One of the most beautiful mosque in Erbil. It seems to be a blend of the Turkish and Persian styles. The daily Imam has a great voice and the interior is just as stunning as the outside. The only problem is that it closes 15 minutes after each prayer, even Magrib, so you can't stay there from Magrib to Isha

I would love to elaborate on this mosque but it wasn't open at the time I got there (at about 8am). From the outside, the mosque is actually pretty nice and large. There are two locked gates that I would assume are the two entrances into the mosque. There is a huge parking lot for vehicles, but go slowly into it since there's no slope or ramp to "ease" into the lot. There was also a homeless guy sleeping right in front of the mosque on the street. I'll have to update this if I get the chance to visit again.

Jalil Khayat Mosque, 60 Meter St, Erbil 🕌 It was built in 2015.Usually tourist who are not Muslim can not see inside,but this time,my tour guide negotiated with security police. Women must need a hijab=scarf on the head when enter.

Historical place in the middle of Erbil There's near parking so no worries about the car. The castle is high and for those who are disciplined, there's no way can go up. There's few small hotels around and so fancy..

It was beautiful, exciting and fascinating visit ever. There were a lot of old traditional Kurdish stuff too look at and discover. Some of them like man and women old kurdish customs, there were old rugs which were created by hand and there were sea rocks! They were really nice and colourful.

Some of the must visits in citadela not to be missed. U can see traditional way of life in Kurdistan countryside, tribal way of distinquish in clothing for men and women and also beautiful traditional handmade carpets, kilims and rugs made in 1900 still looks like new. On site there is also cafe and gift shop. Place was visited by many politicians, actors or singers theirs pictures can be seen in entry area.

The museum is excellent, and the staff was wonderful. One of them gave us a detailed tour of the entire museum and shared a lot of interesting information. She was very kind and helpful. The museum is free to visit and beautifully decorated. When we visited in January 2025, the upper floor was closed. The only downside is that the museum is quite small, The museum doesn’t have many ancient artifacts. Instead, it feels more like a regional, local museum that focuses on showcasing the lives of people from the second half of the 20th century.

The exhibits are well organized and show the deep roots and traditions of the people in this area. It’s the best place to understand the origins of Ankawa and how its culture developed through time. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and the atmosphere is calm and educational. If you are visiting Ankawa or Erbil, this museum is definitely worth spending some time exploring.

The Syriac Heritage Museum was opened in 2010, entry is free and the front desk staff speaks Arabic. In general, the museum provides historical and contemporary information about the Christians of Ankawa and the region. There is missing context at times and the historical information is macro level but it is a nice museum all in all and worth visiting. To the right of the entrance are half a dozen interpretative panels focusing on Ankawa plus a historical model of what Ankawa used to look like. Straight from the entrance are several reenactment scenes which show various activities related to cotton/wool and grain processing. To the left of the entrance is the main part of the museum. This section includes interpretative panels covering the periods Before Christ, Christian Period, and Islamic Periods (Akkadian period 2334 BC through Ottoman period 1922). The rest of the floor is displays and artifacts of 19th-20th century Syriac heritage fashions/folk dress, house wares, agricultural tools, brassware, tools and stony equipment, fictile tools, and mats and textiles. The museum continues on a second floor, which has sections on the pioneers of the intellectual and cultural rise, Syriac journalism, folks occupations and handicrafts, monasteries, prominent and famous figures, Syriac schools, the Syriac alphabet, the pioneers of Syriac theatre, Syriac archaeologists, documents, the pioneers of music sign, hymnody, and the 2021 Pope Francis visit to Iraq and Kurdistan. I went through the whole museum and read all of the main historical interpretive panels and the visit took me about 75 minutes so you can plan for a 1-2 hour visit.

What a wonderful museum! The diorama of the old village is a huge plus. Really gives you an idea of the triumphs and tragedies of the Chaldean people over the centuries.

