Heritage preservation
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (Haworth Station) is a well-preserved railway station and train line that offers a museum and rides on vintage steam locomotives. The 5-mile heritage steam and diesel train ride provides spectacular views across Bronte Country, made famous by the 1970s film, The Railway Children.
Just had the traditional afternoon tea experience. Absolutely blown away. Fantastic food, excellent service, in short a really brilliant day, when I felt I got full value for my money. There is a nice selection of sandwiches, meringues/ macaroons and a large scones with cream and jam. Also included in the price is an all day rover ticket. A very enjoyable day and highly recommended.

Steam train on a regular line. A spectacular day out. It’s a regular line and engine, now maintained by a volunteer organisation. There are both steam and diesel engines. The carriage has a great bar with local beers. The shops at the station have interesting gifts. People are super friendly.
James N — Google review
Small, but perfectly formed line, with immaculately preserved stations. Staff very personable, great carriage stock, and excellent value for money, with a great addition of the museum, adding to the all round experience. Fantastic to be on the iconic platform, as featured in the Railway Children, and of course, the quaint smallest station in Britain. My son is a railway enthusiast, and adored it. Highly recommended
Eric C — Google review
Really enjoyable train ride. Good views. Travelled in a carriage that didn't have a bar, however when stopping at Keighley and Oxenhope, there's enough time to get off and grab a drink. Great for kids too. Some carriages are accessible for prams. Would advise getting on earlier, we got off in the evening and it was getting busy

I myself recently re-visited the historically renowned keighley & worth valley railway on saturday 8th of November 2025 (with my P.A. accompanying me), we travelled by train from morley/leeds all the way up to keighley... went up the steps and across back in time once again as we descended onto platforms 3 & 4 for the heritage train bound for oxenhope, Throughout my latest revisit to west yorkshire's branch line heritage railway, We checked out the successfully uniquely restored old water tower/column on platform 4 - which I consider a splendid site to behold - whilst we waited for the oxenhope-bound passenger train, which was hauled by that brilliantly uplifting ex-LMS stanier black five tender locomotive number 44932 that gave us (and the rest of the other passengers) an enjoyable train journeying up the valley of the river behind the KWVR's very name (as well as it's nature), It was great revisiting all the stations along the line, especially Ingrow (west), Damems, Oakworth, Haworth, and of course the outstanding Oxenhope - from where we watched the brilliantly steaming balck five run-round it's train bound for the return journey back down to keighley, I also took plenty of photos, well, quite a lot... along the line, especially safely from carriage window, for whom I do hope the KWVR itself really likes them, as I hear by share some as part of my latest review on west yorkshire's branch line heritage railway. Hope to come back & revisit the KWVR someday.
William C — Google review
Booked the Haworth Haddock and had a fabulous time. Steam train from Oxenhope to Keighley, fish & chips, on board bar and the brilliant Night Patrol played on the platform. You can pick your tickets up early which allows you to travel the line during the day. Staff are lovely, they all work hard to make sure you have a good night. Fabulous to see such enthusiasm. Well worth a visit but if you get the chance for one of their themed events definitely book it!
Phill C — Google review
£16 for full line return £23 for all day hop on, hop off Lovely journey with picturesque views. Some journeys are diesel, others steam. Check which ones but some have hot drinks and snacks available on board too.
Boo B — Google review
A lovely day out. Diesel and steam were running. The engine sheds were open and very informative. All the staff working that day were friendly and helpful. We bought a Rover ticket which allowed us to hop off at station's along the line.

History Museums
The Brontë Parsonage Museum, located in Haworth, is the former family home of the famous literary sisters Charlotte, Anne, and Emily Brontë. The museum showcases a wealth of personal items, manuscripts, and letters belonging to the Brontë family. Visitors can explore the humble residence where the sisters penned their classic novels such as 'Jane Eyre' and 'Wuthering Heights.' The museum offers an immersive experience with original bedrooms and studies to wander through.
Step through the door of the Brontë Parsonage Museum and you step back theough history. You don't have to be a fan of the Brontë Sisters to appreciate this excellent museum which is packed with furniture and items belonging to the Brontë family in a faithful recreation of their home. After a short wait in the pleasant surroundings of the garden we were ushered in and allowed to take in the surroundings at our own pace, taking in as little or as much as we chose through information boards, our own guidebook and a series of QR codes which add to the experience. After visiting the main rooms we spent some time in the exhibition that was full of interesting information and more artifacts before descending to the shop. The shop is full of great gifts and souvenirs and if you purchase books the staff will stamp them to show that they were purchased at the museum. Parking is conveniently located a few metres away from the museum at £1.50 an hour payable by cash, card or via the RingGo app but if that car park is full there is another pay and display car park nearby. The toilet facilities at the museum are impressive, very clean and well-maintained. There were a lot of staff on-site who were all very friendly and happy to talk and answer questions. As we visited in the middle of August the museum was busy and as space is at a premium it wasn't always the most comfortable of experiences but when we were returning to the car later on there wasn't even a queue so there are probably quieter times to visit! This museum is a must-see if you are in the area. In addition, the church that houses the Brontë crypt is the other side of the garden wall and the village itself is very picturesque.

Very interesting in that is covers the entire Bronte family. Much more interesting than just their books. Enjoyed this much more than I expected. An added bonus is the cute town within which they lived
Stephen G — Google review
Wonderful museum. I'd wanted to visit for years and finally did recently. Spotting the parsonage from the exit/ back entrance of the church was such a magical moment. I really recommend getting your first glimpse there. The environs were so beautiful, what an appropriately magical atmosphere. The parsonage was delightful. Highlights were the piano, Anne's bloodied handkerchief, Branwell's painting of Emily, Charlotte's hair and dress, Maria's inscribed comb, and Patrick's glasses. I also loved seeing the apostle cupboard referenced in Jane Eyre. I'd been a fan for years but was unaware that their poor, elder sisters had been so close in age to them. That was really thought-provoking. I bought lots of things from the gift shop - my favourite of which were simple copies of a drawing of and by Anne, my favourite Brontë. The moors were to die for. Spectacular trip.

