I had a dinner here on my last day in Portugal and it was the best meal I had in this holiday. Food here was incredible, especially octopus & bean stew and pig cheeks in red wine sauce were to die for! All the dishes were literally straight out from the kitchen and served piping hot. Staff are also very attentive and kind. Reasonably priced and I was shocked when I saw the bill. Couldn’t recommend them enough!

So attentive staff and great ambient. 2nd visit for Sangria. Its sangria is so generous We needed to ask for more ICE to delute. 200% recommendable. Keep that in mind when it is busy time Kitchen is quite slow and the servers make mistakes to deliver food to wrong tables. Please be patient with staff. They are all very lovely. The best Sangria in Faro. We had to visit every day for Sangria white for lunch red for dinner.

Best portuguese cuisine we tried in Faro! Dishes are very tasty and fresh, the atmosphere is very welcomed, personal is friendly. Overall experience was amazing! We came twice! Thank you!

We had octopus with sweet potato puré, grilled fish with salad and massed cauliflower accompanied by suckling pig. The food was exceptionally amazing, the octopus was very well spiced and cooked to perfection. Easily the best octopus I have had. We ordered bread which wasn't fresh and olives which were bitter - would not recommended, unfortunately.

Supper attentive staff (even though the food took a while to arrive). We got a table even though we didn't have a reservation, but it's probably wise to call in advance as the place can be packed. Not on the cheap side, but it's super tasty.

Went last week. Note the opening times in google were never right. Also they moved to a more central location and will open on Tuesday I think. Food was great so was the service. Best to book and now it will be on the more busy area thing may change. Including opening times. One of the best tapas I had in faro.

We stumbled across this place when walking around Faro. It's tucked away in a corner so it's easy to miss. It was very busy when we arrived (always a good sign). My wife had pigs cheeks with sweet potato puree whilst I had octopus with cabbage sprouts rice. The meal was excellent. Dessert was rice pudding for me and my wife had a chocolate fondant cake with ice cream. Dessert was as good as the mains. We will definitely go back when we are in Faro.

Big restaurant with evening entertainment. We asked for a table in the main restaurant (you can also dine in the open with a great view of the coast). We ordered a 'litre of Sangria' which was very nice although more of a soft drink! There was a lot of fruit in the jug which meant considerably less than a litre of drinkable sangria but it was tasty nevertheless. However, we ordered only a main course each and it took an hour to be served despite several 'nudges' to get served quicker. When it arrived, it was "OK" according to my wife and I would agree with that absolutely. However, the entertainment was excellent!

We went on a night with live traditional music and the atmosphere was really great, with a great view from the outdoor dining area aswell. The salmon dish was good and the cosmopolitan cocktail was okay. We followed that with the dessert 'Delicias do Algarve' which was a carob, fig and almond pie that I would definitely recommend. Initially we were greeted by friendly staff but after being seated, our waiter was quite the opposite and just made us feel like we were an imposition.

Get there early if you want a table 🍴by the water. Great views of the sunset🌅. Live music 🎶 most night.👍🏻. Good wasn’t great and for not being very busy with lots of staff on duty, service was slow. I had the veal and was burnt on one side🙁. My wife had the fish casserole and was dry🤬. Would go back for drinks but for food, there’s much better restaurant that offer better prices.

We had booked via Google to plan to watch the sunset after being told by a couple of locals that it has a good view. We decided to go for cocktails as we had already eaten at a nicer restaurant in town beforehand. After we had arrived we ordered our drinks and explained we didn’t want any food, the manager rushed over and rudely explained to us that we had booked through a website called “TheFork”, we had no knowledge of this and had booked through Google (as mentioned). He proceeded to be aggressive and rude, and frankly caused a scene. He mentioned we had cost him €3 per person to book, again we had no knowledge of this. It made us feel uncomfortable. Moreover, when I explained I was happy to reimburse him his €6 he was aggressive again and said reluctantly it’s okay you ordered cocktails. This gives the impression that we had paid just enough to be permitted into his restaurant! Finally, we would have ordered more cocktails and stayed for longer had the manager not been so rude. The cocktails are €10 each, so not exactly cheap. This was our only bad experience in Faro, the only good thing about this restaurant is the view. P.S. We ordered a water which cost us €5 also, this is daylight robbery, or in this case sunset robbery. Avoid

Lovely restaurant with a great view of the water and distant beaches. Food was very nice and fairly priced. Will definitely go again when back in Faro.

We booked through trip advisor planning to come for cocktails to watch the sunset. The drinks came quickly and were delicious. Manager came over and was angry at us, saying we booked for dinner through ‘fork’ when were just here for drinks. We have not heard of fork and booked through trip advisor where there was no option to choose dinner or drinks booking. We told him this and he still seemed annoyed and left us. We were then uncomfortable being there so decided we would leave. It was a shame as the other service staff were so incredibly lovely and one was trying to make us stay when we left. You must fix this problem with trip advisor if you are allowing to people book on it. Manager wished us a goodbye when we left. Place wasn’t even that busy when we came about 9:30. It’s a shame as we definitely would have stayed for many rounds of cocktails, which are not cheap.

We went together with our LOFT Community during Acoteia Festival and had a wonderful time. The ambient, the rooftop, the quality of the food and the flavours, the cozyness from the Chef. We loved it!

Tourist trap, avoid! The wine in the sangria tastes cheap, the food was extremely salty, and the fish in the main was like 5% of the meal as previous comments have identified. Did not appreciate the mixing of smoking and Non-smoking customers, public smoking is banned in the UK for a reason. I'm a foodie and bad food makes me feel bad. It leaves me not wanting to enjoy my night. The staff looked depressed, especially when there is a lovely pub next to you, at least try to make efforts in conversations with customers. Safe go say we won't be returning and will be passing on the message that it's a big trap, avoid it! Plenty of better options to wine and dine in Faro!

