Chimney Rock State Park is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The park boasts the iconic Chimney Rock, a 315-foot monolith offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. Visitors can reach the top by climbing 500 steps or taking the elevator for those who prefer an easier ascent. The surrounding area features Main Street with its array of shops, restaurants, and scenic views of the mountainsides.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chimney Rock State Park is absolutely breathtaking! Shelly and I took the elevator up to the top, and the views from Chimney Rock were nothing short of awe-inspiring — mountains, valleys, and endless beauty in every direction. The staff and park rangers were all friendly, helpful, and informative, which made the visit even better. On the drive up, we even spotted a bear — a once-in-a-lifetime memory that reminded us just how wild and wonderful these mountains are. What stood out most was the peacefulness. Even though this is a popular spot, it never felt crowded. It was serene, quiet, and truly a place where you can slow down and take in the natural beauty of Western North Carolina. Highly recommend making the trip — whether you hike or take the elevator, the view at the top is worth every second. 🌄

Great place to go hike. The top of chimney rock was really neat to see. You could see the whole river along lake lure and chimney rock. The hikes were moderate. My 4 and 6 year olds did the waterfall hike and the trail to exclamation point. There is a elevator that takes you to the top if you can’t climb the stairs up. Great family place. Will be back.
Sarah T — Google review
The park features hiking trails for all skill levels, views of the Devil's Head balancing rock, a tight squeeze through Subway, and a 404-foot waterfall, Hickory Nut Falls. Its most notable feature is the flag-waving, 315-foot gneiss monolith named Chimney Rock, which is accessible by elevator or up 500 stairs and provides views of the surrounding countryside and Lake Lure. There is a timed entry admission per person that is done online. Parking at the bottom and top. Shuttles run during peak seasons. Gift shops and food sales.
Gordon S — Google review
This is a great place to visit with a beautiful you. My 92-year-old father came with us on this trip, so the elevator was definitely a draw to here. He still gets around very well for his age, can walk around quite easily without a wheelchair but does get winded. The elevator gave him the ability to view from a much higher level than if it had not been there. They are gift shops, a cave, and spectacular views from the gift shop level. We've been a few times before and walk the entire trail, was just very appreciative of him being able to come and see the sites.
Philip S — Google review
Chimney Rock is one of the most iconic and breathtaking spots in North Carolina. The moment you reach the top — whether you hike or take the elevator — you’re met with these incredible panoramic views of Lake Lure, rolling mountains, and endless sky. It feels like you’re standing on the edge of the world. The trails are well-marked and offer a mix of challenge and reward. Hickory Nut Falls is definitely worth the walk — the waterfall is tall, peaceful, and surrounded by gorgeous forest scenery. Even the shorter pathways have amazing viewpoints and spots for photos. What I love most is how clean and well-maintained the park is. The stairways and overlooks feel sturdy and safe, and there are plenty of resting points if you want to take your time. You can go at your own pace, breathe in the mountain air, and just take in the views. If you’re anywhere near Lake Lure or Asheville, Chimney Rock is an absolute must. The scenery is unforgettable, the photos come out stunning, and it truly gives you that magical North Carolina mountain experience.
Veronika T — Google review
Beautiful views from the top. Very tourist filled place even in the off season. Take the elevator or make the climb up a ton of steps. Nice pull off stops for photo ops. Views of the river and recovery process from Hurricane Helene. Nice fall colors emerging.
C L — Google review
Easy trails and stunning views. The drive into the park was gorgeous! We didn't bring food with us, although there were plenty of picknick spots. The store at the top has some great sandwiches though, and this location can serve as a relaxing quick bite place with a stunning view.
Matthew R — Google review
Loved every second! Glad I came and supported such a sweet, cute mountain town, especially after the destruction that Hurricane Helen caused, it was good to pop in and spend money and be thankful for everything! I’m from Florida and a part where we hadn’t seen this in 100 years, it was crazy to see how affected such a place like chimney rock! I’d go back in a second. Asked a sweet woman in one of the shops about the lake, learned they had to drain it because of the damage from the hurricane. Wild. Sending love and prayers, I’ll be back.

Embark on the Hickory Nut Falls Trail, a 0.7-mile moderate hike suitable for families with children. The trail leads to the base of a magnificent 404-foot waterfall, one of the tallest in the eastern United States. Along the unpaved dirt path, hikers can find several resting spots and picnic benches to enjoy scenic views. It's important to wear proper footwear as the trail is unpaved, and reaching the waterfall may require water shoes or barefoot hiking.
It was a pleasant experience to observe such a great waterfall and hike up the trail. The trail itself wasn’t complicated . It took about 20 mins to get up and get down. However it was really hot , there’s not a lot of breeze on the trail. So it’s important to take some breaks. Waterfall was excellent. Got some great pictures, couldn’t get any closer since it was packed with people. I would say the experience of exploring a new place was outstandingly amazing. Simply didn’t enjoy to see that many people. So , if you go there , you should pick a better season with cooler weather additionally try to avoid summer times since it gets hectic. Overall , I enjoyed my time there!
Daria H — Google review
This place is beautiful. Right off of the road, but there are a lot of steps down to the Falls. Not recommended for handicapped visitors.
Brannon H — Google review
This trail is easy to moderate. It does have some winding parts and rocks. You do have to climb stairs when you reach the falls. On this trail you are at the bottom of the falls. It is absolutely worth the walk of the trail. Absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend if you are visiting Chimney Rock!
April B — Google review
The views from this hike are absolutely STUNNING. There is seating along the path for occasional breaks as well.
Bailey H — Google review
Moderate hike, with some areas of steeper incline; but doable for children and families. The unpaved dirt trail is plain to see; so you can't get lost. At the end of the trail where the waterfall is, you can climb across the rocks and walk right up to the falls. Beautiful views. Just make sure you check the weather before hiking because lightning storms are common up there.
Kimberly A — Google review
Great experience and great hike down and back from the Fall!
Nicholas G — Google review
Be prepared to pay $17 per adult even if you’re only doing one trail. To many free trails in the Smokey’s to pay for a trail. Pay the difference in gas and go to the Smokey mountains and experience so much more.
Matt G — Google review
This trail offers a moderate level of difficulty, suitable for both beginner and intermediate hikers. It is important to note that the trail is unpaved, so proper footwear is essential for a safe and comfortable hike. Upon reaching the waterfall, water shoes or barefoot hiking is recommended. The total distance of the round trip is approximately 1.4 miles.

Scenic spot
Hickory Nut Falls is a stunning natural attraction located within Chimney Rock State Park. The waterfall can be accessed by hiking either up from the Four Seasons Trail entrance or down from the Hickory Nut Falls Trail access near the upper parking lot restrooms. The trail to the falls is relatively flat and easy, making it an enjoyable experience for visitors. The area surrounding the falls offers picturesque views and opportunities to admire smaller waterfalls along the way.
Hiked this trail a few hours before the park closed for the night. The trail wasn't difficult to walk. When you get to the end, the waterfall is absolutely gorgeous and serene. My fiance proposed to me here. It was perfect. I recommend this trail yo anyone that visits chimney rock. The views are also fantastic throughout this trail and the entire park.
Kellie H — Google review
The trail to Hickory Nut Falls is a moderately easy, 1.4-mile round-trip hike that takes about 45–60 minutes. The path winds through a lush, mixed hardwood forest with benches and picnic spots along the way. Hickory Nut Falls is a beautiful and relaxing hike—easy enough for most, with a stunning waterfall at the end that makes the walk totally worth it. The mix of quiet forest, cool mist, and great views makes this one of the more enjoyable trails in the Chimney Rock area. Highly recommend!
Srinivas K — Google review
Nice little trek up to the falls by Chimney Rock. Pretty trail, moderate hiking. Skip the steps back and follow the trail back to the parking lot for a quick exit. Pretty falls area, limited viewing space so can be crowded at busy times.
C L — Google review
Beautiful waterfall! One of the highest east of Mississippi. The hike is easy, only 1.5 miles round-trip with tons of trees that provide shade. Once you get to the waterfall, you will admire the massive wall where the water starts to fall. The refreshing pure water gives you a booster after the walk. Really beautiful piece of nature!
Francisco C — Google review
Beautiful waterfall. Bring a change of clothes because you will definitely want to step in.
Alisha T — Google review
We spent 90 minutes trying to get here using google maps and ended up at closed gates after a long one way dirt ride navigating rocks branches pot holes ect. I was so excited to take our family here and never got to hike or see the waterfall

Not worth going to up of waterfall. Bottom is nice.