Wonderful visit to Howarth, Yorkshire, good scenery, fresh air, exercise and if you love the Brontë sisters like me, it's just a great reasonably priced day trip out from Manchester. Thought the bars , shops, goods, merchandising were interesting, some quirky, a few unique, but others, which were often the same but just in different shops , were a little over priced imo. And really only one reasonably affordable eatery, which i enjoyed a scone tea immensely

The Bronte's home ( The Parsonage ),a dedicated museum to the Bronte family. Interesting and in depth look into their life and times . Situated over two floors, with a shop and toilets at the rear. £13 standard adult entrance fee. Can get very busy on weekends and Bank Holidays.
Graeme W — Google review
I'm not a huge Brontë fan, I know their story and have read several of their novels and obviously seen a lot of adaptations and biopics, but I must admit to being a little disappointed by this museum. The best thing is knowing you're standing where they once stood, but a lot of the items are made up of recreations and copies of things that are held elsewhere or in private collections. The recreation of Branwell's study, overseen by Simon Armitage, is somewhat comical in its drunken-yet-brilliant-mind excess, and it always strikes me as odd how much is devoted to his lost genius, when there's literally three women who achieved right there, against the odds. At best, you can do the full tour of the house in under an hour, less if it's not busy (the rooms are small and the cordons only give you a finite space, so if there's more than two people in there, you have to wait your turn). The tour is self guided but staff are on hand should you have any queries. Have to say, on my visit some of the staff looked far from energised; their aura often seemed to be one of boredom and a desire to be elsewhere/invisible (to be fair it was around 2pm so lunch breaks may have been imminent) so there was a feeling of "please don't ask me anything". They may have also been annoyed at the two unruly children one party had, the adults of whom were doing nothing to control them. You are allowed to take photographs, but no flash if your wielding anything other than your phone. The last room explores the legacy of the sisters on film, but it's pretty basic, amounting to some film scripts and the odd photo. A more interactive experience, showing numerous clips from adaptations, perhaps with the original scenes from the novel accompanying in comparison, would be more interesting and likely to fire the imagination. The gift shop is well stocked, but you'll probably find similar in several shops on the main street, perhaps at a slightly lower price (though admittedly still inflated in comparison to other non touristy outlets; I was surprised to see pin badges going for £10 in one shop when similar would be £5 elsewhere). Toilets were clean, but the writing on the locks as small as that of the Brontës, making it difficult to know whether they're engaged. The grounds are lovely, overlooking the church and local allotments. Haworth is a lovely spot. Obviously if you are a Brontë obsessive, this is somewhere you have to visit, but for everyone else maybe not. That said, if you are in picturesque Haworth, it would be a shame not to visit. Price of admission is 13 pounds which may seem steep for such a middling experience, but it does give you access for twelve months. Then again, if you found it middling once, you probably wouldn't want to return
Mark C — Google review
Brontë Parsonage Museum is well worth visiting if you are a fan of the famous novels from this family, or want to understand life in this area during the early to mid 1800s. Timed entry to minimize overcrowding in the small space of this house. The museum presents a close replication of the original kitchen, bedrooms, dining room, etc. Some items are original (e.g., Charlotte’s paintbox and spectacles). Each room has information about typical life in that space, including storylines about what the Bronte family members might have said and done on a typical day there. The last part of the exhibition shows information and artifacts from films and plays about the Brontës. I think more could be done to depict the life of this family, in particular, events and writing leading up to publication of the famous novels. Many relevant items are together in the latter part of the house (likely due to limited space elsewhere), but it seems clumped together rather than displayed in a way that systematically explains how the novels were conceived and came to fruition. My deepest impression is the difficult lives and poor health that challenged the Brontë sisters (and brother), which likely reflects how others in the community also endured in that era. The appeal of the Bronte parsonage is amplified by its picturesque location in the village of Haworth, which is a destination on its own. The graveyard beyond the Bronte home is also worth a look, although the Brontë family except Anne are buried under the church. Visited in late May 2025.

Beautifully curated and narrated exhibition. Really takes the visitor back in time. A fitting tribute to the Bronte family and their literary genius. The gardens are also absolutely beautiful. An excellent tribute to part of Yorkshire heritage. Thank you

When in Haworth, a visit to St Michael & All Angels Church is a must. Situated next to the Parsonage Museum, this working church is the final resting place of all the Brontë siblings except for Anne. Guided tours are available on certain days, offering a unique opportunity to explore the history of this beautiful house of worship. The church holds significant historical and cultural importance, as it was where Patrick Brontë served as vicar for over four decades.
If you enjoy visiting historical churches, grave yards. Fully recommend, loads of history including the Bronties, surrounding areas. Walking round the grave yard early morning, late evening was an interesting experience. Visited a few times. Fantastic walking, and welcoming locals.

It’s a stunning piece of architecture. I cannot vouch for the work of God …

Wonderful history. I loved learning about the Brontës at the church (knowing their skeletons lay beneath - all except Anne). Catching sight of the Parsonage for the first time through the back door of the church was beyond magical. Only sad to find that this was not the original church the Brontës attended - it had been rebuilt. Not a religious person myself but love a lefty Christian, such as was evident of Patrick by his boldly empathetic and forward-thinking stance for the time. His kids were a testament to the good such thinking serves.

Lovely church with big links to the Bronte family. 🙏

So beautiful! There were some foot cut outs as an art project thinking about walking in someone elses shoes. The staff were lovely and we were speaking about the church's history. We then looked up S. Redhead, who only lasted 3 weeks!! Glad to see no donkeys in the church haha!

A beautiful church, with a lot of interesting history and information about the parish and the Bronte family. The church accepts donations, both by cash and card, as via their website.

Friday afternoon. Have afternoon tea, 3 type of sandwiches, scones & cakes at FORTEAS Lovely decos of 1940. Walk up a steep slope up to St Michael & All Angels Church. Along the beautiful shops of cakes, souvenirs, plants & flowers shops, pubs etc.

Visited the grave of Tabatha, the Bronte's much loved Servant, who is buried off to the right of the sign on the wall as you look at the picture of thd Parsonage. If you are trying to find this it says on the last couple of lines that she was the much beloved Servant to the Bronte family. After you find that line you can just about make out her name a couple of lines up as it is a family plot. Time waits for no man.

