Had the famous Linzer torte here & the best part is it has vegan version too!! It’s a bit dry so pairing it with coffee / hot chocolate was a good idea! The interior of the cafe is adorned with beautiful paintings. It has 3 sections -sweet, piquant & café . The sweet section had a beautiful display of many cakes, pasteries & cookies which unfortunately we could not taste as they all had eggs in them . If u r a foodie n like to try local cuisine u can give it a shot.

Tried the famous Linzer Torte here. It was delicious with a hint of tartness. The selection of desserts and chocolate truffles is impressive. A cosy location with friendly staff. A must visit when in Linz!

The stuff is unfriendly. The do NOT except the european vacination card. Only the PCR test. Not even an antigen test. Even if you sit outside. I would never advise it to anyone, or come here again. Cafes in the Inner Stadt are accepting the card, and even crowded McDonalds.

The stunning views and classy dining room are phenomenal. The food is some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The fried Sturgeon and risotto, there are no words to describe how wonderful. My wife had the chicken that was equally fabulous. Staff gave excellent recommendations on wine pairings. The host was so kind And made us feel welcome. If we ever return to Linz this will be our first stop. Definitely worth the trip.

We wereTraveling with a party of 4 in the city of Linz Austria .From the town square we looked up the mountain and saw a beautiful restaurant.We took the number 50 tram up the mountain and found the Schlossal Brau restaurant We were cordially invited inside and seated in a table with a gorgeous view of the Alps. Sofia our server was so unexpectedly courteous who then explained the menu and offered some suggestions all of which were fabulous We left the restaurant extremely satisfied and would certainly return

Amazing, breathtaking view, professional and very kind staff, even the manager came to ask if everything is alright. Inside is classic austrian castle, it was an honour to be there and look around. Food is great sort and quality.

This was a very pleasant experience, I don’t give out 5 stars normally but the food service and atmosphere were will worth of a Michelin star in this case, we had a wonderful time the view is stunning, the Kalb Steak and the Stör fillet was done to perfection, I can’t think of any reason you shouldn’t try this place if you’re visiting Linz.

I was there yesterday, I ordered truffle noodles and it was horrible. They just mixed noodles with cream and some small pieces of truffle. It was the most horrible food I have ever tried. The quality was low, and the price was very high. Doesn’t deserve.

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Unwelcoming Attitude I had a very disappointing experience at this cafe. The staff were neither polite nor helpful. I requested a wooden armless chair to sit outside because it was too hot inside, and I can’t use chairs with arms. However, the waitress responded curtly, saying, “This chair is for inside, you have to sit inside,” in a very dismissive tone. After finally sitting down, we waited a long time without any staff acknowledging us. Three waiters walked by multiple times without even glancing in our direction. Eventually, one waiter did stop to take our order, but his attitude was rude and arrogant. When I expressed my frustration about the chair issue and the long wait, he simply walked away without responding — which was incredibly disrespectful. We left the restaurant immediately after that. I would not recommend this place, especially to tourists. It seemed like the staff only cared about their local regulars, as they were happily chatting and smiling with people they appeared to know, while ignoring new customers like us.

This cafe is in Linz 5 star for applestrudel desert . They do serve cold and hot applestrudel .Hot is served with bit of vanilla sauce and a bit of berries as decorations. The garden is beautiful and overlooks at some beautiful buildings APPLESTRUDEL IS the only reason I go there . You must try the hot one Other than that I find the cafe pricy

Passing by Linz, Austria on vacation,we stopped at Cafe Traxlmayr for their historic Linzer Torte. We were ignored by 3 surly waitstaff until even they could not ignore us any longer. The Torte was pretty good, yet they only provided utensils for 2 instead of the four of us.. (Even though we asked twice, in 2 different languages). They would not bring us coffee for all of us. Finally, we left without finishing. Seriously, we felt like we had entered the Twilight Zone. In all fairness, some locals seemed happily engaged but this is not welcoming for tourists. Tourists, be warned. Keep on driving. Avoid this establishment at all cost. One star is too generous.

Just loved this place. Traditional, Viennese -style café. In fact we liked it so much, we visited three times in one day: coffee, lunch and afternoon tea/coffee.

