Cajun restaurant
Uptown Cafe is a popular spot in Bloomington, known for its upscale New Orleans-style cuisine and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring elevated versions of Cajun-Creole classics for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Locals highly recommend the famous crab cake and the spaghetti Agliata with basil pesto, Gorgonzola and Romano cheeses, and aged balsamic vinegar.
We enjoyed a delightful brunch at the casual upscale jazz themed Uptown Cafe during our recent trip to Bloomington. Having made reservations, we were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, and our drinks arrived quickly. The food was also served promptly and received high praise from all of us. We highly recommend Uptown Cafe and look forward to returning to Bloomington.

We sat outside it was nice the motorcycles on the street are loud but not overbearing. Restroom was very clean! Waitress was nice and knowledgeable on food pairing. The price is roughly $25-30 per person per plate not including drinks. The food quality and serving size is worth the price.

Uptown Cafe used to be the best restaurant in Bloomington. Our go to place for any special event has now become a place we actively tell others to avoid because of our recent experiences. The changes to the menu they made removed some of our favorite items like the crispy red onions and the chicken gumbo. The steaks now only have a la carte options which is fine, but leaves the experience feeling incomplete unless you add on sauces, toppings, and sides when all of those used to be plated together in a selection for the customer. The gumbo ya-ya that replaced the old chicken gumbo was extremely disappointing. The gumbo was black, and not edible. The consistency was off and the flavor was just not good. This is the only time that I have sent food back in my entire life. When I explained that I was expecting it to be similar to the removed chicken and andouille gumbo, the waitress scoffed and blamed it on me for not knowing more about the dish before I ordered it. Trust me, I wanted the food to be good, it was my birthday dinner after all. The shrimp and grits are the best in town and used to be my go-to breakfast order, but they’ve been removed from the breakfast menu and only featured later in the day. The cocktails here are the last good thing. I just feel that the restaurant is abandoning the elegant dining experience it once was with a worse menu and lackluster service.

First time visiting Bloomington, a charming college town, this place was Highly recommended by the locals, it didn’t disappoint us with its traditional English pub interior, exceptional service and delicious food. Our server, Jacob was amazing and made our experience even better. We ordered the munsicle salad with Po Boy, fried chicken sandwich, and bolognese pasta. To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the almond cream cake. Everything was delicious. If you’re visiting this lovely college town, I highly recommend this place.
Sonia B — Google review
It was busy, but it took longer than reasonable to be greeted at our table. Big menu. No check back on drinks. Was disappointed in the portion size of rice that came with the chicken as nothing else was included for the price. Check the menu prices before going for no surprises. Hostesses get a shout-out for being gracious even though we didn't have a reservation. Very sweet young ladies.
J P — Google review
This place was amazing. We didn't eat dinner but had drinks and desserts. They were both terrific. The restaurant is divided into a dining area and a more bar atmosphere side. The staff was very attentive and professional. Highly recommend 💚💯💯

So you know when you open a menu and there are just sooo many things that look tantalizing.. and you know it's gonna be tough to choose every what to eat? That's this place. I travel a fair bit, domestically a lot and internationally a decent amount. I've eaten a lot of dishes in a lot of places. Today was my first tenderloin eggs Benedict, however, and it hit the spot. The steak was cooked as ordered. It was delicious. What I didn't expect was a 10/10 red-skinned potatoes on the side. They were outrageously good. I caved and also ordered the cheesy jalapeño grits, and trust me, if you're looking for some comfort food, they hit the spot. 9/10 -- could be a 10/10 with bacon crumbles or chorizo on top with a couple fresh jalapeño slices. On a packed Sunday at brunch hour, after a home football Saturday, the service was surprisingly still prompt and on point. I'll be back🤘

Another great restaurant in Bloomington! We have been here so many times and can't remember anymore. Great place to have reservations and get seated right away when games are playing at IU. Staff is always great from hostess to server's. Love the BBQ shrimp Creole. The sauce is so good!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Kirkwood, The Village Deli is a cherished diner that has been delighting locals and visitors since the 1980s. This bustling eatery is renowned for its hearty American breakfasts, featuring an extensive menu filled with mouthwatering options like oversized pancakes, savory omelets, and delectable breakfast sandwiches. One can't miss their famous Paxton's Potatoes or indulge in the sweet trio of pancakes, waffles, and French toast.
My friends and I took our day off from school to enjoy breakfast together and we were all very pleased! From our server, Sebastian who was very kind and attentive to the amazing food! The atmosphere was very wholesome and welcoming! Will definitely be coming back!

Downtown Bloomington staple breakfast joint know for their pancakes and snarky/fun attitude. In reality, the serverers are fun and prompt and the food really is incredible. Pancakes are huge, THICK, and fluffy. The corned beef hash is home made (not processed). Serving sizes are substantial and we all took food home. Highly reccomend The Village Deli and look forward to stopping back in next visit.

