The Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center (TMBCC) in Bloomington is a hidden gem dedicated to preserving and sharing Tibetan and Mongolian cultures. Located in a residential area, the center's grounds boast unique architectural features such as Tibetan Chortens and the Mani Korlo, making it a peaceful and culturally rich destination. Visitors can take guided tours, participate in workshops or retreats, and enjoy meditation on the serene outdoor grounds.
This is a beautiful Buddhist temple with Mongolian. We had an amazing time walking through the peaceful, natural surroundings such a serene and uplifting energy. There’s also a gift shop if you’re looking for meaningful items for your home or office. I didn’t see any monks during our visit, but it’s best to call ahead and make an appointment if you’d like to connect with one. Also, every Wednesday from 6 to 7 PM, there’s a meditation session open to anyone who wants to come, pray, or simply sit in stillness. It’s a truly beautiful place and always welcoming.

Something about this building just felt off. Our first thought upon approaching this was the oddness of the neon sign in the window, which didn't feel like it fit, but we didn't allow that to deter our journey. A couple pulled into the parking lot shortly after we arrived, and I think the woman (by the look on her face towards us several times) did not like the fact that we were there. Perhaps she felt we did not fit in or belong, or maybe I was just reading too much into her facial expressions. The library is wonderful with many beautiful works of art, and is the main draw of this building. This room had a much more positive energy to it. There are many books here to gain enlightenment, and it felt like a peaceful place for meditation and knowledge. There's a gift shop here, that felt a bit chaotic. I understand the need for money, it is the world we live in, but something about it felt very negative. I worked many jobs in my life where I did not feel like I was contributing something positive to the world, so I left to pursue something more meaningful. This is the same feeling I had while here. Honestly, other than the library, this building had negative vibes for us.

We live directly across from the Tibetan Center and it’s such a beautiful place to visit. There’s so much to look at and just walking around looking at all the sculptures and displays make for a relaxing day. We see some Buddhist occasionally and everyone we’ve met are so awesome and willing to chat with you. We are not from this faith, however we always feel welcome and are greeted by a hello and a kind smile. On the premises they offer a worship temple, gift shop, many outside displays, a Lilly pond, clean restrooms and they even have cabins that can be rented out. I think there are 4 cabins and I’m thinking last year they told me $100/night for rental. (Please check, I could be wrong about the pricing). Plenty of parking and easy access.

I visited this place this weekend, and it’s an amazing place to relax. It has a beautiful history and a special energy you feel as soon as you arrive. While some areas could use a bit of maintenance, it remains a magical and peaceful space.

Indiana University Bloomington, the flagship campus of a prestigious institution and home of the Hoosiers, is at the heart of the community. The park-like layout offers scenic stops with fountains, green spaces, and historic academic buildings. Established in 1820, it has been integral to defining Bloomington for over two centuries. Unofficially known as a public ivy-league school, it rivals top ivy-league colleges.
Love the campus! So much history and beauty. So many students are willing to help for anything you need. Everyone seems so nice, even the squirrels. Food on campus is good too. Would recommend a walk around the campus.

I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the current political climate at Indiana University. As a degree holder from IU, I believe the institution is failing to uphold the fundamental principles of freedom of speech, press, and protest. It appears the administration is bowing to a political party, which is creating significant division. A university's primary role is to foster education and protect rights, but the current administration's actions demonstrate a departure from these core values.
Justin G — Google review
Age limits space so it feels a bit tight. Our room was supposed to be a queen mattress but it felt more like a full instead. No microwave in the room meant you had to buy breakfast from them.
Scott C — Google review
Wonderful university to attend. I love Indiana University. My only regret was not going there all 4 years in college (transferred there). This is easily one of the most, if not the most, beautiful campuses out there. Staff and students are all friendly and the Big Ten culture is great! GO IU! Go HOOSIERS!

Academic institutions should not cave to politics. The cornerstone of academia is freedom of thought and ideas. Democracy dies in the dark.

Such an amazing school with a relatively large beautiful campus! Indiana university and especially Kelly school of business is ranked number 1 in the entrepreneurial field of studies. Indiana offers hundreds of academic programs across multiple campuses and online.

A stunning blend of history, nature, and culture! This place is the heart of Bloomington and a must-see for visitors. With its gorgeous limestone buildings, charming walking paths, and rich arts scene, it offers something special for everyone. Walking through the iconic Sample Gates, I felt the welcoming spirit of the campus. I loved exploring the peaceful paths, especially in the fall, when the trees burst into brilliant colors. The Eskenazi Museum of Art was a highlight, with impressive works from around the world. I also enjoyed the quiet beauty of the Rose Well House, where tradition says couples kiss for good luck. Music lovers shouldn’t miss a performance at the Jacobs School of Music, which often hosts free concerts featuring talented students. I found the campus easy to explore on foot, with plenty of spots to stop, relax, and enjoy the scenery. This place is more than a university, it’s a hub of art, history, and nature. Whether you’re here for a tour, a concert, or a peaceful walk, it’s a perfect way to experience the spirit of Bloomington.

The Eskenazi Museum of Art, located at the heart of the Indiana University campus, is a captivating destination for art enthusiasts. Designed by I.M. Pei, known for his work on the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, this museum boasts a soaring atrium and houses an extensive collection of over 45,000 objects from various cultures and time periods.
Parking: Follow Google maps almost all the way to the museum on the IU campus. Find the big red attendant kiosk that says "Permit Parking Only" (or something like that). Drive up to the kiosk and get a ticket from the attendant. For every half hour parked, you pay around $2.50. I stayed for about 2.5 hours and paid $15. Free admission. Beautiful museum full of equally gorgeous art. You can spend hours upon hours here. Many student attendants are walking about to help you. Elevator within the building for the 3 floors, but the stairs are pretty flat and easy to walk up if you're able. I recommend you come at least once when you visit Bloomington.

This place is amazing!!! The best art museum I have ever visited in a public university. What an incredible gift this donation was to the university.

What an awesome art museum. I was super impressed and beautiful architecture. Highly recommend going. They a a Picasso and also a Monet. Not sure if they are always on exhibit, but also had many other amazing artists.

I will never look at African art the same way after all I learned in their African Art wing. When we went to pay for admission we found it was free. But parking was steep.

A fantastic place to visit!!! I highly recommend it. This museum displays great artwork 😍 for you to enjoy to your heart's content. Particularly they have very famous paintings from great artists like Picasso and Monet s among others. Also you will enjoy sculptures, pottery, etc. The cost of the entrance is free so stop by the cafe to enjoy delicious pastry -as we did-. Also they offer sandwiches and drinks.

Went primarily to see the Steinberg exhibit- don’t miss this! - and was delighted by the building. Gorgeous. If I was a student, I would visit daily in the winter to sit under the amazing windows and watch the sky. Video exhibit: see this. I forgot to note the name- worthwhile

Absolutely gorgeous museum! Their collection rivals that of museums in major metropolitan areas, but it’s on a beautiful college campus instead! They could charge for what they have curated here but thank goodness they choose not to. This is a must visit when you’re in town!

This place was incredible! My sister brought her service dog with her and they were so nice and accommodating they ignored her and only talked to the handler. The accessibility of this place is Phenomenal! They have wheelchairs for use inside the museum. They have someone in every room to be there if someone needs help. This place was incredible the only thing I feel like made it a little bit hard to enter each exhibit was the doors they were pretty heavier and my dad pushed my sister in and then he had to grab one of the doors because we had to get my sister in the wheelchair and her service dog in other than that the exhibits were really interesting and unique. Oh and I forgot to mention entry is completely FREE!

The Bloomington Community Farmers' Market is a beloved destination in Bloomington, offering a wide variety of locally produced goods. Visitors can explore an array of carefully arranged food items, desserts, and local coffee to kick start their day. The market also features fresh produce, cheese, bread, jewelry, gifts, and plants. With numerous vendors and a bustling atmosphere, it's an ideal place to immerse yourself in the vibrant community spirit while discovering high-quality products.
Went to the Bloomington Community Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning and it was fantastic! We bought some fresh produce, baked goods and other products. Everything was fresh, wholesome and delicious! The vendors were very nice and easy to interact with. I highly recommend a visit to this great farmer's market right in Bloomington!

Our 1st time visiting and it was incredible. So many vendors and farms represented, it was hard to decide who to purchase from. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous! Everything looked so good. We enjoyed the artisans and live music. I'm always looking for real wholesome food offerings and gluten-free options to make the experience 5 star.

I thought it was going to be bigger but there was only a small stands and I’m wasn’t so lucky I guess:( I brought couple staffs (sourdough bread, onions, chili plants, honeys, coffee and stuffs and also paid $16 for 5 tomatoes 😂) but it’s about experience!

@bloomingtonmarket may be the best farmers market I’ve been too (sorry Raleigh but you’re a close second). Some honourable mentions for our first go round. @muddyforkbakery They mill their own grains and bake in a wood fired oven. I’m excited to take a baking lesson there one day. @mkonofarm “swinery” doing pork raising right. Excited to try your products. I am a pork chop snob and there is nothing better than a thick cut excellent cut. @breadandrosesgardens Excited to try your sauerkraut. If you know anything about Indiana you know there is lots of corn here. The fact there was a line for McCullough’s Sweet Corn has me intrigued. Next time I’ll give it a try. The onion lady was so just the sweetest person. I may only buy onions from her when in Indiana. Honestly every urban kid should have an opportunity to come to an area like Bloomington to see how food is grown and meet farmers that care. They would learn that farming is a great and noble profession. AND there is nothing more delicious than food bought at the farmers market. #farmers #midwest #hospitality #food #produce #farmeggs #pork #porkchops #farmersmarket #bakery
Sophia B — Google review
First time going to this farmers market on Sept 2nd at 10:30am. There are a TON of vendors. Honestly, the layout doesn't really work to make sure you see all vendors. There were a couple of vendors on the sides of the market and back 3rd row that had no customers near it. The awning seems great for vendors (instead of a tent, but the majority of them were still in the sun). Plenty of customers! I found parking on the street nearby. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, flowers, honey, cheese, meats, bread, jam and syrup, etc. I chose a flower bunch, cheese curds, sourdough bread, jam, watermelon, peppers, lettuce, a massive onion, etc. They continue at this location through October. Then, they switch to the winter market location through March.

The B-Line Trail is a popular urban pathway in Bloomington, stretching 3.1 miles from Adams Street to Country Club Drive and linking with the Bloomington Rail Trail. The well-lit trail is perfect for cycling, skating, walking, or jogging at any time of day. It offers a safe and clean environment for outdoor activities and passes through downtown before leading to Switchyard Park and connecting to a scenic gravel trail through the woods.
A top safe clean trail to bike, skate, walk or jog. If you are into trails and are visiting Bloomington is right next to the Hyatt Place. The early part of the trail is paved as it goes through downtown and going south you pass some cool colorful homes and cross a bridge and into a nice new park (Switchyard park) to finally connect to a beautiful older compacted gravel trail through the woods. The trail also suppose to go further north but I did not explore that part. You can walk one hour south from the Hyatt Place and still not reach the end of the trail. There are just a few intersections where you have to worry about traffic (be aware some dummies don't understand that they are supposed to stop when someone is crossing the clearly marked zebra, so be careful when you cross). Lots of people so pretty is safe (specially the paved areas which is busier before the trail goes into the woods) during the day hours. I even saw security in a special cart come by a number of times, but not sure if they go pass the paved area and into the woods part of the trail, but don't worry the safe (paved) part of the trail is long enough if you start around the hotel. If coming from elsewhere there a big parking area by the kid playground at Switchyard park where you can park your vehicle. It is a very nice trail.

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater, affectionately known as the Bus-Chum, was originally constructed in 1922 as a silent-movie house and has undergone a stunning restoration. Today, it hosts a variety of events including musical performances, local festivals, theater productions, film screenings, and stand-up comedy shows. The venue has welcomed renowned artists like John Mellencamp and Five for Fighting while also showcasing local talent.
Always a great time at Buskirk-Chumley. There’s not a bad seat in the house, and all the performances feel like they’re close and connected. Bloomington wouldn’t be the same without it!

