Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a sprawling 300-acre natural history haven that offers an enriching blend of experiences for nature lovers and culture enthusiasts alike. This park features a captivating museum showcasing both permanent and temporary exhibits that delve into the region's cultural, artistic, and scientific heritage. Visitors can explore interactive displays, admire local artworks, or even step inside a recreated Native American bark house. The park also boasts the stunning McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, where beautifully curated landscapes invite exploration.
This place is a lot of fun for all ages. They have art like beautiful trash sculptures and a Lego model of the Sundial Bridge. They have animals like fish, ducks, frogs and more. The staff were friendly. There was a lot of historical facts and cool relics

Great animal show! We loved the butterfly exhibit and the parrots! Perfect place to bring children, or like us a day time date. I recommend going early to beat the heat.

A Magical Night at Glowing Wild – Redding’s Radiant Hidden Gem If you’re looking for a night of wonder, beauty, and unforgettable memories in Redding, look no further than Glowing Wild. This lantern festival is unlike anything else in Northern California—an awe-inspiring blend of art, nature, and light that feels straight out of a fairytale. From the moment you step through the entrance, you're transported into a dreamlike world filled with giant illuminated sculptures. Towering tigers, graceful dolphins, luminous butterflies, and glowing floral arches line the walking paths, each more breathtaking than the last. The colors are vivid, the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the atmosphere is pure magic. What makes Glowing Wild truly special is how it transforms the familiar landscape of Turtle Bay and the McConnell Botanical Gardens into something otherworldly. The lanterns are perfectly placed to complement the natural surroundings, and as the sun sets, the entire area begins to glow with warmth and wonder. The iconic Sundial Bridge lit up in the background only adds to the surreal beauty.

We enjoyed our visit inside with several exhibits from fish to Legos to a steam punk special. Small but fresh and well curated. The outside was even more special with playgrounds, reptile house, and our favorite the buddies! 😍

What a fun family trip!! We are from southern Oregon and decided to check out Redding for the first time, with this being our first stop… and it did NOT disappoint!!! Everybody had an amazing time, my daughter is 12 and my son is 5 and both of them said that it was the best day. Beautiful well maintained landscaping and animal enclosures, extremely friendly staff. Tons of free giveaway stuff, perfect entertainment for the little ones! You can feed parrots - so fun! And during season you can go inside the butterfly house. It was extremely hot and humid when we went, it would have been nice if they had misters along the walkway/benches but other than that, such a fun memorable experience and we will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend

A beautiful park and scenic bridge with a view of the river and it’s a pretty crowded place. I visited during July 4th and it was packed for the fireworks.
Jagadeesh R — Google review
The park is 5 stars easy, very beautiful area, the museum I would give 3.5. It's interesting, not too big but I liked the birds and was there was a Steam Punk exhibit which was nice. The remaining areas were nice but somewhat limited. Some of the animals are in rather small enclosures. It's a bit expensive for a family visiting and maybe getting a souvenir or two. Older kids may get bored after an hour and for $22 each it would not be worth it. I recommend going to the park, hiking, enjoying the bridge, nature, and the many wild animals you can find in the park. I saw deer and a skunk among other things.
Remey R — Google review
This experience was amazing. There are so many things to do included in the admission fee. Our favorites were the dinosaur exhibit, butterfly house, and the bird house. Aside from the favorites everything else was great also. Something fun is that most of the exhibits have things for kids to touch. Hands on learning is when my daughter has the most fun so I appreciated this experience.

Sundial Bridge is a stunning architectural gem that gracefully spans the Sacramento River, designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This pedestrian bridge not only serves as a vital link between Turtle Bay Exploration Park's museum and its beautiful Arboretum and Gardens but also acts as a gateway to Redding’s expansive Sacramento River National Recreation Trail.
This place was very cool! We've got to go back when we have more time. Parking is free, which is great and there is plenty of it. The park is huge... there are electric scooters and bikes you can rent to ride around. There were a lot of people just on leisurely evening strolls. My wife and I went by the lake and just sat for a few after taking our time across the bridge. It was an absolutely beautiful view on both sides. There were kayakers and tubers on the river. It was also doggy walking hour 🤭 Plenty of furry friends enjoying a stroll. Very peaceful place. There apparently is a restaurant on site as well but we went too late. 😣 next time !

Beautiful place to just sit and relax. The river flowing below has a wide bank and feels magical with the water stream resembling raindrops on the surface. It's pretty cool on a summer evening. Lots of people (not overcrowded) and friendly families around. The car park is extremely close, so it's not much of a hassle to walk it up.
Shripad K — Google review
Do visit this place if you visit Redding. The whole bridge is lit up at night making it a surreal experience. They also have bikes and scooters that you can rent. Bike rentals felt cheaper than the scooters. Many scenic trails besides the river. So take your time and have fun exploring the place. Sunday they had the farmers market setup.

This cool, architectural wonder in Redding is at Turtle Bay Exploration Park is super cool. Use the QR code at the beginning for an audio guided tour with lots of cool information as you walk across. On the other side is an Arboretum and Botanical garden. The audio tour says that the bridge is lit up at night... how cool is that!