The park in the heart of Haworth is a delightful spot with its picturesque lawns, charming flowerbeds, and idyllic woodland paths. Situated at the foot of a steep cobblestone street that leads to the Bronte Parsonage Museum, this park offers an array of amenities including a bandstand, children's playground, and bowling green. Additionally, there is a serene memory garden and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Had a very pleasant stroll in this hilly park with its well kept lawns, pretty flowerbeds and wooded paths. It's located at the bottom of the steep cobbled street leading up to the Bronte Parsonage Museum. There's a bandstand, children's playground, bowling green and peaceful little memory garden. Some beautiful views of the surrounding hills and dales. There are public toilets, and an ice-cream vendor near the entrance. A nice quiet place to relax or enjoy a picnic away from the bustle of the main tourist attractions.

What a stunning area! Lovely play park for all ages! We visited here as a big group, children aged between 3-17. Loved the swinging bars and slides. The children had space to play football and so much room if you fancied a picnic. There are public toilets , we didn't use them but they looked fine. Dogs are welcome, but they have to stay on the lead. Worth a visit.
Natalie B — Google review
Very nice views but I must say one of this park's most noted feature , which was 90% why me and my wife traveled over 2 hours to visit, was the Globe sculpture by Craig Dyson ( a local artist to Keighley) I was very disappointed to find it wasn't there anymore , and even worse nothing bothered online or otherwise as to what happened to it. Eg: moved to new location or taken away permanently. For me this cut the visit short.

Beautiful, well tended, lovely flowers in bloom all through spring and summer. Gentle winding paths to meander along and a central hub of benches with a bandstand to sit and relax. Caters to everyone with its memory garden, children’s play area, bowling green and substantial size for dog walking. Does also have some public toilets although the opening hours vary.

What a beautiful park, so well maintained. Coffee shop with stunning views over the park. Museum one of the best if not the best I've ever been in. But you need a full day if not two to see and admire it all in free to enter but asked to donate £3 or more if you appreciate this remarkable place.

Nestled at the top of Main Street, The Black Bull Haworth is a must-visit for anyone exploring this charming village. This historic inn, dating back to the 16th century, holds a special place in literary history as it was frequented by Branwell Bronte, brother of the renowned Bronte sisters. Legend has it that he would sometimes make hasty exits through the kitchen window after indulging too much!
The only place that serves food between 3-5 and we were pleasantly surprised with it! Nachos were fantastic and even tho it’s listed as a starter it was massive, a full meal really! Burger and chips were really good too! And we loved customer service, Ellie was absolutely lovely, checked in on us many times and accommodated our requests. All in all - great experience 👍🏼
Polina M — Google review
Looking for somewhere to have lunch on a short visit to Haworth, I chose this traditional inn, partly because of its historical interest as a favourite haunt of Branwell Bronte. There was much to like about it: the cosy lounge with its olde-worlde decor, comfy seating, convivial atmosphere, and a lovely view of the quaint and cobbled main street from the window seats. The girl behind the bar was friendly and welcoming. But the food was very disappointing. I ordered the nduja chicken kiev served with Caesar salad and mash. The salad was tasty enough, but the chicken was overcooked, dry and so tough that I found it difficult to cut and chew it. So I took it back to the bar. The server was apologetic and very helpful, immediately offering me an alternative, but as I had only limited time in Haworth, I opted for a toasted sandwich rather than wait for another cooked meal. The bacon, brie and cranberry with dressed salad was better than the chicken, but the sandwich was not very well filled and the bacon was hard. The lunch was pricey too, though I did get a partial refund because the sandwich was cheaper. All in all, I felt let down by this lunch experience and am unlikely to come again.
Valerie H — Google review
We were only in for drinks because of the excellent location & lovely decor. This was possibly the slowest service I've ever experienced in my 40 years on earth and tbh I almost gave up. It was like 10 people had called in sick, with nobody at the bar whatsoever for around 10 mins. No apology or explanation from the server when she finally appeared. It smelled a bit fishy inside so we sat outside. May still give it another chance during a quiter period to give it a fair go as it is a really interesting, historical building.
Shezky K — Google review
I visited this hotel today for lunch during my trip to the UK from India. We ordered drinks and food, and to our surprise, we were asked to pay upfront—even before the food was served. That was the first red flag. The fish and chips we ordered, along with mushy peas, were extremely disappointing. The mushy peas in particular were spoiled and gave off a foul smell—completely inedible. We politely brought this to the attention of a waitress, who handled it well and took the dish away. However, what followed was shocking. A woman who introduced herself as the manager came to our table and was exceptionally rude—by far the rudest person I’ve encountered during my entire stay in the UK. She dismissed our complaint, insisting that "no one else has ever complained" about the dish, as if that invalidated our genuine concern. Instead of showing empathy or taking responsibility, she made it seem like we were the problem. There was no apology, no courtesy, and absolutely no regard for customer service. As a tourist, I’ve had wonderful experiences across the UK, but this single incident ruined our day and has left a very bad impression. I do not recommend this place to anyone who values good food, respectful service, and basic customer care.
Aneeta A — Google review
Two out of three of us ordered the Sunday Lunch, which came and was presented well and nice and hot! The only thing that spoilt our meal was the gravy was poured on the meal but it was a sparse amount! We asked if we could have more gravy as there wasn’t enough to cover the Yorkshire pudding! We were told NO unless we paid a further £2 each, and as the meals were around £17 I felt that this was a very mean way to treat customers! We refused to pay the extra as we felt the cost was enough to cover extra gravy when asked, only to be told that the gravy allocated was enough for the meal! Needless to say the Yorkshire pudding was like eating cardboard because of the lack of gravy that they allocate! It was a shame that our meals were spoilt because of a bit more gravy! It seems that they have been asked for more gravy before as it states on the black board that gravy is £2 for extra! But we didn’t think it would apply to the Sunday dinner as we have NEVER been refused extra gravy anywhere before! This was a nice meal spoilt! We wont be going again! There are other places near by that serve Sunday lunches and don’t refuse a small jug of gravy that would have made this meal perfect! 28th September 2025! I hope the management takes notice of this it just is a petty way to treat customers! This was the amount of gravy we were allocated and were declined any more than this without paying a further £2! I’ve never come across this before when eating out!

