The 50 best foods to try in Sandakan

I was here on 8/1/2023, it almost 2 years since. So idk if my review still valid. But during that time the atmosphere was very nice, you can feel the classic and antique vibes from the restaurant. Really enjoyed my time chit chatting with my husband while waiting for the surprise delivery to arrive for him, bcz it’s his birthday. The staff was super nice offering to take pictures for us. Wonderful memories. 💝🥰

Great ambience. It’s situation at the top of a small hill. But you can get here with car (not recommended to hike up). GrabCar service is available here in Sandakan. Peaceful and comfortable place to hang out with friends while chill your evening time here. Service not bad. Downside is a bit pricey but the taste is so-so. I bought the chicken & mushroom pie, honestly I don’t really like it. But my friend really likes the scones here.

Came here mainly to enjoy the garden view. Theyoffers a variety of dishes, from local cuisine to western options. I ordered the royal tea set, the sandwiches mostly tasted of mayonnaise, with little other flavor. The scones were average but decent when paired with butter and strawberry jam. The cakes, however, were extremely dry. Overall, it was an okay experience, and the tea set was reasonably priced, though the rest of the menu items felt overpriced.

The English Tea House and Restaurant is situated just a short distance from the Agnes Keith House. They offer delicious and authentic English breakfasts that we thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was charming, with beautiful views of the ocean and garden creating a picturesque setting. There’s plenty of seating available, both indoors and outdoors. The pie, in particular, was outstanding.

Excellent cafe atop the Agnes Keith hillside, overlooking atop dense forestry the skyline and harbour of Sandakan. The English offerings in tea and bites, the well-preserved colonial estatery wherein the teahouse lies, the beautifully kept lawn sprawling around the area, the trees and flora that rustle and shades winds upon every hilltop breeze, the well-trained service from a numerically small yet able staff, and the picturesque views its pristine location affords, combined make for a fantastic atmosphere, one I can myself comfortable in and lounge around for hours on end. I make it a point to find myself here upon every trip to Sandakan I make.

Delight Tea set - 2 muffins ( dry ), 2 veg sandwich ( 2 cucumber pieces and lettuce with mayo - average ), 2 scones ( doughy ), strawberry jam was okay, and cream ( thick and pasty ). Honestly the price was rm33.50 but not at all worth it. I came here years ago, it was not at all this dissapointing. The waiter was kind and funny. Ants all over the table despite wiping and cleaning. I wish they maintained this place better. View and weather was great at 4-5pm.

Came here thinking I’d live my British countryside fantasy, tea, scones, garden views, maybe impress my date a bit. But... woe. Reality was more colonial cosplay with meh food* 🫖🥲 Ordered the *Delight Tea Set*. Expected something elegant. Got... just regular Sabah tea. Okay lah, but not delightful. The scone? Flat. Tired. Like it gave up halfway baking. Cream looked like mayo sandwiched in as a prank. I ate it, but my taste buds filed a complaint. The muffin? Date took one look and said “no thanks.” Dense. Heavy. Very lame The sandwich? Let’s just say it looked better in the 90s. No crunch. No charm. Only redeeming part is the setting, pretty, very Instagrammable. Nothing much to expect. Just a local market. Selling meat, fruits, vegetables etc at the ground floor. Whereas food stalls are at the 1st floor. Lift is available but looks dark and didn't show number of the floor on the top.

A bustling central market that is lively and vibrant place filled with the sounds of vendors calling out to anyone passing thru their stalls, the chatter of customers haggling over prices resonated throughout the market. Stalls are packed with colorful displays of fruits, vegetables, dried seafoods and local snacks. The atmosphere is energetic and dynamic, with people moving about hunting for the best produce that money can buy. The 3rd floor on the other hand is vastly empty with only a handful of stalls selling foods. It is such a pity as the area is windy and airy with a panoramic view of the harbour.

Bustling market at a very congested corner of what is now more Grey Gardens than Little Hong Kong, although those into architecture will surely see how the moniker came about. Expected the food stalls to be average tourist traps but the Nasi Padang stall on the second floor (first on the left after you ascend the main staircase) was a surprise treat. It’s the one with the largest and most colourful spread of fresh-looking proteins and veg dishes that retain their form and colour, which is not always a given at such stalls, especially open-air ones. Had 3 lauk pauk (side dishes) sans rice as a wee snack for the princely sum of RM9 — a very fresh, non-spicy hinava/umai (fish carpaccio) with green mangoes, deep-fried tempe with just enough sticky sweetness and spice, crowned with sautéed kacang botol (winged beans) that has the right amount of julienned carrots and crunch. Humble ingredients made regal. Stomach still feels like a king.

The surrounding of the market is pretty happening. Right outside of the market, you can see waterfront , harbour mall and lotsa shoplots. The stalls start to close in the evening so it was still lotsa fish, fruit, vege, clothing, shoes vendor in the afternoon. However if you want to eat the food which is located at the highest floor, come in the morning. My review isn't because the market itself is extraordinary. It definitely needs maintenance and better hygiene although the market wasn't as wet as I thought. Certain parts of the stairs were dirty with rubbish. That aside, what I liked gonna be climbing up to the highest floor and get some good ocean view.

A big market where you can find everything there. They sell a lot of fruits and vegetables ( my favorite). Sellers are friendly and always smiling. I realized that they’re selling a lot vegetables in the market but there are not much choices for vegetables in restaurants. Do you know the name of the pink flowers and they are for cooking?

Ground floor is a wet market that sells dried seafood, fresh vegetables, meat and fresh seafood. Second floor sells cooked Halal food and 3rd floor Chinese food. Many stalls are closed upstairs after the pandemic! You can buy fresh seafood from the market and asked a stall on the 3rd floor to cook for you. Stall no 11, run by 2 senior lady friends. Look for Ah Ling. Charges are RM10-20 per dish depending on quantity and complexity of cooking. Opening hours 0600-1300. Cooking standard was flavourful. Must try also their KopiO. Example. I bought 1.5 kg of crabs at RM18/kg. Cooking RM20. Fried crab with ginger and spring onion. Total damage RM47 for 1.5 kg of fresh Crabs. Enjoyed!

Good place to buy fresh seafood to take back home. Ask the locals for pricing tips and haggle nicely with the traders ...

This place was nice with their environment. Classic feel. We come here was a bit late lunch, many things was sold out. We order Kerabu Ayam Berempah was good. Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang was ok. Mee Siam was good. Their spacial drink was Cincau Susu with Gula melaka was nice. Salted Egg French Toast was good. Tea C cool was nice also. reasonable price. didn't get to try their tart cos finish.

I came here specifically to try the UFO tart. The texture is quite unique, a solid cookie base topped with soft meringue enveloping the custard. Overall, it tastes great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and pleasantly quiet, even during lunchtime.

When I was checking what is nice to eat at Sandakan, this kopitiam kept appearing apparently it’s one of the best. But I need to detest, maybe coming from Klang Valley there’s nothing really outstanding here. Both my aunty and I love Momo which is around this area. One thing I noticed at Sandakan even the waiter/waitress bring your food/drink to you, they won’t bother bring utensils and thus it’s self-service. Strange right.

The ambience is good The waitress wasn't that helpful, less attentive The laksa broth was not authentic enough, otherwise the taste was moderately acceptable The chicken chop Kolo mee, the noodle was very thick and the taste was very plain The Rendang chicken pie was spoiled, good that I noticed if not end up with food poisoning. The staff wasn't sure when was it prepared, she just guessed it maybe 2 days ago The drinks- Milo and Thai milk tea totally out of taste Sorry, we don't think we're going back here again 😞

During our recent visit, we enjoyed a wonderful meal at San Da Gen Kopitiam, which is located in the Sandakan town centre. The restaurant had a relaxed, casual atmosphere, and the staff were cheerful and helpful. Initially, we misunderstood the ordering process, thinking that we could only order desserts and drinks. Once it was clarified, we opted for a single dish to share from a set menu specially formulated for Ramadan. As well as individual desserts to taste and drinks. Our Order: ● Lamb Shank Bakar — RM 49.90 ● Roti Kahwin — RM 4.50 ● Mango Smoothie — RM 17.70 ● Hot Cappuccino — RM 12.00 ● UFO Tart — RM 3.50 ● Mango Cream Puff — RM 10.00 ● Pistachio Choc Puff — RM 18.00 The food was simply amazing; everything we tried was delicious! The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Lamb Shank Bakar, which was presented as a generous platter. Here’s what was included in the platter: Whole Lamb Shank, Spiced Lamb & Potato Samosa, Cucur Udang Jumbo, Nasi Arab Kismis, Telur Sambal, Cucumber & Tomato Salsa, Soup Asam Jawa, and a Secret Sauce. The Roti Kahwin surprised us; it consisted of a thick slice of butter and sweet jam between two thin slices of toasted white bread. While it tasted great, if given the choice, we would have preferred to skip this item. We found all the pastries outstanding, and we would happily order any of them again. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend this food destination!

