Art Museums
Museo Pedro de Osma is a century-old mansion in Peru that offers guided tours of colonial Peruvian artworks, gardens, and grounds. It is part of a trio of art museums in Lima, along with MATE/Museo de Mario Testino and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Lima. Visitors can purchase a discounted ticket to all three museums and explore them at a leisurely pace. The museum provides insight into Inka vs. Colonial history through its vivid art collection.
Lovely museum to step out of the hustle and bustle of Lima and return to a time when Peru was simpler and quieter. The house and grounds are magnificent and the wonderful colonial art adds to the refined atmosphere of this museum.

Go for the architecture and the layout of the gardens, both of which are stunning. The art is an interminable display of yet more Christian allegory, heavy on the “constipated figurative” school, none of which is especially interesting if you’ve been to a single church at any point in your life.
Mohsin S — Google review
Amazing story of powerful family and their home with amazing art history. No photos allowed from inside, you must come see!
Thomas B — Google review
A nice museum if you appreciate architecture and garden design, but beyond that, I didn’t find it very engaging for the price.
André M — Google review
A must see museum, composed of several buildings of religious and secular art, costumes, coins and daily items from the Spanish era. The grounds are also gorgeous and manicured for every detail. Do not miss this gem.
John K — Google review
Brilliant religious iconography display. Well curated and displayed in a beautiful setting. Historical information about the generational ownership of the house and grounds.

Nice little hidden gem of a museum in the Barranco district. It is small, but has a nice collection of Peruvian art from before and after the conquest. The house and grounds are beautiful and well maintained as well.

Museums
Located in the Barranco neighborhood of Lima, the Lima Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) offers a modern space showcasing art from the 1950s to present. The museum features rotating exhibitions, ensuring visitors always have something new to see. In addition to its permanent collection, MAC also hosts temporary exhibitions featuring Latin American and European artists.
Great museum collection! The space includes both permanent and temporary displays. Really enjoyed walking through the galleries and admiring the contemporary art. Worth visiting when in the area.

It looks a well intentioned museum to highlight works of Peruvian artists. The building has large, very spacious exhibition rooms well lit from the natural light. HOWEVER, collection/exhibition is very limited and has so narrow breath. 🫤 There’s complete lack of sculptures and/or 3D pieces. * There MUST be a number of contemporary sculptors in Lima or nationwide, whose art are worth chasing after for exhibition here. 🫤 A lot of photographic exhibits are more of random shots of political events, lacking an artistic rendition of such events. * The photos are VERY FLAT IMAGES rather than expressive imagery that would convey why the photographer was attracted by that instant in time. * Many of the shots seem very elementary/rudimentary, lacking depths of focus. *The photos FAIL TO EVOKE EMOTION, as such they seem misplaced for this museum. 🫤 Similarly, exhibitions of framed newspaper articles from the recent past are mere collages, like a hobbyist’s scrapbook. They FAIL TO CONVEY AN AESTHETIC rationale why they were put together. 😎 There’s a few of the paintings, especially the abstracts, that are worth the time for visual and intellectual feast.
A ( — Google review
While the ongoing exhibit on Inca photographs by a local artist was good, the permanent collection was just housed in a big hall. Very little explanations. Overall a rather disappointing lay out and art works that were neither inspiring or interesting.
Jules D — Google review
Very nice and modern museum in Barranco. The place is quiet, surrounded by trees, and perfect to relax and enjoy art. The exhibitions are interesting, with local and international artists. The building is beautiful, and there’s a nice café outside (Beso Francés) to have a coffee and crepe after your visit.
Adrian H — Google review
Fun contemporary museum with a cute park around the outside. They were between exhibitions so there wasn't a lot to see within the galleries, but the one show that was up was fun to explore. Recommend a trip to see what's happening in the Peruvian contemporary art space 🧡
Lindsey D — Google review
Great contemporary art museum with a good collection of Peruvian art. Special exhibitions as well. Highly recommended.
Gordon W — Google review
Small with 3 rooms, you can easily walk the museum in an hour. Very cool exhibits and worth a stop.
Aimee L — Google review
The museum was small but there was a lot of intention behind the set up. For 20 soles, it was worth it. I loved learning about modern art in Peru. It's very photograph heavy, but there were also very unique pieces that spoke to Peru and its history. When we went, Javier Silva Meingel's work was being showcased, and I thought his journey of photography was wonderful.

Isolina is a humble eatery that pays homage to hardworking Peruvian women, particularly the owner's mother, Isolina Vargas. The restaurant serves traditional homemade dishes that were once closely guarded secrets of Lima's mothers.
This is a simple restaurant on a corner in Barranco, Lima. The food is amazing with incredible flavors. People told me this is one of the best restaurants in the world. I think that is too much, but it is definitely a very good choice. The food has excellent taste and very good seasoning. All dishes have explosion of flavors. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. Good option when visiting Lima. The flavors are really special and well prepared.

The service here was truly top notch and one of the highlights of our visit. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome, and the atmosphere was very casual and relaxed — exactly the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and not feel rushed. It made for a very enjoyable dining experience. The food was absolutely awesome. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, which was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The portion size was surprisingly generous — easily enough for two people to share, especially if you’re pairing it with other dishes. It had that classic combination of savory beef, onions, tomatoes, and fries that makes this dish such a favorite, and it was seasoned just right. We also tried the mixed salad, which ended up being much bigger than we expected. It was fresh, crisp, and nicely put together, making it a great side to balance out the richness of the main dish. A special shout-out to Nick, our server, who was excellent. He was attentive without being overbearing, checked on us often, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience — great service, casual and welcoming ambiance, and excellent food that we would definitely come back for. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a relaxed spot with consistently good dishes and friendly staff.

Tried tonight after reading the good reviews. We turned up after 17:30 without reservation (on Sundays they close at 19) and got a table upstairs. We ordered the Ají de Gallina and the Seco de Asado de Tira con Arroz y Frijoles. Both were excellent. The portions are super generous: we had a choice between a personal and a sharing portions - please trust me and stick with the personal, we're keen eaters but two dishes could easily have fed 3 people! I had a Pisco Sour, also excellent albeit extremely expensive at S/42 each - that's completely unjustified as I had the same at nearby Canta Rana for S/28. Service was fast and professional & the ambiance lovely. Highly recommend you try this place & I would definitely return. However, if it's ceviche you're after, I would suggest Canta Rana nearby for more choice and better price points.

