Chichester Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is a Norman edifice located in Chichester. It offers Church of England services and features a stunning Marc Chagall window. The cathedral is renowned for its grand scale, with local lore suggesting that all 23,000 citizens of Chichester could fit within its walls simultaneously. Visitors can enjoy free guided tours and explore the on-site cafe and gift shop.
Beautiful and interesting! Very friendly staff and one of the less Cathedrals were you don't have to pay exorbitant entry prices. Donations are welcomed, totally fair!!!

Chichester Cathedral – Timeless and Tranquil Chichester Cathedral is a stunning blend of Norman and Gothic architecture, with soaring arches, intricate stonework, and a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection. Entry is free, though donations are welcome, and the space feels both sacred and accessible. Highlights include the Marc Chagall stained glass window, Roman mosaics beneath the floor, and the tomb that inspired Philip Larkin’s poem An Arundel Tomb. The free-standing medieval bell tower is a rare feature, and the guided tours are well worth joining for deeper insight. Whether you're drawn by history, art, or quiet contemplation, it’s a beautiful stop in the heart of the city — dignified, welcoming, and full of quiet surprises.

Wonderful gothic style cathedral. Many modern pieces are to be found inside from the last century which allows for a good balance of new and old. Entrance is free but a donation is suggested plus you can also purchase a range of gifts from the Cathedral shop.
Rob F — Google review
Beautiful piece of architecture. It's dog friendly, and entrance is free unless you want to donate towards the cathedral upkeep. Cannot visit Chichester and miss this gem.
Gr3at W — Google review
I've visited the Cathedral for Choral services over the years, but today I had the opportunity to just wander around at my own pace and actually notice things I hadn't noticed before. Although not a large Cathedral, Chichester is still impressive. Highlights include historic artwork and tapestries and Marc Chagall's stained glass window. There is a section of flooring showing Roman mosaics. The bell tower stands separately to the Cathedral, which I think may be unique The grounds are beautiful and there is a stall with cameras monitoring the progress of the resident falcons and their chicks.
Debbie M — Google review
Beautiful cathedral with stunning architecture. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Alli S — Google review
Simply magnificent. The building stands majestically in the centre of the town. Absolutely dominating the landscape. We felt drawn in whilst not being regular church goers this was akin to an evangelical experience. All my senses were heightened and I felt there was a higher spirit guiding me. I came out a changed man and will spend more time doing my charitable volunteering and supporting needy causes. Peace be with you.
Clive L — Google review
Stunning blend of history and architecture, with beautiful stained glass, intricate carvings, and a peaceful atmosphere. The free entry and welcoming staff make it a must-visit. Don’t miss the striking spire and serene gardens. A perfect spot for history lovers and quiet reflection.

Fishbourne Roman Palace and Gardens in Chichester is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It is the largest residential Roman building found in Britain, featuring an impressive collection of in situ mosaics dating back to around AD 75-80. The palace also boasts recreated Roman-style gardens with authentic plants from the Roman period. Visitors can explore the vast excavated villa, marvel at the floor mosaics, and participate in learning workshops.
This was a great glimpse into Roman History. The museum gives an interesting timeline, with many artefacts. The mosaics are amazing and you can see them in situ quite close up from walkways. Incredibly what you see is only a fraction of the Palace. The gardens are lovely and there is parking and a decent cafe.
Debbie M — Google review
Amazing place! First you walk through a small museum with the information boards and the artefacts displayed. Then you follow a walkway to admire the mosaics. After that there's the garden with information boards about the palace that dominated this place 2000 years ago. Just fascinating!
Patricia S — Google review
Must see place if you are interested in roman Britain. Big collection of the artefacts and lots of floor mosaic to enjoy. The museum itself is not dog friendly, but if you take turns, you can spend time in the gardens.
Gr3at W — Google review
Visiting the Roman Palace at Fishbourne was a truly wonderful experience. The site is perfectly maintained, and the reconstruction of the gardens is beautiful, created in line with what is known about Roman culture and society. However, what impressed me the most were the mosaics inside. They are preserved in a remarkable way and offer a fascinating and varied insight into Roman artistic culture and the use of mosaic decoration. The archaeologists have done an outstanding job in replicating what life must have been like at the time, making this place an authentic and captivating journey into the past. Absolutely worth visiting.
Laura B — Google review
My brain wasn't ready for the astonishing existence of this place and the profound secrets that it holds. It is literally mind altering to see it and read the information so excellently provided, and, as we did, to meet an eminent architect who happened to be working as a volunteer that day, who allowed us to handle artifacts that were handled by Romans 2,000 years ago! The incalculable scope and importance of this ancient site, which was only uncovered in the mid-1960s, has left me reeling. I can't stop thinking about the courage, ambition, brilliance, discernment, and audacity of the Roman conquerors of the first century, (and wondering what has become of us as a species since then.) Don't miss it!

Updated 20250626 Another lovely day here. Again a fabulous informative really by a staff member (didn't catch her name sorry) with much embarrassment when I identified an amphora handle as a knee joint. Hohum. Also lovely to talk to the conservator who had just finished fixing a delightful little jet hair pin. Just wonderful to spend time with people who love their jobs. Calm informative and peaceful this place. Informative boards in the museum, lovely to walk over the various hypocausts and mosaics. As a school trip we were entertained and educated by Tom whose encyclopaediac knowledge of Roman clothes and armour brought the artifacts to life. Some of the signs are a bit tired hence the four stars, so folks get yourself down there to give more money to this place so they can update the boards. Little cafe is lovely, doing ice cream and very good coffee. I mean VERY good coffee.
G H — Google review
Absolutely incredible to see 2000 year old mosaics! The staff are so passionate about the experience and the purpose of the museum. I felt so welcome. Yes, the interpretation is a little dated but most people don’t realise how expensive it is to refresh. Balanced against the overall costs that the organisation must face in conservation, buildings maintenance and staff pay, they are really doing the best they possibly can. I would go every week to support them if I could. I booked online, and opted to gift aid my ticket. On arrival the lovely lady told me that this meant my ticket was now an annual ticket.
Lyndsay R — Google review
Great place for the UK if you want to see some real roman finds. Well presented little museum, but the star is the hall built over the roman palace, with some noteworthy mosaics and informative panels to understand more about the original building. Decent cafe and shop on site too.

Chichester Festival Theatre is a modern hexagonal theater that can accommodate 1200 audience members and hosts an annual festival. Situated in the vibrant city of Chichester, it is known for its exceptional productions and community engagement. The theater's bold thrust stage design makes it one of England's most remarkable playhouses. Its annual summer festival season runs from April to October, attracting over 200,000 attendees and often leading to West End transfers.
We saw the last performance of Top Hat on Saturday and what an amazing performance it was too! Totally faultless and witty to the end. Everything dance was so very precise. Outstanding! Thank you. Chichester is my family home and I have been coming to the theatre since a young girl. Wonderful theatre!
LoriB — Google review
A diverse range of shows on offer here, which I would think will appeal to a wide range of people. Tidy modern interiors and a good view of the stage (even from the relatively cheap seats) give a more intimate feel to the performances than you might otherwise expect. Plentiful parking in the adjacent Northgate Car Park.
Mark D — Google review
This theatre is nothing short of fantastic. I’m a regular user of their Prologue tickets for 16-30yr olds, so I have experienced this theatre many times. The seating in the stalls and circle gives an amazing view no matter where you sit. The foyer area is a lovely place to be, and the shows they put on here never fail to be of the highest quality. This is my favourite theatre I’ve been to, and I don’t think it’s even possible to leave disappointed with your experience!
Henry R — Google review
Modern theatre in Chichester. Nice to go through. Easy access and for disabled people too. Could do with more toilets. Car park nearby but requires payment. Show at the time was "Top hat".
Ivo M — Google review
Fabulous show at The Minerva Theatre last night. The Choir. Awesome Theatre show, amazing actors, fabulous voices and great storyline. Staff at the Theatre are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The show was stopped partway through, due to a medical episode by an audience member. The staff and Choir actors handled everything professionally and with care and consideration. We wish the lady a speedy recovery. Overall a fabulous Theatre and I'll be back again as always. ☆☆☆☆☆