Absolutely delicious meal, the soup (mee siam) was awesome! Just a tiny bit of spice and a yummy sour flavour. The prawns were also huge and super fresh. Now let’s talk about the pastries… OMG. The UFO one was sold out but I got super lucky and a fresh batch just came out the oven so i got to eat it fresh and warm, it was super soft and fluffy, delicious! I also got the mango vanilla puff pastry and it was delightful as well, super yummy fresh and sweet mango with cream & a balance of textures with the pastry! The best food ever! And super good prices! My soup was 12RM… UFO 3.50RM i think & around 6RM for puff pastry!

A great cornerside cafe in central Sandakan, a little walk away from the harbourside. Although a more contemporarily affluent space, its roots are still clearly visible and featured in its pleasant and roomy interior. The bites and sips are great, particularly to the sweet tooth, and the service is warm and cordial.

Tried the famous fish noodles. You can get it in different soup bases - original, curry, or prawn soup. Hearty warm bowl of noodles. Portions not so large that you can't sample other tasty offerings in Sandakan. Saw others waiting for a table - we must have lucked out with no wait. We were advised to come early before they sell out or close shop.

The owner character stood out. Chill guy taking orders. The place is crowded. Close to Tawau airport. There are many types of fish paste based including the noodles itself.

Never have I eat so nice fish ball. So bouncy and homemade, not some fish ball which made in factory. 👍!!! 💯 recommended. Their laksa with fish noodles- must try

Crowded in the morning. The owner himself is one of a kind lol He was funny and chatty. He made the decision for us in such a humorous way that I have not experience before lol some would find it irritating but I wanted a recommendation anyway So I tried: 1. Laksa noodle - the soup itself doesn't taste like the ones in KL nor the ones in Sarawak. It is light ish and easy to drink so if you like a stronger overwhelming curry taste, this might be a 50/50 for you 2. Handmade Dry Lou Shu Fun - the Lou Shu Fun isn't springy but it has some form of texture which was unfamiliar to me. Alittle like the Malay asam laksa noodle texture. The whole dish was alright. Nothing crazy. It tasted slightly better when you add the curry pork ribs sauce onto it 3. Fish noodle in prawn soup - the soup tasted exactly like a typical prawn noodle. The fish noodle was not much but the look and texture definitely very handmade in a good way. Generally I enjoyed this long fish paste looking thing which has good smooth texture. Also, I recommend their barley and soya bean who wasn't sweet and felt homely.

Probably one of the most interesting noodle shops in Sandakan. They serve a mean portion of Wan Tan Noodles with fish paste, which is out-of-this-world! Well known for their "Fish Noodles", meaning oodles made out of fish paste. My first time here, and the experience was somewhat surreal. The style they cook reminds me of 30 years ago, when wan tan noodles tasted so good and original. I found it again here. Next time I visit Sandakan, I'm coming back for another round. Apparently, this place gets super crowded on weekends, where you need to line up. Therefore, best to come on weekdays or come early. Price slightly on high side but No regrets at all.

This popular shop in sandakan open by 6:00am. I had the best fish noodles( noodles make of fish meat ,unlike others fish noodles the noodles is not make of fish meat ) ...i ordered a bunch of others to eat along ....truly , it was the best breakfast i had.The noodles was great, the others was delicious....i will come back here again .

Very good fish ball noodles. Their homemade lou shi fun is good. Texture is similar to those mi tai mu you get in Taiwan. The fishball is fresh, not like those commercial kind with more flour texture. The fried prawn paste is flavourful and tasty. All the other ingredients were also good. The laksa is good and thick but not overly santan. Highly recommended place for breakfast is you are in Sandakan.

Cozy place to retreat out of the sun. The coffee is really good, the food is delicious, and there are comfortable chairs to sit and relax. There's a free book exchange, as well as locally produced goods. We were very happy to stumble across this great cafe! Great free wifi!

It's a rustic looking cafe that's great for relaxing with a cuppa and a slice of cake! Loved their Durian roll!! The mango slice and the cucumber asam boii drink were just okay... Oh, not to forget their complementary cookies were yummy 😋 Service is exceptional as their staff were super friendly 👌🏼

Food: there are snacks made to order and a selection of pre-made confectionery at the counter, with different items available each visit giving a sense of variety and an incentive to visit occasionally. Taste-wise the snacks are well textured and sweetly balanced, each bite going down the palate nicely. As for the drinks, espresso-forward drinks such as espresso and affogato may possess an acidity that would need to be washed with water so for the untrained palate I would suggest other espresso based drinks such as the latte which are mild and more palatable, sans sugar of course. Service: provided some cookie samples prior to my order, my orders have come quickly. Atmosphere: relaxed and contemporary, there are craft items on sale and craft events as well, though I’ve not personally attend.

I love the cempedak float there. Rarely there's cake like this anywhere else.

Really great place to hangout. Spent time here with my mum for her birthday. The cakes never failed to impressed us. The juice is really fresh and the mocha tasted awesome. The staff is really friendly and helpful as well. Will always come back.

5 STARS! Wanna know why? Read further.. upon arriving here for first time, the staffs greet us with smile and brief introduction of their delicacies. What impressed me is when we ordered two mochas, and having few sips, the barista come and tell us one of it is below average of their quality. Here on sandakan for the first time we experience this. Most of kopi shops wont pa attention to this. Truly remarkable for me 😄 im quite fussy but their mocha is exceptional, the blend of cocoa and kopi really wakes my taste bud. Their signature cake also good with balance of rich flavors in it. Environment couple-friendly for me. I believe the barista can custom made your order, i observe his skills which quite scrupulous. Food was okayy. The seafood is fresh but i think the food was at the salty end of my tolerance. Food was well flavoured and the restaurant have good views. Century egg dumplings is also mid i would sayy. It is tasty but i cant really taste the century egg.

Food taste good, fresh & with reasonable pricing. We had steam crab as it’s super fresh coz it is running here n there super fast when catching it, Sapag soup was soooo fresh although without wine & ginger, salted egg softshell crab was incredibly yummy and last but not least the Yee Mee noodle was cooked with lots of seafood and taste outstanding as well. Overall I’ll rate our dinner 9/10 as 1 strange uncle came & asked lots of questions to spoilt my mood. Else its perfect dinner!

Came here for dinner, and the prices for fish and shrimps are reasonable. However, I thought the price for the lobsters was exaggerated although I think those were tiger lobsters, which are usually more expensive. The steamed fish was cooked to perfection and the fish was out pf the tank still alive. The fried squid is cut in big meaty and tender chunks and good size for a small portion. The spinach with garlic was good size for a small portion. Overall, I have noticed that they put a bit of sugar in almost every dish. I would not recommended the avocado juice l (too milky), but the mango juice is very fruity.

The seafood is fresh and tastes delicious. Everything was great until the rain started and spilled into the restaurant — the indoor seating area is quite limited. Prices are very reasonable compared to KL. Will definitely come back again someday!

Come back after 2 years++, the restaurant has been renovated and extended out further. The decorations is nice and good for photos. However, no one will greet and welcome you when we enter the restaurant, we find our own table then someone came and order the food from us. The service is poor，no waiters will serve you anymore after the food is served. The food is not delicious anymore, the butter crab is tasteless and not fresh, the salted chili's prawn is average. The seafood noodle is average. Initially we thought the steam siiakap fish has been forgotten by the kitchen because it was served after 30 min of all our food is served. The taste for the steam fish is ok, no surprise, however the fish still consider fresh.