This is lovely slightly posh restaurant with traditional peruvian dishes. Service was nice, and the location is lovely. The food was excellent and generous. I would strongly recommend to make a reservation (we were lucky and couple of minutes later the queue started to form outside). I would come again.
Jakub K — Google review
I went alone and put my name on the list, then came back an hour later and got seated. Unfortunately, the table I was given was awkward and not very comfortable. The service felt purely transactional: they took my order, brought the food, never checked in to see if I liked it, and then asked for a tip. The crispy fish sandwich was very crunchy and salty but lacked depth of flavor. Even with mayo, it felt dry and unbalanced. The beef dish had tender meat, but it was also quite salty, and the fries in the sauce made it feel oily and heavy. On the plus side, the portions were generous. The experience wasn’t terrible, but for the hype around this place, it felt overrated and underwhelming.
Tiger S — Google review
It’s a Peruvian taverna with good classical dishes but more expensive than other local Peruvian restaurants around where you can get same quality at better prices. It does not give authentic local vibe but more a spot where tourists goes. Lomo saltado was very good I have to say.
Tina A — Google review
Amazing food! What else can I say?! Just real down Peruvian comfort food. Just make reservations ahead of time. Definitely one the best ones. Great location in Barranco to walk right after a great meal.
Denisse D — Google review
This is one of the more popular spots to eat in Miraflores and with good reason. They have a lower and an upper floor for dining. The staff was amazing and very kind, we got our food quite quick. We ordered their lomo saltado, make sure that your order for 1 or 2 people only as that is more than enough. Our portion was too big for both of us. However, the taste was really good. The ambience in the restaurant was great!

Canta Rana has become one of the top dining spots in Barranco, Lima. The restaurant is renowned for its delectable Peruvian cuisine, particularly its seafood dishes like ceviche and mixed seafood chicharron. However, it also offers a diverse menu including pasta and meat dishes to cater to different preferences. The casual ambiance attracts a mix of locals and tourists, creating a multicultural dining experience.
What a wonderful experience, to start our culinary journey through Peru 🇵🇪 from this excellent spot! Had the ceviche imperial de lenguado (fine flounder), grilled lenguado and caldo de blue mussels. Also tried their famous pisco sour (packs a punch, but I sipped it slowly through the meal. I'm seriously considering going back tomorrow for more ceviche!
Eugenio C — Google review
It is a small, warm and friendly place. The menu is exclusively seafood, everything is fresh. The ambiance is very cozy. The football fans find here a lot of interesting items. The prices are reasonable.
Olga M — Google review
Recommended by a local, good food and good value! Love the ceviche, but I find the causa to be too saucy. Love the decor of a family restaurant, there is a story about the owner being from Argentina. The service can be slow and very little English is spoken, but it wasn't a problem ordering. Would definitely revisit when I come to Lima again.
Paul L — Google review
Be aware that the portion is big and expensive. We walked in because we thought it would be at the rate of the locals. It’s not. The ceviches are nice but the rice would be for 6-8 persons portion and charging at a whopping 50 (12 euros). The football part is fun though.
I-Hsuan L — Google review
The place looks very cool. I had a fish ceviche and it was good, but to be honest, not the best I've had - the soup itself had way too much lime/lemon juice, which made it too sour for my taste, compared to other places where I've tried it. Everything else was great.
Daniel T — Google review
My go to spot for ceviches and tiraditos in Lima, you must try their fish soup as well. Excellent quality products. My favorite : guarda royal + tiradito afogato especial.
Tina A — Google review
Lovely place with very friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious and most portions were huge. I would love to go back!
Pari S — Google review
Stumbled upon this spot while wandering around Barranco — it popped up high in the reviews, and for good reason. Packed, buzzing, full of locals and curious travelers. The kind of place where a plastic menu doesn’t mean mediocre — it means tradition. A friendly local couple helped me order, and what landed on the table was nothing short of a seafood riot: 🐟 Tiradito de pescado — delicate slices of fish, bathed in a sunshine-yellow ají amarillo sauce. Creamy, spicy, citrusy — Peruvian sashimi with attitude. Choclo kernels on the side, because Peru never forgets the corn. 🦐 Camarones al ajillo — sizzling shrimp drowned in a garlicky oil bath, served still bubbling. We tore through bread just to mop up the sauce. 🌶️ That little pot of chili? Beautifully brutal. A few drops go a long way. Respect. 🍮 Suspiro Limeña — silky manjar blanco topped with a port wine meringue. Light, rich, sweet — it’s what you’d want to end a meal with when you’ve gone heavy on salt and spice. ⏳ I barely waited 10 minutes — lucky me. Others queued long and hard. Worth it? Absolutely. 💸 Not cheap — but seafood rarely is. You get your money’s worth in flavor and authenticity. 🪑 Vibe? Classic Peruvian cantina: walls full of football memorabilia, families and solo diners packed tight, and the waitstaff running at full tilt. Zero pretension. Just food. 📍Would I return? In a heartbeat.

(Translated by Google) I go to MAC quite often, and the same thing always happens to me, no matter which store, but especially the one in Miraflores. I usually want to buy a specific product, but the salespeople offer me some combo deal, which supposedly means I can get several products at a reduced price. However, when I decide to accept it, it turns out that the offer is suddenly gone, they've confused something, or I'd misunderstood. Today, for example, at the Falabella store, I wanted to buy a lipstick. The salesperson told me that the lip liner in the same shade was available at a discount. When I decided to get it, they suddenly told me it wasn't actually on sale and that I had to pay full price. In total, they wanted to charge me almost 196 soles for a lipstick and a lip liner. Obviously, I decided not to buy it. Later, I went to another MAC store in Ripley, and there was the exact same deal. I ended up buying a lipstick and a lip liner for 129 soles. The truth is, it's very obvious that in some stores, salespeople try to deceive customers to increase their sales. At least, that's what happens to me frequently, and I always leave the store feeling very uncomfortable. Tomorrow I'm going to return the lipstick I bought at an overpriced price. Evidentemente decidí no comprarlo.

The bar offers classic pisco sours with a twist, such as using passion fruit or Andean fruits like aguaymanto and tumbo. The establishment also serves refreshing Chilcano cocktails and their famous Tunche made with pisco, strawberries, and passion fruit pulp.
A lovely spot, the place itself is huge. You can tell that it's more of a bar/late night drink venue, but we went for lunch and the food was delicious. A wide range of drinks also! Our waiter Renato gave us some reccommendations and was lovely with us!

Before dinner tonight, let's have a drink before we wait for dinner (😂) at Ayahuasca Restobar. This shop also has a cocktail called Ayahuasca Sour. I asked if it was made from Ayahuasca and she said no, it's just the name. 😂😂😅 Okay, but I didn't order that cocktail anyway. But the other glasses were all good. Local ingredients, local liquors as usual. The shop is very beautiful.

I'm absolutely OBSESSED with this place! I stopped by for lunch, but I can only imagine how magical dinner must be. This restaurant/bar consistently exceeds my expectations - they're one of those rare gems that never disappoint. Their handcrafted cocktails are truly some of the best in Barranco! The food? Absolutely divine. I devoured the octopus with sautéed vegetables, and the chicken nuggets were a surprising highlight. But what really sets this place apart is its unique atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, I fell in love with the exterior and interior design of the building. And then there's the courtyard... it's like a little slice of heaven. The combination of high tables, outdoor seating, and cozy heated lamps creates the perfect ambiance, even on chilly days. I can only imagine how breathtaking it must look at night. If you're looking for a truly special experience in Barranco, look no further. This place will capture your heart!