Wonderful evening with miriam and friends. All theatre staff helpful and friendly. Thank you. I return as often as i can, very convenient and lovely theatre.
Vicky B — Google review
Lovely Theatre. The production of Top Hat could have been better. The choreography was not really sophisticated enough for this style of musical. Some of the costumes did not seem to fit the performers well. The set and music were very good. Singing was adequate. I have to say that the audience loved it.
Madeleine S — Google review
Plenty of parking in nearby carpark, lovely staff, clean facilities and a lovely theatre. We drove all the way from West London to see Lord of the Flies after we had such a good experience watching The Sound of Music. Easily one of my favourite theatres. There's not really any bad seats in the place. Incredible views from all over

The Novium Museum is a modern museum located on the site of Chichester's ancient Roman baths. It houses thousands of artifacts, including mosaics, coins, sculptures, and statues. The museum has three floors, with the first floor showcasing remains of the Roman Baths and offering a video presentation on their construction. Visitors can also enjoy a cup of coffee while imagining the steamy rooms filled with ancient Romans.
We went to see the 'Born in the 80s' exhibition and it was so good to see so many things that reminded me of my childhood. The dressing up area was fun for the kids and loved playing the retro arcade machine (50p per game needed) and my skills have not stood the test of time! The film posters and toys section brought back many memories. The exhibition is not large, but neither is the cost to get in, and it was lovely to be reminded of all the 80s music, video and food. We'll worth a visit especially if you have teenagers to show them how we used to entertain ourselves back in the day.
Toby O — Google review
Nice museum to spend an hour. You can see the remains of an old Roman settlement which are well preserved. The I Grew Up in the 80s exhibition was good to see as I was born in this era there was an extra cost of £5.00 to see it but all goes to the museum.
Matt L — Google review
Absolute gem of a museum in the centre of this lovely city of Chichester. Really interesting, well presented, lots of interactive things to do also, library, videos to watch, gifts, postcards and maps....Parking nearby. The museum has large lifts. It's free but so worth a donation.
Carole J — Google review
What a wonderful place. We went to see a temporary exhibit (small cost) and the rest of the museum is free. I was stunned when i walked in and saw an entired floor of roman remains (bath house) ...pieces of a mosaic on the wall and many, many amazing pieces. Highly recommend heading over, the ground floor is great for seeing the roman past, 1st floor is good local hostory (very interesting- but warning it does contain human remains- bones) and a small exhibit room at the back which is currently about pride 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ in Chichester with personal stories and history/information. The top floor is currently devoted to the temporary exhibit 'i grew up in the 80's' -(on until 8/6/25) i highly recommend this for all ages whilst it is there and i really hope the museum will do a Ninties one soon as it was amazing!! From July 2025 they will have an exhibit on local company Shippam's (which some may know as Princes- think canned tuna and fish paste!) and how they were an integral part of the town. 👍
Sara R — Google review
On our last visit to Chichester, we saw there was an 80's exhibit at the museum. It was only a fiver to be transported back to that fabulous decade. Sights and sounds, a small dress up box and a video game with our favourites games of the day gave us a happy hour of recollection. It was nice to send photos to mother in law with the 'eh do remember these?' tag. It was interesting to see the Chichester history too, and the Roman remains were so beautifully displayed. I didn't take pictures of that though, no just lots of Atari, BT dial phones and us in shell suits with bum bags and bucket hats! 😂 Staff were cheerful, helpful and everywhere was clean and well presented. Definitely worth a visit to see what's on next.

Free entry, lots of bits of Chichester's history (including an extensive display of Shippham's involvement with the city) and an excellent view of the cathedral from the upper floor. What's not to like?

Pallant House Gallery, located in Chichester, is a cultural destination showcasing an extensive collection of modern British art from 1900 to today. The gallery features works by renowned artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Damien Hirst, and Patrick Caulfield. Visitors can explore the surrounding Pallants area with its distinctive Georgian architecture.
Wonderful gallery showing very thoughtful and talented art- properly curated and world class artists. Every time we go we see something new, and deepen our knowledge and curiosity. They also have a great cafe and bookshop. A definite must go if you are in Chichester and worth the trip! Go and go back again and again!

Mother and I visited the Dora Carrington and Patterns exhibition and thoroughly enjoyed it. A wonderful building with modern amenities and a delightful exhibition space - well curated and I learnt a lot about an interesting artist. Looking forward to visiting again - to explore both the existing collection and subsequent exhibitions.
Sam C — Google review
Pallant House Gallery was fantastic. The natural light really brought out the textures of the artworks and the quiet part of Chichester made the visit even more special. I enjoyed walking through the beautiful streets of Chichester city before and after the gallery. The special exhibition was brilliant and I was so absorbed in everything that I forgot to take pictures. Afterward, we enjoyed tea and cake at the lovely café with the option to sit inside or outside. A wonderful place for families.
Tshepiso M — Google review
A friend recommended this gallery for our visit to Chichester and I'm so glad they did - it's a real find. The building is lovely - part heritage house and part modern extension but they flow into each other seamlessly. The volunteers are friendly and helpful. The permanent collection of mostly 20th century British art is quite extensive and contains some very important and engaging pieces. We were also fortunate to be able to see the huge temporary exhibition of artists' pictures of other artists (on until November 2nd 2025) which has lots of interesting works.
Richard L — Google review
Fantastic, light and airy building with something to see for everyone. The natural light really made texture and fine detail come to life. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The cafe was exceptional and it was a beautiful day to sit outside in the courtyard. I came to see the Maggi Hambling Nightingale exhibition, breathtaking. The John Piper paintings in the museum collection were such a bonus for me. Also worth saying what an amazing bookshop they had, so many books floor to ceiling.
Andy D — Google review
Excellent mid sized gallery specialising in British 20th-century art, alongside some contemporary work. The permanent collection is displayed in a Georgian townhouse which has a very peaceful atmosphere. I found the staff to be lovely and helpful. Some very strong and recognisable works here.
Liance — Google review
Part is set in a beautiful early Georgian house, amongst the best in Chichester. It's one of the best places in the UK to see high quality 20th century art. Unfortunately the Georgian hose is virtually empty except for the artwork and so has lost its character on the inside. The £17 entry charge is a bit steep for what there is there unless you have a real interest in the sort of art they have on display
Mark S — Google review
Always nice to visit when in Chichester. Current exhibition is a bit meh aside from the gorgeous stair installation and a bit pricey though

Embark on a delightful journey along the Chichester Canal, where you can soak in stunning views of expansive farmland while keeping an eye out for fascinating wildlife such as butterflies, herons, and woodpeckers. You have the option to hop aboard one of the charming canal boats—either the Kingfisher or Richmond—on a scenic two-mile stretch between Basin and Donnington.
Finally finished the walk. Great time with friends. Made time go so fast. Go wear your wellies - makes you more carefree. When its muddy its kinda stressful with every step 😅

really nice walking from chichester to birdham. lots of interesting things along route, like turners bridge and the old tramway. theirs also nice nature. we saw an unusual wading bird, a cormarant, woodpecker and a family of deer in the nearby fields.

Beautiful walk, just be careful for the cyclists! They don’t slow down and expect you to get out of their way, and never say thank you ☺️
Serve A — Google review
Great walk with great views. You can walk all the way to Chichester harbor which is a 8 mile round trip. Plenty of wild life to see and very peaceful. If you are doing the full walk to Chichester harbor I personally think the first half is the best. With the second half the paths are not as good and it is a little overgrown in places
Chris W — Google review
Awesome place to get away from life for an hour or 2.. no cars, no screaming kids.. just peace and quiet. Lots of nature to see on a good day, boat tours and other activities to be found make it good for the family also
Ogion A — Google review
Lovely if you want to go for a long walk however it does seem a very long walk! Beautiful views however just beware of the angry swans as they are blocking the walk way and not letting people past without being nipped. Spoke to someone who said it is happening a lot.
H L — Google review
There is a 4-mile walk along the canal path from which you get views of Chichester Cathedral in the distance and see the local wildlife, including plenty of butterflies, coots and moorhens as well as swallows and terns swooping above the water. There are also barge cruises up and down the canal, which depart from the canal basin in Chcichester.