Came back here because it used to be so good. Well not anymore. Wa Tan Hor tastes too smokey, lack umami and fish isn’t fresh. Very much disappointed. Can’t even finish my meal. The more bites you take, the more unpleasant the taste becomes. The hygiene…. So so…. Some of the cups are dirty, and all of them are still wet. Didn’t even try to at least dry them😩 Staff….. not really friendly. I wonder what happened🫠

This restuarant was a highlight for us. Quaint and full of atmosphere. If you like seafood, this is the place to go. Situated on a floating platform the sunset across the water was just as good as the food. Highly recommend.

We came here as one of the highest rated places in the area but still tapered my expectations. Before we turned up, we had to walk through the dark alleyway nearby to get to it, which felt unsafe. What made it worse was that the area surrounding it felt unclean and this bothered me because (and there's no easy way to put it) someone has cooked some fecal matter and spread the smell with a fan. This is not unique to this restaurant but I do believe that there's a shared responsibility between the local authority, the community and the local businesses. When we arrived, we found that the name had changed to "bistro 88* or something like that. The menu they gave was the same as the one online so this was the same business. Speaking of the menu, more businesses need to add more detail to their menus and this is why it lost a star. It's difficult to understand the contents of some meals (regardless of language or cuisine) a photo and a detailed description would help greatly. That said, the food was quite good but didn't blow us away. It certainly wasn't spicy but was fairly flavourful, which was good. We've attached photos of the food we ordered and the drinks among them.

Now called Bistro 88, this was a lovely place to sit out beside the water and enjoy a pretty good meal. Great selection and served by happy, smiling waiters !

Generous portions of well prepared and tasty sea food. Had a pumpkin/tofu plate which was excellent too. Price is compared to West Malaysia at the lower end. Absolute must try.

The food was tasty and fresh and the portions large. The service positively surprises with its professionalism. The restaurant works well, the food arrived quickly despite the large number of guests.

Very nice laksa!!!! The menu had 2 chilis next to it but it was not spicy at all. I had mine with seafood. Loved it. Harbour Bistro is the last one of a long row of restaurants. Just keep walking till you get to the end. Lovely location by the sea.

View is great, service is wonderful n friendly. Food n beverage ordered came very fast n hot. Taste of food is above average but have wide range of cruise to choose from local food to western dishes. Price is reasonable. What I really like is their friendly service crew

been here last week. Love it! If you are a seafood lover, you should come here and give it a taste. There are 2 ways of entrance you may access One is at the front as usual (start after from the roundabout) and one from the back (enter the left corner when pass by the roundabout) You can enjoy the sea & the smell of salted fish while eating. If you don't know what/how to order, ask the person who takes order to recommend what people usually order & ask what ingredients (liao) in case you don’t like to eat some of the foods. We ordered 1x kono mian (dried with sauce) with liao wantan/peitan with zhayok (grill pork) 3x kono mian with seafood ingredients soup base 3x 3C hot 1x milo hot Total price is RM62 P/s: the aunts and uncles there are geng 👍🏻 if they chat, never missed to curse & use foul words 😆😆. But it felt alive like watching drama 🥰 (just don’t let children listen & learn 😅)

This is the best breakfast in town, must be there early, having lots of variety. The must order is as the picture, don't forget the seafood macaroni soup, very lots of seafood and reasonable price. The fish paste with egg and flour is best too "Yu fu". The fish ball is very authentic, not those usual less fish more flour kind of balls.

The food in here not bad, you can try the dumpling and also the noodle in here. There are also dim sum in this place, and the good news is, this place open even on public holiday, and only rest one day per week.

Really awesome experience coming in here. Eating besides these residents are pretty cool. Their noodles are really good. Go get them sandakan noodles if u r here. It'll be worth it. Trust me! :)

Converted restaurant from house. Very traditional. Definitely worth a visit here if you have not been here before. Seafood is very fresh, although cooking style is mediocre.

Used to be a local chinese fishing village but not many are still living there after it was burnt down and rebuilt. There's a home operate stall which is a local favourite.

One of the earliest cafe in Sandakan, been in business for decades! One of the best place for soft serve ice cream and yogurt. They provide variety of cakes, savoury food, drinks as well

After dinner, go dessert at here, chill place. Got cake, icecream... Soft serve - chocolate nice Yougurd - mango, laici, lemon all good. U can mix it too... Happy to try

This parlor will always be my pitstop before going to the airport. Tried their mango cake, not really sweet but just nice. Tried their avocado bingsu and tasted really good. I don't recommend eating on your own as the portion is mostly suitable for two person 🤭🤭

I wish I could come back but it’s too far (I live in KK 🥲). The Froyo 🍦 is so good that it can even beat llaollao. Taste of sweet and sour are just nice. Warm, soft and crunchy from the waffle, more crunchy from the corn flakes.. It blows my mind. 🤯 So delicious! Perfect! Not to mention the ambience inside and outside the cafe. Cozy and beautiful. (Own pov ya) I have tried their new yogurt ice cream. Outstanding 👏 service from Mr. & Mrs.Lee. Boss & Lady Boss. After our meal at around 915pm, I tried to call Grab to my hotel but after several tries can't find any drivers. To my surprised 😮, lady boss came over to asked are we calling a car. I said yes tried to call Grab few times and no drivers. Then she said cancel, I will send you back to your hotel. Waah ! such a kind lady boss. Then the Boss Mr.Lee came over and my family of four hope into his prado. Within 8min, we reached out hotel. A very big thank you from my family to both of you. Btw, your steamboat is value for money rm38/pax for cooked and steamboat or grilling items. Fish, prawns, crabs and other ingredients are all very fresh. A visit is to Sandakan is not complete if you never try New Tropical Garden Steamboat. They give you free drinks, ice cream, ABC and fruits. Fried Noodles, fried rice, kam heong crabs and so much more. A must vist steamboat buffet in Sandakan. May God Bless Both of You 🙏😊

Average All Good I can say. Only the crab that they provided isn't really fresh, because after been cooked, all the crab's meat becomes like porridge. Normal fresh crab won't be that soft after been cooked. I would like to suggest more choices on clam instead of Green Mussel only.

I've been to the place a few times already. So far this is the only place I've been for Steamboat in Sandakan, Sabah. The view during the night quite nice. A variety choice of Seafood and they were all fresh. They charge RM35/person and I'm not sure for kid. I suggest everyone to booked first before come and do come early around 6-7pm because the food is kinda limited.

Nice dine in restaurant. Very busy during the evenings. The views of the Sandakan city and the ocean are brilliant. They operate a self cooking format, so they serve the soup and the ingredients, and you cook your own soup or grill he meats / seafoods.

Nice outdoor steamboat buffet. Very reasonable price. Food and drink included. Nice setting too.

Went there during saturday night with friends. Apparently the restaurants are fully seated and the customers are all crowding around the restaurants to get their chosen dish. Booking better be made earlier before to avoid disappointment hahaha. For me the soup and seafoods are a little bit salty but we get many other food to choose. The mango ice cream is so yummy i cant....... Wantan.. I could eat more than 20pcs of it. The air is so fresh and the view is so beautiful. The waitress was so helpful. RM33 is so worth it. For sure i will come here again in future....

Made reservation before coming. Seafood was fresh. All were prepared in a smaller portion in view of the smaller group size of 2 adults. We were staying at the Elopura Hotel, took nearly half an hour to reach there.

Food was good. BUT, lobster at RM450/kg, mantis prawn at RM50/pc, sounds like rather unreasonable prices, higher even than Kuala Lumpur prices. While food and service was good,my conclusion is that they are pricing themselves way above what they used to charge at their old restaurant. Not worth the overall amount charged for food we had.

The food is overpriced and underwhelming in taste. For instance, a simple corn soup is priced at RM80 per portion, fried "yau mak" (romaine lettuce) costs RM35 per plate, and sweet and sour fish slices—coated heavily in starch with barely any visible fish inside—are RM99 per plate. The service was equally disappointing. The manager displayed a sour face while we were ordering and made no effort to recommend any dishes. Overall, it’s not worth visiting. There are better options in the area offering higher quality food at more reasonable prices.

