The 31 best coffee shops and best cafes in Oban

This shop has a lot of chocolate you can buy for eating and also other treats like coffee, ice cream, and a bakery case. We ordered a strong dark hot chocolate, mocha, peanut butter and jelly brownie, and banana date walnut ninja slice. For a chocolate shop, I was quite disappointed with the hot chocolate. It tasted like it was made with water instead milk. It didn't feel very chocolatey or creamy. We thought that peanut butter and jelly brownie was good but more just brownie and peanut butter (I didn't get any jelly). We also bought some chocolate truffles/bonbons for takeaway, which were good. This may be a good stop for some chocolate gifts but the food and drink were just OK.

I arrived moments before the store was filled with a group of tourists. I spent too much time admiring the displays of chocolate, ended up ordering a hot chocolate after the tourist group. This meant it was a long minute wait before my hot chocolate would be ready. Had to cancel the order (my transport was leaving in five minutes) and settled with savoring a few chocolate candies while in transit.

Visit August 2025. Initially visited in August 2020 & the shop looks the same but they come with a lot of variety now. The shop is split between the chocolate shop with fabulous displays of different flavours that they offer and a café which has delightful baked good. Personally we're suckers for a good scone and a cuppa of hot chocolate; like the single origin that they use. They also offer dairy alternatives. They also had an accessible toilet which is available for everyone and is accessible to any paying patrons. Overall, the Oban chocolate company is a nice place to stop by to grab locally handmade chocolate and if we were in the area we would be paying them a visit.

The BEST billionaire's shortbread I have ever had! We stopped in to buy their homemade chocolates (which are superb) and stayed for a coffee. Boy are we glad we did! The coffee was excellent but the cakes were sublime. The custard cream biscuits were delicious, just melted in your mouth. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back!

The best iced mocha I've ever had, and I've had a lot. It was like an indulgent chocolate milkshake with coffee. Would highly recommend! Also has a fruit scone which was delicious.

Brilliant Chocolate Fondue, a must try! The home made marshmallows that come with it are the best! Recommend upgrading your hot chocolate to the single origin version as they are much tastier if you love chocolate!

Arrived around 8:30 pm even though the restaurant closes at 9, and the staff were very welcoming — no problem getting a table. Service was great and everyone was really friendly. The menu is impressive, modern, and full of tasty and healthy options. I had the creamy mushroom soup and the local salmon — both were absolutely delicious. My friend had the ribs, which looked fantastic, so I’ll definitely be back to try those next time. Highly recommend Cuan Mór if you’re in Oban — great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service.

This restaurant/cafe is centrally located in Oban. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The eggs Benedict were excellent. Coffee not as good; a bit burnt. Nice atmosphere, quick service and nice staff. Recommend this place. 👍👍👍

Restaurant was really busy, we were here during the October week so Oban in general was busy but we were given a table for 3 really quickly and didn't wait long for our food. Enjoyed my mussels n fries and my daughter had the scampi tacos, she also liked. Fish n chips were good, considering we ordered from the lunch menu, portions were enough but main courses were £12 and under. Would recommend for lunch and a pint.

Lovely little restaurant next to the harbour with a wide variety of meals including venison burger and pie. Great value for money. I've eaten here 3 times in the last 2 weeks as I really enjoyed the food. The specials are usually excellent some of which gave been haggis spring rolls and mixed grill

Stopped in twice off of recommendations for the gluten free menu (for celiac) and was not disappointed, at all, nor were my gluten-eating friends. Had the rib platter which had fantastic flavors at a surprisingly good value while my friends tried the muscles and a pie. Busy spot and they can be dashing around but everyone is friendly, just give them a moment

Satay chicken was quite good, corn ribs was just boiled corn and mayo, and the steak frites were disappointing. Even though the sides and the peppercorn sauce was quite good, the steak itself was unevely cooked, indicating that it was possibly frozen and not fully thawed. For dessert, we wanted to try the 6 layer fudge cake, only to be let down as it also seemed reheated from frozen. Overall, the prices were quite good for the portions, however, the fact that the steak might be from frozen concerns me about the quality of the upscale steakhouse in the back... Staff was kind and helpful, but some dirty napkins and cutlery were overlooked between courses.

Called in after a hike up Beinn Lora, staff were friendly food smelt great from outside. I had the handmade burger, for me it was just right, so nice to have a genuinely flame grilled burger 🍔. I ate it too fast to take a picture. My wife had ribs, she really enjoyed them too. Couple of pints ❤️ Hearty grub after a hill walk 👍🏻

Nice looking restaurant on the water, but unfortunately the food was sup-par. I got the soup special, which was minestrone, but tasted just like the canned soup you get from the supermarket. At £7.50, it was overpriced and very underwhelming. We also got a margherita pizza that lacked basil (kind of a key ingredient here) and only tasted like something after dumping a lot of Parmesan on it. Husband’s pasta was equally bland. A flatbread appetizer was also overpriced and underwhelming. We were only passing through, but have to think there’s better food in Oban.

We had lunch here on the pier in Oban - it exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. I had thought it was strictly pizza and Italian dishes, but I had the most amazing dressed crab dish. It was fantastic. The locations looks much different on the inside than what the outside presents - it is lovely and very welcoming inside. The staff was terrific. Very enjoyable.

This is the place you end up at if you haven’t made a reservation at a better restaurant. Food is passable. I got linguine with sea bass. The mushroom sauce was good, but the sea bass was overcooked and flavorless. Presentation-wise, the cook didn’t work hard. The brown food was placed on a plate. Done and dusted. Speaking of dusted…when they come round with a bowl of pre-grated Parmesan, get more than you usually would, because that’s going to be your best flavor note. Service was a team effort, and they were cheerful, attentive and efficient. Great location on the harbor.

Tried Piazza on Saturday night, table booked for 4 people. Lovely views across the water and pier. We were seated straight away and drinks order taken. Restaurant was rather busy but that didn't affect the service or standard of food. We tried the Minestrone soup, flatbread, goats cheese crostini for starters and were delicious. Then ordered the spinach & ricotta tortellini, pollock alla aglio and from the kids menu chicken tenders and spaghetti bolognese. Every meal was cooked to perfection and throughly enjoyed it. Price was average around £90 for 3 adults 1 child having 4 starters, 4 mains and 8 drinks. Highly recommend and i will definitely be back again. Recommend booking a table as there was a queue out the door when we were leaving. Toilets on ground floor, wheelchair accessible, spread over 2 levels, there is parking but usually busy at weekends.