Cineworld Cinema - Chichester is a modern multiplex located in the Chichester Gate leisure complex, offering 10 screens that showcase the latest international blockbusters in both 2D and 3D formats. Visitors can enjoy spacious and comfortable seating with clear sound and amazing screens. The cinema is well-maintained and provides ample free parking.
"Enjoyable experience.! Temperature not too hot. Cinema clean no rubbish. Chair comfortable. Other users totally absorbed in the film. Nothing negative to affect the enjoyment of the film"

Sat through a 2.5hr performance of A Complete Unknown with the ceiling lights switched on throughout. We notified the staff and asked for this to be rectified but nothing was done. The sound in the cinema had a terrible reverb, too, and entrance to the film was delayed by 15 minutes past start time because of cleaning. Overall a very poorly managed cinema unfortunately.
J. — Google review
I'm only giving a 4 star as I have been spoilt by seat choice in another cinema. This cinema was tidy, smelt clean, staff were helpful, sound was good and view was good, seats were comfortable enough but young children need booster seats mainly because the seats fold a bit closed if the child doesn't weigh much, will visit again though
Kimcowdrey64 — Google review
We arrived late for our film, We purchased tickets on the self-serve machine, walked straight in, and sat down. The seats were very comfortable. We hadn't missed anything due to adverts.

Very busy. Sat in the imax. Comfy seats. Very loud. Didn’t buy any food so can’t comment. A good time was had by all. No complaints!
Mr T — Google review
Unfortunately our visit, on this occasion, was less than ideal. Staff members congregated at the end of the counter despite us clearly being stood at the till waiting to be served, and when one finally did come over she displayed some of the worst attitude I’ve ever witnessed from a customer service assistant. She huffed and puffed the whole time through serving us, and looked incredibly bothered that she had to do her job and assist us. Really put a dampener on our experience
A — Google review
We went to see a film in the IMAX screen. Movie, screen and sound was great! However, the cinema seems to have absolutely no air conditioning and as the movie progressed the cinema became hotter than the surface of the sun. We were both uncomfortably hot throughout most of the film and as the seats are leather, it was not a pleasant experience. We looked around for an employee to speak to after the film but as is typical in this particular cinema, there was no one to be seen and probably if we had found someone to speak to, they would not have cared. We have been to this cinema a lot since it's the closest one to us, but having recently visited the Gunwharf Quays Vue, with its reclining seats, glorious air con and cheaper tickets, I don't think we will be back to Chichester Gate.

Park
Located in the northeastern part of Chichester, Priory Park is a public park with lush greenery, a play area, and a bowls lawn. The park has an interesting history as it was once home to a monastery and even housed a castle. Recently, three well-preserved Roman Houses were discovered beneath the park. While dogs are not allowed, children can enjoy the play area, aviary, and cafe.
Is a medium sized park, but not much to do. There is a small playground, a cricket pitch & a small reflection garden with benches. Is part of the Chichester City Walls walk, which I'd recommend
Jonathan H — Google review
A 13 century gate way under the field near the bowling green. This park is packed with history definitely worth a visit. There’s also cricket during the summer so a little gem in the centre of Chichester.
Pete — Google review
Priory Park in Chichester is a truly beautiful green space, full of character and charm. The park is steeped in history, surrounded by ancient Roman walls and overlooked by the impressive Guildhall, which makes it feel special compared to many other public parks. Walking through the grounds, you’re met with wide open lawns, colourful flower beds in the warmer months, and plenty of mature trees that provide shade and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s a place that feels perfect for a gentle stroll, a picnic with friends, or simply sitting back and taking in the surroundings. The park is also well maintained, with paths that are easy to navigate and facilities that make it welcoming for families, couples, and visitors of all ages. There are tennis courts and a children’s play area, so there’s something for everyone, whether you want to relax or get a bit more active. The central location means it’s easy to stop by when exploring Chichester, and it’s an ideal spot to take a break from the bustle of the city centre. The only slight downside is the number of “no dogs” signs scattered around the park. While it keeps the lawns clean and family-friendly, it does mean dog walkers miss out on enjoying this lovely space with their pets. Overall, though, Priory Park is a gem in Chichester — pretty, peaceful, and worth a visit for anyone looking to enjoy a slice of nature in the heart of the city.

Beautiful park with cricket ground. It id's having surrounded the city walk wall for a gorgeous city view. Cafe and restrooms are available.

This park used to have a real purpose back in the day of the ‘Real & Jazz Festival’ then with the officious local residents preferring peace and quiet and relatively boring existences it now only has the ‘Fenwicks’ cafe to offer. So if you prefer white bread, undressed Salads, pale and greasy bacon, watery teas and coffee as opposed to Blondie, James Brown, The Human League, washed down with plenty of the best beverages money can buy then this is the place for you. 🎼Take it to the Bridge🎼😎💐🍻☕️

An oasis of calm and peace. There's lots of history here, the park is partly surrounded by Roman Wall and has Norman remains from a motte and bailey. There a nice coffee shop with outside space to sit and enjoy the views across the park.

A wonderful place to visit! We attended a family fun day and it was excellent. There were 3 different film showings in the planetarium - we saw 2 of these with a break in-between. Moon Landings and the Hunt for Alien Life. Both very good and visually very exciting. All the volunteers were excellent and very friendly. We were shown different kinds of rocks and fossils, maps of Mars showing evidence of rivers, handled meteorite samples, and got to look at the sun through specialist telescopes. Other activities included: dressing up, giant night sky jigsaw, and crafts including colouring in, making a comet, and visiting the ISS using VR headsets. The kids enjoyed themselves very much. Gift shop was small and excellent: 95% under £4, good pocket money prices. Full disabled access, inc toilets.

A hidden gem! We loved our first visit to the Planetarium. The presenter was enthusiastic and clear, sharing lots of information in an accessible way. It is an hour of listening to someone talk with lots to take in, so keep that in mind if you're someone who struggles to stay engaged! But for our group comprised of three generations, everyone took something away with them. The car ride home was full of milky-way wonderment and the kids want to see if they can spot the space station this weekend 🎊

First time coming here but definitely won't be the last. Went to the show about the summer sky and learnt so much. The man doing the presentation was excellent and kept you interested throughout the whole show. I went with 3 adults and 3 children aged from 14 to 16 and we all enjoyed it and were still having discussions about what we learned 2 days later. If your in the area go along, you won't regret it. There is a small gift shop with very reasonable prices as well.

My 9 years old daughter had spectacular experience at the South downs planetarium. She hasn't stop talking about the interesting facts even the next day. Very friendly knowledgeable team. Educational and fun. Great souvenir shop with child friendly prices (perfect for pocket money skills) and gifts related to the space & planets. If you visiting in the colder months bring extra layer of clothes. We look forward to coming back and I can highly recommend this place.

Very educational place to visit. The dome is really impressive to sea the stars and Mars landing, etc. But it does have a lot of ppt slides in the show.

Visitors can enjoy an accessible trail starting at the Chichester canal basin, with amenities such as a cafe and toilets available at the beginning of the walk.
Lovely quiet walk easily do 10k, we parked at the marina and walked to Hunston then to Chichester along the canals and back. Yes you have to cross a busy road but it is okay just be patient, once you are on the canal walk it is very peaceful.

We recently went on a canal boat ride along the Chichester Ship Canal aboard the Kingfisher, and it was such a lovely experience. I took my two children along, and they absolutely loved it! The gentlemen in charge of the boat were so friendly and engaging with both the kids and the adults — they really made the trip feel special. Having just moved to the area, I was touched by how welcoming they were. They made me feel like part of the community straight away, which meant a lot. Thank you for an incredible day out! The canal ride itself was calm, peaceful, and really enjoyable. We spotted lots of wildlife along the way, and it was such a relaxing way to spend part of the day. I’d highly recommend it to anyone — whether you’re new to the area like me, or just looking for a gentle, scenic escape. A really lovely day out!

We had a fun, inexpensive day out for my husband's birthday. It was a lovely and relaxing little cruise along the Canal on a beautiful sunny day. The staff on the boat were friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the Canal.