Specialty Museums
Nestled in the heart of Lima, the Place of Memory, Tolerance and Social Inclusion (LUM) serves as a poignant exhibition space dedicated to exploring Peru's tumultuous history from 1980 to 2000. This era was marked by violent confrontations between the government and terrorist factions like the Shining Path and Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement.
The museum explains the violence that occurred between the Shining Path libration army (Maoist socialist group that gain power in the countryside) and the military. There were many victims and you get to hear their stories. Unfortunately the English explanation was non existent. The QR codes were suppose to take you to a Google drive page with English audio but I didn’t find it there on occasion. Also, the building is built on the cliffs and being surrounded by the cliffs did not make it easy to receive any signal… what I did realized was that there were a lot about the Shining paths atrocities but there wasn’t much regarding what the military did to the citizens caught in between. I’m just a casual visitor but I could tell it just from following up on wiki that there’s more to the story. Exhibition aside, it’s an excellent contemporary architecture that is built into the cliff side. The entrance of the building makes you descend into the depths between the building and the cliffs methodically creating the feeling of being stuck between a rock and a hard place which is what many of the victims felt. The entire museum is connected via ramps (close to being wheelchair accessible) and light penetrations from both sides (from the windows) as well as from top to bottom (from the circular sky lites and glass gaps between the slab). The roof is an open space with amazing views of the Pacific. Highly recommend it for people who enjoy history and contemporary architecture.

we loved this museum! i took my parents who were university students during the peak years of terrorism and they enjoyed reflecting on the history. amazing experience, i recommend going in order to keep this historical memory alive!

This place wasn't on my itinerary, but I am so glad that I went. The place does a great job of explaining the years of terrorism and violence in Peru. I had read a lot about those difficult years before and how Peru struggled with extreme violence and instability. These exhibitions may be too graphic for some people, but I don't think it's good to hide the truth, especially when there are so many different narratives about these events. There's a section where they display the testimony of either actual victims of terrorism or close relatives of people who died during these years. I was holding back my tears. Some people say the exhibition is biased in favor of the Peruvian government, but I didn't think that way because there are several mentions of how the Peruvian government also participated in the violence. It is sad that the most affected were the working class and rural people. This was a tragedy. The museum is located in a very good area, but I recommend to use a car or Uber/Cabify to get there. Entrance is free of charge and you just have to complete a simple form with your info. The only thing I would change is that we need English translations because I think the world needs to know about this and stop pretending terrorists are social leaders. ¡TERRORISMO NUNCA MÁS!
Eduardo R — Google review
This is an interesting, informative and well presented museum dedicated to the tumultuous and traumatic period in Peruvian history between 1980 and 2000. Entrance to the museum is free of charge and one has to sign in with security at the entrance and record an official ID number- I used the number of my German passport. The security/museum staff were all courteous and professional. The restroom within the museum was clean and well maintained. The museum is well organized and exhibits are presented on several different levels of the museum structure. Within the confines of the museum is a library with books and other materials pertaining to this chapter in Peruvian history. The narratives of the exhibits are exclusively in Spanish. Despite my minimal understanding of Spanish I still found the museum profound and as someone who enjoys contemporary history definitely worth a visit.

This museum has a great architectural profile with a rich history of the violence uprising in the country. The way you move through the museum is interesting, as you get rewarded with amazing views of the pacific coast after the exhibition(s)

Great museum. Learned a lot about the lost decade of the 80s and the terrorism of the SL. Very well curated with testimonies of victims and those who lost friends and family. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Lima

LUM is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. The building itself is striking. If you’re into understanding the story of violence, the Shining Path, the conflict years (1980-2000) and the politics, this is a must visit. Inside, everything is in Spanish, but Google Translate come to rescue! It gives voices of those who lived through the internal conflicts. It’s moving and I thought they did a good job in being honest.
Elaine ( — Google review
Insightful and well laid out museum. However no explanation or audio guide other than Spanish. Phone reception is patchy so we only managed half the exhibition (front half of each floor) on google translate. I hope the government give them the funding to provide multi language information in future on this important topic (or just start charging tourists - we would have been happy to pay). I understand English tours can be booked 2 weeks in advance.

Nestled in the vibrant streets of Lima, the Museo Jade Rivera is a hidden gem that showcases the remarkable artistry of renowned Peruvian muralist Jade Rivera. Known for his captivating fusion of human figures and natural elements, this museum offers an intimate glimpse into his murals, paintings, and installations that delve deep into social themes and cultural heritage. With over two decades of experience, Rivera's work reflects his personal journey and connection to nature while exploring everyday life through emotive imagery.
A very enjoyable experience to see the creative evolution of an artist from street art to art with striking details and powerful cultural stories. Lots of work but will only require an hour or two. Nice gift shop.

This small museum dedicated to the work of Peruvian muralist Jade Rivera is definitely worth a visit. It gives an overview of his career and evolution of his style. Beautiful paintings and a lovely little gift shop. Cynthia was working during our visit and gave thoughtful and in depth answers to our questions about the artist. We spent about 45 minutes there- a great easy stop when you are exploring Barranco.
Katy B — Google review
I really enjoyed the way the museum presents the work. You get to see Jade Rivera's progression from young graffiti artist to a more refined and nuanced perspective over the years. I don't know if I missed the most recent stuff or if 2022 is the last new works in the museum. I would have liked to see or at least read about the latest projects he might be working on. I was told with my ticket I could have a guided tour, but I chose to just wander through on my own. Perhaps that was a mistake on my part. The entrance was very reasonable at 15 soles.

Amazing museum and gallery! You have to check this out. It costs 10 soles to get in and is well worth it. The gallery is a cool story of Jade's artist journey in murals and graffiti. We bought a few prints and sculptures in the gift shop afterwards. The employees are really helpful too. Loved this spot.

Bajada de Baños in Barranco is a charming and picturesque area that has retained its original style since the earthquake of 1940. The Plaza de Armas of Barranco, surrounded by colonial buildings, offers a delightful stroll among colorful flowers, statues, and fountains. The small 'ranchos' built into the cliffs now house inviting restaurants, creating a unique atmosphere.
Great place to see murals. It is just a street about a kilometre that has various murals painted surrounded by restaurants and vendors and at the end of the street there is water view and beach. Surrounding area has a nice park and is easy walk from municipal park. I would use the anchor point as municipal park and there is a tourist info centre nearby that can give you a map of the areas and interesting areas to visit.

(Translated by Google) Barranco is a bohemian district, but steeped in history. The descent from Baños is a lovely walk, and you can enjoy the Bridge of Sighs, a must-see for lovers and anyone romantic and who enjoys the sea breeze. If you can, you can make a wish before crossing the bridge, and then hold your breath until you've crossed the entire bridge. They say your wish will come true. Also, if you cross the bridge and walk a little to the side, you'll find the place where lovers place their Eternal Love Locks, French-style, with many promises of love. A few steps away is the Church of the Headless Father. Locals say that a rather relaxed father lived there. It was then that there was an earthquake in Lima long ago, and the hills fell away, leaving him headless. They say they see him walking around thinking at night, and of course, he's headless. And then you continue along the Baños descent, and you see old houses, an old-fashioned, bohemian feel, and you'll find restaurants with excellent dishes, like anticuchos, picarones, and others with delicious à la carte dishes like ceviche... And soon you see the beautiful beach... Don't forget that this path, or the Baños descent, has been traveled since ancient times by ancient Peruvian Indians who lived in Surco Pueblo, where there was an Indian settlement. When you reach the beaches, you still find artisanal fishermen, imagine many years ago. Finally, this Baños descent brings back memories of the Furnicular, which, after paying your ticket, took you to the foot of the ravine; you just crossed the road and enjoyed the beach. A walk along the Baños descent can be a simple workout, a romantic outing, or a trip to the beach with friends and/or family. Enjoy this walk. 😀🌹👻💖

Amankaya is a hidden gem in Lima, offering traditional Criolla Peruvian food with a bit of a challenge to find the entrance. The restaurant serves top-notch dishes like seviche and anticuchos, and the ambiance is cool with great music. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall experience, making it an absolute must-visit for those looking for delicious Peruvian cuisine.
This place was absolutely amazing. We had no wait time and our server Alexa went above and beyond. The food was delicious and fresh. Our waitress Alexa took her time and explained every dish that we had questions about, and she made some great recommendations. I can't wait to visit again and have Alexa as our waitress.

