My recent visit to this pristine river was nothing short of enchanting, and I can't wait to share my experience. From the moment I set eyes on the glistening waters and the surrounding lush greenery, I was captivated. The tranquility that enveloped the area was a soothing balm for the soul. The sound of the river flowing gently was a constant companion, creating a peaceful ambiance that's hard to find elsewhere. Lidder river originates from Kolhoi Glacier near Sonamarg and gives rise to Lidder Valley. It runs southwards through the alpine meadows of Lidderwat in region of Aru, from which it got its name. It covers 30 kilometres (19 mi) before reaching Pahalgam where it the major tributary of East Lidder from Sheshnag Lake. The Lidder River, located in the picturesque Kashmir Valley of Jammu and Kashmir, India, is a prominent waterway that adds to the natural splendor of the region. Originating from the Kolahoi Glacier at an elevation of 4,653 meters, this mighty river stretches for approximately 73 kilometers. The river has two tributaries-- Lidder East, flowing from Sheshnag Lake, and Lidder West, flowing from Kolahoi glacier. The tributaries merge in a flat and broad stretch next to the town. Nestled amidst the breathtaking Himalayan ranges and situated across the Lidder River, Pahalgam Golf Course is a paradise for avid golfers. This premium golf course is one of the highest in the world, offering stunning views at an elevation of 2400 meters above sea level. Initially established as a 9-hole course, it has now been upgraded to an impressive 18 holes.
Pahalgam has a nine hole golf course at 2400 meters above the sea level. The course is a an expanse of relatively large plain area in a relatively narrow valley. The locals would refer to this Golf course simply as the 'plateau'. There is a golf club on one side of the plateau. Light refreshments, as well equipment and golf caddies could be rented out from there. The flat hill gradually rises up to corn fields, finally into a hill. Portions of the plateau have been occupied by the military in the days of insurgency, leaving it out of bound of normal tourists. The plateau really rises just before the confluence of the two rivers from Aru and Sheshnag. Consequently, a short hike down on the two sides descends into the roads, further on quickly into the rivers. On one side the Deer Park.

A very picturesque place among the oine trees of pahalgam valley. An offbeat spot for gold lovers mad people in general.

Serenity and natural beauty unlimited in this picturesquecourse all contained in the valley, surrounded all around by high and green mountain ranges. The golf course itself is okay and worth admiration only because of the altitude at which it is licated. Fairways can be better, and the greens are good, true and challenging. At this time of the year with so much rains, the greens keeper is doing a good job at keeping the greens in play. That they are slow is understandable. Enjoy the views and the walk.

"The golf course of Pahalgam is located at an elevation of 2400 metres above the sea level, amidst snow-capped mountains and dense pine forestations. Pahalgam Golf Course covers a wide expanse of elevated and plain area in the narrow valley, which is why locals often refer to it as a plateau. The plateau rises near the spot where the two rivers from Sheshnag and Aru meet. Initially established as a 9-hole golf course, the Pahalgam Golf Course has now been upgraded to an 18-hole golf course. The state government and hoteliers host several championships in the sprawling green premises of this high altitude golf ground. A golf club lies on one side of this course, from where visitors can rent golf caddies and equipment. Visitors coming to this place can play this interesting game, for which the club charges fees at an hourly basis. They can also visit the deer park, located on one end of this famous golf course."

Mamaleshwar Temple, located in the scenic landscapes of Pahalgam, is a revered sanctuary dedicated to Lord Shiva. This ancient temple, dating back to 400 CE, was built by King Jayasima entirely from rocks. Nestled at an altitude of 2,286 meters and situated near the banks of river Lidder, it exudes tranquility and spirituality.
It is an old Shiva Temple in Pahalgam. A huge shivlinga and a Dwimukhi (Bi-Headed) Nandi idol are present here. You can reach this place by foot or by taking a short trek. Do visit here if you are in Pahalgam to spend some quality time.

Mamaleshwar Temple Pahalgam is one thousand years old. The temple is under Archeological Department to protect ancient monuments. Small temple of Lord Shiva on the bank of river lidder. A stream flowing in front of the temple through a square pond.

The Temple of Mamal (Ancient Mamalaka) is a historic site. Inside, it houses an old pedestal and a Shiva Linga. The temple features a porch supported by two columns and is externally covered with thick lime plaster. Historically, it might be the same temple mentioned in texts as having been adorned with a golden kalasa by King Jayasiknba. A notable feature is the crystal-clear spring that rises right in front of the stairs.

