This time I only slept here. But the service is always excellent, the food really good, and the breakfast is nice. Also with a lovely view of Trollhättan.

I come to this town to see my friends and family, and as I often choose to stay in a hotel, I prefer to stay here. The Albert’s is a unique place as is on a hill (with the short walk to the downtown), and is a beautiful period building with an amazing history. The staff is extremely welcoming, helpful and kind. BUT the smörgåsbord for breakfast is a real thing. Also, they are well known for their high quality food and great wine selections. It is just wonderful, to sit there eating breakfast and having that amazing view over the town, water and parks. My Swedish home away from home…

What a fantastic property and our host Ellen couldn’t have been kinder. A lovely, kind soul with an infectious laugh. Our trip had us staying here for one night with a return planned two nights later for a different hotel nearby. However, we fell in love with The Albert and Ellen that we cancelled our other reservations just to stay one more night here. The morning view over the river while enjoying a breakfast feast was magical. Thank you, Ellen and your team, for giving us a lifetime memory! We will be back!

A cozy restaurant with friendly service and creative cuisine run by 2 ladies. We could not think of a better ending to our trip.

I stayed here for a work trip to Sweden from the US. What a great place to stay. The rooms were large and very clean. We also ate at the restaurant. To say the food was great would be an understatement. I absolutely loved the hospitality the staff showed. Even one of the chefs look like Gordon Ramsay, not as loud though. I would highly recommend the Albert to anyone staying in town. Stay for dinner as well!

Very tasty pizza. The dough feels quite light and very yummy. The sauce isn't too strong. I do recommend the lunch kebab pizza and the half-baked in one at the lunch menu.

Very cozy locale with excellent food. We had chicken wings for starters and burgers for main. There was a bit of sting to the wings - nice! And there's options with even more sting for the brave. The burgers came presented on a board. Both looked appetising and tasted great. The staff is friendly and very service minded. We will definitely be visiting again.

Amazingly good for a better than fair price. My only complaint was that the coleslaw was very boring, even compared to other coleslaws, but the coleslaw wasn't the reason why I ordered my 300 gram burger anyway so I'm not letting it affect the overall score. It was a very nice and clean establishment and the staff was friendly and professional.

Food was average vs. price. I had day soup as meal since I was not feeling so good and the soup def didn’t make it better. It was burnt, tasted like oil and lots of tiny crumbs in it. (By the way soup should be blended well) I was not able to finish and nobody didn’t really ask me was it good. I felt like they got annoyed the fact I ordered a soup. Lol Payment was not really smooth either. The decoration was pretty and cozy so star for that. Also the staff was cuddling a little with this weird dude who was dressed in t-shirt and jeans. One of the staff spanked her colleague on butt and I saw it making it more uncomfortable. When they were in counter seemed weirdly like gossiping about customers. Staff were not really warm and went to smoke during the shift bringing fine aftersmoke smell to the room. Just add more warmth in the attitude of the workers and focus on the quality. If you cannot make soups, please take it off the menu 🙏🏽

Service is nice but the portions are small , I got the steak 🥩 that came with little sauce and very little chips, they must improve that !

This is for the new butlers backdoor Asian kitchen - only order the ramen dish if you like a cup of soy sauce poured into the bowl. Also there wasn't much difference between the small and large portion. Disappointing :(

Good food espesially the steak but the evening was spoiled by rude and snuty staff. One would expect better service for their prices.

Over 25 min waiting for tapas food. Ordered three tapas were the portabellotaco was ok. The chickentaco tasteless with hard and fried chicken and a strange composition. The dadels were good but served on this sallad. The price for this way to expensive.

The cold food was very tasty but the warm food was not to our satisfaction and we all had different dishes. The taco tasted burned and the chicken was very chewy,the steak was under seasoned and the potato bake was too crispy and flat and again no flavour added to it. The service was horrific. We accidentally ordered an extra quesadillas after reading the order sheet incorrectly. When the food came out we politely asked if we had gotten the order wrong and the lady was friendly enough to take it back to the kitchen but shortly after another staff came out to rudely point out what we had done wrong and forced the dish on us. That ruined the whole atmosphere after that. We would have been happy to pay for it but the way it was handled was extremely rude and made us feel very unwelcome. They should perhaps clarify how to fill out their order sheet more clearly?..!