We had a nice day out in Chichester and visited the Ship Canal. We were excited to the a boat ride and support this great cause. Despite the fact that the setting for the experience are nice, the boat ride could do with a bit more. Some basic commentary about the history of the canal and some facts about nature would be appreciated. As a result of lack of engagement during the ride, whole felt a bit flat and long (and boring).

Peqceful 4 mile walk from the Basin to the marina (1 ½ hours), perfect for walking (dogs included, on leads) & bike riding, spots for fishing Can see the Cathedral from a few places, a couple of roads to cross Cafe at the Basin, comes in handy Close to the train & bus station 12 checkpoints (12 couldn't be found), but by the time you reach the marina, you're basically at the end Swans, ducks & moorhens scattered across the canal

The atmosphere is lively with music and smoke effects enhancing the experience in their laser game arena. With over 100 stalls offering fresh produce at Northgate Market nearby, you can easily make a day out of your visit.
Went recently since they have taken over the unit next door and expanded. They now have karaoke and escape rooms plus extra bowling lanes and pool tables. Great value for money, plus daily deals. We had a great time and happy there’s somewhere local for young people to spend time. You Can also order food and drink from the QR code to your lane or table which we loved

Worst experience ever. Do not waste your lovely time and money at this place, terrible service and the staff is so rude, especially the manager . We bought bowling games and drinks online through the Frenzy Friday promo on Friday the 3rd of January, our slot was between 1800hrs to 2000hrs. We got there at 1750 and after checking in we were told to wait for 10mins and they will show us were to go, but we waited for 30mins and no one came and they were just avoiding us, until I had to go and ask again and the response wasn't very good and professional. However, after another 10 more minutes they managed to give us our bowling space for 4 adults. You can't believe what happened next, they came with all the drinks we had ordered for the night all at once and the beers and drinks were all opened, and I asked the waiter why did they do that, because no one in their right state of mind would bring 8 pints of draught beer at once for 2 people, how are we going to have all that beer at once? The waiter responded that's what we do here when you order online, and I told them you never mentioned that to us, neither is it mentioned online...because we now have our beers opened in the public, and people are just passing by, coughing and whatever and our drinks not covered. He then called the manager who just came and said am afraid there is nothing we can do and if you don't need the beer we can just take it back and put it in the bar for no refund. I then tried to reason with her to at least cover our beers and put them in a fridge to maintain the cold temperature but she refused and said to us we were not being reasonable and threatened us saying she will call her 2 security guards to throw us out of the area. She was very rude, that's not how you treat customers. When the waiter said let me call the manager she can help you with what have happened, I thought our issue was now going to be attended by someone professional and it's going to be solved, but I was wrong...the situation just turned for the worst. The waiter was far much better, he was polite and understood the situation that had happened, he should have just dealt with the matter himself. Maybe the manager was just having a bad day and she decided to pour it out on us, we don't know...but overally that's the worst bowling place I have been to, avoid it if you can.

7/9/25: Update on the below. After receiving the response from Tenpin to contact their customer service team, I did so on the 27th of August and have had no response to date. Not great. The company continues to disappoint. Very disappointed avoid if you don't want to go home unhappy. My son very diligently saved up his arcade tickets over the summer for a specific toy advertised as 5000 tickets (we both saw the value on prior visits). When he finally won enough tickets he excitedly went to collect the toy only to find the number of tickets had been put up to 6250. We tried our best to explain the situation but were told we are in the wrong and mistaken. We both knew we weren't mistaken and my 7 year old son went home upset. We acknowledge that the ticket value must have been in error on our previous visits but it was stated as 5000 and hence that was the amount aimed for by my son. For the overall amount of money spent and for the difference it seemed cruel and unnecessary. We even spent a further £10 winning another 500 tickets but they wouldn't meet in the middle, not even as a gesture of goodwill and understanding to avoid a child being disappointed.

Went as a group of six to the laser game in the Tenpin bowling alley. It was super simple to do and loads and loads of fun. The actual arena you play in is only quite small, but has lots of hiding places and windows to shoot through, and for just six of you playing it was the perfect size. It is quite dark, and they pump in smoke and music. You play for half an hour which we found was the right amount of time and I felt that at just £30 for six people, at time of writing, it was excellent value. The staff were friendly and their instructions were easy to understand. I would definitely go again and highly recommend.
Bryony D — Google review
Man at door. So rude. Let others in but not us. Just wanted to play a game of pool but we were not allowed in the security guard barricaded the door and would not let us in under any circumstance. We got mistreated, misjudged, escorted out,bad customer service. Would give 0 stars but forced to give 1 star. Tenpin is a nice place where me and my friends regularly hang out for fun on a friday night but will not be returning as these people are vile and rude. We are all human we are all equal but in tenpin you are nothing. When writing the review it asked us how long it took to enter we did not enter at all apart from getting escorted out and forced to leave the premises. Why has this happened? I do not know what is it about two girls that just want to enjoy a Friday night after a long week of work man at the door insulted us severely and we are very offended. He let our friends in, but not us again I shall ask what is it about us? That makes us not worthy entrance into tenpin
Summer S — Google review
This was great fun, even for the older folk because the lanes have bumpers and there is a free-standing ball-guide which means those who are unable to throw the ball can just roll it down the metal guide. We were a little concerned about the onsite pub as players could land themselves in trouble on the lanes after a few too many pints.....
Roamin G — Google review
Come here semi regularly since the fantastic refurb. Slighly annoyed last time because about 6 lanes were in use at 2pm on a weekday but they were bunched up on one side so I asked for a lane not next to anyone. Was told by the young lady that there were bookings (as if people book specific lanes) and she just puts people where she can. So she sandwiched us between two groups even though the other half was empty. Only 1 other group came in after us the whole time we played our 3 games. She put us with a 4 and we were a 2. This level of pettiness for no reason is ridiculous. I'd suggest to train your staff better on what is a suitable level of customer service. Also, you only do xl fingers for I think 14 and up. It would be great if you could do xl for lighter balls for my cursed chubby fingers.

Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester is a versatile leisure facility offering various activities for all ages. Families can enjoy the 33m swimming pool and a separate kids' pool with slides, ensuring fun for little ones. While some visitors suggest booking in advance, others appreciate the range of amenities available at the pool area.
The swimming pool with the slide looks so fun - we haven't been yet! Active Antz is great for little ones too. Such a huge space with a massive bouncy castle. My 2 year old loved it.
Emma W — Google review
I've had a membership here for just over 8 months and I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. - The gym is now newly renovated but lots of the equipment is 'unusable' or 'out of order' regularly. - Fitness classes are always overbooked and many people enter the classes without even booking. for example the Pilates classes have a maximum of 30 spaces, it is always overbooked with people on the 'waiting list' and nearly every class has more than the maximum ammount of booked people in there. - Some of the staff are very kind and helpful but others seem exasperated and aggravated when asked for help with something. - The swimming pool when booking as a member is free of charge but only for an hour if you don't want to swim in lanes. - The so called 'spa' area is very poorly managed and outdated, it is always PACKED with people who don't have a membership or haven't booked to go in. Also, there are 2 saunas, 1 of which is hardly ever turned on when it is so extremely busy in there. many times I have come purely for the purpose of going to the spa and just ended up going home. - And last but not least the changing room facilities are absolutely disgusting. There is mold, hair, algae and other mysterious substances everywhere. They look like they haven't been properly cleaned in years. Half the locks are falling off the doors and everything is so filthy I am appalled. The filth in the changing rooms is not just a one time thing or created in a day by the people who come here. There is even mold growing in some of the soap dispensers in the showers!! I really hope that Everyone Active puts their priorities in order because this is truly appalling and I am not the first person to post about this.
Gallavich — Google review
I used to swim here 3-5 times a week as a teenager. Every day there were lanes available from around midday to 4:30. No one hour booking session nonsense. The swimming pool is appallingly managed. Certain days they will simply close it to the public at 12:30pm or 1pm. You only get to book a lane for 1 hour, and 8 people to a lane is common. Up to 14 people? Ridiculous. Swimmers are boxed in like cattle. They made these changes following the lockdowns as they saw an opportunity to make more profit. I cannot overstate how awful everyone active are. A really massive shame, as it's the best and largest pool for miles. I really wish they would make some changes.
Fionan — Google review
The pool is great, but the changing facilities are extremely dirty. I visited for the first pool session of the day today with my baby daughter. The baby changing table was thick with grime and had pooey wet wipes in it. The drain was blocked with an inch of hair and the floor looks like it's never been cleaned. The whole place needs to be deep cleaned and then regularly cleaned throughout the day. It's basic hygiene.
Henry C — Google review
Male changing facilities in the health suite are generally quite unacceptable. With a ‘good enough’ approach to its maintenance. Multiple times I’ve been told it’s cleaned bi-weekly. But the same dust clumps and mold, hair is still present across the showers and unpleasant odours remain. Both disabled or ‘private’ showers have no locking facilities on them and have been removed due to the locks being faulty and people becoming trapped in there as the door won’t open. So the ‘good enough’ approach was to remove the locks entirely, which has now been in place for 4-5 months. Half the lockers do not work correctly and users have to be trained as a locksmith to have the key at the right angle enough so the coin doesn’t fall through to the floor, with many lockers not having doors at all. The health suite sauna and steam room have the same unpleasant odours in them and maintenance, generally seems to be to hose it down and leave the door open at the end of the day. 2 saunas and 1 steam room is what is listed. But 1 sauna is always off to ‘conserve energy’ some weeks ‘broken’ the next week or not hot at all, you regularly fine 8 people crammed into one sauna with 4 more people waiting on the chairs to go in. The floors are slimy and slippery and although there is a sign to say ‘no oils’ in the sauna or steam rooms, they are regularly brought in to counteract the smells which are present in the facilities. Although signs outside say no under 18/16’s past this point, regularly on a Monday and Tuesday you’ll find school/ college kids with no membership go in to the health suite and start messing around. Poorly maintained with the bare minimum cleaning. poorly managed with a spit in the face for people who pay more for the extra facilities. Gyms been renovated which is nice.. except the air con does not work so it’s 25-28 degrees in the main room, a lot of attachments are still old, with split rubber on handle attachments and the lack of carabiner clips make it a chore to do any cable work. 2 treadmills have been broken for the past month and water fountains regularly out of service.
Andrew — Google review
At the moment we are very dissatisfied with the Westgate Centre. Yet again our granddaughter has been let down by being contacted at the last moment to inform her that her 1 to 1 swimming lesson had to be cancelled owing to a member of staff being unavailable. We are paying over £100 per month for four 1 to 1 lessons and we were promised that there would be a staff member available for today 23/3. But there wasn’t! She has had no end of different swim teachers, all with different teaching abilities. If she is to attain a good standard at swimming, she needs to attend a lesson every week and for the teaching to be consistent which, when having numerous different teaching staff, isn’t happening. We hope the swim manager is able to sort something out to our satisfaction for future weeks.
Roger T — Google review
Absolutely horrified by the filthy changing rooms . The whole changing room area needs a power shower clean and THEN a regular hourly clean. There is no excuse for great piles of human hair on baby changing facilities and filthy floor. I spent £17.80 for two adults and a 7 month old for an hour. The temperature of the pool was too cold for our baby ( a degree and a half lower than we had been told it would be) so we had to go home and get her thermal swim top thus missing half an hour of the time for which we’d paid. BUT it was too cold for me at 76 to stay in for more than 15 mins anyway. ) it should be reported to health and safety! Such a disgrace!
Mary C — Google review
Extremely Disappointed — Avoid if You Value Consistency and Progress After investing over a year of time and money into swimming lessons for my daughter, I can confidently say it’s been a complete waste. She learned more in one week on holiday than she did in an entire year at this swim school. There has been absolutely no consistency — she’s had around 15 different teachers in that time, making it impossible for her to build confidence or make real progress. Each new teacher brought different approaches, and no one ever seemed to know her level or learning needs. After raising concerns (first being dismissed by a rude receptionist), I eventually received an apologetic response from the swim manager promising to look into it. But weeks and two more teacher changes later, there was still no progress report or even a holding update. I sent a final email to formally withdraw my daughter from lessons and express my disappointment — not even a courtesy reply. Just an automated message confirming cancellation of my Direct Debit. This place is unprofessional, disorganised, and shows zero respect for loyal customers. I strongly advise others to avoid wasting time and money here — there are better-run and more caring alternatives elsewhere.

Victoria G — Google review
I attempted to book using the Blue Light discount and checked the Flip Out website beforehand. Chichester was not listed as one of the locations restricted to only 1-hour sessions with the discount, so I reasonably assumed it applied to both 1- and 2-hour jumps. However, upon arrival, I was told the discount was only valid for a 1-hour session. This directly contradicts the information found on the Flip Out website — and confirmed by AI-based search tools — which clearly states which sites are limited, and Chichester is not included. This lack of clarity is unacceptable, especially given the high cost of the visit. For two children, a 2-hour session exceeded £50, which is difficult to justify for many families. On top of that, we were told we couldn’t use the trampoline socks we already had from a higher-quality park, and had to purchase Flip Out-branded socks — an additional and unnecessary cost. To add to the frustration, when I raised the issue with a staff member, he remarked, “Oh, I remember dealing with you before,” in a dismissive tone. This was not only unhelpful but also unprofessional. Clearer communication and better customer service are the very least that should be expected — especially when families are paying such premium prices.

Went with my brother and 4 kids this week. The facilities are great but it’s very hot inside . We were sweating just from sitting and watching the kids . Perhaps some air conditioning or fans to cool the place down would make it better ..or just open the windows!

Great place to wear out the kids and a free drink for spectating adults at a cost of £2.50 The art work on the walls with bright colours and the dimmed lighting makes the place look great. There is a cafe with an elevated seating area so you can chill with your coffee and keep an eye in your kids at the same time. We booked the early bird slot for 9 o’clock, my only disappointment was that they didn’t serve hot food at that time of day and the young lad serving was not very helpful at all. Just fancied a bacon roll or something.

Disappointing Experience at Flip Out Chichester…. Visited Flip Out Chichester recently and unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. The whole place felt dark and gloomy from the moment we walked in, which didn’t set a great tone for what should be a fun, energetic space. While the general cleanliness was acceptable, the overall condition of the facilities was really poor. Many of the trampolines looked heavily worn out and were literally taped together—definitely not what you’d expect from a venue like this. It felt far from safe or well-maintained. It’s clear the place is in serious need of refurbishment. The potential is there, but right now it just feels tired and neglected. Wouldn’t recommend unless they do some major updates.
Jack C — Google review
I had a great time at flip out today. It was very fun, the parkour part of the trampolines was enjoyable, plus the cafe staff where very nice and gave me free water as I needed it. If I had to say anything to improve, I would say the main bit could be a bit bouncier, as I think it’s not as bouncy as it used to be. Overall though, it was great and I would recommend to others to go.

I took my boy here for his 10th birthday last weekend. We had booked the neon party room and it didn't disappoint. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young man at the desk that couldn't have been more helpful. He explained everything clearly and hyped the kids up. We were taken to the party room and then into the trampoline area. The kids had a great time and staff were on hand to help when needed. A great place to have a party for the little ones 🎉 I will be coming here again very soon.

Went recently, there was sooo much black tape everywhere. Barely holding the trampolines together. Half of it was taped off and unusable. It's looking very rough and unsafe. We won't be back for a while. Hearing a lad died in Glasgow at one is more than enough for it to be a hard no.

Jungle Mania Play Centre in Chichester is a perfect spot for families with kids up to 11 years old. The center offers a dedicated area for babies and toddlers, ensuring their safety as they play on soft items and slides. The facility provides ample parking, friendly staff, and a variety of food and drink options. Despite its seemingly smaller size compared to other play areas, children always have a blast here and leave exhausted.
Very good experience. Went with son after school on Friday. Not too busy on a weekday. The place has a new manager who has been working really hard to make sure the place is clean and safe for the children. All the toilets have been deep cleaned, downstairs sitting area is really tidy and presentable and the bar area looks lovely. The play area itself is really good for kids and they have a separate area for babies. It's a really lovely soft play for kids to let off some steam and we will continue to go back. We bought a membership which works out very cheap and we can go every day if we wish. Highly recommended

We had such a lovely time it's the perfect size for my 4 year old and 2 year old I could have a coffee and still see them. Not to big like other we have visited! Clean and good price though I think a reward scheme or bundle would be great. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Highly recommended! Kelly the manager was the best and very passionate. Will be back again for shore! Thank you.