Very pretty, there's a trail to see it from the bottom and to see it from the top, both are worth it

The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is a historic 1925 highway bridge that has been transformed into a stunning garden. Closed to traffic in 2011, the bridge now features an array of flowers and sculptures maintained by local volunteers, attracting butterflies and visitors alike. The area surrounding Lake Lure and Chimney Rock is steeped in history, with Dr. Lucius B. Morse playing a significant role in their development.
My husband Craig and I visited a few days ago. I’m not going to lie, I cried. I have been here before. I’ve seen the pictures online and saw how this place has grown and how lovely it had become, but I was not prepared for the complete devastation that Hurricane Helene’s flooding brought to the area. I thought I was, but I really wasn’t. I hope there will be a way for the area to rebuild or recreate the serene setting once again. It was so lovely. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. ❤️

Used to love this place, now you can't even tell it was there bc of #hurricanehelene almost a year ago. Pray for this community.

My family and I visited in the first week of June. The gardens were in full bloom. Absolutely gorgeous! My wife and I were very surprised to see how many different species of flowers and plants there were. I was honestly expecting the gardens to be smaller and it being a quick visit but we were actually there roughly 30 min ands would have stayed longer if we didn't have to go to the restroom. We absolutely loved and adored the rainbow bridge dedicated to our lost furry friends. We actually lost a beloved doggie family member last year and the bridge brought back some great memories! Thank you so much to the kind souls for sharing the gardens with everyone! Donations highly encouraged!
Efrain G — Google review
This place is awesome! It is all maintained by volunteers and what a phenomenal job they have done! The weather was perfect as we strolled around the gardens. The gardens just celebrated their 10-year anniversary. What an amazing place with fantastic views of chimney Rock! So if you and your family are in the area please make this a must do while you're there it's kid-friendly and pet friendly as they have water bowls for your fur babies all through the gardens! Update: with heavy heart I have been told this beautiful garden is now gone. Completely washed away by hurricane Helene. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected 🙏🙏💔💔
Susan G — Google review
This spot is absolutely beautiful! The pictures don't do it any justice. There were so many different kinds of flowers and every one of them were so pretty!! The Rainbow Bridge for the pets was so sweet and brought a tear to my eyes. We loved everything about this area.
Nikki A — Google review
We visited to add our beloved dog’s collar to the rainbow bridge. It was an emotional experience but I’m so grateful this place exists for mourning pet parents. The surrounding gardens were stunning and therapeutic to walk through. It’s such a whimsical location with many “Easter eggs” to look out for. We loved spotting all the painted “book” rocks, such a unique and lovely attraction. Hope to be back one day soon.
MChey — Google review
I had the best day exploring the Lake Lure area in beautiful NC! First we went hiking at Chimney Rock State Park, if you've never been there you have to go, I was blown away by the beauty! Then afterwards we took a short ride down the road to see The Flowering Bridge. It's an old bridge that was brilliantly converted into a walking garden. It's free but there are donation boxes to help with the upkeep. There are so many pretty areas to see, there's a rainbow bridge for all the doggies that went to heaven and their collars are attached to the bridge🥺 so sweet, there's Peter Rabbits garden, a pretty gazebo with a glass chandelier, gorgeous flowers everywhere and it all overlooks the lake. It's a small bridge, easily walkable and it leads into town where there are shops and restaurants plus beautiful Lake Lure is close by. It's so well done, I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth seeing if you're in the area!
Lynn M — Google review
This was a really fun place to stop and enjoy the sights and smells of the beautiful plants and flowers. The garden is cleverly laid out with themes for different areas and all of the plants are labeled so you know what you're looking at. This will be even better when the shop is open and you can buy the brick books... What a great idea for the garden!

Brewery
Nestled in the scenic Chimney Rock Village near Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Brewing Co. is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The brewery offers a variety of handcrafted beers, including the easy-drinking Broad River Blonde Ale, perfect for those seeking a light and refreshing option. Situated along the banks of The Rocky Broad River, this unique taproom provides a tranquil setting to unwind and enjoy local brews.
If you're passing through or climbing Chimney Rock and you need to stop in here for a beer. The staff were all down to earth and friendly, the selection is small but it's quality over quantity. I highly recommend the Sweet Apple Cider it is so good. And the food is surprisingly good for a small brewery, like honestly I wasn't expecting much but it was delicious. I got the pulled pork and loaded potato wedges. Do I even need to mention the gorgeous view and calmness. A very good spot to hang out and relax.
C C — Google review
Learned about this place in Blue Ridge Motorcycling magazine and stopped in today 12/20/2023 after visiting Chimney Rock SP. Glad I saw the article and stopped in cuz this place is awesome! I had the special which was a Blackened Shrimp PoBoy, my wife had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and my son had the Pork Nachos. It was all delicious! And don't forget the cole slaw on the side because it's the best cole slaw I've ever had. I'm not really a cole slaw guy, but I ate mine and scavenged the table to finish off everyone else's! The Nachos were piled high with pork and cheese. Their pork has a deliciously smoky flavor. Add in a basket of oven braised brussels sprouts....you won't be sorry you did! I washed it all down with a Devils' Head Red Ale which was excellent. And it was all served by great folks that made sure our visit was enjoyable. Oh, and they have several levels of deck so you can have a seat overlooking the river, or sit so close to it that there are signs about swimming! LOL We will definitely return and this will be a target for future motorcycle rides to the area. Keep an eye on their FB page for events and live music! Thanks Nick!

It's small, but awesome! This is a wonderful little brewery right on the river and literally has a groundhog that will occasionally visit customers and join them for a snack. It's adorable. It has solid brews, good food, friendly service, and is primarily outdoor seating along the Broad River. Great spot to relax and have a brew! Cheers!

Traveling to Lake Lure North Carolina, we stopped in the town of Chimney Rock North Carolina for a refreshment at the Chimney Rock Brewing Co. I tried their pale ale and lager. Both were very good. On a subsequent visit, yes, it was definitely worth going back, I tried the IPA, and this was as good as any I've had in Maine. For a snack, we ordered wings. They were cooked to perfection. They also have wine for the non beer drinker. The view is spectacular, the seating over looks the Broad river and is in the shadow of Chimney Rock state park.

I really wish I could have given it more stars. When we first entered today we were confused about ordering food. The worker was kind of off putting and a little snippy to us. I explained we have never been there before so he explained that we order up front. When I asked if we wait for the food he said “we give you a beeper” but not in a kind way. Anyways we ordered a snack and 2 ciders and made our way down 2 flights of stairs to find a seat. The view is beautiful with the river but the place is super small. I follow them on Facebook and it looks nothing like what they show. Anyways, we ended up talking to people so it was a pleasant afternoon. I would not go back.
Robin F — Google review
First time here was Oct 2022 with 2 friends. Beautiful local brewery right on the river. Great craft been and really good food. I got the coffee stout and my 2 friends both got the wheat beer. We also got the pretzels with beer cheese dip and the pork nachos. Both were awesome and I had 2 stouts as I'm a dark beer person. This will be added to the list of places to return to.
Lee B — Google review
Maybe the best view in town. A perfect pet friendly patio to sit and watch the water roll by while drinking good English style beers. The food is simple fried fare but done very well. The staff is extremely friendly as are the locals. One of them being a groundhog that lives nearby. We spent several hours just sipping beer and listening to the river, and I can’t wait to do it again
Jackson B — Google review
We popped in for a beer as our first stop on the river walk, very small indoor area to get out of the rain but they have a seating area which gives you a wonderful view of the river and the mountain peeking out through the clouds. The beer was delicious, top notch, the staff were friendly and chatty, classic rock playing over the radio. Very chill and relaxed, set the tone for our visit. The river is mesmerizing and being so close to the swirling clouds, the world is a different place up here. Magic is in the air.