Better than expected. Got the octopus with sweet potatoes - it is exstreamly good and a must try. For that dish alone it is worth 5 stars!

We attended the market to table cooking class and it was the most fun we’ve had! We learnt so much information, and then learnt how to cook a cataplana - a new staple for our meals! Chef was incredible, and it was so lovely to chat to her! Included in this, we had lovely starters and drinks - service is incredible and it’s clear that everyone is very friendly and knowledgable!

I visited this restaurant today for a dinner. I ordered grilled seabass with roasted potatoes and salad accompanied by local beer, which was beautifully presented and tasted deliciously. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, and the interior was quite impressive. The service was really good, and the staff was attentive. I can easily recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Faro.

We attended this restaurant 2/days ago and the meal was brilliant. But unfortunately on return I have to say the service was absolutely terrible,on ordering a bottle of red wine,soup,and a steak for me in which the waiter never even asked how I wanted it cooked,he returned and threw the menu at me and said they had no steak. We just got up and left,the waiter who was a black man was the rudest waiter we have ever come across and has no idea how to treat customers.So we never got to taste any food so that’s why we have not assessed the food.

All in all it was really good. The food was really good and tasty, they have a wide variety of different kinds of wine and other drinks. The service was also very good and the staff was so friendly. You might need a translator though if you do not speak Portuguese :) recommended for sure 👍

Nice traditional full-sized restaurant near the train station. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating with a lot of character. Sort of family-style tables inside, but still roomy and comfortable. I had the bargain lunch of the day, cheeseburger and fries, and it wasn't the best choice in retrospect. There are a lot of tasty local dishes on the bargain menu and the main menu. The burger and fries were good, but with some grizzle, and I should have salted it. Very good straight-faced service and quick delivery of the food. I wouldn't order the burger again, but it was a perfectly fine meal for €6,70 or whatever!

Went on a Wednesday night, no need to book. Very cosy atmosphere with friendly service. Food was served quickly. Had the Algarve style squid and the Monkfish Loin with Shrimps. Both were simple but good. The squid was slightly too oily for me. Side dish (fries) for the Monkfish was simple but generous

Found this place by accident and delighted I did. It was around the corner from our accommodation. We were looking for something comforting and fresh and this place was magnificent. Waiters were professional and very helpful especially with choosing orders. Fish was delicious and fresh, prawns in garlic were delicious and bread came with cute little napkin basket too 😁 not to mention good cold beer. It's cash only,but it's clearly signed all over the restaurant. Would definitely recommend it and gladly come back again.

This place is a hidden gem! Great food. If you're in Faro, it's a must. I had black pork strips and they were so tasty. My friend had monkfish and massive prawns on a dangling skewer, it was like a work of art 😘👌

A very beautiful vintage place with old-fashioned charm. The food is delicious; we tried almost everything on the daily menu. Unfortunately, we found the portions a little too small for the price. The service was good, but considering how many people work there, we often had to wait for someone to come and take our order. The atmosphere was good but rustic. We didn't find the music very fitting because it was more modern pop than traditional music. I would go back, but only on special occasions because it's not always affordable.

Excellent food. Our favourite was the spicy fish soup. Small open kitchen but we were serve promptly. Only con is they only take cash payments when we went.

The WORST place you can go for dinner. The food is neither good nor authentic, they claim to serve tapas but it’s rather a main dish in size of an appetizer. Food looks horrible and doesn’t taste good. Bread is served in a stinky little fabric bag. Plates are broken and dirty (disgusting!). Service is not good - took a very long time to order, another very long time to serve and a much longer time until someone came with the bill. Then, they tried to scam us. Put more dishes on the bill than we ordered, and just when they saw that we studied the bill - they said there was something weird about it but still wanted to know what exactly we ordered. They apologized and came back with a new (correct) bill, but when I paid, they didn’t give me back my change!!! Horrible place! Cannot recommend to anyone with tastebuds. We left still hungry. This place is overpriced and overrated.

The way to a mans heart goes through the stomach. They figured it out here. I stumbled upon this place, lying in a narrow street, playing top50 2010-2015 hits and asked for a table for one. There’s a daily menu that changes rapidly and there are options vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters. I ordered tuna, white fish and pig ears. Every dish excelled above any hopes and expectations that i had for this quiet lunch on a wednesday. Cooked to perfection and mixed beautifully with toppings, that hit just right. Thank you for a beautiful experience.

What a night. I stumbled into Faro’s annual summer party in the alleyway and this restaurant was smack in the middle of it. The atmosphere, music, dancing, and energy was incredible. The service was good, they had a special menu for the event. I went specifically for their original menu so was a bit thrown by that, and didn’t love the dishes I got. I was confused by the sopa’s flavor and the mushroom dish was really a giant soaked piece of bread. But that’s my fault for not knowing Portuguese. Shrimp was good & dessert (goat cheese with honey & crushed almonds & chocolate cake with a caramel glaze) had a lot of flavor. The event made up for it & would go back to try their normal menu.

Spicy fish soup and the goat cheese was really good. Great wine! The service was ok and they don’t accept card payments which is annoying!

Unbelievable!. My daughter and myself ordered the monk fish cataplana and I have to say it was amazing so much food as well for 2 people and all though it sounds expensive when you see what you get it would cost double for the same meal in the uk. Great job guys well impressed keep up the good work.

Authentic Portuguese food with excellent service. I come here for dinner every time I’m in Faro - have been three times already and was never disappointed. I adore the arroz de marisco (seafood rice). House wine is great too. I dream of this place and their food! I’m looking forward to come back here and can recommend it to everyone. 10/10. Price for arroz de marisco in April 2025: 40€ for two people.

We had a great meal here. We all had fresh fish and the white wine that was recommended was also very good. They were able to do a lot of items gluten free which was great.

