Kärnan, the iconic medieval tower in Helsingborg, stands as a remarkable testament to the region's rich history. This impressive 35-meter structure is all that remains of a once-mighty fortress built in the early 14th century. After undergoing significant renovations, it has recently reopened its doors to visitors eager to climb its narrow stairs and soak in breathtaking views of Helsingborg and across the Oresund Strait to Helsingør, Denmark.
The tower was closed at Time when I was there, but it is a significant landmark even from outside. I definetly have to get back here one day, to see it from inside and top. The staircase to the tower was open, and it provided beautiful view to surrounding as well.
Julo M — Google review
Kärnan stands as a significant historical landmark in Helsingborg. Situated atop a hill, this well-preserved medieval tower offers a commanding aerial vista of the city and the Öresund strait. For an even more elevated perspective, visitors can ascend the tower, where panoramic views unfold, showcasing the urban layout and the surrounding landscape. The grounds surrounding Kärnan feature a charming park, providing a pleasant environment to enjoy the scenery and appreciate the historical context of this notable site.
Ravi K — Google review
A wonderful castle visit is guaranteed here, but be warned there’s around 120 steps to climb to reach the top. The experience is quite simplistic, but very good value and incredibly educational. If your someone who things “a boring castle” this is not the normal experience and that makes it all the better.
Spencer H — Google review
This was an unexpected find for us when we visited Helsingborg. A lovely medieval tower in the middle of the city, right next to the Terrace Stairs (Terrasstrapporna), and the many restaurants below the stairs. We took about 30 minutes to tour the tower, then headed down the Stairs and had dinner. The Tower is well worth the short visit.
Scott C — Google review
A single tower remaining from a medieval castle dating from the 1300s. Its prominence persists, with many people simply drawn to this impressive and curious structure.
John Q — Google review
If you’ve come to Helsingborg, I definitely recommend visiting it. The view is amazing.
Emel — Google review
Lots of history amd a great experience, especially on a sunny day. 100 sek entrance is reasonable and the view from the top in WONDERFUL. A piece of history that worths the time to visit.
Pardalis G — Google review
A great site to visit, historical, clean and well preserved. An extraordinary panoramic view of the east coast of the city. A large green area around the top and next to the boulevard. By paying, you can enter inside the tower, everything else can be visited at any time.

The center celebrates the city's cultural identity with diverse exhibitions and events that showcase the rich history from the Ice Age to modern times. The modern architecture of the building itself is an attraction, featuring an impressive glass facade and contemporary interior design.
Excellent culture House, with Restorant and coffee bar....different exhibitions and event ...

I visited this place by chance, since it's right by my hotel and since I noticed that exhibitions are free on Tuesday. The city's history exhibition is incredible. Very detailed, with tons of interesting stories about the residents of Helsingborg and its surroundings that got me absorbed for hours even though I live nowhere near here. So rich in content and varied in media: images, videos, models and even AR. Every text can also be listened to, simply by scanning QR codes. Everything here is translated into English which makes it really accessible for all (except for the AR currently unfortunately...). Looks like the curators really put their heart and soul to it and it shows. Other exhibitions included beautiful paintings of a local artist named Viktor Rosdahl and a cute one about the city's maritime heritage. Overall, a very nice cultural space. Recommended for both locals and foreigners.

Nice museum in Helsingborg’s heart area, right next to the water, with super nice view. Like the exhibition on the portraits and the history of Helsingborg. Recommend to anyone who is interested in the culture and the history. It worth 90 minutes visiting!

Amazing place by the sea, with boats docked at the front, the place is a music school for the kids, concerts to attend to, host exhibitions, and a museum telling about the history of the town of Helsingborg. Absolutely loved it and then had a nice coffee at the Dunkers Kaffe. The people of Helsingborg are a very nice lot and one can strike a conversation with almost anyone.

Worth visiting. Has some really nice free exhibits. But the the one's you pay for are not expensive & all included in the same ticket. Also, each one is very interesting. This place is also a creative space for artists to gather & they have regular events.

Sofiero Palace, situated in Helsingborg, Sweden, was once the summer residence of the Swedish royal family. The palace boasts beautiful gardens filled with seasonal flowers and is open for tours, allowing visitors to explore the rooms and halls where the royal family once lived. Originally built in 1864 by Crown Prince Oscar and his wife Sophia of Nassau, Sofiero has become a popular public attraction.
I have been here several times. In the summer the gardens are magnificent. My most recent visit was to Höstljus last night Nov 4 2024. it was my first time to this event and it was AWESOME. Beautiful display of lights accompanied with music as well as art. Kid friendly and educational. Something for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend this event. If you attend, get a cup of the Italian hot chocolate it is good.

