The Royal Navy Submarine Museum, located in Gosport, offers a fascinating insight into the world of British submarine warfare. Visitors can explore the history and development of submarines through guided tours and interactive displays. The museum is home to a collection of historic submarines including HMS Alliance, the only surviving WWII era British submarine. Guests can experience life onboard and learn about covert missions firsthand. Additionally, the museum features other notable submarines such as Holland 1, X24, and a German Biber midget submarine.
A fascinating experience to look around the submarine Particularly enjoyed the set up of the rooms and kitchen facilities as if it was just left there. Audio of how it would have sounded in the areas really added to the experience
Tiffany S — Google review
Worth doing to learn about the history of submarines. Tour over HMS Aliance aswell as the Holland submarine which was built in 1904. Museum is interesting and some of it is interactive too. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly too. The view over Portsmouth Harbour is nice from the Gosport side. If you buy an Ultimate explorer ticket at the Historic dockyard naval museum, the submarine museum is included along with the water bus that takes you to the submarine museum directly. You board the water bus alongside the harbour tour boat which is also well worth doing and again is included in the ultimate explorer ticket price. You can visit multiple times with one of these tickets so if this is your thing, it's well worth doing.
Jan B — Google review
Really interesting museum, have to admit didn't spend too long in the main museum, most of the visit was concentrated on HMS Holland, amazed a submarine this old has survived, houses in a brilliant gallery. HMS Alliance, was really great to look around, there aren't many places you can go on board and explore a 1940's submarine, bit cramped, but well worth it and the submariner on board was really helpful with questions. If you are visiting the dockyard, well worth popping over and having a look around.
Scott B — Google review
Truly exceptional museum full of interesting exhibits, one of a kind peices and all well laid out with just the right level of explanation. Highlights are HMS Conquerors captains cabin, the Jolly Roger flags and HMS Holland. An easy 5 stars and the best of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Explorer Ticket
Stevie B — Google review
Visited the Submarine Museum in Gosport with a Full Dockyard Pass. Drove there—easy route and free parking, which was a plus. If you're already at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, there's a water taxi option, which makes visiting more convenient if you're hopping between sites. HMS Alliance is a rare and fascinating vessel—the last surviving Royal Navy Amphion-class submarine, with Cold War service and a record-breaking dive in her history. For adults interested in naval history, she’s genuinely impressive. Unfortunately, the tour didn’t do her justice. The guides were friendly and helpful, but both said they couldn’t go into much detail, which rather defeated the point. The visit felt rushed and surface-level. Inside the museum, many of the interactive displays weren’t working. We had a young child with us who generally finds museums boring, and the broken exhibits meant there was little to engage him or bring the experience to life. It was a missed opportunity to make the museum more accessible and enjoyable for families. Even with the Dockyard Pass, the ticket price felt steep for what was on offer. The museum has potential, but it needs better upkeep, more engaging interpretation, and a slower, more thoughtful approach to justify the cost—especially for families and history enthusiasts.
Bee ( — Google review
It’s quite rare to see a submarine on land, and even more special that you can actually go inside and experience what life was like on board. The interior of the submarine is fascinating, though the nearby museum has relatively few exhibits, and some interactive displays didn’t seem to be working. Overall, still a good experience.
Issac — Google review
Was lucky enough to have Philip and found the whole experience fantastic. 2 hours well spent and was taught a lot very interesting

