Nature & Parks
Solfatara, a steaming and dormant volcano, was once believed to be the dwelling place of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. This site has captivated people since ancient times and is also where San Gennaro was martyred. The area boasts natural wonders such as rivers of red-hot mud, sulfur fumaroles, and the Averno lake which was considered by ancients as the entrance to the underworld.
The path is clised sometimes due to safety reasons. We were unfortunate and could not visit it.
Alexander H — Google review
The park itself seems to be closed. It was still possible to see the park and steam from far away but it was not possible to enter.
Malte G — Google review
Scary but incredible that I was there Not to long ago .. it's an Incredible sight but deserves incredible respect such as that respect given to the Mount Vesuvio!! Nature is spectacular and lets us know we're very Small in comparison! GOD BLESS ALL OF NAPOLI ALL OF THE PEOPLE OF NAPOLI AND ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO LIVE NEAR THESE VOLCANOS

Great and a bit smelly experience :) We were unlucky cause it was closed due to some construction repairs.. If u find your self in such situation u can still have some of it...just follow the road another 50m uphill and you'll get the wiew from the photos. It is situated in a vulcano crater and you can see some sulfur steam activity inside... There are several vulcanos in the area nice for afternoon walks...
Antonio T — Google review
Still closed following the 2017 accident. However you can walk around the rim up a road to the left of the entrance marked on the map and get a good view over the caldera.
Cameron T — Google review
One can only speculate how much longer this volcano in the middle of a residential area is keeping quiet.
Mark — Google review
This is currently closed. You can look from the road.
Gregory P — Google review
This place is absolutely amazing, and I’ll never forget my visit in 2010. But it has been closed since 2017 due to a tragic accident. Supposedly you can look down into the crater from the surrounding hills but I don’t really think that is worth the trip. It will probably never reopen any time soon.

The Macellum Temple of Serapis is a fascinating site located in Pozzuoli, Italy. This ancient Roman public market features three impressive marble columns amidst well-preserved archaeological ruins. Visitors can explore this historical gem along with other nearby attractions such as the Anfiteatro Flavio Neroniano, Lake Avernus, Campi Flegrei volcanic area, Cave of the Sibyl archaeological site, and Aragonese Castle of Baia.
An excellent site to see the mark of land rising a to down years

Roman archeological site in pozzuoli just in front of the water line. Though not maintained and no entrance allowed is a nich sight to the eyes from the outside...
David N — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. You can get a impressive view of the site if you approach from the direction of the train station. It's wonderfully located with the sea as a background. Unfortunately you can't enter the site.
Tim P — Google review
If your around the area great place to visit, was a market with a possible temple at it's centre. Interesting story due to seismic activity in the area
Luke C — Google review
I had a free afternoon and was looking for an archeological site near the water... This fit the bill! I wasn't able to go inside for a tour but it was still really cool to see and walk around the area. Also if note, there are a few paid parking spots nearby but not a lot so I imagine it's tricky to park in the busy season.
Elisa T — Google review
Its an ancient Roman Temple which host the signs when it was submerged in the sea. Because of the deformation related to volcanic activities and tectonics its now above the sea level. Interesting to visit and see you can clearly sea the part which was once submerged in the sea water.

Nice place to visit, distance observation of open air historical monument.

Beautiful .... the history of our city is so great ...... It was the ancient public Macellum in the Flavian age. It is so called because during the excavations of 1750 a statue of the Egyptian god Serapis was found. It was the thermometer for the bradyseism of Pozzuoli, in fact on the columns of the temple there are signs related to the raising and lowering of the sea level over the centuries.

Baiae, an ancient Roman town located on the northwest shore of the Gulf of Naples and now part of Bacoli, was known as a lively party destination. Today, visitors can explore extensive spa complexes and even take boat rides over submerged villas. The Romans held a belief that Lake Avernus, a volcanic crater lake in the area, served as the entrance to the underworld.

Lido
Spiaggia della Gaiola is a stunning public beach located in Naples, within the marine protected area of Parco Sommerso della Gaiola. The beach offers wonderfully clear waters and breathtaking views of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples. With limited capacity to protect marine flora and fauna, visitors need to reserve their spot online in advance. The beach is divided into morning and afternoon shifts, each allowing 75 people with restrictions on motorboats and fishing.
If you can book, don’t hesitate to! Cleanest beach and bluest water! We were so lucky to find two available spots! There were only locals around. The only bad thing is getting there. 30 minutes till the beach and 30 minutes back, walk.
Sanzi 2 — Google review
Beautiful beach reserve. You need to book tickets in advance but they are free. The water is really clean and you are not supposed to enter with any plastics, glass etc. The views were beautiful and the water was clean and clear. Decent walk to get to the beach but worth it in my opinion. Really loved it
Colonna — Google review
Highly recommend booking online, tricky to find if you're going for your first time. It's quite a walk but absolutely worth it. It's very clean and safe. You're not allowed to bring any outside plastic items, so beware there is security at the entrance. It's a lovely spot. My favorite Beach to go to in Naples! Zero tourists which is a huge bonus and makes for a much more enjoyable experience.
Pasha — Google review
The walk to the beach is roughly 30 minutes but it is worth it. Please do not follow Google map as you will end up on a private road with no access to the beach. When you see the private road signs to your left (as per picture bellow) keep the right and keep walking down the main road.
Roberta M — Google review
I was really disappointed with this beach. I had read so many great reviews and booking a spot in advance was easy, so my expectations were high. On their website, they clearly state that plastic is not allowed and they promote an eco-friendly environment, but when we arrived, there were plastic bags and other debris floating in the sea. The water itself wasn’t very clean either. I was also expecting to see the islands connected by the bridge, as shown in the pictures, but it turns out you can’t actually see them from the beach at all. Overall, very disappointing.
Iva K — Google review
Good afternoon here. All free, don’t forget to book. Clean and wild.
Sabrina B — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. But insanity getting down and up from the beach. Also I think it’s incredibly stupid not to allow people to take water down with them but then allow them to take other snacks wrapped in plastic. Surely water is more important? If you’re going to enforce this rule you have to let people know when they book!!!
Karen J — Google review
You need to book 1-2 days before, quite easy but you need to be quick! I booked after midnight for the next day. The place is nice, you can explore the area and swim freely, clear water and nice sea life. It’s better if you bring water shoes, it can be dangerous if you go in and out a lot. Only downside is that we didn’t bring any water or food and the “office” is closed on Monday.. They didn’t really checked the bags and IDs, only the Q-code was needed. Other people also brought bottles and plastic stuff. Public transport is bad, be prepared to wait for it and to climb a lot of stairs down and up to get to the beach.