We where 4 grown-up and 1 small child. They say that food are being delivered as they are ready. 1 of us got all food before some of us got one. They did not prioritize the child food. In my mind they should have done. I wanted well-done it was not well-done. So everyone hade eaten when I got my food. The taste was not bad so that is a plus. There was a lot of people there but maybe, they should have done things in a different way. I won't be going back.

Had a birthday dinner. Service was 90% excellent, but failed at the end as we switched tables. Food was good value for money, but I've had better tapas.

We wanted to have a cocktail and were happy to get a seat outside, was quite crowded on a Saturday night with > 20 C. We had breakfast from the hotel here all week, and that was outstanding!

Disappointing... The patatas bravas are frozen potato wedges from ica. The chorizo wasn't even fried properly. The croquettes were bland and the oil used to cooked them, old. We're not even sure we got the right wine. As a wine bar, the servers should serve the wine at the table. At least the wine glasses are at an acceptable price.

Fantastic restaurant with wide variety of tapas and drinks for everyone. Nice that there was vegetarian section separately to easy see them at one list. Staff was friendly and kept sure everything was alright. Sizes of the portions were good and worth of money. Highly recommended!

Very nice family restaurant, cozy atmosphere with quick staff. Food was out very quickly. Recipes look really homemade, even the cakes. Honestly, 5/5 place.

Tried Grilled Salmon fish and chicken skewers with spicy sauce. Both are very good and tasty. I liked it and worth every penny.

I enjoyed this place. Has a nice selection of tapas and it's not exceedingly expensive or anything. Staff were nice and accommodating. We didn't even book ahead but they had space. There's an enclosed seating area outside, which means you can sit out there even if it's not the warmest of days. They offered blankets to drape across ourselves in case it got cold. Overall it's a decent place with above average service and won't break the bank. Only question I have is why they have a leather couch in the toilet?! Made me laugh when I saw it.

Pizzas arrived hot and fresh. The thin crust, the quality of the ingredients, and the taste was great. The staff is warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. If I’m ever in Vänersborg again, I’ll definitely return for this unforgettable taste experience

Be aware that the restaurant's menu on their website is out of date - the pizzas you see on the receipt were advertised at 133kr and 145kr respectively. Pizzas look nice in photos but in reality the crust is very thin and looks like the pizza is made on store-bought Lebanese pita bread. The salami on the pizza looked like everyday store-bought salami. We also ordered glasses of water because the soda at 39kr was more expensive than light beer at 35kr (???). When we received the bill we saw that we were charged 10kr each for our glasses of lukewarm tap water (no ice, contrary to what the receipt says) - no mention of there being a charge for regular water on the menu. To the restaurant's credit, the man who served us was very polite and pleasant to us and other customers we heard him interact with.

The pizza was great. Haven't eaten before. But I do recommend this.

My favorite restaurant in Vänersborg. Genuine Italian style pizza just the way I like it. Good wine list, reasonable prices and service with a smile.

I'm very satisfied with the service, the food was excellent. I ordered the 3 dish menu, and carpaccio as an extra appetizer. The food was very good, and the service was superb. If they didn't have something on the menu they did their best to find an alternative. Recommend if you are nearby.

We were there for lunch so obviously more low key than a dinner sitting but food was good and the restaurant was tidy and pleasant

After we made a booking for 12 for a friends 30th birthday party we had one member drop out 10 minutes before. Understandably we were asked to pay for the extra person as they had already prepared the food and were told we could take the food home. When the end of the night came we asked for the extra food that they said had already been cooked. We proceeded to wait a further half hour as they cooked the last portion for us to take home. It would be understandable if we were a company taking employees to a restaurant to charge for the extra food but when we are private individuals that are all local to the area(potential return customers ) to have to pay for the extra food seems abit absurd ,especially as the extra portion obviously had not been cooked before hand. The outside seating had a nice atmosphere and great views but the experience was spoiled by the waiting staff taking finished plates from the table whilst others were still midway through their food. Either way great burger

This place used to serve very good food. In the last one year it's quality has gone down abysmally. The curry is full of oily spices and the quantity is tiny. Even the naan was half baked. This is really one of the worst Indian food I have tried outside India!!