Chimney Rock Gemstone Mine is a charming rock and mineral gift shop featuring a working flume mine where visitors can enjoy the thrill of mining for gems. The friendly staff provides assistance in identifying gemstones, making it an enjoyable experience for the whole family. Visitors have been delighted by their finds, including massive amethysts and other beautiful gems. The stunning views from the gem mine add to the overall experience, making it a must-visit destination with something special for everyone.
My husband and I came to Chimney Rock for the BBQ and Gem mining but due to my breathing health I called ahead and asked if they could put together a gem bucket to go. They said yes and I told them I’d call the day before my arrival. The day of travel I forgot to call them. We arrived in Chimney Rock after dark, so the next day (Thursday Feb 8th) I went into the store asked them if I could get a bucket to go, the lady I spoke with sent me downstairs to the gem mine…OH MY WOW, impressed to say the least. The young guy I talked to was very helpful and very nice. I had $100 to spend so I got the emerald bucket and told him I’d be back in 2hrs since my husband wanted BBQ. After we had the most amazing BBQ, hubby went to the room and I went bag to the gem mine. I was able to look around the store and ended up also purchasing a book and a few personal crystals. He had my bucket ready and carried it to the car. I can’t stress enough how nice he was. I wish I was in better breathing health I would have loved to sit down in the mine with the sifters and chat with him because I had the place to myself. My suggestion is to go off season on a week day and you can probably walk out of there with so much gem information and knowledge. Anyway that’s how this guy made me feel, you could tell he likes where he works, Fast forward to earlier today (Saturday) I sifted through my bucket and all I can say is he put together a fantastic bucket and I feel this bucket was put together with such amazing intentions and not like I was bothering him for even asking for a bucket to go. I wish I could figure out how to post pictures with this review but I don’t have that option so you’ll have to take my word for it. The bucket had a bunch of nice size smaller ones and 3 larger stones that were the size of my fist. One of which was a very unique gem that looks like it has a face in it. I’ve been to a handful of Gem mines from East Coast to Arizona and one of them I’ve visited twice with that being said I read the reviews after I got home from here and found out it’s pet friendly also. OH yes I’ll be back when the weather is better on my breathing with my dogs and my husband. I’ll be sitting at the table sifting through the mega bucket. I can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much for a great experience. Now for the upstairs and the ladies in the gift shop, I know I mentioned this in the beginning of the review but the lady I spoke with was so helpful and very nice. I have alot of nervous anxiety and she told me which crystals I should focus on and then I walked around and looked at everything, Every one in the town that we met were all nice to us. Again I repeat, can’t wait to come back. Edited: found out how to post pictures.

I have such wonderful memories of this place. As a teenager, I grew up 45 minutes away and when I got my first car I loved to drive to chimney rock. I’d always stop here. I got all my silver rings here. Every time I wanted to mark a special occasion, I’d go straight to the Gemstone Mining Company. I still wear my rings every single day. They’ve held up over 17 years with no tarnishing. This is legitimately my favorite jewelry store and I’m so sad that the hurricane hit chimney rock the way it did. I hope one day to be able to come back and pick out my wedding and engagement rings here.

Fabulous fun family place!! All employees were super nice, the owners are such wonderful, sweet folk! I liked how they had the shop upstairs with such uquie quality items and the mine is downstairs, outdoors being shaded is a huge plus but also hearing the river and feeling the breeze! Also visit the Riverwatch Bar a couple blocks down, huge variety of types of burgers and sides plus the alcohol is made perfectly!!

Had a really great experience here. You get a lot for the money and the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. My favorite part about this place is that they are dog friendly! Definitely will be back when it’s a little warmer!

My boyfriend and I looked through the store, and were slightly interested in doing the gem mining. One of the ladies informed us of a coupon that they have, where it’s $5 off of a $30 bucket or more. So we got the Family bucket. We headed downstairs to the gem mining area, and the person that rung us up was super friendly. The experience itself was really interesting. We got some pretty neat stuff. They have signs all over the place with examples of rocks you could get, and they also give you a nice card with pictures as well. All in all, we had a really nice experience, and the people that were working were very nice and said we got some good stuff.

Wonderful little gem mining attraction for the kiddos. Very rustic and fun looking, and the people working here were very friendly and accommodating. Had a great time!
Steve G — Google review
We just stopped in here today and did a little gem mining. They have some reasonable prices for all kinds of bucket sizes. The little kids and big kids alike all had fun stopping in and doing some gem mining. The upstairs houses the gift and souvenir shop and downstairs outside is where they have things set up for doing the gem mining with the water troughs. The lady downstairs was very friendly and helpful getting us set up and also helped crack open a geo stone for one of our kids. The lady upstairs in the gift shop was nice as well. They have a large selection of stoneware jewelry and other items. If you’re in Chimney Rock and looking for gem mining then this is your place.

Our second visit and once again this wonderful place didn't disappoint! We spent well over an hour digging through our buckets and enjoying our chat with the brilliant Steve of course! We drove all the way from Virginia Beach to visit, and will likely do so again! Great place and worth the money! 5 stars! I would give 100 stars if I could!!!!

Quaint little diner like Cafe. We stopped here after shopping and hiking. We all enjoyed our meals. The chicken and rice soup was perfect on the cool day. You order at the counter and pay, and when your food is ready, they'll bring it right to you. We sat inside. However, it's right on the river with lots of outdoor seating too! Bonus points, they have gluten-free buns!

Cool mom and pops burger joint, done up like the classics. There is one exception, the beautiful views of the river and the mountains. There is a deck out back and picnic table areas by the river. When you put good food and great views together, you always have a winner. It's not fancy, but it's not too pricey either, just good food. I would recommend giving this location a try. Oh, and if they happen to have the ham and swiss on special that day, give it a try. If it's like the one I got, it will be delicious.

The perfect spot to Fuel your hike, or enjoy a treat after your adventure. A classic dinner style restaurant with a variety of solid options for everyone to enjoy. I got the Southwestern Wrap with chips and was very satisfied. Prices are fair and service is very friendly. Additionally, there is much local exploring near the lake and rocks for you to enjoy with a family or group.

This is a rustic place in a tourist trap town. Don't expect a lot. We really like it. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is on a covered deck or in trees near a beautiful mountain stream. We had their hamburger. Large, quality beef, and broiled - not fried. NOT greasy. All the usual toppings. Good choices for sides. A great burger. They have lots of other items, but get the burger. There's a Hershey's ice cream shop next door with 61 flavors.

This place hav pretty basic menu: sandwiches and salads basically. Well the food is good, the restaurant is clean including the restroom and employees r nice. This is pretty good place to eat after hiking if you hav the anual membership to Chimney Rock you hav a discount too. But I still missing the best wings I ever tasted and the pizza .

Good place to go! We got there after they opened. The stuff was very friendly & helpful with selections. As you can see from the pics, the views are great with lots of room to spread out. We got the hummus as a starter & was impressed. Well blended with red pepper, it led off a good meal. I had the build your burger with chips. The burger was yummy but the chips didnt excite me by themselves. The Man got chicken wraps & liked them ok..it wasn't the food's issue, just his palate today. If you are out in Chimney Rock, its a good plate to cop a squat & whoosa by a rushing brook...

This place is utterly amazing. My family & I went here a couple of days ago to grab a late lunch/early dinner after a nice hike from the falls. The workers here were phenomenal, our server was David & he was super sweet & very outgoing. As a family of 11 people, oftentimes our orders are messed up or something is missing. But at this place David was super patient with taking everyones' orders, he even checked up on us several times to make sure everyone was good. The food is delicious, from the fried pickles to the apple brown betty, we were all so blessed & happy with our food. There is also a river that runs by the cafe in the back, so this place not only has a great view but is a nice spot to relax & kick back. My family, whenever we are up here for vacation, we always make sure that stop by to eat here. It is so worth the drive. This place is amazing.

We ordered a build your own hamburger and a Bacon Swiss Hamburger. Both were very good. They were large, and there was no skimping on the bacon, sauteed onions or lettuce! Condiments were available on a table in the dining room and on the covered deck. Soft drinks and tea are self-serve in the dining area. We opted for French fries rather than chips. The fries could have cooked another minute. There are four eating areas: inside, a covered deck, an uncovered deck, and a grassy area near the river. There are plenty of tables, including picnic tables with umbrellas, all well-spaced apart. Everything was exceptionally clean.

Beautiful beach area. They have water slides and an amazing splash pad, roped off swimming area. You can rent kayaks, boats, paddle boards and canoes pretty reasonably.$10 per adult to get in. They have a tiny store and food truck on site, but you can pack a picnic. Folks are really friendly and nice.

Remarkable efforts have been made after Hurricane Helene devastated the area. Come by and visit there is still so much to see and do

It’s a beautiful place. I would not pay again to go to the lake unless we stay there from open till closing. Family of five with one 4 year old and we paid 44$ (thought it was cheaper based on comments, guess not) kids enjoyed it. Went on a Sunday, glad we did since Monday and Tuesday (the days we stayed there) seemed like they closed.

It was an awesome experience for my family and I. We live 2 hours away and got up early arrived right when it opened. My son who is 3 loved swimming in the lake and playing in splash pad. We also went canoeing you have to pay additional money but its worth it for $20 for an hour. There is a picnic area to eat and stay shaded from the hot sun. I loved there were water slides for big kids and water ballon area. After the beach there are shops that surround the area that you can grab a bite to eat and grab souvenirs. Overall was very happy with our experience and definitely will be coming back!

View of the Lake Lure Beach. The beach is now a pasture full of weeds. No time line is available for reclaiming the area lake access. The marina, not pictured, to the left of the pictures is still heavily damaged. The lake remains at the lowest point in its history at about 963 Mean Sea Level. It is also a federal work site; so, only authorized personnel are allowed in the lake bed area.

