Schloss Drachenburg is a 19th-century villa that resembles a medieval castle and offers stunning views of the Rhine valley. It was built between 1882 and 1884 by Baron Stephan von Sarter, drawing inspiration from the romantic architecture of medieval castles along the Rhine River. The design incorporates Neo-Gothic, Romanesque, and Renaissance elements.
Beautiful castle, phenomenal views, friendly staff at the ticket office, on the Drachenfelsbahn and at the castle. The castle has been beautifully maintained and is in pristine condition. I particularly loved the stained glass and how each section gave one the opportunity to step back in time, surrounded by so much history. The gardens are also perfectly manicured, lovingly maintained and give one a sense of peace. A truly awesome experience

What a gorgeous castle. We stopped in on our way to Cologne. The little train tram was fun. The many stained glass windows were so cool. The little cafe was good, we got tea and coffee and snacks. Views were amazing.
K H — Google review
A truly beautiful castle, high in the mountains, you either need to walk 40 minutes up a steep slope, or buy a ticket for a small train for 10 euros. Entrance to the castle costs 10 euros, you can buy it at the castle itself, you have access to the area around the castle and the castle itself, there are free toilets, places to eat and a restaurant, there are a lot of people. I advise you to carefully review the route in advance.
Sofia M — Google review
Went on a weekend, through the funicular costs 12 euro for adults and 6 euro for kids, better to buy combi tickets if you are visiting with family. The castle 🏰 was maintained well, and entry cost 10 euro for adults and 8 euro for kids. The Rhine river was so beautiful from the castle. A must visit place if you're visiting near colonge and Bonn.
Aravinth — Google review
Truly a beautiful place to visit, the view from atop is stunning and the inside is just as nice as outside. For the price of 10 euro it's definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Getting there is a bit harder you can walk what we did but the road is very steep tho doable. there is also a train that goes up a 2 way ticket costs 12 euros (1 way ticktet costs 10)
Collin B — Google review
This was such an amazing place to explore! The history was well described through the placards in German and English, and the app guide added a bit through audio. Lots of notes throughout the rooms, thorough explanations, and incredible views.
Leah D — Google review
It was wonderful holidays in Drachenburg Schloss. A have already visited a lot of castles and palaces in Germany and this one was one the best: amazing views, incredible architecture, beautiful interiors 🤩 The staff here was polite and helpful, thank you so much ☺️ You need approximately 3 hours for this place: to look everything, to walk around and to make photos 📷. ❗️This place, of course, deserves you time to visit it.
Aleksey B — Google review
Beautiful castle. The view of river Rhine from the castle windows and balconies are magnificent. It also has paintings from the Romantic Rhine category. You can also climb up the castle tower. It has a great view. Worth the hype

The hill offers stunning views and is surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Visitors can also enjoy dining at various restaurants in Koenigswinter, offering diverse cuisines and dining experiences.
Wonderful place to be for an escape from a busy week. The view of the river from the hill top is magnificent along with centuries old history of the ruined castle.
Sarang G — Google review
A beautiful place with a nice overlooking view. There are two ways to reach the castle ruins: you can either hike up or take the oldest cogwheel railway in Europe. Both options offer a great experience.
PinkFluffyBanana — Google review
Unbelievable, If you are in the area you have to see it! Great views and a great hike or train ride.
Bill K — Google review
It’s a beautiful castle. But it’s small on the inside just 2 floors and a little tower on the side so ur done pretty quickly. And for the price €25 for a family ticket it’s pricey.
Linn R — Google review
It‘s definitely worth a visit, the place is nice and spacious. We chose to go up with the tram mainly because of the children but i would recommend to take the trail hiking up instead. It was cold and windy sitting outside (for a snack/beer/coffee/ Curry Wurst, .etc) but then you get the beautiful Sunset view.

Nice route for running or alternatively taking the cog railway, which is also a great experience for the little ones. Burgruine Drachenfels is a historic castle with beautiful ruins located on top of a hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding areas including Bonn and the Rhein. Visitors can find information texts in both German and English. It's recommended to visit in conjunction with the tram ride or for those who are up for a workout, climbing the hill is an option.
A very beautiful place! Must visit if you are around Bonn or Köln! 💯 It's easy to go up by the 140 year old cogwheel train and hiking downhill is a great option. The Drachenfels schloss is also very pretty, but needs a separate ticket
Harshita K — Google review
Loved the walk up to the summit instead of getting the cable car. Highly recommended, you don't need to be super fit to walk up.
Frank F — Google review
These are the beautiful ruins of Drachenfels castle. The place is quite literally mobbed on weekends - especially during the summer months.
E K — Google review
Beautiful ruins of the historic castle found on the top of the hill, absolutely stunning views of the surrounding areas, including Bonn and the Rhein. Information texts found in both German and English. Would recommend the visit in conjunction with the tram (€10pp for ride up OR down, and €12 for the round trip), or if you're brave enough for a heavy workout, climb the hill
Nathan T — Google review
Amazing place to go hiking. It takes almost 1.5 hrs to treck right from Bad Honnef right on top. Amazing view of Königswinter, Bad Honnef and Bonn.