Decided to eat here given positive reviews that I read. We were not disappointed. We had croquettes for starter which was ham and cheese. These were like sausage meat and cheese coated in bread crumbs. They were very tasty. It was served with some dijon mustard. It was cooked to perfection. We had the grilled Seabream. It was served with garlic flavoured rice. steamed cabbage, broccoli and carrots. It came with boiled potatoes. It was absolutely delicious. Definitely gets 5 stars. It was very good value for money. The croquettes were €4 for starters, €17 for sea cream. €8.50 for litre of house white wine. I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves wholesome food cooked and seasoned to perfection. 5 stars all round.

The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Recommended. We went two nights in a row.

The restaurant also serves as a rooftop bar, not only for hotel guests. Just enter the lobby and keep left to the elevators. It is a fanatistic spot to sit here in the late afternoon, shielded from the wind by the glass paneling and sip a drink and watch the harbour activities and the sunset. As you are high up you also have a good almost 360 view on the city and it is especially a good observation spot for the storks on nearby rooftops.

We spent an excellent evening at this rooftop restaurant on top of a modern building. The view on the small harbour and nature reserve Ria Formosa alone is worth visiting. Watching the setting sun is truly magical. Luckily the food matches the view. Every course was outstanding and beautifully presented. We enjoyed some good wine with our food. Service was very friendly and helpful. Only minor complaint: the courses came a bit too quickly for me, I didn't mind some extra time between the courses. But truly, this is nitpicking. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place to have a drink because of the spectacular views. However, we ordered 3 glasses of the most expensive white wine by the glass. 8€ each. The wine unfortunately was horrible it wasn't corked. Perhaps the cheaper one would have been better. In the Algarve for almost 40 years, we know it's hard to find a bad glass of wine here, but someone in charge has actually found one. But otherwise a great place to visit.

The food is delicious but unfortunately the service is not very attentive. You clearly notice that there is no manager on the floor. The menu includes 4 fish dishes, 3 meat dishes and 1 vegan dish. Prices vary between 20 and 35 euros. Ria Formosa restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the Faro Hotel, located on the harbor of Faro. It is directly connected to the Cosmopolitan Rooftop Bar. The restaurant is decorated in a modern way, and the light is too white, which makes it look a bit like an office, instead of a cozy restaurant. But it has a fantastic view over the city and nature area Ria Formosa. And you see the many planes coming over low. There are a limited number of tables outside where you can eat. That's the most beautiful place! But the place is unique, so recommended! PS You can park under the hotel. The elevator takes you to the 4th floor.

Very nice atmosphere. The panoramic scene is magnificent, but the sunset doesn't meet one's expectation: there's a building obstructing the view. The food is the weakest point. There's a clear effort to prepare elegant dishes, but it is (alas) unsuccessful. Fish (including bacalhau) is terrible. The salads are barely sufficient. Bread and flavoured butter/cheese are good. The waiters are polite, kind and patient. They all speak English. In conclusion: difficult to judge, but taking everything into account, no more than 3 stars.

It was a very interesting fine dining experience, although I was there during a conference dinner, so the menu might not be representative of the regular one. The courses were elaborate, beautifully plated variations on the local cousine. Very friendly staff, and the location is flabbergasting - the views from the rooftop can make you dinner all by themself.

Beautiful place with lovely food. The terrace is a great spot for the marina view and old town, nice atmosphere to enjoy the beautiful sunset with good cocktails, wine or cold beers. I also had dinner, it was the scallops for starter and the lobster risotto for main. Both were delicious and generous portions I was delighted. My daughter had a steak with chips, it wasn't tender so that disappointed me but I will still highly recommend the sea food I had.

Loved the octopus dish, gallician style. The cocktails were also very good and overall we loved the place. Only downside, our table was infested with ants, which is really unacceptable, hence the 4 stars. Thank you.

A lovely evening vibe, open late. Good chilled house music. Friendly service. I have to recommend their take on an espresso martini. Absolutely delicious! About €9, October 25. (They also have a funky electronic cigarette machine if you need cigarettes late at night. Same prices as the shops)

This restaurant deserves a michelin star rating, they serve the most delicious food with professional staff and great music. I love the composition of their menu. I appreciate it. We ordered squid which had the best design and was so tasty. Plus the stake on the mixture of pumkin potato and rice! Such a brilliant recipe ♥️ they’re so hospitable that gave us one free shot of portuguese drink.

Great selection of classic and inventive/fun cocktails to choose from. A great location close to the water, on the main square of Faro sea front. This was our second visit over the last few years (as tourists) and has been a consistently high quality and quick service and drinks.

Tapas to share as a meal is a great way to discover several of the typical local dishes that are served here. 4 dishes accompanied with bread and anchovy butter and two glasses of red wine with a dessert to share was more than filling enough for our dinner. And it set us back 60 euros. Lovely service and the atmosphere inside was also refreshing with a quirky combination of an old vaulted cellar like room filled with uptempo music. Loved it and we felt really sorry that they only had to open for us as we were the only customers for the night?! Maybe the fact that they are not on the main tourist thoroughfare is one of the reasons (as other lesser eateries in the main pedestrian street draw more customers) but we can only recommend diverting off the beaten track to discover this gem!

The sardines and the hen with cheakpeas were delicious. Sardines amazing flavor and really tasty. The cod fish croquet were given to us by mistake as the mixed the order. We ate them and they were delicious. Then we ordered the cod fish traditional dish they have with eggs and potatoes (which was our original order) but it was not as tasty as the rest. Not so much cod fish flavor but instead lots of potatoes. Not worth it for the price in my opinion. They only accept cash.

Splendid dinner! Everything was really great, especially the sardines, love it with lemon and the crunchy bread. The staff was nice, fast and always smiling. We eat at the outside tables in a really nice atmosphere. Great quality/price, I will definitely suggest you to try it.