A well kept, historical theater to watch movies, concerts, comedy shows etc. Plenty of variety for everyone.
Jim P — Google review
Went to see Jeff Tweedy on Thursday 11/20. The music was great, but 4 people sitting in the row in front of me were talking loud enough for everyone nearby to hear for the entire show. Now obviously, there’s only so much a venue can do about people talking, but then halfway through the show, a few members of the group decided to try to be trendsetters and stand up in an attempt to get everyone to stand up. No one followed suit, but they continued standing and blocking the view for myself and the gentleman next to me. After about 10 minutes of this, a different member of the audience asked them politely to sit down, to which they rudely replied that they would continue standing. At this point, the audience began to yell at them to sit down, and all but one of them did. Finally, a staff member came over and asked the last remaining person to sit, but she refused again, and the group began to heckle Mr. Tweedy asking his opinion on if the audience should stand up. Mr. Tweedy had to take the matter into his own hands, telling the audience which songs to sit or stand for during the rest of the performance. I’m writing this review because I believe it to be the duty of the venue to deal with disruptive audience members, and they failed to do that during this show even when it caused the show to be interrupted multiple times.

Took the family to see Newsies, the Disney musical, for Christmas. This quaint little theater is in great shape and restored nicely. Overall a fun experience but found it difficult to hear the actors over the orchestra and will probably sit farther away on my next visit.

101 years old theatre! A historic gem with charm, character, and incredible performances! This place is the heart of live entertainment in Bloomington. From concerts and film screenings to theater productions and community events, it offers something for everyone. Walking into the theater, I was struck by its beautiful 1920s architecture, with its vintage marquee lighting up the street. The intimate setting means every seat has a great view, and the acoustics are fantastic, making it a perfect place to enjoy live music or a film. I attended a local music performance, and the experience felt warm and personal, with a great connection between the performers and the audience. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and helpful, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. I also appreciated how the theater supports local artists and community events, making it a true part of Bloomington’s cultural life. This place is more than just a theater—it’s a space for creativity, community, and unforgettable performances. Whether you’re here for a show, a movie, or just to admire the historic charm, it’s a must-visit in Bloomington for lovers of the arts.

Museums
WonderLab Science Museum in Bloomington, Indiana is an award-winning children's museum that aims to spark curiosity and excitement for science through interactive exhibits and programs. The museum features the Fitzgerald Hall of Natural Science with live insects, amphibians, and reptiles, the Bubble Flow exhibits for exploring 'soapy science,' and an outdoor WonderGarden.
I highly recommend taking advantage of the free membership for first time parents. Our daughter is only 10 months old but her face lights up when we go to the WonderLab because she LOVES the toddler/infant play area. I can already see how much she will continue to love everything they offer when she’s older, but we can easily spend an hour or two in the toddler corner where she can crawl around and climb safely and play with new toys. It’s nice to take an infant on a freezing winter day when other kids are in school and it’s pretty quiet in there!

Had a great time here with my toddler! The price is a bit steep, but I think it's totally worth it considering there's so much to do. I also really appreciated that your ticket price is valid all day, even if you leave and come back. Staff members were very kind and welcoming as well! Thanks for a great time!

A huge thank-you to the amazing team at WonderLab for attending a recent First Aid and CPR course with CPR BTown! Their staff was curious, engaged, and brought the same enthusiasm to learning life-saving skills that they bring to making science fun for the community. We’re also incredibly appreciative to WonderLab for generously allowing us to use their space to host community CPR classes. It’s a joy to partner with an organization that’s as committed to education, safety, and community impact as we are.

My kids are 12, 7, and 6 and they all had so much fun. My 6 year old is disabled and can't walk but he was able to enjoy so much there. They have socks for one area if your kid doesn't have any on. They also provide ear muffs if the noise is too much for your kiddos. There's an elevator that leads to the second floor, too. Overall, it was a fun experience and we would go back again.

Wylie House Museum, built in 1835 for the first president of Indiana University, Andrew Wylie, is now a museum showcasing period furnishings and offering guided tours to the public. Operated by Indiana University Libraries, this historic house provides educational programs and research opportunities for students and faculty. The architecture reflects Wylie's wealth with a blend of Federal and Georgian styles. Visitors can explore the beautiful heirloom gardens and get a glimpse into life in the mid-19th century.
Very small local museum run by IU. Very hot in the summer, but enjoyed the visit!

Step back in time and experience life in 19th-century Indiana—this place is a hidden treasure for history lovers. With its beautifully preserved rooms and authentic artifacts, it offers a fascinating glimpse into Bloomington’s past. During my visit, I was warmly welcomed by the knowledgeable tour guide, who brought the history of the house to life with engaging stories. I loved seeing the original furniture, quilts, and photographs, which made me feel like I was walking through the daily life of the Wylie family, the first president of Indiana University. The heirloom garden outside was a lovely touch, filled with plants that would have been grown during the 1800s. The tours are free and small in size, giving visitors plenty of chances to ask questions and explore at their own pace. The house is also well-maintained and peaceful, making it a perfect spot for history lovers and anyone curious about Bloomington’s early days. This place is more than just a museum—it’s a window into Bloomington’s rich history. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s a must-see destination that connects you to the past in a personal and meaningful way.

Cool historical house belonging to the first president of the university. Really enjoyed the contemporary art that was designed to address some of the missing parts of the story. Overall, pretty cool.
Susi L — Google review
The historic house of the first president of Indiana University has been turned into an interactive experience. There are no roped off areas and you can get surprisingly close to the artefacts (an old piano, porcelain dishes, antique dolls, cooking implements, and much more). Especially interesting is a baby doll with two faces, one white and one black, on opposite sides on the head. You are certainly welcome to view the house at your own pace but I strongly encourage you to take the free tour led by university students from the history department. The tour pushed the experience up to 5 stars. Pro Tip In the kitchen area, they are giving out spices and herbs reminiscent of the old days. Take some home, make a little tea and reflect on your Wylie House experience, if so inclined.

Really enjoyed this tour. We were the only ones so we got a private tour. The young woman, grad student, was very nice and personable. We had a great time, learned a lot. We were even going to come back the next day but decided on checking out Nashville instead. So much to do in this area.

We went here for a history class trip. I had never known about it before even though I've been in Bloomington for three years now. But, I can say that it is a really hidden gem of Bloomington History. It's easy to overlook, but there's a healthy bit of history tucked away in the neighborhood. The tour was well-guided and we were able to see many recreations and antique items from the mid 1800s. Would recommend if you've never been!

Awesome! If you’re in town, definitely check it out! They offer free tours too (not sure if it’s only for students but I think it’s for everyone!) There’s tons of history at this place and the tour guide explains it all!

Thank you for allowing me to volunteer on Saturday 7/17/2021. I thoroughly enjoyed myself pulling weeds and helping contribute to such a historical museum. Emma was a great lead and helpful in allowing me to come out that morning. I will continue to volunteer here and help the garden thrive.

FARMbloomington is a popular all-day cafe in downtown Bloomington, offering a funky vintage vibe and modern farmhouse-inspired cuisine. The restaurant's eclectic, light-filled space attracts locals and visitors alike for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch. Known for its famous garlic fries and global flavors, the menu features dishes like local bison burger and Caribbean-inspired salmon filet.
Always wanted to come here for the Garlic Fries ($11) and I was not disappointed! We shared it among three, but honestly, enough Appetizer for 6! The drinks were great! I had a Cocktail ($16) which was memorable and Friday Salmon ($31) as the main, which was exceptional. We were St the bar as we didn't make a early reservation (It books out a lot) and the staff there was the best. Really enjoyed a lot and can't wait to come back for more!

Enjoyed brunch at FARMbloomington this weekend! Made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon but probably didn't need it. Absolutely loved the calamari and Brussels sprouts appetizers. The chai latte was also very tasty! The entrees were also good but the appetizers stole the show. Everything made fresh and staff all very friendly!

Food is overrated. The pesto pizza doesn't have much flavor despite being bright green. The regular burger was dry. The bacon in the BLT was over-cooked. The garlic fries have too much lime juice. The Buffalo burger was pretty good, though. Server was nice & helpful. The restaurant is neat, but I took off 2 stars because I looked up once at the large TV on the wall & they were showing a naked stripper. Probably wasn't intentional, but please keep public things PG. There are kids around.

Pictures look good but it was bad... I went with a group of five people. We had reservations and stopped by while passing through the campus. Honestly, the only positive interaction we had was when the hostess greeted us and walked us to our table everything after that was disappointing. Our food took forever to arrive. Our table was right next to the kitchen, and we could literally see our plates just sitting there getting cold. It wasn’t even a complicated order we all had burgers. When they finally arrived, they were cold and just not good. The potato salad that came with them was not it, and it honestly felt like a strange combination (cold potato sour salad). On top of that, adding cheese to a burger was an extra $4–$5, which felt excessive. The service was equally bad. Our waitress came to take our order and later to drop off the food, but never once checked in on us. We tried getting her attention multiple times, but it seemed like she was avoiding our table, even though we saw her helping other tables. The restaurant wasn’t even busy maybe three other families and there were other staff around, yet no one came by to check on us. Overall, it was a negative experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The food and the vibes are just not it. Go somewhere else.

Outstanding dining experience at FARM Bloomington! As a shared dish the famous garlic chili fries were served. Just delicious! The NY strip steak was cooked to perfection - beautifully seared medium with incredible flavor. The beef tenderloin was equally impressive, tender and seasoned just right with crisp cellophane noodles on top. Don't miss the three meat lasagna, it has the perfect kick and layers of rich, savory goodness. The noodles with shrimp were another highlight, perfectly balanced with fresh seafood and expertly prepared pasta. Special shoutout to our FARMhand Emma who made the evening truly memorable. Her sense of humor was spot-on, timing was impeccable, and she struck the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. You can tell she genuinely cares about creating a great experience. FARM Bloomington delivers on both exceptional food and service. Highly recommend for a special night out or any time you want farm-to-table excellence done right!

Great menu and delicious food❤️ the ketchup was so good I bought a bottle to take home . So nice to have more than 1 option for vegetarian or vegan. The garlic fries super good no leftovers we ate them all. Thanks much to the owner

This place is incredible!! The service is 10/10, Nicole & Ronnie are angels. The bar makes amazing drinks, the pornstar martini is SO GOOD and they have the best espresso martini in town. Tried multiple brunch items including the brie which is to die for, the garlic fries are worth the hype, and the the calamari is the best i’ve had in Bloomington too. Also tried several desserts: carrot cake and fudge cake- OMG so good! If you love peaches, you have to try the cobbler. Will be back to try more brunch & dinner items! One of the best restaurants Bloomington has to offer!

Enjoyed a lunch of braised beef tacos and a few glasses of wine. The bar selection here is extensive! Food was delicious and the size of the meal was more than I could handle. North outdoor and indoor dining with fun interior considering of lots of old knick knacks. Staff was fabulous for a first time visitor to the restaurant.

Pizza restaurant
Mother Bear's Pizza Campus is a local landmark in Bloomington, Indiana, with two locations serving the students and faculty of nearby universities. Voted the best pizza joint for ten consecutive years, it offers a variety of options including deep-dish pizzas, American snacks, beer, and wine. The restaurant is known for its traditional pizzeria style decor and a menu that includes vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options alongside popular toppings like pepperoni and meat lovers.
Have not been to Mother Bears pizza since leaving Indiana University in 1990. Their new location a block from original on 3rd Street did not disappoint, atmosphere was great, lively, warm and comfortable. The menu all sounded delicious but ultimately settled on half Palermo and half Deluxe pizza, great recommendation by our server Sarah, she was super nice, attentive and overall great server and service! I can't wait to visit Bloomington and IU for another visit to Mother Bears Pizza!!

We ordered a vegetarian large pizza; customized it a little with a couple added toppings. We asked for well done but it was not. The extra sauce requested was cold on top of the cheese which is kind of bizarre; it seemed that they forgot to put extra sauce as requested and ended up just smothering it on top and served it cold. Anyway, it wasn’t as good as we thought it would be but we will be back another time to give it a second go. The girl told us 20 minutes wait time - ended up being 40 plus minutes.
Deedee B — Google review
Really fun place. Amazing atmosphere and service. Very much appreciated the vegan options. The strawberry lemonade was fantastic. Unfortunately I was not a fan of their pizza sauce - too over seasoned with oregano, sugar, and pepper. But overall had a great time there!