The Spinnaker Tower, a prominent landmark in Portsmouth, offers visitors an unforgettable experience. Standing at 170 meters tall, it provides stunning 360-degree views of Portsmouth Harbour, the South coast, and the Isle of Wight. The tower features a glass-floored platform and an on-site cafe for visitors to enjoy. Constructed with an elegant design, it has become a national icon for Britain since its opening in October 2005.
Absolutely amazing place with breathtaking views and a lovely cafe. I visited on my second ever trip to Portsmouth as I was mesmerised by the first visit and knew I had to come back. I visited on a week day and there was no wait in the morning. We were instantly greeted by lovely staff who were very welcoming and kind. The lift was extremely quick and even for me, someone who isn’t fond of lifts, I rather enjoyed the trip up because of the facts the staff member was giving us on the way up. I arrived on the viewing deck and immediately was amazed. You could see all the way to the Isle of Wight and across Portsmouth. The glass floor was especially cool (but scary!!) and was amazing to go on. We made our way up to the cafe where we got to further enjoy the views and have some lovely snacks and drinks. The top floor was also very cool, with the feeling of fresh air and a telescope to look through. The gift shop was also lovely and I got a mini model of the tower in there which I adore. We had a day ticket and we came back in the afternoon and enjoyed the views once again. Overall great experience and something definitely not to miss when visiting!
Eliza — Google review
Loved this! Bought a day ticket, which meant we could go back anytime during the day. As it was a bright, sunny day, the views were wonderful. It was very busy in the morning due to school groups, I would recommend going later in the afternoon. Much less busy and a more relaxing visit altogether! The glass floor was fun. We had tea and cake in the cafe and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - we even forked out for the photos and have been able to download them at home as well. Obviously a sunny day helps make the experience better!
Stephanie C — Google review
I was lucky with the weather and had gorgeous views all round. It was fun watching ferries and other shipping coming in and out. One ferry had some nail biting moments entering a narrow port area! Next time I will book an afternoon tea up in the clouds.
Kate A — Google review
Worth booking at least 24hrs in advance on line to get a discount. Pay on the day is £18.95 adult price. Get the lift to the viewing gallery and see great views across Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent and the Isle of Wight. There is a section of glass floor you can walk over looking all the way down to the ground. There are stairs leading further up to the outdoor garden. There is a cafe in the tower or plenty of eating places in the surrounding area.
Shaun J — Google review
Beautiful view, blah, blah. It is the staff that make this such a wonderful day out. From the ticket desk, to the lift operator, to everyone in the Spinnaker Kitchen, every single team member we interacted with was absolutely delightful, smiling, helpful and lovely. Thank you to everyone who works there 👍🏻
Phil G — Google review
I came to visit Spinnaker tower on the 17.10.25. I did not realise it was the towers 20th Anniversary. It was well worth the time and money being up in the tower was absolutely amazing, you could see the isle of Wight, Southampton and even Gosport. The view from up above is simply breathtaking. We will definitely be coming back during the night.
Yvonne C — Google review
The Spinnaker is a great experience. The views were stunning. There was a lovely rainbow. I didn't dare to walk on the glass floor, it had several cracks in the glass.
Sarah — Google review
Great, if a little pricey activity to include on a trip to Portsmouth. Fabulous views on all three levels IF you time your visit to when it's clear. For Best value book 24 hours in advance. The Coffee ☕ lounge on the middle deck is well worth stopping by. Team member Caroline, who was on Coffees during my visit, deserves a huge shout out as she is very customer focused, hard working and welcoming.

The Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower, nestled in Gosport, UK, is a fascinating destination that delves into the intricate history and societal impacts of naval warfare. Opened in 2001 by HRH Prince Andrew, this museum features interactive displays that engage visitors while showcasing the evolution of naval firepower. One highlight is the stunning 18th-century Grand Magazine, originally built in 1771 to store gunpowder for the Royal Navy during significant conflicts like the Napoleonic Wars.
I didn't have time to visit the museum. We only had time to enjoy the tea room. A very friendly lady worked there, the decaf latte with oat milk was delicious. The raspberry flapjack was nice too. The atmosphere of the tea room was lovely. Outside seating available in good weather & dog friendly.

Great trip over to Gosport on the water taxi. Museum was fairly busy. Quite interesting, disappointing that several of the 'hands-on' exhibits were not working. Lovely to sit on their terrace for a sandwich and coffee at lunchtime. Need more time here next visit to have a longer look in the Night Hunters building.
Issie J — Google review
A great place to visit with many indoor exhibits along with short history films to watch. The staff here are polite & helpfull to guide you round. There is a small cafe serving light snacks and tea , coffee and cold drinks. There is also a bar serving alchoholic drinks & soft drinks next to the cafe.
Gary B — Google review
Great visit on May 11 and wonderful tour with a super knowledgeable guide who filled us in on the background of the exhibits which are not well labeled or explained for the most part. Really enjoyed it! Bought the Explorer’s pass to see all the exhibits in the dockyard, harbour tour and it was a great deal, spent 2.5 days in Portsmouth and still didn’t see it all.
Roger H — Google review
Well worth the visit if your into such things. Taken by itself the museum is a tad small but when considered as one of three locations, the big dockyard and the submarine museum, all accessible on the same ticket it's well worth it. Parking was free and easy. I visited on a Tuesday in August where I was pleased to find the it pleasantly quiet. The cafe was of a decent quality with friendly staff. Toilets clean and well appointed. A seperate craft beer place is on the same grounds which looked nice from the outside but wasn't investigated further.
Stella M — Google review
Good museum if a little small. As the content is quite focused it's worth checking if it's for you before making the trek but if it is for you it's probably the best in class. All organised and thoroughly laid out telling a story Pop over to the powder monkey pub before you leave for a decent pint.
Stevie B — Google review
The site tells the story of its past as a base and displays various types of firepower and ammunition, including turrets from HMS Dreadnought. The collection is quite extensive. We took the 11:00 water bus there and returned at 13:15. Finished visiting around 12:30 and had a light lunch at the café.
Issac — Google review
This little place is a rite little gem. My little girl loves this place. She really likes Heidi who works here. She's so good with the children and is very friendly and had very good knowledge of the museum.