(Translated by Google) Absolutely beautiful and fantastic hiking and recreation area. Unfortunately, the hiking trails are very poorly marked and you run the risk of suddenly finding yourself, illegally, in the middle of a nature reserve. The mountains can easily be hiked from north to south in one day. Due to the many varied paths, you can probably pursue your wanderlust there for weeks without visiting one place twice. The landscape is very clean and almost free of tourist rubbish. Here and there there is a handkerchief or a face mask lying around, but thank God that is very limited. So please take your rubbish with you, or don't litter there in the first place.

(Translated by Google) I'm a regular hiker in the Siebengebirge, and it never gets boring. Sometimes I go up to the Drachenfels with its fantastic view of the Rhine, sometimes to the Petersberg, or simply through the forests around the Ölberg. There are countless paths, from short strolls to full-on hikes, and each time you discover something new. I particularly like the fact that you're so close to Bonn and Cologne, yet you immediately feel like you've escaped everyday life. Sure, it can be busier on sunny weekends, but if you venture off the beaten track for a bit, you'll quickly find some peace and quiet. For me, it's one of the most beautiful places in the region—highly recommended for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Winzerhäuschen is located in Kobern-Gondorf, just 300 meters from the River Moselle and 25 km from Koblenz. The property offers a terrace with views of the town, castle, and vineyards. It is also close to the 13th-century castles of Niederburg and Oberburg. The restaurant at Winzerhäuschen offers indoor and outdoor dining options, making it a popular choice for friends and family gatherings.
Located just off Castle Drachenburg, this restaurant offers great food. We ordered 3 dishes which turned out to be great. Really enjoyed the chicken dish. It's always a nice touch that the restaurant gave my two young kids some colouring sets to keep them occupied while we await for our dishes.

Lovely spot for lunch when visiting the castle. Beautiful views. Large amount of outdoor and indoor seating. Food was good. Staff is friendly and quick. Great prices considering it is a touristy area. If you’re considering eating here or at the castle, strongly recommend here. Atmosphere and food is much better at this restaurant!

The restaurant is very nice, very warm and cozy atmosphere with beautiful background music. The food was great, very customer friendly staff. I highly recommend to spend a lunch either with your family or loved one or before going to the Schloss.

Very nice restaurant with a great terrace which offers a beautiful view. We stoped here for a quick lunch (tomato soup and spinach flammkuchen) before going to the castle, and it was wonderful. The staff was welcoming and the decor is warm and cosy. The food was delicious and the prices very reasonable. Highly recommended 👍

Visited on: 28/10/2023 around 16h We found the place by accident by walking around the nice castle. Nice clean restaurant with great views on the rhine. Friendly staff and very good in what they do. Ordered the house burger! Great burger nice and juicy and I have to say a great homemade sauce! Congrats for the chef! Sometimes you don't need to write a big review if the food talks for itself! Keep it going! You deserve it! 5* quality from this reviewer!

Its a wonderful place, the staff is courteous and food good. What really is nice is that the prices are moderate even though they are at a very touristic place. The Menu is not extensive but whatever is there is done really well. We tried their Flammkuchen which was really well done, Käsespätzle was wonderful, only let down to an extent was Kaiserschmarrn which was a bit too sweet. The cappucino was Italian style ( a samller cup) and strong. Not the typical huge cup with too much milk. Overall based on location, quality of food and staff and the prices its certainly a five star place.

I'd especially like to highlight the friendly and attentive staff, who make the visit even more pleasant. The beer garden itself is cozy, with plenty of seating and a relaxed atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Ideal for families, hikers, or train passengers looking for a quick snack on the way to Drachenfels or back. Embarking on a scenic drive northwest, after about a 2-hour journey, we arrived at Drachenfelsstrasse in Konigswinter. We found ample parking available for a reasonable daily rate of 4. However, the parking machines proved to be somewhat temperamental and did not accept credit cards.