Café Traxlmyr in Linz, Austria may have a long history and charming setting, but unfortunately, the experience was far from good. We ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, and the taste was unpleasant — almost burnt and far too hot to enjoy. The hot chocolate was equally disappointing, with barely any flavor, just a weak mix of milk and sugar, and a pale color that didn’t look appetizing. The only positive note was the bread with cold cuts, which was fresh and quite good. Still, the overall impression is that the café doesn’t put much care into the quality of their drinks or the customer experience. Considering its heritage, this was a big letdown.

The initial plan was the Little Dancer, but we didn't manage to get a table. Next time, I'll know better and make a reservation. So, spontaneously to Traxlmayr and thank the nice weather, sitting on the terasse was available. Real nice breakfast options and good coffee. I really liked the hummus. Friendly service also, despite the fact that the place was almost full. I recommended it.

Exceptional place! Great, cozy atmosphere, excellent selection of beers and an impressive view of downtown Linz across the Danube. We invaded the place with a group of 10 people late on a weekend night, and it was a perfect place to be.

Best place in Linz for a refreshing drink or delicious toasts, or both. Food is great and home made. Best view of the river on the upper deck. A little rusted old ship, but that's the charm about it. At times it's very busy and self service makes it a bit hectic, but the overall experience is just great. PS: You must try their cakes. 👍🏽

It can be hard finding good vegan food in Austria at the best of times but Little Dancer does an exceptional job of getting hold of a vegan breakfast an absolute pleasure. The menu is clearly labelled with VG for vegan items and items labelled VGA when a vegan option is available. They substituted the eggs in the shakshuka for tofu and it was a sublime dish - highly recommend if you're after something savoury. If I had a second stomach I'd have ordered it again. Instead I topped off my meal with a fruity muesli with chia seeds - again top notch stuff. The waitresses were lovely too and spoke really good English. Sometimes you can tell when an establishment has a happy culture because of the positive presence of its people - that seemed to be the vibe I picked up here. From the very tasty food to the joyful service, this is a place you'll want to come to early or even reserve in advance because it gets busy (with good reason!). Keep on dancing Little Dancer! Highly recommended!

Great food and nice place. Top marks for having pictures of puppies on the wall. 1 star off for the dukkah eggs being too firm in the middle and the coffee was not great. Fresh beans from a specialty roaster would elevate this cafes game to 5 stars!

I eat at the Little Dancer every single time I am in Linz as often as possible. Every dish is as exceptional to enjoy as it is looks; fresh, piping hot, crafted with intentionality, and consistently good in the months I've been going here. The team here reliably delivers attentive service (the best I've had in Europe); it's fulfilling to support a business where the owners are hands-on, their passion radiating whether in the kitchen or front of house, and where returning customers are greeted with a genuine smile.

They have probably the nicest staff you’ll ever meet in Linz. Food and coffee was absolutely out of this world. You must come here at least once when you’re in Linz or nearby. 12/10 for everything, I highly recommend it. ♥️

Wonderful small place, with fantastic food, great staff and an awesome atmosphere. We turned up without a reservation on a Sunday morning but despite being full the staff were quick to find us some space sitting at the serving counter so we weren't left disappointed. The food quality was stunning with the cook staff not only producing great food, but the ingredients tasted fresh and the presentation was beautiful. I would highly recommend a visit, but ring ahead to avoid disappointment.

A really cool and pleasant bar attached to the cinema. Nice staff, family friendly, and hip decor. We only had drinks so I can't review the food but the menu looked nice and drinks were reasonably priced! Will definitely go back.

You can’t come to Linz and not try the oldest recorded tart recipe in the world! Home to the Original Linzer Torte, this is definitely worth trying. But be warned, it if a dry tart. Definitely order a beverage- they do a lovely Campari soda served in retro Campari glasses. They also do other cakes which are worth trying too - the peach cake (forget the name) was amazing. Service was good but this place was super busy on a Friday afternoon- lots of packed outdoor tables but inside in an adjoining room is loads more seating and mostly empty.

The original Linzer Torte (apparently!) in a relaxed / dated cafe setting with efficient staff who bordered on brusque! The torte is worth trying if you're visiting, although it's quite dry!