The Sundial Bridge is a beautiful spot with a great view of the water. It’s a relaxing place to walk, and there’s plenty for kids to enjoy. The nearby museum and park make it even better, offering both fun and learning opportunities. A wonderful place for a family outing. After parking there is a nice river and picnic area as well but it’s not clean space while I visited, this area isn’t connected to the bridge so not to worry!

A must visit place in Redding CA. The city has done an amazing job if constructing a unique educational piece of marvel. Enjoy the gorgeous views of sunset over Sacramento river. The majestic size of sundial is a landmark if Redding.
Rajesh R — Google review
One of the largest Sundials in the world It’s a super cool bridge with a glass bottom (albeit it’s mostly opaque) and suspended from a giant sundial. If you’re visiting Redding it’s worth a visit. The bridge is right by downtown and other transactions (waterpark and museum) and offers a picturesque sunset viewing place. There’s a lot of paved parking around the area. It can get busy around sunset but we were still able to find a spot.

The Redding Sundial Bridge is a magnificent engineering masterpiece. It is the largest working sundial in the world that is most accurate during the solstices and its shadow accurately tracks time daily from approximately 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Sundial Bridge was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The walkway has stunning views of the Sacramento River with all its wildlife and spectacular scenic views of the mountains.

Clear, simple drive from Chico. Fun place to go to get away from the heat. Loved that you're able to take your water bottle and fill it with free cold water in the gift shop!!!

Our family — and truly the whole community — benefits so much from this beautiful water park in Redding, CA. We don’t say it enough, but we’re incredibly thankful for the team who takes on the big responsibility of running this place, especially with so many people coming from all over. They absolutely deserve a 5-star review. That said, I do hope they’ll consider improving the process for ride height checks, especially during long wait times. Today, after waiting in line, our son — who has enjoyed this ride many times — was told he couldn’t go due to his height. Meanwhile, his friend, who is the same height, was allowed through. I typically don’t speak up, but in this case, it felt necessary to advocate for fairness. Our son handled it well, but it was hard to watch. In the end, I stepped in and thankfully, he was able to ride. I share this only in hopes that it might help improve the experience for other kids and families in the future. We’re still deeply grateful for all the fun and care the staff provides every day.

My family of 5 rented a 6person cabana and we were all so excited for our day of fun. When we got to the cabana we were pretty disappointed because of how dirty it was but we weren’t planning on spending much time in there so we dropped our stuff off on the chairs and off we went. Then came lunch time we put our flag out for our server to come get our order. She came and got our order fairly quick so that was nice. We got our food but unfortunately even though our server read back to use that we had ordered deep fried Oreos she did not have it on our receipt so we called her back and asked if we could order the Oreos not saying anything about them being forgotten. She asked me if I would like a receipt and I declined that and gave her an $20 cash, $15 for Oreos and $5 for tip.All good right? Nope! Chicken burger was cold , two burgers were cold so we walked them up and the staff didn’t seem very happy but they remade the hamburgers and when we sat to eat them they were uncooked like really uncooked. We thought oh well we will let the kids eat the oreos and head back out. About 45 minutes went by and still not Oreos so I went up and asked what’s up with it and the girl said “what order?” I was like umm the two orders of Oreos and she oh ok I will bring them right there another 15 min went by and still nothing so I just went to the office. Lady was nice gave me a pass for 5free ice creams and wanted to give me more burgers I said nah we just want to go in the water and are tired of waiting. She then goes to the cafe to see what was up as I walked back to my cabana. As I stand at my cabana the office lady comes up to me along with the server and the cook. The cook aggressively snaps at me and said “you already got your Oreos!!” I said no we’ve been waiting for them at our cabana he said “no you came to the window and showed me your Receipt and I gave them to you. “ As they all were looking at me for answers I said no that did not happen I didn’t get a receipt remember as I looked over to the server. I said I don’t care we just want to get in the water so it is what it is. The office lady said come to me before you leave and we can get you the burgers. I said ok. My family and I went off to get back in the water a few minutes later we noticed the staff back at our cabana going threw our trash!!! Freaking unbelievable. I told my children it was ok our things will be fine. Literally the worst experience EVER!!! At the end at about 5 ish I went to the office and as I walked it the office lady was holding a small child behind the counter and she just left. I gave up at that point and just wanted to get my family out of water works park.