Solid 4. I had the veggie omelette. the omelette had a ton of vegetable in it including mushrooms, broccoli, onion and peppers. But instead of the traditional fluffy omelette, it was a really really thin one - almost like a crepe. My wife has the pumpkin pancakes and she said they were very good.
Yale L — Google review
I had the Corned Beef Hash w/ scrambled eggs & it was delicious! The portion was more than generous (good thing I was hungry!) and it tasted so good, I ate cleaned the plate using the hearty whole wheat toast that came on the side. The coffee was a flavorful roast, fresh and hot, and I never saw the bottom of my cup, thanks to the great, attentive and genuinely friendly service. I can’t wait to return and try other menu options!
Mark M — Google review
The servers were attentive and had a great attitude. The veggie omelette was very mid. the veggies were still raw and there was not enough cheese. It was overall not very good. However, the egg croissant sandwich and pancakes were very fluffy and pretty good.

This is a great college diner restaurant. I went here for breakfast after the little 500 and the options made it hard to decide. Thankfully I was there with 3 other people so I was able to sample many options. I chose the lox bagel. I was not disappointed. It had every ingredient I would have wanted and tasted devine. The breakfast tacos were also delicious. My partner opted for the turkey sausage which I felt was a better choice for the flavor. I only drank water, but the coffee smelled good. Our server was very nice and on top of our drink refills. I don't make it to Bloomington too often, but this was a great way to start Sunday morning.

Village Deli is my favorite breakfast spot in Bloomington. The cup of coffee is surprisingly good for a diner environment. The staff is always friendly and quick to serve you. My favorite thing there is the bagel with lox. It has a good amount of salmon and enough toppings too. The cream cheese is not overpowering. I wish they had other flavors of bagels besides plain but the bagel is good. The bacon is always cooked well and tasty. The home fries are some of the best I have had. They are seasoned well and the perfect bite size! Overall a great place for breakfast. There is usually a wait but they are honest with the times.
Charles V — Google review
I am all about supporting local dining. But all the times I have tried this location it always disappoints. Latest, I ordered their Village Burger. Two bites in and I had to put it down. Thick, tough, burnt, and unseasoned. The toppings seemed like they were old and had sat out for days. The tomato was like rubber. Service was exceptionally slow with no attentiveness. I wish I could love this place since it is a staple downtown and locally owned. But they continue to come up short.

Breakfast restaurant
The Runcible Spoon is a charming and whimsically decorated eatery located in Bloomington's downtown district. It offers casual cafe fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The eclectic Bohemian-style decor sets it apart from other restaurants in town. With four distinct seating areas including a front patio resembling a secret garden and a Victorian library-themed main level, the restaurant provides a unique dining experience.
Went here for breakfast on a cold winter morning. The place was quite bustling despite the quiet morning. Had a few college kids and a couple of families. The food was very good and the coffee, great. The service was pretty good as well, despite the busy morning. They might have to look into the furniture a little bit - I get what the atmosphere is supposed to be like, but fixing up some of the furniture so that customers could sit comfortably enough.
Gogula A — Google review
The atmosphere was not really our style. We did receive excellent service the entire time we were there. The food was generous portion sizes. My wife was able to split The Weekender with our two girls. Overall we had a good experience, but probably won’t be back.
Chad D — Google review
The service was expeditious. I was waited on and she was pleasant. The food was disastrous. It tasted like it had been on a warmer for an hour or microwaved. My eggs tasted like rubber and no seasoning. I dont know why my food was cold..but one can only ponder. Shall return again for another chance. My dear associate says the eggs tasted like the days of the army. And the food tasted just like the ambiance...bland. But I did what any well mannered citizen would....I tipped my waiter 25 percent and wished her a good day. #black #missourian

I went for a brunch date with my boyfriend on Halloween, we were sat in the basement near the kitchen and had the pleasure of enjoying the kitchens costumes, music, and laughter! I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict and a side salad and WOW it was amazing. I will be coming back and ordering the exact same meal.

Delicious breakfast in a cool old house with lots of interesting decor. Service was quick and friendly, no issues. I was very impressed by the corned beef hash and sautéed vegetables, and my wife loved her biscuits and gravy with a side of French toast. Their coffee and tea selection and quality is excellent as well. Highly recommend trying this place if you haven't!

Cozy and cute. Our server was quick and very nice. Food is good - hard 4. We had corn beef hash (their own version), smoked salmon omelette and a french toast.