Chicken broth was flavourful but chicken was dry. And we had to go to cash machine to take out cash because they wouldn’t take card. For the standard of this restaurant this should be either warned before or alternative options given. Waiter was not the most welcoming. Change back was given wrong and was not given cherry liquor that they originally offered.

Had dinner at this super cozy place and it was amazing! The food is unexpectedly good, the chef super nice and explains everything you have in the plate. Recommend baked carrots, duck rice & Portuguese stew. Dessert: clouds & egg yolk jam ❤️

Book early as place is nice. Small intimate and very busy so book in advance. We were lucky to get a table ad hoc by calling the restaurant. The place is very cozy, the owners are extremely friendly and will make you feel very comfortable enjoying the delicious food served. One of those restaurants you wish you’d had a chance to taste everything 👌

Lovely little restaurant. Service was a little slow as it was busy but that gave us time to savour the ambiance. Food was delicious especially the starters and main courses. Desserts were okay. It would be good to have a vegetarian main course on menu so we can bring our daughter next time! We will come again .

Small place with a small but very personal menu, the owners took their time to explain the dishes and the story behind it. Starters won us over, had to order extra as it sounded too good to pass and we weren’t disappointed. A little over priced as the mains and deserts weren’t that special. However we still enjoy it, it’s all part of the experience. Thank you to the owners who were lovely and kind.

Such a special experience- stunning food, stunning staff, and the vibe was just exceptional. The way the staff explained and talked about each meal on the menu was so helpful and interesting. Service was outstanding and so was the taste of each dish.

Cool casual (sort of grungy) little spot just popped in for a happy hour cocktail which was super cheap and just what we were looking for. Everyone was sitting outside. Not great views or anything, and most people were smoking. But it was close to the hotel and nice and quiet. This seemed like it may have been open late into the morning hours as the noise coming from this area went all night long.

Decent little breakfast spot. Tourist prices and not many options but the outdoor seating is worth it. Note, the "rusk" is not rusk, it's a sourdough piece of toast.

Service was wait good and the staff are really nice and polite. But my Seitan sandwich had only a friend Seitan with bread. Very rusty and dry to eat. Therefore, do not recommend!

Very nice cafe, good service, very friendly waiters, willingly speak English. Nice environment and good music. Plus for they work up to 2 a.m. Although many cafes near are closed in evening. There are board games😁 I recommend👍

Best Cataplana I've ever had in my life. On the menu it says Cataplana is from two people. However, they kindly offered me a Cataplana for one person with 2/3 of price. It was still large, but they kindly allowed me to take away the half with some bread leftovers. I enjoyed it the next day at the hotel as well. Plenty of shell fish and crams created thick flavour of sauce. The potato melts inside your mouth. Must have in Faro.

Honestly only chose this place for a beer as we waited for our washing in the laundromat across the road. I ordered the squid and it was the best meal that I've had so far on this trip. They have an app for seeing the menu so this makes things very easy.

I am sooooo happy I came and got the seafood and cod Cataplana. It surpassed all expectations and was incredible. They were also nice enough to do a single serve for a solo traveler.

I had a goal to try cataplana, but unfortunately it is a 2-person dish and I was traveling solo. 🥺 However, this place was kind enough to serve me a single portion and it was great!! Even the single portion was almost two meals’ worth, so I had leftovers to take home. The man working was a bit gruff at first but he turned out to be quite nice 😆 thanks for completing my Algarve experience!

Great coffee and nice snacks but slightly spoiled on out last visit by a shortage of food and cutlery. We had quite a wait for both.

The pastel de nata was surprisingly good for a mainstream place in a mall. Crispy and still how/warm.

Wonderful pastries but the location in Google maps is wrong. Search for Hanami Sushi and this is next door, on the 1st floor. The ‘pastel de nata’ are perfection!

Don't let the pictures fool you. this is a great family restaurant, with great food, lots of charm, and a friendly staff. lunch is served buffet style which is different for the area. only open 12 to 3pm so get there early. the owner is from Liverpool and just a great guy. highly recommended

Super nice staff, very good vegan buffet. For 7,50 you get a soup, salad and several delicious meal options as an all you can eat buffet. The desert (mango chocolate mousse) was also extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend!

Food is very good, not very varied but tasty. It doesn't have atm. Good vegetarian/macrobiotic all in all. Dish of the day is 6€ or 7.5€ if you repeat. Juices are good as well as desserts, but you will end up with a bill of about 13€.

Food quality was excellent. A nice selection of salad - Versus the array of cafes/restaurants on the seafront, this little gem was a great find. Very enjoyable experience, and all the food today was vegan and has left me feeling great. Would recommend highly!

Nice place for coffee. Also they make very nice fresh juices. It is located in city centre and also has outdoor seating. Right on the sun. The stuff was nice and friendly. We also tried pastel de nata with ice cream which was very nice and pancakes that were ok.

Love the place! Cozy and tea friendly. Soy milk available. The sweets are not vegan, but they always have toast with traditional bread.

Loved it so much. Incredible coffees, massive selection of read and cakes to make your mouth water. On top of all that, the staff were super friendly and quick.

Nice offers but a little bit pricey

I don't understand why this restaurant has such a relatively low rating. We were immediately attracted to this place by the fact that a lot of locals were coming in for lunch, and decided to give it a try. Just the vintage interior and traditional fittings themselves are astonishing. The service was swift, friendly and professional. We were also happy with their meal selection. The food was well prepared, enjoyable to behold and very tasty. Dessert offering is vast and equally good. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by all aspects and can highly recommend this place.

The place and interiors are BEAUTIFUL! On the other hand, the service - unfortunately, completely ignorant. We had to rebuke the order. And in the end, half of the drinks were not brought to us. Food is very average. A big plus for vegetarian dishes, but they were also tasteless. Therefore, I can't recommend the restaurant even though it's worth putting your head in to see the beautiful decor.