It was decent. We had fun! About 4 hours into our visit, the manager came out and said we couldn't have our outside water there. Idk if she was having a bad day or what but she started bitching about her employee working the door. They provide no water fountains though. We spent plenty of money there on food. We left 30 minutes after that confrontation. It kinda left a bad taste in our mouths. Eat before you go and hide your drinks under a towel if you can get them through the door by the nice staff that work the gates.
Callie P — Google review
This place is completely overrated. You would think that being one of the sunniest places in the country we would have a decent water park but nooooo.. just this joke of an establishment. Outdated and overpriced. My six year old was able to ride the avalanche one trip, but the next time he was there with his grandma they told him he wasn’t tall enough, granted this was a summer later and there’s no way he got SHORTER. The food is awful and they won’t even let you bring in your own water despite it being 100+ degrees through much of the summer. Lame slides, this last time my son was there the raging river was shut down for most of the day, which due to the inconsistent height checks was the only thing he was able to ride. You would think with the amount of money charged for admittance, food, cabanas etc and the amount of time they have during the “off season” they would spend some time and money making some updates and improvements. Such a shame… we need a real water park.
PerchedUp W — Google review
WaterWorks Park felt quite cramped with limited space to move around. We did get a cabana, and while our waitress was absolutely wonderful, friendly and attentive -- the cabana itself was disappointing. It was dirty, and the furniture was old, dirty and stained, which made it uncomfortable to relax in, but better than putting our things out in the opened on the lawn chairs and tables. The rest of the park wasn’t much better. The water was murky throughout, the lazy river had little to no current, was overcrowded, and felt too narrow. There were only a few large slides, and they were just average at best. Overall, the experience was mediocre. Given that it’s one of the only water parks in Northern California aside from Sunsplash in Sacramento, it may be worth checking out once, especially for families with small children and if you don't want to travel to Sacramento or Sparks, NV for their larger water parks. We paid a group rate of $26 per person, which felt reasonable, but I wouldn’t pay more than that. Not in a hurry to return. Three stars because my two oldest children had a blast. **Note: The young lady who waited on us at the Fiji cabana on Saturday, 7/12/25 (we didn’t catch her name) was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, incredibly attentive, and worked so hard throughout our visit. We truly appreciated her great service and warm attitude even in the triple digit heat.

We went on a Wednesday. It was not busy. We had a 6 year old. We did notice wait lines on the big slides. We stayed away from the food court due to negative reviews. I noticed they did have a small store as well. There is a tube rental area to use on the big slides. Restroom was large and clean. Water in thermos was permited from what I saw. Plenty of parking. Picnic tables outside the park by parking lot.
Israel S — Google review
I have a season pass and they didn't let me and my 2 kids into the park today. There were multiple parents and kids who I spoke to who are season passholders who were denied entrance as well. When signing up for a season pass it said that we'd be allowed to enter during regular business hours and since the park is open every week at 10 we should've been able to attend. I asked for a refund and the manager was very rude and denied refunding our 5 season passes. How they can feel good about wrongly denying so many parents and kids with season passes without being

The Cascade Theatre, a beloved community venue since 1935 and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers a diverse array of regional and national performances in music, theater, comedy, and film. The preserved 1930s Art Deco interior design provides a stunning backdrop for these events. Additionally, it serves as an event space with 3,000 square feet of beautiful area featuring a full kitchen and ample parking. The friendly staff ensures that guests have an enjoyable experience.
What a beautifully restored piece of history! Every seat is a great seat. The bathrooms were large and clean. The lines moved quickly and efficiently. Easy to get to and parking was a breeze. I have purchased tickets for future events as this was my first event. Very nice and I recommend the Cascade.

I am new to this area but have attended two events at this beautiful theater. I have seen "The Temptations " and recently, the " Summer City Nights" which is a tribute group to ABBA. Both performances were very good. The theater is well organized, opened on time, and the performances started on time. The seating is good and the sound system is very good. For evening events, there is plenty of free parking with a block. I highly recommend the theater.

Pretty cool venue, pretty much not a bad seat in the house. Bethel Music had two nights of worship at this venue and it was a fun evening. Parking is easy and the seats are comfortable. The only drawback was the higher the seats the harder it was to see the words of the worship music, in order, to join in the singing. Also, depending on where someone sat, the lights that were being used that night on the stage, were a tad blinding only because of their strobe light flashing effect.

This was my first time attending a production here and I was WOW'ed! Absolutely incredible actors, amazing production and incredibly beautiful theater! The staff that scanned our tickets were super helpful and kind. Security was friendly and helpful as well. A++++experience! Can't wait to return!

I love this place! I thoroughly enjoy going to their spring musicals and Cascade Christmas musicals every year for the past 3 years. Top quality singing and acting for the most part. And of course I can't not talk about the building. It's such a fun experience visiting a place from the art deco era. They've done a great job with restoring. Everywhere you look something beautiful.

Park
Kids' Kingdom is a unique amusement park in Redding, California that offers over 30 rides, including classics like the Ferris wheel and carousel. The park also boasts a playground, arcade, swings, and a water feature. Families can enjoy picnics at the grassy area with picnic tables and covered seating. The fenced-in park provides a safe environment for kids to play freely while parents relax on benches under shady trees.
Growing up as a kid I always Loved the old (wooden) Kids Kingdom Park & structure and over the years it has grown with so many new additions like the volcano water jet splash pad as well as a newly remodeled Castle with even more features than the older wooden structure. There are more swings (handicap accessible), more slides, a zip line, rock climbing as well as a community center with calendar activities and much more! Definitely a Kids Kingdom and for sure a Must to check out!
Sgt G — Google review
This needs to be said... This new plastic, static-filled, rubbery mess is not "Kids Kingdom". This is more like "Kids Village" there is nothing remotely kingdom-like here. They just slapped this playground together like some cheap off-brand LEGO set. Yes, it's for the kids I understand that, but this is just abysmal. It says this playground has an age group of 5-12. When I was 12, I remember coming here and it being a REAL KINGDOM. I remember running along this wooden bridge that wobbled and swung, climbing to the top of the lookout tower touching the treeline, and who can forget the giant hidden tire swing that connected all these secret tunnels together? This new place you can expect to build up static and get shocked (BAD), get friction burns from the slides and having your kids toes getting caught in the little holes they have on the walking platforms. The old one was wooden and was most likely rotting from the inside, but if the city can change the roads and put in bike lakes nobody wanted and that's hardly ever used, they can make a better "Kids KINGDOM" for the youth here. This is just pathetic. My kid gets bored after 30 minutes of playing. The charm is gone. They have remnants of the old helicopter and plane but they're nailed to a gate as a big middle finger to the older generation who factually had a kingdom they could go to and play on. But don't let the size discourage you from bringing your little one. They have one decent slide that's pretty steep everyone seems to love and have swings and a cool zip-line. I found some old pictures so you can compare it to the new one.

