Casa de la Julianeta is one of the well-preserved old townhouses in Albarracin, offering a glimpse into ancient times. It's an iconic image of the village and a must-see for visitors. Guided walks are available for those who prefer a more structured way to explore this labyrinthine village. To avoid crowds, it's recommended to visit Casa de la Julianeta when others are enjoying lunch, allowing for better photo opportunities.
It is indeed a quirky yet such delightful building that deserved 5 stars!

Everyone took the same picture from this angle and I did it too. :) I have no idea what it looks like inside because I didn’t have the chance to go into it. But my favorite panadería in Albarracín is located next to this casa, on the slope.

(Translated by Google) La Julianeta is the best example of traditional Albarracinian houses. It's strategically located on a corner and framed by one of the town's arches. The original owner also has a story to tell. It's a must-visit and photograph spot in the small town (population 1,000) of Albarracin. It's government property and entry is prohibited. 👀 This beautiful town offers significant challenges for people with mobility issues: steep slopes, uneven ground, and stairs.

Torre de Doña Blanca is a historic town in Teruel, Aragon that offers a delightful stroll through its picturesque corners, evoking the charm of the past. The popular cuisine featuring top-quality products adds to the allure of this destination. The tower itself, dating back to the 13th century and built on an earlier Arab structure, forms part of Albarracin's defensive ensemble.

Nothing to object, the complex is beautiful, possibly, as they say, the most beautiful town in Spain, except because, as happens in other similar places, it is just a decoration, another museum like Paris, where the only genuine thing is the hospitality and all kinds of comforts for the traveler. Here and there we observe a frozen and renewed beauty. Nothing to object. Nor when you look at armor are you going to pretend that authentic medieval jousting still exists. Architecture, in its entirety, composes a whole that enhances the very landscape in which it is built. (Translated by Google) This Torre de Doña Blanca, or White Tower, was built in the late 13th century and is very beautiful and well preserved. It is located at the southern end of Albarracín, at the end of San Juan Street next to the municipal cemetery. It serves as a watchtower overlooking the gorge formed by the Guadalaviar River and within the city's main walled enclosure (9th century). In fact, the tower is considered one of the castles in the city's defensive system. Its location borders such emblematic buildings as the Church of Santa María, the old Synagogue (Church of San Juan), as well as the ancient ruins of the Convent of San Bruno, the Old Hospital (now the Municipal Museum), and the San Juan neighborhood (the former Jewish Quarter). A visit to this tower is highly recommended, as is the rest of this spectacular city of Albarracín, which is included on the List of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain.

(Translated by Google) The Doña Blanca Tower stands right next to the Church of Santa María. It was part of the city's defensive system, along with the main fortress and the Andador tower, to the north. It is supposedly built on an old Muslim tower since ceramic remains of Arab origin have been found in recent archaeological excavations. In the 17th century it was transformed into the library of the Dominican convent that occupied the current cemetery, and of which the adjacent Church of Santa María was also a part. In 2001 it was restored by the Santa María de Albarracín Foundation, recovering its original defensive appearance. Today it is used as an exhibition hall.

Local history museum
Museo de Albarracín is a carefully curated place that showcases the town's rich history. Housed in a former 18th-century hospital, it was later used as a district prison before being transformed into a museum. The exhibition has been recently improved, featuring significant archaeological finds from excavations at the main Castle and other sites. Visitors appreciate the reasonable ticket prices and the option to combine their visit with a castle tour.
A lovely small museum in a building which was once a hospital. The ticket price is reasonable and cheaper if you are doing the castle visit as well. Each of the displays has a QR code which you can scan to access information in different languages. It's very well done and better than what is available in much bigger museums around the world! Well done.

Fortress
The Walls of Albarracin are the remains of a medieval wall that once encircled the city, offering scenic mountain and valley views. The walls completely surround the historic center of Albarracin and form part of the city's Historic-Monumental Complex. Visitors can enjoy an easy hike with spectacular views and explore cave paintings in the surrounding area. The village itself is charming, with everything made of stone, and there are hiking trails to be discovered across from the city.
Amazing medieval Wall following a very steep ridge. There is a trail up the town side of the wall that is somewhat steep and rocky, but allows access onto sections of the wall itself. Not for the faint hearted, there are no guardrails and the walk is narrow in places with sheer drops. The views are spectacular though so well worth it.