Located in Portsmouth, The Diving Museum is a unique attraction that offers an extensive collection of military, commercial, and recreational diving equipment. It is considered one of the top family museums in the UK and provides an educational experience for visitors of all ages. The museum also features a treasure trail for kids and has knowledgeable and friendly staff. Additionally, it is situated near The Hovercraft Museum in Lee-on-the-Solent, which houses over 50 hovercraft of various sizes.
Excellent museum packed with exhibits from the earliest divers to the modern day. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Loads of interest for children and adults alike, well worth a visit, plus loads of special events throughout the year, check their website for details. Update: currently closed whilst undergoing renovations. Opening mid 2025.
Mark C — Google review
Even if you are not into diving, this palce is absolutely worth a visit. The museum displays the history of diving, equipment, and methods of exploring the under water world. It would be great to have a bit more on the more modern aspect of diving, but nevertheless it is a highly recommended place to visit. Great for all ages!
Daria S — Google review
A small but very informative and interesting museum. Although the best of this museum are the staff. So knowledgeable and caring! My children had a great time there
Carina P — Google review
Absolutely brilliant! A rainy afternoon well spent talking to the most knowledgeable team! a small museum but brimming with interesting artifacts! Definitely go, even if you don’t know about diving. Car park right next to it and a lovely cafe as well. What a treasure trove! Ps - there are a few steps to get in, I was with a pram and two volunteers jumped up to help me carry it. They were all so lovely, they really wanted us to have a great experience.
Fulidhoo M — Google review
What are simply amazing place we visited whilst visiting family and were amazed by how much is packed into this limited space and indeed the volunteers are its biggest asset we spent over an hour there and probably spent around half of the time discussing things with the experts that were there as volunteers. It's a true gem and worth a visit if you've never been then put it on your list.
Nitesh B — Google review
Interesting museum, small but manned by very enthusiastic volunteers who were very knowledgeable. Paid parking close by.

Nice small museum, with alot of interesting information and items.

The diving museum is excellent; there is a lot you didn't know about diving. The museum displays various diving equipment, ranging from early days to close to present. But what really makes it brilliant are the guides that have personal experience and knowledge and walk that extra mile, or should I day dives that extra fathom for you.