Food here was good nice. Cos is Seafood restaurant no pork serve. We just come for their Sea Prawn Yee Mee Wat Tan Hoo for two pax is RM39.00. We order 4pax is RM52.00. potion is not much. & we also order their famous fried sotong was good also. But price was a bit expansive than others RM95++ with Text & service charge. The Shop at the same roll at the end is good also is local food restaurant much cheaper price.

Simple looking old shop . What I really like was not their pastries arent sweeeeet. Even their red bean soup and sweet potato soup was in a ok enough sweetness which I appreciate. The wife biscuits was my fav! It was sold off fast. Sad The custard cake and the UFO tart didn't work quite for me. As for the signature red bean and lotus strip, the lotus strip surprised me the most cause it was like salty lotus feeling.

BEST PASTRIES in town!! Tried UFO tarts at other places, this is the best! Filling won’t be too sweet, the cake thickness and taste are just perfect. Other pastries worth trying too! I saw many uncles and aunties ordered almost all their pastries to takeaway.

We come here for their famous biscuit & Tarts. We come on Saturday was late. Their left not much things. We didn't get to try it. Sunday Morning we come again around 8am was a lot booking order maybe cos it was week end & Publick Holiday. Many people have book their things earlier. We wait for 1/2h-45min only get our things, & some need to wait longer time. Cos they prepare it morning. We can't wait more so we just order some. We try their "Lo Po" & "Kai Zai" biscuit was tradition type was nice. Cream puff was ok. Tao Sa Pia Biscuit was good. Ham Tan So Biscuit was ok. UFO tart was good. they have many type. can't try all. but quite good. Price is reasonable. Consider cheap. Next door shop was famous with their Coconut pudding. but we didn't get to try it. cos they sold out on Saturday when we arrive here. On Sunday morning they was not quite ready with the coconut pudding, cos it was not cool enough to try. Id better to try it when it was coll enough.

Highly recommended, there are variety of pastries to try out. Have tried both egg tart and Lao Poh Bing complimented with Sweet Potatoes soup as well, was perfectly great!💕

Among the better pastries shops in town. Many varieties, all freshly baked. Arrived around 11 am and all egg tarts were sold. This is a Low Jue Pai (old established shop). Come early for the coffee as well.

Very very nice seafood bah kuh teh very cheap 10/10 would recommend. All meat/fish bah kuh teh was 15myr each, while veggies was 7-8myr.

The perfect food to have when you are feeling under the weather. This shop sits next to the shore, parking is plentiful. I ordered a single bowl with mixed seafood. The prawns are sweet and really fresh.

old shoplot at tanah merah. the bah kut teh here is different. they serve prawn and whole fish beside pork. prawn is super fresh and the vegetable is also commendable. the soup flavour is more salty and spicy. definitely worth a try and you will enjoy it.

First time tried the seafood BKT, mmm OK only, may be not to my taste. But the pork belly & pork ribs was good, soft & tender. The soup is too blend for me, its more on pepper flavor not herbs.

This is quiet a famous local seafood restaurant. We purposely came to this place for lunch and try their “生虾面” fresh prawn crispy noodles. Its good and cant have enough of it…. we clean the whole plate with nothing left. Should definitely try their noodles. The place is open air settings, so dress simple and comfy!

The fresh tiger prawn crispy noodles is good. We end up ordered 2 plates (Rm60 for 4packs). Others are normal. Disappointed with the crab, i think it mixed with over night or re-cook as the meat is hard pieces when u scoop out.

Excellent fresh local seafood served super quick in a clean setting with plenty of large tables. They have both traditional outdoor seating or air conditioned rooms upstairs. Definitely get the prawn mee with crispy noodles, and the local vegetables from sabah. The fish was delicately prepared and the squid was fried but not heavy. Highly recommend the salted egg fried calamari.

This was a homecoming dinner for us together with our close family in SDK, we ordered in advance and reserved a table for 8 persons seated in an air-conditioned area on the 2nd floor. The dishes were “rushed out” to us one-by-one before we could barely warm our seats. All the dishes were fresh and delicious however one Thai-style steam fish really blow our mind for its refreshing taste. The service level was top notch, there was even a service staff dedicated to serving our table, she was standing near to us ready for our service. All in all, a satisfactory dinner and we would highly recommend to dine here.

The spring noodles with fish slices here are exceptional. It's a great spot for having some fresh local food. We choose to have some fresh grilled meat and seafood,but there are a lot of choice. Is it also possible to buy fresh smoothies.

Have your hearty breakfast at Stall No. 27! You might not see their menu, but please ask the owner for it. Aunty is friendly and kind! We had a great chat after the meal. If you wanna come over for super early breakfast like 4am or 5am, she is ready to serve! Her fried pork is DELICIOUS!! Come and try yourself. You won’t regret! Minus one star for not so organise stalls, not easy to find their stall number.

Decent choices of fruits and vegetables, has a wet fish market and limited selection of chicken in the mornings. Hawker style food is good from the mornings, but better choice emerge in the afternoons and evenings until late at night

Pasar Malam Kimfung, Bt. 4 Bandar Kimfung open every Saturday. Not sure what time they started operated. There are many types of food, drinks, other items they sell here. Probably one of the oldest Pasar Malam in Sandakan. Usually crowded with people. Best place to looking for some street food if you craving for one. Do come early as the parking space is kinda limited.

Located in the middle of Kim Fung Market. A place where the local able to buy their local produce, fruits and simply go had something to eat. The stall are by per table. Peak hour especially during the lunch hour, it's going to be pack full. Muslim food only 1-2 table and mostly are Chinese foods, non halal and vegetarian foods. There's places selling good traditional dessert, which kinda famous like Char Choi, terang bulan and Tau Fu Fa. There's a ice cream parlor that's served yogurt ice cream (which much cheaper from 7 heavan). Busy on the mornings. Great place to find supper foods. Close on Mondays to clean the markets. Well recommended for non local to come for a visit.

1 of the Sandakan seafood Bak Kut Teh. The shop is clean and comfortable. The owner is maintaining both the environment and the quality of their food served. Sandakan seafood Bak Kut Teh is not just famous with their distinctive herb pepper soup, but also the freshness of seafood used. In this restaurant they even have steam fresh sliced grouper with salty vegie and bean curd which is a must. Apart from that, the infamous fish LaiMang is another delightful dish.

Initially planned to go to another restaurant but it was closed. So decided to give it a try at this restaurant. Full house when we reached there except few big tables left. But there were only 3 of us. Fortunately customers of one of the smaller tables had finished their food and let us to take over their place. Food: seafood bak kut teh is special, but taste wise is not as good as those in Klang, less herbal smell. Nonetheless, can try it out whenever in Sandakan!

Came here for dinner and the bak kut teh was sold off. also, this price isn't your classic Klang bak kut teh taste so if you come with that expectation, you will be either unsatisfied or confused. Full house at 7pm despite it closes at 8pm. The crowd is still coming. Their vege here are all done in the bak kut teh soup. I enjoyed both their seafood bak kut teh and the salted vege mix seafood. The seafood bakkutteh has a stronger taste while if you like sour and light soup, go for the salted vege soup. The seafood in both dishes were fresh and nice;)

The seafood Bah Kut Teh has a nice fishy and scalop after taste. The pork Bah Kut Teh instead is more peppery. Either way, the soup is different from the one I am used to in KL and Klang, but nonetheless good and worth trying. The local spinach instead has the Bah Kut Teh a bit watered down, but still tasty. Owner is friendly, and you can only pay cash - no C/C or QR payment.

Seafood Bak Kut Teh seems to be a uniquely Sandakan food where seafoods is the main meat instead of pork ribs. We’re lucky to have the special 泥鯭 rabbit fish. It’s delicious.

I put a bit of an argument when my friend persuaded me to go for this place. I equate Bak Kut Teh to pork, and I don’t eat pork so BKT has always been a standard ‘NO’ answer. She persuaded me to come here and I was pleasantly surprised with the seafood and prawn options. It was amazingly good - and I didn’t know I could enjoy such ‘herbal’ tastes. Try the fish, the veg and the Tahu pok - these were my favorite. Peppery and the herbs with subtle taste, not too thick and not too watery. Service is standard family open establishment. Definitely a taste of Sandakan you cant find anywhere else. Very affordable. Recommended!

