Scenic spot
Belvedere Quattrocchi is a must-visit spot in the Aeolian Islands, offering breathtaking panoramic views. From this vantage point, visitors can marvel at the faraglioni rocks, Pietra Menalda, and Pietralunga, as well as enjoy an incredible vista of Vulcano. It's an ideal location to take in the sights of Sicily, Vulcano, and Lipari simultaneously from a high vantage point.
Great view. The kind of place you can almoast not hear the voices inside your head :))
Andrei V — Google review
This is one of the prettiest view points in Lipari. There's also a kiosk here with beverages and some snacks in case you're hungry or just want to have a cold drink while watching this lovely view.
Bianca — Google review
Exceptional view from the viewpoint! There's also a small stall with refreshments. Just be aware of pretty challenging hike up to the top if you're not walking on the road. The path goes through the cacti and some bushes but it's very adventurous after all. Another option is taking a bus right to the viewpoint which costs around 2€/person/journey.
Ema T — Google review
Beautiful view! You can also got cold drink from the kiosk there

The view if Lipari and Vulcano is just spectacular
Timothy G — Google review
The best viewing spot in Lipari. The cliffs of the island and the island of Vulcano can be seen from here.
Josep Q — Google review
It's a beautiful view, good weather, and you can park on the side of the road.
Phetnamkhang S — Google review
It's a long and poorly/un-signposted walk from Lipari but the views are spectacular and the little food and drink stall very welcome.

Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia Valle Muria is a stunning and secluded black stone beach located on the southwestern shore of Lipari. Accessible by a steep 25-minute downhill walk or by boat, this beach offers clean waters and dramatic cliffs, making it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors are advised to come prepared with water and sunscreen for the trek. The area also features a rustic cave-like beach bar where refreshments can be purchased in good weather.
Beautiful and secluded pebbles cove. We walked down from Quattrocchi and main road - it’s relatively steep and took us maybe 25 mins to go from the main road to the beach itself. Good shoes would help! The beach faces the west - so you can have a direct view of the sunset!
Sylv N — Google review
A good 20 min walk downhill than you will find yourself in a beautiful black sand natural beach. Don’r stay too close to the rocks - as the locals are always saying. Great beach for the afternoon.
Imola D — Google review
20 to 30 minute walk. Basicly has 2 different sides. First one is easy to reach. To the other one you need To swim or climb over some rocks. Later one is really quiet. 12-16.00 there was just hanfull of people and its a big Beach! You find some caves with some shaddow. Looked like the Bar was closed forever but i migh be wrong.
Ossi K — Google review
Secluded pebble beach. It's less crowded than any of the other beaches in Lipari. You can also sort of see the sunset from here. It is quite a hike down but it makes reaching the beach so much more worth it. There are sun beds you can rent which is recommended as there's barely any shade. If you get here by bus make sure you don't make the same mistake as I did by not checking when the last bus leaves. RT from the ferry port by bus will cost €3.
Esther L — Google review
Beautiful secluded beach, lovely view and very clear water. Not too much to see while snorkeling though. Wouldn't recommend for older or infirm or to bring small children, it's only accessed by a steep path that takes 30-40 minutes to walk. Quite straining in the heat. Bring plenty of water. There are cliffs that provide some shade, but it's preferable to bring an umbrella since there are rocks falling from the cliffs sometimes, so not good to get too close.
Linnea F — Google review
Nice little beach, best accessible via boat. But you can also drive near the valley and walk for 15min straight to the beach.
Boris R — Google review
Beautiful small beach, all pebbles and no sand. The view is splendid. The path to the beach is ten minutes or so steep downhill and the only way is on foot. Parking is on the road so be careful. No amenities except maybe in summer when a local entrepreneur sells drinks

Island
Lipari, the largest of the Aeolian Islands, is a small volcanic island known for its beaches and ancient fort ruins. The island features a sizeable town with year-round population and some industrial activity. While the town has attractions like the fortified acropolis and pretty harbor of Marina Corta, it's not considered very sophisticated. The island also offers plans to create a 'geo-park' with an eco-museum and thermal baths due to recent mining bans in pumice quarries.
Gorgeous volcanic island with a rich culture and history, a lot of shops and restaurants, beautiful harbour, it’s a really great place to visit!
Jess B — Google review
A beautiful Island and we need to reAch the island via a ferry! I would recommend taking a taxi to visit the entire island in couple of hours!
Pavana P — Google review
We stayed in Lipari for 10 days in October 2018 and loved every moment. We travelled to the isle of Vulcano for volcano climb and it was fantastic. We swam in turquoise water on the Lipari coastline and could see the pebbles on-the seabed in 10 metres of depth . On the last day we did the Stromboli volcano climb to a hight of 950 metres to witness the eruption every several minutes. Would highly recommend a trip to this beautiful archipelago .

