Historical place museum
The Biedenharn Museum & Garden in Monroe, Louisiana offers a unique experience for visitors. The museum showcases the life of Joseph Biedenharn, the first person to bottle Coca-Cola in 1894 and move the bottling business to Monroe in 1913. Visitors can explore a 1913 mansion filled with antiques and take guided tours through English gardens. The museum also features early Coca-Cola memorabilia and historical artifacts, providing insight into the history of this iconic beverage.
This is a wonderful museum telling the story of the family and it's involvement in bottling Coke. The house is awesome, the gardens peaceful and beautiful. The Coke museum has some cool stuff. The Bible museum has some spectacular historical Bibles, sculpture and art.
Tom M — Google review
The garden was nice, but this families history is what you need to catch. Biedenharn started the Coca-cola bottling. A son invested in Delta crop spraying - soon to become Delta Airlines. Very interesting and a charming staff. Oh, don’t miss the Bible museum!
Jerry G — Google review
Fascinating Coca-Cola museum, absolutely beautiful garden, but I loved most of all touring the Biedenharn home! Our tour guide, Lily, brought the history in each room to life! We’ll definitely visit again!
Heather G — Google review
We bought tickets to tour the house when we purchased tickets to see the Coke museum next door. It is a curiously designed building which, if I remember correct, was told cost $6,000 when it was built in 1913. (one guide said 1916 so not sure which date was correct.) It was the property of the childless Emma Louise who toured Europe as a singer until WWII and returned home and never moving again. After her father died she bought out her brothers and began redecorating to her varied tastes: ending with a Oriental ensemble. The extensive gardens were her idea as her father loved his vegetable garden, chickens and pigs. (There was at least one pig that would get a Coke every day.) She tore all that up and installed a replica of the European gardens she saw in her years in Europe. No pigs, and no chickens, but lots of tropical and semi-tropical plants. She had permission from her father to go down to New Orleans and purchase a statue for the garden and returned home with five. Fascinating history about the family that put a bottle of Coke into millions of hands over the past hundred and more years.
Jeff S — Google review
We went here recently for the scarecrow competition followed by the outdoor movie, The Wizard of Oz. We were thoroughly impressed with the beauty of the garden and the overall facilities. The staff was very friendly and were very patient with of all the kids. Worth a visit is you have downtime in Monroe.
GJP 8 — Google review
This was an unexpectedly great spot to visit in Monroe! The Coca Cola museum was neat and included a nice cold coke to walk around the gardens with. The house itself was beautiful and Bible museum very interesting as well. The staff/guides were very friendly and engaging and explained everything thoroughly. Definitely worth the stop!
Christina P — Google review
Monroe, Louisiana, has a great historic museum concerning the family and business of Coca-Cola in Louisiana. In addition to the family story leading up to the invention of bottling their beverage, additional nearby locations provide insights to eminent family members and their lifestyles. For a nice overview of the creation of the beverage itself, and the development of the bottling process and product placement and distribution, this museum is truly a diamond. Helpful and informative staff describe and provide tour information including a separate mansion having extensive grounds, and an adjacent Bible Museum having an extensive collection. And where else can you get a nice cold Coca-Cola for 5 cents?
Jerry K — Google review
Nice place to visit in Monroe. The Coca Cola exhibit is fairly small. You can probably see everything in 10 minutes. The Bible museum can be seen in about 15 minutes. The gardens about 10-15 minutes. The house can take longer based on the tour. It's a neat house, although the renovations from the 70's tended to be a bit gaudy. Friendly staff. Overall plan on an hour to visit.

Nestled near the scenic Ouachita River in West Monroe's Cotton Port Historic District, Antique Alley is a treasure trove for anyone seeking a delightful shopping experience. This charming area boasts an array of unique boutiques, specialty shops, and antique stores that invite you to explore for hours. The Cotton Port Antique Mall is a must-visit, featuring vintage baseball cards, jewelry, furniture, and glassware from over 20 vendors.
Attend Duck Fest 2025!! Had an amazing time, enjoyed the live music, food trucks, vendors, the live duck race, there was a play area for kids.
Ashley A — Google review
We visited antique alley Thursday November 14th. The old town area has alot of old antique buildings. But if you’re looking for antiques we only found 3-4 that actually had antique furniture and some old items. That’s why I only rated it a 3 star. With a name like antique alley, I thought all the stores would have antiques. It’s a quant little area in town. Could be a lot of fun shopping if you’re not just looking for antiques.
Paul S — Google review
Love Trenton St! Memory Lane Antiques on Antique Ally has the best! Mr. Ed and Mrs. Virginia are the nicest ever!
Ginger — Google review
Stopped by a couple of stores but there is a antique store that sells coins I could have spent all day there looking it was great. They had everything you could ever ask for and then some
Julian O — Google review
This was okay. I thrift every single weekend so I decided to give this a go. It was a long drive for me because I live in Bossier. About half of the “Antique Alleyway” is boutiques, or shops selling what are clearly dropshipped items from Amazon or Temu (mixed in with genuine antiques). There were 3 or 4 really good stores that sold only vintage items. However, they were extremely expensive. There was one store I absolutely adored with an older gentleman working the front. He’s bald with a silver beard. I thought he was very fair on his prices. I bought some beanie babies from him today. He had a wide selection of cool items. I wish I could remember the name of his store. It was densely packed with all sorts of glassware, jewelry, old toys, and vintage tchotchkes. All in all, I wouldn’t say it was worth the travel time and gas. I don’t think I’ll be back. It was a lovely drive though!
Lizard ( — Google review
The light were fun. They could use some updates or maybe set them up a little different. Dismemberment is looking great. Wish the stores stepped up the displays a bit.
Doug P — Google review
Very " vintage". Nice hustle n flow. Very old yet happy
Amirahcarolinamariellasimone — Google review
Wish there were more antique stores and flea market stores. The name implies that there would be, but it's more specialty and boutique shops.