This park was a lot of fun and has a couple of different features. There's a lot of grass and picnic tables to have parties along with a covered picnic table area. There is your average park with slides and swings, and there is also a water feature here. There are lots of big trees to sit underneath so you don't get sunburned. I do miss the old wood structure that looked like a castle.

Great little park and splash pad. Nice shade on most of the park and shade for the parents to sit and watch the kids on the splash pad side. My kids have fun here every time on either side of the park. I have 5 kids, ages 10yrs old thru 1yr old. Great park. 👍🏻

Wonderful park, wonderful shade trees and a water park that can't be beat.

This place was really fun to bring the kids. The park is huge, there is a big covered area with tables. The splash pad seemed clean and well maintained. It's not really the greatest place for a picnic, however. We brought a pizza and were constantly bombarded with meat bees and flies (like 20 non stop in our face). We tried moving all over and they just kept following us around. We had to stash the pizza in the car to get them to leave us alone.

Excellent customer service. Many rooms for birthday parties. The facility was very spacious and clean. With having multiple children, this was affordable and exciting. We will be repeat customers.

My daughter is autistic and nonverbal. She comes here all the time and it’s her favorite place in the world. The staff is wonderful. They are so patient and sweet to her. All these guys need a raise. Especially the weekday staff. They are so kind And helpful. They don’t let her get away with anything, and believe me, she tries but they do it in such a sweet way that makes her completely comfortable, and if anyone has an autistic kid like mine, they would understand how rare that is. We appreciate you guys!

Rare Air is a place we visit frequently. The new obstacle course is a hit! We’ve attended plenty of parties, play dates, and just “something to do” events here. Today, we were so unhappy. The air wasn’t on, or if it was , it wasn’t a good temperature. It was SO hot. I was disappointed to go there so we could escape the heat, only to find, we were in the heat-ugh! Please do better about this.
Kylee C — Google review
The staff here is always so kind and helpful. They are great teens! Facility is great with lots of games, massage chairs for pay, and plenty of trampolines. They have pretzels, pizza and various drinks. You can win tickets at the arcade for prizes. We have had a few birthday parties here, and they have been great. Keep the socks they give you to save some money. The only thing I'd like better here is if they had a membership. The weekends are really busy, but week days after school are usually pretty empty.
Korey B — Google review
Recently had my daughter’s birthday party here. We booked a jump and arcade package kids burned through those game cards in minutes the games are expensive. Although staff was all friendly they were not attentive the party came with 2 pitchers of sodas (without free refills) and I had to refill one soda and one water by taking them to the counter. The staff came to the room twice to ask what sodas and to bring pizza. The kids of course all had a blast though but I don’t think I’d book again in the near future. Great for the kids to Burn off Energy. This place has a lot of space and never crowded. The AC is perfect and it’s well ventilated. The prices are also great! One hour is more than enough time to allow your kids to have fun.

Restaurant
Mosaic Restaurant is a modern, rustic eatery in Redding, offering a menu of California cuisine and drinks. Located near the iconic Sundial Bridge, this California-inspired restaurant specializes in using local ingredients with a wine country twist. The food is fresh and hearty, with artisanal pizzas being one of their standout offerings. What sets Mosaic apart is its Doggy Menu, complete with dog-friendly ice cream.
The food was really good. Salmon cakes were well cooked and delicious, the sauce with the cakes was great. Burger was cooked to perfection as well. It took a bit of time to arrive though. Service was great, didn't hurry us(I was eating pretty slow) and got the check when we said we were ready.

Walking distance to the sundial bridge. Friendly staff on a busy evening. The Mexican corn soup was delicious. The blue berry drinks were refreshing on a hot day. The steak was tasty. Wings were a bit soggy but tasted great. Overall a solid spot for dinner.

The food was decent, average. I got the Lamb Smash Burger and I don’t think the description of the ‘Sando’ matched that I got. The description said two 3oz patties but the meat was very thin and flat. I liked the taste of the olives on the burger but I wish it had more flavor and weight. It was very light and the brioche bun was pretty dry. Rosemary Fries were cooked perfectly to my preference but again I wish it had more seasoning, as I didn’t taste the rosemary or enough salt. Cute restaurant overall.

Had a fantastic brunch / lunch stop on our way home from California back to Vancouver. Our server Kobe was very helpful and attentive to our fur kids even in 45 degree weather. Made sure they had water and ours was also full. Definitely recommend the marg flights so good and each one was different. great spot to stop the dogs loved the dog menu.