If you're looking for a rather natural island, with functional little seaside towns, lots of Seaview and sunsets to discover by scooter, this island is perfect for you! Don't expect "fancy" or "Lorretto del Mar" and you'll have an amazing time here

Nestled within the historic Lipari Castle complex, the Co-Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew is a stunning testament to architectural evolution and cultural heritage. Originally constructed in the 12th century under Norman rule, this magnificent church has undergone various transformations over the centuries, with its current structure dating back to 1861 after significant reconstruction due to seismic activity. The cathedral boasts a spacious and inviting interior adorned with beautiful frescoes that grace its vaulted nave.
If you are going to Lipari this is a must visit! Please climb those few stairs despite of the heatwave because it really worth it. Impressive paints on the ceiling, also please visit the old monastery place - impressive and it cost only 1 €

There is a beautiful statue of St Philomena all the way to the front and then go left. The Old Testament scenes on the center ceiling are awesome. I like particulare the story of Judith. You typically don't see a women holding up a head. I guess that's one way of saying don't mess with Sicilan/Italian women!

Located on the Aeolian Islands, Tenuta di Castellaro is a tribute to the countryside, art, culture, architecture, and technology while respecting the territory and nature. The vineyards are situated in the historic Piana di Castellaro known for its viticulture traditions. Visitors can enjoy overnight stays on Lipari island at this beautiful estate recommended by Alex. The philosophy of this place reflects in the quality of their wines which are well-balanced and made from grapes native to Sicily.
What a wonderful experience. The facility is modern and breathtaking. The views are gorgeous. The cellars and how they were constructed is fascinating. The tastings, both in the winery and the vineyard, were generous and informative, and the woman who worked with us friendly and knowledgeable. The red wine was dense, flavorful and fairly complex. The food served was Sicilian and tasty. All in all, I’ve been to a lot of wineries and this was one of the best.
Richard E — Google review
My family & I came for the sunset tasting. The location and views are breathtaking- some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The wine itself was very good. I gave less stars because 2 hours in we had still only sampled one wine (a small tasting amount). We came to learn and enjoy the setting, but also to taste wine :) The sunset would have been much more enjoyable with at least one more pour. The host, while extremely knowledgeable and gracious, left our group for +1 hour. Just as we were about to give up and attempt to buy a bottle from the store another group’s host led us to the restaurant area where the tasting finally continued. We all thoroughly enjoyed it, we just wish the timing of the tasting was better. It felt rushed once the pouring finally continued.
M R — Google review
We drove 1:45, took a ferry for 1:15 and a shuttle for 20 minutes to get to this winery. Well worth all of the travel we made to get there. The winery was beautiful, the wines were incredible as well as the food and Giuseppe was very knowledgeable and provided great service. Giovanni the shuttle driver was also very friendly. We debated about making the trek to get here, but we were so happy that we did. HIGHLY recommend.
Craig M — Google review
A winery built with love. Magical experience, prime location and great wine. We really enjoyed the tour, learning about the indigenous Sicilian grapes and the winemaking process. It’s impressive that they complete all the steps in place, from growing to bottling. Thanks to our amazing hosts!
Kate F — Google review
This is a must! Beautiful wine, the tour guide and wine expert (Giuseppe) was absolutely brilliant (spoke English for us) and made it super comfortable (it was like talking to a friend). You must go here if you are visiting lipari! Look at the photos!! (Tons of food also for the price!). They say alot about how this place was built, how the wine is stored and created, really informative! Next time, we will stay here :) I heard it's got beautiful accommodation
Tanjim F — Google review
The idea of a picnic in the vineyards sounded perfect and the setting truly was! The location offered sweeping views, making it a fabulous backdrop for a relaxed picnic. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t match the scenery. The picnic spread was underwhelming: a very small platter of charcuterie and cheese, bread was too hard and a pasta salad that tasted as if it had been sitting around for a couple of days. With such a stunning location, it’s a shame the food wasn’t given the same care. A bit more attention to freshness and variety would have made this a five star experience.
Rachel R — Google review
Amazing resort!! Michelle, Barbara, Giuseppe, were welcoming and very friendly. They made you feel like family!! Our wine tasting was delicious and we ended up buying a case of wine!! Unforgettable experience.
Laura W — Google review
A beautiful modern winery set in the stunning Liparian hills. The wine itself was exquisite, we had a white, a red and the dessert wine, all delightful. Francesco was a professional at all times and served us perfectly, a great afternoon out!