We dined here last night and what an experience. After locating it in a side street behind a gate (just ring the bell) we were greeted warmly by the Maitre De who showed us to a table on the top floor by the Cocktail bar. We ordered two classic Pisco Sours and were blown away by the skills of the Barman and the taste of the Cocktails. Easily the best examples we have found in Peru. We ordered Scallops to share at the recommendation of the waiter and Smoked Risotto with Seafood. Had to be some of the most delicious food I've ever tasted. Finished with a Craft IPA instead of a dessert and that too was delicious. Wonderful experience with a Rock Music theme and soundtrack but played at a suitable volume to allow conversation. Super friendly staff and great ambience. Thoroughly recommended!

We visited this restaurant because it was deemed as one of the best places in the city. When entering there are some days when the main gate to the parking is closed so you have to ring a bell on the gate before you can get there. We were seated quickly and the staff was very friendly. We were there quite early so it was not busy yet. Despite this, it took quite a long time before somebody came to take our order. The appetizer was quite small and not really worth the price. The main dishes were better. The rice tasted very good and the meat of the lomo saltado was fantastic. The restaurant is nicely decorated from the inside, it is good to know that they play rock music quite loud inside. We didn’t really enjoy this. Their cocktails were quite delicious and original and we enjoyed these as well. Certainly a good place to visit for a more luxurious meal.

I had a pleasant dinner on the balcony, watching the cat and the sky. I went there for the fusion nikkei-peruvian dishes, and I ended up going for a Peruvian paella. The only inconvenient was that, as I loved so much the food, I wanted to go back and made a reservation with the hostess when I was leaving the restaurant. However, unfortunately, I was there the next night (exactly at the time of my reservation) for dinner again and it was closed, because they don't open at night on Monday, but I didn't realize that, as my reservation was made by their staff. Anyway, except for this, it was good to try their food.
Gabriela Y — Google review
Looks much better in pictures than in your stomach. Originally showed up at 6:30 and was told to come back at 7pm for dinner service so make a note of that. Ordered the cevigrill and like all the other bad reviews the portion size is super small. Maybe it was cooked well and it just wasn't for me but I didn't really like it. I don't know for sure but I wouldn't recommend it. There is a lot of attention to detail with the drinks so it takes awhile to receive. There was only myself and another guy in the restaurant so it's not like they had a lot to do. The flavor was good but it was mostly ice and rather expensive. Restaurant is located inside a gated area. I was lucky enough that people were exiting as I tried to enter so the door was already open and was no problem for me. I tried opening the door from the outside when I was leaving out of curiosity and couldn't figure it out. The staff was incredibly friendly in my opinion although I didn't have much interaction with them. Overall was a disappointment. Wouldn't recommend and won't return.
Mark G — Google review
This restaurant was a little tricky to find from the street — there isn’t much signage, so you really have to know where you’re going. Once we arrived, we had to ring a doorbell to get in through the gate, which was a bit unusual but worked fine. Better signage outside would definitely help first-time visitors. Inside, the atmosphere felt more like an American bar than a traditional Peruvian restaurant. There were lots of 80s band posters on the walls, which gave it a unique and casual vibe, but it might not be what you expect if you’re looking for a more classic Peruvian dining experience. As for the food, the Lomo Saltado was tasty, but it wasn’t piping hot when it reached the table — it felt like it might have been sitting in the kitchen for a few minutes before being served. The flavor was still good, just not as fresh-off-the-stove as we would have liked. We also tried the Aji de Langostino. The shrimp were well-cooked, but the sauce didn’t taste homemade. It had the texture and flavor of something store-bought rather than freshly prepared. Overall, a decent experience but with room for improvement, especially in presentation and keeping dishes hot.

Crazy delicious!!! Go here! It’s behind a gate but don’t be persuaded. Delicious food. Funky 80s and 90s music. Excellent service! Came here twice!

Amankaya is a hidden gem, though a bit tricky to find—it looks residential, and you’ll need to ring a doorbell to be let in. Once inside, it’s totally worth it! They take American Express, which is convenient. We tried the classic pisco sour, ceviche, and the poached rice dish—all absolutely top notch. Friendly service, good music, and amazing food make this spot a must-visit.

Tasty gelato!! 🍧 I had the Maracumango and Raspberry in a cup. You can sit upstairs and cool down a bit as well. 7/11/2025 I had to come back to my favorite gelato shop. FYI they changed locations. Exceptional gelato with it being our favourite in our 9 day Peru trip. Plenty of flavours both classical and local (16 with 3 vegan), good portions with great prices (3 scoops for 15 soles) and they allow sampling. Strongly recommend. The pineapple sorbet was one of the best fruit sorbets I have ever had. The chocolate, mango and strawberry and blueberry were also amazing.

Their gelato here is so good. They do give samples if you want to try a certain flavor before ordering. We were told the Lucuma gelato is popular. It is made from eggfruit. I was told it tastes like egg and maple syrup. We got a personal size; you can have up to 3 different flavors. We go the milk chocolate hazelnut, coconut and raspberry/blueberry. Every flavor we got was good. Would recommend stopping by for a treat.

Great place for ice cream! Portion is huge for the price. It's actually cheap compared to neighbouring ice cream stores. Personal cup (15 soles) could mix up to 3 flavours and they are generous with ice cream filled above the brim of the cup. Strongly recommend the flavour principessa. Hazelnut chocolate with almonds. There are real nuts and chocolate pieces in it. There are seatings at level 2 and a toilet. Looking at the pictures on Google reviews, they change their flavours frequently so don't expect to have flavours you like when you go or you might be disappointed.

Best gelato ever. Great location and super popular. But that is for a reason - they make all gelatos from scratch. They are all natural flavours, from chocolate to pistachios to berries and fruit. Lots of options to choose from. Also available are non dairy options. We got the mango maracuya (passion fruit) and it was heavenly. The staff was so polite in letting us try different flavours and explained everything before we picked our favourite. Must visit if you are in Lima.

Definitely a must stop if you are around and are not vegetarian or vegan. The other "vísceras" accompanying the Anticuchos were tasty as well, although, the main dish did took over the whole dish.

One of my favorite treats when I’m in Peru is anticuchos. It’s cow hart kabobs. Maybe not be for every taste bud, but it’s worth a try. Anticuchos are usually served together with Picarones. It’s the desert portion of the meal. So don’t forget to order a place. The picarones here were delicious.