This place i really thought was just so cute, and just awesome for kiddos! The beach was a decent size. They have water slides for ages 4+, and a splash pad by the beach also. Disappointed they close really early, at like 6 for the beach and 5:30 for the slides and splash pad. My 1 year old loved the splash pad. Our other kids enjoyed the slides and beach area. I think the staff could maybe be a bit more friendlier at times. They have a Japanese restaurant right beside it which was really yummy! Good sushi there.

This was my first time and I’m glad I got to experience it with all of the local activities and attractions to go with. It is a lake made into a sand bar that makes it have a beach appeal. A lot of family friendly locations all around a 25 min commute. Check out the parks and trails nearby and the waterfall are magical. Will be going back soon.

Embark on a Lake Lure Tour for a unique perspective of the ever-changing landscape of the lake. Cruising on a pontoon, you'll be treated to insights about the area and its surroundings. The tour offers an unhurried exploration of the large lake, showcasing not only its natural beauty but also the impressive homes lining its shores.
I seriously can not say enough about these wonderful people. Had an amazing time they were so sweet to my daughter! Savanah says hi! Our guide was hilarious and knowledgeable, sarcastic, which wasngreatly appreciated and made the trip 100% better. I am horrible with names.. so thank you to the sweet young lady who was so kind to my daughter. Thank you to the cashier, and is so nice. Thank you so much to our guide. You were the best kept me laughing! And it's so nice to meet one of Lake Lures' finest officers, nice before trip experience. Can't wait to come back. This is top-notch, especially in the fall. The most beautiful lake in NC hands down! Customer for life. Thank you for letting me take pics!

Beautiful scenery!!! Nice boat tour… (I was hoping for more info and the lake and less about real estate. I wasn’t interested in a lake house tour…) Guide was nice and handled the boat well. Price for a 1 hour boat ride was fair.
Justin W — Google review
Was taking the scenic route up north on my way to a project and made an impulse decision to take a boat tour here. Glad I did. The office staff was first rate and scheduled my tour. A fleet of pontoon boats are used and all looked to be in excellent condition. The tours are about an hour and passengers will see everything from pristine forests, modest lake homes and even a few multimillion dollar mansions. The boat’s captain was a fountain of interesting information and fun trivia about Lake Lure. The tour is good enough to detour from your planned itinerary.
Norman B — Google review
I had SO much fun & learned SO much about the lake and it's history. Mike was an awesome tour guide & captain! This was my second time, I wanted my family to experience it. They thoroughly enjoyed it! I can't wait to go to Lake Lure again, it's beautiful there!
Darlene C — Google review
This lake is absolutely gorgeous, our boat guide was great as well. The tour was supposed to be an hour but it started raining so we went in about 20 minutes early which was kind of disappointing. I understand the reason why but other tour boats seem to be going out as we were coming in. The lack of online reservations is quite frustrating. A first come first serve type of deal is really hard to plan someone's day. I would 100% suggest trying to change your policies or the way you work with selling tickets for your tour. Other than that this was pretty great and relaxing
Jane — Google review
We were a group of 6 friends who went to lake lure for the boat ride. It was awesome!! Our tour guide was John and he is the absolute best!! He's friendly, knowledgeable, and makes the entire trip enjoyable. I only wish we had gotten our picture made with him, it was that memorable. The leaves were just starting to change and I can imagine just how majestic the lake would look when all the fall colors were out.
Sherri L — Google review
We had a great time. Beautiful scenery. Tour guide was entertaining. He lets the boys drive the boat and they loved it. I’d definitely do it again. Worth the small fee.
CATHRINE M — Google review
We had a very informative guide, who had lots of little observations that I loved. The tour boat took its time, not in a rush to get us back to the dock, so we did a complete circle of this very large lake. After you absorb the beauty of the lake itself, The main point of interest visually are the homes along its shores! I mean seriously, where do the owners work to make such money and where do they come from 😆?! Actually, our guide said that a very high percentage of the homes were rentals through internet apps. Bet THAT’S a pricey weeks’s vaca! Bottom line? I’d go out of my way for this experience!

It has a Country store feel, and is loaded with items. There is everything from BBQ sauce to clothing. It does have two sides, one has the ol' time store, while the other is a more modern store. The folks we talked to during our visit were very nice and helpful. The store also was a surprise, that it sells some name brand items, from shoes to shirts and more. I would recommend giving this location a bit of time to go shopping in, it's not a junk store. It's nice, and will probably have something for almost everyone.

So happy to see this store back open! We went in here yesterday for the first time since the storm and everyone was so grateful and happy to be back open! We always visit here when we are in the area. I highly recommended stopping by and supporting them! Great selection of clothes and outdoor equipment.

A nice little general store in the heart of the Chimney Rock Village. A bit pricey, $30 Chimney Rock T-shirts, but there are plenty affordable souvenirs and a great selection of winter clothing, again a bit pricey. The high point, of course, was getting to see and pet the beautiful mascot Bubba!!! Definitely stop here, my perception of pricey may not be the same as yours.

We ate here several years ago and had a great experience so when I saw they were reopening after the devastating flood I knew we had to come support them. Well, once again it did not disappoint. The food and service were awesome as always. I recommend the cheeseburger melt and fried pickles. The sweet potato fries and potato salad were awesome also. We went on Saturday at Noon so it was pretty busy. We were offered a table but opted to sit at the bar instead. Great choice because the bartender was phenomenal. Best burger in NC. Riverwatch Grill has made a grand reappearance after the destruction from Hurricane Helene last year and their resilience in sharing their comeback on their website clearly shows strength and fortitude. The deck is stunning, new furniture sturdy and comfortable, the burger and onion rings are superb and the servers are so positive and enthusiastic. Fantastic food, great atmosphere and upbeat servers make this restaurant truly outstanding. Eating riverside just makes everything even better. Thank you for a truly great dining experience!

We were so happy to be back in Chimney Rock today for a very delicious lunch and drinks. Beautiful day. Had the sweet chili with the chicken breast and my husband had the hottie burger. What an evening and dinner to remember! Everything my husband and I ordered was fresh and absolutely delicious! We tried their fried pickles, their Spicy Buffalo Salad, the Po' Boy Shrimp Sandwich, and their sweet potato fries - all of which we would highly recommend. They also know how to make GOOD sweet tea! 👏🏻 Our waiter, Patrick, was incredibly kind and truly made our experience wonderful. He whipped up a virgin Mint Mojito for me to try, and it was AMAZING! If my husband and I lived locally, we would very quickly become regulars here. We will most definitely be making this an annual summer trip must-visit!

Me and my family stopped by almost a year to the date of Hurricane Helene. It was my Wife's 44th Birthday. We wanted to give some business to the area that had been hit so hard a year earlier. I got the Grilled Portobello Chicken sandwich & I really had a hard time finding the Chicken. It was mostly just Portobello Mushrooms. (see picture) I had to pull off both ends of the Sub roll to find any Chicken. Also, the Onion Rings were real soggy+ floppy & weren't crisp at all. I don't regret the lunch but I certainly wouldn't do it again.

So happy that this restaurant has come back strong from Hurricane Helene. Extensive burger menu and several other handheld options. Great bar options & Coke products. We went here for old timey photos with my 2 dogs on my 30th birthday in 2018. They were so kind to us and patient with my very nervous pups. After total loss last year, these wonderful people are here with beautiful flowers and knick snacks for the yard and home. I brought home a beautiful white flattering Mexican sage, 5 pansies ( haven't been able to find anywhere else!), and a solar hot air balloon hanging ornament. The service was wondrous add i needed to leave the large flower until I had finished my walk up into the village and back again, he held my flower for me. Made sure the ornament was all wrapped with bubble wrap.

Chimney Rock State Park is a stunning destination in North Carolina, offering a range of trails for both beginners and advanced hikers. Visitors can take an exhilarating ride on the 26-story elevator to reach the top of Chimney Rock, where they can enjoy breathtaking views and explore the gift store. The park also features the waterfall trail, providing an opportunity to take in amazing scenery.
The view is breathtaking! I decided to go to Chimney Rock Park during summer . I had the best experience. The park was in a good condition itself , clean, great staff. Weather was a bit hot though and sunny . Also, there were a lot of people. Summer usually is a busy season. However, I managed to climb up , there’s an elevator if you don’t wish to climb the stairs. Worth mentioning, the stairs are pretty decent. So it took quite a while to get up to the rock. Going down was way more easier. I definitely recommend this place for visiting possibly fall season is the best time to go since trees change colors, there’s less people plus weather is much nicer .
Daria H — Google review
Beautiful park with great views! We opted to park at the bottom and hike up. Significant elevation gain but lots to see along the way. Saw a bear on our way into the park and some deer as well. Very foggy, misty day but still got to enjoy the park and all of its trees, plants and mushrooms. I proposed to my fiance at the end of the hike by the waterfall and she said yes! I hope you enjoy the park as much as we did!
Daniel H — Google review
Definitely worth more than one visit to Chimney Rock State Park. During this season(end of Oct.), we are able to drive cars to the parking lot under Chimney Rock, which easier for climbing up to Chimney Rock and Devil Head to enjoy the breathtaking view. Taking a skyline trail to the start of Hickory nut Fall seems a more challenging and attractive activity which we didn’t do due to time. When going down, a short trail to the bottom of fall is relaxing and fun, but the water flow is small at this season. Would like to stay longer at the terrace next time, and if in summer, probably spend days in nearby Lake Lure would be a perfect stay-away.