An old pastry shop, not far from the main street of the city. There is a breakfast option and a large selection of pastries. Tasty coffee. There are many visitors inside. The service is pleasant, with a smile.

I was there around noon, and it was not crowded. I had a slice of traditional Linzer torte, which is an interesting cake worth trying once, but it's not really to my taste. A good espresso. The service was impeccable, and the staff was friendly, speaking a little English. I would warmly recommend the place.

Really old, traditional cafe. It really gives it immaculate vibe. There are a lot of cakes etc to choose from but traditional Linz cake was my choice and I wasnt disappointed. Unfortunately, there were a lot of customers so staff was struggling.

Good to great quality food. The omelette is exceptional. The ice-cream based desserts were also good including Heiße Liebe and the Banana Split, both pictured here. The male staff were curt and at times rude especially when one as me outright for a 10% tip. I watched him with other customers and he appeared equally unpleasant. My advice to management is to either train your staff or get better male staff.

The toasted sandwiches were overpriced for the quality and presentation, moreover considering Linz is far from being a tourist hub. The waiter “Patrick” would benefit from being retrained in hospitality and friendliness, a quite an unprofessional and rude individual! Disappointed, as a visitor it only supports the reputation that Austrians are the rudest and most inhospitable people of the western world. 😔 Linz, very sad

Stopped for a pre-dinner drink. Very friendly efficient service. Relaxed atmosphere, sat outside on a chilly evening but rugs and heaters kept us warm. Lovely inside too. Very nice looking cakes but didn’t try them.

Nice cafe in the centre of Linz. We visited the cafe two days ago and had two cakes (a traditonal Linzer and a wachauer cake). Both cakes were delicious. The staff is super kind and friendly. The waiter even brought us an extra chair, so that we can put our bags on the chair. I definitely recommend this cafe.

Amazing decor and ambience like in the gold era. Very nice staff that fulfilled our every need. Mid-century upper Austria decor with heavy wooden furniture and stone arches. Food was fresh, hot, delicious and nicely presented.

Sunny quite place just out of the Main Street. Great place for breakfast a coffee or drink. Staff is very friendly to me. Coffee is great. Omelette with cheese vegetables and ham is a great start of the day.

We had breakfast outside. Seating is fine, enough shade provided by umbrellas. Looking out onto a big plaza in front of a church. We were unlucky since there was a huge amount of wasps and no countermeasures, but probably nothing that could easily be done anyways. But severely impacted the meal. No card payments, but a cash machine close by. Service was quite hit or miss. One of the service persons was obviously very new, nervous and forgot a lot. The other were friendly and more experienced.

As a local, it’s my favorite place in the Altstadt - coffee, matcha, amazing desserts and breakfast options. Sitting outside on a warm summer morning, watching people and drinking your favorite drink - Madame Wu is the best for that! As well as for all tea lovers. They have amazing collection of all varieties of tea, customer friendly menu that actually helps you to choose. And cozy interior inside with ancient Asian elements. Must visit 👏

Very nice place. There are a few tables outside. The service is friendly and attentive. There are sets for breakfast. On weekends it is better to book a table in advance. Of the minuses: a long waiting time for the order (the waitress warned about this and it is written about it in the menu).

My favorite place to visit when in Linz. Great coffee and tea, tasty food. I've visited for breakfast as well for the English tea time and enjoyed both a lot. A reservation is recommended as the place is rather small. The tea shop is a dream come true. This year, I also had a chance to try the summer drinks. This is honestly the best ice cream I know, including many of the top handcrafted ice cream shops throughout Vienna and Graz and whole of Austria, Thailand and Spain. You can honestly feel and taste the passion and consideration that goes into each new creation and existing flavours- it is fine dining in ice cream, honestly. You don't receive a scoop of ice cream, you'll get a rounded and fine-tuned flavour explosion experience, from the ingredients to the toppings. None of us can understand how the Eisdieler did not win Upper Austria's best ice cream award because it truly is! Highly highly recommended! Even their ice cream cones (the waffles) are homemade and taste and smell incredibly good, now they'll start a coffee shop nearby and we can't wait to try it out! 🍧🍦🍨☕❤️💕

This is probably my favorite one: they change flavors pretty often so you choose different combinations every time you come - Poppyseed - Apple pie - Rum - Vegan chocolate - Plum with crumbs - Coffee - Banana split Owned by a very friendly couple who are running all of it themselves 💖

Very friendly staff and good food in the centre of Linz The staff were kind and friendly and the food was enjoyable. It is a good place to watch the square from and see the comings and goings as the world passes by. A nice café.

