant. A great gateway to the Bicol region!
NowHereBlow — Google review
They have a decent-sized lot for overnight parking, which is separate from the short-term parking lot. The overhead gate directions are a bit confusing, since there's a common walkway between arrival and departure passengers, but there are staff that will point you where to go. There are food and souvenir stalls in the departure lounge, as well as neat comfort rooms with a dedicated diaper changing area and a powder area. Comfort rooms are equipped with bidets and sensor-enabled sinks with soap dispensers. There's a kiddie traveller lounge at the far end which is a small playground where the kids can spend time. There's also an automated massage area near the VIP lounge where a 30-minute massage costs P98.
Joeypencil — Google review
Efficient small-size airport. AC works well, clean toilet, free wifi, and sufficient seats are available. Also a good number of food and drink options

I am disappointed on how the Security Guards handle queries from a passenger. These two security guards are inconsiderate! They won’t let me in even for just a query to fix my conflict schedule, they said: “only those passengers with flight for today are allowed to enter” while my flight will be tomorrow, June 1 but with conflict schedule for my other flights going to Davao, they don’t let me in even just to ask the check in counter! How hostile! Poor service! I just visited in Albay just to see Mayon Volcano, but this became a bad experience for tourist. Good thing, the Police Officers helped me access the check in counters for flights rebooking.

Bicol International Airport is a truly model local airport. The environment is exceptionally clean and bright, providing a pleasant travel experience. Their ever helpful staff ensure orderly traffic and smooth processing. With ample parking and efficient operations, BIA is a standout. A must-see and experience—it sets a high standard for regional gateways!
Mocmoc P — Google review
Being an international airport, as per its name, is not yet ready for international flights due to some requirements which are not yet met. It can only accomodate domestic flights. The airport is located at around eight kilometers away from Daraga's urban area and accessible by by hailing a Grab car or any other available means. Food stalls and souvenir shops are numerous inside the airport premises particularly the waiting area.

Also, I would like to commend Mark Jay, who welcome us from the night before our ATV experience upto the next morning before we start the trail, he's positive and happy energy and story gave us the excitement energy I think me and my siblings needs and also the way he welcomes us back and asked how's our experience is very well appreciated and acknowledge. this place is great! you have to find the best angles to take pictures like the pictures that i took. it is breathtaking if you visit this place for the first time ever. don't just waste your trip by just taking one pic and do not wander around the place, and go find the best sight/view in that area. when i took the photos it is around 5:00-6:20 p.m so be patient, if you are lucky to have a camera that's has high quality shot then you are in the right place to take some majestic sunsets. remember its all about angles and time if you wanted to took this pictures. also the weather always check it before going to the mayon skyline. i recommend that you have a service 'cuz the road are challenging to just use a bike so, i suggest you to use a car or a motorcycle to make it to the top within 30 minutes less or more it depends on your speed. hope you understand! this is not my language but i used it do i have any choices btw. but i hope that helps.

Ligñon Hill, located in Ligñon Hill Nature Park, is a 156-meter high peak in Legazpi City offering stunning panoramic views of the valley and the iconic Mayon Volcano. The hill features a nature park with a summit observation deck that provides visitors with a breathtaking 360-degree view, making it an ideal spot to witness both sunrise and sunset.
An elevated formation located near the former Legaspi Airport (now defunct), this is mainly a tourist attraction where one can find traces of an Imperial Japanese tunnel system and at the top, there is a zipline operator which you can try out. I recently hiked up Ligñon Hill Nature Park in Legazpi and was blown away by the sweeping views of Mayon Volcano, Legazpi City, the airport, and Albay Gulf from the summit deck. The paved spiral road up is manageable by foot in about 20–30 minutes, or you can drive if available. On arrival, I strolled through the landscaped promenade, rode the zipline, and checked out the historic Japanese tunnel. The cool breeze and panoramic vistas made everything worth it. Staff were friendly and there were little snack stalls and souvenir shops at the top. Best time to visit is late afternoon sunset paints the volcano and city lights below sparkle as evening falls. Nice spot to hangout/relax and the views around the park are good too. Maintenance of the park needs proper attention.

This is where you go to relax a bit of stay away from the malls modernity. See a few historical showcases like the Liberty Bell which was gifted by the Americans in 1943, the small Spanish canon, and the Jose Penaranda statue which was inaugurated by a member of the Spanish royal family. This place is surrounded by an old church, fast food eateries, and Government offices so it might get busy during weekdays. #RP

Albay Astrodome is a spacious and air-conditioned venue suitable for various events and activities. It offers indoor sports facilities like basketball and volleyball, making it perfect for large gatherings or conventions. The location also provides a great view of the Mayon Volcano from the outside, although there are some obstructions like power lines and buildings. Additionally, it is within walking distance to accommodations and easily accessible.
The Albay Astrodome is a versatile landmark in Legazpi City that serves as a hub for sports, events, and community gatherings. It’s spacious and well-structured, making it a go-to venue for basketball games, concerts, assemblies, and even emergency shelters during calamities. What’s great about the Astrodome is its accessibility—it’s located right in the city and easy to reach from different points in Albay. The place can accommodate a large crowd, and its open design allows for various activities, whether for entertainment, sports, or public service. It may not be the newest facility, but it surely carries significance for the people of Albay, being a place where memories are made—whether through games, concerts, or important events. It is 10/5 for me A functional and meaningful venue that stands as a symbol of community and togetherness in Albay.

Historical landmark
Labanan sa Legazpi Historical Marker is a monument located in the bustling business district, surrounded by malls and intersecting roads. The structure, featuring three sides on a circular base, commemorates the Filipino resistance against American forces in 1900. It stands as a reminder of the historical significance of the area and its role in shaping local heritage.
A three sided structure on top of a circular base, to honor those who fought the Americans during 1900. This is something you pass by as its in the middle of the business district surrounded by malls and a converging point of five roads. The historical significance of the structure was to commemorate the Battle between the American forces under Gen Kobbe (to include naval troops) and Filipinos under the combined command of Col Antero Reyes and Col Pilgone (the former perhished during the battle). The statues on the structures though most of them are wearing "dough boy" helmets which would not be available 45 years down the road during WW 2. #RP

Opened in 1912 by the Benedictine sisters in this site of what once was an all girls school. Got here early in the morning, asked the guards kindly if I can set foot inside the gate to get a better photograph of the main building of the school (pretty pink ribbons, bedecked the gates) , from which they were kind enough to oblige. Got here on a weekend where there was no office, yet this is an institution wherein one should visit for it's history. #RP

Historical landmark
Stilianopulos Building, constructed in 1927 by Greek immigrants, is a bustling hub where visitors can experience the lively atmosphere of early morning shopping. Despite the shops being closed, eager buyers flock to the area to secure early bargains. Parking may be limited along the main road, so it's advisable to arrive early or patiently wait for available spaces on the roadside.
The building built in 1927 from Greek immigrants (read it somewhere). Got here early in the morning where most shops were still closed. Yet buyers were milling around to get the early days catch for bargains. Parking at the main road might be tight so come early or wait for vacant slots at the roadsides.