Omg. I came here for the famous Anticucho &&& I am so glad I did!! They were so flavorful, so tender & absolutely delicious!!! I enjoyed every bite! I was very surprised at how fool I got from just having two skewers , Yumm, yummm! I also really enjoyed reading the history about this place and the pantalones were really good too.

Located in Miraflores, Lima, the Amano Museum is a renowned destination for those interested in pre-Columbian textile art and archaeological materials. Originally started as the private collection of Yoshitaro Amano, this museum now houses over 600 pieces that showcase Peru's rich textile heritage. Visitors can explore four rooms that trace the evolution of textiles from Chavin to Inca cultures, displaying intricate patterns and techniques.
A not miss museum in Miraflores, Peru. Beautiful exhibit of first class textiles made by the pre columbian civilization of Peru. Expertly curated and presented items tell a story of the creativity and skill of ancient Peruvian civilizations

One of the most amazing museums I've ever been to! The plants alone in the cafe are worth a visit. Make sure to eat their carrot cake there and take notice of the museum pot exhibiting an exotic spotted cat 🐈 as a pet. The textiles obviously are out of this world and the level of fine detail will make you question if truly done by hand!

Well worth visiting with an entrance fee of 35Sol. There are 2 rooms housing historical and cultural textiles and ceramics, displayed clearly and professionally.

We truly enjoyed this museum. All of the artifacts of ancient Peruvian cultures were fascinating and so well procured.

Unmissable museum if you are interested in pre inca and inca history, textiles, and artifacts. Do not miss the stag horn et al. plants in the café and the excellent capuccino. And pass by and appreciate the front garden with the water lillies, papyrus plants and majestic fish. What a treat.

This museum is fabulous! It was very informative and had a fun flow to the way you walk. It was slow when I went so I had all the rooms to myself. The only criticism I have is that I wish the individual pieces had more detail/info available. Definitely worth visiting!

Brilliant museum about 30/35 soles I believe? Really well displayed outlining various cultures across all of peru particularly the North and southern coasts. From nazca to paracas...some incredible finds dating back to 15,000 years. Staff were very welcoming. Museum wasn't particularly busy either which surprised me as it is an incredible museum.

Hotel B is a charming boutique hotel located in the upscale Barranco district of Lima. Housed in a historic Belle Époque mansion, this elegant accommodation offers romantic interiors adorned with funky Peruvian art. The hotel features a formal restaurant, bar, and lounge, as well as a rooftop sundeck with a plunge pool that provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Guests can choose from spacious Atelier rooms with high ceilings, marble bathrooms, and private balconies overlooking the surrounding area.
There's nothing negative to be said about this place. It is on the pricier side however so you get what you pay for. We sat down for a few drinks and pizza at the bar. The service was excellent, barmen were very attentive and the pizza was very tasty. I highly highly recommend ordering cocktails from their peruvian list. Keep up the excellent work!

Excellent space… delicious food, access to coast boardwalk, top cocktails, rooftop bar & artwork over the top. Breakfast is spectacular - close to the best restaurants in Lima too. We recommend this hotel but AI does as well, could not have a bad time here.

We didn’t stay there but frequented the bar during our stay in Lima. Alejandro was the reason we went to the bar every night. His recommendations were great. He also introduced us to some local liquor and curated cocktails as per our liking. Highly recommend going there. The tapas there were delicious too.

Subtle sex throughout the hotel. Don’t go here if you’ll be offended by that. Lovely breakfast, nice afternoon tea. Rooms felt like a boutique hotel experience (the whole building used to be one family is private summer home).

This hotel is a GEM! It is the perfect blend of modern and historic. What a treat when your hotel enhances your vacation in every way. The staff were gracious, the food was delicious (try the Andean eggs), rooms were spacious and thoughtfully appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the building to enjoy the extensive art collection. We highly recommend this hotel-it was on point!

First off Barranco is the perfect spot in Lima if you like a neighborhood feel with lots of walkability, and tons of Cafes, Bars, and Restaurants. Plus Hotel B is in the perfect location. Just off to the side so as not to be in the Buzz but close enough to want to walk everywhere. Staff are lovely. Restaurant and Bar just perfect. 5/5 👍👍

It is obviously a venue for locals to celebrate weddings and special ocassions but too muxh going on inside. Too much events so you feel uncomfortable. Few bathrooms. It is a venue for events.

Hotel B is a standout property in Lima, offering a blend of art, history, and understated luxury in one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. Tucked into the heart of Barranco, Lima’s bohemian district, the hotel is just a short and pleasant walk from the central plaza, the Bridge of Sighs, and a wide array of galleries, cafés, and coastal viewpoints. Its location alone makes it an excellent base for exploring the city’s cultural and culinary offerings. Housed in a restored Belle Époque mansion with a colonial past, the hotel is a Relais & Châteaux property—and that pedigree shows. The layout is elegant and intimate, with high ceilings, dramatic woodwork, and thoughtfully preserved architectural details. A contemporary wing connects seamlessly to the original structure, creating a flowing interior that doubles as an art gallery. The rotating collection of artwork throughout the property gives every hallway and common space a curated, gallery-like atmosphere. Breakfast is a highlight, served in the refined dining room or on the lovely patio, with a selection of fresh juices, pastries, and made-to-order options. One note for guests: the hotel offers an afternoon tea service with a buffet of small bites and desserts, but it does come with an extra charge—something to be aware of when planning your stay. Though Hotel B doesn’t offer extensive amenities like a gym or spa, it more than compensates with its design, atmosphere, and personalized service. Staying here feels like being a guest in a beautifully restored private home—elegant, artful, and truly unique.

Artesanías Las Pallas is a renowned artisan shop in Lima, Peru, that has been promoting traditional folk art for over 25 years. The eclectic collection includes handmade jewelry, carvings, rugs, and more from the coast, mountains, and jungles of Peru. The annual Christmas exhibit offers unique decorations and gifts. The shop is located in a beautiful Republican-style house owned by Mari Solari and features high-quality souvenirs sourced directly from Peruvian artists.
This hidden gem in the middle of Barranco really caught my eye. All the items here are handmade and we were blown away by the quality and unique pieces. Mari was very sweet and explained the history of all the pieces we were interested in. This is a must visit when coming to Lima.

A MUST STOP if in lima peru! Store owner was every friendly and Knowledgeable. She was able to give us details on the artists, styles and where the souvenirs came from. She told us she was probably a little more expensive than the other shops due to the quality, however we did stop at other places and she seemed at par with other places and sometimes less costly. The most important thing to note was that the QUALITY of her items was 100x better than the other places. We stopped at another place after just to compare and there was no comparison. Her place sells authentic souvenirs that are just outstanding. I want to note that I typically don't do reviews but after stopping at her shop I felt like I needed to. It was worth the stop. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

She has a personal connection with everything that is for sale in her shop, and personally selects each product, orchard directly from the producers.

Fantastic little spot to buy authentic, curated, and personally sourced art items. The owner is clearly passionate about her pieces and can speak about where each one came from. We purchased a folk art piece but wanted to walk away with much more. She carefully packaged it up for us to take on the plane. Prices were very reasonable for what she is selling. If the gate is closed, ring the bell so her dog doesn’t get out. Skip the tourist markets, you can be sure this is the real thing.