Excellent food; spectacular service. We came straight from our Latin tournament at IU 🏛️, and we were very tired and hungry. Daniel went out of his way to make sure we had everything we wanted (including honey for my husband's tea 🍵, butter for my extra crispy English muffin, and switching my caffè Vienna to an Ode to Pisces: pistachio syrup, rose water 🌹, espresso, and milk ☕). I am a true Pisces, and I can confirm that the drink was a perfect match for my taste buds and for my soul. Every time we asked for something, Daniel went up a flight of stairs and produced it instantly. We really enjoyed talking to him -- he made our brunch very enjoyable, and he treated us like we were the most important people in the world. My husband loved his crispy home fries, and my smoked salmon was legendary. The onions were perfect. Even the lemon wedge was just right. The last bite of salmon put me in Nirvana ✨
Michael A — Google review
The food was very fresh and had great flavor. We sat outside on the patio which we would highly recommend. The server was attentive too. Highly recommend them adding a chicken salad sandwich to the menu. There is NOT ONE currently but apparently myself and others have order their chicken salad and thought it would be a sandwich, not a regular salad. Either way they were really nice about the mistake and the grilled cheese I got was delicious. I bet they would make a good chicken salad though!!

Nestled in Bloomington, Cozy Table is a delightful haven for those seeking comfort food with a twist. This charming eatery offers an inviting kids' menu featuring fun options like silver dollar and Mickey Mouse pancakes, alongside classic favorites such as chicken strips and grilled cheese sandwiches. Each meal comes complete with fries or breakfast sides of sausage or bacon, plus a drink to wash it all down.
I have been to a many breakfast places in Bloomington, and this place is by far the best. The food and service has always been excellent in all my visits. Also the food comes out very quickly and is always cooked to your specifications. The only complaint is the dated decor and ambience as it’s like they are going for 5 different aesthetics at one time and nothing works. But who cares what it looks like if the food is too notch and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place.

Been coming here for breakfast for years. I always have a pleasant experience here. Quality of food is great. Servers are always great. Wait time is next to none. This place has never let me down. If you're looking for a great breakfast option, try it. I bet you'll appreciate it!
Mechel R — Google review
the food here was pretty solid. Did not have much issue with the service either so far. I think the people could be a little nicer overall. However, not sure if that was just their default attitude to most of the customers there or if that was just one person at the time. the only thing that i did not really like were the bite marks on all the cups. I understand that with an establishment this old, that not everything will be up to super high level standards. however, once i saw the bite marks on the cups, it made me feel really uncomfortable drinking out of it. other than that, it was a pretty solid expereince.
Takuya — Google review
Food was good. I had ordered a waffle and a side of hash browns. The hash browns never showed up. I reminded the waitress, she assured they were coming. Then the check came. I was charged for them but still never received. They did end up taking them off the bill. Service was not great at all. I am local and love to support local restaurants. But, will probably never be back.

We chose this local mom & pop restaurant for it's hometown feel, and had a wonderful brunch here. I ordered the Special #6, and my husband ordered the strawberry crepes. The Special was perfect for me. The crepes came with cinnamon dusted on them, which was a new flavor combo with the strawberries. Had we have known, we may have asked to withhold the cinnamon. Loved the Mason jar syrup pitcher! All in all a great experience.
Carmen H — Google review
This was my first time at this breakfast place. We got there at 9am on a Sunday and there was a table open. By the time we left there was a line of people waiting. Everything the 4 of us ordered was delicious! Quick service and efficient too. They asked for a coffee refill like 15 times. The menu was huge and had a Greek spin to it. We got the American skillet which was delicious and came with a side of pancakes (but I upgraded to the French toast). We also got the corned beef Hash skillet, and an omelet. The pumpkin pancakes were tasty too. The atmosphere was just like a family owned diner and I could tell the owners right away as they talked to almost every customer, joking with things, saying hi to people they knew and asking how everything was. It was also reasonably priced for the amount of food you got. We will be going back too.
Abigail F — Google review
My food was delicious, especially the cherry topping for my pancakes. I had salted carmell syrup. I had a omelet with mushrooms, peppers, bacon and sausage with American cheese. The service was good and the food came out quickly.
James M — Google review
Townie vibes here and love the mom and pop Greek decor. One of the best places for brunch or breakfast but don’t sleep on the lunch entrees too. The Greek florentine is great, and so are the omelettes. Good price, amazing service and good atmosphere. They are moving to a new location over by the old big lots building, but I’m glad they’ll still be operating.