Good amount for kids to do. However the play area was very unclean. Dirt everywhere, high chairs were not clean. I’d advise parents to bring your own Milton wipes to clean down surfaces. Staff very kind however due to the play centre being very quiet 1-3 kids I would assume cleaning could take place. My child has a good time none the less

We booked to take our 4 year old and 10 month old here today. We walked straight in without being questioned because the staff are behind the till chatting and didn’t seem to pay attention to security of the place. I think it’s a poor set up that needs addressing. The play area that is supposed to be for babies/toddlers was filthy, with a broken and extremely dirty bouncer, and various other dirty/sticky items. The larger play area was also filthy, my socks were black within minutes and there was dirt down every crack. I saw in another review response that this has been subject to a deep clean and is now cleaned daily but I’d argue this is false or more training needs to be had on cleaning. We were so shocked by the state of the place that we left after about 15/20 minutes and went next door. Another odd thing was that the lighting was so low in there. There is no atmosphere. It’s not an inviting place for children or adults and felt more like a social club/bar with a soft play just over the front door. The toilets upstairs were out of order due to being cleaned (unsure why as nothing else had been…) so only the downstairs was in use but even at 10am it was already dirty as if it hadn’t been clean and grime has just been building up over time. My partner paid £20 and the place is not fit for purpose. We have emailed head office requesting a refund as we would never return after our experience and I would advise others to read reviews before booking! I’m not sure this place should remain open, it seems to need to be closed, get new staff, get deep cleaned and replace everything that is broken and start again. Very unsafe and unhygienic.

Fab soft play, highly recommend! Very clean and the manager (Kelly) was very attentive. Equipment was spotless and Kelly welcomed everyone in which isn't a service you usually get in a soft play! An alcohol license would make this the perfect place for families to dine in the evning!

Our experience at the playhouse was simply wonderful, and it was all thanks to Kelly, the new manager. She was so kind, attentive, and friendly that we immediately felt at home. It wasn’t just the staff, but the whole environment was perfect – the place was immaculately clean and well-maintained, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Kelly is a true professional who not only pays attention to the guests' needs but also ensures every little detail is taken care of. The cleanliness and orderliness of the place are clear signs that they prioritize quality and the comfort of their guests. We will definitely be returning because you just don't find this kind of thoughtful, caring service, and such a clean, well-kept venue everywhere. Thank you, Kelly, for making our experience so special! 🌟
Andrea K — Google review
Visited today. Kids enjoyed the soft play. Staff were helpful and polite but there needed to be more of them for the size of the venue to function properly. It’s busy but the cleanliness of the site is poor especially in the toilets. The lighting is dim but you can see the grime that has built up over time. The bathrooms need a thorough deep clean and to be kept on top of. Some of the toilets had some kind of body fluids smeared on them. More baby changing units needed also, one isn’t enough at busy times. A door mat is also needed at the front door. It’s raining and it will become slippy also makes the floor extra dirty. It was fine but the whole place needs better lighting and cleaning regularly. The site near Reading was also dirty when we visited, toilets again a big issue.

Chichester Market is a traditional street market with a good selection of stalls offering food, clothing, crafts, and various other items. Despite a negative experience at one of the veg stalls in North Street, the market overall offers a bustling and lively atmosphere. Visitors can find parking easily and navigate around the restaurants and shops with ease. The market is wheelchair accessible and has something for everyone. The traders are welcoming and friendly, making it an enjoyable experience for both locals and tourists alike.
We love this traditional village, so much spirit around. Easily to find parking, wheelchair accessible and easy to navigate around the restaurants and shops. Such a great variety, there was something for everyone. A must to visit around this time of the year

A wonderful, traditional street market. Busy and active when we visited. With a plethora of food, clothing, crafts and a kaleidoscope of other good value offerings. We got a sandwich and coffee, retreating to the grounds of the adjacent cathedral to escape the hurley-burley and to rest our feet. A market as it should be, supported by all the other retailers along the High Street. Well worth a visit...

Children's amusement center
Little Street (Children’s Role Play) is a role play center in West Sussex that offers themed rooms for children to engage in various activities such as running a cafe, building shops, being a hairdresser, working at a supermarket, and more. The venue also hosts birthday parties and has received positive feedback for its organization and staff. Visitors are advised to check session times as they vary with term times and school holidays.
We had our daughter’s 3rd birthday party today at Little Street in Chichester today. Mel and her team were brilliant from the moment we inquired on availability through to the party today. They literally took care of everything on the day today from laying out food, to adding the cake to party bags. The venue itself is brilliant - a really great space, so many things to do for the little ones to play in. Blows my mind that that they manage to turn it round each session for the next one to come in. I think we were second party of the day - the whole place was immaculate. Can’t recommend enough for a kids party. Brilliant. Big thanks to Mel and the team!

We've visited here a couple of times and really enjoyed it so decided to have my daughter's 4th birthday party here. It was great, reasonably priced and the staff were so helpful and sorted out everything for me. Ages ranged from 1-7 and they all had a great time. The party was really well run on the day and we got a voucher to go back for free. The children absolutely loved all the different sections, there's so much for them to do and everything is always spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend for parties or just something fun to do with little ones!

My daughter just completed a week of work experience here, she was welcomed by friendly staff who explained all that goes into the day to day running of the role play centre, showed her how to use the till, serve customers, interact with both the children and parents along with cleaning after each session and replacing it back to its original state for the next session. She has learned valuable life skills and I would recommend this centre for all the fun it offers children through play. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 review in all areas.

We have recently had my daughters 4th birthday at Little St in Chichester. It was fantastic. My daughter and her friends had the best time. Venue was clean and very well equipped. Mel and her team were so friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to help the party run smoothly, communicating alot with me about what came next and made a huge fuss of the birthday girl. We would highly recommend Little Street Chichester for birthday parties or just a couple of hours play session. Thank you.

Chichester Watersports is the ultimate destination for adventure enthusiasts and families alike, located just a short five-minute drive from the city center. This vibrant hub offers an array of exhilarating water activities, including wakeboarding—both behind a boat and on cable—as well as waterskiing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, open-water swimming, and an exciting inflatable Aqua Park. It's perfect for everyone aged 7 and up who can swim independently.
I took my two boys here (14 and 16, and I am 50!) for wakeboarding lessons, towed on rope behind a boat, on Thursday 14th Aug 2025. We had tried water skiing once before with mixed results elsewhere. Toby, our instructor (I think that was his name) was outstanding. Really clear instructions, great patience and encouragement. All three of of us loved it and all of us were up and turning by the end of the lesson. Simply couldn’t ask for more. Fabulous experience and a great spot.

Lots of fun was had. There a wetsuits for hire, just make sure you arrive in good time to get them on. Parking is on the verg on the outside. Wetsuit hire is £5 per suit. Once ready there is about a 100meter swim to the start. Lots of lifeguards about to ensue everyone is safe. 100% fun

This water park is dangerous they are not adhering to their own rules that they state about behaviour expected. Even when lifeguards are confronted with issues it is ignored. They State no aggressive or abusive behaviour or language is accepted but they clearly can’t deal with the serious issues when they arise. This is supposed to be a fun activity to push yourself but our group were being pushed in and abused by a group. Which is for a group of aged 8-11 can be very scary and also made this fun activity very traumatic.

Graylingwell Chapel is a versatile community space that offers a range of activities for families and live music events. The Monday afternoon storytime sessions are particularly popular, featuring engaging entertainment for children including puppet shows, musical instruments, dancing, and more. The historic architecture of the chapel is complemented by modern features, creating a contemporary atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food and friendly staff. Additionally, the chapel provides well-stocked play areas for children of various ages and quiet spaces for relaxation or reading.
I love, love, love this place. Such a wonderful space for so many reasons, great coffee and delicious treats, all of the staff so genuinely positive and friendly. But what i especially like is that it is brilliant to see this being used by so many different communities at once. I personally attend a free monthly business networking here - well attended by about 40 or so other local businesses but at the same time you can often find children using the indoor play equipment whilst their carers enjoy a coffee (and a rest) or maybe there is a breast feeding class or other support group - Such a great local community asset being used by so many of us.