La Strada At Lake Lure is a family-owned Italian restaurant that has been serving delicious Italian dishes for over 40 years. The restaurant offers a fantastic view of Lake Lure and the surrounding mountains from its elevated and covered patio. Guests can enjoy a variety of dishes, including pizzas, red-sauce Italian fare, American eats, and seafood.
We were visiting Lake Lure to see all of the damage and we decided to give La Strada a try. Let me say right now, it was awesome. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside on the front veranda. The Mountain View’s were incredible. I’ll be so glad when the lake finally returns. The restaurant sits directly in front of the Lake Lure beach area. Our service was outstanding. I started with a fantastic margarita and my wife loved her Long Island Ice Tea. We order the 12” Meat Trio Pizza and honestly it was one of the best meat pizzas I’ve ever had. We ordered with regular crust and I intend to go back for more. Plenty of seating inside and out. Do yourself a favor and visit. The local businesses need all the support they can get as the area rebuilds after the devastating floods.

La Strada at Lake Lure is a fantastic spot for a casual yet scenic dining experience. The food was very good—especially the chicken parm sandwich, which was hot, flavorful, and satisfying. The service was friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The restaurant itself is clean and well-kept, with a relaxed, comfortable vibe. But the real standout is the view—absolutely stunning! The outdoor seating offers an unbeatable look at the lake and mountains, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal. Whether you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner, La Strada combines great food, service, and atmosphere into one memorable visit. Heather was a great waitress!

Service was great! Views were amazing even though that the beach was no longer there. You can see the chimney rock formation from the patio or many tables inside. I had a trout sandwich and my friend had a Alfredo pasta. Drinks were cold and refreshing.

We had a great experience at La Strada at Lake Lure and would definitely return. The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean and quiet, and our meals came out hot and fairly quickly. Food Highlights: • The garlic knots and white pizza are must-tries – both were flavorful and fresh. • The kids’ Alfredo portion was surprisingly large, and my daughter devoured it, which speaks to how tasty it was. Note on Photos: We forgot to take pictures at the beginning of the meal, so the photos of the pizza slices and Alfredo dish only show what was left over. Also worth mentioning – the pizza is sold by the pan, not by the slice. Atmosphere & Location: La Strada sits beautifully on a hill, offering scenic views and plenty of outdoor seating. There’s ample parking available, though some spots require navigating stairs, which could be a challenge for those with mobility issues—especially during peak hours. One downside: although there’s lots of outdoor seating, we were told they couldn’t rearrange tables to accommodate our group of 8. Outdoor tables are fixed in groups of 4, which may be inconvenient for larger parties. Service & Gratuity Policy: Service during our visit was excellent, and the staff was friendly and attentive. However, be aware of their automatic gratuity policy: • 18% for parties of 6–7 • 20% for parties of 8+ While we always support tipping fairly, automatically increasing the gratuity based solely on party size feels excessive—especially if the level of service doesn’t scale accordingly. Thankfully, in our case, the service matched the 20% gratuity. But during a busier time, that might not have felt justified. Other Notes: The restaurant does not allow more than 5 toppings on a pizza, claiming it gets too messy. While not a major issue, it’s something to be aware of if you like to customize heavily. Overall: Great food, good service, and a beautiful setting. There are a few quirks and policies that may be frustrating to some, but we enjoyed our experience and would definitely go back.

So I’ve eaten here quite a few times since I am a local. This is my first review and I got something here that I haven’t tried before. I sat at the bar and Mary was awesome! fantastic atmosphere and the food was wonderful.

We stopped in after a day hiking and walking around Chimney Rock park and town. Wha a wonderful day we had with the locals and business owners digging out of this tragedy. Our experience at La Strada was awesome, we had several appetizers, some seafood and a 16" pizza. Our server was great not only friendly but checking on us the entire time. If you want to save a little money take cash as to giver processing fees but totally give these guys a try, it was excellent.

We wanted something to eat after hiking at Chimney Rock state park. I got their special, which was mussels, shrimp, and mushrooms in a pesto sauce over penne. It was a lot and although I did not finish it, I enjoyed it!

This was my first time eating here. My wife recommended it to me, and it was so WORTH it! The service was great, atmosphere was great and the food was excellent! We got the pulled pork egg rolls and the fried green tomatoes for starters. Each were so so good. The fish and chips are really good! Everything came out hot and fresh. The fries are crispy and tasty, the fish is so tender it just falls apart. We had to use our fork to eat it. The bread pudding is a MUST try. SO GOOD! Everything from beginning to end was great! So glad this place was recommended to me. I will definitely be coming back frequently. Their wine is also really great!

No matter the season, they never fail to amaze and consistently deliver! The food is so good you’ll want to order one of everything on the menu. Their tastings are delivered exquisitely and informatively. The atmosphere inside is exciting, with lots of wines to purchase and wine-themed gifts available. The patio views outside are the best in Chimney Rock. The entire team all work tirelessly to execute a dining experience you’ll want to revisit over and over; from the first-class kitchen staff to the delightful and hard-working servers and tasters. This restaurant will be your favorite in Chimney Rock, and the delicious wine you’ll look forward to enjoying both at home and gifting to family and friends. Do not miss a visit to Burntshirt Tasting Room!

We had a great afternoon here a few months ago while visiting the area for a girls weekend. We enjoyed every dish we tried and the wine flights were a great way to try lots of wines. We enjoyed the wine slushies so much we got a bottle of wine and some of the mix and made more at our cabin the next day. The live music was an added bonus and the patio on a sunny Sunday was delightful!

Very beautiful location! I would recommend sitting outside if you can get a table. The view is amazing! The menu Is limited, but the portions are large and the food is good. I didn't have the wine, but there is a lot to choose from and you can get a flight and try four different wines. There are no kids meals listed on the menu, but I overheard a server telling a table that they do have kids meals available. They had live music when we were there and it was a nice vibe.

We are eagerly awaiting the reopening - the food and wine are so good, the view and atmosphere is unmatched, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. We've come just as a couple and as a larger family group and have loved it every time. Wishing good hurricane recovery to the whole Bat Cave / Chimney Rock area - we miss it and cannot wait to return!

This is a dog friendly place, with an excellent service and good food. We were sitting on the terrace for lunch and even a black bear made an appearance near by. Our absolute favorites were the brisket spring rolls and the roasted Brussels sprouts!

Sitting outside is paradise! Great wine and DELICIOUS fresh food perfect for any day (the chicken salad is amazing and the cheese plate is huge and perfect for sharing!). Warm when the sun is out and cool and moody when it’s raining with awesome views of Chimney Rock all the time. Check it out when there is live music on the patio! We love when Rumor Mill is playing!

Food was absolutely delicious! The Spicy Lamb Ribs were by far my favorite and it wasn't even my order. Food has the right amount of seasoning for every dish we ordered. Highly recommend to stop at this location whether to just eat or after visiting the Chimney Rick State Park. Gorgeous views from the outside dining area, very calming atmosphere. Our server was very sweet and helpful choosing items off the menu. Definitely coming back again!

One word beautiful. This park is situated perfectly between multiple mountain peaks with views of the Lake Lure Inn, Chimney Rock and the stunning rock faces of the the Lake Lure Valley. We lucky enough to visit during the time right as the sun slipped behind the mountains. Nicely maintained and great greenery, gardens and shrubs. While we were visiting there was a light breeze about 75 degrees was just an all around nice place to be right in the heart of Lake Lure.

I just love Morse Gardens! The walking trail is both paved and gravel and skirts the perimeter of the lake near the marina. It is immaculately kept, always clean, and offers great views of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and more. I lucky enough to live locally and bring clients here often for sessions. It's just lovely all year round.

The town has spent a lot of time and care over the past few years adding landscaping, clearing, paving sidewalks and other nice touches to improve the park. It's just beautiful there and so peaceful. Great place for a stroll along the lake, a picnic, or to drop a line in the water. Lots of benches to sit and enjoy the birds, the lake and even It's well known turtles.