It is just a lovely place to visit and relax! The pool in front of the temple is crystal clear - you have to see it to believe it! Have posted a picture of the relevance of this place, which was available at the site. There is hardly any crowd - not sure many people know about this place at all. It is quick diversion from the main road - not even 5 minutes. Please do plan to take detour and visit this place. You also get great views from up here of the valley - as it is a quick climb. The temple and the vicinity is maintained very well and there are benches to just relax. Captured few pictures of the flowers which were there. Very peaceful place to be ❤️

Jai Baba ki🙏 Kaivalya Upanishad, a part of the Vedas, says that Lord Shiva is the Supreme God; or at least it prescribes meditating upon Lord Shiva as such, which may not be quite the same thing. “Without beginning, middle, or end, who is One, all-pervading, of blissful consciousness, without form, wonderful, seated with Goddess Uma, the Supreme Lord, the Ruler, with three eyes, with a blue neck, ever peaceful - by meditating upon Him the sages attain the Source of all creation, the witness of all, That which is beyond all darkness.”

Mamaleshwar Temple is a Hindu temple located in Pahalgam town in Kashmir Valley. It is situated on the banks of Lidder River at an elevation of 2,200 metres (7,200 ft). According to legend, this is the temple where Ganesha was placed as door keeper by Parvati, not allowing anyone to enter the premises without her permission. This is the place where Shiva cut the head of Ganesha and gave him an elephant head. Mam Mal means don't go, and thus it is also known as Mammal temple. It is in the heart of Phelgram and can be reached by walk in 10 minutes. There is a small water tank right in front of the temple in which water comes from the bottom. If you observe for 2 minutes you will be able to see air bubbles coming from the bottom. Neatly maintained environment one must visit.

The lush green meadow is adorned with alpine flowers and offers horseback rides and trekking routes for visitors to explore its serene ambiance. It's best visited after the rainy season when the valley turns green, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers seeking tranquility.
Pahalgam Baisaran Valley scenic natural trekking amidst forest trees valley stream rocks mountain up and down path meadows on a horse is life time thrilling experience for tourists. The top valley amidst snow clad mountains is like heaven on earth. Also called mini Switzerland is really a place of wonderful scenes. Many activities are there. The place is privatised for maintenance and they charge a reasonable rate from tourists. Must visit place.
Gunasekaran S — Google review
The valley is good but very unorganised management. Reason behind 1 star - 1. No proper government display of pricing of Pony / Horse ride. 2. The horse ride is very risky, especially for elders children, many were crying & frightened. The path was difficult, muddy, steep at certain areas. No safety gear or training given 3. People are helpful but very hungry for tips 4. There should be safety guidelines, interference of Government officials is a must to avoid fatalities & confused / unhappy tourists I request those responsible to please take necessary measures so that we, as tourists are safe & happy.

Baisaran is a stunning meadow surrounded by dense pine forests and snow-capped mountains, offering a peaceful and scenic escape from the hustle of city life. The lush green landscape, fresh air, and panoramic views make it a perfect spot for nature lovers, trekkers, and photographers. You can reach Baisaran via a short trek or a pony ride from Pahalgam. An absolute must-visit for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty!
Neel ( — Google review
Baesaran Valley is a not that great, but getting there can be a bit challenging. We booked a pony ride for ₹1,500 per person, which is the main way to reach the valley. However, visitors with infants or old age should avoid it, as the ponies don’t take the regular paths. Instead, they take steep shortcuts through mountains and rivers with large rocks, making the ride quite bumpy and difficult to manage, especially with kids which will be very DANGEROUS. And this you’ll realise once you’re mid way and pony riders will refuse to take you back as they need full payment from you. Boots are compulsory, and they are definitely needed once you reach the spot. Upon arrival, there is an entry fee of ₹35 per person. Inside, you’ll find a few activities and food stalls, though the options are limited. The valley itself is beautiful, with lush green meadows and stunning mountain views, making it a great spot for photography and relaxation. The only downside was the rough pony ride and the aggressive bargaining by pony operators. Despite that, the overall experience was worth it for the scenic beauty. If you’re visiting Pahalgam, Baesaran is definitely worth seeing—just be prepared for the adventurous journey!