Impressive wall - great time hiking in summer weather. Beautiful view from the top.

Wonderful hike up the hills towards the fortress walls from the village. Hiking shoes are a must as some parts are quite rocky and steep. There are no railings or safety guards so it may be risky with children. The winds were quite strong when we were there. No tickets necessary to explore here.

A fabulous day trip. It’s an easy hike trip. And the views are spectacular. One of my top places to visit. There’s an amazing restaurant as soon as you enter the city. Across from the city is a park and stream. There are more hiking trails there. Must walk to each end of the village as there are distinct views.
Doris L — Google review
Impressive remains of this wall built around the city. The wall works are built in the hills and are clearly visible from practically everywhere in town, and from far away from it too. This is a wonderful complement to this otherwise very charming town. One of the highlights of our 2013 Spain trip.

I enjoyed my visit to the interior of this pretty cathedral. You can only visit by guided tour which departs at set times I think depending on the day of the week and time of year. The tour is in Spanish and sadly I couldn't understand it but was happy to pay the fee to have a look around. Perhaps you could make some brief information sheets for people who don't understand Spanish to take with them on the tour? All in all a good experience regardless.

(Translated by Google) We took a guided tour, which, by the way, is the only way to visit it. Barely an hour was enough to see it and listen to the magnificent explanations from the enthusiastic guide. I have to admit I left somewhat disappointed. I had read so much and so many good things about this Cathedral that I couldn't admire everything I thought I would find. Without going into details for those who want to visit, since it is certainly the most interesting part of the town, suffice it to say that in addition to its extremely unusual layout, it has many imitations of fine materials that are actually painted plaster. However, I insist, it's worth a visit, especially for those who haven't read or watched documentaries before, like myself, and who come with very high expectations.

Portal de Molina is a historical site in Albarracin, featuring two towers connected by a semicircular arch. It served as the old walled exit towards Molina de Aragon and offers insights into defensive strategies with its small covered window and defensive "peephole." The area also provides picturesque views, including the Casa de la Jualianeta, a typical 19th-century house. Additionally, visitors can enjoy nearby accommodations with well-equipped apartments and access to local dining options.

Through this street you also access the Portal del Agua and from there you immediately reach, going down a little, the Paseo Fluvial, or by going up some stairs we will be very close to the cathedral. Ermita de San Juan is an 18th-century hermitage featuring a doorway with a semicircular voussoir arch protected by a portico and a belfry with two openings housing a single bell. Constructed in masonry with ashlar reinforcements, it reflects late Mudejar style dating back to the 17th century. Local researchers suggest it may have been built on the site of the synagogue of Albarracin's old Jewish neighborhood.
(Translated by Google) This Hermitage of San Juan is very beautiful, located on Calle Santa María, towards the southern end of the old town of Albarracín. It is a small 17th-century church, built on an earlier one, which occupied the site the city ceded to the Jewish quarter to house its synagogue. The construction is of masonry with rodeno ashlars at the corners. It has a single nave with a polygonal presbytery and a barrel vaulted ceiling with lunettes. It has a high choir stall at the foot and a pulpit. The doorway is a semicircular arch with large voussoirs, preceded by an open atrium on pillars. Of these, two small pillars with capitals stand out, which would have come from the old synagogue. A visit to this hermitage is highly recommended, as well as to this spectacular town in Albarracín, which is included on the List of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain.

Pizzeria Monty is a delightful eatery that offers delicious pizzas at reasonable prices. The food is tasty and the pizza crusts are particularly enjoyable. The salad dressing, however, could use some improvement according to some patrons. The restaurant also receives praise for its excellent service and cozy atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Additionally, customers appreciate the fact that English-speaking staff are available and lactose-free as well as vegan options are offered on the menu.
100% incredible. Would recommend to literally everyone I’ve ever met. I was having a great time in Albarracin and this then elevated that by a lot. I climbed a 7c and this experience was better than that. Entree, main, dessert that was not even on the menu?! Literally made me like my friends even more. If you are in Teruel and you don’t go here it’s a big mistake. Actually felt like I was saving money when the bill (or lack thereof) hit the table. Don’t make a mistake and not go here

The pizza's were ok. The canneloni wasn't and the vegetarian pasta with mushrooms wasn't either. The atmosphere is horrendous. They have many lights on the wall with like 6000K light bulbs, which doesn't help to create a nice cozy ambience. You rather feel like you're in some sort of a sports cantine. There's no decoration whatsoever, except for 1, antique looking, huge saw on the far end wall, of which I still wonder why that belongs in a pizzeria. They could do so much better in this lovely village of Albarracín, food wise and atmosphere wise.