The bak kut teh taste is like 胡椒猪肚汤 😂 Not like traditional bak kut teh taste. But not bad can have a try for it.

Busy restaurant, waited a little while for a free table; staff running about (unorganized?) taking orders, cleaning, serving, but they are friendly; bah kut teh is average tasting; prices are reasonable.

Famous for their roasted duck, coconut pudding. Fresh Coconut drink is priced at RM1 a cup. The coconut pudding was more fragrant than the plastic cup milk pudding. I felt both items were on the pricier side. As for the roasted duck, the skin isn't the crispy kind. Compared with its sauce, it tasted pretty traditional. The rice was a turn off as it didn't quick blend with the meat and it wasn't hot

Tried their infamous coconut pudding, which is truly disappointing... Rm9, very small portion for one, and the consistency is hard. You can easily get much more delicious coconut pudding at berungis, KK , which only costs rm6 per coconut and it's big enough to feed 2.5 person. Roast meat wise is okay, found a big piece of undercooked siew nyuk among the meat platter I ordered. Not worth for driving long distance to try these menu.

Although the taste is a bit differently done by the old xifu during the old time(in the 60's to 80's) the texture is nice and the gravy has the flavour and aroma of shaoXing Wine is just right to the taste.

I'm here just for the coconut pudding. It is delicious but could be better, where I found the coconut pudding in KK is silkier. And they should provide the soup spoons instead of the normal one to dig the flesh out easier.

Picked this restaurant upon recommendation from the locals. Initially planned to come over on Thursday. Fortunately we called beforehand, it was closed that day. We managed to contact the boss and he informed they will open for business the next day. We made a reservation and shortly after we arrived, the food were ready to be served. Ordered 4 dishes. Seafood was fresh and yummy. Reasonable price. Recommended to try this out when you are at Sim Sim Water Village.

Where to eat in Sandakan? Kampung Sim Sim seafood restaurant. There are many restaurants and we chose no 90. Must make reservations. We saw quite a few people being turned away as the restaurant is fully booked. Food is excellent. Big portion for three of us. Can easily feed 5-6. The price is very reasonable. Rm113 for 4 dishes!

The place is small and bit understaffed, so they ask you book ahead the table and what you want to eat. The baby squid in soy sauce was something new to me, and cooked just right. The large clams with ginger and onion come in a thick gravy. Although I wish a bit more ginger, they were still very tasty especially when dipping them in the soy sauce with chilly and garlic. The dry butter prawns were the highlight with good size shrimps cooked just right. All of it with the Chinese lettuce for 118RM.

Excellent food and the staff were polite and helpful. The recommendation was just perfect for the two of us, which is hard normally since even the small portion can be too much if we ordered more than three dishes. We had salted egg yolk crabs, kam heong clams (so juicy), teochew steamed fish and a salted fish veg. Fresh delicious with no frills and value for money for the amount of food we had. Atmosphere was great with no cheap neon lights. There were a couple of people started smoking especially the one next to our table (didn’t even bother to walk further to the open area to smoke), had to politely tell the person and that stopped the smoking. The signs clearly state ‘No smoking’ so do let staff know if it happens.

Service, hm.. Depends their mood, i went there 5 times, 2 times the handsome guy face like owe him money, tone high. 1 times is lady, dont know intro menu to customer. Maybe she lazy intertain us, other times, is smooth like usual, really depends their mood. Parking is quite full all the time, lucky opposite still have space to park, just becarefull when cross the road. Food is 😋😋💯, taste good,prawn yummy, salted fish yummy (not every ppl will accept), steam fish good too... Overall their food wont maje u disappointed. Can go try. Atmosphere , dont have any renovate or decor, normal, near to sea view.

Good place for authentic traditional Kadazan Dusun cuisine. The only place of its kind here in Sandakan. It's a definite must-try, although it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Especially for those who're not used to the taste. I personally love the tuhau & hinava. Not so much a fan of bambangan. The nasi lemak here is not too bad. Their tapioca and ice cream is a must try! It is actually ?Boiled tapioca with santan and vanilla ice cream. Sinful but delicious. Prices can be a bit high for sandakan, but acceptable given that its specialty food.

My visit to Balin Roofgarden Bistro & Bar was nothing short of amazing. Even though the restaurant was already fully booked, the team went out of their way to find me a place – and I was so grateful for that gesture. From the moment I sat down, I felt genuinely welcomed and comfortable – thanks in large part to the outstanding service of Ezairil. His warm conversation and attentiveness made me feel right at home, and his recommendation of the drink Uinah Ginger Land (with passionfruit purée) was absolutely perfect – refreshing, unique, and one-of-a-kind. I came here because I wanted to finally try lobster, and the Slipper Lobster with pesto spaghetti completely exceeded my expectations. The lobster was perfectly cooked, paired beautifully with the flavorful pesto, and complemented by thoughtful details like cherry tomatoes and egg. Considering the price, the quality and taste of the dish were beyond impressive – truly excellent value for such a memorable meal. Overall, this wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience filled with warmth, flavor, and genuine hospitality. Even the background music was well balanced and added to the great atmosphere. I left feeling more than satisfied and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Sandakan.

We just came here for cocktails after dinner. Although the service is very attentive and friendly we found the cocktails to be a bit too light although they were on happy hour 2 for 55RM. The ambience is nice and the rooftop view should be nice if it not raining.

Very nice place sat inside it was to hot out in the early afternoon. The chicken Hawaiian pizza was over the top good! If you're looking for a place with a great view and wanting some western style food this is the place to come and eat if you're in Sandakan.

I wanted to see sunset and while I googled I came across of this place. It’s not that high but you can see the shore from their roof top. Didn’t get to y their foods but I saw some other guests ordered and it looks good. They are part of NAK Hotel which located at the downtown busy road. If you stay around this area might be probably noisy at night, if you drive may have difficulty looking for a carpark. But if you are just walking and taking grab then this place is nearby to quite a few eateries.

We had a pizza and fish and chips. Pizza was really good! The place has a great atmosphere! They have a nice roof terrace.

Atmosphere is great. Food leaves a lot to be desired. Truffle pizza is good tho. Spaghetti aglio olio is too basic for the price!

We set out on an adventure and our growling stomachs demanded attention. We stumbled upon the most amazing restaurant with a stunning view of the lake. The wooden decor exuded warmth and charm, making us feel right at home. As we settled in, we indulged in refreshing fresh juices and savoury Seafood Kui Tiew that were absolutely divine. Suddenly, the sky opened up and heavy rain poured down, but we were snug and content, savoring the enchanting weather.

Come in, relax and enjoy! Very large selection of cocktails. Pizza simply great. Service very friendly. Reservation recommended

Nicely decorated restaurant with open green view, part of the resort. The food is ok, not special, a bit average for the setup. Service is low and not personal. Good points for the view and location, at the entrance of Orangutan and Sunbear.

If you’re looking for breakfast spots in Sepilok, you’re not exactly spoiled for choice. Thankfully, the Lake Bistro is a pretty good option. Its surroundings are what makes it special, but the food is by no means bad. I just wish they made some of the dishes a bit simpler. For example, the rendang in my rendang sandwich was delicious, but I would have preferred to order it with rice (instead of a bun) and without fries.

The best place to eat and drink if you are staying in Sepilok. Great range of cold drinks - including an extensive cocktail menu. I tried the sunset mojito and classic margarita- both excellent. Tiger beer served cold. After having the char kueh teow with chicken (and chili) on the first night, I couldn’t resist having it again on the second night - freshly made, large portion and extremely tasty. My husband had a burger the first night which he thoroughly enjoyed. The second night he had the fried rice which he found to be on the small side. Staff were warm, friendly and attentive. A short drive from Sepilok Forest Edge Resort where we were staying and free parking inside the Sepilok Nature Resort when dining. We had tried to stay at Sepilok Nature Forest but they were fully booked. Note: Sandakan is only 30minute drive and significantly cheaper for food and accommodation.