Editing to add an update, 2024: Went back after some time since we moved away and the menu has completely changed. They removed the picky bits which My children adored, in fact most children visiting every time we went in would have this meal. The play area was nice still but I felt bad about the noise since the end of the hall now has signs saying it is a quiet space, but the noise won't exactly reach that area and decide to turn around. Some of the food was still nice but the sausage sandwich was very greasy with sausages I wasn't a massive fan of. However the scrambled eggs were delicious and I was a huge fan of the tea that we got. It also used to be a relatively warm space to go but it was very cold inside. I kept my coat on. I did find my drawing from years back still pinned up which made me happy. I've had to adjust my rating to 4 stars though. It is a lot of personal preference though. also the hand dryers in the bathroom weren't working so I kept having to walk through the the cafe for napkins to dry my hands. 2022: What a fantastic community space. We live nearby and have visited with our children multiple times in the past 2 weeks. The Chapel has a wonderful warm and comfortable atmosphere, welcoming staff, plenty of information to explore and a very well stocked play area for children of many ages. On top of this, I have found quiet rooms and nooks, and a comfy bench with reading lamps and headphones plugged into what sounded like some storytelling but I have yet to sit down and really listen. The coffee is really very good, perhaps some of the best in chichester, and the tea is of a great quality (some of you may know i am very particular about my tea) as is all of the food we have tried so far. My favourite was on one of the days they had some cinnamon buns and I have been disappointed not to have seen them since. Even the loos were lovely to use, with what seemed to be a wonderful heated floor, clean facilities and one of the stalls even had some stained glass windows which was a rather lovelly space. I hope the Chapel manages to keep this space feeling lush and inviting, and that people continue to respect and enjoy it. We have had countless conversations here with other locals and parents who have been desperate for somewhere to go like this, and we also keep telling our friends about it.

Absolutely phenomenal live music venue! My band had the privilege to play here and thanks to Jack and his team, it was one of the best sounding events we have ever played at! The Chapel its self retains its historic architecture but there are so many splashes of modern features that it makes it very very contemporary! The food was delicious and the staff were ultra friendly and very helpful. There is so much to do at Graylingwell Chapel and there is certainly something for everyone! The photos are looking towards the band at the North side of the Chapel (where the main services would have always taken place.)

Graylingwell storytime (and used to be supper) is an amazing Monday afternoon activity. 3:30-4:30pm, £2 per family no matter how many children. Chris is awesome at entertaining and allowing space for your children to be creative. Normally he reads a story with puppets, gets the children playing with musical instruments, dancing and getting a parachute out. Graylingwell Chapel is an awesome space anyway and has a great ethos about bringing community together. We have used it so many times. Great rainy day play space for under 4s.

Nestled in the heart of Chichester, The Sussex Bookshop is a delightful independent bookstore that stands out amidst the competition from larger retailers. With its warm and knowledgeable staff, this charming shop offers an impressive selection of both popular bestsellers and unique titles. A special highlight is their dedicated section for local authors, showcasing the vibrant literary talent from the area. Visitors can also find signed copies of books, adding a personal touch to their shopping experience.
I’m local to Chichester and love this independent bookshop. It’s very challenging for independents to compete against Amazon and the very few remaining big brand book shop(s). The staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable and this shop is supporting local independent authors. Bookshelf space is valuable so the fact they are prepared to promote local authors is wonderful. So, the next time you are in Chichester, take a moment to drop in, have a browse and buy a book or order one.

I don't usually write reviews but I had a such a strange and uncomfortable experience at the Sussex Bookshop that I feel I have to! I'd heard some interesting reviews from former colleagues in the area and made the trip down from London especially, just to see for myself if the stories were true. We received a very frosty reception from one member of staff who then proceeded to follow us around and even appeared to be eavesdropping on our conversation. I felt under so much pressure I panicked and bought a book, just to avoid an altercation. Having read the other reviews, I'm glad it wasn't personal - it sounds like we got away lightly! Such a pity as the shop itself is very lovely.

I visited for the first time today and it is now my bookshop of choice! The two ladies who were working there were lovely. For a small shop, they have a great selection of books - some well-known bestsellers and also some more obscure titles. They had copies of books signed by the authors, and a section dedicated to books by local authors, which I really loved. I am usually a Waterstones shopper but I will be coming here instead in the future :)
Lizzie — Google review
AVOID!!! the lady in the shop at first smiled at me as i said hello to her, and i began browsing their section of cards at the front. Meanwhile, my boyfriend goes to look at the back where the books are kept and was confronted by the woman. she asks if she can help in any way (asking once is hospitable). however she asked him again what he was looking for and appeared frustrated when he stated he was just browsing, she stated accusingly “for what” and he said “books” to which she responded “you do know these are adult books right” she did not believe him, saying “are you” after he told her he was 18. regardless, how dare you block the entrance to bookshelves WHICH ARE CLASSICS, and hundreds of them we have read and love, because they are “adult”. he is an adult! absolutely bizarre to think that someone who has a job and would have been a paying customer contributing to the continuation of your independent bookshop was basically denied service and made to feel humiliated and extremely uncomfortable. these were not sexual, graphic, or explicit books. why would you strive to create such an unwelcoming and tense atmosphere for customers? VERY STRANGE, she was also hovering over everyone again when we walked past on the way back. i hope they replace this with a waterstones. you’re giving a bad name to independent bookshops.
Sevyn V — Google review
We stumbled across this gem of a bookstore today when visiting the beach on a family day out from London. Super friendly and helpful staff and a nicely curated selection of books for all ages and interests. Given that we didn't pop in for anything in particular, I still managed to come away with a bag full of books for summer reading and beyond. We will definitely stop by again in the future.
Natasha W — Google review
Had an amazing experience in this book shop. Staff were attentive and interested in what I was actually looking for. I read that one reviewer questioned upstairs wasn’t available but, if they were aware enough to ask questions, there is a wide variety of books to choose from which this independent shop is more than happy to order. These types of shop are a dying breed, support them and appreciate them before they are lost forever. If you prefer a bland layout with 30,000 books in stock with no opinion on the books you are buying, go to Waterstones, the equivalent of a literature Wetherspoons.
Jon H — Google review
The woman working in this bookshop was aggressive and confronting. She constantly badgered me and other customers and made me feel akward and unwelcome. While I love independent bookshops I would give this one a miss, there are plenty of other lovely second hand bookshops around Chichester that are much more hospitable. The interaction I had here was horrible and ruined my evening.
Caleb P — Google review
I wandered in on a muggy afternoon hoping for a pleasant browse but instead I got a bizarrely hostile (and a little sexist in my opinion) interaction with one of the staff there. I smiled, said hello, and was asked the usual polite “Are you looking for anything in particular?” to which I replied “Just browsing.” Then I was told that they have much more stock upstairs. Now, the previous owners opened the upstairs area for people to browse but this apparently has been closed off (because why would a bookshop display… books?) meaning that the choice on display is limited. I could not see a catalogue or anything else to tell me what they had in stock and I didn’t really fancy repeatedly asking for books that I might be interested in… only to find out they don’t have it or to reject something I don’t want. I like to look at the things I’m going to buy and not play what is effectively a game of battleships. At this point made the fatal mistake of attempting small talk. Dear reader, please brace yourself… I asked the shopkeeper, “So, how’s business been?” First came the blank stare. I thought that she hadn’t heard me (In hindsight I think that this was intentionally ignored). I gently tried again, as one does when being normal. Then was met with the sort of facial twitch you see on people who’ve just got a nose full of the stink of a Glastonbury toilet: “So, business been tough?” Her response? “Don’t put words in my mouth. I would never dream of asking how your business is doing. I’m shocked by the number of men who ask me that question.” Ah, yes. That male scourge of independent bookshops… politely enquiring about how the till is ticking over. How. Dare I. At this point, she stormed off to the back of the shop. I apologised and said I didn’t realise she’d feel it was rude (upon reflection I don’t think that was the right thing to do). Her poor colleague, well-practiced at this but clearly still mortified, tried to recover the situation with the old “So, what do you read?” gambit. I muttered something about sci-fi, and then made my exit. So, what did I learn? That “supporting small businesses” apparently means don’t you dare ask about said small business. That being a man in The Sussex Bookshop automatically renders you a misogynist for the crime of idle chit-chat. And a limited company (whose financials are literally public record) regards “How’s business?” as highly offensive. I’m all for supporting small independent bookshops but this is not one to spend your money with! TLDR: if you want warmth, friendliness, or even the mildest whiff of customer service, avoid The Sussex Bookshop. If you want to speak to a shop that is rude and will judge you for completely normal small talk, then this is your place!