Vegan restaurant
The Owlery Restaurant in Bloomington is a popular choice for vegetarians and vegans, offering a diverse menu of original vegetarian fare and craft beer. With nearly every dish customizable to be made completely vegan, navigating the menu is effortless. From healthy options like the Grilled Vegetable Salad to indulgent treats such as 'Fish' Tacos and Tempeh Ruebens, there's something for everyone. On Sundays, they serve up hearty brunch options like red velvet pancakes and breakfast poutine.
Probably the best vegan dish I’ve ever had is the “Chicken” tofu wrap from here. My friend loved her faux shrimp tacos which the place is apparently known for. I’d definitely come back. Vegan and very healthy, appetizing, and filling lunch.
Anika B — Google review
The Owlery is a vegetarian restaurant that is also conscious of diners with gluten allergies. I have dined at the Owlery twice, most recently with a vegetarian, pescatarian , someone with celiac, and myself, the omnivore. The great thing about the menu is there was something for all of us. We started with the chips and vegan cashew queso, which was delicious - so much so that we found a recipe so we could make this dish at home. I had the "chicken" sandwich with honey mustard. Other diners ordered the "fish" tacos, a "chicken" sandwich with ranch, and the pesto portabella. The curry riced cauliflower was tasty. Although I would have much preferred a softer bun for my sandwich, the tofu had a nice crisp and the flavor with the honey mustard was really good. I had a bite of the portabella and was not disappointed. On a previous visit, I had the impossible chili, which was very savory. In all, we did not go hungry, the food was nicely prepared, and the service was friendly. I compared prices at The Owlery to one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in a city of similar size and the prices are comparable. I truly wish, however, that The Owlery would take their vegetarian concept to the next level and offer more robust dinner options instead of mainly sandwiches and salads. Even so, we will return.

Absolutely loved this place. The ambiance is top knotch with seating for any occasion - solo, couples or groups - with ample of room. Service is prompt and reliable. Food was great. I got a Kombucha to drink. It was canned and great. Mashroom Banh Mi was one of the best. Poutine was good. I don't have a reference for this. So it was okay. All in all, highly recommended Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant. I'm getting a bit tired of resturants charging different prices for cash and cards. But can't really take away a star cause many are doing it.
Chanaka H — Google review
This place was amazing! The food is super delicious vegan. Very welcoming. Nice outdoor seating the best part of my experience with the server, Sydny. Their recommendations were on point! I got the Vegan Cobb salad, which was absolutely delicious. The Bahn Mi, which was great and on the spicy side. And poutine fries.
Clare M — Google review
This place was popping, I am glad we got there early. After seeing the food come out as we waited I could see why they had a line forming. I got their biscuits and gravy, but it was a mushroom gravy definitely not traditional but delicious. My only complaint was the biscuits were so thick you needed more gravy to not feel like your eating only biscuits on some bites. My wife had the chicken fried steak and that's definitely the meal to get, so GOOD!!
Andrew H — Google review
We hadn’t been back to the Owlery since before the Pandemic, so we had to make a visit. I forgot how meh their food is. I really want it to be better! Right now they’re doing takeout only, so we ordered and sat at one of the outside tables. They have just had a change in management and one of the choices due to that and the pandemic was to pull the coconut fried tofu with peanut sauce off the menu....so sad because it was my favorite thing on the menu. Their Ruben is good, but I’ve had better. The impossible chili (new to the menu) had a heavy cinnamon flavor which was NOT my favorite. The ‘Chicken’ Sandwich was alright, but nothing special. The vegan poutine was pretty good...it’s hard to mess up fries and gravy. We’re vegan/vegetarian so I really want it to be amazing, but their food is honestly just alright.
Cameron R — Google review
Great restaurant for vegans, and the food is delicious. During the pandemic they are only doing take-out, so make sure to call ahead so you won’t have to wait for your food. They had vegan meat and cheese, and a gluten free menu. So many options and so delicious. The peanut bowl isint included, but it was so yummy :)
Thomas S — Google review
Amazing Vegan / Vegetarian. I had the Tempeh Ruben with the a 1/2 side of Poutine and the Sesame Miso Bowl. The Ruben was amazing, must try. The Sesame miso was super delicious would get again. The staff was super helpful and nice. The restroom was clean and up to date. We went in around lunch time and had no waiting, got seated right away. The Owlery has Vegetarian meals that you can make completely vegan with substitutions being for cheese extra. If your in the area this is a great place for a date or a place to come and hang out. Nice atmosphere with quite music so nobody is trying to talk over it or each other. Parking was fine at the time no issues. Stores located around the area making it easy to walk around and other stuff to do. Must stop in and try even if your not Vegetarian or Vegan.

Hive is a restaurant that offers a healthy and flavorful brunch menu on weekends, featuring dishes like Cuban Breakfast and Avocado Toast. The restaurant also serves comfort food with international flair for breakfast, lunch, and dinner using thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Customers can enjoy fast and friendly service in a casual setting. The menu includes options for vegan-friendly meals as well as indulgent treats like giant cinnamon rolls and the popular Hive Burger.
This was our 2nd visit in 1 week! We had lunch the 1st time (we forgot to take pics because it looked so amazing 😂) & enjoyed it so much, we had to try breakfast. The quality of the ingredients is evident in the flavor and texture of the food. The staff is friendly, efficient, & knowledgeable. We also enjoyed voting in the cat competition - they have 2 jars up with pics of staff kitties. Your "change" is your vote & each week a winner will be chosen to move to the next round.

Bahn Mi was very good, my wife had heady veggie, and was very pleased as well, We shared tater tots which was served with what I would call a spicy remoulade sauce which was enjoyable as well. We both ordered a white chocolate lavender latte hers iced, mine hot, and were pleasantly surprised. For what I would call sandwich fare, it was a little pricy, but all in all, we would rate it an 8 out of 10. Also would like to mention the staff was very friendly during our visit.