The Food here was top notch , very traditional I would recommend the saag paneer with a fresh soft tandoor naan and authentic crispy samosas you will not be dissapointed , this restaurant was so clean and had such an Indian feel , the staff were also very helpful and friendly , I would highly recommend anyone to try this place !

This was an unexpected delight to find in a small town in Sweden. The food was really good and authentic to Indian roots. I highly recommend their naan which was as good as any I have had in India. The lamb korma was also well prepared. The lamb was well cooked and tasty. The gravy was not overpowering in terms of spices or oil. Overall, a great place for some good Indian food.

Very glad we happened on this gem of a restaurant yesterday. Great service, nice atmosphere and really good food. We had several different dishes at the table and everyone loved what they got. Wish we had a place with this much charm, neat interior design and such good food at this price where we live (a much larger city). The location is wonderful, it must be absolutely lovely to sit outside on a warm day. 110% recommend this place.

The place is beautiful and located by the water. The service was bland and the we waited an hour for the food. Waitress was not observant and we had to wave her down to get attention. One drink they came with the ingredients and we had to mix it ourselves (same drink prior came mixed). The food was great except for the tiny tiny skagen toast for 65 kr which was maybe two bites (laughable) and the shrimp sandwich was drenched in Mayo that it just was mush w the bread. The rest of the food was excellent. Not worth the price bill and probably won’t be back.

Finally found a place in Trollhättan what makes Neapolitan pizza. Even though the dough is not as good as in those “real” places you still get Neapolitan pizza. Some minus because of slowish service and somewhat unorganized kitchen what might make pizza waiting time long (if they are out of pizza dough and they need to wait for dough to be ready). Great location by the river.

Our food was served promptly. It was very tasty and well cooked. Nice and spicy. Well lit establishment, lot's of space, and large windows. Friendly personal. Not too pricey ($12 curry). Vegan alternatives are well indicated. We ate Gobi Aloo (cauliflower) and Dhal (lentils), with garlic naan. I would recommend this establishment, and you should make a stop here for dinner if you can.

Today I ordered chicken tikka masala but you gave Briyani gravy with chicken and rice is also not properly cooked.

I visited ponchos for the first time and it was not experience. nobody asked me about it, also there was no any explanation how it works( if you are here for the first time it really matters) And it feels like personal don’t care about the customers. We were here with kids and popcorn was not provided, we had to ask and wait (I found paper and crayons for kids by myself, there was no any tips about it). Restaurant closes at 22, but kitchen was already closed at 20.30 Food is food, but portion is really small, cocktails are fine

Came to bowl a few times. Good service, clean, and a lot of bowling ball options. I like how they put out the rental shoes for customers to choose, instead of having employees manage them. It’s nice that they put a sense of trust and it saves a lot of time.

A fantasic place for a really delicious style napoli pizza. Baked in a real wood oven. Prices not bad at all and worth your money. Or if you fancy a delicious pasta dish. But for first timer I would suggest the pizza part of the menu. And really friendly and serivce minded staff!

This isn't the right place to go for authentic Italian pizza. While the bread is suitably flat, there is an overabundance of cheese and a lack of tomato sauce. Additionally, they are in the habit of putting kewab sauce on almost every pizza, so if that isn't your taste I would recommend staying away. Kewab is fine tho

This is the blandest food I've ever tasted in my life. Did you guys run out of salt? Do you want me to bring you some salt?