Chandanwari Skiing Area is a beautiful place to visit, located about 30 minutes uphill from Betaab Valley. The road offers stunning scenery along the way, and even in May, visitors can see glaciers and snow. Activities like skiing and sledging are available, making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. Private vehicles are not allowed; only union taxis can access the area. Chandanwari is also the starting point for the trek to Amarnath yatra.
Beautiful place to visit Almost 30 minutes hilly climb from betaab valley but the road is worth going. Beautiful scenery uphill on the way. At the top we happen to see glacier and snow even in May first week. We could do skiing n sledge ride. Kids enjoyed snow. Cost to visit Chandanwari in Innova is 1800 rs If you combine ABC valley together I.e. Aru valley, betaab Valley and Chandanwari the taxi stand Innova will cost you 2800 rs. Private vehicles are not allowed, only union taxi can go. Place not to miss This is starting point of amaranth yatra

Chandanwari located in Pahelgam appeared to me the most beautiful place in my Kashmir trip in April 2025. All along our way, Lidder river guided us, charmed us with its cascading flows. The whites in the mountains, though white speaks for silence, it invoked the joy sparkled within our hearts. Chandanwari comes in ABC touring plan of Pahelgam and according th this plan we get only 1 hr to enjoy in Chandanwari. But I personally think, one shud get more time to enjoy at this place. Here we got snow from the base of the mountains. We enjoyed ourselves like a kid, bouncing, slipping , climbing over the snow. বলতে গেলে ব্যাপারটা পুরো সিনেমার মতো লাগছিল । The breathtaking view surrounding us give us the perfect place for picture perfect. Parachute cloth pullovers and gumboots are recommended. There are shops nearby but price was higher

This place is in Pahalgam. It is 30 kms from Pahalgam city at the height. U find good snow in month of may also. Main entrance to to Amarnath start from this place only. Good road is there. All vehicle goes till the snow point. Don’t go to mini Switzerland in Pahalgam on horse- it is the only means- but way is unsafe and dangerous- cost is also more 3000Rs per person. You can see Aru valley and Beetab valley in Pahalgam. Beetab valley has garden- play items for kids- entrance ticket is 100 Rs for adults and 50Rs for kids. You need at-least 2 hours in this area. One old shiv mandir is also there- plz visit - good place - it is near bus stand- walkable distance. Good quality saree, shawl can be taken from this place- but bargain for 40-50% less Good quality dry fruits also available in this area. It is safe place for family and kids- hotels are also good. Veg food is available in this area. One river flows in this area- it is very good at the shore of this river to spend time. Very cold water as it is melted ice only.

We visited in April, 2022. There was enough ice, for sledging, dry fruits available here were nice.. push selling of shawls, sledging, etc is a huge problem!! Luckily our cab driver was very nice to warn us from beforehand!! Apparently the sellers have some kind of a cue, and they were selling after 4-5days. We were forced to keep moving. It's because of the push selling that our Kashmir tour was not as relaxing, despite the breathtaking views, air, and food. Also, everywhere in Kashmir you need local cars to tour. Srinagar car does not tour with you in Pahalgam, or Sonamarg, or Gulmarg! This is an utter mess- and a very ill-planned move by the cab unions! Because of this and the push selling, i rate Kashmir tourism 3/10stars! 😔

Place is very pretty , ice was present even in April (visited in april 2022). There are sledges available , the place is scenic and pretty . Dey fruits , pani puri, coffe really available here. It's the starting point for the trek to Amarnath yatra. The place is very scenic and if u r a ice person , can play in the ice. 🥶. The beautiful and gentle lidder river flows across the valley adding to its beauty. Overall it's very beautiful , even prettier than aru valley i feel. However u need to take a taxi to reach aru , betab and chandanwari. U will get a taxi from the taxi stand. Start early and get the cab as per the rates written. Since our planned cabbie scammed us...we had to wait for a cab which did not turn up. We walked till the taxi stand and got an Omni. He charged us 2100( which was the rate for an innova) and did not even give us time to go down to betab valley which i feel was cheating. In the end he even asked for a tip. So beware there with taxi guys and pony guys and oh hotel guys too maybe taking you for a ride about taxi and pony rates to various places .

I am not ice person nor is my family. So not recommending it to senior citizens, and youngsters who don't like to play ice games. There are no fixed rates for rental gumboot, and other snow gear. So you end up wasting time in negotiations.