The food was great! We ordered white clams, dry butter prawns and kale. Everything was delicious, as you may see by the picture of the empty plate below. It did take a little longer than your average restaurant to bring food, but this only shows that the food is really being cooked. The view from our table was also nice. We recommend 100%

Fantastic food, would highly recommend the salted egg crab. Tomato egg dish was also great. Many of the dishes had a home cooked taste. Service was not that good and the atmosphere is not impressive if you are indoors. Regardless, the food is so good I went back several times.

They don't have a menu but the food is really good and cheap :) 18 RM for 2 persons + drinks.

Exceeded our expectations for a hotel restaurant. After a long drive we were too lazy to go anywhere else after checking-in, so we went to eat at the hotel restaurant. Aside from some thoroughly unpleasant other hotel guests dining there, it was a nice experience. Pretty good Malaysian food was available in addition to the usual tourist fare, and we only ate the former. We particularly liked the satay, nasi goreng, and ayam goreng. The price was very reasonable for a nice hotel too, and our server was a saint for dealing with some of the obnoxious other patrons there with patience and a smile. Overall, the only downside was the other foreign tourists dining there.

Looking for comfort food? KFC may just be the answer you need. They offer the same fried food deliciousness that they do from other places. When you are unsure about eating at local restos, one of the best alternatives would be KFC. Ordered the fried chicken and fries as well as the twister and wedges. All happy with the orders which we given to us they were still hot. They also accept major cards here if cash is not available.

Located strategically in down town Sandakan, just walking distance from Sandakan Waterfront and Harbour Mall. The customer services and the foods are pretty much standard as other KFC outlets. More tables are definitely needed to cater with the crowd. Needs more often cleaning and tidy up as well.

I tried the bitterground soup fish noodle and found the fish to be moderately fresh, around a 7 out of 10. It was a bit disappointing considering the town's reputation for seafood. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the milky and flavorful soup base, which added a unique dimension to the dish. Considering the RM16 price tag, I felt that the dish didn't quite justify its cost. While the soup and fish had their merits, the overall experience didn't seem commensurate with the price point.

Love their Jia Xiang soup base where they use fuzuk and yam to cook it. Seafood is fresh. The downside is the attitude of the lady boss. If you are not a local, be prepared to face her sarcasm during food ordering. She is very impatient and ask funny questions. Me: I want a kopi please. Lady boss: What is kopi? Me: Kopi, coffee, 咖啡.. Lady boss: We don’t have kopi here. We only have kopi milk, kopi C, kopi O.

For the first time in Sandakan, a colleague brought me to a famous noodle soup restaurant. Overall, the soup base was not bad. The bitter gourd kuey teow with marinated meat slices was silky, but the meatballs were so-so. We ordered bitter gourd soup kuey teow, corn soup bee hoon, and two glasses of chrysanthemum tea, which cost RM32.

Ordered one kah heong seafood (yam soup) without noodles, with kah liu (add on seafood), the portion is not that big, about 6 prawn 4 fish meat only. Plus one cup of hot kopi C. Cost RM25.50.

Food and taste wise was great. Recommend the Kah Hiong noodle, the broth soup was awesome. Price slightly high but still reasonable. However, the service and attitude is poor. Treating like customer giving them work and not appreciative that you’re here. Like what other said, a bit like Karen’s diner (Sandakan edition)

They do served few kind of soup. U can choose either with pork or seafood. My favourite will be 家乡soup based is a must with pork meat. 家乡 （jiaxiang) soup based is cooked with bean curd and yam

Fantastic vegetarian restaurant in Sandakan. The staff helped us choose our order and they totally nailed it. Food was amazing and the employees were very friendly. Totally recommend.

First of all, I am not a vegetarian myself. My friend from Sandakan has highly recommended this restaurant to me. Being a non-vegetarian eater myself, I was curious with the dishes as all of my crusine contain meats of one type or another. I was very suprised by the quality of the food, it was amazing!!! Also, the vegetables were ethnically and organically produced too. My favourite dish from the menu was the dumplings. However, the dumplings were different compare to your traditional dumplings from the supermarket or restaurant. Dumplings from Aixin has an orange and blue coloured dumplings, the pasture of the dumplings were made from carrot and butterfly pea flower respectively. Finally coming to the dessert, my favourite dish is actually a drink, it's called cherry tomatoes smoothy or something. As the drink tasted very naturally and it has not added any sugar. I have been told by the waiter, the owner have an organic farm somewhere outside Sandakan. In additional, they have a market stall to sell their organically produced vegetables at Kim Fung market every saturday night. Aixin, keep up the good work! Michael

The concept of From Farms to Table presented by the owner really caught my attention..Yes..They produce organic vegetables and send to their kitchen. Customers have the option to buy the fresh organic produce as well. The all natural dishes are served in big portion at reasonable price. The cafe at first floor serves home made cakes, local desserts and soft ice cream..I will come back for more.

The coffee, avocado smoothie, chicken chop and soft shell crab pasta were tasty. Always full at night and weekends so need to go earlier. Place is chill and cozy, suitable for family dinners and hangouts with friends.

Initially I was skeptical with coming over due to the limited western food choices in menu. I ordered fish & chip and grilled chicken with pesto spaghetti. The fish & chip was scrumptious. They provided two sauces for fish & chips in which both are equally delicious. The portion was huge as well. Pesto still have space for improvement, grilled chicken was just perfect. We were filled to the brim. Definitely worth every penny here 😋

I loveee loveeeeee to eat here. Been here like three or four times already since i know this place. I love their food alot like carbonara pasta and also their chicken chop and grilled chicken. Their pasta is one of the best i think. Definitely a must come if you enjoy western food. Oh also, their cakes is delicious also. I tried their biscoff tiramisu and it's literally the besttt ever. Nevertheless, i love their food and they got a good and friendly service.

Delicious foods, can feel the chefs are putting their on food preparation, each dish worth for the price and portion is big. Restaurant is full with people but will not have feeling for pack. Service staffs are friendly, polite and helpful.

I had the best salted egg squid here. the veges are fresh and yummy too. only let down is the 3-rasa fish. Price wise, compared to KL is very affordable. though to my surprise lobster is not cheap at all. will definitely come again for the salted egg squid if got chance.

Good place to eat with family, friends or group. When bringing kids be aware of the surroundings since there are stoves and hot plates on the tables especially when the place is packed. The food is good but a bit pricy.

Great & relaxing place to end the night after a day out at RDC. There is a good selection of food but we ordered the signature pork chops. serving was huge and food was delicious. Service was friendly and fast.

Really nice restaurant, probably the best western food option in all of Sandakan! I just wish they had fresh oysters instead of frozen, as they are so close to the sea! Otherwise all their dishes are amazing and they also have a large alcohol selection. Probably the only restaurant I saw in Sandakan selling wine by the glass and bottle.

The restaurant interior was contemporary, soft to the eyes. The service was not as expected. Too slow. Even the waiting time for chips and deeps have to wait 30 minutes. The food presentation was ok nothing fancy. The roast chicken was very tender and have good taste, the pork sausages was not bad , the char siew pork belly was not selected properly layer of fats to thick but the pork chop was a disaster(Rusteak carnival platter & Pork Piggy Farm.).Tasteless I'm expecting some kind marinate or even salt and pepper will do. Have to think more than twice if wanna comeback here again. HONEST OPINION, sorry

One of the good Western food options available here in Sandakan (can say best if compared to other western restaurants in Sandakan). Food is good & above average. The lunch set is definitely value for money, which consists of soup of the day, main course, drinks, and dessert. It's a non-halal restaurant (serve pork & alcohol).