This restuarant was lovely. Gorgeous location in the centre of the old town. Food was reasonably priced and fresh fish was delicious. Everyone was very friendly.

We were looking forward to have dinner here, but i guess to high aspections. The waiter was kind, but and the staters were really taste ! But the main dish which had a certain price was quite dissapointing..was more a vegetable soup with a lot of fish...its a pitty. Everything tasted of paprika and white onions

The service was amazing. The owner was so welcoming and helped me to take a few nice pic with food 💖 Food was to die for. The octopus was fresh and flavourful, it’s the best I’ve ever had. The owner picked the wine for me which matched perfectly with my octopus and prawn curry rice (and also olives too!). I enjoyed each bite! I’m definitely coming back to try his other recommendations

An absolute gem! We had an incredible dinner at Mavala — hands down one of the best Italian meals we've had in a long time. The hospitality was outstanding from the moment we walked in. The waiter was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain every dish in detail and even recommending the best options based on what we liked. It felt like dining among friends. The food? Simply amazing. This is real, authentic Italian cuisine — pure, honest, and full of flavor. Everything was homemade, from the delicate ravioli to the rich cheeses. You could truly taste the care and craftsmanship in every bite. It genuinely felt like being in Italy — not just because of the food, but because of the warm atmosphere and the passion everyone in the restaurant brings to what they do. Compliments to the chef for creating such delicious dishes. The quality was outstanding, and the entire experience was unforgettable. We can’t recommend Mavala enough. If you’re in Faro and love Italian food, this place is a must.

Everything was delicious. My photo of the pasta I had didn’t come out properly but what I posted instead was the empty plate… I polished it off. Ya … exactly. I regret not using the bread to soak up what was left hehe. The flavors of both the main dish and dessert are subtle but a delight. The portions are perfect for someone who doesn’t want to get overwhelmed by massive portions that leave you feeling guilty for wasting food or stuffing yourself so it no longer becomes a pleasure. The service is efficient and the vibes are cozy. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet after a hectic day. The manager/chef was really warm and sweet; I hope I was able to express how much I enjoyed the experience because in person I tend to be brief and less expressive. If not, this review should hopefully make up for it. Strongly recommend checking this place out.

We arrived without the reservation and had to wait an hour until there was a free table. That was no problem for us. Food was great! We had pasta with pistachio and shrimp and cod fish with cauliflower. Dessert and drinks. Service was really good. It was all together 80€. We enjoyed our dinner.

We ate lunch here without a reservation on a Saturday around 2pm (in December). Hubby had the "White Menu" which included a starter plate, a main plate and a second plate as well as a wine pairing for each plate. The chef chose the menu, which would be unknown to us until we got it. I had the cheese plate and a glass of red wine (and tasted hubby's food of course). Every single item we ate was absolutely delicious. The chef studied under a Michelin star chef, which is evident. The portions were perfect, the service was outstanding, and the food was amazing. Afterward, we split a tiramisu and had a grappa each. The tiramisu was creamy, not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The grappa was delicious as well. Cost was $85 and well worth it. We already have dinner reservations for tonight. Highly recommend!

I was a solo diner and treated myself to the tasting menu. The service was appropriately attentive, the wine delicious and the food outstanding. The sea bream and the veal were perfect. I don't write a lot of reviews and this is my way of saying thank you! It was a wonderful evening and I could not have been happier that I discovered this restaurant.

Overall, the experience was good because the location is unique and the boat trip makes it more fun. The restaurant is very well integrated into the island’s natural surroundings and is architecturally very beautiful. The staff was very kind and attentive. We expected high prices given the exclusivity of the location, but honestly, we also expected the culinary experience to be at the same level, and it was a bit disappointing considering the cost. Reservations are required.

Visited twice while in Portugal to celebrate my 60th birthday. 2nd time we were 30 minutes late for our reservation for 6 people which they’d have had every right to let go of especially as it was busy but they had kept it for us. (We did let them know but they were too busy to respond). The staff were very friendly and willing to go the extra mile for us. You need to arrive by boat as it’s an island so book a ferry or shuttle. It’s not cheap but worth every penny/cent. It’s totally self contained so very sustainable. The food was simple but high quality fresh ingredients prepared by chefs who know what they’re doing with flavours!! The red sangria is highly recommended! It is the kind of restaurant we will go back to again and again. Highly recommended!!

Despite it's appearance from the outside, and the pricey menu with upmarket food, the interior is a bit of a disappointment. The tables and chairs look more like motorway service station issue, and the tables are poorly set out (if at all). The staff serving were both good and very friendly, so the experience as a whole was quite pleasant.

Only eatery on Ilha Deserta and they do a great job. Fresh fish well prepared. Nice cocktails and delightful staff. Spend some time on the beach and have a nice afternoon lunch in a covered open air dining room. Really fantastic

Absolutely fantastic ambiance. We had the luck to go to there on a beautifully sunny day in autumn and loved the sheer beauty of looking out of the windows onto the lovey island of Ilha Deserta. Combined with lovely service, nice wine recommendations and tasty seafood, it was an amazing experience for myself, husband and 4yo daughter

3 of us went here. We had the sharing platter, said it was for 2-3 people and they were right. Had a side salad too which was fine. Otherwise think you may need more food its probably enough for just over 2 people. Had a chocolate brownie dessert too, which was ok.

Staff were friendly, the food wasn't great the "piri piri" resteraunt had one singular piri piri dish. And it was a tiny amount of chicken in oil that hardly had any kick whatsoever to it. I warn you do not sit outside unless you want to share your meal with a swarm of flies and wasps, I feel sympathy to the staff as there is not much they can do to prevent this but it really ruins your meal as it is inpossible to hold conversation, eat and swat flies away all at once.