Nestled near Pahalgam, Baisaran Valley is often dubbed the "Mini Switzerland of Kashmir," and for good reason. This enchanting hilltop meadow boasts breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains and lush green landscapes framed by towering pine forests. It's a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering a plethora of outdoor activities such as horseback riding and hiking through its picturesque terrain. The fresh mountain air combined with stunning vistas makes it an ideal retreat from the chaos of urban life.
Mini Switzerland, Kashmir – A Mesmerizing March Getaway Visiting Mini Switzerland (Yousmarg) in Kashmir during March was an absolutely breathtaking experience. The landscape was a perfect blend of snow-capped peaks and lush meadows slowly coming to life as winter transitioned into spring. The cool, crisp air and serene surroundings made it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle. The views were nothing short of magical, with tall pine trees, rolling green pastures, and the distant sight of snow-covered mountains creating a postcard-perfect scene. The place wasn’t overcrowded, allowing for a peaceful and immersive experience in nature. Whether you’re looking for adventure, a scenic picnic spot, or simply a moment of tranquility, Mini Switzerland in March offers it all. The beauty, fresh mountain air, and calmness make it a must-visit destination in Kashmir!

Baisaran, Pahalgam – The Mini Switzerland of Kashmir! Baisaran in Pahalgam is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Often called the “Mini Switzerland of Kashmir,” this valley is surrounded by tall pine forests, rolling green meadows, and snow-capped mountains that look straight out of a postcard. The journey to Baisaran itself is an experience—most people go by horse ride, and the ride through the forest trails feels adventurous and exciting. When you reach the top, the open green field with panoramic mountain views instantly takes your breath away. It’s peaceful, fresh, and unbelievably scenic. It’s the perfect place to relax, take photos, or just enjoy nature. The air is pure, the scenery is calming, and every corner looks like a perfect photography spot. Tips: • Horse riding is the main way to reach Baisaran—negotiate the price • Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes • Morning or afternoon visits offer the best weather and views • Take snacks or water since shops are limited at the top

Market
Pahalgam Market, particularly the Mini Market, is a charming shopping destination tucked away in a narrow lane just 500 meters from the main market. This quaint spot specializes in Pashmina shawls and carpets but truly shines with its array of affordable jewelry and handicrafts. Visitors can discover intricate Kashmiri jewelry, unique wooden artifacts, and delightful souvenirs that capture the essence of their Pahalgam experience.
What a beautiful place to visit! Lush-green mountains on one side, and mountain range in front of the market. Lovely park as well in the market. Market prices are okayish, but you should bargain well. Definitely worth visiting, don't think will get enough of it. If you're planning for sightseeing, book taxi from Tourist taxi stand only, not from hotels as their "fixed charges" are higher than charges here.

This is my first review on the market, we have just now come back from the market late evening as it started to dribble a bit. It’s along the stretch of main road and has a very happening vibe to it. Nice lighting and shops. The sidewalk provides good commute on foot. Some very modern cafes and restaurants. Would personally recommend cafe log inn 🏨.