Bar Restaurante Casino is a former casino turned into a popular meeting spot for locals and visitors alike. Since its establishment in 2001, it has been known as a welcoming place where everyone can gather every day of the year. The portions served here are generous and delicious, featuring items like cheese plates, salads, and patatas fritas. While the service is generally good, there might be a wait during peak hours. However, the stunning views make up for any inconvenience.

Plaza Mayor Albarracín is a cobbled main square surrounded by striking buildings, including the 14th-century Town Hall. The town's winding Medieval streets add to its charm, making it easy to get lost but also part of the experience. Located high in the mountains, this ancient village offers narrow streets and quaint buildings with a wooden Bull ring being constructed in the plaza.
It is a wonderful medieval town full of history. Be prepared to walk up many steep alleys & steps. However, it is well worth the effort.

This is a nice little town square that has an area with a nice little lookout over a part of the town and cathedral. Surprisingly for such a touristic town, there are very few bars, cafes or restaurants on the square. Depending on your viewpoint, this can either be an appealing or unappealing characteristic.

(Translated by Google) Nice view of the town. Be careful, go with good mountain shoes: nothing prepared for visitors, the final part to reach the wall and the tower is dangerous and slippery, especially the descent, where we saw more than one fall and others having to go down sitting down. It's a shame that they don't prepare the arrival or the walls to walk along them.

Bouldering paradise! And great views 🙏🏼

Incredible ancient cave paintings perfectly visible in most places that let you get a glance of the people that could have walked through this land thousands of years ago. Also the pine and fir forest, with some oaks and almond trees, combine with the sandstone makes an incredible landscape worth the view. Most of the walk is paved so it’s perfect for people with mobility restrictions, kids or baby carriages.

Rocks, lots of lovely rocks. Sandstone. Dosen't get much better than that.

A great park to go for a walk from Albarracin. The area is scattered with ancient cave paintings which can be freely observed. The rock arts are mostly inaccessible for the disabled but parts of the park and paintingtshave been made accessible via low gradient paths.

Today we visited the castle and also purchased tickets for Trebuchet Park. The exhibition of siege machines was impressive, and the guide who accompanied us was extremely knowledgeable. He brought the history to life and made it engaging even for those less interested in history. Congratulations to the exhibition team, especially the guide, for their outstanding work. One unforgettable experience was launching a 30kg stone with a siege machine over hundreds of meters.

(Translated by Google) It's a shame that they have abandoned it, with the history it has. Information of Interest: This forgotten castle was, during the Middle Ages, one of the bastions that protected the Albarracín area from raids coming from the south. The surrounding inhabitants were Mudejars or Jews. Albarracín in the 11th century was in the hands of the Berber family of the Banu Razín (hence the name Al-barracín), after the Almoravid rule, and fights between Muslims from Valencia and Murcia, in the year 1147 it came under the command of the well-known Wolf King of Murcia: Abu Abdallah Mohamed ben Mardanis. The passage of this territory into Christian hands took place in the 12th century, either as a conquest or as a transfer from the Wolf King to the Navarrese Don Pedro Ruíz de Azagra. The Albarracín Citadel, a magnificent castle situated in the charming village of Albarracín, can only be visited through guided tours. The Museum of Albarracín provides information regarding tour times and ticket purchases. Although the tours are conducted in Spanish, an impressive English audioguide is available for visitors to enhance their experience with videos accessible via a QR code on their mobile devices. With breathtaking views as an added bonus, exploring this remarkable fortress is highly recommended.
Visit to the castle is by guided tour only - the times are displayed outside the Museum of Albarracin and you buy your ticket from there. The tour is in Spanish but I was impressed by the English audioguide (complete with videos) which I was able to access via QR code on my phone. The tour is definitely worthwhile and you of course get great views as a bonus.

I had checked on Google Map for the business hours before I went. But I failed to enter at 13:00. I then went to the cathedral and had no luck either. It was until I left Albarracín that I found out individual visitors are not allowed to enter without a guide. Well, until next time, I guess.