A variety of artisan products: pottery, textiles, and much more. Make sure to ring the doorbell (if the gate is closed, that doesn't mean the store is). The owner is a British woman who will happily tell you about each item and it's origins.

The best shopping in Lima for unique handmade items. I could have spent two hours there. Lots of little rooms filled with the beautifully curated works of different local artists. Nothing touristy, just beautiful one of a kind artwork, textiles and jewelry by emerging Peruvian artists. Also there is a beautiful cafe in the courtyard. A must visit!

One of the best gift shops I’ve ever been to: a great place to pick up unique upmarket goods by Peruvian designers and craftspeople. A must for discerning shoppers! I absolutely loved my visit here and ended up getting some unique jewelry. You can easily spend multiple hours looking at all the rooms, so plan accordingly if you love to shop/browse. The shop includes homewares, clothing, a jewelry room, stationary, toys and kids items, a small selection of foods, and even a courtyard cafe with bonsai trees for sale. Service is second to none. Associates will take your selections to the cashier while you continue to shop. Beautiful gift wrap is included with all purchases on request. Some reviews have mentioned that perhaps some of the craft items are cheaper elsewhere. That may be the case, but there are a lot of brands I didn’t see elsewhere and everything is of the highest quality and carefully curated. Don’t miss this store to check off your gift list for the year!

Amazing place to visit and browse through their different rooms. Fabulous art, handcrafts and alpaca-wool clothing & a beautiful café in a leafy courtyard at the back that's hidden from the main street. It's like visiting a museum, for free, but you can buy some really nice souvenirs.

Nestled in the heart of Lima, Friendship Park, or Parque de la Amistad, is a delightful oasis that promises unforgettable moments for families and friends alike. This picturesque park boasts a stunning Moorish-inspired arch adorned with vibrant tile mosaics, serving as its centerpiece. Spanning nearly thirty thousand square meters, it features winding walking paths that meander through lush greenery and tranquil ponds. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls while soaking in the serene atmosphere or find cozy spots to relax amidst leafy trees.
This place is not that big. But big enough to pass a good time. Have a theatre, a small train going around , a beautiful arch that is Spanish ottoman architecture, some beautiful fountains, lots of different birds, a museum, benches, coffee shops and entertainment for kids, is free entrance, I went for a walk with my father like doing some shopping and we were lost at this wonderful place. Highly recommend to spend some time in here.

Canta Ranita is a hidden gem located in a district market, known for its charming atmosphere adorned with family portraits and soccer-themed decor. Despite being slightly off the beaten path, this eatery offers exceptional ceviche dishes such as the Guardia Imperial, featuring fresh fish ceviche topped with grilled octopus and avocado slices. While prices may be higher than average and service is moderate, the quality of the meals makes it a popular choice among locals.
Heard Peru has the best ceviche in the world? CORRECT. No joke, this place has some of the best ceviche on the planet. The price is right, the portions are humongous, and the atmosphere is something that cant be replicated, though often tried, elsewhere. Located near the touristy area of barranco, this place is a little tucked away in a back-alley market, but the reputation runs deep, and the secret is definitely out. I didn't have to wait very long to get a seat, but maybe i just got lucky. I can see this place being VERY busy at lunch time, so arrive early and absolutely don't miss out on the mountain of fish they offer. I had my lunch with a glass of beer, but as i recall, they also have non-alcoholic options. The owners of the bar are apparently from Argentina, and are well traveled. The walls are adorned with relics of their places-passed, and their love of football (soccer). Definitely a MUST-EAT when visiting Lima. The entire area is a charming place to be and a great place to soak in a little culture.

This was exactly what I was looking for! Tucked away in the back corner of a small market, Canta Ranita had amazing ceviche and grilled octopus. I don’t usually like fish, but the fish (maybe tuna?) in the ceviche mixto had perfectly absorbed the great flavor of the leche de tigre and was very tender. I asked for medium spicy and it was the perfect level for me (you can order a side of the salsa aji if you want more spice). The pulpo a la plancha was also good and a generous portion. The atmosphere is top notch, especially if you want to avoid super touristy places.

Absolute favorite place in Lima. The food is incredible, fresh and so tasty. We really felt like we had a cool local experience. It's.a bit hidden / tucked away, and they're very popular but worth queuing for. Highly recommend

This was amazing! Such an incredible vibe in the place. Good selection of items within the menu and incredibly friendly. If you want to live an authentic mercado experience, go here. I would have loved to order everything. We got grilled octopus, mixed ceviche, fish chicharrón and some fresh mussels… everything incredible. Go early as there is typically a queue. They also have nice music in. It can be slow service, but it’s worth it.

I think their ceviche is worth the hype! We got lucky, had no wait and fast service. It’s not cheap but it was delicious and fresh
Brittany T — Google review
Tuck in a small corner among all the small businesses, away from the main road. Not easy to find. But once you did some "hide & seek" (Google map will help) you'll be able to find this eatery. I like this kind of small eatery because that's where you'll find good stuff which we did! The servers are super friendly, even though none of us speak Spanish.. They tried their best to communicate with us using very very limited English. Good effort for that. They are so friendly and approachable that even before the food came, we had became friends with them. Guardian imperial (Ceviche) was the bomb! The grilled octopus was abit too Chewy to my liking but the fish was tasty really fresh. Whole dish was so refreshing. Do order their Chicha morada, super refreshing on a hot afternoon. Overall, the whole dining experience does not loose to a Michelin restaurant and you paid a fraction of a price. Kudos to the Venezuela waitress who was always smiley checking on us how was our dining experience. 5 🌟!
Matthew H — Google review
One of the best ceviche spot with a good variety. If you don’t like onion or cilantro then maybe this isn’t for you as they’re heavy on both ingredients for their dishes. Bottle of wine was also reasonable priced, the only downside if the lack of water. Then, again that’s a norm in Peru.

La Lucha is a popular chain of restaurants in Lima, known for its delicious and generously filled sandwiches. With multiple locations, including one at the Lima airport, it's easily accessible to tourists. The menu features a variety of sandwiches with options like Pavo a la Lina (chicken and onion) and Chicharron (crispy pork), all served on freshly made bread with flavorful sauces.
Perfectly located in el Óvalo Gutiérrez, La Lucha is a very well known place for having Peruvian sandwiches. A very small place, with some high seats, looking at the roundabout. I had the chicharrón sandwich with chicha morada and it was very tasty. The sandwich had a good balance between chicharrón, camote, and zarza. The chicha was very refreshing. It is always a pleasure to come back here.

I order lechon sandwich and it was raw and cold. I asked for another and they messed up my order, they brought me a turkey. The 3rd time, again they brought me lechon that was raw and pink. I told them to cancel the order and called the manger over his name was Dani ojeada. He proceeded to return me my money and give a sandwich on the house for the inconvenience. If it was for the manger I would walked off mad. Thank you Dani for making it right. But if I never called him over to talk. Nothing would of been done. If he didn’t make it right I would gave them 1 star. He made it right. But I had to ask to speak to speak to the manger. The only Customer service I’ve seen in Peru to be honest.