Pahalgam Market offers a charming, albeit often compact, shopping experience amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Kashmir Valley. While it may not boast the sheer variety of a metropolitan city, it's a treasure trove for authentic Kashmiri goods and a delightful place to soak in the local culture. Here's a review of Pahalgam Market: Overall Experience: Pahalgam Market is the bustling heart of this picturesque town. It's a place where visitors can truly connect with the local craftsmanship and take home a piece of Kashmir. The market is generally lively, especially during peak tourist season, with vendors showcasing their wares. While it's primarily geared towards tourists, you'll also find daily necessities for locals. What to Buy: The market is renowned for its traditional Kashmiri products. Here are some of the popular items you can find: * Pashmina Shawls and Stoles: This is perhaps the most sought-after item. You'll find a wide range of handwoven Pashmina shawls, stoles, and scarves in various designs, colors, and levels of embroidery. Be prepared to differentiate between genuine Pashmina and blends, and don't hesitate to bargain. * Kashmiri Carpets: Intricately designed and hand-knotted, Kashmiri carpets, made from silk or wool, are a significant draw. They are often exquisite but can be quite expensive. * Embroidered Garments: Look for beautifully embroidered jackets, phirans (traditional Kashmiri cloaks), and other garments. These can be both traditional and contemporary in style. * Wooden Handicrafts: Pahalgam is known for its exquisite walnut wood products. You'll find carved wooden boxes, bowls, decorative items, and even furniture pieces. * Papier-mâché Products: These colorful and artistic items, made from paper and adhesive, come in various shapes and forms, making for unique souvenirs. * Dry Fruits and Spices: Kashmir is famous for its dry fruits like walnuts, almonds, and apricots. You can also find high-quality local spices, especially the prized Kashmiri saffron, often referred to as "Red Gold." * Kashmiri Honey: Pure and organic honey harvested from the valley is another popular item. * Traditional Jewelry: You might find some interesting traditional Kashmiri jewelry pieces. * Winter Wear: Given Pahalgam's climate, you'll also find shops selling woolens, sweaters, jackets, and caps, especially useful if you're visiting in cooler months. Shopping Tips: * Bargaining: Bargaining is a common practice in the local markets, especially with street vendors. However, established shops may have fixed prices. It's always a good idea to politely negotiate for the best deals. * Authenticity: Be mindful of the authenticity of products, especially Pashmina and saffron, as imitations can be found. It's often recommended to purchase from reputable shops or government-run emporiums like the Pahalgam Government Arts Emporium for genuine products. * Explore: Take your time to stroll through the market and explore different shops. You might discover unique items off the main thoroughfare. * Local Delights: Don't miss out on local bakeries like Naveed Bakery for freshly baked goods and traditional Kashmiri bread, or cafes like Café Log Inn for a Kashmiri Kahwa and some unique handmade items. Things to Consider: * Variety: While rich in Kashmiri specialties, the overall variety might be less compared to larger cities like Srinagar. If you're looking for a wider range of modern goods, you might be better off shopping elsewhere. * Pace: The market is generally laid-back, reflecting the relaxed pace of Pahalgam itself. Pahalgam Market offers a charming and culturally rich shopping experience. It's the perfect place to find authentic Kashmiri handicrafts, textiles, and local produce, allowing you to take a piece of this beautiful region home with you. Embrace the opportunity to engage with local vendors and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere.

Pahalgam, Kashmir is nothing short of a dream. Nestled in the heart of the Lidder Valley, this beautiful town feels like a piece of heaven on Earth. From the moment you enter, the cool breeze, the sound of the river, and the sight of endless pine forests instantly calm your soul. The people are warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile or a cup of kehwa (Kashmiri tea). The journey to places like Aru Valley and Betaab Valley is breathtaking — green meadows, snow-capped mountains, and horses trotting along peaceful trails. It’s a perfect escape for nature lovers, families, or couples looking for peace and beauty. Local food is a treat — simple yet full of flavor. Don’t miss trying a traditional wazwan meal or grilled corn sold by the roadside. What truly sets Pahalgam apart is its stillness. Even with tourists around, it never feels crowded. It’s a place where time slows down and you can truly breathe. Whether it’s watching the sun rise over the hills or hearing the river rush by your side, Pahalgam isn’t just a place — it’s a feeling that stays with you long after you leave.
JUNAID K — Google review
I visited the market at evening in March end and then did some shopping of Shwal but you should consider lal Chawk market in Srinagar for best shopping experience at cheap prices. We visited the bakery named prince bakery at a small street in Pahalgam Market they were selling fresh coconut cookies. Those cookies were tempting, fresh and crunchy on the outside and chewy in the centre like I can literally taste coconut at the centre of the cookie.I also tried chocolate Cookies which were good but my favourite was coconut cookies. 30 rupees per cookie. Dana pani restaurant is also popular but didn't get a seat because of the rush at evening hours.
Siddhi C — Google review
The evening stroll through Pahalgam Market is truly magical. Being one of the oldest and most vibrant markets in the region, it is always buzzing with activity — from local handicrafts to food stalls, the energy is unmatched. However, the growing overcrowding has become a concern. To enhance the experience for tourists and locals alike, the administration should consider converting Pahalgam Market into a pedestrian-only zone, similar to Srinagar's Poloview Market. Diverting vehicular traffic elsewhere would not only reduce congestion but also make the market more enjoyable, safe, and environment-friendly. Such an initiative would preserve the charm of the market while making the overall experience richer for everyone who visits.

If you are making Sri Amarnath Darshan Yatra and you resolved to start your yatra from Chandawadi, then you have to come and stay one night here. This place is called Nunwan Base camp. This is an amazing place just beside the river Lidder. Great natural atmosphere with a pleasant temperature in July. Tent, bathroom, latrine, hot water and all facilities available here. You also find a market to buy your essential things. You can buy everything from sunglasses to winter jackets. The whole area is fully guarded by the military jawans. A good place to stay and visit. For Amarnath Yatri, foods are free from Bhandara. This place is only open for Amarnath Yatri.