Food was good quality, service was great (friendly, warm and informative). Such a shame it was let down by portion sizes. Pizza was just tiny. 8”, maybe 9” if you were being generous. See photo - my hands aren’t large…. I would have ordered a second but at £16 I decided to leave it there

Great location, well presented, friendly staff, lots of choice for food and drinks. Family friendly. Could do with a little more space between tables as it appeared too cozy and more into than I like with fellow patrons, and going pastbothers to get to the toilet facilities was a challenging task.

Excellent service and tasty food. Felt the restaurant would of benefited from some background music playing over the speakers. I enjoyed my starter of butternut squash risotto, however I found the size of the portion to be very small. Extensive wine list to choose from. Reservations are recommended in advance. Very tasty fish and chips. My friends scallops were the biggest scallops I've ever seen and she enjoyed them. Disappointed with the cheap poor quality salt and pepper & wine glasses.

Such a nice place. It's calm, the staff is very nice and the food is delicious. Portions are a bit small for the price, but I don't mind as it's very good. I had the cauliflower croquettes (£18) and almond cake for dessert (£8)

My husband and I saw this place on a highly rated list of restaurants in Oban, safe to say this place really lived up to the hype! Our first visit & evening in Scotland and it far exceeded our expectations , especially for the prices, so reasonable for the incredible experience. We had the scallops, the sole, the beef and the mussels, along with a few desserts and each dish was clearly made with expertise and love. The staff are lovely too, we highly recommend everyone to try this incredible restaurant!

Food was amazing. Service was quite quick. If I have any critique, it is that they are so busy, because of their amazing food, that you don't really have time to get to know your server.

Excellent hospitality & great food. Menu offers various choices between fish & meat which bring some challenges on what to choose. I really liked my venison with the vegetables. Starter was delicious, i was a bit unlucky which got exchanged immediately with a new one and came on the house with the bill. Superb service! The rhubarb ginger sponge cake was superlicious

We had a truly delightful meal here. We booked ahead for our first night in Oban, and we’re so glad we did. Delicious vegetarian dishes (including the Goat’s Cheese Salad and Butternut Squash Risotto, pictured), but also well-executed classics—my husband loved the fish and chips. Nicola is such a kind and welcoming host. It all made for a lovely evening!

Oban Fish & Chips The atmosphere was warm, cozy, and very welcoming. The seating area is on the smaller side, but that actually added to the charm and made the experience feel even more enjoyable. We ordered the classic fish and chips along with tea, and it was served properly on a plate with a tea cup — a lovely touch compared to some other places. The fish and chips were absolutely fabulous, cooked perfectly, and easily some of the best we’ve had. We were seated right away, though we quickly realized we had timed it perfectly, as people were waiting shortly after we arrived. The service was excellent — the waitress was clearly very busy but never lost her smile and made everyone feel welcome. For the quality of food and service we received, the price was very good and absolutely worth it. We’ll definitely return on our next visit to Oban and highly recommend this little gem to anyone looking for a proper fish and chips experience.

We stopped in for lunch yesterday before sailing to Mull. Steve had the large haddock and chips and I had the salt and pepper squid with chips. Both were cooked to perfection and the portion sizes did not disappoint at all! Delicious food and a great space to relax in. The background music was good too! If you’re in Oban and fancy some fish and chips then make this place your go to.

Traveling from the US, we’ve had plenty of fried fish over the years, but not technically what locals would call “fish and chips”. The Oban Fish & Chip Shop, however, was our third fish and chips of the trip. And definitely the best of the bunch. My family had the haddock, and one of us had the chicken tenders. Everyone ate every bite. The fried fish breading was super light and crisp, and the fish was full of flavor. Service was good and the food was served quickly and hot. Great value, too!

We ordered the Fish and Chips(cod), seafood chowder and mac n cheese. The chowder was so good, it literally brought my wife to tears. The fish was superb and the Mac and cheese was amazing. The staff was prompt, attentive and friendly. You have to try this place if you ever visit Oban.

Not the cheapest chippy but the fish is so fresh and everything is cooked to order in front of you , its definitely the best one in Oban . I had a few things when visiting , Hake , large Haddock , chips , and Scallops . The Scallops were very expensive but so good , so a wee treat . The house salad was also excellent with grapes and radish in amongst the usual stuff .

This place clearly deserves its award for the best fish and chips—because it absolutely is. The taste stayed with me long after my holiday, and I found myself thinking about it again and again. If you love fish and chips, this spot is a must-try.

Established and friendly cafe with freshly made lunches + cakes. Cosy interior with friendly service, busy at popular times. Staff very helpful with getting a table reserved. Classic food options with sandwiches, soups and some other dishes. Menu labeled clearly for some dietary requirements. Highlight was gluten free cake kept in separate containers and homemade. Lime + blueberry slice was excellent. Staff happy to answer GF questions and offer alternatives. Would recommend for a light lunch in a convenient central Oban location. Friends enjoyed other non-GF cakes.

my friend and i went here for a coffee and cake after exploring oban for a bit! the coffee was delicious, as were the cakes :) Lucy served us and she was so lovely and helpful and made our visit even better. pop in here if you’re in the area!!

First I had the most incredible cheese and pickle toastie, which they offer in a half size - bloody brilliant idea, and happily cater for gluten free and celiac disease. (Separate toaster = peace of mind.) Then when I told them I love baking, the owner declared she had just baked a GF blueberry and lime cake, could I wait till she iced it so I can have a taste? And wow - you wouldn’t have a clue it’s GF. It’s a winner.

Such a lovely, picturesque little cafe! Clean, cute, and such a good atmosphere. Loved the selection of fresh scones. We also got breakfast items that were delicious. 🤤 The service was so kind and welcoming. A delightful experience all around!