I have been to Mosaic 4-5 times and the last 3 times have been great but this last visit was spectacular. It started with quick seating outdoors under trees and shade. Comfortable scenery and open to well behaved doggies. We went during happy hour so they had some amazing deals going on. Our waiter approached our table and quickly I thought is he old enough to work here? Well YES HE WAS! Do not question this server ability to take care of a customer. I asked him about the happy hour drinks and he was able to recommend and provide his personal input on the lemon drop. So glad I wet my whistle with this one. It was sweet but just the right amount and then the citrus le On hits your pallet and sings. I was a bit toasty after half a glass. So delicious and happy hour menu item. Then comes the snacky snacks! Fried pickles! Probably hands down the best, freshest and crunchiest pickles I have had. Spot on! Next the delicious wood fired 1000 peaks pizza. If you like pineapple on pizza this is a must try. JP checked and interacted with us the perfect amount of time, accommodated us and did not forget a single detail. Definitely will be back. Quality food and great drinks, upscale without out a hefty price tag. Go now!

This, being my 1st time here to enjoy a great dinner, was disappointing. The restaurant entry area which leads to the bar, I guess, is extremely loud. Something ought to be done to quiet the loud voices for a more relaxing atmosphere. The interior temperature at the table inside the restaurant was very cold, I imagine due to the crowded bar beside the almost empty dining area. Our server was exceptional altho thru no fault of his the salad dressing in both our salad meals was watery and tasteless. Bummer.

I recommend the food, the portions are a bit small for the price but the food is tasty. I got the blackberry smash and beet salad with chicken.

A great place for a walk year around!! But the light show is always a fantastic time!! They do a very good job of changing it up and making it new every year!! Worth all the memories! I've attached picture from the Christmas lights of '23 and '24 and their new spring addition in 2023!!

I’ve been enjoying this park, the light festivals, Sundial Bridge and its activities, and Turtle Bay for many years. The river trails are peaceful and easy to walk (with more challenging trails for those who like a bit more of a hike). It’s one of my favorite places to go, and a great place for me to take photos. There’s a little something for everyone in and around Turtle Bay and the Sundial Bridge. (If you do go at night pleeease be careful and never go alone!) *(any and all photos posted are the intellectual property of account owner 😊 They may not be used, altered, and/or copied, etc under copyright laws).

More like a park than a Botanical Garden or Arboretum. We visited during a light show event period so there were decorations along the main walkway of the gardens. The gardens we came to see were roped off. We didn't find any plant markers along the main walkway. We did a loop walk along what I believe was the Arboretum but we didn't see any markers there either so we didn't know what we were looking at.

Caldwell Park is a spacious public green space located in Riverside, offering various amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features picnic and BBQ areas, a gazebo, and a skate park, making it an ideal spot for families. Children can have fun at the play areas and splash pad during the summer months. Additionally, there are trails for leisurely walks or more challenging hikes, as well as a dog park and horse trails.
This is a great park with lots of different things to do. There is a large pool with 2 water slides, a skate park, river accessibility, nice trails, playground, fish viewing area along the river and many other fun options for pretty much anybody. I took some photos the other day of the river flooding much of the waters edge after all this rain. If you found this review useful please like my post. Thanks

Nice park. Well kept. Some druggies roaming. Busy often. Large space though. Playground, Water, & public bathrooms are all available as well.

Great park with lots to do and nice areas to play. Next to the river and very scenic, has a boat launch and a nice play area. Has a pool and areas to ride your bike. There is a skatepark nearby also. I think there is a restaurant inside the park somewhere. The park is overall great. Things to be aware of are the bathrooms are usually unavailable but they usually have a porta potty open, and there can be a lot of homeless people near the entrance. Would be 5 stars if the bathrooms were available more often. The homeless people usually mind their own business but I did once see one pee on a tree right in front of everyone right at the entrance which was pretty nasty.

A super awesome spot to hang out with your family. Has a really cool outdoor dirt bike track, playground and a pool. You can walk beside the river and has lots of beautiful trees and green grass. You should definitely check it out. I'm glad I did!

One of the only places in Redding that actually has shade, and abundant shade at that. Park is beautiful although not much to do or see unless your a kid which is pleasing to say they do have a skate park, and bike jumps, and swimming pool/slide, and a volleyball court as well. other then that, there's various seating and benches spread thru out the park and only dislike is that each bench or table is so far from the next. But at least there's shade.:) There's always a lot of activities going on there but if your not involved in the activities yourself, it's still nice to walk thru and sit in the park and watch the big flock of geese wander from visitor to visitor, or chase each other. Never a dull moment yet the place to rest and relax as well.
BossBabeGngstaMade — Google review
Caldwell Park used to be a gem, but it's really gone downhill. My husband and I recently visited, and it was a shadow of the beautiful place I remember. The lack of maintenance is immediately obvious—the landscaping is a mess, there are dried-up dirt piles where trees are missing, and even fallen trees that haven't been cleared away. What's more, the park no longer feels safe. We saw a lot of sketchy individuals and even someone who seemed to be living out of their camper with a generator running. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our car and didn't stay long. It's truly sad, as this was once the perfect spot for family outings; my daughter even had her first birthday here. To make matters worse, people on motorized rental scooters were riding at high speeds with no regard for anyone else. We even saw a teenager chasing the geese on one. It's a shame to see a place that once felt so peaceful and well-kept become so neglected and, frankly, unsafe. I wouldn't recommend it and certainly wouldn't bring my grandkids here.