Called for a meal on Tuesday evening. Nice welcome & attentive service from the staff. We had our dog with us & were allowed to dine inside in the designated area. Our food was lovely, cooked well. The only down side to our visit was the full menu not being available due to them having run out of quite a few things, but four of us were still able to find something we wanted.

Right in the centre of Haworth this is a very old pub with connections to the Bronty family via there brother brother Bramwell. Today it serves good pub food that can cope even on big weekends like Steampunk. A big selection of beers and I suggest you try Theakstons Old Peaculiar. It has a great little outside seating area where you can look over to the Vintage shop the Souk or just watch the people entertainment or visitors pass by. Try it try the OP I am sure you will enjoy it. I cant tell you about the rooms as we have never stayed but everything else is great.

Took the tribe yesterday, two picked burgers, and having read a couple of negative reviews just now could not disagree more, they were huge, I was assured blinking lovely and the chips were really good too, so I’ve genuinely no idea what people are shouting about. The lady serving was flat out, but very attentive and apologised for the delay which was next to nothing. My fish and chips were lovely. It’s a lovely pub with good pub food.

What a lovely creative space to eat, drink, and craft! We popped in several times before and after our dog walks on the moors. It was so good to see a good offering of vegan options, whether it be breakfasts, sandwiches, or cakes. All of the staff were super warm, friendly, and helpful ... It's what makes you want to return. The only suggestion I would give is to have dog treats for sale, as there were lots of dogs each time we visited 🐾

Excellent café in a great location. We visited on a busy day and didn't have to wait for a table as there is tons of seating inside and out. The service was fast, despite it being almost full, and food arrived quickly! ☕️ This cafe is excellent for anyone with dietary restrictions as they have a large, detailed, clearly labelled many with gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options for breakfast, hot food, cakes, and coffee. They also have gluten free bread if you order a fry-up or soup. They offer a huge variety of vegan milk, and vegan spread for toast. The food is delicious and very high quality. 🦮✅ The cafe, both inside and out, is dog friendly!

We only had drinks, they were great. Relaxed & great staff. The painting of the clay was the best thing about the place, different shapes, sizes & prices from big dogs & dragons to little butterfly & flower. It was a great service & fun. Have recommend it to friends. They kiln fire & glaze it then you can collect or have it posted to you.

Wonderful lunch and time to rediscover the artist in me. Haven’t painted since leaving school 50 years ago. Choose a piece, paint it and wait to get a text to pick it up, once fired in the kiln. What a great concept. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Helpful friendly staff made this a truly magical and creative afternoon. Sweet potato and chorizo hash with fried egg brought out my creative juices 👍

Such a treat this place. We only popped in for some lunch but turns out we could do pottery painting as well! What was going to be a quick spot for lunch, turned into a two hour crafting session. The food was lovely and came out in good time. The choices for pottery painting were excellent and the staff were more than happy to explain the process. As we weren’t local to the area, they also offer a postal option so you can receive your pottery after it has been in Kiln!

What a lovely place this is.. me and a friend went here today on the hopes we could have a cuppa and paint some pottery, we were welcomed in by a lovely young gentleman who sat us down to do that with no problems. A lovely lady served us and told us eveythng we need to know about the painting.. we spent a good 60-90 mins in a lovely chilled atmosphere with a cup of coffee, milkshake and painted our pottery. Lovely service by all. Lovely and clean and welcoming place and we cant wait to recive our pottery in thr post. Thank you.

We chanced an unbooked visit and got the last available table by the door. We were thankful for getting in and advised that being by the door, people would be coming in and out all the time. This was the case, but we knew the score so it was fine. I felt sorry for the lady welcoming people as she had to constantly close the door as people failed to understand it was their job to do so when they walked in (basic manners that evade a lot of people unfortunately). The soup we both had was excellent and sandwich was too. We had gingerbread lattes which were excellent as well. Overall a very nice place and definitely worth a visit. Definitely book a table though. Many thanks for a lovely visit.

Nestled in the heart of Haworth, The Hawthorn is a charming eatery that beautifully captures the essence of this historic village. With its cobbled Main Street and an array of atmospheric pubs and quaint shops nearby, it’s a delightful spot for both locals and visitors alike. Renowned for its exceptional Sunday roasts, The Hawthorn offers a mouthwatering selection featuring dry-aged beef topside, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, and even a veggie Goulash Crumble.
This restaurant is the gem of Haworth. Do not miss it. The chef has a masterful palette. Every flavor was balanced. The presentation was stunning. It has a very romantic atmosphere and is rich with local history. 1 - golden hour cocktail 2 - aubergine 3 - ceviche 4 - cheese plate 5 - prosecco

An admitted local fave, the food here continues to go from strength to strength, which the photos hopefully confirm. Beautiful, cosy atmosphere; good wine list; fab cocktails; lovely service; dog-friendly and food you want to eat. It's a brilliant 'restaurant-and-then-some' grill-offering based around impeccable sourcing (they're owned by one of Yorkshire's best butchers, though fish and veggie is far from ignored TBF); fans of places like Hawksmoor should beat an immediate drum to the door. Note, most services are booked-up, especially Sunday as they've won multiple national 'best roast' awards, so do plan ahead - booking is much advised.

This is a venue you need to book a table for on weekends when events are on in Haworth. They found us a table for a drink in the past when we go for the annual Steampunk weekend. The service by all the staff is absolutely 1st class. I work in catering and seeing the way they deal with the publics questions and problems be assured you will be looked after by great people. A great comfortable atmosphere of a very old building with loads of character. Last but not least the food and drinks are amazing, tastes that you may not have tried before but you will want to go back and taste again. Book try it you will love it.

I ate here 2 nights on my own just having a main and glass of wine both times. First night I had the fruit de mer- which was fantastic and very satisfying serving size with the different seafood components and would give it 5 stars. Second night I had the Slow cooked beef short ribs. Meat was tender but huge amount of fat, 1 spoonful of mash so in the end not a very filling meal. Also the sauce served with the beef was too salty. So I'd give that dish 3 stars especially for the cost of £28. Lovely staff.
Jo-Anne L — Google review
Beef was quite chewy and roasties overdone, not much veg to share between 4 people. Had heard really good things about this place and waited ages for a table as it was winner of the best roast but I’ve had nicer roasts! The ox cheek was really nice though.

