Kortrijk 1302 is a museum that takes visitors back to the historic Battle of the Golden Spurs, which occurred on July 11, 1302. This significant event in Flemish history is brought to life through engaging displays and animations, offering insight into the Flemish identity and the Dutch-French debate. The museum provides a fascinating look at how a group of Flemish peasants managed to defeat a large army of French cavalry and elite against all odds.
Well presented and very interesting history of the counts of Flanders and the battle of the golden spurs. Highly recommended. Allow 1 to 2 hours for all the exhibits. Don’t miss the Oxford panel.
Helen B — Google review
Great experience, both the immersive experience as well as the small but interactive exposition on the battle of 1302. Film starts every thirty minutes, audio in English, Dutch and French. Free entrance, tips for the amazing volunteers of course appreciated ;-)
Elmer — Google review
Interactive, educative and free experience that tells you about earlier days of Flanders. One can watch a 20 min movie, have a look at the paintings or listen for stories in 3 languages.
Valeria E — Google review
A really impressive exhibition inside a beautiful medieval church. Was a surprise to find a museum inside a church - but the church itself is well worth visiting. Interactive displays that tell you the story of the battle of the golden spurs in 1302. Especially nice was the animated film, don't miss it (every 30 minutes, in English, French and Flemish)

The Belfry of Kortrijk is a striking landmark that has stood proudly in the heart of this historic Belgian city since the early 14th century. Originally part of the Old Cloth Hall complex, it symbolizes Kortrijk's rise as a center for the Flemish cloth industry. This impressive medieval tower reaches 83 meters and is recognized as one of Belgium's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, showcasing its rich cultural heritage.
One of lives pleasures is sitting having a coffee and listening to the bells here.
Andy H — Google review
Nice town centre with historic buildings. The cathedral and surrounding buildings are very well kept. Nice bars and restaurants to enjoy too.
Mohammed I — Google review
To my knowledge, you cannot get into the tower, but it’s still a very beautiful monument in the square and kind of dissemble of the city. I enjoyed looking at it and reading the information that was written on the history of the tower.
Mike A — Google review
A medieval belfry on the city's main square, dated to have been built in early 14th century. Is on the Unesco world heritage list (as one of "Belfries in Belgium and France"). It was originally part of the long since demolished Cloth hall, in fact also the belfry was planned to be torn down in late 19th century, but heavy protests from the local population saved it. Supposedly you can get inside, it did seem closed when I visited, so not totally sure if you can enter it or not.
Henri ( — Google review
Nice surrounding, just sit down and enjoy a Belgian beer and listen to the " beiaard "
Wim V — Google review
In this busy student city, the market place offers a peaceful place to enjoy a coffee or meal in one of the many taverns. Statues, art, children's playground, lots of nice shops, something for everyone to enjoy
Miss V — Google review
I believe this is St Martins Church adjacent to the Grote Market. Kortrijk is quite a pleasant place and easy to walk around. There is a lot of interesting architecture to admire in the area of the Grote Market and lots of places to eat and snack and watch the world go by. I believe that the area has frequent antiques markets outdoors also. The square also hosts live music and performances. Worth checking beforehand whats on.
Basil T — Google review
You have just about everything around there. Stores, restaurants, bars, burger shops, hemp shop, hotels, ATMs, banks, sight seeing locations... Most times a very busy place. It's a good place to go relax outside in the sun at one of the local bars/taverns/restaurants.

Nestled in the charming city of Kortrijk, Belgium, the Broel Towers stand as a testament to medieval architecture and history. These striking conical towers, constructed from limestone and sandstone in the 14th and 15th centuries, were originally part of a defensive compound established by the Counts of Flanders. Flanking either side of the Oude Leie river, they are easily accessible via the historic Broelbrug bridge that dates back to 1385.
Stopped 2 days visiting the area and enjoyed the local food the towers were closed while the Christmas market was going on I recommend the area any time of the year
George R — Google review
Nice town with good restaurants and a tower to climb with view over the city. Parking is a available and walking distance to the town centre.
Erik F — Google review
These two towers are the monument that to me defined Kortrijk It was very nice to see them from both sides of the river and it’s a very nice photo picture for those who like to take pictures. I am not sure if you can go inside the towers, but anyway, it was just nice to admire them from outside.
Mike A — Google review
Iconic towers on bridge over river Leie in centre of Kortrijk. Lovely setting for sitting outside for a drink or meal
Gill C — Google review
Lovely city with these two towers by the river.
Ana S — Google review
Cool towers either side of cobbled bridge besides the river. Steps and seating either side of river and lots of restaurants look like will be open in the evenings. We watched a wedding take place just beside the towers looks like it happens fairly regularly