Wonderful 1/4 chicken lunch. The flavors of the chicken, stuffing, and gravy were so simple but they let the food really play and I was able to enjoy a well cooked meal. Also, don’t skip the brussel sprouts, though a little balsamic glaze would be nice.

The Hive is an eclectic, artsy venue with a little something for everyone. It has an elevated campus vibe, with a lot of professional customers too. I have eaten here a few times and have tried several sandwiches. Today was the double smashburger and it was excellent with crisp edges, melty American cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, and tomato. Perfectly cooked to order. The seasoned fries were also a very nice complement to the burger. This is an independent, uncompensated review.
Joby J — Google review
Hive is my go to lunch spot on the east side! My usual order is a chicken legit sandwich which is excellent, especially if you like Mayo. Their turkey melt is also tasty, and has a hidden kick to it. One of the best sides to get there is the tater tots, they are always fried to perfection. When I want a lighter side, the turmeric slaw is also an excellent choice. Most recently, I had the quarter chicken - white meat and it was delicious! The stuffing and gravy really elevated the chicken. Hive also has hot honey and hot sauce in the restaurant which elevates the dish if you like a kick. Their coffee is decently priced and always tasty! Overall a great place to eat and the staff are always friendly! I also like the fact they have a sink to wash your hands in the back corner without having to go into the bathroom.
Charles V — Google review
The food is excellent! Any of the sandwiches or bowls are really good. The reuben, Frisco melt, and braised pork bowl are my favorites. The pies are delicious. Even the soda fountain is really good—I recommend the cardamom cream soda. Hive is a Bloomington staple. Sitting on the patio in nice weather is real pleasure.

Food is delicious and served in great portions. The prices are reasonable. The aesthetic of the restaurant is lovely. Lots of succulents. Patio is roomy and tables are covered with umbrellas. Patio is also dog friendly. Staff are young, polite, and quick. Food was served within 10 minutes and almost everything was warm. The rice and eggs were a little cold. My favorite items were the Braised Pork Bowl and the french fries. I loved the seasonings. Overall, great experience in all aspects.

i had an old fave place for burgers in town, and i was 100% brand loyal (wouldn’t order them elsewhere, and wouldn’t go anywhere else when i was in the mood). well, their burgers are no more. BUT i found a NEW BEST burger!!! better, even, than the other! I love a HIVE single with ketchup, mustard, grilled onion, and pickle on an english muffin! pair it with dressed greens for a perfect lunch!

The Tudor Room is a grand dining hall located in the Indiana Memorial Union, offering an impressive buffet lunch and brunch experience. The regal atmosphere is reminiscent of Hogwarts' Great Hall, with rich oak-paneled walls, stained-glass windows, and colorful banners representing different schools on campus. The Sunday brunch buffet is particularly noteworthy, featuring made-to-order omelets and delectable desserts.
To start off, the Tudor room has a great atmosphere where the interior design is unmatched by any place with a similar price range. The food menu changes daily and the weekly menus can be found online, so you can check and decide when you want to come in. The quality of the food is also good especially for a buffet, from starters to desserts.

Where do I start? I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner with a friend’s l family. They have been going since she was little with her grandmother and they have continued the tradition. I was excited to be with her family on this day. The room was beautiful it was easy getting to our table as we had a reservation for 12. Food: terrible. The spinach artichoke dip tasted like wilted spinach was used. All the salad dressings were heavily vinegar based and watery. The dressing/stuffing was very dry. Even after a fresh pan was brought out it was still dry. The prime rib was simple, but good. The menu also seemed like a hodge-podge. Like bacon and waffles, no “breakfast” eggs so not brunch, but also corn, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, but also a tofu bake, lox and bagels, salad bar, fruit and shrimp cocktail. Speaking of the salad bar, I don’t know what the broccoli was blanched in but it had a weird flavor. Odd thanksgiving menu. Desserts: The Carmel Apple cheesecake had a soapy aftertaste, the mini chocolate pies were ok, the apple cobbler was basic as well. I tasted the pecan pie (my friend got it) and it too was very basic. I’ve had better pre-made food from Kroger. I ended up getting a malted waffle and syrup for dessert. I’ve worked in a restaurant for several years. I understand food prep and how things have to be made for a broad group of people. This really was terrible. Again, my friend has been going here for Thanksgiving for years and she even said this was the worst it had been. Sad part is, on the way home we joked about how bad it was and at ~$70 a plate, totally not worth it.