We took a walk after dropping off laundry and stopped here for breakfast after reading Google reviews. We had fruit scones, coffee, scrambled eggs, & toast. The eggs were steaming hot, light, & fluffy. The day was beautiful, so we sat outside. All staff were kind and helpful. If we were staying in Oban longer, we would return.

Hinba has multiple outlets but the one in George Street, Oban is where I got a great coffee. Had Columbian coffee today which was rich, fruity with no remnants of burning. Excellent. Highly recommend if you’re serious about good coffee. 👍👍👍

Absolutely loved HINBA! The food, the service wonderful, so glad we were able to pop in here and enjoy some coffee before hopping on the ferry. My only request would be "Get a BIGGER space" you're place is amazing. Will definitely keep this place as a favorite and recommend other travelers here too. Thanks -Yum!

Great coffee on the seafront at Oban. Not a large indoor space - some chairs and tables outside but the weather was not helpful. We settled on the Brazilian blend - warm chocolate flavours were perfect for the cold and wet. Service was cheery every time we went. Couldn’t fault it really. Highly recommended.

Visited Hinba coffee roasters on an early morning and was able to sit inside at the window watching the rain and people walk by. Enjoyed an artisan crafted flat white and chocolate croissant while a steady stream of patrons came in to pick up their daily dose of caffeine. Be prepared to select your choice of beans. Definitely a place to stop at for a proper brew in the little bay.

Visited many times in my few days in Oban! I really enjoyed the oat flat whites. The pastries were also fresh and soft! Super friendly staff too

Brilliant Coffee Spot. I had a latte with the Colombian coffee, so smooth and full of flavour. I had this was some millionaires shortbread, which was also very fine. A choice of Brazilian, Colombian or Kenya. I need to come back and try the other two! Relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a short stop and refresh. Great service, all delivered to the table. 5 stars

Coffee selection of three different beans. Columbian Coffee was just excellent. Shortbread was also just great and other cake collection looks that way you should comment book to try step by step through. Service quick, friendly. The shop is small and looks a bit as the classical coffee shops in Kopenhagen or Stockholm.

Went to this wee place for breakfast based on TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Brilliant service with a smile from start to finish. The lady serving us took into account our dietary requirements and tailored it to suit us. My daughter asked for the cream cheese bagel with salmon & scrambled eggs. However, she didn't want the cream cheese or the scrambled egg. She was given the option to add other fillings to the bagel and she happily chose bacon and avocado. My husband has a dairy allergy & again he was well catered for.

Proper Caf! Best Scottish breakfast I’ve had so far. Nothing fancy just exactly how it should be with amazing black pudding. Would go every day if I lived in Oban

Hidden gem! Very nice cosy breakfast spot! Seating inside and out. Breakfast roll was delicious, sausage and egg tasted like very good quality and was cooked to perfection. Coffee tasted great too. Lady who served us was very welcoming and friendly would definitely recommend and return if visiting Oban again 😊

Small inconspicuous venue with GREAT food! This place is just around the corner from the Oban Distillery. We ate here just before our 10:00am whisky tour and the atmosphere, food and service was amazing. Not a lot of tables so if you can get here early. If in Oban this is a must stop eatery for sure.

Booked for Ceilidh night. Fantastic, everyone mixing, having a laugh and fun, what life's about, certainly worked up a sweat with dancing and worked my delicious tea off,superbly cooked and beautifully presented! Lovely staff.

Absolutely fantastic food. The place itself is pretty laid back with pool tables and a basic interior but the food was phenomenal. The mussel portions are huge, fresh and flavourful. Loved it so much we came back the next day!

Decent enough venue, views from upstairs were quality, though was getting dark by the time we got there. Wasn't too keen on their draft IPA, BrewDog would had been better

Friendly staff Joe the bar man was fantastic and fun. Great place to chill, relax and have fun. Darts boards, pool, music great location and amazing views. Lots to choose from to drink and eat with offers on to make it even more reasonable and value for money.

Such a shame. I read a bad review, thought they were being excessive. Upon arrival we paid a fee for a fun night, was told by our server she couldn’t take our order because the chef would quit.. and she would let me know when I can order. After an hour and half of waiting I went for a smoke … and saw her leaving (had to laugh). Great place, if you want no food. Cheers.

Had the fish and chips at Nories and really enjoyed it—the fish was fresh and melt-in-the-mouth, definitely one of the better ones I’ve had. That said, I think there’s room for improvement in the service. A bit more attentiveness would’ve made the experience even better. Still worth a visit for the food!

The fish and chips were OK. I thought there was too much batter on the fish and it wasn't very crisp. The mushy peas were good. You have to pay for any sauces like tartar sauce (and it just comes out of a packet). There is some indoor seating as well. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy so we dined in. We had finished our food and were chit chatting when one of the employees asked us to leave because a large group was coming in even though there were empty tables available. Overall, I think there are better options for fish and chips in Oban.

Nories in Oban might catch your eye with its corner location and modern look, but that’s where the positives end. The moment you walk in, the layout feels scattered and uncomfortable—your eyes don’t know where to land, and not in a good way. We ordered fish & chips and sat down to wait. When the food arrived, it was served in an open takeaway box (while dining in!), which already felt cheap. The fish looked overcooked and greasy, and when we cut into it, it crumbled apart in a thick, heavy batter. It was more oily than flavorful, and overall very disappointing. On top of that, it was expensive for what you get. The quality absolutely did not match the price tag, making it feel like a complete waste of money. As for atmosphere—there simply isn’t one. The place felt lifeless, bland, and without any warmth or character. If you’re in Oban and want a proper fish & chips experience, do yourself a favor and walk right past Nories. Just across the street and a few steps up, you’ll find Oban Fish & Chips—a far better choice with a welcoming vibe, great food, and value that actually makes sense.

I must admit that the haddock & chips I had was very nice indeed. I was shocked by the price, but I really wanted to try it - after all, Gordon, Gino and Fred recommend! £13.40 is not something I'd want to splash out very often though...

Haddock and chips were good but had a few bones, which is not very nice, around 6 bones. Seafood basket was good. The sausage was tasty))) Overall nothing special. I think personally the chipper next door is better.