In the charming city of Kortrijk, Belgium, visitors can explore a unique attraction known as TEXTURE - Flax & River Lys Museum. Housed in a historic 1902 flax factory, this museum offers an immersive experience that delves into the town's innovative role in the flax industry. The museum showcases the significance of flax and linen through interactive exhibits that allow visitors to touch, feel, and smell various linen-related items.
Flax doesn’t sound that interesting, but on a cold day in January we thought it could be a good way to keep warm. It was in fact one of the most interesting and well thought out museums I’ve been too and I learnt a great deal. The signs are in several languages, there are interactive screens, and the flow from ground floor (touch, feel, understand the product and how it’s used), first floor history and top floor treasures (examples), is very good indeed. You could spend many hours here and it’s great for kids as well as adults.
Lesly H — Google review
This museum is well detailed and informative across all floors. Our family really enjoyed this museum and we learned so much. We highly recommend.
Kyle J — Google review
I bought a ticket for Triënnale Kortrijk only: it gives you access to only the top floor of Texture, (and to other locations in town). To see a video about underwater life... Yes, you have to climb up to look underwater.😄 But I passed the shop, where they have an amazing collection of books on flax and fabric.👌 Creative, wonderful presents are also on sale.🥰 In the workshop, teenagers were busy, creating their own tapestry. Showing me through the glass wall the work they were proud of.🥰👌👍
Hilde D — Google review
The middle floor with the detailed explanations in English / French / Dutch was fascinating insight into the history of this area as a powerhouse of flax / linen production. Really enjoyed our visit!
Varina — Google review
Well This was nice (in spite of the small children screaming like the place was on fire) . Learnt a lot around the production of linen ( and about the lingerie of catholic priests - first photo)
Hans L — Google review
Wasn’t expecting much of a flax museum to be honest, but the museum provides a surprisingly interesting look at the rise and fall of the flax industry in the “Texas of Flanders”. You could read everything in English as well as Dutch and French.
Robert W — Google review
Do you know why the Leie river has been so important for Kortrijk ? Because its flow connects the city thru its history around textile industry: One of Vlaanderen most important export products, #Courtrai flax ..and here in Texture Museum over Leie you can learn about this interesting fact ...and beyond with workshops and exhibits such "Textiel in Verzet"

Restaurant
Nude Kortrijk is a vibrant eatery that emerged from the creative vision of best friends Louis Ottevaere and Feysal Ahwaz in 2017, transforming a former pub into an inviting space for food lovers. By day, it serves as a casual lunch spot, while at night it transforms into a lively bar offering delightful cocktails, delectable tapas, and fine wines.
Super friendly, loved the experience it gave. This is definitely one of the best middle eastern places in all of Belgium. Tastes like a home cooked meal. Presented very nicely on the plate too. Plus the cocktails were great!

Great food, amazing flavours. But the menu is 40 pp and we were a party of 5 and we didn't think we really had enough food for our money. We looked around and people with a party of 2 had the same portions as we did with 5. They should double the portions so everyone can it a good amount of those beautiful dishes !

The best coffee shop and breakfast experience in Kortrijk! The warm and welcoming owners definitely add the special touch that makes you want to keep coming back. Brilliant coffee and a wide variety of freshly baked pastries are available. We managed to get a table for their amazing Sunday breakfast/buffet. Make sure you book because they are usually full. A simply delicious spread of breads, pastries, yogurt, cheeses and egg dishes are included. The highlights were the chocolate cake and quiche Lorraine. The service and atmosphere are excellent. As I said already, the owners really make you feel at home. They are very friendly and were so helpful with advice about what to do in Kortrijk. Maybe because it was such a busy day (during the Sinksenfeest) and the staff got so overwhelmed, the coffee was very disappointing. Ordered a regular coffee and cappuccino, but couldn’t taste the coffee at all. The coffee only tasted of sour filter water and the cino only the oatmilk. Also one toilet didn’t flush, so there was a long queue and there were so many angry people downstairs :-( maybe it wouldn’t be like this on regular days.