Four of us stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. Seated promply and ordered mushroom appetizers and a couple of pizzas. Apmisphere was college town fun and everyone has left their mark..... on the walls! :). Food was amazing. The pizza was incredible. The service was a bit lacking as I had to track down someone to pay my bill.

I’m always ify with local pizza shops and what people suggest especially in a small town-ish town, but deng. That was good. I’ve only been in this town once but I do hope that I find myself here again. I spoke to people in town as well as doing a mini google search on the places around. This one took the cake in just a few minutes. I didn’t know what to expect and all I wanted was a pizza and not to hate it. I didn’t hate it in the slightest. I got a personal pizza but seriously, it was enough to win me over. The simplicity of something and have it still tastes really good; I’m here for it. Of course, the restaurant was busting with laughter and conversation with people enjoying themselves on a weekday for dinner. The parking lot attached to the restaurant is quite small so there might be some street parking you can find. I would come here again and try more of their menu. I recommend this place if you like pizza whether you’re from around here or out of town. Once is enough to possibly want more.

We always order the deep dish pizza and it never dissappoints! So good! The breadsticks are delicious too! 😋

Hands down some of the best pizza I've tried. It reminds me of an upgraded version of the crispy pan pizza Pizza Hut used to serve before they changed their recipe. We arrived one hour into closing and the pizza still arrived hot and fresh from the oven. The cheese pull was on point, the crust perfectly toasted, and the sauce just right. The portion sizes and quality matched the price. Service was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. 9/10 would recommend.

Mother Bear’s storied tradition lives on at the Indiana University campus location. Great student vibe. MB’s award winning pizza does not disappoint. There is also an “almost” gluten free crust which my daughter orders and has no gluten issues with it. MB’s Stromboli is my favorite, but I would prefer bread and butter pickles instead of dill. Even so, the sauce and sausage have the right amount of kick. This is one of my favorite sandwiches in town. The salads are also excellent.

The brewery has gained recognition as the local beer in the fictional town of Pawnee from the television show 'Parks and Recreation.' With 20 years of experience, Upland stays true to its artisan, progressive spirit while brewing remarkable beers. Visitors can enjoy loaded nachos and sandwiches while savoring various beers on tap.
This is a nice brew pub with really good food and beers. Our server was excellent. I wish I wrote down her name so I could give a shoutout, but she was great. Bringing drinks for the kids and she was super nice. We had the Spinach dip, wit mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwich, inferno burger and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. All the food was good and we had a couple beers we enjoyed as well. This is a good, solid choice if you're with a family or mixed group because they have something for everyone.

I ordered the Classic Burger with Jalepeno Cheese and Brewery Fries. The burger was char grilled medium well. It was delicious! Not dripping with grease when you bite into it. Highly recommend!

First time here. We had samples of specialty beer of the night which was a wheat ale. Beer was refreshing in humid 90 degree night. We ordered the turkey & guac and Bad Elmer’s burger. Both sandwiches were tasty and filling. The burger was cooked medium well with pickles and grilled onions. I also requested some bbq sauce for the fries. The potato salad was little too heavy on the mayonnaise. I could taste the dill and the peas, but salad dressing didn’t settle as well on the stomach. I was a little surprised by the bill. They listed how much some of the extras would be on the menu. I’ve never been charged for bbq sauce before when I asked for it for my fries. Therefore I was little dismayed when the bill came and I saw that my burger cost had gone up with the charges. I would come back to eat, but beware of hidden charges. I also took home the bbq sauce out of principle.

Since we were in Bloomington for a few days, we decided to try a place we had heard about but hadn't been to. What was particularly appealing to me was the Seitan Nashville Hot Chicken. Sadly, it just just ok. There's a specific way to make NHC - it's not just pouring sauce over something I will say the Blue Cheese Slaw was delicious though. We had a large party and mine was the exception. The impossible burgers were impossibly large (see what I did there?) and everyone that had them thought then great. And the brussel sprout appetizer was also yummy Definitely a return to on my next trip

I visited her at 7pm on a Tuesday. I had the Pulled pork sandwich with habanero sauce (on the side) and fries. To drink I had two glasses of the Elmer Porter. The pulled pork was a bit on the dry side. But overall delicious. I loved the sauce, pleasantly spicy but not overwhelming. The fries were fresh and crisp. The Porters were the star of the show though. Delicious. Notes of chocolate, with a smithwicks style finish. If you enjoy Porters you love this one. The service was fast, kind and attentive. Restaurant was clean and orderly. Busy but as one would expect in a college town. Parking was easy accessed, but full. Got lucky with someone heading out. Would go again if given the option.

Breakfast restaurant
The Runcible Spoon is a charming and whimsically decorated eatery located in Bloomington's downtown district. It offers casual cafe fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The eclectic Bohemian-style decor sets it apart from other restaurants in town. With four distinct seating areas including a front patio resembling a secret garden and a Victorian library-themed main level, the restaurant provides a unique dining experience.
Went here for breakfast on a cold winter morning. The place was quite bustling despite the quiet morning. Had a few college kids and a couple of families. The food was very good and the coffee, great. The service was pretty good as well, despite the busy morning. They might have to look into the furniture a little bit - I get what the atmosphere is supposed to be like, but fixing up some of the furniture so that customers could sit comfortably enough.

The atmosphere was not really our style. We did receive excellent service the entire time we were there. The food was generous portion sizes. My wife was able to split The Weekender with our two girls. Overall we had a good experience, but probably won’t be back.

The service was expeditious. I was waited on and she was pleasant. The food was disastrous. It tasted like it had been on a warmer for an hour or microwaved. My eggs tasted like rubber and no seasoning. I dont know why my food was cold..but one can only ponder. Shall return again for another chance. My dear associate says the eggs tasted like the days of the army. And the food tasted just like the ambiance...bland. But I did what any well mannered citizen would....I tipped my waiter 25 percent and wished her a good day. #black #missourian

I went for a brunch date with my boyfriend on Halloween, we were sat in the basement near the kitchen and had the pleasure of enjoying the kitchens costumes, music, and laughter! Delicious breakfast in a cool old house with lots of interesting decor. Service was quick and friendly, no issues. Excellent food; spectacular service. We came straight from our Latin tournament at IU 🏛️, and we were very tired and hungry. Daniel went out of his way to make sure we had everything we wanted (including honey for my husband's tea 🍵, butter for my extra crispy English muffin, and switching my caffè Vienna to an Ode to Pisces: pistachio syrup, rose water 🌹, espresso, and milk ☕). I am a true Pisces, and I can confirm that the drink was a perfect match for my taste buds and for my soul. Every time we asked for something, Daniel went up a flight of stairs and produced it instantly. We really enjoyed talking to him -- he made our brunch very enjoyable, and he treated us like we were the most important people in the world. My husband loved his crispy home fries, and my smoked salmon was legendary. The onions were perfect. Even the lemon wedge was just right. The last bite of salmon put me in Nirvana ✨

The food was very fresh and had great flavor. We sat outside on the patio which we would highly recommend. The server was attentive too. Highly recommend them adding a chicken salad sandwich to the menu. There is NOT ONE currently but apparently myself and others have order their chicken salad and thought it would be a sandwich, not a regular salad. Either way they were really nice about the mistake and the grilled cheese I got was delicious. I bet they would make a good chicken salad though!!

Ive been coming here for over 20 years. Nick's has the best Italian beef in Indiana (add provolone grilled onions and grilled peppers!), locally sourced burgers to die for, a really great bourbon selection, and the best waitress I've ever met.... Moriah is the most adorable and attentive lady ever and keeps me coming back nearly every weekend with my friends and family to chat it up! One time she even personally ran to my elderly mother's car to replenish her meter (I think it was also raining). Come on in, you won't regret it!

Had a terrible experience with our server, Melanie P. She was extremely rude and inattentive, only coming to our table to take our order, bring the food, and drop off the check. During those few interactions, she rolled her eyes at us multiple times and even asked if we were leaving because “there are people waiting outside for your table.” I’ve never been told to hurry up and leave before, it was incredibly unprofessional. I’ve worked as a server myself and understand how stressful the job can be, but this was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. I honestly regret tipping 20%, and it felt like she took advantage of the fact that we were college students.

This is an awesome place to go. You can take a friend, family member, kids or you can just go alone. This is such a nice place to go to relax and “get away”. You would never know while hiking and playing in the waterfalls that this place is right on the edge of town. There’s also a nice cave that is easily accessible- although I’m not sure if you’re supposed to go inside! No charge for anything, unfortunately there’s nothing that’s handicap accessible. Parking is sometimes hard to find a spot bc there’s only a little space for parking.

What a beautiful and enchanting place! We had never heard about this place, just saw a sign and thought we'd check it out. We were sure glad we did! Especially going the day after a lot of rain, the springs and waterfalls were really gushing. Be warned there are a lot of stairs. It is definitely challenging for anyone prone to vertigo or with mobility limitations. The way down is very well maintained, though. It's a nice hike, and I'll look forward to seeing the water conditions in different weather.

This small and very enjoyable walking trail was very satisfying. It is well kept and a very traveler friendly trail with small benches and areas to stop and simply enjoy nature. I started by descending a metal walk way to a cave , then down beside a water fall/ stream :) , then winding my way through the woods to a marsh land, a pine grove , and the remnants of the old dam , below the dam is a swamp area that’s also very beautiful. If you have never been here I highly recommend going at least once , in the first light hours of the day. I intend to visit here often. And I wish to see it during different seasons.

A nice variety of shops and restaurants nearby. Mostly office spaces, but there are some interesting little shops and the space is nicely decorated in the winter for Christmas holidays. Parking garages are located in the north side of the square and metered parking locations (which are free after 9 p.m. and on Sundays) are usually free around the square or the neighboring side streets.

Intimate setting with great food and fabulous drinks. They distill their own booze so the drinks are carefully crafted. They have a great happy hour deal for drinks and fun events like bingo each week. I had the espresso martini and it was delicious, not too sweet. The OMG fries were a hit at the table. For brunch, the chicken biscuit and BLT are both excellent options. We will definitely be back!

We went for Bingo Brunch and it was so much fun! It was nice to get out and do something while eating! I highly recommend. The chicken biscuit was so good! The pub fries were delicious and their aioli is great! I highly recommend if you are looking for something to do from 12 to 2 to check this out!! Service was great even though they were super busy!!

Dang. Feel so silly that last week was my first night going here! Wife and I had an impromptu date night. Amazing food, great service and, even though I’m not drinking currently, the cocktail menu was stellar and delicious. Reasonably priced too! Highly recommend

After a full day of moving our son into his house we hit this amazing place! Gwen was incredible. We had amazing cocktails and tons of laughs on the patio. Will be back often! Let Gwen guide you suggestions….we were tired and couldn’t make decisions so she was an absolute delight!

This is definitely a nice place to check out and have a few cocktails. We did The Distillery tour and while The Distillery itself is not very large the tour was very informative and enjoyable. The staff seems very knowledgeable on what they make and the ingredients they use. It seems like they have a different type of spirit for every taste. The place is clean and folks are friendly. We did not eat there this time but when we come back down to Bloomington we will certainly make it one of our stops. Enjoyed the desperate housewife. That's one of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Library
The Lilly Library is a small but extraordinary library with an impressive collection that includes a puzzle display to engage visitors. The Rare Books collection is usually accessible only to students and faculty at IU, but the library offers thematic displays multiple times a year. Visitors can expect helpful staff and the opportunity to see rare items while wearing provided white gloves for preservation purposes. It's highly recommended for those interested in history and old works, offering a unique and enriching experience for anyone in the area.
A treasure trove of rare books, manuscripts, and literary history! This place is a dream for book lovers and history enthusiasts. With its incredible collection of rare and unique items, it offers a chance to experience pieces of history up close. During my visit, I was amazed to see a Gutenberg Bible, one of the rarest books in the world. I also loved exploring the first editions of famous literary works and handwritten letters from authors like Mark Twain and Sylvia Plath. The exhibits change regularly, so there’s always something new to discover. The best part was how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were, offering fascinating stories and details about the collections. Admission is free, and guided tours are available for those who want a deeper experience. I recommend setting aside time to browse at your own pace—the peaceful reading rooms are perfect for enjoying the atmosphere. This place is more than just a library, it’s a window into literary and cultural history. Whether you love books, manuscripts, or simply learning something new, it’s a must-see destination in Bloomington.