Second we been but this time definitely not a 5* like my last review. Had no large haddock so bloke gave me 2 bits of haddock small .not an issue but the batter was under cooked then the chips were old and dried out left overs from last batch. Me and my wife didn’t enjoy our meal . First time the lady was cooking the product was brilliant. Bloke did half job .

Good restaurant which is part of the Parle Oban hotel. Food is decent and portions are really good. For our dinner the server was a bit grumpy and very slow service however food was good. If you are not used to the menu it will be a tough place to decide. The safest bet here is the sea food and I loved the prawn dish. They had a Christmas menu and the main menu lot of food options were not available. Breakfast was very good and the server was good. Overall a good option to eat when you are staying at the hotel.

This is a nice, surprising find in Oban. It's Lebanese style food with a twist, using local produce where possible. We enjoyed all the food we had and it felt healthy and light. The service was patchy but friendly. We had three small plates shared between four of us and one large plate each which worked out about right. We then shared a pudding each been two. The puddings were really special with a good range and all very unusual. We really enjoyed the two we tried.

We had a good meal here in this restaurant located in the bottom floor of a hotel. Service was prompt, and the food was pretty good. They suggest you order some small plates (we ordered hummus and a salad) and a main (I ordered lamb kababs and my wife ordered chicken shish). All were good!

Dinner was superb.Very rich, with a lot of flavours. Staff were chatty, kind and helpful. Beer selection not to bad. Watch out for the 10% automatic tip added to bill - I would have left more if they had left it off.

Tl;dr food so good I almost cried My tour company recommended coast for dinner but it was booked for the night which I’m so glad because I ended up at Baab and it was better than anything else I could have found in Oban. No offense to Scottish taste, but I was not in the mood for another burger or meat pie. I got the salmon, was perfectly moist and encrusted with panko and the zaatar seasoning. It was NOT spicy unlike the description. It came with a lovely but light salad bed of radish and radicchio so I recommend ordering a starter. Might I recommend the baba ganoush (eggplant dip with flatbread)? It was smoky and garlicy and complex. For dessert I had the rice pudding, which was light and tasted like pistachios and rose water (in a good way). Not to toot my own horn but I’m a worldly eater and this meal was some of the best I’ve tasted - I almost cried. The design was pretty with lots of teal accents - super aesthetic. I recommend making reservations but they were able to seat 1 at 6pm on a Wednesday.

Brilliant restaurant. Throughly enjoyed our evening meal here. Nice spacious environment and friendly attentive staff. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The moussaka and mussakhan (both vegan) were fantastic. Good cocktails from the bar outside of the main restaurant.

Saviour on a summer roasting day. Massive ice cream scoop (waffle one scoop for just £2.90!) and nice flavours. Great cappuccino. Beer for indoor only. Friendly staff. Cosy seats. Seeing kids and adults holding a cone of ice cream on street leads me here. I am very happy as a tourist.

Excellent food and super cheap! You guys need to put your prices up, i want you to still be here when we visit Oban again! Food is definitely worth far more than the current prices. Absolutely worth a visit for anyone visiting.

They are definitely a tourist trap restaurant.£6 for a small sized meat patty burger with a cold brouche bun and nothing else, discount chips with plastic cheese. Loud obnoxious music with the guy working there going about singing. Even the hinez sauce was a discount version decanted into bottles. Feel free to go there if you hate yourself.

We came here two nights in a row as the burgers were so nice we wanted to try more, but also the staff was very nice. Levi in particular we would love to mention; he was extremely attentive, friendly and hard working. He was the highlight of the place! Cookie dough very nice also!!

Lovely little spot – had the best espresso coffee here, and the ice cream was just as good. Both were so nice we ended up ordering more to make an affogato. We’ve talked about this place loads since visiting over a year ago and would definitely go out of our way to come back!

Read positive reviews about being dog-friendly but we were turned away and told the two dog-friendly tables had a leak above them. I noticed other reviews where the owner replied to say this is incorrect and the whole restaurant is dog-friendly. It’s unfortunate that there’s inconsistent service in this area.

Lovely little cafe serving pastries, soups, sandwiches and cakes. Prices are reasonable. Although menu has listings for various cakes, the display case has only 4-5 variety. Seems to be short staffed in summer.

We had breakfast here, Scottish start, porride, eggs benedict, all were beautifully cooked, eggs perfect, the porridge was nice, only wish I had took photos to show you all ....but..was too busy getting stuck into our tasty breakfast before I realised that it was all gone. Did take them of our cakes though which again were all tasty. Coffee and tea too. This cafe is well worth a visit, friendly staff, clean and welcoming inside, there is a loo downstairs. GVFM

Excellent wee cafe we found!! A warm local welcome, just what we needed for breakfast. The porridge is 5*, fresh scones 5*, and a nice coffee. Thoroughly recomend. Would love to go back for a quick lunch as the smell of fresh pies, pasties and sausage rolls was amazing!!

Best burger for a long time. My wife and I both had a large burger with apple, goats cheese and red onions. Absolutely delicious. The bun and the burger themselves were so tasty and easy to eat. Definitely recommended.

Modern, fresh, clean and friendly staff and customers. I was in for my first time and customers were chatting to me and my baby. This is a welcoming community cafe. It’s spacious and serves really good coffee and food. There is free parking in lidl next door

We visited the cafe and soft play last week while staying in Oban. What a lovely little gem. Great space downstairs for the whole family with coffee, tea, cakes and food. Upstairs an excellent soft play and play area. Our five years old boy loved it. The only downside to this place - was it was freezing, but not much they could do about it—great experience overall and had friendly & professional staff.

Perfect little find, lovely cafe. Great customer service, fantastic children’s area to suit ages 0-8yrs situated upstairs. Different areas to suit babies. Nice comfy seats for adults to still enjoy. Free WiFi. Great facilities for children in the cafe area too, plenty of high chairs and changing table facilities. Colouring offered too. This place have thought about everything. Decor is lovely and would definitely appeal to people without children. Husband had a salad which he enjoyed too.

Great dog friendly café. They also have a "pay it forward" coffee scheme for anyone struggling with the cost of living. The staff are very friendly and helpful

Nice little cafe with a coffee shop feel. We were there about an hour before closing. The wife and I both ordered a burger, but the only had one left. The wife got a BLT instead. Her sandwich and my burger with both very good. We got some drinks and cakes.