Avoid: arrogant waiter. Nice ambiance for a dessert in Hauptplatz. However, there was a mistake in the bill as we were charged 6€ for tap water (!), and when asked, the old waiter corrected it but was unfriendly, impolite and arrogant. Avoid.

There are about 10 Cafes at the Main Square. Bruckner is the only that’s serving local beer from Upper Austria. All the others carry stuff from Heineken (or their austrian branch called Brau AG). Service is really good ans friendly. Don’t know about the food, but it looks very delicious. Highly recommendable.

Friendliest young waiter you will ever experience in the whole of Austria. He said he was a country boy. I hope he stays like this!

Staff was extremely nice and polite, and all the bevarages and deserts we tried were delicious, the prices weren't that high either, so I definitely recommend this place.

I liked it, but there are better places. The inside is nicely decorated, and it looks nicer than the outside, where there are a few crowded tables on the sidewalk. The location is not exactly spectacular, either. It's just not my type of neighborhood. It took a while until our food arrived. Too long of a while for breakfast if you ask me. I was not impressed by the selection. Also, there is no fresh juice option. It's okay. Nothing went tremendously wrong, but I don't see myself visiting soon.

Cool spot—- found on « chronic wanderlust «  website. Interesting omelettes & scrambled egg dishes. The schokomousse cake was just ok. The cappuccino and spot on attentive service from our server Francesca made this a 5***** experience!

We dropped by for a short break as part of our drive from Vienna to Salzburg. We had 2 coffees, cakes and sandwiches. The cake was delightful and the service was good. Will visit again for sure. Adequate parking nearby.

Very special place in Linz, especially for breakfast. I was coming to have this gourmet food experience, and I got it. But my husband not really. And there is one suggestion. You really have very nice dishes, and a great offer. But first of all, there is no English menu, and the waktors speaking English but couldn't care very much what we want, rather just please order what we have. We even open your official website , there was an English menu but it was not actual, and you were not up to that. It is really cool to have a pictures in your menu, because it really looks and tastes fantastic, and the client wants to be sure what we order, not only from theist of ingredients you have in menu. As a tip for other tourist, at least you can find a pictures of food at Instagram of other people and point out. That's how I did. The eggs Benedict with avocado are just a tasty bomb!

Great team. Best atmosphere especially on Sunday morning. They are offering a nice range of great breakfasts and you can make any change to the dishes and they will make it as your wish.

By far some of the best burgers in Austria. The bread is very big and patty was very authentic American style. French fries were softer, which I like as well. Drinks were a bit pricey but food prices are reasonable.

The big breakfast is really big. I loved their marmelade selection. They brought way too many variants so we could choose what we liked. The waitress checked on our wellbeing regularly and was really nice. Sercice was fast enough. The majority of the tables were taken. Everything functioned accordingly. It's not overpriced.

Excellent coffee and really good Tartlets. The outside area of the café was (understandably) packed when we arrived but it was a nice spring day, so we opted to plop on the stairs instead of sitting inside even though its super cozy there. I ordered a cold brew made with beans that were more on the acidic side, and the coffee had a fruity acidity but with quite a balanced acidity and a light mouthfeel. Can definitely recommend the place! Drop by for sure if you're in the area!

Heavenly coffee lounge, like stepping into someone’s elegant and cosy home right when the cake is taken out of the oven. The cheesecake is a work of art!

Possibly the best Cappuccino I had in Linz. Very creamy, with nice flavour. They use special coffee, not one of those mass produced generic brands with bland taste. Cake was also good, really homemade and natural feeling. The service is friendly, polite and attentive. Bonus points are for toilets. Clean, neat, comfy with good smell, with even a bit stylish design.
