Anundshög, located in Västerås, Sweden, is a significant historical site from the Late Iron Age and one of the country's largest burial mounds. This ancient marvel has a diameter of 60 meters and stands at a towering height of approximately 9 meters. While its construction era is debated, radiocarbon dating suggests it was built between AD 500 and 1050.
The largest gravemound in Sweden with additional smaller mounds and stone ship graves, also a beautiful rune stone. The area is well kept with several information plaque s. A large free parking space close by. A good choice for a visit among ancient grave sites.

Anundshög is a monumental burial mound dating back to the Iron Age (~500–700 CE) located in Västerås, Sweden. It stands 9 meters tall and 64 meters wide—believed to be the resting place of a powerful chieftain or king.
Rezwan I — Google review
Anundshög (also Anundshögen and Anunds hög) is a tumulus near Västerås in Västmanland, the largest in Sweden. It has a diameter of 60 metres (200 ft) and is about 9 metres (30 ft) high. Assessments of the era of the mound vary between the Bronze Age and the late Iron Age. A fireplace under it has been dated by radiocarbon dating to sometime between AD 210 and 540. Some historians have associated the mound with the legendary King Anund, while others regard this as speculative. It is purported also that the name is taken from the large runestone at the site, (Vs 13) the central stone in a row of 15 alongside the mound, re-erected in the 1960s and apparently marking out the route of the Eriksgata. At the foot of the mound are 2 large stone ships placed end to end, 51 metres (167 ft) and 54 metres (177 ft) long. The site was a thing-place and the ship settings may be associated with this function.

Neat area to walk around with informational plaques in Swedish and English. Awesome view of the stones from the top of the mound.
Brian L — Google review
This place is an archaeological site for doing research activities. This place consists of people who were burried more than 1000 years ago.On April 30th,2022 there was a festival conducted here.We went to see the programme here. Overall this is a nice place to take good amount of photography. There were 2 small hills near to the stones.Children were playing on the hills. As a tourist ,you can witness the stones being beautifully placed in the shape of 8 when you see the view from the hill top. There is a small café near to this place.
Monisha R — Google review
One more place out of my list. The place deserves a bit more love but overall it was really amazing being there.
Pardalis G — Google review
Always a good stop off with the kids for exploring the mounds, some play and a snack. There is a well stocked play area and the open grass spaces and picnic tables allow for keeping an eye on the kids while having a sit down. The mounds themselves are great and the view from the top of the biggest mound is recommended. This place is not weather dependent and I think equally fantastic in winter as in summer (although somewhat more limited in activities) keep an eye out for events such as valborg.

Nestled within a historic steam power station, Kokpunkten Actionbad in Vasteras, Sweden, is an exhilarating indoor water park that offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure. Spanning eight floors, this vibrant facility features everything from lazy rivers and paddling pools to thrilling slides illuminated by funky lighting. Whether you're seeking adrenaline-pumping excitement or a tranquil escape with family and friends, Kokpunkten caters to all ages.
wonderful. From the moment of arrival and the kind treatment of the employees to the moment of leaving, everything is neat, clean, and excellent A lovely experience that I will repeat again and again. I wish you were in Stockholm and I could use your good service every day.
Arash S — Google review
Cool place but tends to be way to crowded. Sometimes so that you wonder how many are actually allowed inside at the same time. Ques can be long but move relatively fast. The biggest negative is that they don't allow you to bring your own food. The food they serve is not great but not bad either, but it would be nice to be able to choose between theirs and your own.
Johan F — Google review
I have a 9-year old and a 6-year old. They loved it and went on all the slides except the single rubber ring one (despite seeing some small kids do it, I went on it and thought it was pretty terrifying!). The kids loved the whirlpool at the end of the ground floor pool too. Will definitely be back!
Jim G — Google review
Exciting architecture, really something outstanding. Of course it can become a bit crowded, but obviously this is not the place where you go for a relaxing swim. Water and ambient temperature were fine, personnel friendly and attentive. The one big nuisance is the parking space: It is operated by a shady company which issues instructions only in Swedish, requires you to install an app, register with a lot of personal details and pay by credit card. And while you're going through all of this, they sneak up to your car and give you a 500 SEK fine for 5 minutes! This really spoils the whole experience. 😞
Alex G — Google review
This place has potential, but there are several issues. Not all rides were open and visits are limited to fixed time slots, even though you pay the full price. The promise of cheaper online tickets is misleading, as in reality you pay extra when buying at the counter. The pool designs is questionable, with ''hidden'' steps that make slipping and injuries likely. It’s very slippery overall, so slippers are a must. While it's nicer than some other places, it still feels pretty expensive. Worth if you're staying for the spa.
Melli W — Google review
Absolutely recommend. You have everything your heart desires. From fun slides,to baby pools and a special section apecial for adults with a bar and calm environment. And for the price you get a lot. We had a whole day of fun there.
Queendevena — Google review
I have to give an honest review. This place gives the impression that it's some sort of cool adventure waterpark....it is not. It's a swimming pool with a few slides. Some of the "attractions" were shut down (The Double Racer and the Aqua Cinema). The "Wall" in the beginning had so many grips missing it was impossible to actually climb it to be able to enjoy it. They didn't have enough tubes so people were standing around at the bottom waiting. I even saw some adults trying to take tubes from children. The lines are long and they close down certain slides during certain times which makes no sense, which causes even longer lines. They only have TWO VR headsets at a time for the "underwater experience" which is insane considering how many people are there. The VR for the slides is "ok" but its very outdated, it reminded me of when VR first came out not to mention you have to pay to even use the headsets every time you use them! For the price it's SUPER overpriced it's not fair that we were charged full price for a park that wasn't fully functional. The only thing that was actually cool was the Boomerang, altho ride with caution, I slammed my backside and legs on it.
Nicole — Google review
We visited Kokpunkten, but were very disappointed with the lack of communication. Nowhere on the start webpage, during the booking process, or upon arrival were we informed that one of the waterslide — the main reason for our visit — was out of service. Even at check-in and at the entrance, there was no information about this. As a result, only one slide remained available for our daughter and her friend. We raised our concerns at the time, but were not offered any discount or compensation. Staff took our phone number and email and said we would be contacted regarding compensation. It has now been two months, and we have still not heard back. This has been very poorly handled.