It's always fun to go, they are regular with new additions to what they offer I feel there's always something new. Their staff is always super friendly and helpful. It's fun to just mini golf which is very age friendly, there's go carts for older kids, a Lazer maze and Lazer tag which are a fun experience, and ax throwing is a fun time. The golfing is very fun to go to in the Christmas time as they put up lights around the course, their workers do a fantastic job when I asked who they hired they said it was all the staff on hand which I was impressed and surprised by!!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Indoor arcade was clean with a large selection of games. The outdoor mini-golf course gives you two 18-hole options. The holes are challenging but fun to play. The go-karts are a blast!! At night the place is beautifully lit and lots of fun. There's food and drinks for all ages. We love coming here. Our daughter worked here and later her son. This place has changed a lot since I was young. For the most part it been all for the better. Recently I was trying to book a venue last minute for my son's birthday. His first choice was rare air. However since he had taken so long to decide rare air was already all booked up. Unwilling to work with me in the slightest... Oasis fun center on the other hand. Even though their online booking said they were also full. I called and they had no problem finding a windows to accommodate us. My son and his friends had a blast. Playing laser tag, riding the go-carts, and playning mini golf. Not to mention the 50+ stuffed animal keychains they brought home from one of their claw machines.

Buy the GAME CURRENCY at the ( Kiosk ) towards the back & towards the mini golf area. Do NOT Buy Game Currwncy on Your Device, through the app at least for the 1st time; unless u have excellnt service everywhere!!! Any how the Cell Service is Horribly Bad "Inside". No wi-fi access. Post paid Verizon. Anyhow I bought the deal they had after scanning a game with my device. Then apparently I couldn't use my device at some machines because of the ability to connect to the rest of the world in a city the size of Redding, CA. In 2025 is apparently not possible! Lol So I am stuck with a bunch of useless digital currency that I can NOT use. Lol figures. So I paid cash for mini golf for the lady and I,& we made the best of it... I guess it was kinda worth some of the disappointment because we did have a good time all together! The manager seems tech/wifi deficient. Because it is so supper easy to set up a protected guest network on ANY router now a days. No offer of a refund or some other type of correction action was taken on the facilities part for our trouble. Except on one game that didn't activate the Pez dispensing game after taking my credit twice. The kid was somehow able to help me when the manager was rude and got me back those funds to a usless account I can't use reliably there...
Xion F — Google review
Went in on Father's Day and played a little mini golf and also went through the laser maze. Mini golf is always worth it and we had a great time. The place was quite busy but we still were able to enjoy ourselves and didn't feel like we were too crowded playing golf. The laser maze our daughter really wanted to go through so we went with her. It was fun but not what I expected. Would probably not do the laser maze again.

We drove past here every time on our way back from OR except this time, 07/13/22. I saw the go-kart advertisement somewhere and decided to give it a try this time. The prices were very reasonable and the track was fairly lengthy with great twists and turns. Karts were zippy. We also played a game of lazer tag. The arena was fairly big compared to other different locations. It had multiple levels and a slide. The gun version nowadays require 2 hands to activate vs one hand back then. Only negative was the AC inside the arena, either not turned on or too low. We were drenched in sweat afterwards and had to stand underneath the blowing AC in the arcade room. Next time we're nearby and with ample time, we'll return for the track and arena. 4.5/5 for the overall price, track, and the laser tag arena. Arcade area and overall inside are small.

Took Mule to 4 corners, to Meiners loop to catch Escalator (which I LOVED!!!) It was a fun climb that is not super technical but you can crank it and go fast, to Summit Trail and up to the top of Bear Mnt, then down Snail Trail (which was a BLAST to crank it going down!) and Mules Loop to the parking area. 15 miles???? My first time in Redding. I lucked out and found a friendly local to ride with. People here are so nice, the trails were in great condition (it was misting the whole time when I rode) and I think Escalator and Snails Trail are my two favorite northern California trails. I love it here!!! (PS: I was having too much fun going down Snails to stop and take pictures of that trail.)