Nestled within the stunning South Downs National Park, the Weald & Downland Living Museum offers a captivating journey through rural life from 1300 to 1910. This open-air museum features meticulously restored farmsteads and over 50 historic buildings, including a replica Anglo-Saxon hall house and an Edwardian tin church. Visitors can engage in hands-on activities, interact with traditional breed farm animals, and enjoy scenic walks across its expansive 40 acres.
When we visited the UK, we definitely wanted to visit this site. For those who don't know, it is associated with the filming of The Repair Shop and in fact there was filming happening whilst we were there. A fantastic collection of historical buildings that can't be missed. Well worth the visit even if you have to come from London. Well recommended. We also decided to take lunch at the cafe and weren't disappointed. A+++

Where do you even start with this without writing an essay? Came here with my parents and brother for a family day out together and absolutely loved it. Handed a map at the start which would be useful for a first time visitor, but as we had all been before we just wandered around to all our usual favorites. Bayleaf farmhouse, Tudor kitchen, Watermill, Blacksmith etc. Just come as you are and take things at your own pace. Whichever way you go you will not be disappointed and a day will not be enough time to do it all. The quality of food on offer at the Cafe was surprisingly good, and not in my opinion overly expensive either. Plan your refreshment visit not to coincide with the lunchtime rush (unless it is lunch you are after of course) If I had to level one small criticism here it would be accessibility. None of the tracks seemed entirely wheelchair friendly with coarse gravel and larger stones being commonplace. Even my father who still walks but with the aid of a stick, took to walking on the adjacent grass verges for much of our visit as he found it easier. All things considered definitely worth a visit, and maybe even a repeat visit to explore new areas or revisit old favorites.

What a lovely museum! We loved how big it was and filled with all different kinds of animals and trails to go exploring down. They are even dog friendly and have and indoor and outdoor dog friendly section of the cafe. Definitely recommend getting lunch at the cafe, was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food. Good value for money!

It is 55 years since last visiting and it has certainly changed! We had a really enjoyable 3 hours viewing a wide range of houses and other rural buildings. I cannot recommend a visit more highly and seeing the Repair Shop barn was a real bonus!

Great place to learn about the past! Although the buildings are a bit mixed, that’s the point as they’ve been saved from other areas and meticulously put back together. To my suprise I went on the day there was a hand made fair so you could buy items, or watch talks on how things were made, built and maintained throughout history. A highlight for me was someone to talk about most of the buildings in each place you went. But your tickets online in advance as it’s cheaper although sadly no apple or Google pay.

Great place to visit! So many beautiful old buildings saved and preserved for future generations. The volunteers were knowledgable and friendly. You have the added bonus of seeing where The Repair Shop is filmed too! I would highly recommend a visit!

Both my partner and I are fans of The Repair Shop and when we found out we could visit where it was filmed we leapt at it. I have a Blue Light card so got a small reduction on entry fee. It’s not cheap but you can easily spend the whole day here. So much to see and there are excellent facilities too. Cafe was fantastic too but if you pack a picnic there are large swathes of grassy areas with benches to sit at (just take a rubbish bag with you).

We had a lovely visit here . The grounds and exhibit were fantastic. We had three disabled people in our party and some of the grounds weren't to kind to mobility issues . But it was a lovely day the cafe was lovely with a great selection on food which was delicious. The gift shop was lovely too selling thier own flour ( for baking ) to books , skin products and children's educational toys . I would of rated a five if not for the disability issues .

West Dean Gardens is a horticultural gem featuring an Edwardian pergola, Victorian glasshouses, and a walled kitchen garden. The gardens date back to the 17th century and have been meticulously restored over the years. Visitors can explore the impressive Victorian glasshouse, sunken and walled gardens, and seasonal plantings. The estate also offers historic features and a surreal tree or two. Additionally, guests can sign up for garden-themed short courses to enhance their gardening skills.
Beautiful, peaceful gardens with stunning views and historic glasshouses. The kitchen garden is a highlight for sure. Great for a quiet stroll, especially in spring/summer. Café is decent too but not that many cakes to choose from. Worth a visit if you enjoy nature and gardens.

I travelled from Portsmouth to West Dean, and the journey took 43 minutes. I strongly recommend avoiding the motorway and instead enjoying the entire route, which offers opulent countryside scenery. Parking The parking area is rather hidden and can be tricky to find. If you’re using Google Maps, don’t turn at the first entrance for West Dean that it shows. Instead, carry on a little further and take the next street on the same side — this will lead you to the parking space. Entrance There are a few signs, but none clearly indicate the entrance. Look for the West Dean Shop, as this is where you can purchase tickets (£13 per person). The Garden The garden is beautiful, and there’s a large mansion on the grounds, although you cannot go inside. This left me wondering why the entry price is quite high for just access to the garden. Our group of six, including children and elderly visitors, all enjoyed the outing. Exploring the grounds will typically take 1–2 hours. Restaurant There is a restaurant located right next to the shop, where you can buy drinks, ice creams, and meals. Tips If you bring your own picnic, particularly sandwiches, it makes for a very pleasant visit. During my time there, most of the visitors were elderly, giving the place a calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I'm in love with West Dean Gardens and have been for many years. It's probably my favourite place in the UK - it's peaceful, beautiful, welcoming and with each Season offers up a glorious display. As an amateur photographer this is a magical setting and hopefully my attached photos show that. Today was beautifully sunny for September, regretably the Lavant wasn't full enough to have the West Dean gardens stream running - and when it does in the Spring there are ducks with the little chicks splashing around. Had lunch at the cafe. A very tasty sandwich (basically a posh cheese sandwich) with salad and crips. And a pot of tea - squeezed 3 cups out of that. It's not cheap but it's very good. The food here in my view is always excellent. Dogs are allowed in the gardens and also in the cafe, however, they must be on short leash. Please note the cafe does not take cash. Entry at time of writing was £13.50 - children under the age of 16 are free. I don't think this place is for kids - they'd be bored but there is a Chilli Festival once a year, still going, I believe which they might like. Parking is fairly easy and there is an overflow car-park which was opened today, as it was very busy due to the beautiful weather. Busy here doesn't mean crammed in the garden - it's quite sedate as the gardens are huge. Well worth a visit.

West Dean Gardens is a truly beautiful place, full of charm and character. My favourite moment was walking through the pergola – it was absolutely breathtaking, covered with climbers and framed by wonderful understory planting. The Victorian glasshouses are also a delight, carefully maintained and full of interest. I especially appreciated the thoughtful planting in the walled garden, where the same plant is displayed in different varieties side by side – a lovely touch that really shows the richness of each species. A very inspiring and enjoyable visit!

absolutely stunning, immaculately kept and cared for gardens. lovely woodland walk to start with which takes about an hour and then leads you round to the gardens. we particularly liked the glasshouses. fantastic day out for couples and families alike.

Really surprised how good this was! Gold star towhoever is running this place and looking after the plants and trees. Paid £13.50 each to get in but it was spotless, peaceful and great views. No river running till later in the year but the greenhouses, walled gardens and general grounds were beautiful. We had a super sausage roll in the restaurant and paid £5 for a bag to select from the great variety of apples for sale. The college is not open to public but there are tours some days/months.

Loved it. Gardens were great especially the walled Gardens, roses and greenhouses. Nice lunch although a few more choices could be good. Never found the Gardeners tea room so went in the main restaurant twice for refreshments.

West Dean Gardens were a lovely place to visit. We only walked around the gardens there is also a 60 minute walk which looked lovely but there were very heavy black clouds so we didn’t complete this. After seeing the produce in the gardens we were expecting a good selection of fresh cakes however we were very disappointed with what was on offer.