The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a must-visit destination, featuring three renowned ships: The Mary Rose, HMS Victory, and HMS Warrior. The Mary Rose Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Tudor life with over 19,000 artifacts on display alongside the well-preserved warship. Visitors can explore nine galleries showcasing the ship's history. Meanwhile, HMS Victory is famous for its role in the Battle of Trafalgar and now features an under hull walkway for a unique perspective.
Great place 100% worth visiting. There is lots to see & learn. Its a really interesting place with a number of ships & museums you can look around. Pricing is fair considering the amount you can do & all entry fees into the exhibits go towards the upkeep of the yard & if you just want to walk around it is free, you just cant go into the ships, but can use the giftshops, the free entry museum & the cafe. You can also get a informative boat tour around Portsmouth harbour from here which i would recommend.
Cassie P — Google review
Definitely worth the visit and the money. Got the ultimate explorer which allowed unlimited access for 12 months. 1. 10.15 to 11.30 am - HMS Warrior - (Definitely say hi to the lad on table 27) 2. 11.30 to 12 noon - snack break (better to carry snacks from home) 3. 12.15 to 1 pm - Harbour boat tour (included with ulimate explorer ticket) - they take you round the dock and give an overview of the surroundings There are tours every quarter past (10.15, 11.15 etc) 4. 1 to 1.30 pm - Mary Rose - I didn't find much to see here apart from the ship - the 4D cinema is not actually 4D, there are no glasses 5. 1.30 to 2.30 - HMS Victory- they give you audio guide to listen to 6. 2.30 to 3 - Lunch (fish and chip cost 15 and chicken cojouns and chips cost 13) 7. 3pm onwards rest of the places Had to skip water bus due to shortage of time, hence couldn't see the submarine and firepower museum. Note: if you are traveling with kids/elders be mindful because some of the steps are steep. Overall it was grand.
Natasha D — Google review
Great day out, but come more than once to see everything. If you only came once for a few hours, it would not be good value. The boat tour was great, really good commentary. Other boat trips to various attractions often full. Lots of places to eat and drink. Without fail, all of the staff are friendly and helpful. Only negative is that the only way to get a map of the place is to buy a guide book!
Mark H — Google review
A great day out for all the family, particularly history buffs! Get the all inclusive ticket which gives you access to all the exhibits. Really, it can be a two day visit if you want to include the submarine and explosives museum and boat tour. Be aware though that the explosives museum isn't open every day.
Timothy W — Google review
We arrived at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard with no real idea of what to expect – luckily, one of our travel companions knew exactly what this remarkable place was about and became our personal guide through history. The morning started with rain (as it should in England), but by the afternoon the sun came out, giving us the perfect setting to explore the ships and round it all off with a boat tour of the harbour. Standing on decks that once carried sailors across the world was both impressive and humbling – a living reminder of naval history brought to life. The whole experience was well worth the visit: history, atmosphere, and the sheer scale of the Royal Navy’s past glory. And as every proper British adventure should end – we closed the day in a nearby pub, with a cold pint and classic fish & chips. A perfect conclusion to a perfect day.
Max H — Google review
That's our second visit and this time we stayed for 4 days - which is necessary if you want to see everything and was absolutely worth it. It is really a great museum and the volunteers/employees are all very helpful and nice. The only downside is that it lacks documentation in French (and other languages) apart from the audioguide on the Victory. Being the only person proficient in English in our group, I've spent the four days orally translating everything which was a bit tiring :-D even though that's my usual day job - so I would suggest adding a few signs in other languages for a start.
Terebenthine - — Google review
Need more than a day to see everything. The Victory audio guide tour was superb, and the Mary Rose museum beautifully done. Cafe a little disappointing, no hot snacks on a VERY wet afternoon, fruit scone tasted like it had been on the Victory! Could do with better info on what parts were open or closed and when things closed that day.
Andy P — Google review
A friend recommended the Dockyard, and it was absolutely worth it! We spent two full days there and still didn’t manage to see everything. The site is huge, with a 45-minute guided tour and several themed museums. The Submarine and Firepower exhibitions are located in Gosport, which you can reach by water bus, so it’s best to plan your time accordingly. Overall, a fantastic experience.