When hankering for a sandwich, this will likely do the trick. Hamburger with fried egg, grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, papas fritas, Pilsen and chicha morada, all for $58 Soles. It was all good, with the exception of the chica morada, they don't make it there and frankly, it is not worth your soles. The staff was friendly, very "English" oriented, but all in all, it's really just a sandwich shop. I would prefer to have a more local culinary experience, but if you want predictable "English" fare... this will do.

La Posada del Angel III is a charming bar nestled in the vibrant Barranco district, where history and art come together beautifully. Adorned with an eclectic mix of antiques and angel statues, this venue offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for intimate conversations. From 10 pm to 2 am, talented guitarists serenade guests with Latin American classics, enhancing the laid-back vibe.
Really cool building in the heart of Barranco. Drinks are well priced and tasty, and the workers were super friendly and welcoming. The antique furniture is so relaxing. It feels like you’re visiting a historical old house. Also, they have a nice cat you can enjoy your drinks with. Recommend!!!

Ordered the Tocino Del Cielo desert (Flan). It was a stale cake of some kind that was hard with syrup added on top. 2 stars for being pet friendly and friendly staff but 1 star for food.
Nitin M — Google review
Love the ambience- quieter than all the loud bars in the area with a lot of neat seating areas and antiques to check out. Bartender was also very friendly and helpful
Veronica O — Google review
Live music from Ricardo Linares was amazing! The bar itself had a welcoming atmosphere, with open tables as well as some tucked into corners, and lots of Angels in every art form, everywhere... The hot chocolate was great, and my friend said that her chocolate con pisco was also very tasty.

Nestled in the vibrant district of Barranco, the Electricity Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Peru's electrical history. This charming little museum is dedicated to showcasing the evolution of electricity, featuring exhibits on Lima's historic electric streetcars and various methods of power generation. Visitors can explore an array of restored equipment, including vintage appliances like ham radios and Wurlitzer jukeboxes.
Not much inside, but it's free and has some cool interactive stuff.
Ice W — Google review
This is a small, well kept museum with the story of electrical generation, substation equipment, transformers and other electric devices. Free entry, offering wonderful exhibits of restored equipment and a variety of electric appliances including ham radios, two "Wurlitzer Rocolas" and an operating trolley. It is a great place for kids and the trolley ride is fun. The trolley rails need to be repaired and Barranco should seriously get a fund raiser to fix them. Also, people who live along the track right-of-way should have the common sense not to park on the tracks. It ruins the ride for everyone.
Jim M — Google review
A small museum but it is truly a must see. You learn about different ways to produce electricity and the history of electricity in Peru. There are interactive exhibits that are great for kids. We went with our toddler and he had a great time. All the information is in Spanish so you may want to go with someone who speaks Spanish if you don't.
John C — Google review
No charge to see this although everything is in Spanish it is still very good interesting and one can learn something new. Close to municipal park
Alnoor — Google review
Fantastic free little museum. Kids will love trying to light the bulbs by cycling on the exercise bike and adults will feel nostalgic by playing records on the old Wurlitzer juke box. When the Tesla coil is working, this is an incredible museum.
Tim F — Google review
This Electricity Museum is free of charge, but here with not much to see. The museum is all about electricity in this city, however, most of their exhibition are broken and not working. And their display are all in Spanish and nothing in English. During the visit, do not miss the old tram in the opposite of the street, it's a good place for photos

Ice cream shop
The popular ice cream shop Curich Cremoladas is always busy during the summertime, with people lining up for their delicious cremoladas. The place can be a bit congested, so it's best to visit in the morning or afternoon when the crowds are smaller.
Outstanding place. Tony, the owner, is fantastic. We had a blast talking with him since we stopped by three times during our stay in Miraflores, Lima. We have been to Lima 5 times in the last 6 yes and always saw the place but never stopped by. Now, we are a daily frequent-stopper every time we are in Lima. We stay on the street beside it, so we have to pass by every time go to the supermarket, to eat, or to go to Praça Kennedy. Everyone should stop by if you are in Lima. It is one block from the Parque dos Amores and the parapente, where you can pay to fly over the Costa Verde. Thanks Tony for the memorable experience. Rio de Janeiro/Brasil family thanks you.
William B — Google review
Delicious! I've had the strawberry slushy (classic) and the chocolate and vanilla slushies (with milk). All were great, definitely recommended. If you come here on a warm weekend evening, expect there to be a long line (one to pay, then the other to get your slushy). A cooler weekday afternoon and you might be the only one there.
Balooko31 — Google review
I had to ask my friends why they have never taken me here before... It's like the best slushy you will ever have and they are all wonderful flavors. Go there, get half raspberry and half mango, you will thank me! Edit: 9/23/2023 Best Strawberry Slushy Ever!!!!

A popular spot in the summer time - especially for their cremoladas, but some juices are also nice. Parking is a problem, so best to walk here.

Amazing!! It's unbelievable the quantity of different fruits you can find in this place!! From the coast to the jungle!! Natural flavor, not chemical ingredients added and they offer very delightful desserts!! Love it!

Great little place. The consistency of the dessert is between ice cream and slush. The taste was amazing. I'd give it a 5 stars if the prices were lower.
Joe L — Google review
By going with the popularity of the place during summer time there could be a medium to long queue. Cremoladas are something new to me. It's like an iced juice or a semi-frozen smoothie. My favourite is Lucuma (free taste is very similar to Sapodilla).

Iglesia La Ermita in Barranco is a historic church dating back to the 19th century, featuring rustic adobe and thatch construction. Situated at the end of the Bridge of Sighs, it stands as an iconic landmark in the area. Despite its now-crumbling roof and unusable state due to lack of restoration, it holds great significance as the first cathedral in Barranco, built in 1750.
It’s designated as a World Monument in 2016 😎😎😎 despite its current state of disrepair, brought about by a devastating earthquake in 1940. The WM designation is a tribute to its historical and local folklore significance to the origin of Lima’s Barranco Borough as a fishing village. Originally built in the 1870s, the neo-Gothic building of the Hermitage apparently underwent several reconstructions from destructions due to the War of the Pacific in the 1880s followed by natural disasters culminating in the 1940 earthquake. It has closed to the public since 1960. Emergency repairs have been going on since then. As it stands since its WM designation, the roof is in very bad shape. IRONICALLY, the roof especially the “barebones” of the belfry looks so eerily pleasing 😎😎😎 as though it’s the ruins of a medieval castle. It looks the home or favorite sunning spot of a flock of huge vultures (gallinazos). —- IF EVER reconstruction re-starts perhaps the architects might just reinforce the belfry and, for aesthetics or artistic reimagination, leave the open skeleton-like structure of it??
A ( — Google review
Plenty of vultures nesting in here. There have been some recent renovation efforts since late 2024 and it seems it will recover some of its former glory.
Bruno A — Google review
Closed since the 1974 earthquake that caused the roof to collapse, the Ermita de Barranco church still displays a nice facade (which gets regularly repainted every few years and is well kept) but is a bit of an eerie sight from the sight as it lays in ruins. It obviously no longer functions as a church, but rather serves as a reminder of the power of natural disasters and nature in general, as it is now a nesting place for so many birds.
Niccolo' B — Google review
Lots of birds on the crumbling roof creating an eerie, desolate feeling. Love!
Keira C — Google review
Great place to visit and walk around at dusk, close to the water to see the sunset. Great photo opts all around the church. Very interesting neighborhood with great looking restaurants and boutique hotels. We needed to spend more time in this area.
Susan P — Google review
Could be nice if they renovated it.
Dennis L — Google review
History of the Father without a Head. The story tells that in XIX, the church was occupied by a priest of bad tendencies, bad character and a visibly disordered life, generating antipathy in the parishioners. A strong earthquake ocurred in Lima that caused one of the domes to collapse and the steel bell to fall on the priest s head, crushing it and leaving only a blood stain and bones scattered in the area. As in life he was evil, they say that God imposed on him as a punishment to wander forever without his head. They say the neighbors of the place that continues to suffer and they see him at night walking whith his habit but without a head.