Best chicken we've had so far in the Algarve and we've already been to a couple of places. The dish also had nice vegetables (legumes) and perfect rice. On top of that the staff was extremely friendly and polite and the garden was a perfect place for this lovely lunch! Will come back here definitely 😇

We ordered an Uber eats from here and the food was shockingly not good and pretty small portions (we ordered two half chickens with chips for €32, that’s before the drivers tip). The French fries were really dry - which is strange because you would expect a bit soggy from the delivery time. It might be better if you go into the restaurant but as we had just arrived at night, we were looking for something quick to be delivered. There are so many great piri piri places here and needless to say, we were disappointed. We will stick with our usual locations from now on.

We had the piri piri chicken in the extra spicy version (which isn’t that spicy), a Gran Mixta salad and apple tart. It was a very satisfying meal. The chicken was juicy with crispy skin (and spicy), the large salad was big enough for two of us and the apple tart just complimented the whole thing. Staff was polite, attentive and fluent in English. It’s not the cheapest place to eat but well worth a visit.

The peri peri chicken is their specialty dish and is nice. However I think that it is one of the only things not to be cooked from frozen. Mac and cheese is sweet. Even the whole chicken is a small portion and looks like it came from a baby chicken. Train tracks next to the restaurant so occasionally will pass by (usually ever 30 minutes)

My family and I ate here this evening and it was by far one of the most delicious and wonderful experiences we have had on our holiday. Every bite of food was incredible, the tastes were unbelievable and the staff were so lovely and attentive. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Some would even say the best burger and steak we have ever had.

This was our first time in Faro and we are certainly glad we discovered Apertivo. The food and atmosphere were amazing with good service as well. We had the Chorizo, Olives, Pork Shoulder and Goat cheese. These were all plentiful and delicious. I have to say the Calamari was the best I have ever had and is a must have when you are here. Drinks were great and the prices reasonable. Loved the vibe sitting outside. We will definitely be back.

Wow! It was our first time to Faro, and looking for a place to have a drink, we found Aperitivo. So glad we did. The outside area was very inviting , but what really made the night special was that waitress, Maria! She was the only one work the entire outside area, but she was attentive to everyone. She made sure everyone was happy and that they had everything they needed . She was so friendly even with the stress of a full bar. The bartender that night was really nice too, but if we come back to Faro we will definitely come back to see if Maria is there.

I cannot speak more highly of the food and service. Maria was nothing short of a delight. The chorizo was one of the best things I ate while in Faro. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect. 10/10 would recommend.

We chose the tapas and enjoyed the delicious garlic prawns and mushroom with cheese on toast both full of flavour. We were looked after very well by Maria. Excellent value for money, highly recommend!

This is incredible. A real gem in the heart of Faro. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone but this mix of Asian and Mediterranean food served with imagination and quirky style is amazing. Can’t wait to go back. Superb wine cellar too.

Please read this whole thing cause there is a major caveat. Let’s start with this: every bite was perfection. The kitchen here clearly understands flavor, texture, and balance at a level most restaurants only dream of. Each plate that arrived was a small masterpiece — beautifully composed, technically flawless, and bursting with intention. The wine service was equally impeccable; the sommelier’s pairings were on point, each glass elevating the dish it accompanied with confidence and precision. And yet… we left hungry. Not “European portion” hungry — actually hungry. As in, “wandering the streets in search of something else to eat” hungry. When regulars start showing up with their own pizza (this actually happened) to supplement the experience, it’s hard not to raise an eyebrow. For an astonishing €158 for two, one expects at least to finish the evening satisfied. Here, you leave with a palate dazzled but a stomach unfulfilled — a culinary paradox that borders on absurd. So yes, the food was art. But art doesn’t fill you up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ — Four stars for brilliance on the plate, minus one for forgetting that dinner should also feed you.

Simply incredible! We came a few years ago when it had just opened as a cheese and wine bar and to come back as see how the food and experience has evolved was an absolute pleasure! What a shame. I came here with my sister with great expectations and I was looking forward to have a full immersion in Portuguese wines. The food also seemed very interesting…however I left after the second glass as the waiter shown zero interest in us and never came back to take the order and preferred chatting with his friends. I decided to try “O Rui” as a typical restaurant near the beach experience. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve had, but it is not one of the worst experiences either. It does what it is supposed to do: serve fresh seafood; the issue is mainly with how the fresh seafood is cooked and its flavor. The fried cuttlefish was nice, but the dough itself could have been better prepared to bring out more flavors. The razor clam rice was served with fried flounder, my main issue here is the razor clam rice itself: the rice passed the boiling point, it was way too watering and should be more rich and creamy, lastly, though you could see pieces and bits of bell pepper in it, all I could taste was the saffron that they overused, it was missing salt and the flavor of ingredients it was cooked with. For a bar close to the beach, you will actually be eating without a direct view to the beach and if you sit outside, your view will be to the road, with cars passing by. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back as I can get much better rice elsewhere. The service was good, though a bit slow, and everyone was nice.

Decided to visit this small restaurant as it is just one the other side of the road from my hotel and what a good choice that was. I know where I will eat the coming days! Very friendly service and the meat I ordered was simply amazing, as was the desert. I have nothing bad to say about this place!

We had a fantastic lunch and afternoon at O Rui, by the beach in Faro Island. What really made our visit exceptional was the service from Rafael. He was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He recommended the grilled Robalo (sea bass), and it was absolutely amazing, fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour. Thank you, Rafael, for making our meal so memorable. Highly recommend!

I think that this is the best one on the beach. Very relaxing atmosphere, nice variety of dishes and very kind service. Unlike most of the other places, Elementos has sitting next to the little beach, so it is the only proper beach restaurant we saw.