Lipari Castle is a prominent historical site with ancient ruins, a museum, and breathtaking panoramic views. The castle houses the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, where visitors can see relics such as the saint's sacred thumb in a silver reliquary. To access the castle, there's a secret entrance from the port that leads to a small stone staircase and into the castle grounds.
This was one of the best ancient history museums I have ever visited and I have been travelling for many years and seen numerous museums. I spent three hours there and could have had another hour but my legs were tired of standing.
Rosslyn K — Google review
The castle was absolutely beautiful, you can buy tickets to the archaeological museum at the top or just walk around the grounds of the Castello. Definitely worth the trek up the hill!

For those who are interested in history, ancient pottery and civilization its a must!!! 8€ per person. Lots of showrooms with archeological items. Super interesting and there are explanations in English. We had only 2 hours and felt we could have stayed more. The panorama from the castel is also beautiful. Well worth the short climb.

Everything is on display, where other museums carefully curate few displayed pieces and keep rest of collection in the vaults here they reconstructed different periods burials or dwelings and than a horde of finds is piled up for visitors to get lost in, sometimes not even behind the glass. On our first visit we stayed till staff literally started turning lights off, so next day we all came back and spent whole morning till it was time to leave marina and sail to next island. If you are someone who enjoys history and museums collections in this one are really something worth exploring.

Museo Archeologico Eoliano L. Bernabo' Brea, located in Lipari, is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts. The museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts dating back to prehistoric times, offering a captivating glimpse into the past of the Aeolian Islands. Notable exhibits include locally discovered items from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages to the Greco-Roman era, ancient shipwreck cargoes, and an extensive assortment of miniature Greek theatrical masks.
As an archaologist I have been to hundreds of museums in my life but none left me speechless like this one. Such rich finds is such a small town blew my mind. I wish I had 5 hours to spent in the museum in stead of one and a half, it was simply not enought to soak in all the information about the Necropolis and the rich history of the town. If you like greek and roman finds this museum is a good reason to visit Lipari from the mainland just on its own. Hope I get a chance to come back.
Tomislav K — Google review
Lovely museum with a vintage feel, reminiscent of the 1950s. While there may be too many items on display, the Italian and English descriptions are always very informative. Room XXI, with its red funerary vases, is worth the trip alone. The dancing Satyrs and Maenads depicted on them are beautifully drawn and embody the full Dionysian spirit ! Don't forget to stroll on the terraces behind the museum.
Vincent M — Google review
You start off with mostly fragments in the first building (BTW, they’re wonderful), but when you get to the third building, you’re inundated by an eye-watering archeological feast. Now in my Top 10 of museums ever. We were practically the only visitors and the staff took the time to go beyond the posted narratives. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

A depth and history of pottery and funeral items. They were diffing stuff up from pre-history all the way to through the Normans. More English signage would’ve been appreciated, but I get it. Visit the on-site church as well and pay the euro for the Norman cloister.
Johnny G — Google review
Very rich collection of amphoras, masks, grave stones etc. Reserve at least 1 hour of your time for visit. Very nice views in the backside of the museum.
Tomas S — Google review
Beautiful artefacts from all ages and many civilisations. Additional access to museum on vulcanology. There is more than you can see in one day. Not crowded, but not cooled everywhere.
Maurice Z — Google review
Excellent museum! There are multiple buildings, dedicated to different domains of research of the islands. Make sure you have at least a couple of hours, for there is a lot to see here. Would rate as a 5, if not for a surprising siesta time for such a major museum and lack of English translations. Though I must note that the views from Acropolis, the cats and the care with which such a vast museum was created and is being maintained, make up for any possible faults.

Cerasella offers exclusive boat trips and private boat tours to the Aeolian Islands. Visitors can hire comfortable modern taxis at the ferry port for island tours or negotiate a detour to Terme di San Calogero for a historical experience. Nando, the captain of Cerasella, provides exceptional service and takes guests on a guided tour around all seven islands with stops at the best swimming spots. The trip includes delicious meals featuring Aeolian pasta, exquisite sweets, and Malvasia wine.
If you find your way to Lipari, you MUST hire Nando for an outing on his beautiful boat, the Cerasella. Nando is an exceptionally wonderful person -- professional, kind and friendly. We were scheduled for a day where there were clouds in the forecast, and he recommended we change days to have the best experience traveling to the neighboring island, I'm so glad we did, although I imagine any day on a boat with Nando would be just as wonderful. We stopped a few times along the way at the best spots to swim. He cooked us the most delicious lunch on board, linguine with clams - fresh fruit and olives for snacks and the perfect wine + beer. He even fished for us on board and caught a beautiful fish with just fishing line and bread (he cooked that too!) But I don't want to give away all of his secrets, you will see for yourself! We cannot wait to return!!! Thank you Nando, you made our honeymoon the most perfect trip. 💜

Great experience overall, we went with our 7 month old son and he enjoyed it. Amazing food by Nando, beautiful views of Volcano, a trip to remember.