Flying Tiger Brewery, located in Monroe, Louisiana, is the first full-scale brewery in northeast Louisiana that produces and packages its beer on-site. The brewery offers a variety of flagship beers as well as rotating selections in its popular taproom situated in downtown Monroe. Paying tribute to the WWII legendary Flying Tigers fighter squadron and General Claire Chennault, a Monroe resident and historic commander, the brewery's name holds historical significance.
Good beer, great food and dog friendly besides. The pizza was incredibly good and the outdoor patio was perfect for our pup. Will definitely come back here next time we are in Monroe, Louisiana.
Elinkjoe — Google review
I personally couldn’t give 5 stars because of the lack of toppings on my pizza, as I usually only eat meat and like to splurge and have pizza from time to time, so this is just a personal preference. Fun atmosphere, my friends salad which I did take a pic of and taste the fresh mozzarella cheese, it’s was yummy! The whole esthetic is fun and we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio afterwards! Weather was pretty cool, plenty of fans, and clean bathroom! You do order at the counter then sit, fyi!
Tina L — Google review
Friendly and welcoming staff. Beer was a fantastic variety. The Chennault was absolutely delicious!
Talisha W — Google review
This place has no business being this good. The beers... I hate to admit it but every city I go to I try to find the best IPA the area offers. They may not want to call their beers IPAs for fear of scaring people off but they are phenomenal. The service is impeccable (EXTREMELY friendly people) and the atmosphere is nice (stereotypical brewery with a dash of local WWII history) despite it's location in the concrete jungle area of Monroe. The pizza is great. Get a side of ranch. Take a four pack to go. You can't ask for anything nicer. And it's in Monroe! Yes, right here! It's world class.
Mike H — Google review
Monroe has needed a place like this. It's fun to use as a party spot for a group. There is a great outdoor area with games (giant blocks and corn hole and some ring game) as well as tables and a large TV under the covered area. There are several tables under this covered area outside. There are dart boards and pinball machines inside as well as comfortable sitting areas with large chairs and sofas. The beer is great. I think their small batch beers that are only available at this site are their best work. They have everything from lighter Blonde, to Double IPA, to Milk Stouts to Saison. There is something for every beer lover. They will even let you bring your own food for a large party for only a small clean up fee. You need to book this early though, as their calendar is BUSY with events. A great group of guys own this place. It's always a good time. Update: Specialty pizza did not disappoint.
Paul V — Google review
They may have started as just a brewery, but they have certainly figured out the pizza. They may have the best brick oven style pizza of anywhere within 100 miles. Their amber is good too. It’s become an almost weekly treat for us.
Mike C — Google review
Stellar brews and food. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Truly miss your stuff being distributed to south Louisiana. May have to make this a periodic pilgrimage!
Thylar C — Google review
The food is amazing!! Crispy, wood fired, flavorful pizza was everything I wanted it to be. Our order came out super fast right out of the oven too. We got The Claire and the kale salad. My husband and I don’t drink so I didn’t really know what to expect but I was so impressed. We went for date night and loved the cozy vibes outside with lights, picnic tables, and heaters. We got salad, pizza, cokes, and brought a board game to play. The staff was so friendly too! Loved it and we will be back to try out all the different pizzas!

Hamilton House Inn in West Monroe is a charming bed and breakfast housed in a historic Romanesque Revival-style building. The inn offers elegant rooms with exposed brick walls, each exuding its own unique character. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi, and snacks during their stay. The owner, Tonya Hamilton, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for visitors and serves up delicious homemade breakfasts.
We often travel through Monroe on the way to visit our daughter. Most of the time we stay at one of the big hotels. We also visit one of our favorite breweries every time we are in town. The most recent visit, I discovered Hamilton House Inn across the street from the brewery. Decided to see if there were any rooms available. There were. The stay was extraordinary. Rooms were beautiful and up-to-date. Also, it must have been one of the quietest places we've ever stayed. The King bed was so comfortable. Breakfast is included, and Sean cooked up a great one. We have now found our go-to location when staying in West Monroe.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel! The room was quite nice, the owner was very friendly, and the location is really nice. We were able to walk to a nearby establishment for dinner and then hang out on the balcony enjoying the sunset over this adorable little town. I’d highly recommend staying here!

My family booked all the rooms for my niece's wedding and were blown away with how beautiful it was. Each room is decorated beautifully and the common areas as well. The patio and large porch are perfect for hanging out. Sean cooked a great breakfast each day and was an amazing host. The location was perfect as you are right on the main street for shopping, eating, and drinking. Thank You for an amazing stay and there were a few of us that wanted to take the beautiful decor home with us! I will definitely rebook a stay here!!! Just gorgeous!!!