OUTSTANDING! What an amazing meal we enjoyed for our anniversary. We were pleasantly met with a glass of Prosecco on the table since it was book for an anniversary which was very kind. The wait staff were very attentive, even taking my coat for me which was nice to see. DOG FRIENDLY - even set a little pot of treats on the table for him. The ox cheek starter was divine - a must try. Cocktails were brilliant. Steaks cooked to perfection. The peppercorn sauce had a meaty umami. And deliciously cooked chips to go with it. My only criticism would be too much salt on the chips, but that is something easily overdone time-to-time. Please book a table and visit here if you are visiting Haworth, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing anniversary meal out with surprise card from the Hawthorn staff & anniversary drinks. The meal was amazing, definitely the best place for steak cooked to perfection & full of flavour. And to top it off they were more than happy to grill some chicken for our dogs dinner too. With dog biscuits & a dog bed. Perfect restaurant for an evening meal especially if you like to enjoy a beautiful night with your partner and/or spoil your dogs.

We never have roast dinners out as they always let us down....but not here. Wow. The absolute best roast lamb and beef. All the sides were so delicious too and washed down with a bottle of Primivito. Service from the moment we booked ( we were on a waiting list and had excellent communication from them) right until we left the restaurant was fantastic. Super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend but you must book!

Nestled in the charming village of Haworth, Villette Coffee House and Bakery is a delightful spot that perfectly blends elegance with comfort. The café boasts a stunning interior adorned with a statement chandelier and features a cozy period fireplace, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors. Here, you can indulge in freshly ground coffee made to order alongside an array of delectable homemade cakes.
We came to this cafe for breakfast this morning, we have visited a few times in the past but not in over a year. There was a big group of us 8 in total but we managed to all get seated on 2 tables next to each other. It wasn’t too busy and we could all talk to each other still. Breakfast was really nice, I had a full English and the coffee was good too. Staff were friendly and food don’t even take 10 minutes to come out!

The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic combined with the excellent service from the staff. Especially the young lad Luke went out of his way to serve us quickly and gave us great recommendations saying his favourite were the sausage rolls! The food came very fast and was delicious. Perfect meal for a day out walking round howarth, I will definitely be coming back.

Yesterday I finally got to try the #afternoontea. At first I was surprised that I had to make so many decisions on what was included in the meal. But in truth it made it do much more special. I went in with my 84 year old aunt and was lucky enough to get a window table. It does get busy, but the turn around is fast. My aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed our tea, although we did end up taking some of it home. We loved the sandwiches, the pie and the desserts. And we enjoyed watching people pass by. Great value and friendly service from Claire, Charlotte, Opal and Hannah. Please forgive me if I messed up on your name. You were all lovely. Now we just need to work on the one voice that did not say #SconeAsInGone!! Thank you. You made our day special!

Very pleasant place for afternoon tea and cake 🎂 Two lattes and two cakes (£15.50). Friendly staff and reasonably quick service. Very busy at peak times and can be difficult to get a table, but many takeaway their purchases.

Food was ok, the roast sandwich was nice and the jacket potato. The toffee cake was a little dry but the carrot cake was amazing. However, the place was just run down and a little dirty. The cutlery for people to pick up was covered in old food and when they cleaned the table they wiped all the food straight onto us. The apple juice was pretty terrible too. And it was about £35 for 3 people which is expensive for what we got.

*Unwelcoming and Rude Service Ruins Family Visit My family and I had an extremely disappointing experience at this coffee shop in Haworth during what was meant to be a pleasant day out. As first-time visitors, we hoped for a warm, family-friendly atmosphere but encountered impatience and rudeness that shocked us. My wife, our two young children, and I approached the counter to order lunch and drinks. Admittedly, we took a moment to decide on bread options for the sandwiches as I was juggling our kids’ requests. Instead of showing understanding, the middle-aged woman behind the counter began huffing and puffing audibly, visibly annoyed at our brief delay. When I politely asked for a moment to finalise our choices, she *stormed off* mid-order, declaring she “wasn’t dealing with us.” Her dismissive attitude was appalling—especially toward a family with young children simply trying to enjoy a meal together. Frustrated and embarrassed, I cancelled our order with her colleague and left. We took our business to a nearby fish and chips shop, where the staff was kind, patient, and accommodating—proof that hospitality isn’t hard to get right. This coffee shop’s lack of basic courtesy and professionalism ensured we never returned. Families deserve patience, not hostility when dining out. Save your time and money—there are far friendlier places in Haworth happy to welcome you

The Cabinet of Curiosities is a charming shop located at the top of Haworth Main Street. Once a Victorian apothecary, it now offers an array of delightful items from books and gifts to candles and bath bombs. The warm lighting and rich mahogany display cases create a museum-like atmosphere that invites visitors to take their time browsing through the unique range of products available. Customers have praised the quality and fragrance of soaps purchased here, noting their long-lasting scent and luxurious lather.
I always love visiting this shop when I'm in Howarth. It has so many things to choose from, from bath salts, soaps, candles, wax melts, jewellery, books and some lovely sweatshirts and tee shirts. The smell is amazing, the old fashioned cabinets are beautiful. There's not much room to manoeuvre round when you get a few people in there and can very pricey so be careful. But it is nice to buy something when in there.