The outfield walls of Big League Dream Redding's softball club require reparation with stucco or another suitable material. Aside from this, the facility is remarkable. It provides an enjoyable venue for playing in a softball league, boasting a cool atmosphere and homey ambiance. The batting cages are well-maintained and affordably priced, offering loads of fun. Morrison, a helpful young individual at the cages, comes highly recommended alongside the rest of the facility's staff.
Fun place to get your sports on! Tons of fields to play on and great atmosphere for all ages. Don't forget to check out the sports bar before heading out to play for a snack or a beverage of choice. Batting cages are cool too.
Kyle F — Google review
The baseball fields at this complex are atrocious. It is dated and in very rough shape. They have patched the turf in several areas and on all the fields. The patch jobs are so bad leaving raised edges that the balls can take bad hops off of and cause injury. On the plus side, now that it is no longer Big League Dreams fields you can bring in coolers instead of being subjected to eating over priced and poorly cooked food from the one and only concession.
Alisha T — Google review
Admission=$7.00 3 hot dogs=$23.00 1 Pretzel=$6.50 1 Bottle water=$3.00 The concession stand is pretty expensive, the fields are in need of major repairs, grounds need proper maintenance, tournament plays with no scoreboards (they have not operated in years), it's an embarrassment when people come from all around to the sports complex, fields are not in top condition, Redding needs to take a little more pride in their sports complex. Viking Skate Country is a nostalgic skating rink that takes you back to the good old days. It offers axe throwing at Timberlords Axe Throwing and a variety of activities at Oasis Fun Center, including go-karts, laser tag, bumper boats, and mini golf. The adult nights are popular among locals for a healthy nightlife option. While some staff members are friendly, others may seem indifferent. The place is cash-only and doesn't allow outside food or drink.
I LOVE Viking Skate. I skate 2-3 times a week and I really enjoy myself here. The entry prices are great! The same goes for the food, good price and good service. The staff is also great! they're helpful and understanding if you have any problems with your skates or skaters on the floor. The music is good but they allow you to bring your own headphones if you don't like what they play there. The Dj is usually pretty involved with the crowd and will sometimes take song requests. The games are fun and most of them are for everyone meaning you can play even if you aren't the best skater and if you win you can get a small free soda. You can come even if you don't like to skate! They have an arcade that is pretty small but they have air hockey, basketball, racing games, claw machines, a shooting game, foosball and a few other games that aren't coming to mind. I'm not entirely sure if they have air conditioning or not because it's usually pretty warm in there so i'd say just come in lighter clothes and you'll be fine. Anyways LOVE Viking Skate and would totally recommend coming here with friends!!

I’m not normally one to write reviews good or bad but unfortunately we had the worst time. My daughter has been looking forward to skating for her birthday pretty much all year (we live in the mountains so getting down to skate all the time is hard) We had a van full of her friends and arrived 15 mins early to ensure quick and easy load into the roller rink. We quickly were told we couldn’t bring in her cupcakes and presents, okay fine we can adapt. I get back from the car to my husband informing me that my daughter and her friends personal skates were not allowed (mind you we have skated here with THOSE skates before). Okay, should have asked for my money back and left in that moment. We get in, get the kids rental skates and proceed to make the best of it. My daughter who is usually lapping people on the rink staying on her feet can’t even get around the rink without falling. So now we have to spend money for the awful skate helper things that truly don’t work especially with the shitty skate rentals on top of it.. She is miserable and doesn’t want to skate,(which is what she wanted to do only) so we proceed to play some arcade games to make the best of it. BAD IDEA. You really should take all those games out if they are inoperable or going to take your money with nothing in return. Instead of you have signs randomly that says play at your own risk, so you KNOW your machines don’t work and don’t care if it takes people’s money. She is crying and saying it’s the worst birthday ever. So we left and took our money elsewhere. We most likely won’t be back, it’s unfortunate that it’s the closest option to skate in this area but would rather drive hours to skate somewhere else

It’s near impossible to get the attention of the workers for help once you are inside. The only helpful one was the tall red head who worked the DJ booth and he has not been there for a while. Makes me wonder if Viking Skate cares about customer satisfaction
Rowan B — Google review
So disappointing. I'm here with my grandbaby and our nachos are spoiled. I just paid for them and went back to the counter. The attendant with very long brown pony tail told me they just changed the nacho cheese a few days ago. I insisted she taste them and I also paid with a tip! She came back and told me they always taste like that. I had her throw them out. The music being played in this establishment for kids to skate to is highly inappropriate. Im so sad for our kids, they have no where respectful or caring to go. Owner please do better. Word of mouth is crucial and the lack of customer service your employees show is unbelievable. Also check your food! Someone's gonna get sick! Maybe have the health inspector come out!!!

We got great service with our group and had a fun time. Staff was friendly.

Really loved this place!! Very similar to the place we skated as kids, in the 80's. Nice place for kids and B-days. My daughter had a blast and wants to return asap. Yes, cash only. $$. Be prepared and eat before you show up. No outside food or drink allowed. Have fun.
Justus W — Google review
The Dj here aka skate patrol here has severe mental and authority issues. She bullies alot of the kids goes around grabbing people things as well as snacks and waters people set with their belongings throwing them away etc. She has the WORST attitude and some sort of complex. We saw her constantly bullying kids and taking peoples things/snacks and throwing them away. She took it upon herself to move some of our very expensive clothes and shoes sitting at our table. We along with at least 4 or 5 families will no longer be coming here til she is replaced by a decent human being!!! Get rid of her! She also took it upon herself to dig into one of kids jackets and take some purchased candy out and throw it away. She is complete TRASH!!!!

Lucky to have a fun, clean place to skate. Cash only, and there is an ATM on site if you forget. You can bring skates or roller blades, but admission covers the cost for roller skate rentals.

If you find yourself in Redding from Thursday to Saturday, make sure to swing by The Park, the city's vibrant food truck hub. This lively spot is perfect for families and offers an array of delicious cuisines served from various food trucks. Enjoy live music while engaging in lawn games or simply relaxing around fire pits with friends and family. With plenty of seating available, it’s a great place to unwind with a drink—whether it's beer, wine, or mixed cocktails.
Really cute little spot. There were 4 food trucks when I was there: Filipino food, Thai food, Mexican, and crepes/loaded fries. I didn’t try anything but from what I saw it looked awesome. They had alcohol and drinks at the center stand. Loved that they had cornhole, giant checkers, and other fun lawn games. Seemed like a great family friendly place to hang.