Located in Louisiana's Antique Alley, Two Warriors Meadery is the state's sole meadery, founded by two Army veterans, Curtis Sims and Cameron Myers. They are dedicated to reviving the ancient art of mead brewing. Mead, also known as mjod by the Vikings, is a delightful alcoholic beverage crafted from fermented honey and water. Archaeologists believe it may have been mankind's first intentional alcoholic creation.
What a gem! My first mead and oh wow. Interesting mix of flavors and quite a few selections. One of the owners gave us an informative overview of the entire world of mead and gave us a tour of the facility. Can't wait for the hibiscus blend to be ready!! Oh and they can ship to Texas 😁

Really a 10 out of 5 stars!! Stopped by on a whim headed to Trapp's and was pleasantly surprised! The owner and his wife were so nice and very informed. We did the free tasting and ended up purchasing 2 of the bottles! We will most definitely be back for a tour when we are able! Congrats to y'all, y'all are doing a great job!
Mica R — Google review
We travel I-20 from GA to TX at least once a year and Trapp’s is our regular dinner stop. just discovered Two Warriors - friendly folks and we really enjoyed the bottle of Dust Off we bought. Couldn’t stay for a full tasting but appreciated their eagerness to help us choose the right bottle for our tastes. Hoping we might have time to stay longer next trip.
Jeni K — Google review
Ordered 2 bottles online and was not disappointed at all. The order was packed and shipped shortly after I ordered. The packaging itself for the 2 bottles was superb. Fantastic meads, 10/10 would recommend!

Wonderful experience. So friendly and welcoming. Got to try 6 different flavors. I HATE honey, but walked out with a bottle of Mayhaw Madness. It is delicious!! 10/10 recommend.

Parish Restaurant & Bar, a creation of Chef Cory Bahr, offers an upscale yet unpretentious dining experience with visually appealing dishes bursting with Southern flavors. The menu features innovative takes on Southern cuisine, such as the Original Duck Wrap with local honey glaze and deviled eggs with caramelized miso and hot sauce for snacks. For entrees, guests can enjoy house-made pastas or Southern-inspired mains like Louisiana alligator and honey-glazed venison.
Best restaurant in the state!! The chef is a genius with flavors and texture. One bite of their food will leave you wondering if God Himself put Heaven on your plate. Impeccable food and amazing service, all hidden away in Monroe. It’s worth a trip to Louisiana to try this restaurant! I flew in from California a few years ago and this restaurant was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend trying it!
Kristen D — Google review
Definitely a nice place for a date or special occasion and not so much for solo dining. I looked up their menu online before coming and was really looking forward to a dish that apparently they no longer serve. Instead I decided to go with 3 appetizers to get a good sampling. I enjoy sweet potatoes and especially sweet potato pancakes so when I saw sweet potato bread I had to have it! Unfortunately this was the worst thing I ordered, there is no sweet potato in it apparently "milk" from it only and the salt on top was too much, sugar would have probably been nice, oh well. Brussel Sprouts were good and the mint was a very nice touch. Lastly the gnocchi was solid. I would probably return for a special occasion but not solo. Enjoy.
Chris T — Google review
Visiting from out of town and already been to Parish twice in a week. Love the freshness of ingredients and how often the menu changes. The kale + collard caesar salad is one I will dream of and look forward to coming back for whenever I'm in northern LA. The miso deviled eggs were delicious although a bit salty. The Alaskan halibut with whipped celery root was DIVINE. The spice crusted seared tuna dish was an interesting dish - great fish quality. Unfortunately, the tiramisu donut concoction that was recommended by chef was far from my favorite and a disappointing end note to an otherwise amazing meal. The donut is extremely bready - not fresh fried - and the espresso + coffee ice cream was lacking flavor. Calling this dish "tiramisu" is misleading as it doesn't really taste tiramisu forward. I love ingenuity in food, but at the end of the day, it's gotta taste good and be craveable, which it's not. And i shared the dish with my neighbor at the bar who also didnt love it. Sometimes these things are a miss, and that's okay too! Wondering if I can fit in one more night before I leave just to get dessert redemption 🤔😅

We stopped here for our anniversary dinner on our way to Florida. It was amazing! Delicious food, great service, and a great atmosphere! Will definitely be making a trip again! If you are driving through or staying in the area, you should definitely check it out!

Food was amazing! I had the night special soft shell crab I believe it was called and my husband had the steak with truffle fries. Everything tasted amazing
Mirna M — Google review
Had a great dining experience at The Parrish. To start the service was excellent, Dillion was outstanding, very knowledgeable about the drinks and menu and made some great suggestions. Bartenders made excellent DIRTY Martinis. We started off with Hearth Baked Sweet Potato Bread & Duck Wraps in a syrup glaze both were delicious. Wine selection was plentiful and wide variety. Main course for us ranged from Pan Roasted Tasmania Salmon with sweet pea risotto. Which my Dad said was excellent. my Mother had the Louisiana Shrimp & Smoked Tasso Scampi. The pasta was homemade and delightful. We shared the Berkshire Pork Shank and gravy. It was more than enough for two people. We finished the night off with Bread Pudding with a bread pudding connoisseur at the table, said it was the best she ever had. The only negative thing I can say is it was a little noise but might have just been our location and how busy they were. Which is great to see on a Tuesday night. Thank you for a great dining experience we will be back when back in Monroe.
K W — Google review
Food was delicious, per usual. The duck wraps are phenomenal and the whipped burrata was unreal. Never had any complaints with anything on their menu so this being less than a 5 star review is a bit hard to write. Would give 5 stars but I deducted because I am a little disappointed we couldn't use the gift cards we had. Our best friends gifted them to us two Christmases ago but there's somehow no record they were purchased and they had no verifiable balance, so we had to pay out of pocket - which wasn't expected for my husband's birthday dinner. The manager did state they had issues with their gift cards "a couple years back" but I don't feel that much investigating was done past the initial "there's no record of this" so it was a bit disappointing. Rule of thumb: don't let gift cards go past a year. Couple months to be safe. Otherwise great food.
Krista T — Google review
Food and atmosphere were amazing! Though I took some leftovers to-go and found a small hair in the butter, nasty. Other than that, would recommend. Response: The butter that I took home was packaged in a separate container and it was new so we had not interacted with that before opening it to eat it the next day.