A wonderfully quirky, creepy and magical little shop! 🖤 If you can visit in person it really is a delight to look around, it’s very atmospheric and it’s great to be able to smell all of the different perfumes etc. I bought a fabulous book when I visited, which came beautifully wrapped. I have since ordered two perfume oils and a scented moisturiser from their online shop. I love the precision of the perfume roller application and the scents are just divine! The Dark Honey and Tobacco is my favourite and lasts really well. It’s a perfect sultry smoky sweet smell that makes me feel like a dark sorceress! The customer service was also very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Penistone Hill Country Park is a high vantage point that offers stunning views of the upper Worth Valley. It's just a short mile walk from Haworth village and features a landscape dotted with abandoned quarries. The area provides easy walking trails, free parking, and even a small lake for dogs to splash in. Visitors can enjoy the unspoiled countryside and take in the panoramic views from well-placed benches.
Park your car in any of the top car parks and walk down the hill to the signpost and clearly marked wide path. Do not Walk across from the car park to the top path this takes a very long route which becomes very overgrown, damp, slippery, & steep. It was fun but I wouldn’t recommend it. Once we arrived over looking the river WOW. After asking fellow walkers who advised of the much easier route we enjoyed the river and the rest.

Plenty of parking available No amenities here Plenty of paths throughout the area to explore and plenty of wildlife spotted To get to the trig point, Park in the CP to the south - took one of many easy paths up to the high ground of Penistone Hill. The pillar sits away from the bulk of the old quarry activity with fine, far-reaching views. It's a great spot. It is damaged - there is some cracking and a missing chunk - and has a replacement cap, but it is still mostly intact. A great, easy-access trig

We'd booked a table, so were seated quickly. Food was really good, ordered a sirloin, salmon and Ultimate pie. All were delicious and we were more than satisfied. We had a 40% off voucher which made the price very good value. Waitresses were all great, overall a great dining experience.

Stunning place as always, so full of character. We grabbed a midweek offer and was well worthy for a catch up with friends, the food was very good, although remeber it even better (the steak and ale pie). We got two of the roasted lamb and one was unfortunately slightly too fatty and pink. Still very good night out.

On my first ever visit to this place I had fish, garden peas and chips with a pint of Pedigree. The service was very good despite it being busy. The food was well cooked and tasty and the drink was lovely (of course, being Pedigree). The decor and ambience appealed to me whereas the music didn't so much, being ever so slightly too loud for my taste. This is why I gave four stars instead of five. It wasn't enough to stop me going there again though as I turned up two days later and had another pleasant experience - food, service, prices, etcetera.

Went up for the 30% off main courses offer: the rump of lamb, normally £21.95. Brilliant. What I didn't expect was 60% off the portion size. Great veg but the sauté potatoes were as rough as old boots. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Lunch and service good on a very busy Saturday lunchtime. We needed a disabled parking space but the only one available was occupied by an abandoned blue ford with a flat tyre and a lot of moss growing under it. It has clearly been there many months. Why have the management done nothing about it ?

Not great options for vegans. I was under the impression that they had a lot of options according to reviews. Limited starters and mains There's a cauliflower flat bread which seemed too similar to the starter/main The starter was was fine but couldn't tell it was cauliflower. Cooked nicely but tasted a bit bland. Sweet potato curry seems to always be the vegan option at most pubs. Not sure why? It can be quite sickly and overwhelming. (Very small portion of "curry" pricey! The naan bread was dry. Sorry! Lovely pub, nice service and great beer garden. Please have more vegan options, even a burger? Swap sweet potato for fried tofu/plant based chicken or even normal potato. 🙏🙏

I rated service 1 star because I waited 54 minutes for my food, they said that it was busy, it wasn't very busy at all! The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, established in 1904 as part of the Midland Railway's branch line, offers a nostalgic journey through the enchanting Bronte Country. Originally opened to connect Haworth with the railway network after Charlotte Bronte's passing, this scenic route was closed during the Beeching cuts but revived as a preserved line in 1968. Visitors can enjoy vintage steam train rides that evoke memories of classic cinema at Oakworth Station, famously featured in 'The Railway Children.'
Been waiting over 50 years to visit the station made famous in "The Railway Children" and to stand on the platform where Jenny Agatha and all the other cast included the amazing Bernard Cribbins filmed the scenes, was worth the wait. Will be back again in the summer.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway offers a truly delightful step back in time! From the moment you arrive at the beautifully maintained stations, you're struck by the care and attention given to preserving this piece of railway history. The staff throughout the line are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and a bit of information to enhance your journey. But the real magic happens once the train sets off. The views along the Worth Valley are simply fantastic – rolling hills, charming villages, and picturesque countryside unfold outside your window. It's a wonderfully relaxing way to soak in the scenery of Yorkshire. Our visit was made even better by a stop for lunch at The Old Parcels Office Cafe & Bar at Keighley. The food was great, arriving quickly and served with the same warm and welcoming attitude we experienced across the railway. It's definitely a spot I'd recommend for a bite to eat before or after your train ride. Overall, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is a gem. It's a well-run heritage railway that offers a memorable experience thanks to its beautiful stations, friendly staff, and stunning views. Don't miss the chance to enjoy a journey and a delicious meal at The Old Parcels Office!

Called here this morning to see Oakworth station and in the hope that the 10.08 (30.4) was to be a steam train. Not so lol, we were told by the station keeper that they run weekends and everyday in the 6 weeks holiday. We had a lovely chat with this very nice man who has volunteered at the station for some 30+ years. The train we saw was an old diesel. The station rooms and platform are beautiful, when you play a clip of the Railway children at the station (1970 film), it looks quite the same as it is today and we were told pretty much untouched since the war. We will definitely have to return and go on a steam train ride. There is a tea room here just off the platform but it didn’t seem to be open when we visited. So glad we called by. Free easy parking when we visited but there’s also easy on street parking outside the nearby terraced house.

Went to see Railway Children and the following day had a day rover ticket. Very friendly staff who will help you out if you are less mobile. Great way to spend a day riding up and down on the train. Lovely scenery.

Went on the trains through Oxenhope Howarth and Keithley for the 1940s weekend. It was not that much activity, so I was disappointed.