Gorgeous summer palace with well tended sprawling gardens. Dahlias and Rhododendrons galore. Some flower beds have been kept the same for decades. The interior is so colorful and whimsical with storytelling placards. Be sure to have lunch on the back terrace!

Definitely worth a visit! A lovely little castle with huge grounds. On the grounds there is a lot to see, both beautiful gardens and interesting rhododendron areas, as well as the sea.

Such a beautiful experience. Wonderful nature. It's a bit expensive to get in, but you don't go there often I guess. Check it out.
Adam M — Google review
Unfortunately for us, we were too early for most of the spring blooms (the park was not officially open, and we didn't need to buy tickets), but it was not hard to see that it is a spectacular place when the flowers are out. There are even little "forests" for the kids to play in. We will be back at a better time, for sure. Well worth the little detour to visit. EDIT / UPDATE We returned later in the season and the grounds were lovely. Plenty of flowers out to enjoy and more importantly, the buildings were open to visit inside. The "castle" is lovely and I am so glad to have been able to see it. There was an art exhibit inside (it was only so-so), in addition to the historical exhibit (well worth the time to read). I think we will return for out third visit later in the fall when the leaves have turned colour. Bottom line: We made two trips from Oslo (14 hours total driving each time) to see this place and are planning a third trip, so I think it is very high on out list, based on our willingness to undertake such a long trip.
Scott C — Google review
We went to the ”Höstljus” (autumn lights) show. The whole park (or most of it) was decked out with various lighting installations. It was an awesome experience, even though the price is rather steep. There were aldo coffee-carts and some smaller vendors. Overall, highly recommended.

Fredriksdal Museum & Gardens in Helsingborg, Sweden, is a captivating open-air museum and botanical garden that offers an immersive experience of the country's rural heritage. The museum features over 30 historical buildings representing various architectural styles and time periods in Swedish history. Visitors can explore traditional farms, workshops, and charming cottages while strolling through blissfully leafy grounds. The site also includes herb, rose, and vegetable gardens for a tranquil retreat into nature.
A Must-Visit in Helsingborg! Fredriksdal Museum & Gardens is an absolute treasure for history-, nature lovers and anyone looking for an inspiring outdoor workspace. The beautiful blend of historical buildings, nice gardens, and peaceful walking paths makes it a perfect place to spend a day. We had the amazing opportunity to organize the first-ever international OutdoorOffice Barcamp there, and it was an unforgettable experience! Fredriksdal offers plenty of tranquil spots to work outdoors, allowing creativity to flow in a refreshing natural environment. The well-preserved farm animals add a special charm, and the historical exhibits provide a fascinating insight into Swedish rural life. Don't miss the historic skittle alley! The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring our event went smoothly. Whether you're interested in relaxing in nature, organizing a unique event, or just working outdoors in a beautiful setting, Fredriksdal has something for everyone. Tack för ett fantastiskt evenemang!

My favorite place in Helsinborg, quite close to the central station. The gardens, very diverse in style and vegetation, are relaxing and beautiful. You can see squirrels, goats, cows and horses as you wander in the gardens. The museums are little but insightful. The restaurant was a nice surprise : typical Swedish food with an affordable price and a nice setting. I can particulary recommande the äggkaka, in addition the portion was quite generous. There are also a lot of places when you can rest peacefully. Plan to stay at least 2 hours, maybe more if you plan to eat there.
Eline B — Google review
Such an amazing place!!! Very well-organized, everywhere is clean. Flowers are beautiful, staff is extremely friendly. There is also a small Cafe, highly recommended. There are power sockets all around in the houses. Rose garden is ❤️ during workdays there are hardly any people so you can roam around freely

A nice discovery in Helsinborg center. It’s an open air museum exploring Skane through flora and fauna. i was with kids and they had much fun. There are interesting activities for them including painting and stamping some flowers/leaves. There are some museum corners too, but most information is in Swedish. If you decide to visit the place, you should go with your lunch, there are wonderful picnic areas. We spent more than four hours there and it was fun.
Maka T — Google review
Wonderful place. One can learn a lot about Sweden's cultural history here. It feels refreshing after a nice walk among the nature. It's a large park with beautiful flowers and lots of farm animals. The rosary is absolutely splendid with so many varieties and so colourful. Loved the small cafe inside and the tasty cake. A must visit.
Suchandra C — Google review
Great outdoor heritage museum with great café. Currently free on Tuesdays.
Trevor G — Google review
Such a lovely place to visit, small cobble street with shops from past time. Very interesting. You find pigs, horses, and other animals at the park. Beautiful gardens also. Nice cafe. A bit pricey entrance fee.
Monica J — Google review
Definitely not worth the entrance fee of 100 SEK. About 75% of the park is just grassland/meadow with in totaal 2 cows walking around. A big part of the botanical garden is also just sand or grassland. There is absolutely nothing going on besides some nice lanes to walk through and a few old Swedish buildings that are nice to walk by. Besides that, it feels like you're just walking through the Swedish nature which you can do for free about everywhere. Only for children this might be a nice place to visit.