Small but powerful. Love the Masur, love the people, love the artists. Beautiful both inside and out.

Love the Masur Museum, I used to volunteer here years ago! Unfortunately, I am now disabled and can't walk up stairs, and when I brought a friend here last weekend to see the Blue Dog exhibit, I was confined to the bottom level because I couldn't go up the stairs. Not going to lie, I was bummed. I know this is a historic building, but us disabled folks would like to see more than the bottom floor.
Mandy H — Google review
Small, but great art selections. "Blue Dog" exhibit was worth the visit.
Trevor H — Google review
Overall, we were disappointed. The house was fascinating, but the museum was underwhelming. We had read that this was a large museum featuring regional artists and several lithographs and etchings by Renoir, Dali, and Chagall. On our visit, the entire building consisted of the art of one (local?) artist. The other building was apparently empty. In addition, the staff were just not very engaging people. I would have expected to be greeted and given a brief rundown of where the exhibit rooms are. Overall, they need variety in the collections and a class in Customer Service 101.
Debbie T — Google review
Very nice local art museum. They have new exhibits come in regularly. Admission is free. Very relaxing place to visit. Usually isn't crowded. Great place for all ages to visit.

Intriguing building. We enjoyed a walk around the outside grounds. I was disappointed to learn that this place is temporarily closed. There are signs posted on the door that they are preparing for a new exhibit and will be closed from May 14th - 29th, 2019. It is an easy to get to and quick find off the highway.

This exhibit is worth exploring more than once. I especially liked the sculptural, textile, and woven pieces. Such a variety of experimental thought provoking work.

Duck Commander is a 10,000-square-foot museum, gift shop, and warehouse in West Monroe owned by the Robertson family of 'Duck Dynasty' fame. The self-guided tour takes visitors through 15 galleries filled with family artifacts, pictures, set recreations, vehicles, and costumes from the show. Miss Kay's Sweets and Eats offers a bakery and coffee shop experience on-site.
The whole reason we pulled pur RV to Louisiana. The tour was fabulous and brought back wonderful memories of the show. Thank you for sharing your family with ours. God Bless.
James F — Google review
It was wonderful! Tours start every 30 minutes. You can browse the souvenir area while waiting for the tour to start. It begins with a 15 minute video about how Duck Commander began and introduces the main family members. Then you walk through areas at your own pace to look at photos, read plaques explaining things, etc. There is a lot to look at. You can browse through quickly and slow down and really take in all of the history. Oh yeah, you get a duck call to put together in the duck call room.
Brandy F — Google review
It was nice to get up there finally. I was disappointed they charged for tours of the warehouse. After riding up from the very bottom of the state the $20 warehouse tour was kind of a slap. So we rode all that way just to take a few pics
Jerry S — Google review
The museum was a lot of fun! They play a video before you enter the museum and that was the most interesting part to me. I learned more about how they got started and it was interesting to see everyone younger and their personalities being true then. Everyone gets to make a duck call. The museum is a lot more about their lives and story than the show. A very cool place!

The Duck Commander was amazing. We particularly enjoyed the museum and it was well worth the money as each of us got to make a duck call. It was a very special day bc they filmed an episode of Duck Dynasty: The Revival Season 1 the same day we visited.
Jeremy L — Google review
It’s part museum, part store. When you take the tour, you get the chance to build your own duck call, which was a fun experience—I really enjoyed it, especially since I’ve watched the show. As with most museums, it’s more about reading and looking at displays, so my kids weren’t as excited, but they did love making and using the duck call!
Arlene B — Google review
WHERE DO I EVEN START???? This place is beyond amazing, well planned and well thought out! I am an avid Duck Dynasty watcher. Dare I say I’m borderline obsessed. Each time I rewatch an episode I find new jokes, and new scenes I somehow missed. I did get a little emotional thinking of Phils recent passing and going through the exhibits of him and Ms Kay. Their story is one that has parallels to my own life and relationships. Just knowing how open and loving this family is just made it all that much more special. In today’s world there is so much focus on wealth, wealth, and looking good for your followers. The Robertson family, in my eyes, were always so humble and relatable and just RAW AND REAL! Thank you for sharing your life with us. I’m firing up the ol Hulu to watch a few episodes tonight!

The park features a paved walkway as well as diverse trails to explore. It is renowned for its beauty and tranquility, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
This park is good for hikes, pleasant strolls, mountain biking, picnics and fishing. It’s fun for the entire family no matter your age. It’s a great activity to try whenever you visit West Monroe, Louisiana.