The Mary Rose Museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into the 16th-century Tudor warship that was King Henry VIII's favorite. The museum showcases the preserved wreck of the ship, which was built in 1510 and sunk in 1545. Its modern architectural design mirrors traditional English boat sheds, while its interior features advanced climate control technology to preserve the ancient artifact.
I went there on a school trip and it was absolutely amazing. The ship is huge and you could see all of it from the glass rooms. They had projected people doing Tudor jobs and they were so incredible. The 4D cinema was so realistic as there was a fan blowing on us for when we were on the sea and real bubbles for under the sea. The gift shop had lots of variety and well made handcrafted gifts. Definitely recommend to a family day out.
Sophie H — Google review
We have the tickets for all the places to visit for the whole year and will definitely come back to see more. We couldn't fit it all in one morning but we loved the Mary Rose museum and the new feature of the 4D small cinema on the top floor. We also visited the HMS Victory which is great too.
Hannah — Google review
Nothing can prepare you for the spectacle of the ship. I walked into the darkened space and found a window to look across at this 500 years old ship. Rooted to the spot, my mouth went dry and for some reason tears started. What followed was an onslaught of sensory stimulation. You get an insight into the people who built the ship, the men that crewed it and the life they had. When was the last time you were THAT close to Tudor England, to timbers felled in the 1400's, to the pursers boots and the shipwright and carpenter that you can almost, almost touch and feel? Incredible. Not so incredible were the out of order and dirty toilets. Men and womens. Also, the tour guides need to hush up a little. Shouting instructions in a cathedral of Maritime Tudor times just isn't appropriate. Some of us want to drink in the place, in peace.
Jim D — Google review
Fascinating visit. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Was somewhere I had wanted to visit for many years. Receives a 4 because on that particular day conservationists were inspecting the ship and so I didn't experience the videos or atmospheric conditions that I'm informed usually make it a more memorable and engaging experience. I appreciate such work needs to be done but perhaps outside of visiting times or slightly reduced ticket price on such days.
E B — Google review
Me and my brother absolutely LOVED coming here and seeing her! The museum itself is HUGE filled with so much history. We love visiting places like this and seeing what life had been like, especially the first entrance with Henry VIII. We booked tickets on the day and didn't have to wait even though it looked a little busy! The queues were quiet!
Rebecca Q — Google review
My husband and I visited The Mary Rose Museum on 25/10, as part of a belated birthday gift - and it didn’t disappoint. We thoroughly recommend booking the 2hour 1:1 guided tour. The exhibition itself is amazing and you could spend hours inside as all the displays are informative and tell a story that captures the imagination. However, we were lucky enough to be guided by Bob- you’ll recognise him by his costume and friendly rat he carries on his shoulder - and Fred (as a bonus). Bob, although knowledgable about the history of the period, also had innumerable anecdotes up his sleeve. He’d thoroughly done his research and had met with people who’d been part of the original dive team, the team who’d brought up the Mary Rose and the crane driver teams. He also had a dry sense of humour. We were privileged to go behind the scenes and also handle some of the artefact's themselves. A truly memorable experience thanks to your magnificent guides who volunteer week in week out.
Anne — Google review
Over 20,000 artefacts and a 4D cinema experience, it is a time capsule of the Tudor period. This is an impressive museum, which includes the hull of this Tudor warship. You need an hour minimum, preferably 2 to 3 hours to see and read everything. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Gosport Discovery Centre, located in Gosport Town Hall, offers a diverse range of activities and resources for visitors. The center is an ideal destination for families with young children, providing an array of engaging experiences to spark creativity. In addition to its extensive book collection, the library hosts various groups such as scrabble and craft clubs, as well as wellness sessions for art enthusiasts. Visitors can also make use of the available computers and enjoy the assistance of friendly staff members.
Although a Havant resident, since discovering (pun intended) Gosport library I prefer the latter. Although it involves me in a tedious rail or bus journey through Portsmouth and a ferry journey across the harbour, I look forward to my regular visits, and I always include a visit to the delightful Bookworm café where the friendly staff and delicious food makes it worth the visit for that alone. But the other advantage is that there is a better selection of books than Havant in my experience (I’ve just checked my current selection from Gosport and all but one are not to be found at Havant). Being old school (age 81) I find the noise a bit distracting but this applies to both libraries equally and is, I recognise, a “sign of the times” [sigh]. So full marks to Gosport Discovery Centre and its busy little café.

Go every week to the book worm café it's very reasonable, great staff very friendly, who have been there for years. The food is lovely, it's a great place to meet with friends to have lunch or a coffee or to get a book from the library sit on a comfy chair with a drink and enjoy some quite time.

Recently I have spent more time in the cafe than in the library! I do know that there is a very reasonable selection of books and newspapers & magazines are available. I have seen advertised , groups that meet such as for scrabble & craft etc and a wellness group for art. How often these groups meet especially during these Covid times would need to be checked out. Computers are available which have proved useful to many. The library staff are always very helpful .In the cafe there is a good selection of food at a reasonable price . Service is quick, tables are well spaced out. The atmosphere is relaxed, especially if you decide to use the sofas!

The Gosport Library is a lovely place to visit. There is a large variety of books and they are nicely categorized so that you can find exactly what you need by looking in the right shelf. Staff are always really helpful and willing to lend a hand no matter what you might need. The library also has a cafe which serves a delectable selection of cold or hot food and drink. If you haven't been before, I definitely recommend!

Fabulous as usual. Always welcoming and always helpful. Its very clean. I am in a wheelchair and the staff put themselves out to carry my tray and help me. Thank you for also it being roomy so I can freely get wheelchair in and out of the cafe without having to move anything. Thanks

Found the library pleasantly quiet and not crowded, was able to browse for reading materials without having to avoid any others. Received great service from a staff member renewing my audio borrowing card.

I love Books. There is plenty of room for lots of organised activities and tables where you can work on your own computer or the static ones. The Bookworm Cafe sells good food; (the Cheese Scones are delicious, but you have to get there early because they never make enough!! The picture gallery adds to the atmosphere.

A great little art gallery just behind Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth. They run creative workshops but the highlight for me is the coffeeshop. The pies and cakes are lovely and fresh and there is a good selection of savouries.

Aspex Portsmouth is a vibrant hub of contemporary art. The diverse exhibitions showcase emerging talent and provoke thought. The space itself is welcoming, with friendly staff eager to engage visitors. Whether you're an art aficionado or just curious, Aspex offers a refreshing cultural experience in the heart of Portsmouth. Don't miss it!

Gunwharf Quays’ best kept secret! The cafe is superb and the care of preparation and service are wonderful - almost think twice before putting a review as worried more people will use and we won’t be able to get in! The soup, toasted sandwiches and cakes are all lovely, and the owner is always so nice.