I must say, this camp is truly situated in a very safe area, which brings a sense of peace and comfort. The variety of tents available here is quite impressive, making it a unique experience for campers. It's refreshing to see that they stick to the essence of camping by offering only tents and not other luxury rooms, allowing visitors to connect with nature. However, it's a bit disheartening to hear that the maintenance of basic facilities like toilets and bathrooms is lacking. But I'm hopeful that with some improvements, they can provide a better experience in this regard. As for the post office, it's intriguing that it exists within the camp, but I wonder why it's never open. Perhaps some attention to operational hours would be beneficial. On the bright side, the camp seems to have a well-established hospital facility, which is crucial for any emergency situations that might arise. And to top it all off, the outstanding military security instills a strong sense of safety and protection. Overall, with a little more effort in maintaining the basic facilities and addressing the operational issues, this camp has the potential to become as exceptional as the one in Chanderkote, Ramban base camp. A little improvement can go a long way in providing campers with a memorable and fulfilling experience amidst the serene and secure environment.

The weather was pleasant but the Sun was warm but healthy. Just a few minutes walk from the baggage check pin to the main pathway to enter Pahalgam or Nunwan Base Camp. First you may notice the presence of the Police centre to the Medical centre inside the base is available for any kind of enquiry or emergency situation for the Yatri. Then , you will come up to individuals sitting with tables along with the garden umbrellas for tent booking service. Booking was completed within a minute after addressing various typical characters along the queue. There will be one person for every ticket to show the correctly booked tent inside the vast boundary. I laid down my personals inside the tent and went for a bath . The bathrooms are well organised as they have segregated three main functions like bathing, urination and excretion into separate rooms including appropriate spaces for Gents and Ladies. Hot water is also available on a paid basis and basins with mirrors were also present so shaving a beard was possible. Now, it is time to keep my stomach healthy so "Bhandara" or "Langars" were there for every meal on a day and that too for free of cost but if you like to donate anything for any cause you may do without giving any reason to anybody. Presently, all the eateries were placed near the exit of the Pahalgam Base. Shopping was also necessary as many find difficulties to find the best possible needs for the completion of the Yatra so you will have many shopping counters while walking towards Langars i.e. waist bags, socks, shoes, mineral water, sacks, warm clothes, electronic goods, etc. During the day, the tents were warm but at night I required a blanket. Bathing will always make you feel good and warm. Better to avoid cold beverages or chilled water as the temperature will vary drastically throughout the Yatra. A drinking water facility is also available and free of cost near the entry of the clusters(tents). Entry and exit from the base camp is not an issue but do care about your belongings before reaching out of the Base. There are numerous activities waiting outside the gate for you and help yourself in finding things in Pahalgam with the help of Google and its map. Thank you and strictly no smoking zone inside the Base. 🙏

River rafting in Pahalgam, particularly on the Lidder River, is a thrilling experience for both beginners and experts. The river offers various grades of rapids, surrounded by stunning views of forests and snow-capped peaks. It's an exhilarating break from regular sightseeing activities and attracts adventure seekers looking for an adrenaline rush. Navigating through the gushing waters while being encompassed by towering mountains and lush greenery creates an unforgettable experience.
White river rafting in Pahalgam offers an exhilarating adventure amidst the stunning landscapes of the Kashmir Valley. The Lidder River, with its pristine waters flowing from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, provides the perfect setting for this adrenaline-pumping activity. The rafting experience in Pahalgam typically begins at the rafting base camp, where participants receive safety instructions and are equipped with the necessary gear, including helmets and life jackets. The rafting route covers thrilling rapids, ranging from Class I to Class IV, offering excitement for both beginners and experienced rafters. As participants navigate through the rapids, they are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, dense forests, and picturesque meadows. The gushing waters of the Lidder River provide an exhilarating ride, with plenty of opportunities for adrenaline-fueled moments and memorable experiences.

The river-rafting by J&K tourism. They charged rs.660 per head for about 2 km. Not so thrilled cause the river is following in the flat surfaces 😕. When compared to Rishikesh this rafting experience was ok ok. If you want video and pics they charge separately. In the end point, there is a room for changing clothes but it was not clean and no shower too.
Lakshmi S — Google review
In August end, the river rafting experience here is fairly calm and lacks significant rapids, making it more suitable for a leisurely float of 2KM than an adventure. The flat river means minimal excitement for thrill-seekers. The cost is **660 INR per person**, with an additional **500 INR for group videography**,( bargain large here) which may not capture much action due to the gentle nature of the river. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxed, scenic float rather than a high-energy rafting experience, this trip could be enjoyable. However, for those seeking intense rapids, it may fall short of expectations.
Pankaj G — Google review
Difficulty level: Easy Distance: 2.8kms Best time is in the morning, less crowd. In summer, before 12 noon it is hot. Tip: The photography/videos are charged separately and are bit pricey considering the quality. Video quality is bad, photos are sometimes out-of-focus.