Rustic Park that serves all ages with lots of structures, fun bridges and it's on the water. Trails being updated and we're badly needed. Bikes, walkers, music venues and lots of kid friendly play areas. One of very few parks nearby
Peter G — Google review
One of the loveliest parks I’ve ever visited! From the moment we arrived, everything felt intentional and welcoming. The grounds were immaculate—fresh-cut grass, clean and open spaces, and plenty of recently refreshed areas that felt alive and well-loved. There are so many bright, safe, and cheerful playgrounds for kids, and the walking trails are beautifully varied—different terrains, scenic views, and clearly marked with numbers and emergency markers. Whether you're walking, biking, or just strolling with your dog, there’s something for everyone (including intense biking trails if you're more daring than me!). The dog park was adorable and thoughtfully maintained with plenty of cleaning stations and bags. And speaking of the vibe? So friendly. People actually greet each other on the trails! It gave a real sense of community. We were blown away by the little free libraries scattered throughout the park—such a beautiful reflection of shared values and care. There’s also a monarch butterfly habitat, a peaceful garden area, gorgeous tennis courts, sand volleyball, and community stages and event spaces. Multiple gazebos added to the charm and gave us the perfect shady spots to rest and take it all in. It only cost $1 to get in, but by the time we left, we truly felt like we should’ve paid more. A hidden gem that’s clearly maintained with love.

A beautiful and well-maintained park that has something for everyone! And the cost is extremely public friendly. $1.00 per person! Wonderful! Today's visit was an impromptu lunch with a friend. Picked up pulled-pork plates with roasted vegetables and a rainbow salad from For His Temple and headed for the park! An enjoyable conversation over a healthy and tasty meal in a safe and aesthetically pleasing setting. You can't beat that! A gift from God!

We had our Great Granddaughters birthday party there. It's a really nice park. Lots of playgrounds and tennis courts and volleyball courts. Picnic tables, and event shelters. It even has a lake. I took lots of family pics of family members not many of just the park if you look hard in the background you can see one of the larger playgrounds. It was pretty crowded the day we were there. ( Please cover my family I don't know how to do that.)

Nature & Parks
Restoration Park in West Monroe is a hidden treasure, having been transformed from a former strip mine into a wetland habitat with a strong environmental message. This park remains underrated and often overlooked by visitors. As you venture out onto the pavilions overlooking the swamp, you'll be greeted by an abundance of turtles right below the sheltered area. Witnessing this spectacle is truly captivating and awe-inspiring.
Although it is highly unlikely to find an alligator 🐊 here, there's always that small possibility. We didn't see any on our trip, but we did see man, many turtles 🐢, and fish 🐠. We was a super neat and cute park. Lots of shade and different trails to explore. Perfect for a short hike or a couple of laps around.

No rooms really came out for a different location to fish and rake in a fresh supper. On contrary of things been negative for the fishing trip. GREAT time though!

Volleyball court, swings, covered pavilion with picnic tables & many trees children can easily climb with a ranger station across the street. Just got a coffee in the morning but its a positive experience and I am anxious to get back to try their lunch menu! It’d be awesome if they someday are able to extend the food hours (lunch is 11-2:30 or something like that) because it looks like good healthy food!

It was amazing!!! The food was FANTASTIC!!! I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese, and it was perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing! I also got the Red Velvet Mocha Latte (iced) and it was a great blend of sweetness, milk, and espresso! I would definitely recommend coming to Standard!

It came up in my search for specialty coffee and I lucked out, as it is the real deal for coffee aficionados like me. I deviated from my standard black and enjoyed their raspberry swirl with an avocado toast. Recommended.
Jay F — Google review
Nice coffee shop and cafe. Very much feels like a downtown type of place versus just a friendly local out of the way sort of place. Their breakfast food options were very limited (love a good bagel but they mainly had pastries and muffins) but seems they open their kitchen for lunch and offer more food options then. 4 starts in lieu of 5 isn't about the location or price....it's more just that their lattes did not taste very good. Seems they do a lot of things well but a good hot latte is not one of them. They are seemingly frequented by what seems like folks from their downtown and maybe they just accept this as good coffee. I would probably recommend other local options if ambiance is not 90%+ of what you're looking for.
E.M. M — Google review
The Salmon bowel was so delicious, I would have it twice in one day it’s that good! I wish they had a bigger tea selection. But, overall our order came out in a timely manner and everything else was great!

White Lightning made with almond milk and a cheddar bacon scone were excellent! Easy parking, lots of seating, serve yourself water station - all great!
Billy H — Google review
Classic independent coffee shop. The warm smell of fresh brewed coffee wafts over you as you walk in the door. Has classic mellow coffee shop music! Iconic artwork on the walls. This is the kind of place where you get there early, grab a cup of brew, and cozy into a book for a few hours. By the way the coffee was great! They have a talented crew behind the counter. A small assortment of snacks is available. If I lived in the area this would be my regular haunt. I'd be the weird old guy in the corner, but still it's a great place. It's easy to find, and parking is available adjacent to the building and on the street. There are a couple of tables and chairs out front if you want to brave the heat. But it was kind of pleasant early in the morning. I had a regular cup of coffee it has a strong dark flavor. Very nice! Great local coffee shop. Wish I was hanging out longer!