Västerås Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 16th century, is famous for the 1527 Parliamentary decision that made Sweden a Protestant country. Originally constructed around 1200 and later rebuilt by King Gustav Vasa in the mid-1500s, it served as a defensive structure. Today, it houses a small museum offering insights into local heritage and culture. Despite its unimpressive exterior, the castle provides an interesting introduction to the area's rich history.
Pretty site..feel calm and refreshing..best for walking around
Joshi P — Google review
This castle is very old, from the beginning, in 12th century, only an administrative and prison building. Early on the Swedish kings established here. As the north hills of Västerås were found to be very mineral rich, it became the shipping harbour of ore, and the castle expanded to a squared castle like building. But to be honest, not very interesting.

I was here with my company for a Christmas Dinner. The food was okay, but the place it self was not anything special. Maybe it was because of the way they had the tables setup for the buffet.

Good place for a walk around into traditional Swedish lifestyle. They've preserved some of the farmer equipment from old times. It has a free entry. There's also a word museum reciting forgotten Swedish words. You can witness live cattle like different types of goats, rabbits, duck, goose and horses.

Vallby Open Air Museum: A Five-Star Journey Through Time! 🕰️🌟💖 Vallby Open Air Museum is an absolute must-visit and easily earns a five-star rating! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Located in Västerås, this sprawling museum (4.4-star rating) offers a unique and immersive look into the cultural history of Västmanland county. Since 1921, the museum has painstakingly rescued and rebuilt over fifty historical buildings, creating a living village that spans from the 1600s to the late 1900s. As you wander through the 37-acre site, you'll encounter a variety of environments, including farmsteads, a village square, and a schoolhouse. The experience is brought to life by costumed interpreters who cheerfully share stories and knowledge in both Swedish and English. Visitors rave about the free admission, the beautiful, well-kept grounds, and the diverse range of things to see and do. You can explore period gardens, orchards, and farmlands, and meet native breeds of farm animals like Jämtland goats and Gotland rabbits. There are also craft workshops, a restaurant, and a café, making it a perfect destination for the whole family. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful and educational outing, Vallby Open Air Museum delivers an exceptional experience that feels like a walk through a living history book. 🫂🙏🏻👑✝️🇸🇪☘️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💚⭐️

Vallby Open Air Museum is an open-air museum in Västerås. The museum is located at Skerikesvägen 2 near the E18 about two kilometers north of the center of Västerås. The museum began construction in 1921 and is currently run by the city of Västerås. The museum shows environments from both the city and the countryside, the oldest of which is from the 17th century. Within the area there are preserved wooden and stone houses from the city and the country, endangered farm animals, cultivations of cultural and ornamental plants and crafts. Today, Vallby Open Air Museum is one of Sweden's largest open-air museums with around 40 buildings.