Went in on a Saturday morning for breakfast but they only do hot rolls which was fine so ordered a bacon roll and roll n square sausage for my partner. 1 slice of bacon and the square was half cooked and like mush. Shame as it was decent the last time we were there.

Good for people with young children and clean and dog friendly. However food was disappointing, the mozzarella and tomato salad was let down by piles of limp and browning iceberg lettuce. It was a bit too dog friendly as well, a customer (appeared to be a regular) picked up her dog and went behind the serving area talking to staff before eventually being told by another staff member she shouldn't be there especially with a dog.

I had breakfast here my last day in Oban and loved it! The service was incredibly friendly and hospitable (Donna, the owner of the establishment was working and immensely nice). I had a nice chat with her about her baked goods and it's very clear she takes pride in her work. I had a fruit scone which was still warm and it was outstanding. I also tried the Victoria Sandwich and thought it was excellent. I had a mango coconut smoothie bowl which came with granola, coconut, bananas, and blueberries - it was light and refreshing. There is quite a bit of indoor seating and by 10 am, there was a line for dine in. This is a great stop for breakfast and baked goods.

Great cafe, aestically pleasing and yum food - had the full brekkie and flat whites. Unfortunately didn't try the cabinet but all of it looked to die for. Dog friendly too.

Love eating here whenever I’m in Oban. Their scones, pastries and cakes are all homemade and excellent. Service is efficient and friendly.

Lovely spot with semi self-service. Great variety of lunch dishes and an amazing pastry counter with fresh cakes. Quality and value were excellent. Perfect place for a meal or just coffee and cake. Highly recommend.

Great wee find in Oban. The fruit scones and coffees were so good we went back the next day for more. All the scones , cakes , quiches and pies are baked on the premises so they are so fresh . The staff / management were all extremely friendly . The breakfast menu looked fab too. Definitely go and try some for yourself . You won’t be disappointed. 😘😘

Cute little breakfast spot. We enjoyed a great breakfast. We ordered a traditional breakfast, blt croissant, sausage roll and pastry. Most was good, we thought the blt had a sweet tasting mayo, should have gotten it with sauce on the side. The sausage roll was a little bland. Over all the pastry's were amazing though.

I really wanted the Mac & Cheese, but they didn't have any left, which was disappointing. I ordered the veggie burger instead which was fresh and delicious, with chips. Mango tango tea was something different, that i enjoyed. No table service. You order and pay at till. Nice decor throughout. Friendly staff.

What’s not to love ! The Location of this hotel is superb . A short walk out of town overlooking the bay. The rooms are cozy well appointed with everything you need. There is a beautiful conservatory room at the front of the hotel where you can enjoy the breathtaking views whilst sipping a cocktail or having a delicious afternoon tea. The food is excellent and the breakfast delicious and plentiful. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough for you. The only downside is the hotel is not very accessible and the lift wasn’t working . There are a lot of stairs which did cause us a problem. There are a couple of parking spots at the hotel but no large car park. We however never had a problem parking nearby . We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and will be booking here again for next year . Thank you to all the wonderful staff who helped to make this a fabulous experience.

One of the best stays we had in Scotland was at the Oban Bay Hotel. The hotel was inviting warm and cozy. The service was wonderful and food was great. The town area was all walkable, Oban was an enchanting old village and the dock side dining is a real hoot. You want fresh of the boat, you got it. That was my favorite part of our stay.

Just had a work shop here today with Scotland Food and Drink. The lunch provided was excellent and lovely quality. Although there should have been some Isle of Mull Cheese!!!(me). Staff were really lovely too. X

Very nice hotel, even If the rooms are dated. The highlight for me was the absolutely perfect service staff. All of them were very friendly and did a great job. The service was a clear 5 out of 5. We had an issue with our car (flat tyre) and were assisted in finding the issue, how to get to a garage, etc. I also had the feeling, that the restaurant was underutilized as the food and service there was great. Even if it was a little pricey, the quality of the food was great, not only for breakfast but also for dinner.

A traditional Scottish hotel comprising an old building with what appears to be a large extension to the rear. We arrived a couple of hours before check in and they kindly arranged to store our luggage and take it to the room when it was available. The receptionist said we would get a phone call to say the room was ready. Even after the publicised check in time had passed with no phone call we made our way back only to pass the receptionist heading home!!!! The room was spacious , very warm with ample tea and coffee and very well known biscuits. The breakfast was in the "Grill Room" with the friendliest staff I have ever met in any hotel. The portion sizes were pretty small considering the price per head (£20) Well done to the staff though. they were a credit to the hotel.. All the staff were polite , friendly and always wanting to help. The biggest failing for this hotel is the lack of parking. Two spaces were available at the front of the hotel for disabled with a further two for EVs. A few spaces were round the back but these were filled with cars which never moved. We were told that additional parking for free behind the cathedral in a bit of waste ground.

We were not impressed with this hotel. Our room was blah. Clear in the very back of the hotel which clearly has several serially attached buildings with many stairs even on the ground floor. No answer when calling the front desk. Our breakfast reservation was made but the service and food was not well prepared. Hot portions were cold upon delivery to our table. My eggs and sausage were forgotten. Fortunately we found Porcini down the street for an outstanding Italian dinner and skipped dining in the nearly empty hotel restaurant. Skip this if you can.

On arriving and seeing the McD-style ordering screens we weren't too hopeful. But the options were good and the process straightforward, just enter table number per the markers next to the screen and take it with you to a spare table. Hot drinks came quickly, and food not much longer. We just had breakfast/brunch. Staff are excellent; constantly clearing tables and wiping them down for the next occupants.

Lucky to get 1 star…. Got treated like a crook because I took my own green teabag and asked for a pot of hot water which I was happy to pay for… All day breakfast was bland , a bit like the staff… NB11

Friendly and courteous staff, order is done on a self service screen take a number place on your table and wait. Service was quick but prices a bit expensive for a can of irn bru £4.70. Good selection of food and hot drinks, food was excellent. Nice and clean.sauses are in bottles that you take to your table.