For those wanting to experience different types of illusions, this is a must go place. Kids and adults would love it alike. There are multiple illusions in their two storey building, of which most are pretty entertaining with a big element of surprise

It's a beautiful masjid even though the architectural design is old but it still has own beauty. It has a ceremony hall and enough spaces for car parking. Probably around 20 cars can park there.

Honestly, I personally have never seen a mall so huge with so many shops. It was extremely clean and organized. As with many places I believe things would be more expensive in the mall than on the street but if that's what you like then you'll have no problem there are many places to choose from as well as places to eat. A decent sized Mall with plenty of shopping choices, lots of games, toys and entertainment for the children, hence the name so shops were less than other Malls but still worth a visit. Again, because of Ramadan so much was not open, but next time we will go a different time of year!!

The calm and air conditioner are excellent, They are very clean and they clean it every minute. There is a cinema which is excellent, clean, quiet, large halls and professional staff with very reasonable prices. Also there are big games-city with too many games for children and adults and gardens. The mall contains a motel inside as a separated house which is large and suitable for families. A very recommended place to visit if you came to erbil especially if you came with your family.

A fantastic bazaar in the oldest city! Interesting and friendly place to visit Erbil. You won't find genuine biblical antiques, but you will find Kurdish people doing their everyday shopping for authentic Iraqi produce. Spices, kurdish clothing, gold, fish, vegetables, sweets, and some antiques. It is far too easy to spend hours exploring the maze of busyyy alleyways with the rich aromas of spices wafting throughout the bazaar. Not many places can brag about being the oldest (or one of the oldest!) continually inhabited city in the world - enjoy!

Historical and cultural shopping area in Hawler, must visit as it's right next to the Citadel. Beautiful architecture and you can find anything that you are looking for. Most stores close at sunset, suggested to go earlier than 6PM.

Qaysari Bazaar . Erbil contains an extensive Qaysari, just south of the citadel in the center of town that was first established in the early 13th century AD. The Qaysari is entered through numerous alleys surrounding the Qaysari. Once inside, shoppers walk through a maze of narrow paths between the shops, underneath a roof of corrugated metal. Most alleys feature a unique product that is sold by a majority of the vendors in that location. The northeast corner of the Qaysari contains a north-south alley offering honey and dairy products, such as yogurt and cheeses. Many shops offer Chai Kurdi (Kurdish Tea) as a complimentary drink with good business from the local tea vendors in the Bazaar. Thé central bazar, bustling with activity, small shops, coffee shops and restaurants where you can grab something to eat is awesome. An overwhelming blend of aromas, fragrances and - above all- sounds. Stop and try the Baklava, sweets made of filo pastry and covered with syrup and honey...Forrest Gump’s box of chocolate has got nothing on these!

Nice area during the day however we went back at night for food and we got some people that weren't to happy with us that made there views extremely clear, however we kept going and they went away. Hopefully it was only a random once off and it's not normally like that

just because a place is called a teashop doesn’t mean that they don’t serve coffee as well. such is the case for the machko teashop, or the chaxanay machko. built into the walls of the unesco-listed erbil citadel, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited places on the planet, it is known to be the second oldest teashop in erbil. for 500 iraqi dinars [approximately forty cents u.s.], you can join the list of decades of patrons who have enjoyed a tea, while talking literature, art, journalism and politics. this particular teashop is known to attract intellectuals, artists and academians. the interior will transport you to days in the lost past of kurdistan and may make you feel like you just stepped into an indiana jones film. as part of its traditional ambience, the walls are lined with rugs and old photos and there are also a huge number of books, which i suspect are free to be read while you enjoy your traditional tea or coffee.

It's a scam for tourist. 4500 dinars for a bottle of water. I understand things might be more expensive because of the place and thw views, but 4500d when usual price is 500d... it's a scam. It's definitely not worth it.

A landmark Cafe. If you get the chance to visit, then you are probably in one of the most famous Cafes in Erbil. This place was visited by many leaders from around the world. I sat facing the road once and inside on another visit. I have seen the city vibe and the constant movement. It feels that the place never sleep. I liked visiting this traditional coffee shop, drink tea and coffee and will definitely visit again.