(Translated by Google) First of all, Nando (Dad) and Chiara (Daughter) are an unbeatable couple, one nicer and better than the other. Tour really well done, the captain of the boat took us to all the most secret and beautiful coves on the island of Salina. He provided us with good wine and fresh fruit throughout the day. Every time we stopped to swim he provided us with floats even for the most inexperienced people or those who know little about swimming. Finally, the masterpiece was lunch: first course a delicious mouth-watering pasta with clams; as a second course grilled squid with tomatoes as a side dish; and finally for dessert a delicious fresh watermelon. All always accompanied by bottles of white wine of increasingly superior quality. Nando as a guide was always ready to answer all our questions and above all all our curiosities, also telling us small extracts of history regarding the Aeolian Islands. I highly recommend it to everyone. And what's more, the price isn't that high for the experience you're going to have.

Wonderful places and food, prepared by Nando himself, very fresh and cooked to perfection, with typical recipes of the Aeolian tradition. A special thanks to Nando who was an absolutely fantastic guide throughout the day, always available and very nice. Super recommended boat trip and which will certainly be repeated on a future trip to the Aeolian Islands. If you're looking for a cocktail bar with stunning views of the Aeolian Islands, Il Giardino di Lipari is the perfect place. The cocktails are delicious and sophisticated, and the atmosphere is stylish yet relaxing.
We went there for lunch. The restaurant is in a little backyard, hidden between narrow charming streets. Super cute atmosphere, everything is outside and arranged like a little peaceful summer garden. Colorful tables, chill vibe with some music. The menu is very intersting and special, made with local products and love, served in beautiful plates. The antipasti were very tasty and finely prepared. I would recommend anyone to go there, and would go back again !

Food was quite good, location and atmosphere wonderful. There was some confusion about pricing of a steak dish, and the staff did their best to resolve the issue.

The best cocktails and food in a beautiful garden bar. Highly recommend the cocktail with the Italian liquor, red vermouth and orange foam. We also had the fried cheese in honey and ricotta on bread with anchovies. Delicious!

Charming spot with super on point cocktails. The reclining chairs are where the action is, tho you might almost doze off as I did! Tried the Mezcal and Tequila cocktails and both where great!
Ben B — Google review
A great place to visit, a little oasis in the city and with live music later in the evening. Highly recommended for visitors - it is a balanced contrast to the rest of the island.
Andrew S — Google review
To be honest service was not very nice, quite mean when tried to move chairs for one of my friends who had a very uncomfy one. Later several groups came a could move chairs without any comments from waiters, also there were empty of the nice ones. Music was plain and boring. Small gins and tonics. No mirror on toilet. We left quite disappointed as went there thinking it was a nice recomendación, but we order beers and these were quite warm, we could not even finish it.
Carmen C — Google review
Giardino di Lipari is a posh place, it's definitely charming. I would consider this venue just as a cocktail bar rather than a restaurant. The restaurant is shamefully expensive for the plates they serve. The plates are tiny, so tiny that you leave with hunger, they sell them as gourmet dishes but in reality it's just average food not even well presented. The octopus dish is made of an half backed and mashed potato with gummy octopus tentacles (properly cooked octopus is soft) served with 6 crisps that you can find in supermarket vegetables crisps. The arancino is half of the size of a real arancino, there is no rice inside but a mix of whole anchovies resulting in a mix of fish bones. The fried falafels came out as 4 balls of 2cm diameter that taste like canned chickpeas. Avoid like fire if you are looking for a restaurant. It's clearly managed by the (Disney) beagles boys.
Davide V — Google review
Beautiful garden located just around the corner from the main Street of Lipari. You will be seated on sun lounges ( very comfortable) next to a round table, perfect for couples or large groups. I've order the B-Low and the Ginostra. B-Low had a very delicate refreshing taste, that develops while drinking it. The Ginostra felt stronger, and recommended for those who like herbal drinks. The staff was friendly and explained to us what drinks are best for aperitivo and what drinks should be ordered after dinner. The aperitivo comes with four cubes of pizza and three arancini (made with Alici). Would have assigned 5 stars if there would have been something extra, and if the waiter would have come back with the WiFi password 🥲 Highly recommended! Will come back to try after-dinner cocktails.