Children's amusement center
Monkey Bizness Gosport is a modern kids' attraction offering a full party service, soft play area, and a cafe. Visitors have noted that the facility is spacious and has been updated recently. It caters to children of all ages, providing an enjoyable experience for both young toddlers and preteens. The staff members are highly praised for their friendliness and exceptional customer service.
Amazing place both my 2 + almost 4 ear old boys LOVE this play area so much!! It's their favourite place. My partner usually runs around it with them, it's fab, and a good sized café! 👌🏻. The chips in the cafe were able to be made safely for my allergy son which was appreciated and the toddler craft morning's are really worth attending for little ones.
Leanne — Google review
We have visited Monkey Bizness on various occasions. Our daughter has gained so much confidence and loves exploring the slides, tunnels and loves playing football! The staff are always welcoming and the food is always fresh & hot. Ample parking and value for money.
Sian D — Google review
Took 2yo granddaughter. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. In general plenty to climb on and give the children a chance to use energy. Not sure about the 'toddler session ' that was advertised. Perhaps I misread it. Had a nice coffee and cake and granddaughter had a lunch box. Sandwich was freshly made and very presentable. Believe me the sandwiches in these boxes at other places can be dreadful. One star taken off due to lack of advertised toddler session and the fact I had to go looking for someone to serve in the cafe.
Aileen C — Google review
I cannot stress enough how much Teegan made this experience everything you could want and more. She went above and beyond for us, and she was so engaging for the kids. She ran a party for us and was fantastic! Would recommend for her service!

Fabulous day out, kids had so much fun, but the best thing was the food!!! The wraps were wicked, and the kids burger meals were fantastic. Try the Rhubarb and Custard cake, its lovely! The food area was spotless and the staff were so friendly. Thank you Juliet for the amazing food and service x

Action Stations is an indoor arena located in Portsmouth, Hampshire, offering a naval-themed experience with a variety of interactive attractions for families. It features activities such as laser tag, obstacle courses, climbing towers, and simulators. Children can enjoy the Sky Tykes rope course designed specifically for toddlers and preschoolers. The venue also includes an indoor play area called Nelsons Navy where kids can embark on nautical adventures.
Grandchildren loved it. Ages - 8, 6, 4 and 2. Lots of children but not overcrowded. Nice range of physical activities and a drumming activity! Clean toilets available. And a little gift shop.
Sonia F — Google review
Still closed in October 2025, the contents of the Royal Marines Museum formerly in Eastney are the upcoming attractions for this venue. Till then the little boats and the boat displays are still there and can be enjoyed in the Summer months. Good fun for the family and one which can be enjoyed as a spectator from the road towards HMS Victory. Toilets are in a nearby building as is a restaurant and memento shop. Wheelchair access to the dockyard is fine with a golf cart to move you if preferred.
Nigel H — Google review
Went to action stations to play laser tag with a few friends and had a blast! We were running a bit late and they were very accommodating, changing our timeslots for us without any issues. We were the only ones booked onto our timeslots which was perfect! Please be aware, if you're over 30 you may feel a bit knackered after! 😅
Francesca P — Google review
This is a great place to take the kids, there's so many fun things for them to do, there's mini assault courses, simulators and a bit of dress up too, all that and there's a laser quest, a great way to get those little ones running about and all tuckered out.
Rob A — Google review
Excellent activities for kids to get their hands on and expel the energies built up while accompanying their parents walking 'round old boats in the historic brickyards. Brilliantly conceived with a good range of activities, including a really good cinema.
Ian J — Google review
Looks great with all the motorboats flying around in the lake at the front. Plenty to do inside.

Was great fun at Laser Quest. We had a birthday party for our 7 year old, and they loved it. Staff was very helpful every step of the way, and even let us adults play for free with the boys during the second round! Was a great experience and we will definitely be booking again.
Caitlin W — Google review
This place is brilliant not only for kids but also adults, we go at least once a month and it's great challenge for everyone. Laser quest is extra but well worth the money, the more games you play cheaper it is, only negative is sometimes the guns or other part of equipment are not working, other than that this place is wonderful

The park features old brick war shelters that kids enjoy climbing on and provides stunning vistas extending to Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight on clear days. Families can explore signposted walks, historical remnants, and numerous opportunities for children's adventures.
Lovely quiet walk for families who would like to feed the ducks and swans. Great for dog walkers too as plenty of woodland for the doggies to investigate.