Coffee shop
El Cacaotal is a chocolate tasting room and boutique founded by American expat Amanda Jo Wildey in 2016. Located in Lima, Peru, this shop offers an extensive selection of Peruvian chocolates sourced from individual farmers and producers. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of chocolate, learning about its origins, manufacturing process, and the artisans behind each bar. The shop also gained recognition for offering a guided tasting of its 'library' of single-origin and bean-to-bar Peruvian chocolates.
Camelia and Alan were great. Camelia explained the coffee I chose and made it a fun experience. She also explained the differences in coffee from various regions. Alan spent a lot of time with me going over chocolates and cultures, he was very knowledgeable. Thank you!
Kateri S — Google review
Loved this place - AJ and Jennifer were so helpful, the chocolate tasting was really unique and a great experience, and love the way they had the full stories behind each bar of small-batch Peruvian chocolate. Coffee was exceptional as well, and such a nice cafe downstairs.
James H — Google review
I must say, there are few coffee shops treating their craft as professionally as El Cacaotal, Jennifer, responsible for the pour overs, came over and offered proactively a second cup to me as the original cup she prepared wasn't up to her standards (it was to mine). That what made the coffee stand out here. Not only the quality of the beans, but also how those guys treat their craft !
Kamil N — Google review
Great place to learn about chocolate. It is owned by an American with a PhD on chocolate. They have huge real cocoa on display, which is cool to see and hold. The chocolate selection was good, but they were all commercially packaged chocolate. Tips: There are more chocolate stores in town, such as inside the Dedalo, Ukaw official store, and inside Flora & Fauna supermarket in Barranco.
Jev G — Google review
My husband is a coffee enthusiast/one could say snob and I am a chocolate lover. So, we knew that we couldn't go to Peru and not try and track down some of their best coffee and chocolate (especially given their reputation for these 2 entities). Hence, we set off on doing our research and landed at El Cacaotal. Please stop here! We promise- you won't be disappointed! My husband ended up getting a limited batch of Peruvian coffee, which is said is "incredible and bursting with flavour." The chocolate is also fabulous! We received incredible service while we were there. Someone explained all of the chocolate/the regions/the flavour profiles. If you are looking for chocolate or coffee- you should definitely give them a try!
Marissa A — Google review
The coffee was good but I was disappointed that the chocolate here is priced higher than other places to buy it. Staff in the chocolate section weren’t very helpful so it was a bit disappointing. The coffee is really amazing though so I still recommend it!
Reagan B — Google review
Beautiful collection of chocolates. They divide the chocolates into sections, based on where the beans are sourced from - northern, central or southern Peru. The explanations from the team were helpful, and you can look at the different taste profiles of the different cacao beans in the display. Just in case you couldn’t find the shop like me initially, it sits right above a fantastic coffee roaster’s/cafe Ciclos.
J K — Google review
Great spot with fantastic service. They source the top chocolate and coffee from Peru and ensure it's ethically sourced as well. The owner is an expert in the field and has been working with Peruvian chocolate for a long time. The employees were extremely kind and helpful and made some delicious hot chocolates. There are multiple varieties you can choose from and a great cafe space to sit and relax.

Nice outdoor space. The food is not too bad, only 3 things off the menu were available when we went which was a bit of a shame. Lots of pisco based drinks. Particularly pretty and busier at night!

Horrible food! It was like a cheap touristy food place but with American prices! The extremely rude waitress told us that the chairs were for reserved tables only leaving us eating standing up, after paying an 80dollar tab in 2 small appetisers and 2 drinks. i found it outrageous! The reserved tables remained empty the whole time. The place was crowded and too loud to talk at all…we left extremely disappointed
Sonia V — Google review
It had a seemingly nice vibe but as the night progressed, it became bland and boring. We (party of 5) were stopped at the door and had to wait for entry for security reasons but they just let smaller groups in without any problems. About 20 people of smaller groups were let in before us which ticked me off. As a visitor from NY, I had high hopes for this place because it was recommended by a friend but left extremely disappointed. Needless to say, I’ll be bringing my business elsewhere moving forward.
Paulshizzle — Google review
Train your front door people, asking from reservations when place is empty? Call you "papi" ... I've been many times there and first time I had experienced that, it sucks!
Pino B — Google review
I got sick from the patatas bravas which had a mayo that was off and the oil tasted extremely old. The drink was overpriced and there was no atmostphere.

This place was so much better when it was mochileros as they had live bands and a good vibe.

Discrimination Alert!!! Victoria Barranco staff discriminated against my Peruvian friend and wouldn't let him in because "of how he was dressed" (he was wearing shorts and a polo shirt) when everyone inside was dressed exactly the same. They had no problem letting in American tourists with the same attire. We would not recommend anyone come here again.
Mariano C — Google review
The front door staff will discriminate against you. We were 2 Peruvians, 1 American, and 1 Vietnamese person. The 2 Peruvians spoke to the staff in Spanish to better communicate with them. They looked at my boyfriend up and down (he was wearing jeans and a "Texas" t-shirt), and they decided to say that they were "full". The entire place was empty. We would never come to this place and I recommend that you don't either. It's a shame that locals who work here discriminate against their own people and visitors.

Solid little park in Barranco. Expect to find many vendors all around the walkways. Many of the craft makers will have beautiful displays that are worth a visit, but also expect to be approached by some people who sell things without a booth. The park itself has many benches and is great for spending relaxation time. The nearby art helps a lot, too.

Beautiful park in Baranco, I loved getting a pastry from the bakery and having my breakfast at the park. The evenings there were wonderful as well when you’ll see many people flock to the park for a stroll around the park, shooting videos and photos. A small park facing the bridge of sighs and the destroyed church of La Ermita. You can see the bronze statue of Peruvian singer Chabuca Granda, who wrote the 1960 ballad Puente de los Suspiros. Maria Isabel Granda Larco (3 September 1920 – 8 March 1983), better known as Chabuca Granda, was a Peruvian singer and composer. She created and interpreted a vast number of Criolo waltzes  with Afro Peruvian   rhythms. The adjacent horseman is Jose Antonio de Lavalle y Garcia, a Peruvian agronomist who was a personal friend of Eduardo Granda and his daughter, Chabuca Granda, who, after Lavalle died in 1957, wrote him the famous  criollo waltz Jose Antonio.