St. Mary Church, also known as Sankta Maria kyrka in Swedish, is a historical Romanesque and Gothic masterpiece located in the old town center of Helsingborg. Originally built in the 12th century and later enhanced with Gothic detailing in the 15th century, it was once one of the largest churches in Denmark. The church's interior is stunning, with impressive grave stones on the floor and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for quiet contemplation or relaxation.
On Mariatorget, surrounded by restaurants from all corners of the world, is Mariakyrkan. Or St. Mary’s Church as it is actually called. The church is the city’s oldest and dates from the 12th century but was rebuilt to its current gothic style in the 15th century. In the 14th century, the church was one of Denmark’s largest city churches. The place has a really peaceful vibe. If you are going inside on the left side you see the plan when which part was build of this amazing building. It’s a bit dark but the inside has a great vibe. Peaceful and you can sit there and just be by yourself: pray, sit and just take in all the art and architecture. Walking outside there is lots of cafes, bars and restaurants.
AnJa M — Google review
Saint Mary Church, known locally as Sankta Maria kyrka, stands as the oldest church in Helsingborg, Sweden, and is a true gem of medieval architecture. This historic church has roots that trace back to the 12th century, initially constructed in a Romanesque style before undergoing significant transformations. By the 15th century, the original structure had been replaced by a grand three-aisled brick church in the Gothic style, incorporating sandstone from the earlier building into its foundations.
Edward T — Google review
We passed by here while we were heading to the Terrace Stairs. The structure of the Church looks very nice, but we didn't spend much time here, after a few photos then we moved on.
Captain O — Google review

Nice church. TRIGGER WARNING: Had Tycho Brahes daughter buried inside of the wall. And the dad had left a note, saying like; She was so smart! Way smarter than her sex usually. LOL
Pontus W — Google review
Beyond the building features (from the beginning till now), also Christinty during history of Sweden (which is not easy to get even very fragmented surface view), these days very helpful events are available there, that helps people to have access to some vital and liveable features of society and humanity. It's also nice for those who are not Swedish and even new here and try to find out some chances to know about Christianity, Swedish churches, Bible. It's not about only information It's about life.

Helsingborg's City Hall is a landmark of the city by the Øresund. The towering town hall tower characterizes the skyline of Helsingborg, visible from afar. For many travelers the first picture of Sweden. The location at the narrowest part of the Øresund makes Helsingborg a "gateway to Sweden".

Jesperture — Google review
Helsingborg Town Hall is the second most important building in Helsingborg after the Karnan Tower and attracts tens of thousands of tourists from all over the world. The Town Hall building was designed by the architect Alfred Hellerstrom and completed in 1897. The building hosts meetings of the municipal council. There are also city administration offices. In 1965, even a wedding chapel was founded here for a civil ceremony. The building consists of four floors, along the perimeter there are four round towers, more angular - in the center, it is crowned with a 65-meter bell tower. The entrance to the town hall is from the main square of the city with a large baroque staircase. The Town Hall is the epitome of Swedish art and architecture and is always very impressive for tourists. A special feature is also the melodies coming from the 65-meter bell tower. These soothing tunes are played throughout the city at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 every day. 🙂👍

I did not order food but order drinks can take a while because the bartenders seem a lot overloaded with work. They have live performances on summer weekends and I highly recommend a visit if you like to listen and dance to live bands.

Very nice bar with free live music and a very nice view on the city at night. Nice interior decor.

We went there for the concert of Hugorm, that finished at 21.30. The bar staff didn’t let me know that the place was closing in 10 minutes when still serving drinks. Then they stopped the music and ask us to leave.

Best place ever in the region if you want to to get the full live music experience! For instance, I watched one of my favourite rock bands (Mustache) in big arenas supporting KIZZ etc. and they disappeared on the stage... But watching them play live at The Tivoli was one of the best live experience I ever had 😃

Very disspointing experience. We travelled from Malmo to Helsingborg to visit the museum and dispite the fact that on the internet it was presented as being open, we arrived at the museum and it was closed. We weren't the only tourists in this unpleasant situation. Please, be aware about the importance of being honest about the schedule! One on the internet and a totally different on the museum door: a small notice written with red that the museum is closed. It is not fair!