The service was lovely and attentive (in perfect English) and the food was amazing! We thought at first the garlic bread (positively sinful) was going to be too much but somehow it was gone very fast 😉 and the seafood tagliatelle was simply delicious, with loads of seafood, accompanied by a wonderful white wine... couldn't be happier with our evening and would recommend without hesitation 🤩

I was there with my sister a couple of days ago! The service was excellent! Vanessa was our server/ host and we couldn't be more happy!! The seafood was top notch and the prices were according to the area. We left there wanting more but too full to keep eating. The terrace is really cozy and the vibe is casual, maybe a bit windy but nothing that a t-shirt or sweater cannot solve. We loved it and definitely recommend it! Take it from a person that works as a consultant for hospitality.

Absolutely unacceptable experience! We were served food with visible MOLD on it. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, instead of an immediate apology and accountability, I was met with dismissive comments like “stuff happens” and “we didn’t know.” Let me be clear: it is the restaurant’s basic responsibility to inspect what they put on people’s plates before serving it. The casual attitude, followed by outright hostility when I pressed the issue, was beyond shocking. And the “compensation”? After arguing, they begrudgingly offered a 4€ discount — as if that somehow makes up for being served something unsafe and inedible. I left completely disgusted, disappointed, and genuinely concerned for anyone else who eats here. If moldy food and a shrug is how they handle safety, it speaks volumes about how little they care about their customers.

Food was OK but the wine they offering is bit crap. We ordered bottle for 24 which is price where I am expecting bit drincable wine. Wine was in medium price category and was quite bad. Next day we found that wine in close supermarket with price of 5E. That price was real worth of that wine. I understand that you have to make profit but If you are selling wine to people for 24 E don't give them cheap wine for 5e ...at least for 8-10 eur

Quality - We've ordered 1/2 mixed fried fish, with typical small sardines, small horse mackerel & roe with a lemon edge for starter and the main dish was a razor clam rice, famous all over Algarve but mainly in Faro. The starter was good and with decent quantity, but the star dish was definitely the rice - with a great mix of condiments adding some complexity to the overall flavour (I recommend you to add a little bit of Algarve's spicy to enhance all flavours) - you may find some sand which is not good at all, but the razor clams are difficult to clean). To drink we have ordered a bottle of Portuguese white wine, Planalto, one of those easy choices. . Service - All employees were friendly and service was fast and without mistakes. To book a table you have to send them a message/WhatsApp. . Vibe - Typical Portuguese Restaurant, with an amazing terrace with a view to the "Ria". . Price - Good price considering the view and the quality and quantity of the all menu. . Payment - Debit/Credit card is accepted. . Overall - A good typical Portuguese Restaurant, without many tourists or queues. Maybe not the most famous one for this dish, but I would definitely recommend it.

Went here a couple of times, as it's very central and is a bit of an iconic beer place in Faro. Popular with young people and staffed by young bar workers who are very jovial. Obviously beer is the main gig, but there are snacks too and the freshly prepared curly potato crisps are great. The beer selection is good for Faro, although more local beers at reasonable prices rather than overpriced Punk IPA etc would be good. Sit outside and watch the world go by, but well worth a trip to the washrooms too, as the decor and lighting are wow!!

The place is aright but I dont think they qualify for a brewpub. They do have 6-7 taps (portuguese and irish beers mostly) and some solod snacks like pasteis de camarao and bacalhau.

Great bar that has one of the better selections of beer around, and some great food too. I have no idea why Google maps insists on it being called ground when it's clearly called Grains. I have been here a few times on this holiday and it's good for just drinks or food too. Saturday had a live singer who was really good. The bar is done out well. Friendly staff. Varied and tasty menu. Their own Hanook beer is thoroughly recommended, excellent. Doughnut was lovely too. The two eateries/bars opposite are the same company and you can sit on any outside table when using any of them.

Good place to try out beers! Unfortunately, I got a bit unlucky with my selections. All the three beers I tried were on the bitter side (even the blonde portugese one). I used to love bitter beers, but now I prefer sweeter ones like a sweet blonde or a Belgian triple. You can get a taster of 4 beer plus popcorn for 5 bucks. It only includes beers from the tap. The food was quite decent. We ordered onion rings (awesome batter), fried beans, tacos and bean burger. Beware that the corn carrot cob has a whole carrot in it. I expected mashed carrots. I thought the service could have a a bit faster. Recommended!

Probably my favourite place in Faro - great food menu with great mexican street food and a decent selection of beers both on tap and in the fridges. Really friendly staff and some nice comfy seats to fall into - although a lot of the furniture is clangy metal. Be sure to try the home made donuts!

A most pleasant establishment, set in a fine location with a charming atmosphere. The garden is indeed delightful, though I rather doubt it serves as a true source of ingredients for the kitchen, for reasons both practical and evident. The menu is curated with a sense of particularity—an appeal, perhaps, not destined for all tastes—especially given the portions, which are of an exceedingly modest size. The service is commendable and carried out with grace. The meat dishes, I must say, are of excellent quality and most satisfying. The seafood, however, though fresh, presents itself with a simplicity that does not entirely befit a house of such standing—oysters being the noble exception. The wine selection is worthy of praise, though the cocktails, alas, fall short of expectation. Yet, all in all, I remain glad to have made the visit. With the favour of fair weather and every other happy circumstance, the experience proved most agreeable.

Austa is an absolute must-visit when traveling the Algarve! This restaurant was honestly the highlight of my five-day solo trip. I really value thoughtfulness, quality ingredients and a warm, welcoming atmosphere when dining out. Austa ticked every single box. When I arrived the staff made me feel genuinely welcome and cared for even though I came alone. The ambiance, the beautiful interior design and the garden that surrounds the restaurant make a very unique experience. Before your reservation you’re even invited to take a walk through the garden (to see where the ingredients come from before they show up on your plate is such a special touch). The food itself was incredible! Full of flavor, beautifully balanced and with combinations you don’t often find elsewhere. One of, if not the best, contemporary dining spots we’ve ever been to. The seasonal menu was beautifully thought out, celebrating local producers and bringing the best of the Algarve to the table. Every dish was explained with a smile and prepared with so much care. Everything tasted effortless and perfectly balanced. They had us from the start with the best sourdough and delicious homemade butter, and it only got better from there. I don’t usually eat pork, but this place made me, and honestly, I’d order it again. The interiors are gorgeous, every detail feels intentional. We travel a lot and eat out often, and this place is easily in our top five. We’re coming back in December to try the breakfast menu - no doubt it’ll be mind-blowing. Thank you so much for making our trip to Portugal special!