My husband an I were on our honeymoon. We both love to fish and fishing at Lake lure is free. Just remember a N.C. fishing liscense is required. As for the fishing we did not have much luck. Between us only one little fish was caught and we may have had a total of 5 bites. But it was very windy which effect our fishing. The nightcrawlers that are sold at the store on Lake Lure are worth the price at least the size of them are. We did not take the boat ride. It was more than we wanted to pay. At 18 dollars a person it did not feel worth it to us. We had watched the boat go in and out several times. Just guessing it lasted maybe 15 mints. at the most. The walk around the lake is pretty and peaceful. I would recommend going either early morning or late evening. Due to the fact there is Not a lot of shade. Some of the paths are covered in dirt while others are covered in gravel so a wheelchair or walker will not be easy to push on it.. The benches are a little bit apart so if walking distances is a issue rethink walking it. Go around to the bridge instead and look from there. There are bathroom at where you get on the boat at but they are very small. Anyone in a wheelchair or or with someone in one or on a walker should find some where else to go. (I tell you this because my parents use both) The beach area was closed but we where there on a Friday. It looked like it might be nice. But can not tell you for sure. I would recommend that you wear water shoes. While fishing we could see objects in the water that could cut your feet. There is a Wal-Mart in Hendersonville which is close and a pretty ride. It would be worth the ride instead of paying the prices of things at Chimney Rock or Lake Lure. And if you do not have a fishing license you can get it there. Better that than a fine if you get caught fishing with out one. I hope this helps you all to have a great trip!!

The Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival is an annual event that takes place in mid-October, attracting numerous visitors to the lake town. With over a hundred vendors offering upscale handmade arts and crafts, including books by local authors about the area, this well-organized event provides a delightful experience for attendees. Additionally, the festival benefits the local community by supporting a nearby school.
Art festival was amazing! Three artists gave my daughter some free samples of their artwork and we could swim at the lake across the street. Live music and dancing! Had an amazing time!

Promoter does not care about SAFETY of Patrons or Vendors! This is what happens when the (Promoter??) does NOT REQUIRE WEIGHTS ON TENTS and a wind gust comes through! Looks like MOST vendors lost almost everything they had. NO you can not prevent all tent "Blow overs" but you can reduce damage and INJURIES from them! At the bare minimum there should be either (4) FOUR (1) one gallon jugs filled with wet sand or (3) THREE 8X8X16 concrete blocks (35 LBS EACH) ON EACH CORNER OF THE TENT or ON CENTER POLES on sides. In addition it would not hurt to have a 5 gallon bucket filled with concrete attached to each corner or center pole! How many people would have been injured or killed if this had been open?
Jim F — Google review
Very nice selection of vendors and music that complimented the event. Only issue was lack of internet/phone service which many vendors could not use their point of sale devices for credit card purchases. Advice to attendees, bring lots of cash or be prepared to use the ATM located within the venue.
Kathy K — Google review
There are at least a hundred vendors selling all kinds of arts and crafts. Most of the Arts and Crafts are Handmade by the locals and they are very upscale. One of the things I especially like all the authors that are selling their books. Most of the books are about the area and although they are nonfiction they have a lot of real places and areas that you will recognize. . The festival is well-organized and I'm sure you will enjoy it

The other day my husband and I went in. There was a younger woman at the desk and there was an older lady trying to ask her some questions. The woman behind the desk was on her laptop and did not look up at this lady one time. She was incredibly rude answering her questions. We could here it in her voice. She almost seemed annoyed. She didn't give her full attention to this poor woman just wanting to find out some info about the lake. It really made me mad because the whole point is to be there to help tourists. I went in again with my son about 20mins later so he could use the restroom and again, she did not even look up or acknowledge us walking in. If I were in charge of hiring/firing, she would no longer be there. We go to Chimney Rock at least three times a month and everyone else there has always been so friendly and kind. The restrooms are always clean! But that just left a really bitter taste in my mouth.

You patronize this flea town usa as a good part of are community. On 1 occasion I witnessed an individual opening medicine and replacing with other products and yet another time seen a teenager slouched on the restroom floor drinking cough medicine acquired from this store..this is a health crisis on steroids. Not to mention literally hundreds of drugs in bins 4feet off the ground open to anyone who can reach that high .the owner said they were having numerous problems here to include the drugs being tampered with or used at the store or outright stolen by the cart full and sold in the nearby community..wow welcome too n.Carolina

I had a fantastic time at the charming mini golf course Chimney Rock Adventure Golf! The location was absolutely stunning, situated by the water, creating a serene and enjoyable atmosphere. They offer refreshing beverages for purchase during your game, including delectable canned wine. I also had the pleasure of conversing with one of the owners, who was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend this place! It has become a beloved tradition for my family whenever we visit Chimney Rock.
This place is lightyears above your average putt-putt spot and the people who run it are nothing short of amazing. The setting is absolutely beautiful. I'm from out of town and recently Planned an event for 34 members of our Cub Scout Pack. Chimney Rock Adventure Golf was our first stop. The owner Nick was friendly, helpful, and super accommodating. He made sure we had plenty of space and informed me they also serve food. We were all able to eat together while we waited out a summer storm and it was a pleasant surprise. It could not have worked out better for us. I could have spent an hour just walking around this place admiring the landscaping and the setting. I doubt there's a more lush, visually appealing mini golf in the entire state. Great stop, great owners, great food. Can't wait to return on our next family vacation!

For $12 each I guess I expected it to be bigger but it was nice being by the river. It’s a basic little course. It wasn’t challenging but more aggravating because the ball gets stuck in side rocks. Some of the holes are mushroomed so it’s tough to get in the hole. Also the bricks behind the holes are leveled for walking so the ball will go into another course. Middle of the summer but the water features were all drained. We finished it in like 25 minutes. Honestly it’s the worst mini golf we’ve ever been to and we love these.

First time here, it was a phenomenal experience! Excellent mini golf holes. Challenging and fun. Beautiful Broad River flowing alongside the course. The pizza is fantastically amazing! I must say, the topping on the cake was the shot's of Blanton's for $14 a shot! That's a fantastic price! The cocktails were truly "crafted" and well worth the money! The staff on this blustery Sunday afternoon was outstanding! Well worth the trip from South Carolina! Will definitely be looking to book a room at The Broad River Inn for my birthday in February. Bartender was extremely friendly! Stopped for a few drinks and didn’t intend on eating here but a storm started so we stayed to eat as well. The fried pickles were super crispy and the ranch that was served with them was amazing (coming from a ranch connoisseur) The Brisket Melt was also delicious, brisket was super tender and I liked the mustard base bbq sauce. I think they could’ve used a better quality bread for the melt and I wish instead of frozen crinkle fries they had fresh cut or a better quality fry but that’s just me being picky for the sake of a review. Overall would definitely visit again and I’m so happy to see Chimney Rock slowly but surely making a comeback!

Recently reopened since Hurricane Helene flooding demolished most of the Chimney Rock business district, the Smokehouse continues to serve very good barbecue dishes. They were highly recommended for their food and did not disappoint. We ordered their signature pulled pork. My wife asked for the sandwich served with pickles. We left filled and satisfied. Great place!

Beautiful place! Amazing Hikes. Even has an elevator to the stairs of the chimney, which is great for mobility challenged people to still be able to enjoy the beauty! I go here several times a year! Chimney Rock also hosts an incredible sunrise service every year. You must experience this and it's free! Sign up for Chimney Rock's newsletter so you will know when parking passes are available. There are a limited number, so be sure to be on the lookout to reserve yours.

I personally loved the place. Pay the ticket at the entrance and either drive 2 miles to the parking lot or choose Four Seasons hiking route. From the parking lot you have two options. Either take the stairs and enjoy great views or ride an elevator to reach the top. Great experience!! Don’t forget to visit when you are in Carolinas; fall season should give and extra ordinary view!

I absolutely loved this place. We only made it as far up as the flag. It has a lot of stairs to climb up to it and I am overweight, have knee and back issues and with a few breathing stops was able to make it up and then downstairs to the parking lot.

It was a great day spent with my husband and 3 of our kids that still live at home . Boys 8 and 12 and a girl 18 and all of us had fun. We walked the river looked through pretty rocks boys swam in the river I couldn't handle it, already to cold. Lol Went through gift shops and just spent time together. I absolutely love family time that doesn't involve spending tons it money or some huge event. I love the simple things in life!!

Great hike to chimney rock. Continuing on to the skyline trail wasn't worth it. I'd recommend stopping at Exclamation Point. The hike down to waterfall bottom was definitely worth it!