Zoos & Aquariums
Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo is a 80-acre zoological park and gardens that offers more than just animal exhibits. Visitors can enjoy train rides through grassland and cypress tree forests, boat rides on the Safari Boat through swamps, and the Budgie Exhibit and Tortoises Feeding Exhibit. Kids can explore the children's petting zoo and take jungle cruise boats through the area.
On the 22nd of June , my family and I visit the zoo. Please keep in mind the is still growing. There was no wait time. We wanted to ride on the train but was unavailable at the time of our visit. Another unique thing that they have is a boat ride which we didn't have enough time to do because we were scheduled to return to the family reunion. It's a great place to visit and we plan to come back in the near future.
Nubian A — Google review
We had a good time with my daughters and grandson. The grounds were clean and it wasn’t crowded. My grandson loved the playground. And I can’t wait to bring him back this summer when the splash pad is open. I gave it a 4/5 since some of the exhibits were empty, but overall I would definitely come back. Ages of children brought: 2, 12 and 14
Melissa H — Google review
This wasn’t our first visit, but the zoo has upgraded. We loved the splash pad. The kiddos were excited to see the animals and so many birds.
Sharon S — Google review
I love taking my kids to the zoo! It is one of our favorite things as a whole. It always seems very clean, and quiet for the most part. The gift shop is amazing! My kids want something every time of course. The little cafe provides just big enough portions for us while we are there. All the staff so far are accommodating and well informed. We will continue to visit this zoo often. It is a cheaper way to get the family together outside and you may even learn a thing or two!
Sara H — Google review
I've been to the LPGZ several times, and the kids enjoy it. They have a splash pad at the end of the exhibits to cool off during the spring/summer. I enjoy the boat tour they offer personally and also the train ride. The only reason I didnt give it 5 star is some exhibits could be cleaner, they have abandoned exhibits you have to walk thru and honestly they are dirty in some cases very dirty, however they have new construction going on and seem to be upgrading the zoo constantly. We will definitely be back and enjoy the zoo
Jeremy A — Google review
Quick stop while traveling through. somewhat low budget zoo. A lot of weeds and tall grass. Several exhibits looked rundown. Staff was friendly..
Jason A — Google review
This GEM, smaller zoo, is nestled somewhat in a residential area. I was wonderfully surprised once I entered. The zoo safari boat ride is a MUST do!!! It was a 20-minute guided tour. The young man driving the boat was very knowledgeable about the animals we saw. He answered all questions that were asked. Walking around looking at the animals in their habitats was typical. There is a larger splash area for children to get wet. I was DISAPPOINTED that the train wasn't running due to maintenance. I was looking forward to the ride. Even though I drove 2 hours for the visit, I would definitely visit again. However, I will call 1st to make sure the train is scheduled to run 😁.
Ammie S — Google review
The grounds of the zoo are beautiful. Large established trees and beautiful flowers. There were some areas that looked dated, and some of the animal cages were too small or deteriorating. We enjoyed the animals we were able to see, and it seems that improvements are on the horizon as they had many areas roped off and under construction. Excited to come back and see what it will look like after the renovations.

My baby sister wanted to take us to Walk On's Sports Bistreaux in West Monroe, Louisiana, and it was a great decision. I ordered a Fried Catfish Platter and Oh My God, that catfish was the absolute best. I can only imagine if it had Cajun and Cayenne seasoning on it. Can't say it enough, delicious. The wife says her salad was delicious as well. Waitress was pleasant and very attentive. The process were pretty reasonable as well. Even my three little nieces enjoyed the food. Located in downtown Monroe, Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum is a vibrant and interactive space designed to stimulate children's development through hands-on experiences. The museum features imaginative exhibits that mimic real-world environments, encouraging kids to explore various roles such as restaurant workers at Kids' Cafe, healthcare professionals at Discovery Hospital, and more. With exhibits catering to children of all ages, this museum offers year-round family fun and educational opportunities. Staff members are dedicated to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of every child who visits.
We've been to the children's museum numerous times, but this time we were surprised to see some old play areas rotated out. They've recently added an interactive solar system exhibit, giant magnetic blocks and Lincoln blocks. Also, what I'd call a flying ribbon play station (big hit for the toddler.) This visit, we stayed for two hours and would have stayed longer if it wasn't for nap time. Our favorite family spot is the Play Cafe. The older and smaller kids are able to play well together and even include the adults. Some may hesitate on the entrance fee for adults, but trust me when I say you will find something to entertain you too. Us adults always get distracted by the puzzle games and domino train table. I'd be lying if I said we didn't also enjoy the imaginative play with our toddler at all the other stations as well.

They have recipes there for different cultures of foods you may not have ever known about or tried before and even kits with the recipe ready to go for a night of cooking and you want to try something new . The Spice & Tea Exchange is an absolute gem for the small town of West Monroe! It is surrounded by the cutest quaint shops. When walking in, you will be greeted with a wonderful aroma as well as some of the kindest people. They have a wide variety of spices, teas, oils, honeys and accessories. I am an avid matcha drinker, so I was so happy they had a little section for that. One of the employees even helped me choose the right one for myself. While we are only visiting family and just happened to stumble upon this shop, we will definitely be making this one of the places we must stop by when coming in the future.

The second you walk in, the smell of the shop is just lovely. Sherry (I hope I’m correct on the spelling) was so kind! She read me like a book and helped me find a bunch of goodies that I can’t wait to try! I’m excited to come back to try something from their in-shop tea bar! God bless 🫶🏻

Beautiful store with amazing spices, salts, teas, sugar and oils! The aroma was fabulous! The staff were very helpful and helped me pick out a perfect tea for a friend of mine. I stocked up on a couple of my favorite blends and I got a new salt to try - it has activated charcoal!