Good place to drain energy for kids. There is a lot to do. I suggest to come in the morning on weekdays it can be quite busy
Smokethz — Google review
The place is good for kids, but the staff is very unfriendly and slow. The food area was extremely dirty, tables weren't clean, you cant wear shoes, so I kept stepping on food leftovers. When I mentioned it to the staff, they grumpily said they clean up when it's dirty, but it was clearly dirty at that moment.
Bonnie B — Google review
Very good place for kids to play and have fun. Good and safe , parents can do watch them playing and can also participate with them...Nice place to have coffee and gossip too..kids and parents couldn't get bored there. But the ticket are getting costly day by day.
Sharmin H — Google review
This place just keeps getting worse and worse. It's worn, dirty, and often overcrowded. Nothing is being renewed, and many attractions are falling into disrepair. For instance, the ball cannons no longer have any balls, and torn balls are scattered on the ground. The slides don't slide, and you can see how old and worn everything has become. However, Leos continue to happily charge SEK 250 without considering updating anything.

Nestled next to the Vasteras library, Botaniska Trädgården is a charming little garden that has been delighting visitors since its establishment in the early 1700s. This well-planned oasis features a variety of trees and vibrant flowers, making it an ideal spot for a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. While its beauty is undeniable, it's worth noting that the garden sometimes attracts local individuals seeking refuge, which can detract from its serene atmosphere.
Small sized gården but well-planned/numbered with many different trees and flowers. It established the beginnings of 1700s. Next Västerås library...even 5 minutes visit is perfekt!

Nice walk with a good selection of plants to look at, even if I were there rather late in September.
Birgitta S — Google review
This is a quaint garden populated with a good variety of herbaceous plants, a few trees, and way too much grass. The garden is reasonably kept, but the seating areas trend to attract the irresponsible, or are otherwise decorated with litter. Nonetheless, worth a quick visit if you are in the vicinity during the right seasons and want some eye candy.

(Translated by Google) So disappointed, the first thing I encountered was a bed of common marigold, I don't know if there was more in that bed - continued further into the garden thinking it was probably a one-off - no, the same thing in almost all flower beds - can you really call this a botanical garden?????
Annika S — Google review
(Translated by Google) Almost no plants on the signs are left, everything is completely wild and overgrown with other things. No one has looked after the garden for years. Nice place if you are not there to look at the plants that should have been there.

The entrance is small. But it is big on the inside. And there are many options and things to choose from. It is so big that we got lost. The decorations are very nicely done. When you walk into one of them it is like going into someone's house. They have even hung up drawings by childern. The beds are very comfortable.

IKEA is well known all around the world for all house hold things. This chain in Erikslund is present inside Erikslund shopping center in Vásteras. It is present both in ground floor and first floor. The place is so wide and large. There are more possibilities for getting lost in the middle.😂 The categories for every items were properly arranged. You could also get ideas for setting any room from here. The cost for furniture ,decors, and kitchen utensils were normal. But some items like bathroom accessories were little bit higher. But you can find many options and varieties so that you can choose your best option. The customer service was good. There will be a screen in the shopping cart.It will show information of the items on that place wherever we pull the cart.It works based upon the location. There is a service center and shops for getting food items. The cost for the food items were literally cheap.I thought of eating every time here whenever I visit IKEA.

It's a really great IKEA 👍 Even come here sometimes just for the ice cream cones. Really great place to drink a coffee and eat a snack. The stores in the mall it's inside are also great. The parking lot smells like trash and cigarettes though. Cheap place also.

your standard IKEA. Good thing is that it's inside a shopping mall, which means that you can do other things, too. Tip: Park in the garage below. Short way and protected from the elements.

First Camp Västerås - Mälaren is a delightful resort that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and fun. Nestled by a beautiful lake, it features streamlined accommodations, including basic yet comfortable cabins equipped with all the essentials. The private beach is ideal for cooling off on warm days, while the adventure golf course adds an exciting twist to your stay.
Had a great time here with my friends for an ending to the holiday. We only visited during the afternoon. Playing one round of adventure golf, followed by taking a swim at the beach which was great for cooling down. Ended the day with a pizza in their restaurant. + The food was awesome! + The dessert was nice as well. + Nice to have everything conveniently around the same place. + It was alright to grab some water from the restaurant, even when they didn't know we were going to eat there later on. - The area around the beach should be cleaned up as it had some bird poop and feathers all over the grass. - The bridge in the left middle had some broken off wood in the water, which someone might accidentally walk on.

Strongly don’t recommend this hotel!!!!. I have booked new house for two days for Christmas and when we came we were very sad and came back home. Because according to the photos we should stay in new house , but provided house was rather old and completely another from what we have booked online. We have paid 2300 sek and we have not staid there any minute , about this I have informed their call centre. They have not paid me any sek back, our Christmas was distroyd. We came from Stockholm and was able to come back same time.