The view is amazing, especially in winter, the place’s design is incredible, but the smoke and the smell of shisha is really bothering, it makes the place unsuitable for everyone. + service price is too high, we went there to drink tea, for three cups of tea we ended up paying 8,000 IQD

The restrooms also fail to meet the expected standards in terms of cleanliness. A major issue was experienced at Defacto. After selecting a few items to purchase, the checkout process was unexpectedly slow. There was only one cashier handling payments, despite a queue of more than nine people. When asked why additional staff weren’t brought in to speed up the process, the cashier rudely responded, “This is how things work; there is no need to bring in more employees. Surprisingly, there were more than three available checkout counters, yet only one was operational. The lack of consideration for waiting customers made the shopping experience frustrating and unnecessarily time consuming.

personally I find this mall very beautiful, and although it has a lot of amusing and aesthetic pieces of art inside and outside, I would recommend it less than other malls yes, it has many cafés and places to sit down and it would be a beautiful place to just stroll and talk with a friend, but it does offer things at a higher prices and it does not really offer anything too special that you cannot find in other malls, it still does offer a variety of brands, I would still recommend it

Beautiful elegant and gorgeous place for family and friends to visit for spending a great time and have a good food in the food court, the mall is so vast and colorful. It's really well orientated and nicely decorated. There is alot to do there from shopping, walking, playing or dining. I recommend to visit it its a nice place to see. There is parking underground, there are 3 gates, opposite to Hardee's, and Bolivard Towers, and the other side.

A beautiful mall relatively newly opened in the city. Located next to the world trade center and Radisson Blu hotel in the new luxurious Gulan district in Erbil, Gulan Mall serves as the main shopping center of the district. Not very big, but very elegant, upperclass, not crowded and beautifully designed interior, i enjoyed my time there.

The very first residential compound in Erbil, the place is overlooking Sami Abdulrahman Park, has a relatively big electronic mall (Neon Zone) with very reasonable prices, a humongous supermarket (Holland bazaar), also on your way out there a few shops and a fast-food place

English Village villas are not very new and most of them are occupied by offices that makes it not a purely residential area. However, the lawns / gardens next to each villa are charming. It is truly a treat to see the beautiful rose bushes and trees.

Although located in Erbil, Iraq, English Village on a sunny day feels far from home, with palm trees, green grass, cyclists, dog-walkers, and nice cars, it’s easy to momentarily forget the world outside these walls. The village is a very nice style quit and good location nice greens but the weather is so heavy from the type of trees that imported into the gardens and some really issues with the bugs plus no enough space to walk and mostly homes need some repairs and main street has no parking areas though the market is really great and the restaurants inside area is perfect really good to spend some time there i totally recommend trying out the restaurants such as nemlia and narinj also elite gym is a great gym.. The rent is tok high and the new buldings can make an issues for the noise and the dust while it gonna take longer than expected the effects on the outside road in front of roya was too uncomfortable and leads to difficult situations to the people living around especially in roya towers movement become so stressful and difficult plus 2 accidents happened because of it wish someone could fix this situation

The location of the museum is just fantastic being in a castle and seeing old gems is a very beautiful experience the entery is with a small fee and the inside is cool. I would say the downside of the location is not a lot of people are there that is why there isn't much attention paid for the museum with some revenations it would be a great place.

It is the only gem museum in Erbil until June 2017. Considering its new establishment, it has a nice collection of stones and everything is put on show in a stylish way. The collection is from around the world. You can buy nice small stones for low price. The owner is passionate to explain the exhibited items.

Interesting gems that i personally did not know existed .. although some of it was fake which gives it a disadvantage plus there was a tiny store inside that sold jewelry made of stones they were beautiful but expensive wouldn't recommend buying them .. you can get better ones for cheaper price if you don't mind traveling a bit more around the bazar