Lazarre Park, located in West Monroe, LA, is a versatile outdoor space along the Ouachita River. It offers two disc golf courses and a boat launch for visitors to enjoy. The park hosts events like the annual Ronald McDonald House Big Bass Tournament and the local Celtic Fest. With well-maintained facilities including covered pavilions, it's an ideal spot for family reunions, picnics, or parties.
It was a great park; I had so much fun playing with little fishes that were stealing my bait from the boat dock. Great birthday gift for me
Phyllis W — Google review
Lazarre Park is probably one of the most underrated parks in the area. Aside from the river access, it is one of the best places around for disc golf. The local Celtic Fest was held here this year. With 18 years running, this was one of the best turnouts for the festival yet. I do hope the city continues to sponsor larger events like this here again. Well done Parks Department! It's been a year since I posted this review. I just wanted to update with a couple of new photos. It's great to see attention being given to the park for events like the Celtic Fest and Woofstock.

When I think about parks, I think of a playground for kids, restroom facilities, and parking spaces. There was very little parking which looked to be on one side of the park only. Also, there were no toys and I didn't see a restroom. If you are looking to go somewhere to be by yourself for a few, this may be the place for you.

Demi was an excellent party assistant. She constantly checked to make sure we had plenty to drink, clearly explained how our arcade games worked, brought the meal on time, and answered any of our questions. The party room was clean and prepped upon our arrival. We had a great time. We’ll definitely be partying here again!

We have an awesome tennis community! Patiently waiting on the new courts. Hoping for big things with our tennis community in months to come. New courts still not ready. Contractor delays AGAIN! Does not speak well for this contractor. Hopefully it will all end well. One day soon... New pickleball courts are being played on NOW!! New tennis courts still locked to public. I'm told they are waiting until they have hired more help to monitor the courts. What a shame the parks and rec department didn't anticipate this need and have that ready when the courts were finally turned over to the city a few weeks ago. Maybe Grind-to-a-hault-Stone will get the building finished one day. Maybe. No bleachers upstairs really limits how many can view the courts at one time. I guess it's still an improvement and I just need to be happy with that.... Now the fence is finished around the new courts. So they are just staying locked up for now. Hopefully they will hire help soon.

Layton Castle in Monroe, Louisiana, is one of those rare, serendipitous discoveries that can change your entire perspective on a place. Picture yourself with a fine glass of wine, reclining under the sprawling canopy of ancient trees, while the golden hour sun bathes the meticulously kept castle and gardens in a warm, nostalgic glow. It’s like being transported to an era when grandeur wasn’t just a concept but a way of life. Wondering how to immerse yourself in this slice of heaven? Layton Castle offers several paths: you can book one of their impeccably restored apartments on Airbnb, settle in for a long-term rental, or even host your wedding or special event here. Trust me, making the time to experience this gem is worth it. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Layton Castle will leave an indelible mark on your soul.

Excellent presentation by an actual descendant of original owners who was fascinating and engaging in her delivery! Wonderful references to local, Louisiana historical figures as well as a good representation of Southern living from a bygone era. Researched subjects included family relationships with former slaves who were well treated and respected; Carol Parson’s extraordinary friendships with sculptor Edmund Williamson, NY playwright Speed Lampkin and other notable artists; cultural events held traditionally at the castle like ballroom dancing & fundraisers for Grace Episcopal Church and a historically significant pigeon house and wine cellar where you can read about developments in bottle manufacturing. On-site cemetery and beautifully maintained grounds provide ample walking opportunities. Exquisite interior furnishings reflect superior craftsmanship (ornate Italian marble throughout with lovely chandeliers and inlaid furniture) and treasures from constant worldwide travel (china, artwork, books, silver and crystal, etc.) gently preserved for posterity. Delightful way to spend an afternoon and I highly recommend going. Such a treasure in Monroe!

The Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum in Monroe is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of this iconic soft drink. It was home to Joseph Biedenharn, the first person to bottle Coca-Cola. The museum offers a glimpse into the past with its collection of vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia and also allows visitors to tour the beautifully furnished home and garden. Additionally, it houses a stunning collection of historical Bibles.
Not sure how one of the other reviewers could not follow the clearly marked signs. But the wife and I had no problem finding the entrance and speaking with the two folks running the small but interesting museum next to the Biedenharn house. If you are a Pepsi drinker it might still be interesting to see the evolution of how Joe Biedenharn harnessed the new fad of Coke by bottling it. Before one had to go to a Soda Fountain or candy store that had a soda fountain to enjoy a Coke. He built a bottling empire that employed his descendants since. The different bottles over the years was a tidbit as well as how the original stopper made a popping sound and originated the term, "Pop" for a soft drink. The two folks working there were a wealth of information and were willing and happy to share their information.

Came upon this place while traveling with my wife. I parked directly across the street. I walked across the street to the sidewalk and followed the sidewalk to a sign that pointed through an open gate that said welcome room. A sign next to the open gate displays the hours of operation. I followed the sign towards the welcome room and promptly was accounted by a woman wanting to know who I was and what was I doing there. Suffice it to say, the welcome room wasn’t at all welcoming. I ended my visit and will never come back. I don’t recommend it all with ‘hosts’ like this.

Stacie S — Google review
Significance: Construction of the G.B. Cooley residence commenced in 1926. The architect, William Burley Griffin, was an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright (1902-1906). Griffin initially designed the house in 1910, at which time the plans were exhibited at the Chicago Architectural Club. In 1912 Griffin won a competition to plan Canberra, the capital city of Australia, to which he soon removed. The Cooley House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 at a state level of significance; it is believed to be the only Prairie style house in Louisiana and Griffin's only such house in the south. Plans included landscaping, exterior garden walls, a pool and fountain, detached garage. Features include architect designed lamps, doors and windows. Walls are concrete, flooring cork. Other advanced features were a central vacuum system, central heating with steam and a tiled sauna/steam room. One hundred casement windows and an attic fan provided ventilation.