Terrible Service, Slow Food, and None of the Standards Expected from a Western Restaurant On Mother’s Day (May 11th), my sister took my mother to your restaurant. Upon arrival, they were told there would be a one-hour wait — which my family accepted. After waiting for quite some time, they were finally seated outside in the open air. However, after being seated, no menus were provided until about 10 minutes later, when my sister got up to look for one — only then did a staff member bring them over. My mother ordered a fish fillet set meal, and my sister ordered a pork chop set (two different types of pork chops). After 10–15 minutes, a server came rushing over to say the fish fillet was sold out and asked if my mother could choose something else. Without complaining, my mother agreed to switch to spaghetti.(Does your restaurant not plan inventory ahead? Especially knowing it’s a busy holiday, how do you run out of food so easily?) Another 30 minutes passed, and the spaghetti finally arrived. My mother ate slowly, about 30–45 minutes — because the spaghetti was cold! (Why is the spaghetti cold? Is your restaurant serving food like 7-11 does — microwave it and serve?) My mother finished her cold spaghetti, yet my sister’s pork chop still hadn’t arrived.(Honestly, is your pork freshly slaughtered or was it still frozen?) My sister asked a staff member, who simply replied, “Almost ready, it’s a bit busy, sorry,” and then left her waiting again. Not long after, another staff member came back saying only one type of pork chop was left — my sister was already so hungry she just agreed without arguing. Another 30 minutes later, yet another server came to say the mashed potatoes were out — could they replace them with fries? (Does your kitchen not know what’s in stock? Or are the staff running around just to look busy?) Eventually, the fries were brought out — and they were cold too. (If they were freshly fried, how could they be cold so fast?) My sister had enough. She went to the cashier and requested a refund, since she had only eaten the cold spaghetti. The cashier, in an extremely “charming” manner, said: “The dishes were already prepared, we can’t refund — it’s too much trouble for us.” (Is this how your restaurant threatens customers now?) After my sister insisted, they finally refunded only the spaghetti. The cashier showed a sour attitude the entire time and didn’t offer even a basic apology. I’ve worked in the service industry myself, and I was truly shocked by how bad your service is. I may not be a professional server, but at least I would never let my customers wait three hours and still leave hungry. What was meant to be a joyful Mother’s Day ended in complete disappointment, thanks to your restaurant. I honestly don’t know where all your five-star reviews come from. I’ve been to many Western restaurants and never encountered cold spaghetti and constant shortages like this. I sincerely hope you hire more staff like the ones we met — best of luck with your business. You’ll need it.

Heard about this place for good toast bread and eggs for breakfast. We were wrong. The eggs probably were frozen. The outer egg white was overcooked, but inside the egg white was still raw. We believed the eggs were frozen and cooked quickly in hot water. The egg tarts tasted ok. Toast bread tasted average. Won't be back.

Muslim friendly shop. A local shop in Sandakan not bad as well. The bread difference with other place cuz inside it got 3layers, can choose any 3 flavor of it.

Good coffee and hot bun. They have few flavours, just mixed and match to your liking. Price is very reasonable. Their famous Maggi also selling hot here.

A friend of mine went there to try it herself • I have been told it was more than 50years of business & it full with elderly people (means it has its own taste & quality) • I like their buns flavour. Must order: roti kahwin, roti kacang merah. boleh kahwin juga means mix with other flavour. Simple menu. They make their own breads and cakes freshly everyday. It's very clean and service is fast too.

Must go and try the “kawen” buns. Freshly baked buns slathered with butter and kaya paired together with runny yolks tasted heavenly yummy 😍. The simplicity of this quaint coffee shop adds nostalgic vibes on us.

We got ourselves butter Naan, seafood fried rice and sarang burung. Let's talk about what I didn't like. The seafood fried rice was bland and tasteless. Definitely wouldn't recommend. The sarang burung was OK. The egg given was still partially transparent. If some may know when you eat roti, there is this taste of a good roti but you won't find it here. However the texture is on point. Crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. The curry on the side definitely helped. Lastly the butter Naan, standard good texture where it is doughy with a good pull and I can clearly taste the aroma of the butter with a mix of nutty flavour. The mint and in house mayonnaise was appetizing as well.

Went there for breakfast and yet hot dishes are still offered. Great and fast service, cleanliness is decent, price are slightly on a higher side but compliments the portion of the food. Very generous portion, decent food, less sweet drinks. Got a/c dining. Tried the nasi goreng ikan 4/5, Maggie curry goreng 4/5, roti telur bawang 5/5, teh ais 3/5.

Been here 3times Recommended place to hang out with colleagues, friends and family There are indoor (with ac) and outdoor (which is good for customers) seats are according to SOP standard, I love their ROTI 🫓 ROTI telur as usual (you may request chicken/beef curry, dhal or mixed) but Roti Naan Cheese is really recommended! The sauces are tasty! (For me!) Prices are reasonable and ok Teh tarik ping rm3 Roti Telur rm2 Roti cobra daging rm7 or rm9 (forgot) Roti naan cheese rm4 (usually available during lunch time) Toilet 🚻 is available but I never access it.

The carbonara spaghetti I ordered was dry, flavorless, and seemed to use stale ingredients. Service was poor—there was only one staff member, who was busy packing takeaway boxes and ignored us when we called. Out of five items we ordered, two were not served, and the rest took too long despite only 2-3 tables being occupied. The table next to us wasn’t cleared the whole time. Overall, a disappointing experience.

waiter said no water, so cannot dine in. Ask for the new collaboration, they say its available. After issuing our order and paying, realised they issued the wrong order. Asked about it and they said the one we ordered not available. We asked for our order to be refunded and the manager said they are unable to do that. Overall bad experience for several times ive been there. Will not go again.

Stupid place to eat tbh, what's behind all that fancy dining is a terrible boss who abuse their workers. Low minimum pay, overwork and OT without payment. Not to mention always dismiss worker late after work hour

The food we received taste so bland, can you imagine laksa broth but without the sour taste of asam? That was what we had. We even asked for lime from the kitchen luckily the waitress gave it to us but with sour face lol. Def not coming back unless no choice.

Place order at 14.47pm and patiently waited to be serve with food 45minutes later. Eat and then pay the bill. After much consideration, I asked them ' memang service kamu lambat ka? '. (Note: with smile on face okay) Then, they replied 'oh nasi lambat masak tadi'. Shouldn't they informed the customer first when customer placed their order if they might served it late. Oh maybe this Old Town is not up to date or their management is terrible. K bye.

the place is so hot, even though i went inside with aircond it felt like the airconds were not turned on. many foods were unavailable so there are not many choices of meal. staff were also not friendly. while i was standing in front of the counter to give my order, the staff only sat down while using her phone.

It's like any others franchise, nothing much special, famous with white coffee and toast, but really not a strategic location, not a driving convenience place, and the dumpling noodle is totally a failure, only go for coffee and the toast is recommended, others u might try it yourself ~

I have order double property beef burger today with cash payment, the staff packed and gave me a double prosperity fish burger. I was in the rush as my taxi was waiting to fetch me to the jetty. I cannot understand why such a poor service. About 1 month ago, l was in Seremban, I order a double prosperity beef burger, but l was served with a single beef prosperity burger. After l explained to the staff by phone, the Seremban McDonald provided me a double prosperity beefburger.

No breakfast unfortunately (I guess because it doesn't open until 10am). Coffee was fine. Food was ok. Chips were repeatedly on the cold side.

Clean place and good customer service. The place is also always crowded and the food served is satisfying. A very suitable place to stop again when we are shopping because this place is located inside the mall.

It offers great combinations of meal in much worth prices ☕️ Mc Cafe here is not available, you need to go to IJM (Bandar Utama near Giant mall there) Parking are available @ the parking mall upstair if not mistaken rm2 per entry. Outside parkings as well but need to pay using coupon (u buy ur coupon & show it in front of ur car) but now good news its free for 6months so maybe free until in June or July.

Convenient place to hang out with family and friends. They upgrade with the contactless ordering systems and embracing self-service to the customer.

I like their egg tart (so soft in the middle) and UFO ( UFO is a very sweet pastry) because both are not too sweet. The egg tart with a thin crust …. Different from others. It taste very good when just come out from oven and taste slightly different if not fresh from oven but still acceptable.

Inside the beverage have a fly(sinked inside). Told the boss and the boss shows no responsibility at all. Even showing impatient with us. The foods is ok, but I wouldn't come back to here.

A good viarety of kuih sold here. Taste are what kuih are supposed to taste like. Nowadays not easy to find traditional taste like here. I would fully recommend here.