Visiting the Lilly library was one of the coolest experiences I’ve had for a while. They have such a unique collection of invaluable items. Every item I had the opportunity to look at transported me to a different time and place. I paged through a book that was signed by Darwin, saw original engravings from Robert Hooke’s microscope observations, and touched maps by Ptolemy.
Eve C — Google review
The collections at this library are extrodinary. It's not a large library but what it was well worth driving out of my way to see. They had a puzzle display that included ones available to try to solve which kept my 13 year old busy while I explored. The young woman working the desk was very helpful, pointing out things I might like other than just the Gutenburg Bible, which is what I'd come to see. It was a wonderful experience.
Shiloh S — Google review
Great little library with a true attention to history. I visited with a friend and got to see some great displays of old works that were wonderfully put together. If you are in the area and want to see their exhibits, I would highly recommend the stop.
Richard C — Google review
My primary experience with the Lilly Library has been through access to its archives of the original Ian Fleming manuscripts covering most of the original James Bond stories, and related materials. The organization of these and the way in which the institution makes them available to patrons is exceptional, dealing with staff always a pleasure. Highly recommended!
Dell D — Google review
A little gem at IU! They house a lot of really awesome, rare items. If you want to look at any books, you will have to wear white gloves (which they provide) and even put the book on this little book holder thing so the spine isn't damaged by opening it too far.... and you cannot check any materials out, though you are welcome to look at them there in the library.
Kimequa D — Google review
The Rare Books collection is generally only available to students and faculty at IU but the Lily Library offers thematic displays several times a year, generally two at once. Note that you'll need to check on their hours of operation but it is not the same as the other two nearby museums on campus. I've found the staff to be very helpful whenever I've gone to do research or to see a particular display.

An absolutely amazing experience. Oscars, The Emancipation Proclamation, the Declaration of Independence, the Peter Pan original manuscript, autographs from every single US president, and millions more. A true gem.

Brunch restaurant
Cajun restaurant
Uptown Cafe is a popular spot in Bloomington, known for its upscale New Orleans-style cuisine and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring elevated versions of Cajun-Creole classics for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Locals highly recommend the famous crab cake and the spaghetti Agliata with basil pesto, Gorgonzola and Romano cheeses, and aged balsamic vinegar.
We enjoyed a delightful brunch at the casual upscale jazz themed Uptown Cafe during our recent trip to Bloomington. Having made reservations, we were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, and our drinks arrived quickly. The food was also served promptly and received high praise from all of us. We highly recommend Uptown Cafe and look forward to returning to Bloomington.

We sat outside it was nice the motorcycles on the street are loud but not overbearing. Restroom was very clean! Waitress was nice and knowledgeable on food pairing. The price is roughly $25-30 per person per plate not including drinks. The food quality and serving size is worth the price.
T C — Google review
Uptown Cafe used to be the best restaurant in Bloomington. Our go to place for any special event has now become a place we actively tell others to avoid because of our recent experiences. The changes to the menu they made removed some of our favorite items like the crispy red onions and the chicken gumbo. The steaks now only have a la carte options which is fine, but leaves the experience feeling incomplete unless you add on sauces, toppings, and sides when all of those used to be plated together in a selection for the customer. The gumbo ya-ya that replaced the old chicken gumbo was extremely disappointing. The gumbo was black, and not edible. The consistency was off and the flavor was just not good. This is the only time that I have sent food back in my entire life. When I explained that I was expecting it to be similar to the removed chicken and andouille gumbo, the waitress scoffed and blamed it on me for not knowing more about the dish before I ordered it. Trust me, I wanted the food to be good, it was my birthday dinner after all. The shrimp and grits are the best in town and used to be my go-to breakfast order, but they’ve been removed from the breakfast menu and only featured later in the day. The cocktails here are the last good thing. I just feel that the restaurant is abandoning the elegant dining experience it once was with a worse menu and lackluster service.

First time visiting Bloomington, a charming college town, this place was Highly recommended by the locals, it didn’t disappoint us with its traditional English pub interior, exceptional service and delicious food. Our server, Jacob was amazing and made our experience even better. We ordered the munsicle salad with Po Boy, fried chicken sandwich, and bolognese pasta. To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the almond cream cake. Everything was delicious. If you’re visiting this lovely college town, I highly recommend this place.

It was busy, but it took longer than reasonable to be greeted at our table. Big menu. No check back on drinks. Was disappointed in the portion size of rice that came with the chicken as nothing else was included for the price. Check the menu prices before going for no surprises. Hostesses get a shout-out for being gracious even though we didn't have a reservation. Very sweet young ladies.

This place was amazing. We didn't eat dinner but had drinks and desserts. They were both terrific. The restaurant is divided into a dining area and a more bar atmosphere side. The staff was very attentive and professional. Highly recommend 💚💯💯

So you know when you open a menu and there are just sooo many things that look tantalizing.. and you know it's gonna be tough to choose every what to eat? That's this place. I travel a fair bit, domestically a lot and internationally a decent amount. I've eaten a lot of dishes in a lot of places. Today was my first tenderloin eggs Benedict, however, and it hit the spot. The steak was cooked as ordered. It was delicious. What I didn't expect was a 10/10 red-skinned potatoes on the side. They were outrageously good. I caved and also ordered the cheesy jalapeño grits, and trust me, if you're looking for some comfort food, they hit the spot. 9/10 -- could be a 10/10 with bacon crumbles or chorizo on top with a couple fresh jalapeño slices. On a packed Sunday at brunch hour, after a home football Saturday, the service was surprisingly still prompt and on point. I'll be back🤘

Ice cream shop
Nestled just across from Peoples Park on Dunn Street, Hartzell's Ice Cream is a delightful neighborhood gem that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This charming shop specializes in handcrafted, small-batch ice cream made with locally sourced ingredients, ensuring each scoop bursts with flavor.
I like exploring cozy ice cream shops & this a cute one in Bloomington, just around tons of food places close to the IU campus. We took 2 specialty Sundaes- Salted Caramel & chocolate , topped with crushed peanuts & cherry. I really liked the salted caramel, my husband liked both. The lady at the checkout somehow forgot to charge us for 2 Sundaes , charging for one only . When we talked to her & offered to pay for other one , she didn’t charge for it . I will come back to this place again .

Excellent little ice cream shop. With the number of flavors they have, it's hard not to find something you'll love. I had to try the sweet corn, and wow, it was good. I've never even heard of sweet corn ice cream before. I'm not big on sweets and desserts, but the kids wanted ice cream. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'll definitely be back. The 2 young men working there were also great. Quick to offer a tasting, very friendly and upbeat.
Jack K — Google review
Not a good experience at all. We ordered 2 scoops in a waffle cone. Within just a short time the ice cream started to melt and pour out of the bottom of the cone and leaking out of all the sides of the cone itself. It just became mush, wasting all the ice cream on our clothes, shoes, hands, sidewalk. It was inedible. When we stepped back into the shop right away to show the employees all they did was put it in a cup. Seriously?!?! Such a disappointment, especially since the 'waffle cone' is an upcharge. What a complete waste. It was like a wet piece of paper.

Nice staff and fun flavors :) went two separate times, once for a one scoop of lemon poppy seed batter and another for a half scoop of blue moon. Would recommend the batter one very much.

Enjoyed visiting this shop on a recent trip to B-town! The worker behind the counter knowingly suggested I try a sample of the Durian ice cream I had ordered before committing to a scoop. She was absolutely right, as it tasted like onion to me, so I went for the chocolate and sweet basil, which was delicious. A family member opted for a scoop of Blue Moon, which she enjoyed. The only drawback was that all of the blue dye in the ice Cream turned her poo green for the next couple of days! It was wild.

First of all we got there and it was closed, but the owner? let us in to order 6 ice cream. Everyone got different flavors and they were all excellent. Lemon poppyseed was wow! Cinnamon was fantastic! There are multiple chocolate flavors, yum! And the mango flavor was mild and creamy. If you're near Kirkwood st then stop here!

I placed a restraining order on my neighbor for several reasons. I've had to take time off work to come down there and they move the date and time. I have bills to pay. I can't afford to take off without pay for them to change dates. When placing a restraining order on someone then expecting them to have to see them in court defeats putting restraining order on them in the first place

Located in the Food Mart, BBQ Train is a restaurant that offers a variety of barbecue options such as pulled pork, ribs, and chicken. Not sure where these great reviews are coming from. Thanks a lot! I made a special trip to this place based on such and not worth it. $16 which I find to be a little on the high side. The brisket was fair at best. It was shaved, not what I was expecting, and no flavor and a lot of fat. When I go for BBQ I also look forward to the sides which are typically very good. The green beans tasted like they were out of a can and the mac & cheese, one of my favorites, was luke warm and not special at all. Disappointment as these are my 2 favorites. Guy was nice so I hate to write a bad review but people need to know. Oh and don't try to find the menu on the web. Takes you to some strange site that probably gives you a virus.

Food's great! Truly! Excellent pulled pork! And they're friendly. But they're seldom open, and they ignore their online hours. I called today at 5:15 pm, since they claim online that they're open until 6:30 pm today. They closed at 5:00 pm. I've not found them open the last 8 or 10 times I've stopped there. I've wasted a lot of time from their refusal to update their webpage and take their customers seriously! If I could just catch them open once in a while, I'd give them 5 stars!

Very beautiful park located just outside of town. Lots of beautiful limestone buildings/benches. Water features are great; spotted lots of kids playing. Large playground. Paved and not paved path options. Dog friendly with waste stations. Popular bike area. Lots of free parking. Great nature spot in the summer (fish, birds, critters). Picnic/shelter areas to rent. Adequate garbages. Short walkway to waterfall.

Nature Trails & Walking Paths - Multiple trails through forests and along the creek - Great for light hikes, dog walks, or photography 3. Picnic Areas & Shelter - Shaded picnic tables and a reservable shelter house - Grills and open space for family gatherings 4. Playground & Open Space - Nice playground for kids - Large grassy areas for casual play or relaxation

Scenic park with large playground perfect for walking children ages 12 and under. The colorful wooden playground has metal safety enclosures to help keep children safe. Two steep slides and several smaller ones. There is even a smaller play structure for the younger adventurer. The main play structure also connects to a beautiful wooden bridge with a stream running through it. There are two stone shelters with grills within walking distance of the playground.

I love to come here and walk the short distance to the waterfall. I havent been here when there has been a lot of water - I like to wade around on the rocks. The playground is pretty good size and great for kids (and as an adult who has used it in the evening when there are no kids around, it is also great for adults). The walk around the river is also nice. I've also been in the water some to wade around. I've also seen many kids playing it it or hunting for crawdads. (:

Sample Gates, constructed in 1987 by Edson Sample, serve as the entrance to Indiana University's Old Crescent. These gates are a renowned landmark on the campus and offer stunning views of both the university and Bloomington's iconic Kirkwood Avenue. The area is especially enchanting during late spring when cream and crimson tulips are in full bloom. While they are visually appealing, these gates also hold historical significance, dating back to a concept from 1932.
A beautiful little location marking the entrance to the university campus from Kirkwood. Also holds a scenic view from each side of the gate and it is very well maintained with flowers during spring and summer. This is THE place to get your graduation pictures (among several others on campus).
Deepak B — Google review
I'll admit that I just saw the pin and figured I would check this out but as I do my research to write the review, these aren't just pretty gates. The concept of a gateway to mark the entrance to the campus dates back to 1932 but they didn't actually get installed until 1987. And ever since, they are the most iconic spot on campus. IU grads know what I'm talking about. So I'll just stop here and tell you that if you're visiting or perhaps you're an alumni, get your selfie or portrait.
Bruce K — Google review
Beautiful, limestone gateway to the IUB campus. Extremely scenic area around sunrise and sunset. Perfect spot for everyone to take their graduation photos and prevent any entry or exit from campus.