First off The Tudor Room is beautiful, but the food and service were disappointing. The French toast casserole was jiggly and not cooked enough. Everything was room temperature. Nothing was hot except the waffle I made. We never received beverage refills and only saw our server once. For the price of Brunch I was really disappointed. The lunch side of the bar had only 4 selections and they looked odd so I didn’t try any of them. The only thing that looked and tasted great were the desserts! I honestly wanted one of each. They were very small portions, but they tasted good. I forgot to mention there was a young man who played the piano. He came in and played only two songs then went to chat with the bartender. I hadn’t dined at the Tudor Room in over 12 years…I thought it would have improved…but it hasn’t and that’s truly sad.

Very good experience. Good price for the quality and since it's a buffet. The coffee was very good as well. Service took a minute to get to my table but afterwards I was checked on plenty.

The price of $60.00 per person for the Easter Sunday Brunch was excessive. The Sunday Brunch prices is in the normally in th range of $25.00. The foods has never been much more than average, but this kind of treatment will end my patronage.
Chad S — Google review
The room and atmosphere are truly excellent. The food and service are OK. Everything is a buffet, with a good salad bar, hit or miss main course buffet (usually one dish is good) and a wonderful dessert buffet where you want to eat everything. They used to have world class coffee but now is it burnt roast. Reservations are a good idea; it was mostly empty when we were there but I've also been unable to get a table due to the crowd.

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch in mid December. We made a reservation but it was not necessary as we were one of maybe 4 tables at 10:15am. After being seated it took 10-15 minutes to get our cream for our coffee. It would actually be more convenient to have cream at the water and coffee station that we could have gotten it for ourselves. Besides being seated and having our dirty plates cleared away, the servers were not needed. The food was hot and delicious with a lot of variety. We were so full we didn’t enjoy the dessert table but it looked great! Music would have been nice. Someone sat at the piano for a minute but that was it. Overall, 4 stars. It is pricey so I wished the servers were more attentive.
Tarah S — Google review
Went for Easter brunch and the service was really rough. Our first server I had to track down. Didn't get coffee or waters for 10 min. Sorry but waters should be first and ready for servers to grab and drop on tables. Server stated he 'got lost'. Mimosa tasted like it was made with the lowest quality champagne. The salmon on the bagels were inedible. The other food and deserts were standard and quite good. We started getting served by a second server who picked up the pace but at that point we were essentially done with our meal. For 50 bucks a person and buffet style, I expect better beverage service.

Nestled in the charming town of Ellettsville, just a stone's throw from Monroe County, Wee Willie's West is a delightful diner that specializes in breakfast and lunch. This cozy spot exudes a warm, homey vibe reminiscent of classic Mom-and-Pop establishments. While there isn't a specific kids' menu, little ones will surely enjoy the array of breakfast favorites like fluffy pancakes, decadent French toast, and cheesy omelets. First-time visitors rave about the friendly service and delicious offerings.
This was my first time eating here. I will definitely be back! The restaurant has a homey Mom and Pop feel to it. The staff was busy and courteous. My server Emily was great! You can tell that the grill in the kitchen and the chefs are full of a lot of love! I had the most crispiest hash browns I have ever had! And my mini waffle was amazingly delicious! Definitely come here for a great meal at an excellent price!

Went to the restaurant and got the nachos. DO NOT order the nachos it says on the menu it comes with their custom made salsa yeah that’s a lie. I ordered and got NO salsa and barely any jalapeños and then asked for more and they charged me another 99 cents. The service was decent but mid. The only edible food there is the salads. However the root beer is AMAZING and highly recommend getting it!

Good diner, service and prices. Had a great breaded tenderloin and the owner checked on our table while we were there. I’ll be back

Gravy was served cold. Service is always slow and toast and potatoes burnt. I do not understand why people think this place is that great. Apparently they have never had real quality food before.

Taco Salad was amazing and huge. I couldn’t finish it all. Worth the $10. Comes with shredded chicken, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, rice, diced tomatoes, black olives, green onions, and salad dressing of your choice.

The food was good and hot. It seemed like we waited a long time for our beverages, but the food came out with a quickness. The decor is run down and tired.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is a delightful chain restaurant that embodies the essence of American comfort food, complete with an inviting general store. Guests are often greeted with prompt service, ensuring drinks are served quickly and orders taken efficiently. The menu features generous portions of classic dishes like meatloaf and country chicken, complemented by sides such as mashed potatoes and their famous fried apples—an absolute must-try!
We ordered salad and pancakes with syrup! This is a cool place to enjoy delicious meals with friends or family. As a quick advice, read the menu in advance to have a better experience. There is also a great shopping experience.

Food was delicious as always. Our server, Cindy, was absolutely amazing and really made the whole experience worth while. Food didn’t take forever and our drinks stayed filled. She brought out Togo drinks without asking and overall was an amazing server. Love her to pieces <3

It's the best of the best. Cracker barrel has something for everyone. It's great prices, huge portions of food. The store they have is wonderful with beautiful things. They have amazing stuff that other places don't carry. I buy a lot of my gifts for people at Cracker barrel and my daughter, when she was little would wear the adorable clothes that they have around the holidays. The service is usually a hit and miss but that's ok. The food makes up for it.