Nice and affordable place to kill your hunger before or after your flight. I ordered the Goreng seafood Kway Teow, which was delicious. My husband ate a Bolognese pasta, but it didn't look like that. There are self-service and la carte options, mostly Malaysian traditional dishes. Also, there is a power charging station for your electronic devices. I recommend this restaurant. :)

Delicious fried chicken, nasi goreng ikan bilis and iced coffee. Clean, spacious and has hand wash station. Friendly staff helped me with the order. It was ready within 5-10min.

They should hardly work on their "western" offer of food. Bolognesa is nothing like was served (with chicken sausage, green bell pepper, champignon and ketchup alike sauce), and pizza was eatable, but not yummy at all. Malay food was far from good too. Kindly the cashier change the Bolognesa (it was for my 8yo son) for fried chicken.

Ordered the Pizza because of what we seen on Facebook but turns out the photo in Facebook is so misleading. It is literally expectation versus reality. The curst is thick compared to the one in Facebook. Disappointed. Hot lemon is tasteless too. Waitress doesn't give a good respond to our complaints.

The cafe serves healthy rice bowls, with brown rice. That said, it also has a selections of dessert for those who have craving for not so healthy food. The bowls serve adequate portion of veggies. Enjoyed a late dinner here. They are also available on grab. Parking is ample and place is quiet; definitely recommended if your date is health conscious.

The food at this cafe was decent, but the portions were too small for the price. I expected more for what I paid, but the serving sizes felt underwhelming. While the atmosphere and service were good, the value for money just wasn’t there. Wouldn’t return unless they adjust their pricing or portions.

This place has good ambience. Decor is pretty hip and cool. Like a hipster cafe that also happens to serve spicy korean instant noodles. Their waffles and drinks are pretty good. Definitely the best place in Sandakan to get a matcha milkshake (not that there are that many places offering matcha drinks.) Nice place to chill and enjoy their drinks

A hidden gem in Sandakan, serve refreshing and cheap Grass Jelly Milk on a hot day. Many reviews saying their drinks will be sold out just in an hour, so we were the first customer at sharp noon, thankful we got to try it!

Many YouTubers have recommended the Grass Jelly here. Honestly, it is nothing unusual other than grass jelly with plethora of evaporated milk. If you are lactose intolerance and have weak stomach, please don’t try this drink as I suffered for diarrhea for two days having to see a doctor to curb the diarrhea. Also, the young lady who sells the drinks always pull a long face and no drinking is allowed in front of the shop despite there are benches to sit.

The food was good. Ur choice of Noodle, of dry or soup. Soup dish can be TomYam, clear, curry, salted vegetables and many other flavours. Try the pork liver if u are internal organ lover. It was cook to perfection. Yammy !!! Great place for breakfast.

The food is quite good and portions big. Plenty of parking. The zinc roof makes the place very hot esp on hot days. The elderly and the mobility challenged should use the top parking and entrance.

One of the few OGs cafe in Sandakan. Despite the change of ownership (if not mistaken), still serves a good cake. Only thing is that their cake selection is limited. Saw many people came in to buy cake but end up disappointed.

Man! Before I review Equator Coffee I have to admit that this is, up to this point, the best Cafe I’ve been to in Sandakan! I ordered the Hojicha Chocolate Latte and the Belgian Chocolate Cheese Cake. The total amounted to around RM 20. Which was worth every penny. The Latte tasted exquisite, the coffee tasted strong and flavourful, just how I like it. The cake was dense, filling and high in quality. At least that’s what I think since to me, the ingredients didn’t taste cheap. As a plus, it felt like I ate a full meal. The atmosphere was quite cozy, it felt like a great place to work or to just chill and pass the time as there was air conditioning and a lot of books to read. Besides, it was also quite clean. There were also a whole bunch of drinks to choose from the menu and a large plethora of cakes to order. You probably won’t get tired of going to Equator Coffee anytime soon. I don’t really have much more to add. Overall it was just a great experience, It’s a must-go for people who love cakes and coffee. Overall, I’d rate Equator Coffee an exceptional 9.2 out of 10. I look forward to the day I go to Equator Coffee for a drink again!

Nice ambience and cozy I like their wooden furniture,dim lights and relaxing music .The most thing I love is the smell of coffee fresh Brewed.Cakes are awesome 💯 recommended.Only at time we come their Carrot Cake Sold Out some left limited so make sure to come early for the cakes. Come and try you will love it.

Love the cuppucino and chocolate mint cake. Cuppucino has the right mix of coffee and milk. Fragrant and silky on the milk. One of the best cuppucino I have drank. Cake is moist enough. Wish I can try more cakes.

Located in the Sepilok Forest Edge Resort I really expected more regarding the food here. Prices are high so I thought I would get really awesome cuisine. Nothing bad don’t get me wrong but nothing exceptional. The highlight of the dishes we ordered was the eggplant, the rest not so much. Restaurant is spacious and surrounded by fruit trees where plenty of birds feed so atmosphere wise was good. Service was fast but we were the only ones eating at 14:00z

I would give 5stars, but the portions were to small. Average man has to order 2main dishes to feel anything.

Nice scenic spot, a short walk from the sun bear / orangutan sanctuary. The menu was a decent size and there were nice vegetarian options. The price is slightly higher than local food but the food is also a step up. There are plenty of scenic viewpoints. Would recommend!

Lovely restaurant (especially for dinner). Reasonably priced, with several vegan options. We had the Malaysian bruschetta, fried tofu, and corn ribs, and all were excellent.

We've tried a few restaurants in the area and this is the only one I'd say is good. We are both vegan - they didn't have much but were accommodating and what they did have was great. We had the tofu, which was brilliant! The texture was amazing and the sauce was tasty. And we had the bruschetta which was nice. And then sweetcorn, roti and coconut rice. The atmosphere was nice - they had some music playing and fairy lights strung up. Toilet was only ok.

The eggplant was delicious, and the veggie curry was rich. We were able to use the pool after which was nice.

Best restaurants in Sepilok. I have tried all the 3 restaurants in this area and this one is the best for food and ambiance. Server is very smiling and friendly. Restaurant is part of resort so you have the view and open green area. It also opens late in evening too. Great spot for lunch and dinner, close to Orangutans and Sunbear center

Anyone wanted to find or try old taste of chinese hakka seafood should definitely try this! Its been a very long time since i found original hakka taste food like this. However, you can’t choose what flavour you want for the dish, you just have to tell them what you wanted to eat (fish, prawn, crab etc.), and the chef will cook with his own style. The kakaks were very friendly, I get to take photo of the chef haha. Overall, a very very very! recommended restaurant, 是我很怀念的hakka菜味道, be sure to book before you go!

Local friend recommended this place during pur family trip. Place has no menu and only have 4 table for seating. So you must make reservation as walk in is not recommended Although there is no menu, you get to choose what type of dishes you want and it directly connected to how much it will cost. There will be choices of: Soup Vege Fish Prawn Crab Pig intestines Cooking method and ingredient is decided by the chef and thus everyone get the same thing If you wanted to eat any kind of fish, you'll need to inform ahead during reservation Atmosphere is pretty run down and cleanliness is questionable Food is great and ita the highlight of the place Price is very affordable for such kind of fresh seafood.

A hidden gem for seafood, only operate for dinner. Chef is also the buyer to source for seafood in the morning, and prepare for dinner. Steamed fish is good and the giant prawns just simply fresh, but meat is slightly tuff for it size. No walk in, only take booking.

Heard of this restaurant quite some times and finally able to try it out. Must book in advance and recommended to come with 6-10 pax so you can order more dishes. Everything was good except the crab. Personally don’t really like sweet and sour crab. Fish maw soup was good. Chicken is. Must have dish. The best is soy sauce prawn, it was very flavourful and fresh. Not forgetting the steamed garouper. Not sure about the bill, 9 adults and 1 children. Highly recommended to try this out.

Food are just OK, my parents don't like them maybe we have high expectations as many rated highly. Prawns are huge and fresh but very disappointed with the freshness of fish that day. The cook just working alone in the kitchen, he likes to put lots sugar in his cooking. Those who wanna try please call and book first as they have only 5 tables there. Price is consider expensive.

Delicious seafood, fresh, reasonable pricing. But will need advance booking, very limited seating. Only have fish, prawn, crab, pork spare park, all with 1 cooking style. But superb in taste, and done level is just right 😋