An icon of Indiana University and Bloomington, Sample Gates are definitely a must-see when visiting IU. As the main entrance to the university, Sample Gates are an incredible photo opportunity. The foliage is always kept in excellent condition and always looks perfect. Overlooking Kirkwood Avenue in beautiful downtown Bloomington, the Sample Gates are the perfect connection that tie the university and the city together.

Beautiful landmark. The Bloomington stones that were used to build it are the same used to build The Empire State, in NYC, and other very important buildings around the USA.

Every IU student must rake photos for their parents in front of Sample Gates. Multiple photos seem to be preferred! 😉

This historic gateway to the campus of Indiana University may well be one of the most photographed sites in town. Just beyond the threshold are 9 acres of woodlands in the heart of the main & original part of campus built in 1820. Brick pathways branch off in different directions and it matters not if it's winter, spring, summer or fall this is an EXCELLENT place to see nature's beauty in Southern Indiana.

Brewery
Switchyard Brewing Company is a vibrant spot in Bloomington that perfectly blends great beer with a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for friends to gather. This all-ages brewery features a spacious taproom where pets are welcome, and while there’s no kitchen on-site, food trucks often provide delicious options outside. The lively ambiance is enhanced by live music performances, creating an enjoyable experience for everyone.
We had our daughter’s bridal shower at Switchyard. It was set up the way we wanted when we got there! Good came out quickly that we pre-ordered. The staff was helpful and friendly to the entire party. Everyone commented on how good the breadsticks were! We also ordered a pizza just to take home after the shower. They will also be the bar service at the wedding!

Came here for the first time since moving to Bloomington from New Mexico in July. I have so many praises for this brewery!! First of all, the red salsa is the best I’ve had since being here. It’s the only one that has had any spice and the birria in the pizza birria reminded me of home! The pecan brown was fantastic!! Above and beyond the offerings, the way employees are treated with a living wage and benefits, no tipping policy, protection of customers and all of the other socially just stances the establishment supports makes Switchyard stand out! Two new loyal customers have been made this evening. We will be back again and again!!!
Brittany D — Google review
What else can I say about Switchyard? It's definitely in my top 3 places to hang out at in Bloomington. It holds a special place in my heart because of the great beer, great atmosphere, and incredibly friendly staff. It's located on North Walnut a few blocks north of the square, which makes it a relatively central location to all Bloomington residents. Craft beer lovers will find something to like as they make a variety of delicious expressions. In addition to draft beer, Switchyard provides cans of their beers that you can find in the taproom, or as of early 2021, at Big Red and Fresh Thyme locations across the state. As a lover of dark beers, I recommend the Hopscotch Coffee Stout wholeheartedly. Since this review is being written during the time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, it's worth mentioning that the Switchyard team has completely modified their business model to comply with the ever-changing rules and safety requirements as determined by state and local authorities. Since Kurtis and team were EMS workers before opening this brewery, they know better than anyone about keeping the safety of the general public (as well as their staff) in mind. They went carry-out and curbside-only during a time when other local establishments were trying to pack their seats as full as they could (late 2020). It takes great courage to commit to that in order to protect the health of staff and patrons. I respect Kurtis big time for that. As an immunocompromised Bloomington resident, it's super refreshing to see a local business go out of their way to ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff. They go above and beyond to sanitize touchable surfaces and ensure masks/face coverings are worn inside of the taproom when not seated. In non-COVID times, Switchyard's weekly events were a blast to attend. Live music, trivia, and block parties were a few of the highlights. Kurtis and the team were always coming up with great ideas to get folks in the door for new and exciting events. Speaking of live music, I don't know how Kurtis and the team do it, but every single band they manage to book to play the taproom has been an absolute banger. Hopefully after COVID-19 is more under control, they can bring back the biweekly blues jam in the taproom! I can't write a review of Switchyard without mentioning the Mug Club. My wife and I have been Mug Club members for a few years now, and I will always be a member as long as we live in town. Switchyard has a great Mug Club program and you get a ton of cool benefits for your money. It's cool meeting other Mug club members at various events, as well as the annual end of the year Mug Club party. As of early 2021 Switchyard parted ways with King Dough and now creates their own recipes for food in-house. Their pizza is awesome and I highly recommend trying everything on their menu! Before the COVID times, my wife and I would head into Switchyard to work away from home/the office. They have gigabit wifi, which across town is not very common. This means blazing fast internet speeds, making it a great place to get out of the office and work in a chill environment. To close up this lengthy stream of consciousness about Switchyard, I'll just emphasize that while other microbreweries in town may have things Switchyard doesn't, you just don't get the complete package of awesomeness that Switchyard offers, which is the total encapsulation of everything I described above. I'm sure the many photos I'm attaching with this review will show that. Note: most of these photos were taken before the COVID-19 pandemic. Easy 5 stars! --- NOTE: For full disclosure, in the time since this review was originally written many months ago, I have gotten a job at Switchyard Brewing Company.

Full disclosure, I am a part time staff member and I’d like nothing better than to guide you through your visit to Switchyard Brewing. Here are a few pics to show you the atmosphere. I’d recommend you start with a flight of our beers (brewed on site in the same building you sit in) and then move you to your favorite pint. After you finish your tasty 14 or 16” pizza, I’d recommend a crowler or growler to go for your tailgate or day on the lake so you can share with friends. Stop in and say hi! I’d love to share more!!

Great brewery on walnut st! It's worth the short walk down from the square. The beers are delicious and the staff is friendly! There is a patio to enjoy the weather but the venue is well laid out and comfortable with plenty of space! They even have a canning option to bring brews home for longer storage than a typical growler, but you probably won't need a longer shelf life - these drinks are to delicious to have sit! Drink and enjoy!

Cool spot for brews and mexican food. Order food and beer separately. Get the birria pizza and the butterfly fries with guac! Beers are the best brews in Bloomington. If you have one evening to experience Bloomington, go to switchyard!

Delicious brews, fantastic pizza, and phenomenal staff! Mike poured the perfect option for me when I described what flavor profiles I typically enjoy in beer. I highly recommend this place for ANY Bloomington travelers. Oh, and Chip enjoyed the water on tap. 😂

I was a fan and of the light coast IPA which is a lower calorie beer. I also enjoyed the pizza. It was really delicious.. I wasn’t a fan of the ordering process. A long line to get a beer and order pizza. Also, being carded a second time after going up to order a second beer from a different bartender (standing right next to though).

Park
Wapehani Mountain Bike Park is a 46-acre park located just a short drive from the Whitehall Crossing & Plaza shopping centers in Indiana. It offers five miles of mostly single-track trails suitable for various experience levels, with most geared towards intermediate riders. The park features natural attractions such as sinkholes and diverse terrain including wooded and grassy areas. Visitors can expect to encounter unique trail features like log rides, wood ramps over trees, an Eagle Scout bridge, and rock jam elements.
This is a great little hidden spot for hiking in Bloomington. It's mostly for bikes, but walking traffic is allowed. Because it's a bike park, the trails are windy and a bit rough in some places. Just make sure you follow the rules and yield to bikes!
Whatzit T — Google review
I liked this pathway. It is better than many. Yes, it is lacking signage. It was cleaner than many, very little garbage. I drive a truck over the road and have visited quite a few. The first signs that go up should be, IMHO, how to contact the trail club, when and where they meet for work parties.
Philip F — Google review
Decent trail close to highway I-69 hello but the trails are not marked well.
Traveling R — Google review
So gorgeous and natural. Only downside is it's right by the interstate so you can hear the traffic anywhere in the park, but other than that it's great! Great for mushroom spotting and wildlife watching!!!
Mc F — Google review
Very nice park, we used commuter style bikes and had a great time. Not too difficult. Most of the paths were not marked, so you might want a phone for a map.
Luke T — Google review
Honestly, it is a truly poorly designed and implemented park. The trails were kinda fun to ride IF you could follow them, but having dozens of trails criss-crossing through such a small area is problematic. Not to mention, the signage REALLY needs work. Signs where they aren't needed, no signs where they are, and the placement of the signs should be BEFORE the intersections, not after... Overall, I would not ride here again, and it made for a very frustrating and confusing ride with a lot of screeching to a halt to turn around at missed intersections. Also there was definitely a drug deal going down in the parking lot while I was here.

Hidden little gem. This nature preserve hosts several bike trails from beginner on. Its a beautiful area teaming with nature and the crowd is very diverse, close to downtown and free, it's a great place to make new/ hookup with friends and spend an afternoon.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Kirkwood, The Village Deli is a cherished diner that has been delighting locals and visitors since the 1980s. This bustling eatery is renowned for its hearty American breakfasts, featuring an extensive menu filled with mouthwatering options like oversized pancakes, savory omelets, and delectable breakfast sandwiches. One can't miss their famous Paxton's Potatoes or indulge in the sweet trio of pancakes, waffles, and French toast.
My friends and I took our day off from school to enjoy breakfast together and we were all very pleased! From our server, Sebastian who was very kind and attentive to the amazing food! The atmosphere was very wholesome and welcoming! Will definitely be coming back!

Downtown Bloomington staple breakfast joint know for their pancakes and snarky/fun attitude. In reality, the serverers are fun and prompt and the food really is incredible. Pancakes are huge, THICK, and fluffy. The corned beef hash is home made (not processed). Serving sizes are substantial and we all took food home. Highly reccomend The Village Deli and look forward to stopping back in next visit.

Solid 4. I had the veggie omelette. the omelette had a ton of vegetable in it including mushrooms, broccoli, onion and peppers. But instead of the traditional fluffy omelette, it was a really really thin one - almost like a crepe. My wife has the pumpkin pancakes and she said they were very good.

I had the Corned Beef Hash w/ scrambled eggs & it was delicious! The portion was more than generous (good thing I was hungry!) and it tasted so good, I ate cleaned the plate using the hearty whole wheat toast that came on the side. The coffee was a flavorful roast, fresh and hot, and I never saw the bottom of my cup, thanks to the great, attentive and genuinely friendly service. I can’t wait to return and try other menu options!
Mark M — Google review
The servers were attentive and had a great attitude. The veggie omelette was very mid. the veggies were still raw and there was not enough cheese. It was overall not very good. However, the egg croissant sandwich and pancakes were very fluffy and pretty good.

This is a great college diner restaurant. I went here for breakfast after the little 500 and the options made it hard to decide. Thankfully I was there with 3 other people so I was able to sample many options. I chose the lox bagel. I was not disappointed. It had every ingredient I would have wanted and tasted devine. The breakfast tacos were also delicious. My partner opted for the turkey sausage which I felt was a better choice for the flavor. I only drank water, but the coffee smelled good. Our server was very nice and on top of our drink refills. I don't make it to Bloomington too often, but this was a great way to start Sunday morning.
Christof W — Google review
Village Deli is my favorite breakfast spot in Bloomington. The cup of coffee is surprisingly good for a diner environment. The staff is always friendly and quick to serve you. My favorite thing there is the bagel with lox. It has a good amount of salmon and enough toppings too. The cream cheese is not overpowering. I wish they had other flavors of bagels besides plain but the bagel is good. The bacon is always cooked well and tasty. The home fries are some of the best I have had. They are seasoned well and the perfect bite size! Overall a great place for breakfast. There is usually a wait but they are honest with the times.
Charles V — Google review
I am all about supporting local dining. But all the times I have tried this location it always disappoints. Latest, I ordered their Village Burger. Two bites in and I had to put it down. Thick, tough, burnt, and unseasoned. The toppings seemed like they were old and had sat out for days. The tomato was like rubber. Service was exceptionally slow with no attentiveness. I wish I could love this place since it is a staple downtown and locally owned. But they continue to come up short.

The place is frequented by students, locals, and visitors who enjoy the vibrant energy of B-Town while indulging in great food and drinks.
Delicious food! I enjoyed my crazy quinoa beef dish. The beef was so flavorful. My son loved his burger. We thought the Mac n cheese was tasty as well. Just know that if you have kids, this place doesn't have a kids menu.