Zabardast adventure- only for daredevil fans. White water rafting in Pahalgam is an adventurous yet dangerous game to play. Thanks to the security measures that are in place which makes it safe. Once you are in the raft you are wholly on yourself. So be confident and enjoy your ride on the white waters of river lidder. Along the river you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the shores as well.
Sajad N — Google review
Experience was fun as it was our first time. The charges were 660 per person and they also provide full video recording by GoPro if you pay 1800 extra. We said not as it is a lot of 3 kms ride. Anyways they don’t allow you to carry a mobile but I carried it anyway on my risk and was able to click a few pictures and some videos. The ride will take 5-10 mins to reach from Point 1 to Point 2 and it is the end at Point 2. There will be 2 persons paddling the boat so you just have to sit and enjoy the ride. They have a Men and Female separate changing room so you can carry clothes to change but unfortunately no shower area.
Abhishek C — Google review
To do rafting the ticket is RS 660 and the stretches around 2 km and it will take 20 minutes to complete the rafting. Clothes might get wet. Camera and shoes are not allowed you will and your journey near lavender park. Team running the raft are well trained even my senior citizen mother could sit in it without any trouble. Optional recording of the rafting is available for extra charge.
Amanpreet S — Google review
Best river rafting spot for adventure lovers. Visitors of pahalgam must not miss this place. We had wonderful river rafting experience in this place. This rafting is around 2km in the river. Chillness of water is equivalent to ice.

Sheshnag, located at an altitude of 3,574 meters, is a mountain lake that serves as a crucial stop on the way to the Amarnath cave. It is about 11 kilometers from Chandanwari and 13 kilometers from Panchtarni. The annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage to the holy cave begins from Sheshnag Base Camp in Jammu and Kashmir.
In mythology it is said that Lord Shiva left his beloved Snake at this place. A beautiful lake you can see looks like the head of a snake. It is a beautiful place and popular halting point during Amarnath Yatra. It is 12 km distance from Chandrawanshi starting point. Lots of tent available for overnight staying.

Amazing place, just WOW. It is on the route of Amarnath yatra from Pahelgam. It is the souce of the river Leedar which runs through Kashmir. It is beleived that Lord Shiba left his Nag in here and occasionally the nag is visible by many pilgrims. The entire area is just awesome.
Shyamalendu D — Google review
The most beautiful alpine lake in the valley I have ever seen. Not everyone can enjoy visiting this place because there is no transport facility to travel. You will have to travel 5 kilometers from pahalgam to recah chandanwadi by vehicle. Then you will have to start your journey with enough food and water for at least 5 hours. After climbing 3.5 kilometers track you will recah Pisu top. From Pisu top you will have to travel for 3 hours to reach sheshnag. The whole journey from Pisu top will encourage you by its natural beauty towards the lake. Before traveling to this place make sure you are physically fit as this journey can be challenging sometimes. You must take some extra, waterproof cloths and umbrella with you as there is no shelter in case it rains during the journey. Take some medicine with you because there is no shop. The shoes must be strong enough as there are edged stones on the way. It's better have the first aid kit with you. More importantly don't travel alone to this place there is no security as well.

Probably the only lake that enchants the hikers both in summer and in winters. It will soothe your mind with its blue turquoise color in summers and with its greenish frozen floor in winters.