Campground
Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground, owned by the Phillips family since 1970, offers a cozy retreat with RV sites, tent sites, and log cabins. Nestled in the Chimney Rock forest along the Broad River, it provides stunning mountain and river views. Despite its small size, the campground's friendly staff and fellow campers create a welcoming atmosphere.
This is my favorite spot to camp in NC. The ppl are very friendly and make you feel like you belong there. The bathrooms/showers are clean and really nice. I can't say enough good things about this place. I go there to reconnect with nature and sometimes just to clear my head when everyday life becomes draining. It is just one of those places that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand the nature and beauty of this sacred land. For me it is like how most ppl describe how church makes them feel. If you feel like you need to reenergize or your in a funk that you just can't seem to come out of, then this is the place you need to visit. These are pictures from June 2024 @ campsite #77. It is a down to earth place.

Wow! All the years my family has camped one thing has been consistently true - camping people are really nice -UNTIL TODAY AT HICKORY NUT CAMPGROUND. The owners and their daughter were some of the most hostile, unpleasant people my wife and I have ever come across. Rather than trying to help us with a logistical problem, they attacked us and were super aggressive. As a result, we refused to waste another minute in their run down little campground. Spare yourself the drama- life is too short to have to put up with hostile, angry owners who don’t care about their customers!

I honestly don’t know where to start. Wife booked us a nice camping getaway to do some hiking and relaxing. Please and i say please drive through this campground before booking!! Totally miss leading!! Online pictures are awesome but wait till you see what the camera doesn’t show you. Its a run down trashy trailer park. Junk everywhere with old wooden porches. . I will say owner or front desk lady did give us a full refund. But they are much nicer cheaper places to stay.

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile so apologies to the owners. This campground is fantastic and the owners are great. The camp is nestled between Broad River and the mountains which makes for beautiful scenery, especially for those of us used to less inclined terrain. The entire area is clean and well kept and the selection of sites will suit a variety of camping styles. The location enables an affordable bed down location for families looking to enjoy the Appalachians without breaking the budget. Fully recommend for anyone looking to enjoy nature, camp, or vacation on a budget.

Located just past the hubbub of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, Hickory Nuts Falls is a great spot to call home for a weekend. We went in early November, so most of the Fall colors had made their appearance. This is a pretty small family-owned campground with pretty tightly packed spaces, but we never felt cramped because we got the back spot (the bear spot according to the owner). The road circling around to the backside spots is a little sketchy in spots, so if you've got a low car just...drive carefully. This place has got the feel of like...a time share for sheds. The covered camping platform was nice even if it was rickety and bared-wired. Great to have electricity for a few essentials, but you can still ignore all that and have a more primitive experience (and still have your tent covered from the worst of it). Just make sure you've got a good pad. If you're going full electric, bring a few cords and power strips so you can take advantage. They've got bathrooms, showers, and firewood on-site, so you'll be comfortable here for a whole weekend (or more). Staff (owner) was great, said they lived just down the road and could get in touch with them if we needed. I'll take a look next time I'm in the area - great value and experience just off the main drag.

As we end our 5 months as first time snowbirds I sit here looking at all this beauty and wonder if this is the best campground we’ve experienced so far. As Chimney Rock loses it’s Southern Charm and becomes $20 burgers, craft beer and made in China trinkets, you can step back in time at this rustic treasure. If your expectations are paved roads and luxurious amenities there are resorts nearby that are more suitable. For someone who’s traveled to this town with 5 generations over the last 50+ years I will say this campground is quite a magical experience.
Dean H — Google review
Full hookups + cable TV on the River. Definitely not a resort style campground, but to me that’s the best part about it. I’m not a fan of resort camping. All the staff we interacted with were very nice and helpful Nice views from the riverfront campsites. RV sites were a bit close, not KOA close, but close. The bathhouses were clean, but could stand a renovation. We never saw any bears, that they said was a possibility. Close proximity to the village of Chimney Rock. We enjoyed it, though, and will definitely plan a return trip in the future. Possibly next year.
Clif D — Google review
My husband and I just returned (last night) from a stay at one of the tent sites. If I could give this campground more than 5 stars, then I would. The sound of the river is incredibly peaceful and the riverfront sites are literally right on the river. We had no worries about safety - its a great family friendly campground. We already called this morning to see about booking a site in the spring and summer. We are going to be "regulars" for sure. Thanks again for a perfect getaway. :) The Hatfields, Manning, SC

Park
Dittmer-Watts Nature Trail Park is a charming forested park with 3.3 miles of scenic nature trails, making it a popular choice for families and dog owners alike. The park offers picturesque views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for leisurely strolls or picnics at the nearby picnic tables. Visitors can also enjoy off-leash walks with their dogs in designated areas.
Love this park! Nice easy stroll that the whole family can enjoy, absolutely gorgeous view with a bench. Very peaceful, would be a lovely spot to watch the sunrise/sunset. There are picnic tables pretty close off the trail where it makes it easy to bring a lunch over from Ingles or Starbucks across the street. Signs up front say that dogs are allowed to be off leash if they are kept under control. It isn’t a busy park, I’ve rarely seen any more than 3 to 4 cars parked in the lot. It also connects with the Lake Lure Green Space which is nice & open. Great place to spend time outdoors!
Danielle S — Google review
My wife and I wanted to stretch our legs and go further into Western North Carolina than we live to do so. We decided to drive to the Lake Lure area, which is about an hour west of our home in Mountain View, NC. My wife located this place on a Google search. We arrived at a rather unassuming gravel parking lot off of Hwy 9, literally right across from an Ingels Grocery Store. Parking, we saw a sign and trailhead right near the woods. This sign is very detailed a s maps out all the trails with their length and difficulty. Total hike if you do all the trails is a little over 3 miles. There are picnic tables on several of the trails - including one covered picnic area on one trail. BUT all picnic areas are a little bit of a walk from the parking area. So, but be prepared to carry your food in, plus there are no garbage cans, so any trash must be carried back out to your car. The trails go from "easy" to "moderate" in difficulty, and their designation is pretty accurate. The Rollercoaster Trail is probably the most difficult, and its name accurately depicts the terrain of the hike. Scenic wise, these trails don't offer much other than a walk in the woods. Exercise wise, they are a good place to stretch your legs. 👍👍👍
Ron L — Google review
Great park with multiple trails ranging from easy to moderate. Wooded areas, open areas with gorgeous views, and picnic tables dispersed in different areas. We took our dogs, and we all enjoyed it!
Patti K — Google review
Finally found a couple trails that were open, dog friendly, and easy to hike. The trails did leave our shoes and paws covered in red/orange mud that didn’t go well with our light grey seats in the car, but that’s ok!
Casey S — Google review
A few trails, mostly easy to moderate though the Roller Coaster trail has a few up & downhills (hence the name)
Sue G — Google review
The most perfect spot in lake lure for four leaf clovers! There is a little shelter on one of the trails I call terrapin station..( grateful dead)..the area around the shelter is loaded with four leaf clovers...you just have to look for them...😁
Mzhippy Q — Google review
This is a very nice little trail system. It is very well marked in most areas, and I wanted to give it 5 stars. However, there are a few spots where there are offshoots that aren't on the trail map, and it's hard to know which way to go in these spots without clearly marked signs there as well. Perhaps some have blazed new trails, and the trail map and signage will be updated soon. I do appreciate the work that has been done thus far. Most areas are easy to moderate, but a few short areas could be considered hard due to inclines and roots/rocks obstacles. The view at the end of the Mountain Vista trail is nice. Happy trails!
Lewis T — Google review
Very nice network of short, easy hiking trails with a good size gravel parking lot and clear sineage. Very close to Lake Lure, on the Mill Spring side, just across from the Ingles grocery store. Trails are well maintained and have benches along the way. Signs are frequent and clear. There are picnic tables & a picnic shelter. The shelter is small, but could accommodate a large family or group of 20 or so. I did not come across any restrooms, so you might want to take care of those needs before coming. Plenty of native plants & wildlife. Some invasives too, unfortunately. Nice place to stretch your legs.

Featherheads is a charming boutique offering a wide array of local and Native American artwork, gemstones, books, music, and more. Visitors have praised the friendly staff and the extensive selection of items including dreamcatcher necklaces, turquoise rings, and larimar jewelry. The shop is known for its unique and affordable pieces that are durable as well.
I was in that beautiful store last Saturday, I don't know if it was the owner who took care of me; but I was an extremely kind woman, she dedicated time to me to answer my questions and show me the crafts, it is a beautiful place to which I will return very soon❤️

You CAN NOT visit Lake Lure/Chimney Rock without stopping by this eclectic, cool shop! We spend about $600/yr here and today was no different-my bf bought a larimar ring to match the necklace I have💗. The manager/employees are always super friendly and accommodating. The items may be crammed in, but don’t let that fool you, the jewelry pieces we have purchased have been affordable and durable.