Was in the mood for some good ole fashioned Middle of the country American food. So I headed on over to Crazy Horse. Very conveniently located in the downtown area near campus, it's a fun pub vibe. Got a spicy margarita to start my dinner and it was fine, I actually don't know if there was any alcohol in it. But go here expecting mostly sandwiches and bar type food. The service was great and I sat outside since it was a pretty perfect night. I was feeling a burger (they have an entire page of the menu dedicated to it) and built one with Beer Cheese, bacon jam and poblano peppers. I was disappointed they recommend the burger to be cooked to medium but it wasn't too dry. The double burger was kind of hard to eat and a touch messy but that's the charm right? Overall it was a great burger with good flavor. I recommend checking it out if you are on campus for a game.
Eric D — Google review
I walked in to place a carry out order and the staff were super friendly and attentive. I ordered the cuban sandwhich and chicken tortilla soup. The soup was an absolute 10/10, just WOW!!! The sandwhich was a solid 8/10, as it does not have a sauce on it and was just a bit dry, but still great flavor. Would be really good with some barbecue sauce. Overall definitely recommend
Nicole D — Google review
Typically I go to the Crazy Horse for lunch and get the half soup/ half sandwich combo. The 2 soups rotate and while it doesn't fill the void ledt by Darn Good Soup it is a reasonable option as the soups are pretty solid. A few highlights besides the soup are a solid bourbon offering at the bar, the best fried mozzarella sticks in town since Opie Taylors closed. Marks Cuban their take on a Cuban sandwich is tasty, the Shrimp Po Boy (pictured) is solid and they have a good pork tenderloin sandwhich which is of course an Indiana staple. Overall the menu is has a good offering of shareables, bar food, salads and sandwhiches its a pretty vintage old bar and since Irish Lion closed one of the few long time fixtures on the square still standing.

Stopped here for lunch. The place is nice and the service was good. I had a beer and the BBQ Wings (appetizer menu) and it was good. It just took awhile to get our food though!

We've eaten here several times. The food and service has always been good. Because of that we decided to have my husbands military retirement party here. They have a private room, you get your own private bartender and menu. It was great, our bartender was the best, the manager helped out and she was fantastic. They allowed us to decorate the space and bring our own cake. The food was great, everyone really enjoyed the party. I would definitely have a party here again.

I called asking about there fish sandwich.i was told it was a large piece of fish with chips.so I ordered and went to pick it up.the place had an unpleasant smell, and the hostess ask for my payment before she even went to the kitchen to retrieve my food.I checked my food and waited for someone to come back to the front to ask about what they were giving me.she said she had to get a manager. Who informed me that it’s not a big piece of fish they told me I’d get but a lot of fish.she even stopped me after I said ok thank you to say have you paid for it.Really! It’s dry and tasteless.
Sophia R — Google review
The food was cold after an hour of waiting for it. The server actually told us that the kitchen was closed and that our order was put in just in time. The plates were somewhat warm but the food was cold and soggy to the touch. Our server seemed annoyed that we complained that the food was cold. The tenderloin was super crunchy, like it was left frying too long. All I wanted was lettuce with it, it came with onions, wilted lettuce. The only thing that tasted amazing was the pickles. If I were plastered drunk I could see it being a great place. The manager gave us a 50% discount, makes me wonder how many they had to give out

Nestled on 4th Street, Anyetsang's Little Tibet Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that invites you to explore the rich flavors of Tibetan, Thai, and Indian cuisine. This charming eatery boasts a cozy atmosphere with an inviting garden patio where diners can savor their meals beside a soothing fountain.
We had the pleasure of arriving at this restaurant just before closing, and despite the late hour, both the servers and the owner greeted us with incredible warmth and hospitality. Their friendliness made us feel immediately welcome, and it was clear from the start that customer care is a top priority here. As for the food—wow! Every bite was an absolute delight, far exceeding our expectations. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the freshness of each dish was undeniable. What we experienced was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece—truly a foodgasm! This is easily some of the best food I’ve had in Bloomington, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. If you’re in town, this place is a must-visit. From the inviting atmosphere to the top-notch service and unforgettable food, it’s the complete package. Highly recommended!

Went on a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Amazing subtle flavors right across the dishes we ordered. The spice level had an amount of zing. They have Indian and Thai fare as well, but didn't try them since we wanted to do proper Tibetan. The staff were very courteous and service was pretty fast. The restaurant was very quiet with a traditional Tibetan ambiance. Loved the experience.
Gogula A — Google review
Taste of Tibet in the Midwest! We were incredibly grateful that they were able to accommodate our large group at the last minute. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The decor is absolutely beautiful and cozy. The food was a delightful blend of Indian and Thai cuisines, which is fitting considering the location of Tibet. The salad and soup were complimentary. We ordered fried rice, dumplings, and Tibetan tea, and everything was quite enjoyable. The tea was exceptionally rich and would be a great addition to any winter meal.
Sonia B — Google review
A unique place with home-style Tibetan, Indian, and Thai food. The restaurant is decorated with Tibetan Buddhist ornaments and plants. Quiet and cozy inside with a nice secluded patio area too. Very kind staff. I had an iced chai and the temo sha tsel. The chai had the right spices but it was very much on the sweet and milky side - I would have liked it stronger on the tea. The temo sha tsel is a stir-fry of various veggies and your choice of protein (tofu) in a savoury broth. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was comforting wholesome food, with a pleasant subtle spice. I ordered it at spice level 3/5. Level 3 had an accent of heat but nothing serious. If you want prominent heat, go higher. I was eating with my parents, who ordered their entrees at 1/5 and 2/5, and both said they could have gone up a level, even though my mom (the 1/5-er) has a pretty low spice tolerance. I didn't feel like level 3 was bland, but would be curious about higher spice. I absolutely loved the temo - steamed bread rolls. The soft spongy texture was so good! Dinner entrees come with both lentil soup and salad. The lentil soup hearty and warming. The salad looks deceptively simple, but the dressing was surprisingly flavourful. I don't think I've ever tried Tibetan food before, so I enjoyed the opportunity to try it here in such a pleasant setting. The food and portion sizes feel healthy and the price is reasonable. I will hopefully be back soon.

This place had been on my list for forever and I finally got the chance to stop by for lunch today. It's very quaint and has a lot of Tibetan decor. Food was great; I decided to switch it up and tried the "Kham Amdo Thukpa." I thought the portion size would be larger although it wound up being just the right amount for a lunch meal. Would've gotten an appetizer if they weren't all nearly eight dollars each (a bit steep, in my view). Overall a good experience though.

This was my first visit to Indiana University Memorial Stadium. My son and I had a great time. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house… I’m sure Indiana University will consider adding more concession stands and bathrooms. The Hoosiers are on fire and it was a packed house.

Beautiful stadium! We attended last Saturday’s football game IU vs. Old Dominion. It was perfect weather for a football game! Our tickets were on the east side of the stadium. The Old Dominion team was on the field in front of us. They put up large canopies. We were in section 28, row 17 and could not see the sideline because of these canopies, especially for the price of the football tickets. IU Athletics should ensure ticket holders ticket holders have an unobstructed view of the field. Several plays were in front of us but we could not see what happened because of these canopies. Perhaps, these canopies should be banned in the future.
Cheryl E — Google review
This was surprisingly an awesome experience! IU football was notorious for being a bottom Big Ten venue for a long time, with half-empty stadiums and lack of amenities. That was certainly not my experience. The atmosphere for a night game here in 2025 was great! Loud, passionate but respectful fans, good selection of food and beverage, and it didn’t appear to have a bad seat anywhere to watch a game. Needless to say, the days of $10 good tickets are in the rear view mirror. I’d gladly attend another game here.

Indiana won !! 1st Big 10 game this year. Winning 5 games in a roll is shocking for Indiana football. Go, Big Red !! During kick-off, the ball fell over 2 times. A teammate held the ball in position for 3rd attempt. The crowd roared with laughter and cheer. Instead of just adding a sign for "All Gender," they removed the "Family Bathroom " sign. Why not both signs? Not excluding anyone!!!

Bahn Mi was very good, my wife had heady veggie, and was very pleased as well, We shared tater tots which was served with what I would call a spicy remoulade sauce which was enjoyable as well. We both ordered a white chocolate lavender latte hers iced, mine hot, and were pleasantly surprised. For what I would call sandwich fare, it was a little pricy, but all in all, we would rate it an 8 out of 10. Also would like to mention the staff was very friendly during our visit.

Wonderful 1/4 chicken lunch. The flavors of the chicken, stuffing, and gravy were so simple but they let the food really play and I was able to enjoy a well cooked meal. Also, don’t skip the brussel sprouts, though a little balsamic glaze would be nice.

The Hive is an eclectic, artsy venue with a little something for everyone. It has an elevated campus vibe, with a lot of professional customers too. I have eaten here a few times and have tried several sandwiches. Today was the double smashburger and it was excellent with crisp edges, melty American cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, and tomato. Perfectly cooked to order. The seasoned fries were also a very nice complement to the burger. This is an independent, uncompensated review.

Hive is my go to lunch spot on the east side! My usual order is a chicken legit sandwich which is excellent, especially if you like Mayo. Their turkey melt is also tasty, and has a hidden kick to it. One of the best sides to get there is the tater tots, they are always fried to perfection. When I want a lighter side, the turmeric slaw is also an excellent choice. Most recently, I had the quarter chicken - white meat and it was delicious! The stuffing and gravy really elevated the chicken. Hive also has hot honey and hot sauce in the restaurant which elevates the dish if you like a kick. Their coffee is decently priced and always tasty! Overall a great place to eat and the staff are always friendly! I also like the fact they have a sink to wash your hands in the back corner without having to go into the bathroom.

The food is excellent! Any of the sandwiches or bowls are really good. The reuben, Frisco melt, and braised pork bowl are my favorites. The pies are delicious. Even the soda fountain is really good—I recommend the cardamom cream soda. Hive is a Bloomington staple. Sitting on the patio in nice weather is real pleasure.

My favorite items were the Braised Pork Bowl and the french fries. I loved the seasonings. Overall, great experience in all aspects.

Wow - cannot give enough praise to this place! Our service was great, and the atmosphere was good as well. Clean and spacious spot. The food is what really shines - we started out with the dip platter. Everything was amazing! We all got a variety of tacos. The chicken tinga and chorizo picadiillo were to die for!! The tacos were filling and packed with flavor. Everything tasted so fresh. We also tried the birria tacos - one of the best Mexican dishes I’ve ever eaten. We are considering going here twice in one weekend we loved it so much! The table ordered blood orange margaritas - so delicious. The margaritas tasted fresh and not overly syrupy sweet you find sometimes. Truly will be back to Bloomington just for this restaurant! Can’t recommend enough!

Hmmmm. Super disappointing. I ran here as Birria tacos were on their menu. I’m lost for words. They were simply tasteless. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, skip. I sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and pleasant but the bar top was sticky and appeared dirty. It was a Monday lunch and I was as the only one at the bar, not quite sure why it was dirty. Super disappointed.

Came just after football game. Yes them Hoosiers. Or whatever. The place was a zoo. They won. Again .The table that was cleaned for us was quite wet and dirty. So we cleaned it a bit more. No biggie. They were swamped. We had reservations, still waited for 20 minutes. I got chicken burrito. Was good. The chips were not to my liking but everyone else liked them. Our waitress was great. Very nice, polite and patient. All in all, a nice place.

We went there looking at the review that it was good. Kids wanted to go to Mexican restaurant. I picked this one thinking it will be good because if it's location in downtown Bloomington. Did not have a good experience. Ordered a flight of salsa with chips. Asked the girl for an extra tomato salsa sauce as it was in high demand by my boys. She charged an extra for that. If she had told me that it will be charged when I asked for it, I wouldn't be upset. We ordered the soft tacos. Food was cold. Never had such cold tacos before. Then boys went to the male restroom, there were no toilet paper. I told the servers in the front that there were no toilet paper. After 10 mins, it was still not addressed. I went to the female restroom , got some tissue paper and handed over to the boys to use them. Overall, did not have a good experience.