The department you need never answers. The People who originally answer the phone don't speak English so you have to wait to find somebody who does. Then they tried to trains4u to the proper department after you tell them what you need but those departments never answer. Flanders International Airport Kortrijk-Courtrai, also known as Kortrijk-Wevelgem Airport, is a charming regional airport nestled close to the vibrant city of Kortrijk in Belgium's Flemish region. This airport offers travelers a convenient option for accessing nearby business hubs while providing a serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle. Although primarily catering to private flights, it serves as an excellent gateway for those looking to minimize travel time and costs.
Easy to use automated systems. Friendly customs and very helpful. Friendly search dog too (lol) thank you for a smooth service.

Each group gets its own table, which creates a very relaxed atmosphere. Upon arrival, we received a clear explanation of how everything works. There's a wide selection to choose from, with items starting at €25 as well as more expensive and special items for those who want them. Afterward, you can fully unleash your creativity: you choose the colors, designs, and materials yourself. While painting, we enjoyed a drink and a bite to eat. If you have any questions, you can always ask. The staff is super friendly and happy to help! This activity is highly recommended, and I will definitely be back! (Translated by Google) Disappointing experience at pop-up ceramic painting, Cappuccino Ostend I always write honest reviews, both positive and negative, and unfortunately, this experience wasn't a success. We participated in the pop-up ceramic painting session at Cappuccino in Ostend, but felt unwelcome from the start. There was hardly any guidance: no one stopped by to check if everything was going well, and the painting water wasn't changed. The brushes were in poor condition; some even chipped in my work, which is naturally frustrating when you're trying to create something beautiful. When I asked a staff member for help painting a specific shape, I wasn't taken seriously, and my request was even ridiculed. Meanwhile, a young staff member preferred flirting with the barmaid to helping customers. The only friendly person was a student working that evening. When picking up the finished piece, everything was also aloof. No "hello," no "thank you," nothing. Furthermore, the pickup time is limited to 4 p.m., and if you miss that, your piece will be taken to Kortrijk. Something to keep in mind, since many people work during the day. Everything is quite expensive, especially considering the poor service. But despite everything, I'm happy with my artwork, and that's the only positive I can take away from this experience. The concept itself is nice, but the execution and customer service left much to be desired. I don't know who's responsible for this pop-up, but unfortunately, your staff don't do your business justice. I won't be returning.

The Church of Our Lady of Courtrai, located in Kortrijk, Belgium, is a historic former collegiate church established in 1199 by Baldwin IX, Count of Flanders. It is renowned for its rich history and remarkable interior featuring various artistic styles and treasures. Visitors can explore the church's significance through an impressive visual and audio display that recounts the 1302 battle between the French and Flanders. Interactive panels provide further insights into historical events such as the founding of Belgium.
There are many beautiful and detailed arts and sculptures. Also there's an exhibition which is really worth visiting because of modern technology and animations and stories.

This is one of the oldest building in Kortrijk. It was built in the 12th century. What was interesting for me was the restored chapel with the many paintings of the portraits of the counts of Flanders. It is worth following a guided tour on those chapel and the church as the history and the many unanswered questions about the portraits are highlighted.

Lily's noodle house is a cozy place to have a tasty bowl of good old noodle soup. We had the gyoza as a starter and they tasted very fresh. The bowls were a perfect portion so that you felt full but not overstuffed. Dessert was the cheesecake and wow, still warm and one of the better ones I've eaten. We did have to call the waiter if we wanted to ask or order something since they didn't get to the table due to it being busy, which meant we sometimes had to wait a while to be served. The monument also contains plane trees, a Himalayan cedar and a weeping willow. On the side of the Groeningelaan in 1906, the romantic-realistic Groeninge monument by G. Devreese was erected. The bronze whole is gold-plated and was cast in the "Fonderie Nationale des Bronzes" in Sint-Gillis near Brussels. At the top is a young woman, the allegorical Virgin of Flanders. She waves the scythe in her left hand, often mistaken for Good Day around 1900. With her right hand she holds the symbolic Flemish Lion in check by the mane; the lion has broken his slave bonds and is roaring menacingly towards France. The pedestal represents three episodes from the Battle of the Golden Spurs of 1302: in particular the farewell of a warrior on the left, the victory and Robert d'Artois killed next to his horse Morel. On the pedestal the coats of arms of Flanders and Kortrijk and the inscription: "KORTRIJK - BATTLE OF THE GOLDEN SPOREN XI JULY MCCCII". Connecting road built between the Plein and the Groeningelaan in 1900. From 1902 to 1968 "Antoon Goethalslaan", from 1968 to 1981 "Burgemeester Goethalslaan". In 1981 "Groeningepoort" after the so-called "Groeningepoort" founded in 1908. To the west, the St. Joseph's Institute and the Hospital of the Holy Family border the street. (Original) Minder indrukwekkend dan ik vooraf dacht! "Groeningepoort".