Had a great dinner at austa. Better than my expectation. Driving into the restaurant is a bit tricky, cause the restaurant is off the main road. Overall great food and service. I ordered the beef tartare, Hokkaido pumpkin, scarlet shrimp, acorn pork and a banana dessert.

Epic meal, the best of my week long trip in the Algarve and one of the memorable meals of the year. Loved the garden grown produce, carefully sourced small batch local wines, highly innovative cooking and amazing service. Highly recommend.

The meal at Austa was truly spectacular – food to die for, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The setting is stunning, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. Service was attentive, warm, and professional from start to finish. Without question, this was the best meal we’ve had in the Algarve. A must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

We stopped here for some pastries on a weekday in February. I ordered the pastel de nata, which was okay but didn’t seem to have as much cinnamon or vanilla flavor as others I’ve had in Portugal. We also tried a meringue-based dessert that looked great but ended up being too sweet for us to finish. That being said, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and genuinely outstanding, which made the visit a pleasant experience. It’s possible that we simply ordered items that aren’t their specialty. While the pastries didn’t quite meet our expectations, the welcoming atmosphere made it a nice place to stop by.

Super friendly staff! the pastel was so delicious rich sweet custard and and flaky crust as delicious as the big brand name ones in Lisbon and porto also the cinnamon are on the table so make sure you spot them and sprinkle some on top of your pastel it will definitely make a very delicious difference also the prices are really adorable !

Came to this place twice because it was so good :) lovely service even tho it gets hectic on a Sunday morning. They spoke some English which made it a lot easier for me and my Portuguese. Lots of locals come here as well

There was extra chilli oil on the side, which had a mild-medium spice. The chips were freshly homemade, with a deep potato flavour and a crispy, oily crust. The rice was, too, homemade, with flavours of olive oil, onion and carrot. The olives were tender and juicy. The bread, known as ‘pao Alantejano’, is a traditional sourdough from the Alantejo cuisine in Portugal. It was a perfect accompaniment with the oily flavours.

We were lucky enough to stumble soon this roof top restaurant during the roof top festival! A beautiful place, great atmosphere, food amazing, had a little blip with a couple of our tapas items and it was sorted quickly and without any fuss! In fairness it was a super busy evening! Came here with my husband yesterday. We have been in Faro almost 2 weeks and we had the best food on the trip sofar here at this place!! We sat on outside at the balcony and enjoyed the view. Sami, our waiter was amazing and told us things you did no about Faro!😁 we ordered 4 courses and every one was sooooo good! Loved the tuna with the sesame seeds especially and the pork cheaks!! And of course we had deserts!!Highly reccomend this restaurant. Be sure when you order to ask for a seat at the balcony!😜 Margrét from Iceland

Awesome place with awesome food. Look over Faro's skyline while enjoying some of the best Tapas in town. Recommendation: Fried bread with shrimp and coriander. Fantastic. Service super attentive and pleasant.

We had a great meal on the rooftop. Favourites dishes were the veal (very delicious!), tiger prawns, steak and tuna. The only thing missing was a finger bowl - this would have been useful. The red sangria was also fantastic.

Some of the best food you'll find in Faro. A good choice without it being a huge menu. They specialise in about 20 small plates, cooked by a chef who knows what they are doing. I can imagine each dish would be delicious. Views across some of the city making for a nice outlook. The waiter was very friendly with us but he was a bit grumpy with others. I understand his reasoning, but having very strong words at customers who had just arrived in good spirit and moved a chair to their table (as often happens) was very rude and unnecessary. However if you go there and you are on your best behaviour then you will have a culinary delight so don't be put off, just be careful.

Wonderful experience here last night. Lovely chill vibe, our waiter was friendly and very welcoming. Not many tables which makes for a better experience. But the food was absolutely delicious. Especially loved the garlic spicy prawns but the chimichuri veal was outstanding. Very reasonable price too... highly recommend ❤️

The burgers are very delicious and the cheese rain is spectacular. But for the premium price we would expect a bigger size. Especially the vegetarian burger was a disappointment given the heavy price tag.

Don’t trust the opening times as they are not open during the day. Woman who opened door needs lessons in manners. Thank you for responding, but the woman at the door never said anything about a power cut, we had to knock a few times for someone to me to the door even though we could see them by the bar and they would just look at us and ignore us. The restaurant is air conditioned ...and we were shown to the right to a small area with an air con machine ....super. We were seated and asked for a cold beer ...in a instant it arrived.....heaven on a warm evening. We viewed the Menu and decided on 3 or so each. 1st one....tuna patė.... Toasted bread with sardines. Mussels au gratin.... Garlic shrimp.... Portuguese sausage croquettes ... We ordered a bottle of the rosė and it was super. All in all a definite 5 star performance...service and food. Each meal in all honesty was presented lovely and tasted excellent. This place is difficult to beat if your in faro. Price wise it is so reasonable ..... What a great find. This beautiful little cafe/restaurant is a must visit in Faro. Magnificent food at a very responsible price. We were served a great lunch (3 course including fresh lemonade and coffee to finish.) So good we returned a few days later for a Tapas dinner and again it didn't disappoint. The dessert - house special, caramel Brule is superb - I tried very hard to get the recipe. You need to visit to experience😊