Rainbow Bakery is a trendy bakery with a retro vibe that specializes in all-vegan pastries and cakes, along with local drip coffee. It's a popular spot for students to study while enjoying vegan treats and coffee. On Sundays, they offer delectable cinnamon rolls that are highly sought after.
I discovered this place during my senior year at IU. Every time I went, I would get an oatmeal cream pie and try a new item. Every time the oatmeal cream pie was amazing while the other item wasn’t. Now coming back after such a long hiatus I knew I only needed one thing. I went ahead and bought three out of the six pies (crazy they only make so few). I’m not sure if the owner or the recipe changed, but the pies looked different. I remember the cookies being thinner and smaller, but I could be wrong. The edges were crispier than the softer inside, but overall a good tasting cookie. The cream in the middle was fantastic, but a little less creamy then I remember. Good amount of sweetness, but would have loved a better ratio of cream to cookie. Even though they are vegan you would never be able to tell except for in the prices ($7 each). Highly recommend checking this place out and trying their oatmeal cream pie and anything else that looks appealing.

I was able to place a same day custom cake order, and they literally had it ready to go in a couple of hours. I never expected that type of turn around, it was amazing—I was just calling to see if they had any cakes ready to go and they whipped together a beautiful custom cake instead. This is one of the best moist cakes we have ordered, and we had to store it in the fridge. I can’t wait to order here again.

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for a bridal shower a week in advance. Photo left was the reference and photo right is what was received. While the cake tasted fine, the design did not meet my expectations at all. Had I known the decoration would look so amateur, I would’ve tried doing it myself. Definitely a disappointment to have on display at a special event.

Just wanted to take a second to show appreciation for my favorite bakery in Bloomington! 💙 We love Rainbow Bakery! 🌈 The sweetest, kindest, most compassionate staff in town and the yummiest custom cakes you can find in the area for the price. Ordered a custom cake kinda last second for my boyfriends birthday and the baker worked with me on every detail helping make it extra special and perfect, all within my time constraint & with the most adorable & kindest energy! Less than 24 hours later my cake was ready and even better than my vision 🥰🥹Every special occasion, I choose Rainbow. The sweetest girl bakes and decorates all the cakes and is so over-the-top willing to make sure it’s up to your standards and expectations, always making them turn out BEAUTIFUL 🤩💙🌈 If you haven’t, give Rainbow Bakery your business for your next custom cake order and all your other bakery needs 💛 Thank youuuuu Rainbow 🌈

Great donut. Hope they expand. They have regular, non-vegan milk options as well. Free Pac-Man in the corner is a nice touch. Enjoy this winning slo-mo shot of a half-dozen doughnuts!

We got an array of things to try this bakery for the first time. The donuts were our favorite from what we got but also the best we’ve ever had. My son’s favorite was the cupcakes. My carnivore husband even tried the vegan curry and said it was surprisingly good.

Ordered a rush birthday cake while in Bloomington from out of town (chocolate on chocolate) and not only was it ready early, and decorated perfectly, but was one of the most moist, delicious, and flavorful cakes I have ever had. Fed a group of 22 people (mostly from NYC, London, and Paris) and every single person raved about it being a phenomenal cake. Will absolutely be ordering from here again next time I need a cake in Bloomington!

If you have a vegan, dairy free, or gluten free diet this is a wonderful place to get you a treat. I struggle to eat out with Alpha Gal and here I have nothing to worry about on the menu. Everything is great, but I absolutely love the Homer and Raspberry doughnuts!

Nestled in a historic building that once served as the Carnegie Library and a school for Black children, the Monroe County History Center is a treasure trove of local and international history. This vibrant center was established by passionate residents dedicated to preserving Monroe County's rich past for future generations.
Very cool stuff in this little exhibit. My favorite part was the 1830s cabin wood. I also enjoyed that I was alone but the bear (named Monroe in 2013) kinda freaked me out so I didn't go over there. I looked into the history of the bear and it's very interesting but would you ever consider putting it in a calmer stance or in a corner somewhere and not in the middle of the area?
Mikey S — Google review
There were a lot of interesting exhibits throughout the museum. The limestone carver exhibit had a nice display of carving tools with a sample of the result of using that tool, and a quary with a few buttons kids would like to push. Outside of the wonderful carved piece and the items and articles already displayed on the wall, it would be great to have more photography displayed of the other pieces of work from the Chicago Civic Opera house to other famous buildings and sculptures.

Wonderful displays on Monroe Co History. We enjoyed the temporary exhibit called "Order Up!" This exhibit was on many old and a few current restaurants in Monroe County that have been around a long time, many iconic. Lots of information and memorabilia on each. The guy said that they are planning another display in a couple years because they have so much stuff they didn't have room for this time!

A great place to have a birthday party. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the upstairs exhibits were great little pieces of history! The rental price was pretty great too! I loved it!

An excellent array of historical exhibitions, supplemented by a supposedly-great (in other words, I’m sure it’s great!) collection of geographic/demographic maps and data in the research library. The staff and volunteers are AWESOME and so friendly and conversational! Will be back, very likely the next day it opens. 🙂

The John Waldron Arts Center in Bloomington is a hub of artistic expression, with multiple theaters hosting a variety of plays and musical events. The black box theater offers an intimate setting for low-priced community theater productions, while the center also features a super cool museum showcasing works by artists like Wyatt LeGrand. The interior exudes an artistic ambiance reminiscent of the Great Gatsby era, making it a lovely place to explore.
Went to the play Misery. Fantastic set! Incredible how they transitioned between areas! Special effects and props were executed perfectly. Cast was professional. Small theater, so, not a bad spot in the house!! Seating comfortable for folding chairs. Snack selection was small. Alcoholic and NA options available. Lobby space was beautifully decorated.

Multiple theaters means multiple shows going on at once. The black box theater is intimate. Like really close. Really. You can't shift your weight in your metal folding chair without the entire 30-50 person crowd hearing you. But it was a great option for a low priced, community theater production.

Event venue
The Indiana University Auditorium is a comfortable mid-size venue that hosts various productions, including concerts, stage plays, and stand-up comedy. The building itself has historical significance, featuring Thomas Hart Benton murals from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. While some visitors have noted issues with acoustics in the past, recent renovations have improved the sound quality. Additionally, free parking is available at nearby garages with shuttle services to and from the auditorium.
Very nice auditorium. We saw Les Mis here. There was bus service from the parking garage due to a home football game going on at the same time. Had a great time!

Always a fantastic experience. I have been attending events at I.U. Auditorium for more than 25 years and every experience has been positively memorable. In my experience, this is truly a world class venue.

Great experience! The events here are so professional and perfect each time. The staffing is very knowledgeable on processes and help the entire way if you are unfamiliar. There is limited parking outside the auditorium, but most visitors take the IU shuttle. Info on their webpage. Arrive a but early to get seating and go through concessions.

I was excited to share a theater experience with my daughter who is home from college on spring break, and so when I learned that the 25th anniversary of Chicago the Musical was at IU Auditorium, it fit the bill. I had not been to a show at this venue before and willl not go back. The parking experience really overrides everything else. You have to park very far away, and especially if the weather is not good, it is not walkable. They do provide bus shuttles from the parking garages to the theater. Let’s talk about that. Getting from the parking to theater was not a direct route but included a few stops and so it took 15-20 minutes to go what should have taken 5. Plan to go well in advance of your start time. But the worst part was getting back to the parking garage after the show. We had to wait outside in freezing weather in a very long line of people for about a half hour while we waited for a bus. Any warm feelings I had from watching the show were completely gone by this point. So not worth it. The show itself was good - Chicago is a classic after all. That is l, the part of it I was able to see. I paid for floor level Orchestra level seats - section A, row 14, seats 9 and 10. But I could not see the left half of the stage, where it seemed much of the action occurred. Next time I want to see a production like this, it will not be here.
Sue R — Google review
Attending a show at the IU Auditorium is always enjoyable. They offer free parking at two parking garages with shuttle services to and from the auditorium. The shuttles run very often, and there are helpers at each stop. Once at the auditorium, their are plenty of ushers to help you find your seat or anything else you may need. The acoustics are great. We have seen concerts, stage plays, and stand up comedy, and they all sound very good.

Dunn's Woods is a stunning 20-acre woodland located on the southwest side of Indiana University's campus near Sample Gates. It was a passion project of former university president, Herman B Wells. The area features beautiful brick paths that wind through centuries-old trees and serve as a backdrop for the Rose Well House. The enchanting ambiance of Dunn's Woods makes it a hidden gem on campus, offering peaceful exploration away from the hustle and bustle.
Neat, little forest which allows one to take a brief break from the cityscape when walking to classes. The squirrels definitely have a good time here.
Hunter R — Google review
A beautiful little forest, but very sketchy at night. I came here several times around 2 AM, and did not feel safe at all. You are not supposed to carry a weapon on campus but if you are going to come here late at night, definitely at least carry pepper spray or a knife, especially if you are a woman. The place just feels like a place to be murdered at
Osyrys O — Google review
A beautiful area on campus near most of the main Indiana University buildings and the fraternity and sorority houses, as well, this is a small wooded area that many students have founded inspirational and/or romantic over the years. There are many paths cutting through the woods in various directions, well lit for safety at night. In summer, it is a great place to get a break from the heat while in winter, it is beautiful when adorned with snow. Be on the look out for squirrels, chipmunks, cardinals and other midwestern "critters". Pro Tip Be sure to visit (and have a picnic if so inclined) the remains of the Rose Wells house at the east edge of the woods.
Geoff — Google review
It's a pretty good set of woods, but it doesn't serve alcohol. You can bring your own, but that comes with its own risks. The squirrels are friendly and unobtrusive.
Ethan D — Google review
This is an enchanting part of the mostly gorgeous Indiana University campus! I've greatly enjoyed wandering around here - if you see someone you don't like approaching from a distance, you can easily duck down an alternate path that will take you away quick as a wink. The paths are old and made of brick, so no shaky-legs grannies need apply! Sometimes you'll spot young men or women dressed as Dumbledorf or another type of warlock, witch, or wizard, which adds to the aura of mystique and metaphysical pleasure. Highly recommended!

Attended a women’s basketball game here, was the first time I’d been back to Bloomington since 1994 when I attended basketball camp here. Back then it was like a cathedral. Now in 2025, you see it’s a bit dated compared to other college basketball venues. It’s still nice but not like it was then. Good, passionate fans. Plenty of free parking that was a reasonable walk even in subzero temperatures. Would come back.

Looks impressive on the inside great view from most if not all seats. The big downfall is that concession prices are really high. I understand it's a sports event and college, but they're still really high.

It was our 1st time visiting Bloomington, IN. My spouse is a HUGE Tarheel fan, so he purchased tickets for us to see the ladies' game against Indiana Hoosiers on Dec. 1, 2022. Ironically, December 1, 2021, marked the day we saw our 1st live Tarheel men game in North Carolina. The Simon stadium was massive on the outside and spacious inside. Staff were friendly along with the locals. They told me where the concessions stands were, even joked about us wearing the wrong colors (team). I was in extreme awe of the statues and art displayed, so I had to take pics for the lifetime memories. We even had the best seats in the house since we arrived very early.

Oliver Winery offers a charming garden setting with a shop that sells food and wine, as well as picnic packages. The winery is known for its sweet wine which is often compared to adult grape juice without the headache. Visitors can take part in events such as the Halloween Candy and Wine Pairing with an informative and fun host, while enjoying stunning views of the pond area. The atmosphere is described as casual yet formal, making it an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
I surprised my mom and bff with a day here at the winery and let me tell you, we all had a wonderful time! I'm not much of a wine drinker but they definitely are and I still enjoyed the vibes, the atmosphere and the sweet staff. Highly recommend the winery tour because we learned so many things we didn't know, especially that the Oliver's are a wonderful family who have touched the lives of many. Kathy was our tour guide and she was knowledgeable and very sweet. The day was beautiful. I packed us a picnic that we were able to enjoy once the tour was over. Or you can purchase food and snacks at the shop. We left with some wines that they've never tried before so it definitely broadened their horizons. We can't wait to come back!

We had an incredible experience today on our tour and tasting with Kandy! She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a gift for teaching, especially simplifying complex information about the wine making process! I would recommend this to anyone, even those who don’t necessarily like wine!