Great views all the way over to Portsmouth and Isle of Wight on clear days. Went on boxing day for a dog walk with family as a nice afternoon excursion. Found the muddy trail exhilarating and exciting from all of the dirty paws and boots they caused. The puppy had the most fun exploring every puddle and galavanting about. Lovely local country park to spend a day in.

Outdoor Activities
Lee-on-Solent Beach is a safe spot for swimming and features a Splashpark and arcade on its seafront. The beach has pebbles but offers clean walkways, access to shops, and great views of the Isle of Wight. Visitors can observe ships, container ships, and surfers passing through Southampton's waters. The calm waters make it an ideal place for collecting shells while enjoying Art Deco buildings that add charm to the parade and local area.
This is a wonderfully quiet beach which belies its close proximity to Gosport and Portsmouth. It offers great views across to the Isle of Wight. There is plenty of free, unrestricted car parking but in side streets - not the seafront which is metered.
Stuart H — Google review
Enjoyed a sunny morning walk along the prom at Lee-on-Solent which has plenty of seats to stop and watch the comings and goings on the water. Rounded our walk off with a coffee and cake at the cafe.
Susan L — Google review
Always a good day out. Superb views over the Solent. Shops and cafes, ice cream, at rhe south eastern end. Plenty of options to walk, either from the quieter Hillhead end or from Lee itself.
Peter W — Google review
Lee-on-the-Solent is a charming coastal spot on the south coast of England that offers a relaxing and peaceful seaside experience. The beach itself is very clean and well-maintained, making it an excellent destination for a quiet walk or a casual afternoon by the sea. However, it’s important to note that the beach is mostly pebbly rather than sandy, so it might not be ideal for sunbathing or barefoot walks. Still, the overall scenery more than makes up for it. One of the best features of Lee-on-the-Solent is the number of benches available along the promenade. These are perfectly placed to take in the stunning views of the sea, especially on a clear day when you can spot ships in the distance and enjoy the fresh breeze. It’s a great place to sit with a coffee or lunch and just watch the world go by. The beach is also dog-friendly, as long as your pet is kept on a lead. It’s a nice place for a relaxed walk with your dog while still respecting other beachgoers. The area feels safe, family-friendly, and not overly crowded. Parking is reasonably priced — two hours cost around £3 at the time of writing, and the car park is conveniently located just a short walk from the promenade. There are also a few cafes and ice cream shops nearby, making it easy to spend a couple of hours enjoying the surroundings. Overall, Lee-on-the-Solent is a lovely choice for a peaceful coastal visit. It may not be a traditional sandy beach, but its cleanliness, accessibility, and beautiful views make it a worthwhile stop for both locals and visitors.
Viola B — Google review
Lovely long strip to walk along the coastline. Plenty of places to grab a bite to eat. Honesty book stand near carpark with loads books for all reading genres. Will definitely go back for many day outings.

Nice and tidy beach with a lots of car park spaces around. Small splash park for the kids as well as playground so kids can spend nice time. Opposite the beach there is a Tesco, nice cafe with really tasty ice creams. This is nice place to practice paddle boarding and kayaking. Good place to spend time with friends and family.