Love this place. Great food trucks, great music, great vibe. It would be cool if on a couple Saturdays they would open at noon and do an all day thing. I know probably tough with the staff etc.
Scooter D — Google review
Very nice outdoor hangout!!! PopRocks was playing... Several food truck options!!!! It was really quite nice to simply relax and enjoy friends with great music from the band!!!! If you get a chance to see this local band...DO IT. GOOD STUFF!!
Terry S — Google review
Absolutely love what they have done. It is so cute and fun! Tons of games and food and its nice and cool with all the fans and misters. Will definitely make this a weekly thing.
Bailey M — Google review
Great place to have a drink and grab some food. They offer mixed drinks, beer, cider and wine. The staff is friendly and always smiling. Lots of stuff for kids to do, room to dance and lots of tables with heat near by. Dog friendly! The food trucks are yummy and reasonably priced for the amount of food. They post a lot of information on their Facebook page if you are wondering what band is playing and what trucks will be serving food each night.
Katie B — Google review
Too cool! Great people, food, beer. Lots of fun games and a great safe family feeling!
Anne C — Google review
In the evenings this place opens up with a handful of food trucks and musical performers. The website doesn't tell you which food trucks exist, and there was an okay but small selection. It does make for an iconic part of Redding.
Nick F — Google review
Great place to have celebration I like how they have a small stage there. I think it a great idea having the food trucks there with the tables and chair bench to sit on. Soft lighting for night time party's.

Farmers' market
The Farmers' Markets Calendar is a delightful mix of local vendors and growers offering an array of fresh produce, meats, and plants. Visitors can find small vegetable plants, regular plants, citronella plants, and unique geraniums at great prices. The market also features mouthwatering sausages, breads, Indian food, and high-quality meats that are available until December 12th.
Small local farmers market has a variety of amazing produce and meats. Sausages, breads, Indian food, some.of the best meat I've ever had... They're running until Dec12 this year so you still have time to enjoy the mouthwatering deliciousness 🥰
Amenala N — Google review
Great experience overall… I love when they have the entertainment so that I Can stroll and do my shopping. All the prices are great, especially Julia’s produce ♥️ Thanks for hosting this wonderful hometown event every week.
Billie W — Google review
There were two vendors with plants. One had small vegetable plants, and the other one had an amazing selection of regular plants. But she will only be there on the next two Saturdays. Today's date being September 4th 2021. They had citronella plants and other kinds of geraniums that had never seen before at extremely low prices. Lots of plants I had never seen before that are not available anywhere else in town.
The G — Google review
I like this market very much. I only wish it were much bigger. It should have easily twice as many vendors. I was going every week, it's by far the smallest farmers market I've ever been to, and I've been to many. Can we invite in more vendors? Offer incentives to sell here? Many markets offer all kinds of foods, like the just jerky people could come, and more bread bakeries....
Laurel G — Google review
This is a nice market that has a good combination of growers and vendors. The fresh fruit is my favorite. Also, this is a good place to get fresh farm eggs, locally made sausages, and organic, grass fed meats.
Timothy R — Google review
So glad to see so many vendors today! Happy that Farmers Market is opened back up!

Great way to learn the rich history of this beautiful city.

It's a ghost town, with a CourtHouse, Jail, Museum - filled with relics & awesome stories, plus there's a stagecoach and barn. Also the main street comes complete with all the remains (buildings) from this once lively little Gold Rush city. It's a very laid back atmosphere so Feel free to walk about - and enjoy this unique experience.
Wildcraft R — Google review
A small museum with interesting facts about the history of Shasta county. Entrance fee is $3 for adults and $2 for kids over 5 years old.
J B — Google review
Closed , but still very entertaining. They have plaques up and down both sides of the street and they are informative. Really enjoyed it. The street isn’t busy and for a minute you can imagine the wagons and horses along a dirt trail. Good times
S F — Google review
A well preserved place for gold rush era. Beautiful brick buildings demonstrate the heyday of Shasta. Courthouse museum is closed. It’s relaxed to explore this park by walking on the deck and trails and stop by the introduction signs at one’s pace.
Chih-Ping W — Google review
Shasta State Historic Park offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, allowing visitors to step back in time to the Gold Rush era. As you wander through the park, reading the signs and exploring the remnants of this once-thriving town, you gain a deeper understanding of our rich history. While it may not be a sprawling attraction, Shasta State Historic Park is well worth a stop if you're in the area. It's a chance to learn about the hardships and triumphs of those who lived during the Gold Rush, and to appreciate the legacy they left behind. Overall, visiting Shasta State Historic Park is a rewarding experience that sheds light on an important chapter in our history. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the stories of the past and gain a newfound appreciation for the pioneers who shaped our world.
R M — Google review
Not much is left of Shasta. But the museum and ruins are interesting to see. Because it is so small I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. But if you are nearby it is definitely worth visiting. The entry to the museum is 3 dollars for an adult. The buildings are free to see for everyone