Embark on the "Bronte Adventures In Haworth" with local guide David, as he leads a 5-mile guided walk across Haworth Moor. Follow in the footsteps of the Brontes and explore the untamed Yorkshire moors, visiting attractions such as Bronte waterfall, Top Withens (Wuthering Heights), Alcomden Stones, and Ponden Kirk (The Fairy Cave). David's group walks on Saturdays offer an immersive experience for enthusiasts at a reasonable price.
I had an absolutely fantastic four-hour walk on the Bronte Moors with David. He provided entertaining and informative commentary, and made sure that I was kept safe on a rainy day where there were quite a few slippery spots on the route. He can be seen here testing a route before I embarked on it. I highly recommend his guiding services.
Catherine W — Google review
I don’t have the words to say what a wonderful experience my partner and I had with David on our guided walk. He knows this terrain like the back of his hand and took us on a full day’s journey across the moors. David lives there, he knows everyone and everything about the place, and it was an experience that never would have been possible had we gone on our own or joined a group tour. He took us to locations we wouldn’t have found on the map or known how to access on our own (we crawled through the Fairy Cave! hung out at Top Withens! Saw the specific window in the specific house that was the setting for Cathy’s ghost asking to be let in!), and it was magical. He left us off in Haworth, so we could finish our day with a visit to the Parsonage Museum. If you are visiting the area and want to see the locations related to the Brontes or just experience walking this storied landscape, I really can’t recommend David highly enough.
Kim B — Google review
If you want a great guide to help you explore the moors where the Bronte children rambled long ago, David is the best. A good combination of stories, information, knowledge plus times of silence where I could just soak in the beauty, wind, silence of the green beautiful landscape. Highly recommended.
Jenny R — Google review
David organised a really great private tour for me over the Moors to see the Bronte landmarks, I wanted to see Top Withins but what he delivered was so much more than that. We had the most beautiful 8km hike, taking in the Bronte waterfall and bridge as well as some truly stunning scenery - it was a truly magical afternoon filled with so much joy - I learnt so much and it was really great to be out with someone so passionate about the area. Highly recommend!
Chloe M — Google review
Magical experience. Exploring the beauty of the moors, gazing on wondrous waterfalls, walking through crags and heather. Hearing skylarks, wild grouse and curlews. David took us off the beaten path and was sympathetic to our interests . I highly recommend this walk.
Hannah S — Google review
Really appreciated working with David on trying to plan our day in Haworth. He was so kind and explained things so well. Even though we were not able fit his Bronte walking tour into our schedule for the day, his YouTube video of the tour gave us a great picture of how to get to the places we would have wanted to go to!
Grace W — Google review
David made our trip to Haworth so magical! We were a group of 6 women visiting Haworth as part of our Bronte literature course. Visiting Haworth really helped us understand the setting where the Bronte sisters grew up, but hiking the moors with David gave us a first-hand view of what inspired them to write their marvelous novels. Davids know the trails inside and out and took us to see some of the most important landmarks that would have been around when the Bronte sisters were alive. The moors are a stunning landscape and David takes you to all of the best spots to take in the sights and sounds of Yorkshire. I highly recommend hiring David to take you on a private guided walk of the area. He is a wealth of knowledge and also, the nicest man!
Jenny G — Google review
Had an amazing guided tour on Saturday with David and Jodi taking in the sights of Haworth. Exploring the waterfall, fairy cave and places where the Bronte's were inspired to write was fantastic. We stopped and had a lovely 'mindful' experience led by Jodi, which really tuned us into our surroundings. David was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the length of the walk was spot on. Great idea to start and finish at the Wuthering Heights Inn. Thank you for such an enjoyable time.

Superb micropub / brewery. It's compact but comfortable. Signs of local interest on walls and beams. Clean and welcoming. My pint of bitter was excellent. It's across from the path to the Brontë Parsonage. Recommended

Cracking pub at the top of the hill serving a wide range of ale from the brewery. Also had freshly made sangria. The record shop opposite was playing some music so had a bit of atmosphere outside. 🍻

Ate on a night when celebrating Octoberfest so food was German inspired, good food and large portions and good value. Good range of real ale. Only thing stopping 5 stars it was so very noisy that you could not have a conversation over the table. Just be aware that if paying by card you will have separate bills for food and drink. Apparently it is two separate companies

Natural History Museums
Cliffe Castle, part of Bradford District Museums and Galleries, was constructed in the 1880s as the residence of Henry Isaac Butterfield, a wealthy Victorian textile magnate. The opulent house showcased international art and French decor and hosted lavish social gatherings. The museum now features furnished rooms, costumes, fossils, and domestic artifacts from that era. Some displays reflect the Butterfield family's connections to prominent figures like the Roosevelts of America and members of Napoleon III's court.
A very good place for a educational family day out. The grounds of the castle are enormous, with a bird sanctuary, lovely cafe and acres of beautiful green space. The architecture of the building itself was very impressive, with ceilings in the ballroom and withdrawing room that are works of art in themselves. There is a treasure trove of paintings and artefacts from Japan, China and Egypt. There are also educational interactive collections on geology, industrial history, planets and space and weapons of this time.
Cecilia L — Google review
What a revelation. A grand building full of interesting objects, art, furniture, historic tools used in local industries, all displayed in an easy to understand manor. Rarely have I been so impressed by an impromptu visit. A must see venue if you're in the area. It doesn't end there... walk a little further and enjoy the splendour of the conservatory and adjoining tropical plant house for refreshment. Well done to all those involved in maintaining the high standard of this gem of a place.

Went to see the touring ice age art exhibition which was excellent. In fact the whole visit was excellent as this museum is a real gem. First visit and we were most impressed. Informative, interesting and a wide ranging set of exhibitions. The surrounding park area was lovely also. Nice cafe and coffee. Not our last visit
Martyn Z — Google review
An impressive 'Tardis' of a museum, absolutely packed full of an amazing range of interesting exhibits over two floors. All credit to the local council for following the intended free for all approach, making this a very accessible treat for the eyes and the mind. A pleasant on-site cafe is a great addition, in the former summer house at rear. Exceeded expectations, brilliant.
Russell M — Google review
Could easily spend a day here. So much to see in the house, extensive gardens on several levels, and lots of walk options. Things for children, in the house and outside. Rain not a problem. The cafe was ideal for lunch or afternoon tea with seating inside and outside.

Cliffe Castle is free entry, but they do have a donation box. If you wish to donate. Beautifully kept gardens with fountains. Aviaries with budgies, cocktails, canaries, rabbits, outside. I side the castle is amazing and there is something for everyone. Lots to see and enjoy, they have a small cafe there too and is pram and wheelchair friendly except for the upstairs bit. So if you're struggling, what to do and you don't have a lot of money then this is the place to go.