Not very organised. Lorne sausage rock hard. No sauces offered,had to ask when meal was brought. Queueing didn,t seem to work . Yesterday was excellent with a very organised young man presiding and a more edible breakfast.

I had more than four years going regularly to the café, receiving excellent service when having breakfast or simply tea or coffee before or after my shopping. But the last time was definitely the last. A member of the staff decided to display her hostility by different means, including no letting me to use my laptop. This was an exceptional circumstance in which I needed to use it for one or two minutes to sort an urgent task while my internet service was interrupted while moving house. I needed to leave the café and leave my coffee untouched on the table.

A very warm and friendly place with welcoming staff who shared helpful information about local walks and about the history of the area with us. A perfect place for a coffee on a rainy day or for those who are interested in the history of Oban and want to talk to the friendly locals.

Stopped in for morning tea and coffee. Friendly staff, fair selection of food, plenty of indoor and outdoor tables. Support a charity and volunteers. Also viewed an interesting exhibition upstairs.

Went along with friends to the Africa night. We had a lovely plantain curry and rice with flatbread. The staff were very courteous and the place had a nice vibe. It is decorated well and is open and airy. The toilets were unisex and kept very clean. I loved the reuse of the space from when it was a school and wondered at all the stories the building could tell.

Delicious cake and magnificent flat white made by Milo Llewellyn. The service was also phenomenal, a true treat! Will definitely return.

Each time I walk past, this place is closed. Is it a front for something else?

We popped into Poppies on our way home and were pleasantly surprised! We ordered a small and large Scottish breakfast, almond milk porridge, and some coffees — everything was absolutely delicious. Big compliments to the chef! The five female staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Our children treated themselves to the meringue and strawberry Swiss roll, and they loved it. Everything tasted super fresh and homemade. Unfortunately, we did notice one of the male staff members wiping his nose with his fingers before handing out cutlery, which was quite off-putting. My wife mentioned it to the manager, who took the complaint seriously and dealt with it professionally and efficiently. Despite that one issue, our overall experience was superb. Excellent food, warm service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We dropped in at 4pm for coffee and cake with low expectations but we weren't let down. We had a large meringue cream and strawberry and a strawberry jelly cheesecake together with fresh coffee. People were still arriving after us and having cooked food. Was quite a large area with tables inside and out. Just walk through the shop to get to the cake display. There was still a lot of choice.

This is a must stop if you’re in the area. The breakfast is very good, they have nice vegetarian options. The coffee and staff are awesome. We sat outside and enjoyed the water and view. There were probably 8 dogs on the deck with other diners while we ate breakfast. It is definitely a dog friendly spot.

The food in the restaurant is really good and reasonable prices, and the desserts and cakes are delicious. The garden centre part isn't that big but all the plants look really healthy and good quality plus plenty of various types of compost etc outside by the shoreline.

On way to Oban called in on off chance and found this lovely cafe serving hot food and with soup of the day tomato and peppers served with a delicious roll and butter followed by delicious tea and cream scones highly recommend and the tranquil view Well done Poppies

Great view and friendly service. You have to walk through the plant shop there but totally worth it they have outdoor seating for you and your dog or sit inside. The place was very happening so all the locals know about it and love it.

Great wee simple cafe on the island, not many options but hearty portions, soup, cakes, coffee and tea on offer. The lentil soup was fantastic along with the lemon drizzle cake! Inside and outside seating. Well worth the climb up the hill and the castle is only a 10 minute walk from here with amazing views. There is also a toilet available before the walk back to the ferry. Kerrera was a lovely island.

Soups, cakes, rolls, crisps, tea, coffee and sodas. What else could you want in paradise! Wonderful staff, stunning surroundings, the walk is well worth it. And tea house is the cherry on top. Walk, don’t run.

A really nice place to have a cup of tea and a sit down after the walk from the ferry. Nice and polite staff and quick efficient service. The lemon drizzle cake moist and light and the tea nice and hot. There is seating both inside and out so even if the weather is bad, this place would make a convenient shelter and break from the elements. The toilets although busy, were clean and tidy as you would expect. All in all a nice place to visit with wonderful views and you might also see the peacock if you’re lucky. Thank you

We went to this beautiful little tea garden on Kerrera on a whole-day walking-trip from Oban that includes a ferry. Glyen Castle is just around the corner, so the two can be combined easily. The people are super nice, the food and drinks are delicious and all together the destination is more than worth the travels. The only potential for improvement are the disposable cups and bags for which there is no alternative. Make sure to be on time, as the cafe closes at 4 pm sharp.

Loved it. Food is amazing. Staff super friendly. The indoor place is cute, functional and I love that they are on top of recycling. It's just the perfect place to get some tea and treats after a long hike.

We went to have some seafood baguettes or sandwiches but they had run out of all fish. We ordered 2 hot chicken strips with salads. After waiting 15 minutes one portion arrived. Deep fried chicken pieces. The cappuccino was instant. A customer wanted to pay cash but was told they didn't have any change. Not what I expected in lovely Oban!

Me and my partner went into the cafe to grab 2 Chicken Salad boxes as an early lunch, when they arrived they looked very poor. The lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber looked as if they were from the week before and the chicken was rock solid and tasted like it went bad a week ago. The food was completely inedible and when I went to give the food back to the cafe as we didn’t want to leave it outside for the birds to eat and scatter all around the place, the lady that was inside was very rude, i tried to explain why i was giving the food back but she just told me to leave and put it in the bin outside.

No welcome, but we sat down. Asked for soup, told none available, asked for hot chicken strips, told no chicken strips, no prawns and no salmon (plus something else I can’t remember what she said). Bear in mind this was around 1230pm on bank holiday Sunday so not having all this food when it was going to be one of the busiest days was poor planning and shouldn’t be advertised. But what got us was it was NOT kid friendly. Asked for a buttered sandwich for my one year old. Told they could make it but they’d need to charge the same price as an adult sandwich. £8 for bread and butter?! We walked out at that point. Go next door it’s amazing!