Samuel was our server. No offer of biscuits or corn muffins. Chicken and dumplings were terrible. No broth, just sloppy dumplings. Hash brown casserole is usually great, but it had no flavor at all. Will be sometime before we come back. Disappointing. Not a fan of the white walls.
Christopher V — Google review
I love Cracker Barrel for their country store alone! There are so many wonderful things to browse through while waiting for your meal! & my meal was delicious! I went for the sampler and tried the meatloaf and the country chicken. I got the gravy on the side and chose the mashed potatoes and the fried apples as my two sides.. Oh. My. Goodness. Those apples were amazing!! The chicken was surprisingly good. It paired wonderfully with the mashed potatoes and gravy. The meatloaf was also good. It is loaded with green peppers, and unfortunately, I am not a huge fan. I quickly tired of picking them out and ended up concentrating on the chicken... okay, okay, the apples! Yummyliciousness!! My friend ordered the chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and Mac n' Cheese. They thought everything was great! My friend also had the cornbread, which they did not care for. But they thought the Biscuits were quite good. Of course I will be back! Even if just to browse through the store!

Great service, we were seated and asked for a drink order within a minute. When waitress returned with our drinks she ask if we needed more time to decide. After ordering we received our food in a timely manner, we were checked on a couple of times after receiving our food. Food was fabulous and very nice portions for our money. Oh! Best of all the young lady that seated us had also recommended the s'mores brownie dessert, and it did not disappoint!!! I would say that was one of my all time favorite desserts I have had. Oh! And one serving was enough and extra to satisfy three of us sweet tooth craving. Absolutely totally enjoyed this visit to Cracker Barrel! Can't wait to return again. ♥️😍♥️

Faith was a perfect waitress. She promptly waited on us, checked in on us just the right amount and refilled drinks before our glasses were empty. She served us with a smile and kindness. The food did not take long to come to us. It was nice and hot and tasted really good. We were met with kindness in all interactions with employees!

It was late when we came in. Only 1 other table had people sitting at it. Our waitress was very attentive. I had questions about the app and she was helpful on getting them answered for me. We even ordered extra food to take home before we left, which was just before close. It was already in no time at all. The meals we ate there were excellent, the maple bacon chicken is my favorite.

Known for its welcoming atmosphere, Denny's prides itself on friendly and attentive service, ensuring guests feel right at home. Many patrons rave about the delicious meals and the staff’s commitment to keeping drinks full and plates satisfying. On special occasions like Veterans Day, Denny's shows appreciation for military personnel by offering complimentary meals.
I love going to this Denny's. The staff are fantastic and friendly, the food is fabulous, my drink stays full, and the cook rocks it everytime I am here. It really makes a difference when everyone is working together. The manager is knowledgeable and helpful. I visit in the morning/noon time. Thank you for being awesome Denny's staff!
James M — Google review
It was busy, but it's Father's Day so it was expected. We were told a 15-20 minute wait, which was fairly accurate. While waiting, I looked at a board posted about how they are hiring. In the photos, I noticed a serve safe violation. One of the cook pictures had some sort of to go cup setting on the food preparation table. Anyway, we get to the table and they take our drink order. When drinks arrive we asked for more time to choose (their menu is smaller still) Then it seemed like we were forgotten, while waiting to place our order I overheard many of the employees complaining about various situations. We get our order taken eventually and then wait another good while. I had expected my side salad at least, but it all came at once, and many things were wrong and/or missing. My father had added cheese on his hamburger order and no ketchup (was asked for during the order) and the replacement burger was falling apart in peices. Mom's order had fries as a side instead of the hashbrowns with gravy she asked for (when brought out, the hashbrown was over cooked and had a dirty griddle taste). Brother had to wait for the toppings for his toast and the ketchup, my salad had brown lettuce and it consisted of a large amount of the white bitter part of the lettuce, my "finger lickin" chicken fried chicken was over cooked and had spongey gravy that was crusty on the edges, and my requested condiment ordered along with my meal was missing and we didn't get it till my fries were cold. This Denny's used to be a hit or miss (used to be more hit than miss) but now it just seems to forever disappoint. Not once did they ask how things were, because it seemed the staff didn't care, they all seemed pretty unhappy. They weren't rude mind you, but you could tell that the moral of the team was not good. Probably best to not risk a visit here.
Leafy S — Google review
Cost a bit much to leave hungry. Extra bacon etc. or an one egg is ridiculously expensive. Toast was burnt and hard, chicken was kinda tough. Waiter forgot to bring water until halfway through. Not busy no excuses or reasons to give someone burnt toast... it's obvious and an easy fix. Price and portion size is what it is, check the menu. Clean, comfortable booth, waiter was friendly. Guess I would go again if I felt like a $18 mediocre breakfast. Looked hard, no biscuits and gravy ?!?! Not gross, rude, dirty or anything.
Mike C — Google review
Our first experience at this Denny’s was not a good one. There were very few people there when we arrived, and were the only people seated in the front dining section. They did get busier as we sat, and did hear a waitress claim they were understaffed. We waited almost an hour for our breakfast food. When it was finally brought to our table, it was less than luke warm. The only item brought to us that was still edible was our pancakes we both, thankfully, gotten. Those were still somewhere around room temperature. I shared pics only to show the bacon that lext the kitchen to actually serve to paying customers (not to mention, not cooked as requested). Out waitress was great, considering being understaffed and our displeasure for our food. She was very apologetic and understanding. Needless to say, she worked it out with us, and she still recieved a nice tip. As far as a second visit...no thank you.
Jamie B — Google review
The place was empty when we arrived in the morning, staff was loud, inattentive and playing on their phones. Tables were left dirty and not cleaned. The salt shakers are filthy, the silverware is filthy, the eggs were runny, the syrup bottle had hair stuck to it. The time it took to get our food was excessive. The waitress delivered the food and never came back. All restaurants have their issues but this place needs help!
Mr. W — Google review
Very friendly service, the food was delicious! The only negative thing was the undercooked hash browns. But my server, he immediately fixed the problem.