I really loved my time at Cliffe Castle. It’s such a peaceful place to visit, and the gardens are so nice to walk around and relax in. The museum is interesting too with lots to see, but what I enjoyed most was how calm and quiet it felt. It’s the perfect spot if you want somewhere to unwind, and I’ll definitely be going back again.

Oxenhope Station, part of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, serves as the southern terminus and has retained its original 1960s appearance. The Haddock Express offers a delightful evening ride with organized services, great meals, and live entertainment at Keighley Station. The Elf Explorer Train during November & December is a fantastic experience for children but requires advance booking. The railway is famous for its steam trains, vintage carriages, and friendly volunteer staff.
We had a great time whew. It is dog friendly, which is a plus for us, we bought the tickets on the day. The Staff were friendly and the cafe had a good variety of snacks.

This has got to be one of the best places in the UK, not just Yorkshire. I went there yesterday 15.06.2025 with my husband. Every single member of staff made the whole experience an absolutely fantastic one. We also went on the restaurant car and had afternoon tea (pre booked that) which was out of this world. The gentleman called Ross was so lovely. All the staff were happy to help and guide us with anything. All the staff are volunteers which to me made it even more special as they didn't have to be there Can't recommend this place any more. The steam trains are so well looked after and maintained. Stream drivers, signalmen etc must be so used to having their pictures taken as none of them seems to mind when taking pictures of the trains and buildings they are in.... In fact gave us a big smiles and waves at times. The museum is a must see too... Gentleman there was very knowledgeable and friendly Thank you to each and every person who made our day so very special You are all worth your weight in gold

It's a lovely day out, both the railway itself and the area nearby. The staff are all friendly and chatty and the railway is dog-friendly too. The railway feels very historic and all of the stations are old-time style. I recommend visiting the railway's own Carriages Museum at Ingrow and also the Bus Museum at Keighley. Most of the stations on the line have toilets and some sort of food/drink service. If you only want to ride a steam train, it's worth checking the schedules online before you travel here as they do run both steam and diesel trains.
Pete A — Google review
Get ready to be transported back in time. Back to a slower time of character and sensory delight. It is not a long distance from Keighley to Oxenhope, but you will feel you travelled back 70 years. The noise, smells and ambiance conjour imagination. When was the last time you started a conversation with a random stranger on a train? On the Worth Valley Railway it seems natural to do so, If thus review is useful, please consider following me for more ideas of places to visit. Thank you.
Andrew M — Google review
Good free car park at Oakworth and friendly and helpfull staff at all times at all the stations we visited. Very well presented, clean with a period feeling. Toilets very good, very important. Comfortable steam train ride in historic coaches. Good souvenier and seperate charity shop. Really enjoyed our visit and fully recommend a visit.
Robin L — Google review
Step back in time and take a trip on the beautifully, maintained heritage railway. Check the timetables to see what trains are running as there is a mix of steam and diesel. The steam train normally has a buffet car with a splendid selection of hand pulled ale, or bottled Timothy Taylor ales, you will pass the brewery as you leave Oakworth Station on the left hand side. Oakworth station is of course famous for the Railway Children was filmed there in 1970. At Keighley a visit to the old parcel office is a must for food and drinks, alcohol or non alcohol on offer. The marvellous volunteers make the magic happen, and making your trip that extra bit special. If I did not live as far I would volunteer to help out in any way I could.

Bronte Waterfall is a charming natural attraction located in Haworth, known for its picturesque setting and varying water flow based on weather conditions. Visitors can access the waterfall via the Bronte Waterfall Walk, a moderately easy 3-mile trek from the village center. The walk offers scenic views and encounters with local wildlife, making it an ideal experience for nature enthusiasts. While parking options are available, it's recommended to plan ahead due to potential congestion during weekends.
My walk to the waterfall took about an hour. I walked slowly, trying to capture every beautiful corner with my camera. I was lucky with the warm and sunny weather — everything felt alive with summer. On the way, I was greeted by sheep, and photographing them was a joy of its own. If you’re looking for a place for a photoshoot, go to the waterfall — you’ll definitely take unforgettable shots. And if you simply want to escape the hustle and bustle, this is also the perfect spot to recharge.

Beautiful relatively easy walk. 2 1/2 miles from Haworth or skip a mile and park at beginning of the track. There is also a bus stop close by! Wear good waterproof shoes. Wet, muddy and slippy in spots! Beautiful walk that can be extended to Top Withens. You won’t regret going but watch out for the midges…they are me alive!!

Wonderful walk in the Haworth Moor, full of sheeps and goats on the way :) Brontë Waterfall is a must-go for anyone who comes to Haworth to visit places connected to the Brontë sisters/family. It's easy to portray the sisters enjoying the waterfall and its surroundings on a sunny day in the 19th Century. Really beautiful and poetic!

Be prepared to walk on very rough and steep at times, paths, though I wouldn't describe them as a waterfall, it is very popular beauty spot, we had our packed lunch here after walking from Haworth and then returning to Haworth via another route.

Beautiful walk, took about 50 mins from the carpark but that was with 3 small kids! We took a pram and was fine until the last 10 minutes, where we dumped it and put little one in a carrier. Not a massive waterfall, but very picturesque.

So I didnt actually purchase anything here; however I would like to say how welcoming and the quality of customer service in this shop. I didnt catch the ladies names but I went for a look on Thurs 25th November which was late night shopping . ⭐The shop was dressed to perfection with a stunning colourful tree in the middle which I wish I had got a picture of for this review. . .I would like to mention how on entering I was offered either a sherry or port but not keen so the lady then said she had some Baileys and promptly gave me some and we had some lovely chats and they were very humourous. 😍😂 I thought that the products were fantastic and very locally sourced albeit not in my current budget. Also on leaving the ladies had some spare fairy lights that they passed onto me as they were making the props for the Xmas parade . I left feeling all warm and fuzzy these shop owners are a credit to Howarth and why this type of shop.is so successful. I will be back next year and would love to purchase something hopefully my budget will allow but never forget the kindness of strangers. Thank you and a merry xmas one and all 🤩🎅🧚‍♀️