HMS Alliance is a WWII-era submarine located at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Visitors can explore the museum on board, complete with sound effects and a working periscope. The Royal Navy Submarine Museum offers intimate private dinners aboard the original World War Two submarine or larger events at the Grand Magazine in the Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower. The narrowness of HMS Alliance may make it feel rushed for some visitors, and wheelchair accessibility is limited.
A great experience to visit HMS Alliance, a Second World War submarine. You enter at the bow section and walk through the length of the sub exiting at the stern taking in all elements between. I found it a rich & rewarding experience.
Nigel S — Google review
It is part of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. It can only be visited as part of a guided tour. As a result, even if you have a ticket that includes all the museums in Gosport and the Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth, you still have to go to the museum ticket office for an appointment. The bad part is this is not written anywhere... and I found it out only after standing in line for about 10 minutes at the access stairs to the submarine, right after we got off the waterbus that brought us from Portsmouth. Anyway, I lost some time but I got over it. Access is done in relatively small groups, but, in my opinion, still a bit too big for how tight the place is. If you want to take pictures (as was my case) you have to stay a little behind the group, otherwise you won't be able to get an OK frame because of the crowding. The problem is that, in this case, you lose out on interesting explanations. In addition, you are also pressed by the next group, which comes from behind. Anyway, the visit is well worth it, it's very interesting!
Paul C — Google review
Absolutely amazing, I was blown away by the engineering of it all and also the presentation of all the different quarters! I liked it so much that I will go back again and really take my time!
Alexander V — Google review
First of.... It may not be accessible for people with disabilities or fears but then it was not designed for that purpose. If you are able to do the tour.....DO IT. The guides were absolutely passionate about there work. It's pretty impressive on the inside as well as the outside. When you see how much goes into making one of these it usb pretty impressive. You get the feeling that these guys or heroes had some amazing camaraderie between them. Would I have been a submariner.....I'll never know, but my hat goes off to these guys. GET ON BOARD
Darren A — Google review
Very privileged to have enjoyed a guided tour hosted by an extremely well informed retired submarriner who had actually served on the vessel, Fascinating! Highly recommended.
Philip B — Google review
Wonderful! We had a great time, learned a lot and marveled at how difficult and sacrifice it required to be part of the crew. The guide was a veteran, with great knowledge and a nice way to explain.
H T — Google review
Fantastic piece of Royal Navy history. It's worth the time to explore this amazing submarine. Be careful if you're tall as with any submarine the corridors are very low. There's staff inside here to answer all your questions about the history of this amazing submarine.
T.H. G — Google review
Once again Portsmouth historic dockyard has exiled. Brilliant day out. Friendly staff who know there stuff. At least one of them have served on HMS Alliance. It did feel rushed just because of the narrowness and the fact that everyone had to stay together. Wow I cannot believe people used to work in these. What a different world we live in today. Tiny inside wheelchairs won't fit. If you can't pick your leg up higher thanks a foot then it's a no go I'm afraid.

Alver Valley Country Park, nestled in the heart of Gosport, offers a picturesque setting for a family outing. The park features woodlands, meadows, and rivers to explore, along with amenities like a play area for kids and a fishing lake. With its vast network of footpaths and cycleways, visitors can enjoy outdoor activities while taking in panoramic views. The park also boasts an adventure playground and BMX track, making it suitable for all ages.
This is a great place to take your kids, there is a variety of apparatus that will keep them busy for hours. The play area is separated for young and older kids. Not far from the play area is a cafe and toilets. Car park space is at the front of this park with limited spaces. Well worth a visit.
Liakat K — Google review
One of my children's favourite places to visit. The playground is big and well equipped for different ages. There are nice paths around, perfect for a little walk or cycle. The cafe on site is good, but csn get very busy at peak times so expect long queues. The toilets were clean last time we visited.
Lily K — Google review
So lucky to have this place of beauty here in Gosport and so close to the sea. So many tracks and paths to follow and lots of parking spaces one of which you have to pay so check out the free ones first, they are on both sides of the park. Very well looked after and generally tidy apart from some sad people who do not give a damn about common decency of taking your rubbish with you, instead just toss it to the ground for the decent people to pick up. Overall a fantastic place to spend an afternoon bird watching, exploring or even use the cycle tracks .
Graeme B — Google review
Large park area with a cafe next door selling all sorts of snacks and drinks. Nice shrubbery with lots of trails to follow. Parking spaces are decent in number though plenty of users had trouble staying in the lines. It wasn't too busy so wasn't a problem, parking charges themselves are a bit pricy at 1.70 and hour.
Luke O — Google review
If you're after a fantastic spot to stretch your legs (and maybe your dog's too!), you really can't go wrong with Alver Valley Country Park. Honestly, it's a bit of a hidden gem around here. There are loads and loads of trails winding all over the place, so you can have a proper wander and explore different routes each time you go. It's brilliant for dog walkers – plenty of space for them to have a good run around. They've also got a really nice area set up for kids, which is always a bonus if you've got little ones in tow. And get this, it's super handy because it's right near a garden centre, so you could easily combine a nice walk with a bit of plant shopping! The only slightly funny thing – and maybe something to bear in mind – is that there aren't any public toilets for humans in the park itself. So, just a little heads-up on that front! But honestly, that's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. For a lovely outdoor space with great walking and a nice vibe, Alver Valley Country Park is definitely worth checking out.
Pete B — Google review
Great for a longish dog trek, we parked in the east car park and walked for a good hour hoping to see a cafe or ice cream van but turned back a little disappointed. Lots of off lead dog walkers and open spaces.
Rusty T — Google review
Every time we come here this park is worse. Was so lovely but clearly too exposed and not protected so it's prone to vandalism. You'd think with the cost of the car park they would have the funds to sort this out quickly but standard maintenance is slow and now the main draws for the park are out of operation.
Cher — Google review
Unfortunately some of the park equipment suffered from arson on the 21st May. It suffered a significant damaged both of the structures which may be beyond repair.