Winery day done right. Oliver is an easy “bring friends/family” pick: scenic lake, gardens, and flights that work for newbies or dry-wine people. You can bring your own picnic or grab one of their red-gingham baskets on site. In the Fall, there’s a fun bonus—heirloom pumpkins (including minis and blue-gray/blush varieties) so you can taste, shop, and style your porch in one stop. Staff is friendly, parking is simple, and there are lots of outdoor tables. Tips: arrive early on sunny weekends, consider a weekday for a quieter vibe, and try a guided tasting if you want more education. Note: dogs OK outdoors (double-check signage). They are not allowed in the tasting room or covered patio. (Transparency: my husband is Oliver’s CEO; sharing my genuine opinion.)
Sophia B — Google review
We had an absolute wonderful time! My husband and I were passing through the area visiting friends as we made our way home while on vacation. We, a group of 4, booked a guided tasting, hosted by Ian and Kathleen K. Your knowledge and excitement was positively electric! Ask for these two! Absolutely wonderful for both those who have been to tastings before and for those who have not. I would recommend purchasing their artisan tray. We purchased 2, one for each couple and it was for the most part, plenty. If you had not had lunch, get one for everyone because they are single serve portions. After our tasting we continued the fun by tasting wines that were not sampled at the tasting. I have tasted several wines around the country and believe me when I say don't judge a wine just by the description. Let your taste buds guide you because I enjoyed several that I would not have tried if I only went by dry or sweet. I would be in trouble if I lived closer to Oliver! I am looking forward to beginning their mail order program once we finish the enormous collection that we brought home with us. Thank you again for a wonderful timeI

A must visit! This is one of the best places to visit in Bloomington. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by beautiful gardens, peaceful ponds, and plenty of shaded spots to relax with a glass of wine. The setting is gorgeous and perfect for a picnic or just enjoying the view. Only downside is that’s it’s a bit on the expensive side. We paid $36 for a simple lemon flavoured white wine, a bag of chips and a dip but the ambience made it worth the cost.
Pavneet A — Google review
My husband and I have been coming to Oliver for 22 years. We come down from Indy a few times a year and are wine club members. They have fun events and we always enjoy our visits. Today was no exception. We scheduled a picnic for two and it did not disappoint. We had a lovely table on the patio area. It was pouring rain, but we didn't even mind, we were well protected from the rain and could enjoy the sights and sounds of the glistening forest, pumpkins all around and the serene lake. Our hostess took good care of us, bringing us a little light for the table, pur wine flights (which you get to choose), and a sumptuous picnic for two, with warm baguette, crackers, two kinds of cheese, grass, dried apricots, olives, skinned almonds, salami, and Oliver's delicious garlic cheese ball. Two Lidnt truffles peaked out from the plate, and we received two Oliver Winery tumblers to take home. We polished off most of the picnic and our lovely hostess returned to inform us we also get dessert! She brought a flight of 5 mini cheesecakes, each delicious and perfectly paired with our remaining wines. We ended our visit with a case of our favorite wines (25% off for wine club members!). The day had cleared and we took a stroll and some pictures on the grounds. Can't recommend Oliver highly enough! We've brought friends and family for visits and everyone is always impressed with the beauty of the vineyard and the wines.

Oliver Winery completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the landscape blew me away. The rolling hills, the gardens, the water features—everything is just incredibly peaceful and beautifully maintained. It honestly feels like a hidden getaway. What made the visit even better was the customer service. Every staff member we met was welcoming, genuine, and clearly cared about making our experience a great one. Nothing felt rehearsed or rushed. They were just kind, knowledgeable people who made us feel at home. The highlight, though, was the Blueberry Moscato. It was unbelievably smooth, fresh, and full of real flavor. I ended up taking bottles home because it was that good. If you’re anywhere near Bloomington, make the trip. Oliver Winery has stunning scenery, wonderful people, and some of the best wine I’ve ever tasted. I can’t recommend it enough.
Steven K — Google review
WOW! My husband and I visited Oliver Winery for the first time on our one year anniversary. We didn’t have many expectations but we were so impressed. This place runs like a well tuned machine. All the staff were so friendly and helpful in our wine selections. There is a huge patio both covered and uncovered that you can sit at for wine tasting. It’s surrounded by beautiful kept up gardens. The atmosphere is so refreshing. I’ll echo what other reviewers say in that if you like sweeter wine, this place is great. No, it doesn’t tatse just like juice, it’s definitely still alcoholic but it goes down SO smooth and easy. Plus, I didn’t feel judged and overly pressured to try drier wines or things I might not like. Their sweet reds and more fruity flavors were truly the best I’ve ever had. My husband would agree too! They offer discounts on cases of wine when you buy at least 6. There’s also a wheelchair accessible access where you can still see and walk around some of the gardens! I already can’t wait to come back.

I was blown away by the hospitality and amazing wines I experienced from this lovely vineyard. I would never have expected to find such well made & impressive wines in Indiana. I cannot say enough good things about Butler Winery. It is definitely a MUST VISIT if you are in or driving through Bloomington! Do not miss visiting this gem. Keep in mind that this is a family owned winery. This is not some large scale, corporate owned vineyard. I absolutely love this winery! The wine is outstanding and the atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for both casual visits and special occasions. Ive been coming here since early 2000’s as a kid, back in the days of eating pizza by the pond! Once I turned 21, it became my go-to winery — They even hosted my engagement party, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The staff was welcoming and attentive, and all of my friends and family had an amazing time. They also host a multitude of events, such as the eclipse in 2024, where my family gathered to witness an amazing event. I live about 5 hours from here but was in the area and because they open early decided to head over. 10am and chilling in a picturesque are with an amazing glass of wine. Did a flight and was happy as can be. The place is beautiful the people are friendly the wine prices are reasonable and even bought some souvenirs. Thank you Lisa for the time you spent with my girlfriend and I.

Always friendly workers. Love the variety from dry to great fruit style wines. They have pond and covered porch with chairs. Nice setting to share a bottle with. Definitely worth the drive. They have meats and cheese to add to make it a nice addition to the wines.
Dan K — Google review
Nice winery with some nice tasting wines. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. The setting is nice and the porch area is good for drinking and enjoying light fare. The tasting room is big enough to have several groups tasting at the same time
Mark L — Google review
Great place to sit on the patio and have an afternoon picnic. Bring your own food or order theirs. the wine is reasonably priced and is not bad for Indiana wines.

Nice little winery. Excellent wine slushies! I’m not a wine person so not one to critique the wine but it’s a nice place for a little tasting.

Nice place to relax & rent paddle board or kayak. The staff were awesome to rent from. A few trails by the pavilion across the road from the beach that are easy, but one area needs mowed a little better. Make sure to use bug & tick spray.

Apparently the beach can be used as a boat ramp now when the water is high.

It was a really pretty day, kind of hot. This was my first trip to Lake Monroe. I visited Fairfax Station Recreation area which has a reservoir and a beach. There were families and other groups of peopl
Nancy S — Google review
Had a $7 fee to get in, then the bathroom/beach house was all locked up so we couldn't even change into suits. The beach was murky and beach "sand" just lots of little rocks and shells. May be normal for the area, not sure. The kids enjoyed it but changing in a room would've been cool. 90° out and the beachcomber still locked!
Joey T — Google review
Fun and beautiful place. Has a little beach with a safe area to swim. A lot of neat nature including Bald Eagles, Red tail Hawks, Snakes, Deer and of course fish.
Ari — Google review
This lake is just beautiful. People are somewhat friendly, awesome beach, and awesome scenery.

We had our wedding at the Big Oaks Shelter. It was simply beautiful. The staff mowed the day before and were very helpful through the process. The only thing I did not like was that the public was able to use the restrooms while we were having the wedding...and the wedding certainly did not stop the public from using those restrooms!

Nice for a beach in Indiana, all sand..no rocks. Bathroom and changing area. Room to fish. Sad little playground tho.

Karst Farm Greenway Trailhead is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of town, offering a serene environment for families to enjoy. The well-maintained rental shelter houses are perfect for gatherings like cookouts, birthday parties, and baby showers. Kids can have fun at the playground and splash pad on hot summer days. The trail features beautiful landscaping with rolling foothills leading to ancient bedrock bluffs.
This is our favorite trail. The new portion going to Ellettsville is very nice

Was really nice except when we got to 3rd St there was no sign indicating where the trail continued. We turned around as my partner wasn't feeling well anyway, but it was annoying that the trail was well marked before that point. Will try it again sometime soon.

Didn't get to walk it yet but it's beautiful landscaping. Smaller rolling foothills empty out over ancient bedrock bluffs. Most of the private property surrounding this park is pasture and grazing but looks like what I just described. Can't wait for return ttip

I was lucky to see the Mellencamp art show...three talented generations! Sean was so kind and informative. You can linger over all the artists' work. It is a unique location as well, so make the drive.

Great collection and friendly staff and members. We visited a special exhibit of work by John Mellencamp, Marilyn Mellencamp, and Speck Mellencamp. The selection was impressive, and prices (for those who decide to buy) are below market. The love of staff and volunteers shines through (extra points for feeding a local outdoor cat).
Kelli P — Google review
This is such a great resource for our community. We do understand they need to pay their educators and to keep the property maintained, but it would be nice if they offered some activities at cheaper rates. We would be able to show more support if it wasn't so expensive to have 2 or 3 kids enrolled in something. *We took a basket weaving class and there was 0 information about the history of basket weaving. Just, 'Hey, Im a basket weaver. weave this paper between this plastic...' I can do better art classes at home for much cheaper.

I enjoy this place so much , but right now they doing some renovation. Not many artists up and all the Mellencamp paintings have been returned to their owner.

Ferguson Dog Park is a fantastic destination for dog lovers and their furry companions! This spacious park features three distinct areas: a vast run for large dogs, a slightly smaller area for small breeds, and an additional space perfect for training or reactive pups. The park is well-kept with mowed grass, making it an inviting place to play. While most visitors are diligent about cleaning up after their pets, waste bags are conveniently available at the entrance.
We love going here!!! There are three runs- one very large run (well over an acre, maybe two or even more) for large dogs, another large-ish run for small dogs and a third run you can use if you're training or have a dog who loves the park but who is sometimes reactive. It's well maintained, but bring your own water bowl if you have smaller dogs or don't want your dogs drinking half water half slobber. They even have TWO little bathing areas, and they do have a water fountain outside the fence near the parking lot but all the water is turned off in the winter. The grass is well maintained and people do an okay job picking up after their dogs though I've come home with stinky surprises on my shoes more than once. Overall a great park.
Megan B — Google review
This dog park is awesome! Everyone here is super friendly, there are three different areas one for small, large, and another area with some logs for the dogs to climb. I use to take my pup here all the time until we moved away.
Mere K — Google review
I really enjoy bringing my dog here! Most people clean up after their dogs. But not all! Generally waste bags are available at the entrance. There are water spigots and a dog rinse area. Both the large and small dog fenced areas have their own gates and the grass is always mowed. People are friendly, parking is very close and there are always other dogs to run with.
Kathryn B — Google review
Excellent place to bring the baby to play. Marnie loved meeting all the different dogs and people. She had so much room to run.

The IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology showcases a diverse collection of artifacts that shed light on various civilizations throughout history. This institution houses an extensive range of archaeological finds and anthropological specimens, providing visitors with a deep understanding of past cultures and societies. The exhibits within the museum explore themes such as art, religion, technology, and daily life, offering valuable insights into the rich heritage of different communities around the world.
We view “Divine Adornment”. The exhibit was very interesting and well laid out. The QRL codes on some of the exhibits helped to extend the exhibit.

A fascinating journey through history and cultures! This place offers a rich and educational experience for anyone curious about archaeology and anthropology. With its diverse collections of artifacts from around the world, it’s a perfect spot for history lovers and students alike. During my visit, I was amazed by the Native American artifacts, including pottery, tools, and textiles that told powerful stories of early life in the Americas. The exhibits on ancient civilizations from places like Africa, Asia, and Latin America were equally impressive, showcasing everything from traditional masks to ceremonial objects. I especially enjoyed the interactive displays, which allowed me to explore ancient tools and learn about excavation techniques. The museum’s layout is easy to navigate, and the informative descriptions helped me understand the significance of each piece. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, happy to answer questions and share stories behind the collections. I recommend joining a guided tour if available—it’s a great way to dive deeper into the exhibits. This place is more than just a museum—it’s a space for learning, discovery, and connection with human history. Whether you’re a student, a history enthusiast, or just curious about the past, it’s a must-visit in Bloomington that makes history come alive.