We came as a family of 4 and have to say the staff were rude! We asked the waitress if they had sweetener and she looked at us in pure disgust! The staff did not know the menu and overall just rude. Really poor service and to be honest I would not recommend a visit by anyone else! Really wished we read reviews before. P.s manners doesn’t cost a thing

Bought a coffee to sit and enjoy the view. Coffee was very weak (double espresso apparently) and service ladies rude and unhelpful. There is a much better coffee across the road.

Popped in here for some bottles of water and ended-up getting a treat for the dogs and a can of local soft drink too (Paisley Drinks Co.). The shop / cafe seemed pleasant enough and the staff were welcoming but I couldn't comment on anything past that as I was simply a passing customer and didn't stay / sit-in for food. I had a quick browse at the fridges and noted the meats and fresh foods to be local (smoked salmon, milk etc) which would be a dream to a local, and someone who liked fish. I do have to comment that two of the three items I bought were actually from over 300 miles away (water from Wales, dog treat from Reddish, England). A nice wee shop that I will visit again but I will be checking what I buy next time. *I've rated food 3 stars purely because I didn't have any so it must be a neutral rating.

What a gem.. first time visit to Oban Juat wandering the streets, passing normal tourist hot spots stumbled across this sweet little place. As they say don’t judge a book by its cover. Service super friendly and the food (home made soup ) absolutely sensational. Very tasty, generous serve, super hot, served with a couple of buttered rolls for few extra pence. If you like good coffee, don't go there for the coffee. I ordered 2 americanos that you could see the bottom of the cup. I went back to see if they could make a new one thinking they might have reused the same grounds. The worker said she could add a shot at an additional cost. £5 for 2 short americanos that tasted like dirty water!

Came into this wee cafe before catching our bus back to Glasgow , the service was absolutely awful the two lassies gave so much attitude and when I asked for tomato sauce the attitude I got never mind the boy who was so rude , got a cookie wasn’t cooked inside , was hair in my toasted sandwich, definitely will not recommend and will tell my social media followers as well for such a tourist attraction definitely will NOT come back !

After hearing lot about this place . I stepped in for breakfast yesterday. The quality of food is average specially the breakfast baked bean awful . Veg Sausage was good . Scone too oily . I wanted to try the coffee everyone said it’s good place for coffee . Sadly but not my americano was too hot and watery I don’t taste any coffee . Matcha was very light i didn’t feel the taste . Very very light . No going back again . Service nothing much to say ! Nobody came to ask how is the food etc . So we paid and left . Need to work on quality of product and service .

Warm Welcome and Thoughtful Service We were greeted promptly and seated quickly, and I have to say — we genuinely felt welcomed and valued from the moment we walked in. While the vegan options are limited, what really impressed us was the staff's willingness to answer questions and cater to what they can offer. That kind of openness and flexibility makes a big difference. I had the full Scottish breakfast, which was excellent, and my partner went for the smashed avocado topped with a perfectly cooked egg — both dishes were fresh, well-presented, and delicious. It’s easy to see why this place is rated so highly by both locals and visitors. We’d definitely return.

Lovely little local cafe right next door to Costa. However the food and drinks were way better than Costa, and the service was 110% better, how do I know this, well sadly this cafe closed at 4, and we wanted a coffee before leaving, so we went into Costa, and we were made to feel like it was too much trouble to be served. Moral of the story, go local, more often than not you’ll get 110% more across the board.

Call in here for a quick sandwich before catching the train. My other half had a lovely sausage sandwich. I'm gluten free so asked if the had any gf bread? Yes I'll have a bacon sandwich. What arrived was a burnt offering! The crust from the end of a loaf that had seen better day? Why do people think that people you need to eat a gluten free diet will just have to except this!!

Popped in for a cuppa couldn’t resist a sweet treat had carrot cake and malteaser millionaire shortbread, tea and coffee, service was quick and with a smile, best carrot cake I’ve ever had! Went in one day with a pal and your scones were awesome, also the greeting lady was so very lovely and welcoming. Next day popped in early for veggie breakfast after dropping said pal off on the bus. Hmm. Veggie sausage rubbery and undercooked. Potato scone just oil through and through. The eggs were good. The service is quick and I suppose it's ok to go up to the counter, but I prefer table service, truth be told.

Lovely cafe and Scottish bookshop! The staff were really attentive and efficient and super friendly. The place ran like a well oiled machine! Excellent cup of tea (best one yet) and lovely breakfast. Everywhere nice and clean, tidy and well stocked. Would highly recommend to anyone needing a great brew!

The service was fantastic. We had a non-dairy need and they went out of their way to support us! The scones were brilliant (for the non dairy) diner. Best I Have had for a while. A relaxed eating area with some outside places, but it was too wet to eat outside the day we visited. A super cafe, a friendly welcome on arriving and the same on leaving. A really great hostess. Will be remember for her “aye” and much more. Will detinately return next time in the area. Sorry no photos, just come and t try the scones.

Wonderful place! I had the ham, cheese, and gherkin sandwich with the tasty homemade soup. Great little bookstore with all sorts of Scottish history and historical fiction and great kids books. Incredibly friendly and welcoming, great prices too! Highly recommend and would go back in a heart beat!

A bonus when we fell upon this café for lunch. We sat in the covered outdoor seating area, which was very pleasant. The interior was very clean and modern looking, with an area at the rear selling new books. The toilet was very clean and modern. We had Cheddar and broccoli soup, with a scone, both of which were exceptionally tasty. The staff were attentive and welcoming, with no time wasted in taking our order or food served. Lots of free parking too. A real gem of a find, we won't hesitate in calling again in the future.

A wee gem of a place! The staff are welcoming and helpful, the food is always fresh and tasty, and it’s lovely to sit outside in the nicer weather. I have some dietary restrictions and the woman who seems to run the cafe could not be more accommodating. We visit every time we’re in the area.

Beautiful little museum, individual shop with local artists, scrumptious vegan cakes in the cafe and the burger stacked 30cm high! Lovely view, lovely staff. Will be back!

We had an excellent lunch mid way through a hike to and from the foot passenger ferry at Lismore Point. It is worth reserving a table if on a sunny summer's day or busy weekend. There are both indoor and outdoor tables available.