I ordered a cinnamon pancake meal w fries, eggs, and sausage for pickup. They forgot the fries, and my pancakes had MAYONNAISE on them instead of cream cheese frosting. So much mayonnaise. I literally never leave bad reviews bc ppl who work in food service already have it hard enough even if they mess stuff up occasionally but :( mayo pancakes
Minus T — Google review
Ordered the steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was cold and the potatoes needed a stick so I could lick them, they were that cold. The staff did nothing to fix the problem and walked away as I was explaining the problem. Worst service I have ever received in my life! This place has went so far down hill I would feel better eating at a soup kitchen.

Just left. Country fried steak was delicious as was the gravy. Service was efficient and friendly. Since I started working in Bloomington a month ago I’ve been trying all restaurants in walking distance. B- Town is now on my list of places for a good lunch.

Was there for lunch and an excellent Beef Manhattan: reasonably proportioned, not too much bread and mashed potatoes, good meat and a savoury, nicely-peppered gravy. Really good value!
Christoph G — Google review
I have to admit, I was worried when I got in. It looked like 1/2 the place was closed. We found out it wasn't and I am always down to try a local place, especially any kind of a dive looking place So we Sar down and I am SO glad we did. The food was amazing. The zucchini pancakes took me back to my childhood. The French toast was amazing and the chocolate chip pancakes had the crunch bits on the edge that make foe an amazing pancake. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I will be going back to this joint again foe sure.

Stopped in for a quick bite after visiting our daughter on our way back to South Bend. Loved everything about this place. I had the Beef Manhattan. Excellent flavor since the gravy was peppery, which is exactly how I like it. I also tried my wife's Decadent Mac&Cheese. Creamy goodness with a bit of a kick. We will be back next time we're in town!

Although the restaurant was horrendously under-staffed, the restaurant's solo waitress/hostess was a pro! Thanks for getting us in and out so we could make our flight! The food was excellent, pricing is reasonable, and they even have a few vegan options. For typical American breakfast food in Bloomington, B'Town Diner is second to none.

Good food, friendly service. Nobody in our family of 4 could finish their food. Biscuits were slightly dry. My husband enjoyed the coffee, kids loved the sweet tea. We will be back.

I can't say enough about this hidden, little gem downtown Bloomington (across from the Bluebird). The space isn't very large, but the flavors are! This is definitely a Mom and Pop operation with the owners there running the place, cooking and serving. They have an extensive menu with a full selection of breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and other entrees. The food is ALWAYS served fresh and piping hot. My go-to items are: grits and omelets; the Philly Stack, and their delicious pancakes which are crispy on the outside, but fluffy inside. They literally have something for everyone. PRICING! With inflation as high as it is, I honestly don't know how these guys manage to keep their prices so low. You get a TON of food for extremely reasonable prices (think Waffle House). For instance, my "normal" order is: Omelet with green pepper, mushroom, onion and swiss, half order of bacon, grits, English muffin and a glass of orange juice, and that is usually around $15! There are plenty of options just under $10, too, if you are cash-strapped. Unfortunately, like many small businesses, they are under-staffed. This is probably the biggest drawback. Don't get me wrong, the service is ALWAYS friendly, but when the place is full, there can be a bit of a wait both because of limited staffing and seating capacity. Still, I literally eat there EVERY weekend, so I have gotten to know the staff on a personal level, and they are just plain, old good people!!! They work very hard, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I encourage you to go when you have a little time, so that you don't get frustrated if there is a wait.

I stopped in for a late breakfast while in town recently. It was wasn't too busy when I was there mid-morning on a summer Friday. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Nutella and banana stuffed french toast, hashbrowns and bacon. It was delicious! The coffee was hot and also had a great flavor.