(Translated by Google) This triumphal arch is not only a beautiful reminder of a great victory but is also beautiful in itself. Never can one see a more beautiful entrance to a park. The gate is built in the shape of a castle gate with battlements and tower shape on the sides. Existed since 1908 and was built in Ardennes stone. This beautiful monument was built to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302. The gate gives access to the Groeninge Park where the Groeningeveld was located in the Middle Ages. At the top of the gate a shield was depicted with the Flemish Lion and the inscription 1302 Groeningheveld. Beautiful ! (Original) Deze triomfboog is niet alleen een mooie herinnering aan een grote overwinning maar is ook prachtig op zich. Nooit kan men een mooiere ingang tot een park aanschouwen. The Beguinage of Courtrai, dating back to the 13th century, is a charming complex of houses that used to be home to a women's religious community. Although the beguines no longer reside there, it remains a hidden gem in Kortrijk. The tranquil atmosphere within the courtyard provides a peaceful escape from the bustling Market Square. Visitors can enjoy coffee and cake at Het Huis van de Grootjuffrouw while exploring this well-preserved historical site.
Another beautifull place in Belgium, these old neiborhoods have their own atmosphere, old streets, buildings, trees, gardens, backyards and of course, the entrance is free. Also small museum and chapel were open for free. You can the history from all around. No public toilets but there is small restaurant / cafe so probably if you went in you would find the toilets too... in the museum there are some interactive panels for children so they were excited too.

I've spent entire days being in this bookstore. Worth visiting if you want to buy books, have a snack or just read.
Sahil T — Google review
Love the location and ambiance. Looks like a hotel foyer repurposed. Lots of cozy spaces to sit and read and you can enjoy some snacks and drinks from the register. There is a reasonable variety of books, not to specific, not to general. Only downside is that there is one small set of steps that disallows wheelchair access past the entrance.
Ajay N — Google review
The concept and store are great! I wish there were more places like this. The only minus point is that there are not enough books to choose from. Nearly all are in Dutch, but I clearly remember that a couple of years ago there were books available in other languages. If the owners see this message, could you at least make it so that we can order foreign language books through your store? Many of us prefer to read books in their original language if we are familiar with it ourselves.

LAGO Kortrijk Weide is a vibrant swimming complex that promises an exhilarating day out for the entire family. With both indoor and outdoor pools, it features thrilling water slides, including the longest wildwater slide in the Benelux region. Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences, from relaxing swims to exciting rides down five unique slides—each offering its own adventure. The facility also boasts a cafeteria with a lovely terrace for those looking to unwind after some fun in the water.
An ideal place to spend a few hours playing with children. Great slides. It's best to book your ticket in advance and come either early in the morning or in the evening. Otherwise you have to wait in lines to the waterslides. Inside, you can eat something, the food is so-so. Normal prices. Parking outside. A lot of space.