Delicious almond cherry cake (best sweet I've had in Scotland!). And they serve amazing portions! Very friendly people, if you go to lismore you HAVE TO go to this cafe. You won't be disappointed.

Exceptional delicious cakes! The food is very fresh and the most important is the kindness of the stuff and the local people! Nice museum and local prepared products giving you the opportunity to help the community ! Absolutely recommend a stop!!

The Cafe is a must visit if you are on the island. The prawns were excellent. Very crispy and the Lismore Scotch was very nice. The service was excellent. Staff were all very kind and very helpful. Hours are limited.

Inside is a wee bit cramped so if it’s busy there is a bit of a wait to order but that’s about the only downside. Staff are friendly and the place is nice and clean. I had a bacon and egg roll. The menu was a bit hard to work out when just wanting a bacon and egg roll but we all worked it out in the end. Coffee was nice and hot and was quite nice. Definitely stop for a meal when you’re there during 5he day.

Right on the waterfront and the staff taking orders were lovely. Food came quickly however it was morning so not many people. Decent pricing and seems busy through lunch rush! The bread was a little soggy with the eggs and not very toasted but did the job of fueling us up.

Excellent location facing onto the water. Friendly service. Felt coffee was a tad weak and sausage wasn't the best. Plenty of chairs outside. Good place to watch the world go by.

nice little cafe with a great location. run in a friendly no nonesense style, they have a wide variety of food on offer. they were open to improvisations to please the customer and served us tasty rolls and sandwiches. only small cons are everything is served in styrofoam containers or paper bags, even when you sit in their outside area. and when it gets really busy, some things run out or are prepared in a bit of a rush, ie bread less toasted. but all in all good food and good service!

This is a small cafe that make’s sandwich, paninis, teas, cakes etc. Reasonably priced considering it’s open season against tourists. There is seating outside as well as in and open areas closer to the harbour. Yes one member of staff can be grumpy and gruff but on the whole it’s a nice little cafe!!

Had a really nice black pudding and cheese panini, they were accommodating with the kids making them buttered rolls, and my husband had a chicken panini which he enjoyed too. The soup had just been made and should really have had a day to settle as it wasn’t the best hence the drop in star but we would eat there again!

Worst rolls Ive bought. Links looked like they have been cooked on a radiator. Didnt even want links sausage. Asked for square. Bacon was cold aswell. For 3quid a roll id expect 2 potato scone on it aswell but only one. Feel absolutely robbed. This place obviously doesnt care about the standards as they have the best location. Id avoid here and get a breakfast from somewhere else. Never again. 18 quid down the drain.

The Salted Caramel Latte was delish' , but as always in a Costa ( regardless of where you are ) there's always a queue, and it's getting more expensive.... but worth it 👌 😊 This Costa however was a bit bleak … for whatever reason ALL the coffees served were in paper cups. I must admit to ‘ not being a fan of paper cups ‘ … plus, I’m not sure if it was because of the time of day, a lack of staff or something else, but the tables & window sills were littered with paper cups …. It brings the whole place down.

Really nice breakfast🍞🧈☕️. We decided to pass by Oban in our trip through Scotland. We had really good service by Petra as she assessed us really good specially when we were asking for a hot drink for a child. Just if you are with children, there is an option called babyccino that is hot milk with little cacao. Amazing for them!🫶 Toasts were really good. They come with two slides with butter and jam! There is a breakfast deal if you want to get benefit of that option.🤙😎

Large que but when I got closer I began to see why. This place is highly under staffed and far too busy for 2 guys alone. Never the less they carried on and apologized to those of us who were sitting in as there was no more coffee mugs left. Good staff going above and beyond to keep the place operating. Coffee was nice and facilities good with free Wifi and toilets

One of the best run Costas and unlike other places in Oban, it had green tea and not just tiny sweepings. And, very clean and tidy washrooms.

Went there on a Sunday morning, before leaving Oban. They were serving crossaints from yesterday ... Tasted stale. Not used to that from other Costa's locations. Staff had an argument behind the counter. That's why the low score on atmosphere too.

TWICE I was here to get breakfast, service was so slow I had to leave in order to not miss my bus, after I stood in the queue for 30 minutes on average. Exclusively teenagers behind the counter, some in training, with no awareness of the customers waiting in line, no apologies for the long wait. Avoid if you can.

Staff are understaffed. 2 people handling the Sunday crowd. Ridiculous. Good effort on their part

We stepped in on our way to the cottage as I was craving a coffee. It was the closest caffee and we took a chance...this was the best coffee I have ever tasted!we came back the day after and again few days later. Honestly you should teach other big chain cafeterias how to make a good coffee. Amazing!

very friendly Atmosphere with delicious food and the Best Coffee in Oban. The sponge cake was amazing, and the Owner so lovely, she made our kids feel super cosy and welcome.

My first time here - stopped in on my way home from Oban, having read good reviews. The cafe more than lived up to the reviews! My roll with haggis, black pudding and square sausage was delicious 😋 Perfect latte too, and all for £8.50 👌Staff were pleasant and I loved the marine-themed decor. Nice views to the outside from my table at the far end of the cafe. It was crowded but that speaks for itself!

Delicious, good value soups, cakes, and a solid cooked breakfast. A lovely spot for breakfast or lunch with views of the sea. I've visited the cafe quite often since the current operators took it on and I'm always pleased with the quality and presentation of food. The cake selection is great, usually including options that are not as sugar-laden is on offer elsewhere. Soups are consistently delicious, and the vegan cooked breakfast is good value and size. Worth noting that in recent weeks the waiting times I've experienced have improved noticeably, even when they've been quite busy.

Found the Juice Bar on a walk through Oban. Brilliant place. Nice range of juices and smoothies. All juices using good quality cold pressed juice. Nice selection of organic tea and coffee. Modern airy place and very friendly. Give it a try when you are in Oban, well worth a visit.

Wonderful time! Amazing tasting and choice of vegan and non-vegan cakes. The honeycomb milkshake is really worth a try too! Great chat with the lady who runs the place 😄 Definitely will be back!

We both enjoyed our lovely smoothie and cold pressed juice, the muffins were a hit too. Nice place to be in aswell with the comfy chairs and decor. Highly recommended