"Sheshnag Base Camp" can refer to a specific location in the Himalayan region. Sheshnag Base Camp is a starting point or a campsite for trekkers and pilgrims who embark on the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The Amarnath Yatra is a significant Hindu pilgrimage that takes devotees to the holy Amarnath Cave, which is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The cave is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,888 meters (12,756 feet) in the Himalayas. The pilgrimage usually takes place during the summer months, between July and August, and attracts thousands of devotees. Sheshnag Base Camp is one of the designated campsites along the traditional route of the Amarnath Yatra. It is located at an elevation of around 3,720 meters (12,205 feet) and serves as a resting point for pilgrims. From Sheshnag Base Camp, pilgrims continue their journey towards the Amarnath Cave, passing through other designated campsites like Panchtarni before reaching their destination. The base camp provides basic facilities such as tents, medical aid, and food for the pilgrims. It is named after Sheshnag, the divine serpent, as per the Hindu mythology associated with Lord Shiva. The campsite is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and snow-capped mountains, offering a serene and awe-inspiring environment for the pilgrims. It's important to note that specific details about the Amarnath Yatra, including the starting point and campsites, can vary from year to year, depending on the arrangements made by the authorities. Therefore, it's advisable to consult the official channels and sources for the most up-to-date information if you are planning to undertake the Amarnath Yatra or visit the Sheshnag Base Camp.

Hajan Valley, also known as Hagan Valley or Hagoon, is a serene and picturesque destination in Kashmir that has been featured in several Bollywood movies. Surrounded by lush meadows, majestic mountains, and the Lidder River, it offers a perfect setting for picnics and leisurely strolls. Visitors can explore nearby attractions like Betaab Valley, Chandanwadi, Aru Valley, and the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra.
Also called Betab Valley in Pahalgam is a delightful destination that beautifully encapsulates the charm of Kashmir. Famously known as the shooting location for the Bollywood movie *Betab*, the valley offers stunning panoramic views with majestic mountains surrounding you in every direction. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities here, including thrilling adventures like zip-lining. A serene river flows through the valley, adding to its tranquil ambiance. Pony rides that traverse the river provide a unique way to explore the area, while scenic spots throughout the valley make it a paradise for photography enthusiasts. What’s even better is that Betab Valley is easily accessible by cab, so you can experience its beauty without the need for pony rides. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or picturesque landscapes, Beta Valley is a wonderful place to explore.

A breathtakingly beautiful valley! Betaab Valley in Pahalgam is a stunning destination, surrounded by lush green meadows, majestic mountains, and a serene river. The valley's picturesque landscape, tranquil atmosphere, and trekking opportunities make it a nature lover's paradise. However, the absence of hygienic toilets is a major drawback. Visitors must be prepared for basic, unclean facilities. Despite this, the valley's sheer beauty and charm make it a must-visit. Come prepared, and you'll leave with unforgettable memories!"

A Slice of Heaven on Earth – Betaab Valley, Pahalgam Betaab Valley, also known as Hajan Valley, is truly one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. Nestled between the snow-capped mountains and lush pine forests, this valley is a perfect blend of natural beauty, serenity, and cinematic charm. It's no wonder it was named after the Bollywood film Betaab that was shot here. The crystal-clear Lidder River flowing through the valley adds a magical touch to the already stunning landscape. The green meadows, surrounded by majestic Himalayan peaks, create a picture-perfect view that feels straight out of a fairy tale. Whether you're a nature lover, photography enthusiast, or simply looking for peace, this place will not disappoint. There are plenty of open spaces for children to play, couples to relax, and families to picnic. Horse riding and traditional Kashmiri attire photoshoots add a fun and cultural vibe to the visit. Accessibility is good, and the area is well-maintained by local authorities. The fresh air, the sound of the flowing river, and the panoramic views make it an unforgettable experience. A must-visit spot if you are in or around Pahalgam!
Jitendra P — Google review
Barwalla Waterfall is a visually striking spot located near the Summal Power Grid in Kangan. However, it's important to understand that this is not a natural waterfall—it is actually the overflow from the power grid, which can be extremely dangerous. The area has witnessed sudden surges of water, especially during peak flow or rainfall, and people have been trapped in the waterfall zone during such incidents. Despite its beauty, entering the waterfall or trying to get too close is strongly discouraged. There are no safety sirens or barriers in place, so awareness and caution are crucial. Heroism or thrill-seeking can be fatal here. The water current can intensify without warning, making it extremely unsafe. The best and safest view is from the opposite side of the waterfall, where you can enjoy the full scenery without putting yourself at risk. It’s a good spot for photography or a quiet nature break—just from a safe distance. Pros: Beautiful and peaceful surroundings Less crowded; good for photography from afar Cons: Man-made overflow, not a natural waterfall Dangerous to approach; no safety systems in place Tips: Stay on the safe side of the waterfall Do not enter the water or get too close Visit with caution and never alone Verdict: A scenic spot best enjoyed from a distance. Respect the power of the water and prioritize safety.

The lush greenery in summer and the snow blanket in winter make it a must-visit spot in every season.