Our first stay with Harvest Hosts…this one will be hard to beat! It is so easy to access. Hookups if needed or you can boondock which we did. A beautiful setting and the owners are so friendly. We did a wine tasting and then relaxed with a glass overlooking the vineyard. There is a disc golf course so we walked around the property after dinner. We will definitely be back!

Wow! What a gem Landry’s Vineyard is! We rented a campsite overlooking the vineyard and the views were beautiful. The wines are absolutely fabulous - I’ve never enjoyed such a wide range of wines. The owners Jeff & Libby are so welcoming and knowledgeable. The tour is a must so Jeff can teach you a bit about winemaking and provide a sneak peek of their operations. Live music on Saturday night and pizza on the patio made for a fun evening. Wonderful people have built a beautiful business!

Relaxing Harvest Host stay. Quality all the way. Beautiful vineyard. Staff was excellent. Tried and purchased some wine. Hook ups were excellent. Very chill location. At times they have music, which would have been nice - but then less chill. Just a great spot!!

Came here through our harvest host app to spent a night with our motorhome. Parking and set up was a breeze. Wine-tasting was very enjoyable thanks to Jennalee. After enjoying another bottle of our choice we took our purchase and enjoyed the evening in our RV. Everything is super clean and very much organized. Definitive worth a recommendation!!!

Of my gazillion years living in North Louisiana, I never knew about this hidden gem. Fabulous place to toast with friends, a little dancing even a hay ride through the Vineyard. Family oriented. And the best thing of all, wines made on site. Please go out and support Landry's wine.

Landry’s Vineyards was an amazing experience. We were treated like family, we felt very welcomed and pampered. We rented one of the cottages on the property. The cottage was cozy and the scenery was beautiful. The tour was educational and very interesting. The music was fun, we met a lot of amazing people. We are already talking to family members about putting our crew together and making another trip here. Do yourself a favor, visit Landry Vineyards, you won’t regret it!

Absolutely fabulous cabin and activities at the vineyard. Libby is an amazing host, very thoughtfully! We had tons of activities at the vineyard between wine tastings, a 5k and concert.

Excalibur Family Fun Center is a kid-friendly amusement center that offers various entertainment options such as laser tag, go-karts suitable for all ages, arcade games, and mini-golf. It is a great place for fun activities and has received positive feedback from visitors who were in town for a baseball tournament. The staff at Excalibur Family Fun Center are friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service.
We went on a Friday. The 13th actually And it wasn’t crowded at all. The workers were great. We spent over 4 hours there and I only came out of pocket about $100 for 3 kids and myself to do plenty and play plenty. It was our first visit but it won’t be the last.
Gloris W — Google review
Spent a good amount of time here. Ended up doing the family fun package that's $62 for 8 activity passes, 1 large pizza,4 large drinks and tokens for the arcade. With two adults and 1 8 year old that package is sufficient. Imagine chuckee cheese only better arcade, prizes and activities. I really wish they would have had swords or merchandise to buy. Bumper cars are only on the weekend which kinda sucks but we will definitely be back.
Fiesty V — Google review
Excalibur deserves a negative star because of the disgusting behavior displayed during a child's party. The manager (which was a short guy with brown hair) was very rude and disgustingly disrespectful. The manager was being rude and nasty in front of the entire party and guests. We NEVER received assistance from our hostess which was apart of the package that we purchased. We constantly had to leave the party to ask for needed items that was supposed to be provided. It's NOT worth the headache. The staff members were unprofessional and no one would tell us their names and didn't have name tags in order to receive a compliment or complaint. Disgusting treatment and trash experience.

They definitely made our time at Excalibur that much more fun! GO OUTLAWS! 😀

Great place but someone needs to change the hours for Sunday on the google business page. People waste time and money to come to a closed building.

Staff is very poor, we showed up very early to tryouts and there wasn't anybody in the facility. They would not let him warm up because they didn't want to chase the ball ! Why would they have to chase the ball that I'm there with my son warming up?? Poor excuse for your laziness...you should be upset with yourselves

FJK Art Gallery is a true treasure in our community! The display of abstracts, landscapes and character studies rivals works I have seen in major art destinations. The added bonus is the opportunity to meet Frank Kelley. He is a gracious host and willing to share the inspiration for his works. The purchase I made brings me great joy.. I highly recommend stopping in or scheduling an appointment to enjoy this experience!

Frank's creativity and artistic detail is absolutely remarkable. I have attended several mixers and open house events and was never disappointed. Very well organized with art display that captures the essence of style, history, visions from the past, and abstracts brought to life through his lens. You must experience this amazing gallery and artist to appreciate his work.

Mr Kelley at FKJ Art Gallery is one of the nicest people I’ve met. He welcomed my son and I into the studio and discussed his work with us including how he began creating artwork. His pieces are beautifully crafted. Looking forward to our next visit to his studio!

Frank's pieces have added warmth and character to my home. I bought prints of "Voice with Keys" and "Confessions of Jazz" and they are among my most prized possessions. I have also presented his work to family members as gifts. A piece from Frank Kelley Jr. is a worthy investment and a great addition to your home or office.

Small art gallery featuring a small collection of artists tucked back behind a beautiful courtyard. The owners are very friendly and quick to answer questions about their featured pieces/artists. Great selection of shirts and prints for those that might not be ready to purchase an artist original. I recommend checking it out, and supporting an artist if you can!