Nice little aquapark with some minor inconveniences. It was, except groups of school kids pretty quiet. Ticketing & Parking: Upon reading other reviews, buying a ticket online seems to be the only way. The ticket is also timed and you have to arrive in a time window of 30min. When arriving you, they force you to show an ID (if not Belgian, go straight to the front desk, not the machines). The price (15€) is pretty ok for what you get. Parking is right next to the park, though upon exiting I struggled to get it working and needed help to get out. Also before going, check the clothing policy: no shorts for swimming allowed. Facilities/Changing Rooms: The park is very clean and still feels very new. You need a 1€ coin for the lockers (you get it back). Only con was that you had to pay extra for the hair dryers. Pools and Saunas: There is a very large sports pool, a small shallow wave pool, two kid play areas, a nice winding hot tub area and a rather small outdoor pool. They were all pretty clean. The Hammam and Saunas (need to bring a towel) are also included. 5 Slides: They have a nice variety of slides. The first one you see is the Wildwater river, which is a fun winding current (like a maze), not rough, with an extraordinary length. Blue Tornado is a cool thrilling bowl slide which almost entirely pitch black inside all the time. Black storm is one really fast and joyful slide without being too rough/uncomfortable. Red typhoon is an interesting slide with cool illusion elements. Ouragon vert is a very nice slide with illusion elements and a disco part at the end (though watch out, some kiddies go down without a raft and I bumped into a group of kids camping inside the disco part of the slide). White Tornados were unfortunately closed, they said its due to not enough staff they could only operate it on a few days (wednesday and one other day), could have been said on their website Verdict: ++ cleanliness + slide selection/variety + saunas & hot tub area + kids areas + friendly staff, most also speak english -/+ wave pool (a bit too small/shallow) - ticketing procedure and time window with ID can be annoying - white tornados closed, not enough staff - paying for hair dryer - no bracelet for easier paying food/drinks -- parking payment unnecessary complicated

Even with our reservation we had to wait in a giant queue to get in, what kind of reservation system is that?? Very bad experience

I wasn't ever been like this swimming pool in Belgium! Servicers are very poor in communication with customers, speaking attitudes zero, respecting to their customers are zero. I hope the manager of lego zwembad in Kortrijk will sensitively and carefully manage them rightfully for the customers.

Why would I need a passport to go to a pool? Absolutely ridiculous!!! Horrible place Edit after company response: A passport is required to go swimming? As if I’m going to even risk bringing my passport to a public pool. And what safety will a passport deter? Is your place of business that unsafe? I guess this is one of the many reasons you have such a bad rating online.
The D — Google review
Stated on the website that it was possible to pay with ecocheques at the front desk however i tried on both of the terminals and couldn’t. The parking ticked i bought online was pointless since the parking in front of the swimming pool is not actually the swimming pool parking and the swimming pool parking is located somwhere else. The parking in front of the swimming pool was extremely expensive with a price of 7.5€ for 4 hours that we spent there. Also please consider the lockers without coin lock since not everyone still has coins with them. And paying 1€ for drying your hair is also a bit upsetting since i pay for the ticket so at least this should be also included.

A bit expensive Cafeteria is nice with an indoor playground and great view. The menu has basic fried stuff, burgers and pasta at a high price. The service is terribly slow - took 1h30 to get a spaghetti and then they were out of cutlery. I was so mad I started to clean tables myself to fetch them cutlery. You have to pay up front, so you can't just walk away. They just can't handle the size when it gets busy. Never again I'll order food again here.
M. V — Google review
The swimming pool was smaller than we expected it to be. Besides that, we arrived at 11 A.M. This was good because there weren't a lot of people. There are 5 slides that have their own characteristics. The black slide goes fast and ks very dark. The blue slide is a slide where you enter a sort of tornado slide. The red slide is a slide where you pick a "scenario". There are screens during the slide that show things of that specific "scenario" you chose. The green slide is a slide where you need to use a small raft, it's a fun slide because you can see outside now and a while and it gives the impressions you're going to fly out of the tube in to the open air. And finally the white slide a a sort of race where you drop 2 meters and then go very fast to the end. It's a race because you can go in with 2 side to side. There's also a restaurant, but you have to wait a ling time to get your order completed. Our order wasn't big and we had to wait 20 minutes. I would recommend this swimming pool!

(Translated by Google) Together with the two Broel Towers, this tower is the only remnant of the medieval Kortrijk city walls. It dates from 1300 and its original function was as a drinking water tower and was part of the defensive wall around the O-L-Vrouwekerk. After 1359 the tower was converted into a cannon storage facility and later it was used for the production and storage of gunpowder and ammunition. It was restored in 2005 and is now classified as a historic monument. If this park was any further away from a main road.... Ppl would think its haunted. Actually this is a must see. When you arrive in the parking lot, the place seems a bit awkward but you'll eventually find the door and enter. The price is not displayed anywhere - they asked 25€ for just two people (12.5€/ p) ... which seems a bit expansive for 1h30 of ice skating. There is no facility to keep your stuffs safe while skating, the rented ice skates are very standard. Nevertheless the ice skating is nice, and was not too overcrowded so we spent a rather good time.