Scoglione Marechiaro is a stunning and protected area that offers an amazing sea experience. While it may not be immediately accessible, the effort to reach it is well worth it. Visitors can take a wooden boat to access the beautiful semi-isolated beach on the cliff, where they can rent umbrellas and deck chairs at reasonable prices. The crystal-clear water allows for great visibility of fish, making it perfect for snorkeling.

Gaiola Island is a small island located in a protected marine area near Naples. It features an abandoned villa that locals believe to be cursed, adding to its mysterious allure. Accessing the island involves a challenging descent through ancient Neapolitan houses, but the effort is said to be worth it. The island offers a spectacular beach and a submerged park, making it an unforgettable destination for swimming and exploration. However, visitors should be prepared for the strenuous climb back up from the island.
Spectacular beach, as well as a submerged park, the Gaiola is a place not to be missed, despite the effort to arrive thanks to a beautiful descent that turns into a strenuous climb to do on foot ...To be seen early in the morning for the line only the first 100 can enter carry shoes and spirit of adaptation mine lasted about 1.30

I expected something special. After a 10 minutes walk down from the parking, there was a tiny beach and an uninforming information center. The islands themselves are closed for visitors. One can see the Islands and the connecting bridge from about 50 distance. The areas of special interest for snorkeling with sunken villas are inside the protection area A - not allowed to enter. When I was snorkeling the sight was maybe 2-3 meters in an area of 100 m from the beach. Quite some fish up to 30 cm, nothing special. Maybe I should have snorkeled farther out. I think there are many other interesting beaches around.

Baia Trentaremi is a popular bay lookout known for its breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, cliffs, and sunset. It can be reached by paddling from Gaiola, offering a beautiful beach experience. However, it's important to note that the area is unfortunately affected by plastic and construction waste. The beach can be accessed from Cordoglio in about 40 minutes of calm swimming or by kayak for a more peaceful journey.

It's a shame that there is a bit of waste - who knows how they get there - but it's worth getting there by canoe or swimming, you have to be careful if you decide to enter the nearby caves, with a few waves it can be dangerous. There are signs everywhere of landslide danger, as it is mostly tuff around. (Original) Fantastica zona remota che si raggiunge solo dal mare. Reachable from Cordoglio in 40 minutes (one way) of calm swimming with fins (but do it safely, with the signal buoy and keeping an eye on the boats). Lucy C — Google review
The best thing were the friendly woman at the counter selling the tickets and the women selling the food. 35€ for two people to get entrance to the pool, 2 beach lounger and one umbrella. The facilities were in ok condition, but for that price definitely not good enough (wooden floor was broken, with little nails showing out, so it was dangerous to walk there without shoes, the shower on the pool was dirty and with nearly no water coming out). At least they tried their best to keep the place and the pool clean. The pool was quite refreshing though. You’re not allowed to bring any food or drinks inside the facility (they control it) and to go into the swimmingpool it’s mandatory to wear a bathing cap, which for us was very uncomfortable. Also the pool boy who told us to wear it, was not very friendly, talking to us in Italian language knowing we don’t understand properly. So as a tourist we didn’t feel very welcome here. The restaurant is self-service, with higher prices then normal for Pozzuoli. The food was ok, could have been better for that amount we’ve paid. 20€ for a little pasta, rice salad and a drink. We definitely would NOT come back here and we also would not recommend it to anyone, especially tourists. We expected more and we got disappointed. There are way cheaper, friendlier and more beautiful locations to relax in Pozzuoli.

Grotty, lots of litter, difficult to get to, poor disabled access. Surrounded by derelict industry and grot. Few nearby amenities. It has nice views but the beach is effectively a cul du sac and can not be used as a route to anywhere. Hopefully when they redevelop the adjoining sites, this would open up the coast a lot more and this would improve access and enjoyablity a lot.

The beach is only for guests but after 2pm it is no longer possible to become a guest for that day. Despite the fact that all the sunbeds were empty, we were not sold a single one and we could not use the bar because we could not buy beach admission at 4 p.m. and without admission cards you can not buy anything at the bar. (Translated by Google) Good service that of the online booking that allows you to choose where to stay and arrive without stress. Good sea. More attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the beach: it is true that everyone should throw away their own waste, but in front of the mao mao the structure should ensure a bit of decency. In the middle of the afternoon the bathroom dries up full of bags and bottles. Even when we first arrived the ashtrays under the umbrellas were full of garbage. This aspect absolutely needs to be improved (Original) Buon servizio quello della prenotazione on Line che ti permette di scegliere dove stare e arrivare senza stress. Mare buono.