Don’t bother staying here unless you’re looking for: Filthy algar beach water, poor service, dogs barking all day long, drunken quartels in the middle of the night, glass bottles dumpedd on the path, a laundry room booked for days but standing empty, Showers badly in need of repair. This has been our favourite spot but this year seems to suffer from poor management. Not even a sign informing the public of the water conditions…we checked out several days before our planned stay and they refused to refund our money for the days we didn’t use (buy paid for in sdvance!)

We stayed for one night in a tent. The camping is located right next to the lake which is nice but it is a little far away from the city center. Unfortunately the bathroom and shower where not very clean but they worked fine though.
Sophia L — Google review
Good stop over location, but same as with most first camps it is pricey for what it is. Pitches were water logged, so much so we helped someone else get into their pitch as their car couldn't. Facilities clean and tidy and the family shower with a kids bath is really helpful. Will stay again it's just a shame it's so expensive for a stopover site

We have rent a 5 people cabin for 3 people. In one word...dirty.They gave us the key without any shared check-up of the cabin. The mattress were full of human and animal hairs I should done the vacuum on them. The kitchen was full of oily stuff de have to clean everything we used before. Then the bathroom was moldy. Finally we paid 70 kr for the washing machine and the dryer and we went away with humid laundry. We booked for 3 nights and fled after 2.
G E — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin was basic but had all we needed. You must visit the restaurant on site - the kenab tallrik was the best I've tasted with amazing sauces. Close to Västerås - buses run every 30 minutes from the train station. They have their own access to a beautiful lake with lots of surrounding grass. Even though we went for Midsummer and it was very busy, it was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!
Teejay — Google review
Place is huge and seems to be pretty good for caravans. The mobil homes are really dirty (the beds are close to beeing disgusting). After telling the stuff, they came and cleaned one of the rooms again. Later that evening we found more dirt, stains and hair on the other mattresses as well. No recommendation.

(Translated by Google) Hello! Very unpleasant experience was followed by an elderly gentleman tinkering with something in the flower bed at the cafe today, Monday the 8th, right down to my caravan in the parking lot. and started accusing me of things then asked me how long I had been in the parking lot and said something about the municipality, well thanks we know all the rules around this. I don't think he has anything to do with it. He also said that the cafe and the toilet are private land.. We paint inside the caravan He also asked about that, which he also really has nothing to do with.. again there we have sense and etiquette. He was also very rude. Sad as we won't be coming back to the cafe again don't want to run into this man again. I got up and asked if the toilet was public only and this gentleman didn't like it. We stand there sometimes for fishing and shop at the cafe sometimes. He was clear in saying that they were only for guests, but we are guests at the cafe sometimes, I only asked if the toilet was public as it says so on the door of the toilet. So really, is the toilet public as it says? Is it private land? (Original) Hej!

(Translated by Google) Super cozy farm with 3 cottages, was secluded and perfect for us. The cabin was a good size with 2 bedrooms. Spacious room with kitchen and table, sofa. Fresh showers and toilets right next door. Beautiful view from the cafe over Lake Mälaren. And close to a small bath with beach and jetty. The staff were so nice and welcoming.

(Translated by Google) Incredibly good and nice calming view, probably the best in town. The younger staff have now received training in how it should be done and they have also made a new investment in the form of a pump thermos, instead of the table jugs they used to cool the coffee in before. The short season is the only downside, but it's all the better once it gets going.

Kungsbyn Djurpark, located just 15 minutes outside Vasteras, is a small but well-maintained zoo featuring 34 different animal species. It's perfect for families with kids as there are plenty of opportunities to interact closely with the animals, including petting some of them. The zoo showcases Nordic animals and farm animals alongside lemurs, snakes, and more. There's a family-friendly atmosphere with scheduled activities every hour to keep kids entertained.
A fantastic adventure. They give a 20min tour (safari) where you can see up close or pat the animals and feed some of them. Afterwards you can have a picknick at the park as well. Good for a day trip.

Quirky and different place, lots of old ships and reconstructions of viking-age ships. Not sure how true to history the ships are (thinking of the largest one, the cogg). Unfortunately the information signs are bleached by the sun and are hard to read. They do their own ice cream, Very tasty but also pricey. The staff might have had a bad day when we were there - seemed annoyed to have guests they had to serve. Not a single smile, just a bad attitude. I guess it would be possible to swim from the pier, but this isn't the place you go for a swim. They do rent out cayaks and have fun activities like archery for a fee.