The worst chinese buffé I have been to. They say they offer sushi during lunch time, there was none and when I asked they said something that was not understandable about having a problem. Where the sign with fried chicken was, fried shrimps was served instead. I have a shellfish allergy and don’t want to think what would happen if I would bite into the fried ball before opening it up. Instead of beef there was fish cakes, I mean… that is just straight up hazarding with people’s health. The peanut sauce was watery and noodles had no taste. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend. Very disappointed!

You get a good amount of food for the price you pay. So you never leave hungry. Somewhat fast and a big menu to choose from.

I hope I was just unlucky during my visit tuere but the food was so bad that I could not even eat noodles. Everything had strong smell of oil. I only managed to eat a bit of chicken and everything else was inedible. There is an ice cream machine. At least it was quite ok but also nothing special. The design is quite nice but it will not help if the food is bad.

Only went there on lunch, buying their all to can eat buffé. Think it's one of the better of the sort, me and my gf liked it, and the baby in her tummy agreed. :)

Bought Pad Thai with shrips there yesterday, and today got food poisoning, myself and my husband. I suspect unfresh shrimps.So I won`t go there again, and do not reccomend it to you. Plus the dish seemed to dry to my taste. 0 stars

At 110 SEK for all you can eat, hungry Mummy decided to try Phasa Thai restaurant on our way passed. Although the food was average there was a reasonable choice and the restaurant was warm and quiet (no music). Mummy heaped two platefuls of the main course items. Her excuse for such a vulgar display is that it is better than going up and down up and down up and down having put just a little bit on the plate each time! The food wasn't particularly Thai. There was a mixture of southeast Asian. There are soft drinks on tap to help yourself to. We both agreed that the berry sorbet was yummy. The restaurant is not accessible to wheelchairs due to a step up from the streets and three steps inside with no realistic space for a ramp.

As a chinese, I do really need to point out that the low review is not mainly because of the taste, but mainly because of their variety. At first glance they have a variety of selections of food, and at second glance most of them are just deep fried. This may be because of the influence of western culture, but I digress. Deep fried food is crunchy, but unfortunately gets too oily after a few pieces. Their sweet and sour sauce tastes a bit too mild for my liking, same goes for curry which is a bit too sweet,and not spicy enough. The portion on this is enormous for its price, please do not come as a single person and expect an adult portion size. Recommend to come here if there is more than one person. Overall still a very pleasant visit as the owner was extremely friendly and kind.

We had just 15 minutes and in this small and cosy train station they prepared us a beautiful and delicious meal to take away in just 6 minutes! Absolutely excellent place to get sushi. A nice, small setting with friendly staff (I believe it's run by a husband and wife). They're very accommodating and make terrific sushi. They offer free coffee with a main disk weekdays to 3 PM. I wasn’t aware of the free coffee offer so it was nice of them to remind me of this offer.

The pepper beef was quite good though. The amount of artificial plants is overwhelming and they're just going to be collecting dust and grease with time, making it disgusting. Really good indian food. Many great dishes to choose from. I tried the pakistani lamb, medium hot, and it was real good tender meat and rich taste from the sauce. The owner had a warm and nice aura. I’d come back any time if I pass by Vänersborg hungry again.

Visited in July 2025. For a small town like Vänersborg, I think the food was pretty good, the portions were generous and the price fair. The only rather disappointing dish was the naan bread, which I assume was cooked from frozen. Service was fine, even though the food took a bit longer than I expected. My least favourite thing, besides the naan, was the atmosphere - it was very warm when I visited, there were a few flies inside, and there was a quite noisy kid in the kitchen.

Absolutely amazing!!! This place deserves lots of credits. If you are into Indian food you will definitely be satisfied. For the main dish we had garlic tikka masala (sweet with almond flavour) and a very spicy mango curry. Both were delicious! I would especially recommend the fried onions as a starter. Dishes are well organised in mild, hot and very hot. Great portions and good prices, so great value for money.

Good and quick service, food is great and has a decent salad bar. Seating is good but they tend to leave the TV on which can be a bit disruptive. All in all I do recommend 4/5 will eat there again.