I had to stop in again to add to my dreamcatcher necklace collection and they did not disappoint me. Very friendly staff, a gentleman helped me find my new items, necklace and earrings. Hopefully we will be back in town to visit again in the future.

This store is really cool. The lady that worked there was very nice and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back. That was a year ago. I still plan on coming back. There was this beautiful girl who worked there. She was nice, definitely lifted my spirits. Whoever you are miss, I hope you're living your best life.

I have visited twice and this time I was determined to take my time and find a turquoise ring. I’ve worked in retail with jewelry behind cases, customers needing to check out and more customers waiting to try on their treasures. It’s always busy here. Isabel (I hope I spelled it correctly) was the only one working and was patient with me while I tried on many. Thank you I love my choice! See you next time.

Hickory Nut Falls, located in Chimney Rock State Park, is a breathtaking horsetail waterfall that plunges from a height of 404 feet along Fall Creek. The area offers various trails for exploration, including the Exclamation Point and Skyline trails with thrilling vistas. For families, the .6-mile Great Woodland Adventure Trail provides an educational experience with twelve discovery stations and an Animal Discovery Den.
This is a lovely hike! It’s super easy maybe about 1.5 to 2 miles round-trip. Wore my toddler on my back and did it just fine. The waterfall is beautiful and the trail is well maintained and clearly marked. There is a $17 fee (per adult) to get into the state park but once inside you can do any and all of the trails.

Beautiful out and back trail! 1.9 miles, 328 feet of elevation gain, showing off the 400 foot tall falls (one of the tallest in the state!). There’s a fee of $17 per person to enter the park to help maintain and support the park. Very few people today which was lovely!

Very nice waterfall. This is about 1.5 miles an easy trek/hike from base elevator of the chimney rock park. The entry to the chimney rock is $17 per Adults and $8 per kids 5-12 years. Kids below 5 years gets free entry to the chimney rock. I would say it is an amazing place to visit. Your trekking would be worth visiting this.

The hike was definitely worth it once we got the the falls and got close up. There was a heat advisory that day so I considered it medically necessary for us to cool off! Fascinating work of nature!

Dustin W — Google review
Dramatic, beautiful falls, just an easy, pleasant hike from the Chimney Rock parking area—well worth your time. The hike to Hickorynut Falls from the main Chimney Rock State Park parking area starts with your choice of either with a sloping walk down around back down along a roadway path or a stair climb (great stairway structure) from the park’s base area—recommend the stair climb. The walk is a nice 20-minute or so stroll from the bottom of the stairs through a lush forest—the hike is fairly easy on a sloping, sometimes rocky trail. The falls are dramatic, colorful, and picturesque, with multiple viewing areas including an area where the trail meets the falls, a platform just beneath the falls, and a platform to the left of the falls that’s just a short stair climb—be sure to check out the views from all areas for great pictures. There is a gate to the falls trail that we believe closes the falls after dark; at the gate there is also a connection between the falls trail and the Four Seasons Trail which runs from the park’s Great Woodland Adventure kid’s area. The trail was very well maintained and included trash/recycling cans. Overall, I would definitely recommend the hike to Hickorynut Falls if you’re visiting Chimney Rock State Park—highly recommended!

A nice milky thin waterfall. A little to moderate hike to reach this falls. Not very steep if you are going to do only this falls , if you had done chimney rock , exclamation point or top of the falls hike, considerable to do this trail. You can take the trail by parking at the lot on chimney rock information center. A moderate number of uneven rocks near the falls if you are planning to touch the water. No swimming or wading are allowed, but you will be able to touch the water or can drench you. But the deck is built about 20 feet from the falls to have a look and photography. Modestly slippery rock if you are thinking to touch the waterfalls. Trail has lot of shades , resting benches , picnic tables with trash area. No restrooms available on the trail but on the head of the trail when you are taking the wooden steps from parking lot. Drinking water vending machine , water fountain are there in this restroom area. Load up your snack , water or liquid for Hyderating you. Not very hardest trail but easy to moderate for a family , only at some places. Gravel path , Staffs or emergency staffs can reach the falls by ATV if there is anything emergency on waterfall area. Good for anyone and recommend to all.

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park is a stunning state park located on a 315-ft. granite monolith, offering visitors a chance to explore hiking trails, enjoy supervised rock climbing, and witness a beautiful waterfall. The park is surrounded by natural wonders such as Pisgah National Forest and Linville Gorge, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can also rent stand-up paddle boards to explore the regional nature from the water.
Great experience! So many friendly people from all over the world here to enjoy our North Carolina Mountains. You must make reservations but its easy to do online. I recommend taking the elevator up to the top of Chimney rock. This will help so you're not tired so you can enjoy the climb to Opera box and the steep climb to exclamation point. Take the elevator down to parking level then take the stairs to the falls. The hike to the falls is very steep after the stairs going down but the view is gorgeous. Keep in mind returning the down hill is nice but the you have to climb several flights of stairs to return to parking lot. It's can be a full day of hiking. Getting wet at the bottom of the waterfal is the best!!! Bring a towel. Happy travels!

After Chimney Rock was reopened 10 months after Hurricane Ida, we immediately went there and marveled at this unique place. The driveway is not easy to find because the original bridge was destroyed, but you can still drive directly to the rock if you want. The view and the view are all worth the entrance!
Mirko K — Google review
This was my first time going to Chimney Rock State Park. I did my research of their website prior to going because I know they recently reopened to the public after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Everyone must purchase tickets on their website prior to going to the park. Every hour they allow check ins. I was a little confused after reading the website, so I clarified at check in today: once you check in at the gate, you are free to explore the park until they close at 7. They only have the check in times every hour so everyone isn't checking in at once. Please note, you need to check the website for the address to plug into your GPS (if you're not familiar with the area). I believe it is 665 Main Street. There are big signs at the road directing you to the entrance. I explored the Village afterwards. It was difficult to find parking and the Police do surveil the area so that non-local traffic doesn't go past a certain point. I highly recommend checking out this park and area. You won't be disappointed!
Christopher P — Google review
I arrived too late to enter into the park and actually wasn't expected that it would have been open at all, since I was under the impression that rebuilding efforts are still ongoing due to Hurricane Helene inside the park premises. They close at 5:30 PM daily, but remaining visitors inside the park have until 7:00 p.m. to exit the area. I'm assuming the park opens about an hour after sunrise. I was here 3 years ago and it is a very impressive park to visit and experience the beauty of it and its surroundings.
Richard H — Google review
The best state park we've ever traveled to. The staff were all exceptionally kind and friendly, especially the shuttle bus drivers. The park is gorgeous and all of the trails are very well maintained. Highly recommend taking the stairs to the top, the views are worth it!

Breathtaking views from start to finish! I definitely recommend the complete mountain trail — it winds through pine forests, past rocky cliffs, and opens up to sweeping vistas of the peaks. Along the way you’ll find wildflowers, fresh mountain air, and plenty of scenic spots to pause and take it all in.

Chimney Rock Country Fair is an attractive destination with breathtaking views from its mountain top. However, the high cost of admission may deter visitors as there are comparable free alternatives available. The inclusion of activities for younger children by Miss Linda and Miss Rebecca enhances the experience for families, while the vintage rides offer a nostalgic journey through time. Overall, this amusement park provides a fun and unique stop with older rides that add to its charm.
We had the most magical time here! This place is a passion project from the owner who collects antique rides from all over the US and has them restored with love. My daughter and her cousins had an absolute blast and the employees were so kind, letting my daughter pick her favorite color for each ride. I feel so blessed to have this nearby to AVL and it’s the perfect thing to do after climbing Chimney Rock!

Nice place, lovely views form the mountain top. But to be honest, too expensive for the entrance fee. I think it’s not worth it. There are similar places for free and no entrance fee.

Understaffed when they're actually busy. Causing only employee to get agitated.. taking it out on the kids.. yelling and grabbing them with force. In utter shock at this establishment and the way they conduct themselves. It's supposed to be a fun experience, not traumatic from being yelled at and grabbed. Won't be back and don't recommend. PS: the employee was the manager per her shirt, very concerning.

My family visited today and had a terrible experience. The ride attendant screamed at my 7 year old daughter while she was attempting to get on a ride, and she physically and aggressively grabbed her by the arm to move her. I am highly upset and demand a response and apology for my daughter. Thankfully for the attendant, I was not present. I am so upset. We have been vacationing in Chimney Rock since I was a child (over 25+ years) and have really enjoyed this venue. I am so upset that my daughter had to experience this from an adult who apparently cannot control her temper.
